Quick little art piece, in between commissions... I noticed when I follow instructions for a while my art can get too technical instead of artsy.. if that makes sense? So to get back to adding life to art I need creativity in between for my weird brain
and oh look my Map Maker

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Rahim Forgotten History • Who is Al-Idrisi? Abu Abdullah Muhammad Al Idrisi Al Qutubi Al Hassan Al Sabi, also known as "Al-Idrisi". Al- Idrisi was the first to create a map. He was born 1099 in Ceuta, Morocco. Al-Idrisi was a Moroccan Geographer, Cartographer and was also a fine poet & writer. After Al-Idrisi finished his studies in Corodoba, he went out to explore the European continent. Before Al-Idrisi's time other Muslim geographers traveled the world to obtain geographical data. He combined this knowledge with his own knowledge. Al-Idrisi's first map was based on his book "Katib Nuzhat Al-Mushtaq fi Ikhtiraq Al- Afaq". Seven of his books were translated into Latin. Likewise, his books were popular for seven centuries! The coming generations of European cartographers altered Al-Idrisi's original work. Which made the Southern part of the world below in terms of knowledge and advancement compared to the Northern part or the Europeans. It is said that Christopher Columbus work was originally derived from Al-Idrisi's work. Some of the world's greatest scholars, explores and cartographers were inspired by Al-Idrisi's work like; Ibn Khaldun, Ibn Battuta and Vasco de Gama and many more.
