Amazing embroidered map of Middle Earth WIP, already so beautiful
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Panel 7 of the map is done, and so is the first big forest area. Now it’s on to Panel 8 and a return to stitching the mountains. Nearly half way done!

I like to think of my illustrations as small doors to other worlds. Some are inspired by Tolkien, Sanderson or Tad Williams, like this Middle-earth map and the scene featuring Tanahaya and Aditu's, others come from my own stories, with creatures who dream, wander, or simply breathe.
If any of these drawings speak to you, I have more on VGen, where scene commissions are open with a discount (up to 2 characters + background). I’d love to help bring your story to life.
🖋️ You can also find me on Bluesky, Instagram, or anywhere there's a table, some paper, and a longing to tell something beautiful.
Thank you for being here. 💛

I'm making a giant map of Middle Earth with Cross Stitch! It's 14 count and should be 32x24 inches when completed. I drafted it using Pic2Pat, and there are 25 colors, 24 pages, and I'm 23% complete.
If you have any question/stuff to say/whatever, say hi! I miss the r/crossstitch community.

At a cafe that has maps of fictional worlds on the wall (no lotr UNFORTUNATELY but I’ve spotted Baldur’s Gate, Redwall, Ocarina of Time Hyrule, and some more that I don’t recognize) but amongst all of them is a map of Massachusetts in the same style with a medieval uncial style font

“Moon-letters are rune-letters, but you cannot see them,” said Elrond, “not when you look straight at them. They can only be seen when the moon shines behind them, and what is more, with the more cunning sort it must be a moon of the same shape and season as the day when they were written. The dwarves invented them and wrote them with silver pens… These must have been written on a midsummer’s eve in a crescent moon, a long while ago.”
- J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit.

Barbara Remington and Christopher Tolkien Map of Middle Earth (1965) Source
“The poster is a composite of the iconic map of Middle Earth drawn by Tolkien’s third son Christopher (1924-2020) and included in the original English editions of LOTR, with Remington’s own cover designs for Ballantine’s 1965 paperback edition of Tolkien’s work. The map forms the poster’s central design element, but enlivened by Remington with added color; a decorative compass rose and what looks very much like a Viking longship; and dashed lines delineating both Bilbo’s and Frodo’s journeys.”
