What is the point of spending taxpayer's money sending this clown over and over only to get the same shit, no change, sometimes an escalation, and then even more money from US citizens to purchase and transport weapons?

Trans Horror Authors
My January reading challenge is to read a book by a trans author. Luckily, there are many out there to choose from! Here are some who write in the horror genre, because that's my area of expertise. If you know of others, whether in horror or other genres, reply with your recommendations!
In no particular order...
Caitlin R. Kiernan
A genderfluid Irish-American paleontologist who also writes spectacular cosmic horror, what's not to love? They've been repping queerness since the 80s and have a robust library to choose from, so you're bound to find something you'll like!
Poppy Z. Brite
Billy Martin, whose work is published under the name Poppy Z. Brite, was a big name in the Gothic horror scene of the 1990s and continues to be a frequently-recommended author, although he doesn't publish as much horror these days.
Julya Oui
A Malaysian trans woman and prolific short story author. She has several collections out that you can browse, if short stories are your speed! Maybe start with Taiping Tales of Terror, which draws heavily on her native folklore and influences.
Rivers Solomon
A nonbinary, intersex Black author now living in the U.K., Solomon has three books out and they all look spectacular. Their books lean more toward sci-fi/fantasy, but their newest title Sorrowland looks to be pretty solidly Gothic as well.
Gretchen Felker-Martin
Trans woman, film critic, and unapologetically outspoken. Her best-known book is Manhunt, a post-apocalyptic horror tale that doesn't pull any punches. She's got another new release slated for 2024 to keep an eye on.
Hailey Piper
One of the most prolific authors I can name off the top of my head, Hailey also has several novellas out in the world + a few novels. If the intersection of queer fiction, body horror, and cosmic horror sounds like your thing, you can find something in her backlist. Also she's here on tumblr, go learn more at @haileypiperfights
Eve Harms
A bit of a new player on the field, but well worth checking out. Eve is a Jewish trans woman. Her debut novel, Transmuted, is a breathless body horror romp. She also makes a bunch of handmade zines, which I just think are neat :)
Natalie Ironside
One of Tumblr's very own better-known names, Natalie is queer, disabled, trans, hilarious, and author to at least three novels I can think of plus some other stuff too - go scope her out on @natalieironside for the details.
.....I know I'm missing a ton of people but these were the first ones that came to mind. I have to get back to writing, but I hope this inspires y'all to pick up a book you haven't read yet, and to add to my list down in the notes.
Happy reading, y'all :)

In light of the recent Teddy asks, I think baby #2 is an Irish twin, born barely 18 months after her older sister. Willow Rachel Berzatto welcomes herself into the world a week before Christmas, forever changing her dad’s association with Christmas.
omg a little christmas baby. you go into labor christmas eve, still wrapping gifts for teddy. carmen freaks, for a lot of reason, two babies so close together and it's happening on christmas- i feel like she'd be a week or two early.
they put her in a cute little red and green hospital hat, call her a christmas present and she really is. i feel like the middle name would be natalie or natalia or something for nat since she's been so present in your life and your daughter's life already. you surprise her when she brings teddy by, and food for you and carmen because "i can't let you eat shitty hospital food on christmas. that's a crime."
teddy really doesn't know much about the baby. just babbles "baba" over and over and over, jabbing a tiny, chubby finger at her that you have to tell her to be gentle about. carmen is just mesmerized by her, by his little family, by the calmness of it all. sitting in a birthing suite with his sister, richie and the staff stops by the following day with flowers and food, and it's just so calm. what was once pure insanity and chaos is now just calm.

I just found out about natalie mcnally, a northern irish woman who was murdered in december of 2022. her death has received more reporting than usual due to the fact that her murderer was her boyfriend, a youtuber with a moderately large following. what struck me about this tragedy is not that this is a lesson about the innate humanness of all of the youtubers we idolize, as the video essay I watched on the topic seemed to conclude, but rather that this is yet another demonstration of how common misogyny is.
she had only been dating her murderer for 4 months. in that short amount of time, she had become pregnant - 15 weeks at the time of her death. and this man, in just that short amount of time, felt so entitled to ownership over her that he demanded the password to her phone not long after they began dating, and murdered her because she had exchanged a few messages with her ex-boyfriend. this man felt so proud of his misogyny that he recorded a disgusting video of him playing grand theft auto and murdering women with a smirk on his face, then scheduled it to stream on youtube on the night he would murder her, naming it "the violent night" livestream with a "technical error" that he inserted of a film poster for "no time to die" which he scheduled to appear while he would be killing her. he spent so much time planning her murder down to the minute, and created a suspicious "livestream" to air a week in advance so that he would have an alibi during the time of the murder, but he couldn't resist dropping hints at his intentions. he even attended a rally in aid of natalie and violence against women to prey on people's sympathies.
natalie's murder was tragic, yes, and my heart goes out to her family, friends, and loved ones. but my heart also aches for all of the women who are in relationships with men like her murderer. even if they don't have murderous intentions, too many men feel comfortable - empowered, even - to exert total control over their girlfriends and wives, and our society does nothing about it until it's too late. we need to build a world where men don't have the power to abuse women, so that murders like this one can't happen. we owe it to natalie and all of the other victims of crimes like this.

Okay so I just really wanted to say this for a while and I decided that now was probably a good chance for me to say any of this.
I cannot put it into any other words other than,
Thank you.
And I mean every last bit of that. I've been on here for around a year or so and I genuinely don't think I'd have as much motivation to do all of these drawings in such little time.
This is 11 drawings we're talking here. All in one month. Some of these I stayed up for till dawn, some even made the same day as others! I don't know where this sudden burst of energy for the last few days came from and honestly, I feel like a part of it was because I knew somewhere in back of my mind; it would someone happy, possibly even make their day.
On this platform I've met and talked to so many cool people that I don't think I'll ever be half as cool as! And everyone I've talked to on here are so nice and sweet I can't help but grin like an idiot every time I see one of them had posted or said something.
And there's also so many people I've interacted with that are in completely different timezones from me and probably across the world. I've already said it once before, I'm in the Irish timezone so everytime someone I like had posted something that's late at night for me, I always wonder where they are in the world; or if I'll ever someday meet them and give them a hug.
Alright, alright. Enough pouring my little, squeezed heart out here. I'm not sure what I'll be working on next. But in the meantime,
Enjoy the rest of your time awake, wherever you are!

If your ocs were in the modern era, what would there favorite musicians be?
So im terrible at naming musicians and such, so ill go for genre and general taste!
Marius: "whatever's on the radio", and old French music his parents would listen to. He probably likes any music that gets him pumped and has a hard beat. Willing to listen to any genre and is terrible at describing what he likes! Doesn't have a spotify or itunes, just types the song into youtube and blasts that from his cracked phone. Loves a handful of French radio stations he streams on his phone; the quality is fucked and it drains his battery but he doesnt care.
Jack: Exclusively oldies bluegrass and gospel bc thats all his parents would play. Modern pop country and christian rock confounds him. He could swear his pa said something about drums being the devil's instrument. Metal is scary until he reads the lyrics and has a small mental shutdown. Just like him fr fr... thinks Marius' French stations are incomprehensible but he says nothing bc he doesnt have a better suggestion.
Lottie: A huuuge pop girlie, as well as jazz and 90s r&b. Yes jazz is a very broad genre, but she'd like so much of it, especially more unique or weird sounds. Doesnt "get" hyperpop or tiktok music and worries she's getting old bc of that. LOVES musicals and would likely be a professional in the modern times, and if not that, she'd be in local theaters.
Eveline: Still uses cassettes and CDs, and theyre all classical, opera recordings and vocalists, mostly European. Enjoys some musicals. She thinks she's kinda up to date on modern pop music, but when you ask her what's the last pop album she listened to, she'll say Celine Dion's Falling Into You. She'd start sobbing if she got to see Natalie Dessay.
Máire: Huge punk and rock girlie, especially the Irish scene. Probably exclusively listens to punk tbh. She'd frequent the clubs and smoke too much in the corner while appearing disinterested but is actually vibing so hard w the music. Really loves making mixtapes and recordings, never got into vinyls or cds. Wants spotify to burn and die.
Malwina: LOOOVES pop and is a massive Britney Spears, Selena, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson fan. 90s-2000s pop is her favorite by far and those are the only CDs she owns. Probs has a beatup little red Ipod she's had since middle school; it was a hand me down from her oldest cousin and she treasures it even if it's "old". Queen of pirating and burning music but by god she paid for her Mariah Carey and Britney Spears cds. She wanted the pretty inserts and lyric booklets.
Slyvester: Loves a lot of swing and oldies from his parent's day, and Italian vocalists his wife adores. They played Andrea Bocelli almost exclusively at the wedding. Finds the music his sons listen to bizarre but doesn't mind the rock and alt rock too much.

Are Ben and Gwen Catholic?
While the name originated in England, Tennyson is a common name in Ireland too. Ben and Gwen do look fairly Irish with the red/auburn hair and green eyes. Gwen also goes to a private school in UAF and Dwayne Mcduffie said that Frank and Natalie are more conservative than Carl and Sandra. It’s not uncommon for catholic/jewish couples to exist and Levin is a Jewish name. Do they have any religious trauma or catholic guilt? I could see them as the type of catholic who may go to mass occasionally but don’t really follow the more conservative doctrines. UAF Ben kind of reminds me of a priest with the shorter hair, darker clothes and popped collar. It’s surprising that no one in the fandom has created headcanons around this concept as it could create some fun ideas. I think they would end up leaving the church with Gwen becoming a pagan and Ben becoming agnostic after seeing the forge of creation. It is a fun concept to think of.
Edit: tradcaths, catholic conservatives don’t touch

In a interview of channel 12, Natalie, the older sister of Emily, a young Irish-Israeli child release by Hamas in a hostages exchange during the truce, shared her experience.
Sounds like she's learning some good manners from them 🙂
