VPRO heeft een korte serie documentaires gemaakt over de LHBTI+ gemeenschap in Nederland: de Roze Revolutie.

"In de vierdelige serie 'De roze revolutie' onderzoekt regisseur Michiel van Erp vanuit zijn persoonlijke verwondering de historie van de LHBTQIA+-beweging in Nederland in de afgelopen vijftig jaar."

Zowel jongeren als oudere leden van de LHBTI+ gemeenschap worden geïnterviewd over hun ervaringen zowel toen, als nu.

Aflevering 1 gaat over protest, de geschiedenis van de LHBTI+ gemeenschap en wat er nu nog te winnen valt.

Aflevering 2 gaat over solidariteit, zowel binnen als buiten de gemeenschap. Over de AIDS epidemie en het geweld tegen Transpersonen.

Aflevering 3 gaat over lettersoep, identiteit en wat de letters in LHBTIQA+ nu precies betekenen, en over (zelf)acceptatie.

Aflevering 4 zal vanavond (31-05-2021 om 20:35) worden uitgezonden en gaat over vrijheid. Over pride, en over de vrijheid om jezelf te zijn.

Colette Berends (1934 - 2012) performer, beautician, fabric artist.Berends was raised in Zwolle, Overijssel, Netherlands. After a few years of window dresser, she went to Amsterdam and found work in a nightclub as a travestie, and later appeared at Madame Arthur in Amsterdam and Paris.

She had breast augmentation in 1956, and made the transition to regular night clubs, and sang and danced in clubs all over Europe and North Africa. She completed transition to Colette with surgery from Georges Burou in 1971. Two Moroccan gynaecologists certified that she had all the external characteristics of a woman. Three months later, with the help of the noted endocrinologist, Dr O de Vaal, she was able to have her birth certificate re-issued.

“Some people said: the most remarkable fact is that you remained precisely the same person, but now it looks more natural. Indeed, I remained the same. Some transsexuals totally reject their past. They tear apart old photo albums in order not to be reminded by the past. However, I have also lived before my surgery and in some way I was happy too. This is not bothering me too much. I am as I am, I do not impose anything on myself. Sometimes they say: as a woman you have to behave such and such. Nonsense. Even should I have a male characteristic. I don’t know if I have one - then it is like that and that makes me not unhappy.”.

She continued as a performer until she was 48. This gave her the money and the time to take holidays all around the world. Colette then returned to Zwolle, despite the fact that she and her past were known there. At first she opened a beauty salon, but became known for her artistic work with tapestries, for which she has won many awards.

She spent the last 30 years of her life with the same boyfriend, Ton. She died at age 77.

En un mes donde entre otros vi a Assayas, Akin, Almodóvar, Wilder, Ozon o Affleck, me receté la del coreano Bong Joon-ho, "Parasite". Nada mal para agosto, supongo...

Qué buena cinta de Assayas. Manejada por capítulos, y cada uno de ellos dividido en viñetas, es maestra. Actorazos también.

Tschick -  Fatih Akın

Muy buena cinta "juvenil" (no "juveniloide").  Modesta, pero completa. No exagera en situaciones ni en sentimientos. Muy entretenida.

Dolor y Gloria - Pedro Almodóvar

Sorprendentemente buena cinta de Almodóvar. Sobria, cercana, tierna y (aparentemente) muy sincera. Mi reseña aquí.

Rocketman - Dexter Fletcher

Fantasía de cuento de hadas que inesperadamente se acerca a la figura real. No deja de ser una cinta palomera.

Double Indemnity - Billy Wilder

Noir americano clásico. Todo le funciona a Wilder. Excelente entretenimiento.

Grâce à Dieu - Francois Ozon

Estupendo filme de Ozon. Contenido y serio, pero completamente comprometido sobre un crimen imperdonable. Sigo admirando a Ozon…

Niemand In De Stad -  Michiel van Erp

Un buen drama "coming of age" que tiene momentos profundos y deliciosos como también superficiales y chabacanos. Se deja ver.

Parasite - Bong Joon-ho

Excelente filme de Bong Joon-ho. Acido, crítico, humorístico y dramático, misterioso y ligero. Qué buen filme.

Light of my life - Casey Affleck

Una muy buena metáfora de la relación padre-hija, con atmósferas logradísimas y actuaciones excelentes.

Booksmart - Olivia Wilde

Muchos lugares comunes para ser algo "fresco" y ni siquiera graciosa en verdad para arrancar alguna carcajada...

Giant Little Ones - Keith Behrman

Estupenda cinta "coming of age". Sobria, sin golpes bajos, sin clichés evidentes, con grandes actuaciones y excelente guión. Muy, muy disfrutable.

Nederlanders doen vreemde dingen met hun vrije tijd. Zo veel wordt duidelijk in de documentaire die Michiel van Erp maakte over de plaatsen waar de gemiddelde Nederlander recreëert: Bataviastad, de Efteling, de Libelleweek ergens in de polder, Gay Pride en het Prinsengrachtconcert. Van Erp portretteert, met de hem kenmerkende tongue in cheek, de deelnemers aan en organisatoren van de evenementen. Rode draad is de groep rondreizende Chinese toeristen, die alle gebeurtenissen met dezelfde argeloze verbazing gadeslaan. De film geeft, met vaak hilarische beelden, een scherp inzicht in de volksaard van de Nederlanders, die met doorzichtige trucs publiek tot kopen proberen te verleiden, massaal vanuit de provincie naar Amsterdam trekken om een dagje 'homo's te kijken' en alle verbods- en fatsoensregels overtreden voor een goed plekje in de gracht bij een gratis concert.
