Funkadelic: “Not Just Knee Deep” Pts. I & II German 7″ (1979)
Right then and there it’s the father of De La Soul’s “Me Myself And I” (1989) where Posdnuos, Trugoy, Maseo and (ultimately) Prince Paul took plenty of elements from “Not Just Knee Deep” and put that ball into hip-hop’s court. This was one of the many essential pieces of the puzzle that made De La-’s breakout single and 3 Feet High And Rising which helped put Amityville, Long Island on the hip-hop map.
