I don’t know why, but someone submitted this MCM house to an Architecture shaming group, and said, “It’s back. This time with more black and pink paint.” I can’t find a listing, so maybe it’s a private one, in a local paper or something, but I like the house. Take a look.
annal22Ishe/her found the way it looked before they painted it black. Now, I like it even more! Thanks for finding this! Typical rusty/red MCM exterior- the black makes it look updated, but still MCM.
It looks like they didn’t touch the original features. The entrance is intact and unusual.
This is very nice- there’s even a little skull there.
The doorbell is clearly original, the stone, and they may have painted the paneling black- I think it looks fine.
Small sitting area.
I guess the pink she’s referring to is the bathroom, but pink is a classic MCM bathroom color. The tub is clearly original- look at that thing.
It looks like they took the photos themselves- here’s a dog in mid-action. I like the dogs in the pictures. Anyway, the living room is lovely.
Look at this guy, sitting on the fountain. This house is seriously original and in great condition.
Double-sided fireplace is in the kitchen/dining area. I guess they painted the cabinets black, but I like them.
I like the main bd.
Look at this- they made a coffee bar in the closet.
Neat laundry room.
The 2nd bd. has a typically 70s mural wallpaper. I think that architecture shaming this home is especially harsh- I like it- it’s got so many original features, is so well-maintained, and minimally updated. I wouldn’t change a thing. (Of course, everything is a shame in the shame groups and if you say you like it, you’re kicked out.)
1218 South Willow Avenue - a home by the Lustron Corp.
Seriously, I will never understand how these didn't catch on. They have a phenomenal survival rate, considering, and were stunningly low maintenance. Also being well planned and only taking TWO WEEKS to assemble...
Good ideas never catch.
Moving inside, let's have a look at the main floor of this beautiful 1950s house!!
A time capsule, this house was built in the late 1950s and has been left almost completely untouched.
Homes like this are becoming more and more rare and it is always a shame when they are demolished. This house is no different, it was bought for the land and will be replaced with something much, much larger.
i actually think that having a fight with his wife/niece that ends with her calling him pathetic and then Immediately running off to the most cursed castle in westeros to get Haunted™️ is both hilarious and the best thing that could've happened for daemon's character development

A little snippet of yesterday's double bill of nerdery: comic con + an evening with the cast of Ghosts. Mat had to write a poem about the book during the panel. Loved loved loved seeing so many Ghosts cosplayers from teacup humans to middle aged men. A tiny Pat got to wear Pat's actual screen worn glasses 🥹
7 and 48 and also a bonus question: how many old men have you bred in the last week?
7. Groceries I've been getting into lately? None. I hate grocery shopping, I hate cooking, I am barely okay with eating. I eat to live, I don't live to eat. I wish my body didn't need food 😭
48. What feature am I putting in a house I'm building from scratch? Oh, I am building myself a 1950s-1960s era Midcentury Modern house, complete with period furniture, appliances, and a CONVERSATION PIT. I want a conversation pit so bad.
Bonus: I did not breed any old men last week! I've been in the midst of writers block. Or inspiration/motivation block, however you want to put it 😭
WTH House. This home fascinated me right from the start. It's a good price, for 3bd, 2ba 1977 Mid-century modern in Tucson, Arizona at $345K. I thought that wall of hanging ornaments was kind of nice, until I saw what it was.
Oh. Anyway, if you are a fan of purple, you're going to like this house.
Notice it's the only gated home in the neighborhood and the gate is purple. (Is something going on in there?)
Okay, so this is the living room. There's a skylight and some funky lights on the ceiling.
There's a lot of glass block in the house. Note how they staged the island to let buyers know that it's a counter as well as a cooktop.
See? But it looks like only 1 big burner and 1 smaller.
Maybe it's a warming tray.
It does, however, have cool purple lights.
There's a large dining area.
In the primary is a glass block wall, a purple carpet, purple walls, and 2 bare bulb lights for the bed that convey.
This bathroom has a purple glass bowl sink and the grout spells out "AXE." They must be fans of Axe cologne?
This bedroom has sliders to the yard.
The 2nd bath has a modern glass sink installed on an old piece of furniture. Has a nice big shower, though.
This looks like it was an outer door/wall, but they built another bedroom onto it.
There's the addition. Looks so flimsy.
There's a small patio in the back, plus a dirt yard.
There are some plants in the front. of the purple house and some weeds scattered around the back.
The entire lot is the only one in the neighborhood that's enclosed in a cinder block wall.
And finally, let's have a look at the second floor as well as the basement of this spectcular house!!
