Wednesday: A Dance with Shadows

Chapter 2

"I had a vision." I began, my tone as grim as the scene replaying in my mind. "I didn't realize Enid would be tangled in this nightmare. Someone was performing a seance, black candles flickering ominously around them. Their face was obscured, shrouded in shadows. I couldn't make out who they were but they were using dark magic to possess students, turning them into killers. Why? I don’t know yet. But if we’re going to clear Enid's name, we need to unravel this mystery." I paused, my voice dropping lower. "We also need someplace more secure to talk. Thing is already out searching for whoever Enid supposedly harmed, but for now, we need a plan. Something to stop this madness before it spirals further."

Xavier crossed his arms, a spark of determination lighting his eyes. "No place better than the Nightshade meeting room." He said firmly, his voice laced with urgency. "Come on."

We hurried out of the room, our footsteps echoing in the dim hallway as we made our way to the secret Nightshade society chamber. Xavier and Ajax flanked Enid, steadying her as they guided her carefully down the stairs. She was still pale, her usual vibrant energy dulled by exhaustion and guilt.

"Welcome to the club, Eugene." Ajax said with a grin, trying to lighten the mood.

Eugene gave a nervous chuckle. "Guess I'm part of this now." He replied, a small, uncertain smile tugging at his lips. Mia, Grace and Selene were already invited into the society this morning and had gotten used to everything. Eugene originally wasn't interested as he said he needed to have time for his babies, the bees he so carefully tends to.

At the front of the group, Selene strode purposefully to the bookshelf, her hand skimming over the spines of the dusty books. She stopped abruptly and yanked out a bulky, blue vintage book. The shelf creaked and shifted, revealing the hidden entrance to the Nightshade meeting room.

The room was small but cozy, illuminated by the warm glow of hanging lanterns. A round table stood at its center, surrounded by plush, inviting chairs. We filed in silently, the air thick with tension, and took our seats. All eyes turned to me, waiting for direction.

Before I could speak, Thing scuttled into the room just as Selene moved to close the bookshelf door.

The injured student had been rushed to the hospital. The good news: they were alive. The bad news: their injuries were severe, and the trail of blood had led straight back to Enid.

Principal Blackthorn was now searching for her, following reports from students who had seen her stumbling out of the girls' bathroom, her hands slick with blood. She woke up, thinking she was hurt but she wasn't. Enid thought of the worst, that she had harmed or killed someone without her knowing what happened. That explained why she'd arrived soaked to the bone. She'd been trying to scrub away the evidence.

"Who is it, Thing?" Yoko's voice broke the heavy silence. Her gaze bore into the hand, willing it to move faster.

Thing hesitated for a moment longer before continuing, his fingers tapping out the victim's identity with nervous urgency.

"Arden Locke? The shadow-controlling genius? I'm hoping this isn't just a plot to copy his answers for the exams. We'll focus on that motive first until proven wrong." I stood up and slammed my fist on the table.

Everyone was shocked when I did that but it's better that they're alert than not at all. This is a serious crime we are dealing with and they need to pay attention if we're gonna catch this evil magician.

"Good job, Thing." I praised him and I allowed him to jump back on my shoulder.

They all had different reactions but it was clear that we all wanted justice for our good friend Arden and also for messing with Enid.

Xavier's expression darkens, his usual calm demeanor faltering. "Arden... No, this can't be happening." His fists clench at his sides as he fights to keep control of his emotions.

Bianca's expression hardens, the concern in her eyes quickly morphing into a focused, almost icy determination. "We need to find whoever did this. Arden doesn't deserve this. And we won't stop until he gets justice."

Selene's eyes flash with a dangerous glint. "Arden? Whoever did this will regret ever crossing him." Her voice is calm but laced with a deep, almost predatory certainty. Everyone else nodded and agreed to what she said.

"Arden? No! Poor Arden, he didn't deserve this! This is a nightmare! Everyone, look at me." Tears streamed down Enid's face once more. She was more concerned about Arden's well-being than the fact that she could be arrested at any moment.

Enid straightened up, her tear-streaked face hardening with determination as she looked at everyone. "Wednesday. Promise me. Promise me that you'll kick this dark, evil person's ass for me."

I walked closer to Enid to sit next to her, Ajax giving up his spot for me. I took her hand and wiped away her tears. I don't usually do this, but these times are different. If we mess this up, Enid could be blamed for everything and we can't let that happen especially not after what's happened to both Arden and her.

"Listen to me, Enid. Whoever did this to you and Arden, we will find them and we will make them pay. You won't go to prison for something you didn't do. I promise you, we'll make sure of that. For now, just try to relax and call your parents." I looked into her eyes and reassured her that I will take care of everything with a nod.

"What's our course of action now? Wednesday, I think you should lead. You've dealt with things as bad as this before." Selene said as she stood up and crossed her arms, her eyes looking more fiery than usual.

"Sorry to say this but Mia, Grace and Selene, we don't know you that well so we have to put you in the suspects list. It's just for good measure." Xavier told us, his facial expressions were more serious than ever.

"Okay so what's the plan, leader." Eugene said as he turned to me.

"We need to split into two teams." I said, my tone cool and authoritative. "I need someone to be on Enid duty so Ajax and Yoko, you will stay with her. She shouldn't be left alone right now. Mia, Grace, Selene, Xavier, Eugene, Bianca and I would be looking for any dark magic or seance books that could have that specific one we're wanting to stop. I doubt that this school will want something like that dangerous book here but it's not that bad for a start. We'll start here, the Obsidian Archive."

Ajax and Yoko helped Enid up so they could take her to the sink and help her clean up. Grace took clean clothes for Enid to change into and gave it to Yoko who was looking after Enid with Ajax.

The book-searching team separated into three groups so we could find it much faster.

I glanced over at Enid, my eyes narrowing in concern. Yoko had helped her change into fresh clothes, and now she sat slumped in a chair, her face pale and tight with fear.

Ajax stood by the sink, scrubbing the bloodstained clothes she had been wearing but his focus seemed to waver with every scrubbing motion. Enid's eyes darted nervously around the room, her hands twisted together in her lap like she couldn't shake the panic eating at her.

My chest tightened. I hated seeing her like this, vulnerable and scared. She didn't deserve this.

"Get some plushies and snacks for her." I ordered Thing, my voice steady. "And Ajax, please help Thing."

Ajax and Thing came back with some of Enid's favorite plushies and snacks. Yoko helped them place the plushies around Enid while Thing and Ajax arranged the snacks and drinks on the table. It was ready just in case we get hungry or thirsty while hunting for books about dark magic or seances.

Mia and Grace were still rifling through the bookshelves, their eyes scanning each book with the intensity of someone searching for something they knew they'd recognize but couldn't quite find. I didn't need to look at them to know how frustrated they were. The air was thick with the weight of their silence.

"Any luck?" Grace asked, her voice almost a whisper, as though speaking too loudly would shatter the focus they needed.

Mia didn't even look up from the titles she was scanning, shaking her head slightly. "No. None of these are right."

She held a few books in her arms, flipping through pages with growing irritation, while Grace continued to pull out book after book with no better result. The tension in the room was mounting and my patience was wearing thin. We needed to find that book.

A voice broke through the silence, soft but cutting. "Wednesday." Eugene said and I turned to meet his gaze. He pointed over towards Xavier and Selene, who were now deep into their own bickering.

I followed his gaze and watched them, a brief flicker of amusement tugging at the corner of my lips. Xavier was standing with a frown on his face, holding a book that he clearly hadn't yet fully absorbed. Selene, on the other hand, was moving at the speed of light, flipping through titles like she was hunting for a needle in a haystack.

"You're so slow." She snapped, tossing aside another book, her frustration mounting by the second. "Hurry up, Xavier!"

Xavier shot back instantly, his pride clearly bruised. "I'm going as fast as I can, okay? Stop nagging me!"

I couldn't help but let out a quiet laugh. "Selene's right." I said, my voice deadpan but I couldn't keep the small smirk from appearing. "I admire how quickly she works. It's impressive."

Bianca, who was nearby, muttered under her breath as she sifted through another pile of books. "They should be siblings. He clearly needed that scolding."

The sound of their bickering faded into the background as I turned back to the task at hand.

I couldn't ignore Enid for much longer. The guilt of leaving her alone gnawed at me. I looked over, finding her leaning against Ajax, her eyes closed, exhausted. She'd fallen asleep so quickly as though the weight of everything had finally caught up with her. Ajax was seated beside her, a silent sentinel, his attention still divided between her and the books we were supposed to be hunting down.

"Selene." I called out to her who has been reading so fast. "Could you conjure up a bed for Enid? She doesn't look comfortable and she needs to rest."

Yoko nodded and returned to the bookshelves without a word.

Another hour passed in tense silence. Mia, Grace, and I sifted through the endless shelves of books, our fingers brushing over the dusty spines, each of us looking for something specific, something that would give us the answers we needed. I was no closer to finding it. The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife, broken only by the occasional rustle of a page or the thud of a discarded book hitting the floor.

I caught sight of Selene's movements again. She was moving faster than anyone else in the room, throwing books aside with the speed of someone who knew exactly what they were looking for. The noise of her throwing them onto the floor was nearly rhythmic, like a countdown.

"Slowpoke." Selene teased Xavier as she tossed another book aside, eyes already scanning for the next one.

Xavier, who had clearly had enough of her criticism, shot back. "Maybe you should stop tossing everything around if you want me to keep up."

"Guys, keep it down." I muttered, although it wasn't really a reprimand. I was highly impressed by Selene and Grace. One's a siren and one's a vampire-witch who has a bit of a superhuman speed but I figured both of them were bookworms. I could hear them mutter that they've read a certain book while searching for the ones we need. I'm well-versed in books as well but I haven't heard of this specific dark magic. That's when I had the thought that it might be a special one like a book passed on from a descendant.

After we gathered all the books that could potentially contain anything on dark magic or seances, we each took a spot on the floor. Without wasting a moment, we began skimming through the pages, determined to find what we needed.

The atmosphere lightened for a moment but the seriousness of our task quickly crept back in.

Then, the silence stretched on again. It was only broken when Selene called out, her voice full of triumph. "Guys, I think this is it." We all looked up at her and froze.

She held up a book, its cover dark and old, the leather worn from age. She opened it to a page and read aloud, "This is the art of the Possession Seance."

"That's it! I mean what other name would it have? That's what we need." Yoko commented as she heard the passage that Selene read for them.

"Are you sure that's the one?" Grace spoke after Yoko, her voice a mix of awe and disbelief.

Mia leaned closer, her arms still cradling another stack of useless books. "It has to be. That sounds exactly like what we're dealing with."

Xavier ran a hand through his hair, his expression caught between relief and unease. "Great. But now what?"

Bianca crossed her arms, her tone skeptical but curious. "This better not be another dead end. We've wasted enough time already."

Eugene adjusted his glasses, leaning forward with wide eyes. "What's it say? How does it work?"

I silenced them all with a pointed look. "Toss it to me, Selene."

She didn't hesitate, throwing the book my way. My fingers caught it with practiced precision and I immediately began flipping through the pages, my eyes scanning every word. But just as I was getting to the good part, the sound of footsteps above us froze me in place. My heart stopped and a sickening feeling crept over me.

The footsteps were getting closer and closer.

We had no time to waste.

I looked at Selene and she nodded. Without a word, the books began flying back to their shelves, each one returning to its proper place with a flick of her hand. The speed at which she worked was nothing short of incredible and the rest of us scrambled to help, stuffing the remaining books back into place.

The footsteps grew louder but we were almost done. The last book slid onto the shelf just as the door to the library creaked open.

Principal Blackthorn appeared at the top of the stairs, Sheriff Galpin right behind her. A few authorities followed, their presence looming like a dark cloud.

"Nightshades." Principal Blackthorn's voice was heavy with regret. "I'm sorry but I'm taking Enid Sinclair. I know you want to protect her but she’s guilty. She was seen with blood on her hands and everywhere. There's nothing else we can do about it."

My stomach dropped. I stood frozen for a moment before stepping forward, unable to hide the desperation in my voice. "Principal Blackthorn, please! I had a vision and it involves Enid being a puppet in this crime. I saw someone using a seance and dark magic to possess her. You can take her but if the incidents and possible killings continue, you must let her go free. She wouldn't do this!"

She shook her head, her expression soft with regret. "You're getting visions again? Seeing as you saved this school last time you had visions, I'd like to hear you explain all about this vision of yours in my office. But for now, I'm afraid Enid has to go. I'm sorry."

I felt my heart shatter as Enid was woken up, her eyes wide with panic as she saw the authorities around her. She barely had an hour of sleep and now it was all falling apart. She started begging, tears streaming down her face, her voice trembling as she pleaded.

"I swear, I didn't do it! Please, you have to believe me!" She kept saying those words as she was being handcuffed by the Sheriff.

She was lead toward the door and later we were running through the courtyard. Before she was escorted into the police car, she looked at me. Her face streaked with tears. "Wednesday, you're the only one who can figure this out. Please, help me!"

I nodded, though my throat tightened with fear. "I will end this, Enid. You didn't do this and I'll prove it. Whoever dared to frame you will regret ever crossing paths with me."

And as they took her away, my stomach churned with dread, but I knew one thing: I would find out who was behind all of this. I had to.

Christmas Carols

Summary: The school has to do compulsory Christmas carolling but Wednesday has other plans..

“Attention students, we are having an assembly. Please make your way to the hall,” the intercom said, Wednesday grumbling, as it was a Saturday at 2 p.m., and it was one of her writing times. Enid groaned, her manicure being half-finished by Thing.

“Looks like we’ll have to finish later. Babe, can you open every door for me and make sure no one knocks me too? I don’t want to ruin my nails,” Enid asked.

“Of course, Cara Mia,” she spoke, standing up as she opened the door. She didn’t bother about changing even if she was wearing some loose sweatpants and one of Enid’s dark blue hoodies with the San Jose Sharks logo, even if she was a New Jersey Devils fan. Enid was wearing some purple sweatpants and Wednesday’s New Jersey Devils hoodie. They were perfect for each other.

Wednesday did her job, blocking everyone from knocking Enid, who was holding her nails out as she was waiting for them to dry. Wednesday missed Yoko’s glance over though, but Enid didn’t. That was when she mouthed at her. ‘She’s a simp for me, she is my soulmate’ she mouthed and Yoko just smirked, holding Divina’s hand before she went to the opposite side. “Might as well help out. Hello fellow gays,” Yoko spoke. 

“Call me that again and you will have a stake through your heart,” Wednesday threatened. Yoko laughed, even if she was being glared at. She knew Wednesday wouldn’t hurt her though, it would upset Enid… and also they were now friends. They shared some of the same morbid interests like taxidermy and death. Hell, she answered some of Wednesday’s questions when Wednesday finally got the confidence to ask her. Safe to say, they were much closer than before and Enid loved that. 

Soon, everyone was in the assembly hall and were sat down as Weems was at the front. She had survived the nightshade poisoning, the medics helping her just in time which Wednesday was thankful for, but she wouldn’t admit it out loud. She did suffer from migraines usually now though, so Wednesday tried to not make as much trouble as possible. She also told Weems wherever she went now, even after curfew so that Weems stressed for no reason. They were more friendly now and Wednesday had improved. In fact, she became a Nightshade, having a circle around her was good. She trusted them all in her investigations now, all having one bit if they wanted to be in it. 

“I am glad to see most of you here. I would like to apologise for interrupting your plans but I need to announce that this Winter we will be going out on the 8th of December carolling. It is mandatory and a way to try to get Normies to like you guys more so there is no discrimination. Now, I do not want any complaints unless your religion doesn’t allow it. You will be allowed to sit it out. You just need to inform me,” she spoke, the assembly soon being dismissed as Wednesday was scowling. “I am getting out of it…” Wednesday spoke, thinking of a way.

“But babe, we can go together,” Enid pouted, stretching ‘babe’ out. Wednesday mumbled, Yoko and Bianca, watching as everyone else was in conversation. Wednesday glared at them before she sighed. 

“Fine… but only because it is for you,” she spoke. Enid grinned and smiled. 

“We can wear our snoods too!” Enid added. Wednesday couldn’t help but groan, but she was way too soft for Enid. She was just like her father, slowly getting more and more physically affectionate. It was obvious, especially when she was holding Enid’s hand in the hall, and she wasn't aware until Enid squeezed it gently. She blushed but kept ahold of it and Enid grinned at that. She couldn’t wait until December 8th.

The day soon came and Enid was eager. She had gotten her nails into Christmas colours. Green, red and blue. She also had 1 black nail on each hand to represent her girlfriend, same as Wednesday who had 2 pink nails on each hand. Wednesday meanwhile was not excited. She was wearing some loose jeans, her usual boots and her Devils hoodie, which still smelt a little of her girlfriend. They also had on their snoods as they were outside waiting, patiently, for everyone. Well, Wednesday wasn’t patient as she was just scowling. “I could be writing but no, we have to try and get validation from the Normies. Could this night get any worse?” Wednesday grumbled as the Nightshades stood around.

“Yes, you could get frostbite,” Bianca spoke.

“That would make it better. That is why I have not decided to wear gloves as I would love to feel the pleasurable pain,” Wednesday spoke. “Wednesday,” Enid warned. Wednesday pouted and mumbled an apology before she stood still again, although her foot kept tapping on the ground. It was 4 pm before they went to the bus to start. Wednesday was not ready for this hell as she leaned back in her seat, her head thrown back. Enid meanwhile laid her head on Wednesday’s shoulder and kissed her neck murmuring reassuring things. It was working as she was slowly starting to slowly untense. 

Once in town, they got off the bus and Wednesday was stretching as she popped her back a little and Enid eyed her as she smirked. “You ready for hell?” Enid asked jokingly. 

“I would rather be chained up again,” Wednesday spoke.

“Hey! No joking about that,” Enid told her off lightly. “Sorry,” Wednesday quickly apologised and Bianca chuckled.

“You have her on a leash don’t you?” Bianca joked. 

“Yes, she is down bad,” Enid laughed as Wednesday growled just like a wolf. She was happy Enid taught her how to. Weems immediately interrupted them, giving them the books that they had used for practice. Wednesday declined hers, however, having learnt it. She had a good memory after all. Wednesday and Enid were soon walking to where they would be carolling. The stage. There were a ton of normies already there and Wednesday was uncomfortable. She would do it for Enid though and Enid was thankful for that. She loved performing, yes, but she also wanted to have her girlfriend there. She was happy to start singing, in time. Wednesday took part whenever she felt like it, but Weems was watching Wednesday, she could feel it. Weems was making sure no funny business would happen. Meanwhile, Thing was busy with the stands.

They kept singing for 10 minutes, Wednesday periodically taking breaks as she took sips from Enid’s bottle. That was when the stands suddenly went backwards and the crowd went backwards. Wednesday smirked, and Enid sighed. No wonder Thing had been on the bus but was trying to hide. She couldn’t change her, and Weems sighed too. Safe to say Wednesday was in trouble later.

Cant say I like starscream being the villain I really was hoping that the main conflict of season two would be the mia autobots and newly released cons struggling to assimilate with humans and the non mia autobots, like there’s a real big disconnect between the two groups, and the Terrans are just in the middle of it, especially if the mia autobots sympathize with the decepticons and have an aversion to the active autobots, I really thought we would finally have a tf piece of media that would finally stop the “starscream is always destined for being evil” especially with how he has a connection with hashtag and genuinely cares for her, but no starscream is a probably gonna be a mid villain, the ONLY role where it would be interesting if star was the villain is if his schemes are against the autobots and especially megatron how how heavily persecuted the cons are and that they had to fight to barely survive especially if they didn’t want to be in jail, I just hope they do something interesting, like humans having civil unrest because cons are being “accepted” in to society and them protesting it, I would be even better if this persecution and fear mongering affected the autobots and Terrans. Also it literally make no sense for them to be attacking the maltos THEY LITERALLY JUST HELPED THEM FIGHT MANDROID, maybe starscream is having a manic episode or megatron did something to really piss him off

But if the evildoings of the cons is just them doing childish bs then I’ll gladly watch that

which if their by the wayside that will be really disappointing because imo they are like the most interesting Terran and the one who has the most opportunity for character growth, especially with how open minded they are, this either mean they become a minor character (which would just be bad writing and a wasted opportunity) or the become a decepticon, AND THEY TOTALLY SHOULD IT WOULD BE SO INTERESTING IF THEY WERE ISOLATED EVEN MORE FROM THEIR FAMILY BECAUSE THEY ARE A DECEPTCON, please con nightshade 🙏🙏🙏

Also also this seems like a very hashtag heavy season which I am very excited about especially because she’s has cool ass powers and she’s my second fav (nightshade will always be my number one ☝️☝️☝️🔥🔥🦅🦅) and I think why it’s hashtag centric season is because starscream is the main villain, and she’s one of like 5? People he likes and seeing someone she’s close too be all evil and shit will probably fuck her up even more.

So in conclusion all I wish for is for lesbian and decepticon nightshades, windblade(PLEASE), and for starscreams motivations to be interesting

A/N: Finally, a year an some change later, the continuance of this post. Does any of this matter outside of flavor text? Not really, but would it be one of my novels without a bunch of worldbuilding that doesn't go anywhere? Warning: spoilers for Unlikely Adventures.

Acquisitions

As we've previously covered, the Department of Acquisitions was the first in the organization, and still remains the foremost. While their primary focus is finding, cataloguing, and researching the material and immaterial scars left behind by The Deep, as well as hunting down artifacts of import to the overall cohabitation and harmonization of beings on both sides of the Veil, a lesser-known function of Acquisitions is its own department of Hunters — these individuals work hand-in-hand with Praesti and Vigilisi to stop Abominations from wreaking too much havoc on the human population and, less glamorously, document the corpses and collect samples of their remains before total ichor dissolution to better help the organization’s understanding of the creatures.

The organization maintains, at any given time, between 6-10 Hunters, depending on how reckless this batch has turned out to be. It’s a dirty job, and someone has to do it, but that also means only the most feral motherfuckers (Editor’s note: their words, not ours) are willing to do it. The current roster consists of thirteen, the highest number Acquisitions has managed to keep in centuries:

Jean-Baptiste “Jaybee” Lamoureaux of the Devil Runners, who insists his name isn’t the only mouthful he’s got;

Camden Priest, werewolf, stop pretending you threw the ball;

Newenna — provided an obscenity as their surname on their paperwork �� Unseelie pixie;

Gixis “the Carver” Unshuz, mosswraith and purveyor of warcrimes;

Bijou Ravette, of vampire clan Nox, who has been kindly reminded to stop using her shadows to steal things from the editor’s pockets;

Vera, parvia thronim, her fall was as anticlimactic as every (Editor’s note: you don’t pay the editor enough to scribe that);

Esit, The Taker of Life, glacial dragon (large, ancient species, she wants emphasis on the large part) and very good at life-taking;

Duncan, a dhampire whose last name is not Donuts;

Elinana, succubus, don’t let the rockin’ knockers fool you (Editor’s note: the editor is so very stressed out, this is supposed to be educational, Exocrux);

Sobris, mediocri potestia, the offense that got him punted may have been nonviolent but boy has he gotten so good at violence since;

Cyraeneus “Cy”, epipelagic merfolk, hobbies include surfing and robbing vending machines;

Knaz Gurram, faun, probably the least feral of the bunch but that’s not a very high bar to clear; and

Hunter-probate, Dillon Monroe, probably fully human, unfortunately fits right in. Hope she has fun.

Resurrections and Immortal Affairs

Working directly beneath Mia in the Department of Resurrections and Immortal Affairs is her crack team of upper management who each handle a cohort of around ten employees but no more than twelve at any given time:

Shavris the Corpsemaker, half high Fae, currently suspended midair for making an unfortunate intern’s lunch dance on the table — her second in command, Duwith Nightshade, is filling in while she contemplates the consequences of her actions;

Wraethik Crow, Seelie highlands troll, very tired of the bridge jokes;

Nerine Hollycockle, dryad, interns are reminded not to touch the oak tree growing randomly in the building unless they have an appointment;

Dogan Deathhand, human and mad about it;

Rakai the Darkheart, also human but living his best life;

Yipris Naxxremis, We Don’t Know What He Is And At This Point We’re Too Afraid To Ask, but the treats he brings the the potluck are scrumptious;

Strogrim the Raised, raised himself, we aren’t sure how but he’s great at his job;

Derys, no last name on file, harpy and happy to be here;

Oreia Panaris, centaur, maintain a safe following distance of Out Of Kicking Range, she startles a lot easier since the microwave incident; and

The newest addition to the team, Damien Lucas, human, a little weird but he’s got the spirit.

Cross-Veil Resources and Research

The primary function of Cross-Veil Resources and Research, or CVR, is to breed a less hostile environment for both sides of the Veil and to facilitate peaceful cohabitation and integration; if you’re not starving and struggling and living in a tent you’re less likely to wreak havoc on the clueless humans, and the human governments are less likely to step in and impose sanctions that will do nothing but create unnecessary tension. CVR itself is divided into several subdepartments:

CV Relations, managed by Exocrux Nightfall, an infernal terror (dragon, medium class, ancient species) who also manages the hiring department for the firm as a whole;

Nutrition Assistance, managed by Brekhar Kane, a dhampire doing his best;

Financial Assistance, managed by Tezor Doomweaver, of vampire clan Nox and sometimes a little too good at acquisition of funding;

Housing Assistance, managed by D’Andrea Foster, a human who sometimes wonders how she ended up here but at least they get dental;

Legal, managed by Povash Mildew, Unseelie pixie who "loves this fucking job so much"; and

Research, Magdalena “Maggie” (Editor’s note: do not call her Maggie, it did not go well but she’s building the editor a new arm, here’s hoping it doesn’t have "dicks for hands" like she threatened) Lovejoy, vampire of the Midnight Descendants clan who is so wonderful and great at her job, she has so many… books, and guns, beautiful antique guns that probably don’t work and very new heavily modified guns she scrapped together at 3pm on no sleep in her office.

Security

Security consists of Tom Smith and roughly two hundred security personnel. No management. It’s just Tom. No, we don’t know how he does it either.

It wasn't uncommon to find people who stuck around long after closing. Usually little more than an icy scowl in their direction could send them hightailing it for the hills, but other circumstances reserved themselves a slightly different approach and spotting the blonde still sparring with the bag in the far corner lived in the open palms of hypocrisy. I'm going to do some fast googleing on the Victorian Language of Flowers to answer this ask, but since I'm not particularly confident in my googling powers, I'm going to put the meaning I've found under each one as well. So potential... hints? of spoilers? beneath the cut :D

🍋Lemon Sugarcoat, He/they - Main muse for the blog and namesake. Adopted kid of Kodiak. Earth pony turned pegasus through getting caught up in an experiment gone wrong, crossing them with a pheonix. Their parents divorced, father went MIA and their mom passed a few years after. They've gone through a lot, but they're doing better now. 💙 Kai Darkstone, he/him, unicorn- Older brother of Lemon, second eldest child to Kodiak (not Sanori's kid, Kai and Sadi have different mothers). Resident nerd, prince charming, and voice of reason. He's very book smart, but can have a hard time understanding social situations. Oddly atheletic

💖Nightshade Darkstone, He/him, pegasus - Married to Kai, childhood best friend to Kai, and had been an unofficial member of the family long before Kai and him were an item. Reckless, energetic, but also charming. Bad boy but respectfully. Nickname is Shade

🧡Sadi(e) Kokoro-Darkstone, He/they, pony dragon hybrid (wingless) - Oldest kid to Sanori (see @cinnavanillamelody) and Kodiak but has the most childlike mindset of them all. He's been raised alongside Cinna, separate from the Darkstone family due to safety concerns. He doesnt see his dad often, but they meet up when they can and Kodiak is currently trying to figure out a spell that will allow him to travel entirely concealed, so he can see Sadi more.

🐺Kodiak Darkstone, He/Him, unicorn - A loving dad with a long and complicated history involving religion and unlearning harmful mindsets he was raised in before he had his kids. Loving husband to a wife, Kira, who isnt on either mine or Mocha's blogs, and life partner with Sanori. He's in a flirty place with Xanaria as well. He's fought hard, mentally and a bit phyiscally, to be where he is today and he cherishes every moment he gets to see his kids smile. Kodiak is usually referred to as Kodi by those close to him.

💜Lucious Vespertilio, he/him, half love-bat pony - Love bat ponies are a bat pony subspecies that, like changelings, thrive off of sharing and feeding off of love. They can survive without it, but once they have it, taking it away can become fatal. Partially because of this, Lucious is a very devoted lover. He's engaged to Mocha, Cinna and Chili from @cinnavanillamelody. He loves to shower them in gifts, affection and lots of yunmmy food! Unfortunately for Cinna and Mocha, he also (unintentionally) catches the attention of many.

📕Alistor Sky, he/him, unicorn - Usually buries himself in his dark magic studies and uses it to cope with his mental health struggles. After being sent to prison for a few years in his teens for a crime he didnt commit, he's had a hard time finding work and making friends. Luckily, he has Nexa Vespertilio (@cinnavanillamelody) to get him out of his shell and into the sunlight from time to time. He has a soft side for small animals and just wishes ponies wouldnt be so quick to judge him.

🐝Bee Bumble, He/they, changeling - Mod pony!! This is to represent me as the artist, so they dont have much substance as a stand-alone character. They dont really know or interact with the other characters of this blog, other than Lemon sometimes and Jaysir from @cinnavanillamelody.
