REGIONS (Descriptions taken from the Adventurer's Bible)
WESTERN CONTINENT
Description: Bears the most scars from the ancient war. It has many monsters and ruined dungeons, and although it's vast, there are surprisingly few habitable areas. Most of the inhabitants are sturdy, short-lived races and demihumans. Elven culture has had a strong influence here. Characters: Kabru and Kuro Places of Note: Utaya Dungeons of Note: The Utaya Dungeon, The Dragon's Lair
NORTHERN CENTRAL CONTINENT
Description: The continent that is home to the largest nation, ruled by the queen of the elves. The term "Western Elves" mostly indicates elves from this region. It's the safest area and life is easy here, but its shrinking population has dangerously weakened it. Characters: Mithrun (and the Canaries) Places of Note: Western Elves's Royal District, Canarie's Headquarters. Dungeons of Note: Central Watchtower
SOUTHERN CENTRAL CONTINENT
Description: The area with the second-largest elf nation. It has more inbound immigration than the Northern Central Continent and a rather disorganized atmosphere. While it's in an alliance with the Northern Central Continent, they really aren't on good terms. Characters: - Places of Note: - Dungeons of Note: -
EASTERN CONTINENT
Description: Home to the largest gnome nation. Once dwarfs and gnomes made up the majority of the inhabitants, but in recent years there has been an influx of short-lived races from the Northern Continent and Eastern Archipelago, and the population is growing rapidly. It's a melting pot where various cultures are jumbled together. Characters: Chilchuck Tims (Kahka Brud), Senshi (Izganda) Places of Note: Magic School, The Island/Melini, Kahka Brud, Izganda, Dozahk, Bonnario, Sadena Dungeons of Note: Island, Brud Dungeon Cluster, Budou Pit, Tower of Night Cries

EASTERN ARCHIPELAGO
Description: An area where short-lived races live. As a result of a pact, there has been no interference by long-lived races for a very long time. The effects of the ancient war are slight, and they have almost no trouble with monsters or dungeons, but there's constant strife among humans. SOUTHERN CONTINENT
Description: Home to the largest dwarf city. Gnome and dwarf nations often build down rather than out, and the innermost layers are extraordinarily deep. War still erupts frequently, and there are never-ending disputes near the borders. Characters: - Places of Note: - Dungeons of Note: -

More Dino Care Attendant au concepts
Plot twist humans are the ones in enclosures at this park, thankfully they have the DCA to bring some Dino’s to them! Other than that visitors are welcome to observe the animals in their (relatively) natural habitat from inside the safety of the glass walls.

I finally finished a NEW CUSTOM MAP ART!!! "Visitor," a portrait of an enderman, is extra exciting because it's my first full-palette map painting, meaning I used block height to access all the highlight and shadow colours available!! More on the full process under the cut, but the short version of what this means is:
ITS A VERY COMPLICATED CONSTRUCTION. I created the art, then planned and built this manually, without any mods or schematics for construction. Huge props again to everyone else in the server for helping me gather all the materials to make this absurd thing possible!!!
This was the original art I made for it! I'm a huge fan of the "compressed" look of the vanilla paintings, so I've been starting with a large image and shrinking it down, though there were a lot of pixel tweaks to get it to read well. After shrinking it to 16x32 (for an art made of two maps), I convert it to a limited palette that I've set up to match the colours minecraft actually has available:
The map palette is actually tremendously limited, so figuring out a painting that will still look good with that constraint is a challenge in and of itself!
Anyway, the way minecraft maps work, a block that is Taller than the block to the north of it shows up with a slightly lighter colour, and a block that is Lower than the block north of it shows up on the map with a slightly darker colour. So when making a key for this one, I marked all the squares with a little arrow if it's the lighter or darker version:
Each "pixel" here is a full stack of blocks on the mapped area: 64 blocks, 8 rows of 8. In order to achieve the affect of every block in a given pixel being taller or shorter than the block to the north of it, dark and light shades need to staircase either up or down. Because staircasing downwards in survival sounds even worse than this madness, I did some planning to make sure each of the "downwards" staircases would touch the ground, so I could simply staircase up from south to north instead. This involved figuring out how many up and down movements were in each individual column and planning out 32 little layouts:
It's worth noting that if you look up minecraft map art on Youtube, most of what you'll find is either, the simple realisation that placing blocks allows you to make custom map art, or an explanation of how to use a generator that will let you plug in any picture and then produce a schematic for you. It's very cool that these exist, but I wanted to do full palette art myself, without an auto-generated schematic, and at the time THERE JUST WEREN'T ANY TUTORIALS FOR HOW TO DO ALL THIS?? Now, having the experience of finagling all this, i think perhaps the reason is that this is a mad undertaking.
ANYWAY: PROGRESS SHOTS!!
I actually love how the staircases look..... its like some kind of modern sculpture
Fewer shots of the second half since I did it on call with friends; the last screenshot is one Thren took of me activating the new locked map to use for the gallery.
Once these paintings are done, I lock the finished maps, make copies, and stock them in the art gallery so other friends on our server can also put these paintings in their homes! It's a lot of work, but really rewarding to see my art decorating various buildings around the server. ;u;
I have one more custom full-palette painting I've done the art for and gathered all materials for; I still need to do the full key and plan staircasing for it before I can start, but HOPEFULLY if my resolve doesn't waver there'll be at least one more of these!!

So obviously I need a copy of the map for the board, but 15 screenshots of Julia's beautifully rendered map is a bit much, space wise.
So I created this mess!!
(all traced from Julia's beautiful original maps obv)
Edit: added Papa's Pizza and Night Owl Books as suggested by @spectros, although building breaks on the map don't line up super well with what we actually see on the street, so I've split the sticky for now.
Edit 2: added Ruth's Appliances as suggested by @discocandles, as well as Alley Records, 'SAP' and 'FIRE'

Also I think I got Brigstoc's location correct, but do tell if you think otherwise.
Cool things I noticed while tracing this out:
The call that the snake is on fire came from Lost Orc, meaning it is probably the head that is on fire, the head is directly over "Cave Square" which is a little concerning if anyone was in there at the time.
Echo eyewear is on Echo Lane but Echo Drugs is not, this suggests they're owned by the same people but E. Eyewear (the smaller of the two) is the original location.
There's a building labeled "The Art League" wonder what they think of Skeet?
Two buildings next to each other belong to "Mountain Goats" and "Woodworms", and while it's most likely these belong to groups dedicated to those creatures, I prefer to think they're music fanatics dedicated to The Mountain Goats and Will Wood, and they have debates over which is better every Tuesday.
The convenience store "Clock Corner" doesn't have a clear sight line to the Clock Tower.
One special interest location is "Steamed Trains" I assume this is a gourmand society, and I wonder how Ogalvy feels about it.
Psychics are considered a service.
How the heck did someone put up the Snake statue with no one noticing?!?! IT'S HUGE!!!!
In E2 the exit from Cave Square Labels itself as to "Clock Tower Alley" which is not labelled on the map, we can probably safely assume this is the original name of Main Street.
With every edit I make to this map I am blown away by the scope of Julia's world building.

Been scrambling between different psychoanalytic models for inspiration for different layers of the planet such as the atmosphere, geosphere, latitudes and orbiting bodies representing the inner worlds of my social circle. I mainly took inspiration from Carl Jung’s and Roberto Assagioli’s models.

alright, so jevin has wing huh? here's the real question, how well can he actually fly?? anyway, i love him so muchh, the way you designed him makes me wanna give him a rub on the back and wings-
ooh flight inquiry, i imagine jevin is able to take himself at any height he desires but simply chose to stay grounded
he although preferrably goes as high as the height of octave hills (one of the locations i made up for my au, need to draw a map for future refs lol) which is generally at 14ft

Doing an oc's house layout map sounds really fun actually. Fucking hate drawing anything other than people tho, so
#dungeon meshi's house maps opened my eyes to how fucking cool they could be tbh#i think i could have fun just thinking ab who lives w who and like the general vibes of their houses#tetsuo lives with his dad#tsuki and sora both lived with Daisuke but he eventually kicked them both out#unsure if they still live together but they probably figured smthn out#daisuke's house probably either doubles as or connects directly to whatever medical building they have#so he also just always has extra beds and space#the twins ofc live together but are otherwise alone since their dad died#tetsuo probably offered them to move in w him and Maru once they made space#but they declined#the Hatake's as a whole are nomadic and move + rebuild everything from scratch every couple of years#so their homes living situations and layouts change constantly#probably none of them live alone tho#daisuke discounted bc people are constantly in his fucking space#anyways yeah drawing this sounds kind of fun (if painful)#ive been doodling Daisuke and Tsuki's mom interacting so maybe Ill draw some homes and include that w it when I post stuff#Daisuke kicking out Tsuki and Sora deserves to be drawn tbh#birds rambles#wolves of the woods
