My copy of ‘The Shaping of Middle Earth’ has one of Tolkien’s early maps of Beleriand printed on its endpapers.

Amazing embroidered map of Middle Earth WIP, already so beautiful

Panel 7 of the map is done, and so is the first big forest area. Now it’s on to Panel 8 and a return to stitching the mountains. Nearly half way done!

I like to think of my illustrations as small doors to other worlds. Some are inspired by Tolkien, Sanderson or Tad Williams, like this Middle-earth map and the scene featuring Tanahaya and Aditu's, others come from my own stories, with creatures who dream, wander, or simply breathe.

I'm making a giant map of Middle Earth with Cross Stitch! It's 14 count and should be 32x24 inches when completed. I drafted it using Pic2Pat, and there are 25 colors, 24 pages, and I'm 23% complete.

The map forms the poster’s central design element, but enlivened by Remington with added color; a decorative compass rose and what looks very much like a Viking longship; and dashed lines delineating both Bilbo’s and Frodo’s journeys.”
