Note
came up with this idea and now i can't get it out of my head lol so nat saves and adopts a teenage reader but when yelena finally meets the reader she hates her guts bc she feels like nat loves her more/has replaced her ( i imagine yelena in her 20s so not that much older than the reader) and like during a sparring session or something yelena takes it too far and like breaks the reader's arm so nat obviously blows up at her but then they eventually talk about their feelings and then yelena apologizes to the reader for acting so immature and cruel to them

Very nervous Y/N sits on the couch, moving her leg up and down as she waits for Yelena to arrive. She has never met the woman before, but Natasha has been waiting to introduce her two favourite people to each other, so, once Yelena found a free day to come over, they immediately made plans.
It doesn’t take long for Yelena’s car to park on the driveway. Natasha goes to open the door right away, while Y/N waits in the living room, taking some deep breaths to calm herself down.
She can hear the two talking, though she isn’t fully paying attention to it. Once they start walking towards her, she stands up with a smile on her face.
Natasha and Yelena stand before her, the latter looking confused. “Yelena, this is Y/N.” She gestures at the teen with a smile.
“Hi.”
There’s a silence. “She isn’t a baby?” Yelena whispers to Natasha, but due to their closeness Y/N can hear it clearly.
Now it’s Natasha’s turn to look confused. “Why would she be a baby?”
“I thought you adopted a baby.”
“I specifically told you I adopted a teenage girl.” An annoyance grows in Natasha, not wanting to have this kind of conversation in front of her daughter.
Yelena scoffs. “Well, you can’t blame me for not hearing that. You said you adopted someone, and then I lost focus because I started thinking what to buy to a baby.”
Natasha lets out a harsh breath, but she brings a smile to her face once she notices Y/N’s tense body language. “Well, she’s not a baby.” She whispers quickly before going to set her arm over Y/N’s shoulders, bringing her closer. “This is Y/N, she is 16 years old, and I adopted her.” A proud smile adorns her face as she looks down at her daughter.
“Hi.” She says again, bringing a slightly shaky hand forward. “It’s nice to meet you, Yelena.”
A tense silence follows. Yelena has a frown on her face, but it disappears quickly when she glances at Natasha. “Hey, you too.” Her voice doesn’t match the enthusiasm that Y/N has and the hand shake feels very forceful.
They move on quickly, going to sit down on the couch to talk. For the rest of the time they’re together, Yelena has a subtle glare fixed on Y/N, especially whenever Natasha touches her.
Her sister speaks so highly of this teenager, but Yelena doesn’t see what’s so great about her that she doesn’t have. They’re both grew up in a bad place, they both know how to fight, though Yelena would bet her whole fortune she’s better at it, and they were saved by Natasha. The biggest difference they have, is that Natasha has known Yelena so much longer. So, why does it seem like she care for the teenager more than her?
Once Yelena starts to leave, she is in a sour mood. It’s like the younger girl is flaunting Natasha’s love and care in front of her face.
“-sit us soon again?”
She lifts her head to look at Natasha. “Huh?”
Natasha lets out a laugh. “Will you come visit us soon again?”
“Right.” She sighs. “Maybe. I have a busy schedule.”
“Okay, we’ll see you at the compound some time then.” Natasha hugs Yelena. “Bye bye.”
“Bye, sestra.”
“Bye!” Y/N waves, half of her body hidden behind Natasha.
Yelena walks to her car, completely ignoring her.
The next time they meet up is at the Avengers Compound, and Yelena’s feelings have not changed. If anything, her hatred and jealousy have grown while having time to wallow in those feelings alone.
Natasha and Yelena are talking in the compound’s living room, while Y/N is sitting in silence, only following the conversation from the sidelines. She can feel Yelena’s dislike, but she is too afraid to comment on it.
“Hey, Nat?” Steve pops up from the hallway. “Could you help me out with a report now that you’re here?”
“Of course,” she stands up, “I’ll be back soon.”
The smile on Yelena’s face disappears when she notices the assurance was given to Y/N instead of herself. The jealousy bubbles to the surface once again.
“Y/N.”
Her wide eyes snap to Yelena. This is the first time she has been talked to by Yelena since they first met. “Yeah?” There’s a sliver of nervousness in her voice. A sliver, that Yelena can hear.
“Do you want to train together to pass the time?”
“Uhm,” she doesn’t, “I guess so.”
“Great!” The grin on Yelena’s face is unmistakable. “Follow me,” they start walking towards the training room, “the compound has the best supplies to train anything and everything you want.”
Once they get into the training room, Yelena leads Y/N straight to the mat placed on the middle of the room. Y/N feels the mat under her feet, it’s soft enough to make landings bearable, but it won’t take the pain completely away.
“You were trained in hand to hand combat when you were at HYDRA, yes?”
Y/N’s face screws up at the mention of the organization she was saved from. “Yes.”
Yelena gets into position, her hands raised and feet apart. “Good, then this won’t be a problem for you.” Before Y/N has time to prepare herself, Yelena is already lunging at her.
With a blink of an eye, she is on the ground. Y/N groans, looking up at Yelena with a frown.
“Come on!” Yelena claps her hands together. “Up, up, you gotta be ready.”
Y/N takes a breath and stands up, this time getting into position before Yelena can fully surprise her.
They start sparring.
It’s more like fighting, at least on Yelena’s side.
Y/N is good at fighting, but Yelena is better. She is older, she is bigger, and she was in the Red Room for a long time.
She gets slammed to the mat two more times before she starts panting, her hands on her knees. “I think I’m done.” Her voice comes out as a mumble.
“Come on! Don’t be a party pooper.” Yelena circles around her. “One more round, this time like you mean it.”
Y/N doesn’t have time to disagree. She desperately fight back against Yelena’s onslaught of hits and kicks.
After five minutes, she gets dropped to the ground, again.
She lays there on the ground, her breathing heavy and laboured. But Yelena doesn’t seem to be finished. There’s a certain fire in her eyes as she brings her foot up. Fear runs through Y/N’s body as her wide eyes are stuck on the bottom of Yelena’s boot.
A loud crack echoes through the training room.
Y/N cries out, rolling to her side to hold her now broken arm against her chest. Yelena’s eyes widen, shocked by what she did, though the feeling goes away just as quick.
Unfortunately for her, an immense feeling of guilt fills her body when a loud “Yelena!” comes from the door. Natasha comes running in, instantly kneeling to Y/N’s side. “What the hell was going on in your head?” She practically growls out while lifting up her daughter, shushing her in a comforting manner when she lets out a cry of pain.
Yelena opens her mouth to speak, though she doesn’t know what she could even say, but a harsh glare from Natasha shuts her up. She stays in the training room while Natasha and Y/N leave to the medical room.
After three excruciatingly long hours of pacing in her room, a knock on the door finally breaks the silence. Yelena opens the door, instantly stepping to the side to let Natasha walk inside.
“What were you thinking?” Natasha’s arms are crossed over her chest as she stares at her sister with an icy glare. “She’ll be okay, thank god for that, but she has a broken arm, Yelena.”
“I’m sorry.” She whispers.
Natasha shakes her head. “Sorry isn’t going to cut it now. You’ve been incredibly cold to her, and I chalked it up to nerves, but this,” her brows are raised as she gestures around, “this is unacceptable. She’s my daughter, Yelena. I can’t have you around her if you’re going to hurt her.”
“I won’t!” Her eyes are turning misty from tears and her voice wavers. “I- I don’t know what came over me. I was feeling…jealous…and, and insecure.”
“Why?”
Yelena tugs at the skin on her fingers, at times pressing her nails against her palm as her eyes drop to the ground. “I was scared you’d love me less.” A few tears fall down her cheeks at the confession.
A deep sigh leaves Natasha’s mouth. She rubs the space between her brows. “I love you, Yelena, I would never love you less. But I also have so much love for Y/N, she is my daughter.” There’s no anger in her tone anymore, but there’s a certain steadiness to make sure Yelena fully hears her. “I love both of you so, so much.”
Yelena nods. “I’m sorry.”
“You need to apologize to her.” Natasha mumbles, combing her fingers through her hair. “I’m really upset right now, so I’m going to leave.”
“I’ll make it up, okay?”
Natasha opens the door. “Make it up by treating my daughter well, be genuinely nice to her. You hear me? She is my daughter, that means she is your family too.”
“She’s my niece.” Yelena whispers with a nod, fully absorbing the words. She hurt her niece.
After Natasha leaves and Yelena has a minute to gather herself, she makes her way to the infirmary.
She knocks on the door gently, opening it after she hears a quiet come in. Yelena steps inside. “Hey.”
Y/N lifts her head. “Hi.” She scratches the cast on her arm, her eyes anywhere else but Yelena.
Clearing her throat, she takes a few careful steps inside, stopping beside the hospital bed. “I’m sorry. I’m really sorry, truly.” She whispers, her eyes on Y/N. “I was an asshole, an insecure and jealous asshole, who was scared that her sister would love me less because she got a daughter.” She lets out a butter laugh. “Which was very stupid of me, because I know Natasha isn’t like that.”
“She’s pretty great.” Y/N whispers.
“She is.” Yelena sits on the chair next to the bed. “She is my sister and you are her daughter, which makes you my niece. And…I’ve always wanted a niece, even though it might not be obvious from the way I’ve acted. I want to be what Natasha was to me for someone, except a little more fun, you know? I’d let you break the rules and drink a little bit and I’d teach you how to run away from the cops.”
Y/N giggles softly, glancing at Yelena every so often, but never looking at her for too long.
“Could we start over, maybe? I could be the aunt that you deserve.” There’s a silence as Y/N stares at the cast while biting the inside of her cheek. “You don’t have to be scared of me.” Yelena whispers. “Which I know is a stupid thing to say after I-“ she glances at the cast, “after I broke your arm.”
“Yeah.” She lets out a shaky breath. “I’m a little scared of you, but I’d like to have an aunt.” Y/N raises her head, giving Yelena a small smile.
Yelena smiles back, wider than ever. She inches closer to the edge of the seat, gently setting her hand on Y/N’s healthy hand. “I will make it up to you, I promise. I’ll spoil you so much.” She grins, already excited with the idea of buying things to her niece.
“Okay.” She laughs, already feeling better despite her broken arm.

Wasn't she sixteen...?

masterlist
summary: when you are on a mission with your uncle Steve, you accidentally become part of a large, secret Hydra experiment, and suddenly, you return to the compound as a toddler…
pairing: Winterwidow x adopted daughter teen/toddler reader
warnings: none I think
genre: fluff
words: 3333
a/n: I remember reading something with the reader turning into a toddler a long time ago, and the idea always stuck with me. I figured it would be really cute to do it with an adopted reader, because it means that Natasha and Bucky have never taken care of a toddler
You do not have my permission to repost, copy or translate my work
 |——————————— ⴵ ———————————|
A simple mission. That is what Fury said. A simple data collection. In and out.
“Simple,” Steve scoffed as her carried a sleeping 2 year old in his arms. As it turns out, the mission was not as simple as Fury had initially stated. The Hydra base was in fact, not empty, and you, were in fact, not ready.
Fury had assured Natasha and Bucky you would be fine. You had been with the Avengers since you were 11. You had been fighting your entire life before that, and now you were with the Avengers and all you wanted was to follow in the footsteps of your adoptive parents.
Natasha and Bucky couldn’t be more proud, yet they also couldn’t be more worried.
You had never been on a mission before. Natasha and Bucky deemed them to dangerous, and you were only 16. They didn’t want you on missions until you were at least a legal adult.
You were upset of course when they told you, but it didn’t take you long before you understood. Missions were dangerous, and despite your upbringing, you were simply not ready yet.
However, when Fury came to Natasha and Bucky with a file, which contained an easy mission, they decided you were allowed to go.
It would be a quick in and out mission. There wouldn’t be any danger and your uncle Steve would be with you. Everything would be fine, except it wasn’t.
The mission appeared to be more complicated than Fury had originally thought, and the Hydra base seemed to be anything but abandoned. The scouts Fury had sent out prior to the mission had been deceived. It was a trap, for you.
You had Steve had gone inside the base, finding the control room and copying the data.
However, when you were copying the data Steve heard strange noises coming from the hallway. He told you to stay put and finish the data transfer while he went to check.
You did as he said, continuing to transfer all the data from the computer.
However, once the screen displayed 100 percent, all electricity in the room fell away. The door fell shut, and a red light was all that lit up the room.
You pulled the usb out of the computer in a haste, trying to see if you could get the door open. You were unsuccessful, and despite your training, you were starting to panic. You could hear grunts and blows landing not far from your location and so you figured Steve was fighting off multiple Hydra agents.
After you unsuccessfully tried to open the door, you took a step back, taking a deep breath and emptying your mind. You tried to remember what you father told you.
“Don’t dwell on situations gone wrong. Accept the unexpected. Don’t stand around whining. Try to find another way.”
You could hear your father’s voice in your head, repeating the things he had taught you. Don’t dwell on the situation, you repeated in your head as you turned around, scanning the room to try and find something else that could help you.
It didn’t take long before you spotted the end of a vent in the ceiling, and after pushing the large computer from the desk, you moved it over to the wall.
You climbed to stand on top of the desk as you inspected the vent, figuring you could fit through if you managed to get it open.
The metal was screwed into the wall rather tightly, and the vent wouldn’t budge as you tried your best to pull it open. While focusing on the vent, you failed to notice Steve trying to talk to you through the door.
Once you heard him yell your name, you turned around, jumping off the desk and making your way to the door.
“It’s a trap! They’re gonna do something to you!” you heard Steve yell as he tried to get the door open. He too failed to open the door, despite his super soldier serum.
You ran back to the desk, climbing on it once more and trying to open the vent with much more force than before. This was supposed to be an easy mission. You wanted to make your parents proud. You’ll be damned if you get trapped back with Hydra because of it.
However, after you tried your absolute best to get the vent open, you still failed, and the red lights in the room started to flicker as an alarm could be heard.
Smoke started to fill the room and you tried to hold your breath for as long as you could.
It didn’t take long before you had to breath again, and as soon as you did you felt the smoke work its was inside, infecting your brain and your senses. You lost your balance and fell off the desk, unable to break your fall as the smoke fogged up your brain, confusion taking over.
You tried to stand. To get to the door. To get to uncle Steve, but it was worthless.
You laid on the floor until you lost consciousness.
After the smoke had taken effect on you, the alarm stopped. The smoke disappeared from the room and the red light returned to normal. The door sprung open and Steve rushed inside.
However, what he found was not exactly what he was expecting.
There you were, sitting on the ground with a pile of suit around you. You were no longer sixteen, you were a toddler. You looked to be around two, and because only your body had shrunken, the suit you were once wearing was way to big, and so it piled up around you.
Once you saw your uncle Steve your recognised him immediately, even in this from, and you giggled and smiled as you reached your little arms up.
Steve picked you up quickly, rushing back to the Quinjet and discarding of your suit, wrapping you in a warm blanket instead. You had a few cuts and bruises on your little body but they didn’t seem to bother you in the slightest as you giggled and laughed while playing with Steve’s beard.
He sighed as set the coordinates for the Quinjet back to the Avengers tower, contemplating on how the hell he was going to explain this to Natasha and Bucky.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Once Bucky and Natasha heard that the Quinjet was landing, they rushed to meet you, wanting to hold you in their arms and assure themselves you were safe.
However, when Steve walked off the Quinjet, a confused and guilty look on his face while carrying a little child, they could only think the worse. Natasha and Bucky rushed over to Steve, asking what had happened to their child. They needed to know you were safe.
Steve chuckled dryly as he held your tiny form up, and the moment you saw Natasha and Bucky you started smiling, reaching for Natasha, wanting your mama to hold you.
Natasha took you from Steve confused, before she took a good look at the toddlers face and realised that it was indeed, you.
“Y/n?!” Natasha exclaimed confused.
“Mommy!” you giggled happily as you buried your face into her shoulder, exhausted from the journey.
“Wasn’t she sixteen when we sent her with you…?” Bucky asked confused, a dangerous tone hidden underneath his playful one.
“Well, you see, she got hit with some kind of strange gas and now… well… she turned into a toddler…” Steve explained, scratching the back of his head while avoiding to make eye contact.
“What…?” Natasha asked even more confused, rubbing your back gently as you fussed before you settled down again.
“I don’t know what happened. The Hydra base we were at was not abandoned, but they didn’t try to hurt us. I left her alone for just a minute while I went to fight other Hydra agents off, and when I came back, well…” he finished, motioning to your sleeping form.
“I’m really sorry…” Steve added apologetically as he looked down.
Bucky took a deep breath before laying his hand on his best friend’s shoulder.
“We’ll go and see Bruce. Hopefully he can help us reverse it,” Bucky stated. Steve looked up at him confused, before he noticed Natasha’s massive smile while she interacted with your younger self. Maybe this wasn’t all bad.
-------------------------------------------------------------
After speaking with Bruce and Tony, Natasha and Bucky found out that your little form was reversible, but that it would simply take time. They stated that eventually the effects of the gas would wear off, and then you’d be back to your normal, teenager form again.
Natasha and Bucky thanked them as they made their way to the living room, you still happily in Natasha’s arms.
Bucky had already started planning an entire mental list of all the things they would have to get for you. I mean, you were two years old and the only thing that adorned your little body was the fuzzy blanket from the Quinjet.
There weren’t any clothes for you. There wasn’t anything in the Avengers tower for a two year old.
On top of that, Natasha and Bucky had never taken care of a toddler before. You were eleven when the Avengers saved you, and you were eleven when you were adopted by Natasha and Bucky. They didn’t know the first thing about taking care of a young child.
While Bucky rummaged in the kitchen, trying to find something appropriate for you to eat, Natasha sat on the couch with you in her lap, playing peek a boo while you giggled and tried to copy her movements.
Bucky eventually settled on grabbing you an apple, coming back from the kitchen and handing it to you.
Natasha gave him an unimpressed look when you took the apple from Bucky’s hand, studying it for a second before holding it back up to Bucky. Bucky looked confused, sending Natasha a glance for help.
“She’s two, James,” Natasha simply stated as Bucky hesitantly took the apple back.
“Daddy cut,” you stated as you pointed at the apple, and Bucky immediately realised how stupid he had been.
He went back into the kitchen, hearing you giggle as Natasha stated, ‘stupid daddy,’ in a playful tone. Once he returned with the apple, cut this time, he sat beside Natasha, holding the little bowl while you reached for a piece.
You happily munched on your apple slice while you laid down on Natasha’s chest.
Perhaps they should lay you down for a nap soon.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Clint had heard about what had happened to you. He had immediately started digging around in the old clothes from Lila and Nathaniel. The clothes they had kept from Lila were all baby clothes, and so he settled on just grabbing some of Nathaniel’s clothes.
He arrived at the compound quickly, finding you still sitting on the couch, finishing your last apple slice.
Natasha held you close as she softly rocked you back and forth, a happy and content smile on her face. She loved you more than anything in the world. She loved your shopping trips, your determination when you insisted on certain songs during car rides. Your ability to make Bucky say yes to whatever you asked. But she could not deny how much she had longed to hold you in your younger years.
Holding you, in your two year old form, was everything she had ever wanted.
You were so small. So fragile. So young. Natasha was more than grateful that she gets to experience you being so small as well.
Clint smiled at the sight, walking into the living area and sitting on a chair close to Natasha and Bucky.
“She’s adorable,” he stated as he got a good look at you.
Your little head perked up at the sound of his voice. “Uhncle Clint!” You stated happily, tripping over your words as they came out as a mushed up mess.
“Hello there tiny,” Clint responded as he smiled at you.
“I got you some of Nathaniel’s old clothes. I couldn’t find anything from Lila’s but I figured this will do for now,” Clint explained to Natasha and Bucky as he handed Bucky the clothes.
You little arm immediately reached towards the pile of clothes, sitting up straight in Natasha’s lap as you pulled the clothing items out of the perfect pile, wanting to see all of them. Eventually, you reached for a shirt with little planets on it. You held it up to Natasha.
“On mama,” you stated firmly, to which Natasha laughed while she helped you into the shirt.
Eventually, you were happily dressed in a miss matching set of pajamas, leaning into Natasha again as your eyes started to fall close.
“I think it’s time for a nap,” Natasha stated as she stood up, holding you tightly to her chest as she made her way towards hers and Bucky’s bedroom. Bucky followed her as they went into the bedroom, Natasha laying you on the bed.
“Do two year olds wear diapers…?” Bucky asked, deep in thought while he contemplated putting a diaper on you or not.
Natasha let out a huff of amusement before handing a diaper to Bucky.
“Yes they do,” she stated as she sat down on the bed, making sure you kept laying down as Bucky gave her a confused look.
“Well go on dad, put a diaper on your kid,” Natasha stated playfully, listening to your giggles as Bucky’s face heated up.
“I don’t know how…” Bucky stated, a little embarrassed.
“Come on super soldier, I’ll talk you through it. It’s not that hard,” Natasha explained as she motioned for Bucky to get to work.
-------------------------------------------------------------
After Bucky’s diaper adventure you were asleep pretty quickly, all the excitement from the day catching up to you as you slept peacefully on the big bed. Natasha had laid pillows all around you, building some kind of wall to ensure you wouldn’t roll out of the bed while you slept.
After you were down and content, Natasha had offered to go to the mall to pick out a few necessities for you. Bucky had reluctantly agreed, even though he was terrified to take care of you. You were only a little baby, and he was terrified to hurt you.
Natasha had assured him that he would do great, and Clint had offered to stay nearby incase Bucky would need anything.
And so, Natasha happily went to the mall, shopping in all the baby stores as she put way to many objects in her basket. She had never had such an experience before. Sure, she occasionally picked up a thing or two for Clint’s kids, but getting to pick out stuff for her own little girl felt entirely different.
She had already received a dozen texts while she was gone, all from Bucky as he slightly panicked with every sound or movement you made.
Natasha chuckled to herself as she read through the texts, assuring Bucky you were fine and that you were just sleeping like any normal toddler would.
“Are you looking for anything specific?”
The question pulled Natasha away from her phone, turning to look at the woman beside her. She had a kind smile on her face as she scanned the objects in Natasha’s basket.
“Oh, uhm, I’m not sure,” Natasha stated, giving the woman a smile back.
“Your first child?” the woman asked, and Natasha nodded with a bright smile on her face.
“It was unexpected, to say the least,” she chuckled at her own joke, watching the woman’s face as she smiled kindly.
“How old is she?” the woman asked, judging by the basket contents that you were a girl.
“Two,” Natasha stated as she picked up another set of pajamas, the pattern a collection of different cartoon drawings of your favourite animal.
“It’s a great age. I loved it when my kids were that age,” the woman told Natasha.
“Children that age often want comfort items. Does she have anything like a stuffed animal, or maybe a special blanket?” the woman suggested, and Natasha thought for a moment before shaking her head.
“No, I suppose she doesn’t. I should probably pick one up for her,” she stated as she gave the woman another smile, moving to walk over to the stuffed animal section.
The woman trailed behind her and guided her towards a collection of adorable bears, all dressed in various pajama sets that were sold around the store.
“You could get one with the same pajamas as your daughter,” the woman explained excitedly, picking up a bear dressed in the same pajamas that Natasha had picked out earlier.
Natasha took the bear, thanking the woman before making her way to check out.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Once Natasha arrived back at the Avengers tower the first thing she noticed was how the common area was a chaos. Clint and Wanda were looking around while Bucky just paced around panicking.
Natasha walked over to Bucky, a determination to calm her boyfriend down before he would have a mental breakdown.
“Y/n’s gone,” Bucky stated as he say Natasha come into view.
Clint immediately turned around upon hearing Bucky’s words, letting out a chuckle and walking over to Natasha as well.
“For the record, y/n is not gone, she is simply playing hide and seek,” Clint started, looking around. “And she’s damn good at it…”
Natasha laughed as she set her bags on the couch.
“Y/n? Sweetie, it’s mommy. I have some things for you,” Natasha stated in a sing songy voice, her ears immediately perking up when she heard your excited giggles coming from her right.
There you were, running as fast as your little legs could take you, straight for Natasha’s lap.
You jumped up on the couch, climbing onto Natasha as you hugged her tightly.
“Mommy!” you exclaimed happily, giggling as Natasha attacked your face with kisses.
“Was my little princess hiding from daddy?” Natasha asked as you nodded, still giggling as you pointed over to Bucky.
“Daddy not finding me!” you exclaimed, stretching out to give Natasha a kiss on her cheek.
Bucky sighed with relief as he moved to sit down beside you two, his large hand stroking your back, it almost being as big as your entire back. You giggled and pushed yourself away from Natasha, using her shoulders to push yourself up so you could give Bucky a kiss as well.
“I best at hid and seeking,” you stated proudly, and Bucky chuckled as he nodded, giving you a kiss on your forehead.
“Look what I have for you my little malyshka,” Natasha said as she reached into the bag, pulling the stuffed animal from the bag and handing it over to you.
You smiled brightly, immediately hugging the bear tightly to your chest when you got it into your hands.
“Matching pajamas…” Bucky stated with amusement as he pulled the pajama set from the bag, holding it up for you and Natasha to see.
You gasped in excitement as reached over to it.
“On mommy, on,” you stated as you managed to get the pajamas in your hands.
Natasha chuckled and helped you out of Nathaniel’s old clothes, ripping open the packaging of the new pajamas and helping you put them on.
“I look like bear!” you exclaimed happily as you looked at yourself, holding up your bear for Natasha and Bucky to see.
“Yes you do doll,” Bucky stated as he pulled you into his lap, showering your face with kisses.
Both Natasha and Bucky would never say it out loud, but they hoped you would stay a two year old for a little while longer, loving the new domestic feeling it gave them to raise a little kid. Of course, they loved you and they would be more than happy when you were to turn back into your teenage self, but they couldn’t deny the fact that they wanted to enjoy holding your little form for as long as possible.

lazy mornings
[ 504 words ]
[ natasha romanoff x teen!widow!reader ]
you're settling in well at the tower, and have been using that comfort to catch up on some late morning wake-ups.
notes:
i live! back with a short fluffy drabble as apology for disappearing. i'm trying to get back into it so please send me prompts 🤞
Tumblr media
You felt incredibly childish in the moment, but Natasha said you deserved to be a little childish in your new life, so you supposed it was okay.
Even if childish meant crawling bleary eyed out of bed at nearly 10am with a stuffed bear gifted to you by Natasha under your arm.
Nothing about the Red Room could be considered lazy, lazy got you killed. But in the tower, most Saturday's were spent sleeping in or hanging out around the tower. It was a shock at first, seeing Earth's Mightiest Heroes in their pajamas at noon watching cartoons.
(Bucky had been the biggest shock, and it had been very hard to not laugh at the sight of his pink bunny slippers.)
It was an adjustment for sure, going from the rigorous routine of the Red Room to chaotic life in the tower. Natasha had been your rock in that time, waking consistently and giving you a familiar, albeit far more casual, routine.
Now you've been living with the Avengers for nearly a year, and you were well settled in your new life, happy to indulge in simple comforts like a late morning.
And it was often those late mornings were spent catching an extra hour or two of sleep in Natasha's room.
Natasha has been your rock since the beginning when she freed you. She gave you a home, stability, and love that you'd missed out on your whole life. As time went on, Natasha became more like your mother, which she made official when she adopted you a few months ago.
You had her to thank for where you were today, and you loved her for it.
Which brought you to now, sluggishly knocking on her door and hearing her beckon you in.
In another life you'd hate to be so predictable, but in this one your heart warms at the sight of Natasha, sitting up and moving the blankets to have you slide in next to her.
She huffs a laugh at the way you immediately curl up against her side, bear tucked under your arm across her waist. "How'd you sleep, детка?"
You mumble in response and shut your eyes, content to cuddle up to your mom while sleep clings to you. You feel her arm slide against your back and the TV's volume turn down a few notches.
"You and Wanda stayed up late again, huh?" You feel your face heat when you press further against her, causing her to laugh softly.
Natasha settles while she holds you tightly to her side, and you let yourself fully relax in her hold, knowing you're safe with her.
"Go back to sleep, малышка, I'll wake you up later and we'll go to that cafe on 3rd for breakfast. Sound good?"
You nod as you feel yourself drifting off, lulled to sleep by the smell of coffee and the feeling of Natasha's fingers drifting through your hair. For a moment you wonder, and not for the first time, how you got so lucky.

Natasha: *getting ready for a run*
Y/N: Mom? Why would you ever want to run 26 miles?
Natasha: The same reason you stay on the couch for the entire month of July.
Y/N: Oh, I get it…
Y/N: A sense of accomplishment.

Summary: Natasha adopted you from the Red Room when you were only a baby, but when she and Bucky had their own child, she started forgetting about you.
Part 2
"I hate you!" You shouted, slamming the door behind you
"Y/N, we're not done!" Natasha, your mother, shouted from downstairs "Get back here!"
This was a daily occurrence by now.
The, once nonexistent, daily arguments between you and Natasha only got worse over the years.
Although Natasha isn't your biological mother, she raised you like her own after she saved you from the Red Room.
You were only 2 months old when she adopted you and everything went well. You both formed a happy little family for a while.
That was until Natasha started dating Bucky a little after your 10th birthday and she slowly started spending less and less time with you.
But not Bucky was the factor that determined your mother-daughter relationship with Natasha to drift apart.
The main reason behind everything was your 5-year-old baby sister, Tanya, who came into the world a few months after Natasha and Bucky started dating, with a little bit of help from Tony and his technology that, nowadays, seems to defy all odds.
Tanya's arrival only strengthened the bond between her parents, who had a romantic history that started years before even you were born, and, at the same time, weakened the bond between you and Natasha.
You knew the drill by now.
'Tanya is perfect.'
'Tanya is ours.'
'Tanya is innocent.'
Their voices echoed in your brain like a broken record.
Tanya knows that she can get away with everything and Tanya does get away with everything.
Since her birth, it was as if Natasha had completely forgotten about your existence.
It began by ignoring you while she focused her attention solely on Tanya.
She wouldn't feed you anymore, wake you up for school, or cuddle you at night.
She didn't even notice that you changed.
But, how could she, when Tanya was everything she noticed?
You stared at yourself in the mirror.
Determination was etched on your pale face as you picked up the blade that was on your sink.
It became a relief for you.
Sliding that blade on your wrist helped you forget about the unbearable pain in your chest.
The crimson blood that was pooling from the cuts held your attention. The pain of being abandoned by two different mothers was momentarily shoved at the back of your mind.
You started harming yourself 2 years ago when you couldn't take Natasha's ignorance any more.
You haven't told anyone and it's not like they would care if they knew anyways. Tanya was the center of their world, not you.
She was the perfect baby, while you were the adopted bastard and a grand mistake that Natasha made.
Natasha never admitted it out loud but you understood the message from the way she was treating you.
The blade fell down from your hand into the sink.
'Is it all because she never gave birth to me?'
And you stared at the trail of blood it left on the white sink.
'Are adopted kids not important, just because they're not blood related?'
You slowly understood.
'Will I ever be treated the same as Tanya?'
The only one left to understand was Natasha.
"Y/N, do you want to play with my dolls later?" Tanya asked you a few hours later, during dinner
You pulled at the sleeves of your hoodie even more, hiding your hands inside of them.
"Sure, Tatu." You gave the small child a shy smile "I think I'd like that."
"Tatiana." Natasha sternly looked at Tanya but the tone of her voice was soft "Remember we have a movie night tonight. You can play with Y/N another time."
"Can Y/N come too?" Tanya's big, innocent eyes sparkled while she asked, as Natasha refilled the girl's glass of orange juice
"I think she has more important things to do." Natasha replied, not even bothering to ask what you want "We're going to have a mother-daughter night. It's going to be just us two, sweetheart. Wouldn't it be fun?"
"Yay!" Tanya cheered, throwing her arms in the air
But as she did, she accidentally knocked over the glass filled with juice.
"Oh oh..." Tanya said, looking at the spilled juice "Sorry, Mama."
"Don't worry, baby girl." Natasha smiled, sitting up to clean the mess "Accidents happen."
"That's not what you said the last time when I accidentally knocked over my glass of water." You bitterly spat out at Natasha
"You have no right to talk, Y/N." Natasha snapped at you "Shut up!"
"Natalia, honey, calm down." Bucky, who was sitting beside Natasha, put his hand on her arm "She didn't do anything wrong. She's just a kid."
"She's not a kid, James." Natasha shouted, turning her head in Bucky's direction "She's a grown-up teenager now."
"Talia, I think you are just overreacting right now." Bucky kept trying to calm his wife, sparing a glance in your direction
He looked down at your plate that was untouched, the effect of your lack of appetite obvious on your skinny and fragile frame.
"I think I'm full." You quickly sat up from the table
"Sit back down, right in this instance, Y/N." Natasha shouted at you "You don't disrespect your mother like that and get away with it."
"Well, lately, you didn't act like a mother at all." You shouted back at Natasha, pain evident in your voice, but Natasha was oblivious to it "All you care about is Tanya."
"Because she's my child!" Natasha screamed offended "It's only normal to care for her."
"I used to be your child as well!" You shouted, tears forming in your eyes "I still am your child."
"You're not mine!" Natasha shouted and you widened your eyes shocked "You're not anything to me! You aren't my child because you don't have my blood. I didn't carry you or feel you grow day by day inside of me. But with Tanya, I did. You are just a mistake, Y/N!"
"You are the mistake here, Mom!" You cried, slightly lifting your sleeves as Bucky's eyebrows shot in his hairline "Look!" You showed your scarred wrists to the woman "This is all because of you! Why can't you love me like any mother should do? Blood shouldn't be important! You raised me, Natasha."
Bucky reached his metal arm slowly towards your extended arms to inspect your wrists but he was pushed aside by Natasha, who blocked out the fact that you were hurting because of her and ignored the truth, her intrusive thoughts winning as she said something she would never be able to take back.
"You were never truly a part of this family, Y/N!" Natasha shouted "Get that in your head. You are not our blood and you will never be. I saved you because I thought that you would change but I see that you didn't. You are the same. But I did change. I am not the same Natasha that I was in the Red Room. I am better."
Shaking your head, you took a few steps backward.
"I can't believe you." You whispered in disbelief
"Y/N..." Bucky breathed out, sitting up from his chair "Don't listen to your mother, she's just tired. She didn't mean what she said."
"She knew damn well what she was saying." You kept shaking your head, a lone tear falling down your cheek
"Then get that in your head once and for all." Natasha shouted once more, stubbornly fixated on her wrong belief that she was right
"I hate you!" You shouted at Natasha "I wish you never rescued me from the Red Room!"
And with that, you stormed out of the house and ran into the veil of darkness provided by the night.
Bucky tried to run after you but it was too late.
He found no sight of you or any clue where you might have run away to.
Bucky walked inside the house and looked at Natasha who was still oblivious to the damage she had done and muttered one question.
"What have you done?!"

Spider-Girl gets heatstroke ft Wanda Maximoff and Natasha Romanoff
The sun bore down mercilessly on the city, amplifying the already stifling heat. Y/N Parker, also known as Spider-Girl, swung through the crowded urban landscape, her agile form navigating effortlessly between towering buildings. The snug superhero suit clung to her like a second skin, offering little reprieve from the oppressive warmth.
Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, and Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, followed closely behind. The three made an unlikely but formidable team, each contributing their unique skills to the cause. Today's mission had brought them into the heart of the city, where the scorching heat seemed to amplify with every passing minute.
As they reached the rooftop where their target was supposed to be, Y/N's movements started to slow. The heat had become an almost tangible force, sapping her strength and leaving her feeling sluggish. Wanda exchanged a concerned look with Natasha, both recognizing the toll the weather was taking on their youngest teammate. Natasha was the first to say something about it over the comms.
Natasha - Kiddo, we need to take a break. It's too hot up here.
Y/N hesitated, her hand gripping the edge of the building for support.
Y/N - I'm fine!
Insisted the adolescent as her voice strained.
Wanda moved closer, placing a hand on Y/N's shoulder.
Wanda - You need to take care of yourself. This heat is dangerous. *frowns*
But Y/N, ever the stubborn teenager, shook her head.
Y/N - I can handle it. Let's finish this.
Natasha sighed, sharing a worried glance with Wanda. They pressed on, but it wasn't long before Y/N's movements became more laboured. Sweat dripped down her forehead, and her breaths were audible over the comms.
Wanda - We need to get her out of here.
The Scarlet Witch urged, her concern deepening.
Natasha grabbed Y/N's arm.
Natasha - Come on, baby. We're calling it a day.
Y/N resisted.
Y/N - No, I can't let them—
Wanda cut in, her voice firm.
Wanda - Your health is more important. The mission can wait.
Reluctantly, Y/N allowed herself to be guided away from the edge of the building. The trio found a shaded spot, but Y/N was insistent on finishing the mission even if she was already swaying slightly.
Y/N - I just need a moment...
Natasha - You need more than a moment. You need water and rest. *crosses her arms*
Y/N's stubbornness flared, and she pushed herself up.
Y/N - I can't let them get away. I can—
Her words were slurred, and her vision blurred. The next thing she knew, she was on her knees, the world spinning around her. Wanda and Natasha exchanged alarmed glances.
Wanda - Y/N!
Wanda cried out, rushing to her side.
Natasha activated her comm.
Natasha - We need an evac. Now.
Y/N tried to push herself up, but her limbs felt like lead. The last thing she heard before darkness claimed her was Wanda's worried voice calling her name.
______________________________________________________________
When Y/N opened her eyes, the world was a blur of white. She blinked, trying to make sense of her surroundings. The low hum of the quinjet's engines filled the air. She was lying on one of the benches, and her suit had been partially removed.
Y/N - Wanda? Natasha?
She croaked.
The two women appeared at her side, relief was evident in their eyes.
Natasha - You fainted detka, heatstroke.
Explained the Black Widow, her voice a mix of sternness and concern.
Y/N groaned, remembering the mission.
Y/N - Did we catch them?
Wanda smiled gently, brushing a strand of hair from Y/N's face.
Wanda - Yes, we did. But you scared us. You need to take better care of yourself, honey.
Y/N mumbled an apology, attempting to sit up. Natasha pressed her back down as she spoke firmly about their order.
Natasha - Rest, we'll be back at headquarters soon.
Wanda held a bottle of water to Y/N's lips, urging her to drink. The cool liquid was a balm for her parched throat. As Y/N sipped the water, Natasha began removing the rest of her suit to help her cool down.
Y/N - I can do that myself.
Protested the youngest weakly.
Wanda - You're in no condition to argue, my dear. *chuckles*
They worked efficiently, and the atmosphere was a mix of professionalism and genuine concern. Y/N couldn't help but feel grateful for the two women who had become her teammates and, in many ways, her surrogate family and mothers, in their own way.
Once out of the stifling suit, Y/N felt a wave of relief. The cool air of the quinjet was a welcome contrast to the oppressive heat outside. Wanda conjured a soft breeze, further easing Y/N's discomfort.
Natasha - You scared us back there, sweetheart.
Natasha admitted, her eyes intense.
Y/N - I'm sorry. I just wanted to finish the mission. *sighs*
Wanda placed a hand on Y/N's shoulder.
Wanda - There will always be another mission. But you only have one health and body for us to kiss, hug and give tickles. Don't jeopardize it for the sake of a mission. *tickles Y/N*
Y/N - Stopp- *giggling*
Natasha - Let her rest Wanda. It's okay lovebug *kisses forehead*
They lapsed into a comfortable silence, the hum of the quinjet providing a backdrop to their thoughts. Y/N closed her eyes, allowing herself to rest, knowing that she was in capable hands.
As the quinjet touched down at headquarters, Natasha and Wanda helped Y/N to her feet. She felt a little unsteady, but the support from her motherly teammates kept her upright.
Natasha - Promise us you'll take better care of yourself, babygirl.
Natasha said with her tone meaning business.
Y/N nodded, a genuine smile playing on her lips.
Y/N -  I promise, moms.
Wanda grinned, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Wanda - And if you don't, we might have to resort to more drastic measures.
Y/N - Like what? *raises an eyebrow*
Wanda and Natasha exchanged a knowing look before simultaneously saying: Mama bear's voice, the head-tilt and the raised eyebrow.
Y/N burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the quinjet. As they exited the aircraft, a trio of superheroes ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, Y/N couldn't help but feel grateful for the bonds forged not just in battle but in the quiet moments of care and concern.

natasha realising some of her knifes are missing and she walks in on tony and her daughter using them as darts while bucky is just like ur mothers gonna kill you (completely random😭)
Sharp Lessons
WinterWidow x Daughter!Reader
Summary: Natasha founds out you and Tony were playing with her knives.
———
Natasha had just finished her morning training routine and was heading to the kitchen when she noticed something was off when she picked up her weapon case. Natasha had a finely tuned sense of her surroundings. So, when she noticed the lack of weight in the case, her brows furrowed. The absence of several knives didn't sit well with her.
She muttered under her breath in Russian as she strode through the Avengers Compound, her mind running through the possibilities. Natasha approached one of the training rooms and froze at the sight that greeted her. Tony was laughing, and beside him, you were holding one of Natasha's prized knives. The pair of you stood in front of the dark board, and Natasha’s knives were embedded in it with alarming precision.
Nice throw, kid!" Tony exclaimed, patting you on the back as you nailed the centre of the target.
Bucky was sitting on the bench nearby, arms crossed and a smirk playing on his lips. "You do realize your mother's gonna kill you, right?" he drawled, looking directly at you.
Your grin faltered as you noticed your mother standing in the doorway, arms crossed and a raised eyebrow that made it clear she wasn’t happy with you. Tony turned around casually, seemingly not caring about the situation. "Hey, Nat! Didn't know you were back."
Natasha's voice was unnervingly calm. "Tony, those knives are not toys. Y/N, what were you thinking?"
You glanced nervously between your mother and Tony. "I... uh... we were just… practising? Uncle Tony said it was okay."
Tony gave a sheepish smile. "Listen, she has excellent aim. Could be useful in a mission someday."
Natasha sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Tony, you are not helping. And Y/N, just because you can throw a knife doesn't mean you can just take mine without asking."
Bucky chuckled, getting up from the bench and walking over to stand beside Natasha. "Told ya," he whispered to you, and you shot him a playful glare.
You turned back towards Natasha and nodded earnestly. "I know, Mom. I'm sorry. We won't do it again."
Natasha's expression softened slightly as she looked at her daughter. "I'm not angry, just... be more careful next time, okay?"
You nodded quickly. “I will, I promise.”
Natasha uncrossed her arms, finally allowing herself a small smile. "Good. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be taking my knives back."
She moved to collect her weapons, and Bucky gave her a supportive squeeze before turning to Tony and You. "Next time you want to have fun, maybe stick to something a little less... lethal."
As Natasha walked out of the room, knives in hand, she heard Tony mutter to you, "Your mother’s scary when she’s mad."
You laughed softly, glancing at your dad. "Yeah, but at least we know she cares."
Bucky chuckled, ruffling your hair. "That she does, kid. That she does."

Grew up and fade away
- here's the last request of all time :)) I'll miss writing fics ig but the good news is I'll probably just delete the app so you guys can still enjoy my fics!! It's been a great year and a half with this app :3
"She's never gonna understand, Nat" Wanda spoke in a hushed tone.
A furrowed eyebrow and worried looks have been shared all night. Never in a million years, had they thought this could happen. You are so precious and sweet.
"Mama?"
They immediately put a smile on their faces. Trying to get rid of the frown and act like everything is fine.
"Yes, honey?" Wanda answered.
"Where are we going?" you questioned. "And why do I need to bring Mrs. Widow?" you were referring to the plushie they gave you on your 5th birthday.
Wanda looked at Natasha sending a signal to help her out because she couldn't act normal and tears were starting to build up in her eyes.
"Well, honey." Nat pondered. "Your mama and I thought we could hang out with Mrs. Widow today" she lied.
"But I only bring Mrs. Widow when you and Mama are not around" you pouted. "Are you gonna go on another trip?" you asked. Usually, they'd bring Mrs. Widow with you to Tony's to look out for you when they were on their mission.
"Oh no baby" Wanda butted in. "We're just gonna have a little get-together" she bitterly smiled. "Like a tea party"
"Okay!!" you giggled.
Oh, how innocent you were, Natasha thought. How could they leave someone like you?
On the way to your destination, you recognize the streets. You know where the car was going. And you prayed you guys were just gonna pass there.
As the car stopped your heart dropped. "Mommy? Why are we here?" Natasha looked at you and just smiled. You got out of the car confused about what was going on. You can hear Wanda's silent cry and you can get rid of the pounding in your chest.
"I don't wanna go in there" you murmured seeking comfort from your mommy by holding your arms up to get carried.
Your parents greeted the people there until they got into an office. You guys sat in silence and your grip on your mom grew stronger. You didn't want to let go.
"Mrs. and Mrs. Romanoff?" a lady with formal attire asked. Your parents simply nodded.
"She's ready for her" she ushered.
For her? Does she mean me? you thought.
When Natasha carried you to another room a person was waiting. She had the same hair as you, the same eyes, and the same nose.
"Is that my daughter?" the lady asked.
Your grip tightens more than ever. Natasha was trying to pry off your arms so the lady could have a look at you. But the more she tried the more you clung to her.
"It's okay, honey" Wanda assured.
"No!" you bite.
"It's okay, someone just wants to meet you" Wanda assured again but you weren't dumb you know where this is going.
"No, mama!" you insisted.
Natasha desperately pried you off her until your grip grew weak. She passed you to the lady like a piece of toy. You trashed around not caring who you hit.
"It's okay I'm your real mother," the lady said but you didn't care.
"NO!" you shouted. "Mama help!" you desperately cried.
Wanda cried seeing you like this. They never knew a day could come that you were gonna leave their side. Getting you from foster care when you were only 7 months old brought them joy and now that you're seven the real mother wants to take you back.
"Mama!!!! Mommy!!!!" you sobbed. They never moved and never tried to interfere. It was getting on your nerves. "MAMA!!!!"
They hadn't heard you cry like this in a while. Your cry shattered their hearts into pieces.
"Maybe it's better if you guys head out" the lady with a formal attire said.
"NO!" you insisted. "Mommy don't leave me" you wailed.
Oh, how Wanda wanted to take you and run miles from here. How desperate she was to not bring you back here. But still, they slowly went out the door.
"MAMA!!!" you wailed again trying to pry your hands out of the random lady who claims to be your mother.
"I don't want to be here!" you shouted.
"Mama, Mommy please don't leave me" you sobbed.
But all they did was smile.
P.s i dont really know how foster care works😭 bare with me for the sake of angst

From this request.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
You raced after your target as fast as your feet would carry you. The young girl reminded you of yourself when you’d first been brought to Hydra. She fought hard and was determined to get away from you, but it wasn’t long before you’d cornered her in an alleyway with a dead end.
Her cries for help made your ears ring, and you would have given anything for her to just shut up. You could feel guilt weighing heavily on your chest. It was crushing. You were about to confine this little girl to a life of misery, just like your own.
Your body felt like it was on fire, every instinct you had was telling you to turn around and leave her there, to let her go, but you didn’t. You couldn’t. You pointed your gun at her as you dialed a number on a burner phone, giving the person on the other end your location.
The poor girl cried with all her might, tears streaming down her face. You felt like you were going to be sick. You wished she’d been able to get away from you somehow.
She shrank back until she was against the fence behind her just when you felt a hand on your arm. You kept the gun pointed at her steadily as you took a quick glance over your shoulder.
“You’ve done it again, great work.”
You woke from your nap with a start when you heard a beeping sound. Your chest was heaving. You looked around to check your surroundings and your breath started to even out upon realizing you were safe on the living room couch and your moms were in the kitchen making dinner. The microwave had just gone off.
“Hey, sleepyhead,” Natasha came over when she saw that you’d sat up and were awake, running her fingers through your hair tenderly. “You knocked out at the end of the movie. How was your nap?”
“It was okay,” you nodded, avoiding her gaze. “I’m going to wash up before we eat.”
You needed to clear your head before you sat with them for dinner. There was no way they wouldn’t be able to tell something was up and the last thing you wanted to do was to put your problems on them.
Upon locking the door to the bathroom, your eyes began to tear up. You groaned quietly and pressed the heels of your hands to your shut eyes, willing yourself not to cry. You did your best to steady your breathing and stay quiet, but it wasn’t long before you were choking back sobs while sitting on the cold tile floor.
Your dreams were often plagued by the haunting memories of your past, being controlled by Hydra since your early childhood. You were horrified by what you were capable of. It pained you to think that you had subjected kids to being tormented and ruined their lives. They hadn’t done anything to deserve that. And it was often difficult to convince yourself that you deserved to live in the loving household that you now did, because how could you when many of the kids you’d been assigned to capture probably still worked for Hydra?
Your eyes shot open when you heard a quiet knock on the door. You bit down on one of your knuckles, trying to stifle the sob threatening to leave your throat.
“You alright, kiddo?” Maria’s voice sounded.
You didn’t say anything out of fear of embarrassing yourself, afraid of whatever noise would come out.
“Can I come in?”
She took the sound of the door unlocking as a ‘yes’ and opened it slowly, sitting down beside you.
“What’s wrong, hm?” she murmured, putting her strong arm around your shoulders.
You turned into her embrace, wrapping your arms around her waist as tightly as you could while your body racked with sobs.
Maria held you close and pressed a kiss to the top of your head, “I’m right here, sweetheart.”
Natasha’s footsteps went unheard but she made herself known when she put a gentle hand on your back, doing her best to help soothe you.
Your tears fell freely, but the presence of your mothers was beginning to make you feel better. You were getting ahold of your breathing, matching yours to Maria’s.
Once you were calmer, you moved yourself to sit up with your back to the wall and Natasha was now in front of you, tutting when she saw your tear-stained face and your nose red from crying, “What’s got you so upset, honey?” she asked as she leaned forward to wipe your tears away with her thumbs.
You took a couple of breaths before attempting to respond to her, and while you did so, you realized not many people would be able to understand your feelings the way she might.
“How did… how did you forgive yourself?” Your voice broke as you spoke, fresh tears beginning to fall. “After everything I’ve done,” you shook your head. “I don’t deserve - I can’t - I’m a monster -”
“No, hey,” Natasha took your hand in hers before speaking softly, “You’re working yourself up again. Please don’t talk like that.”
You put your head down and pinched the bridge of your nose as Natasha sat in shock for a couple of seconds, surprised by your question.
It wasn’t often that the Black Widow cried, but as she saw you in your distress, reminding her so much of herself, she couldn’t help it when her eyes started watering.
She looked to her wife for a moment, and when their eyes met, it was clear they were thinking the same thing. Maria could not count the number of times she’d heard Natasha describe herself as a monster.
There were many nights Maria had held Natasha as she cried, feeling like she could never make up for everything she had done. She still felt that way sometimes. Like nothing could be enough for all the lives she’d taken or destroyed.
But you? You might be enough. Natasha felt more sure of that every day. The love she had for you consumed her. It came with an innate need to protect you. Getting to love you felt like healing from her past, something she once never thought she’d feel.
You had a long emotional journey ahead of you in order to come to terms with the reality, which was that you were a victim of circumstance, just like Natasha was. Neither of you asked for the hand of cards you were dealt, but you had to play them.
“Why don’t we go to the couch and talk about this there? Let’s get you off the floor,” the redhead suggested, helping you up.
As you made your way to the couch with Natasha, Maria went to the fridge and brought you water, which you took gratefully.
You sat between your mothers, busying yourself by fidgeting with the edges of the blanket, not feeling too inclined to look at them while you felt so vulnerable, preparing yourself to start speaking. “I have a lot of dreams about my time being controlled by Hydra, some can be really bad.”
Your mind raced as you mulled over how much you were going to tell them. You hadn’t spoken very much about what happened to you while you were being controlled by Hydra. You figured they knew enough from reading your file and Natasha being there when you were taken into custody by SHIELD.
Still, there was a lot you didn’t want them to know. You were ashamed of yourself and terrified that they may not look at you the same way after they knew what you’d decided to tell them.
“I was mostly assigned to kidnappings for Hydra,” A lump grew in your throat as you spoke. “I was having a nightmare about this one girl named Marcy, she was the youngest target I ever had. She was also the last.” You could feel the anxiety you were having in every part of your body. You weren’t sure what you expected them to say but the longer they said nothing the more anxious you became.
“You aren’t going to start forgiving yourself until you’re able to acknowledge that what happened was not all your fault,” Natasha finally said, which made your brow furrow.
When you didn’t say anything, she continued, “You know you didn’t do any of the things you did because of your own volition. Hydra was using a formula very similar to the one the Red Room utilized. You weren’t able to make any decisions yourself. Until you’re able to let up on yourself and come to accept this, you won't be forgiving yourself anytime soon.”
You stayed silent for a couple of seconds before nodding, “I’ve never not blamed myself.”
Natasha offered a soft smile, “I know how that feels. It took me a very long time to get to where I am now. And a lot of help from Maria.”
“And you have both of us every step of the way,” Maria chimed in.
Your eyes watered as the corners of your lips turned up, “Thank you. I love you guys so much.”
Natasha pulled you in for a hug and it seemed like she needed it almost as much as you did, “We love you too. More than you know.”
When you pulled away you turned and hugged Maria, “Thanks for finding me.”
The brunette shrugged with a soft smile, “Of course. But next time why don’t you let us know when something’s bothering you? You scared us there.”
“I’ll try my best. I’m still getting used to the whole asking for help thing. I’m sorry.”
“Ehh, that’s alright. We both know what it’s like to be a little emotionally stunted,” Maria snickered.
Natasha rolled her eyes and playfully kicked Maria’s shin, pretending to be annoyed by her comment as you laughed.
Everything was going to be okay.

———————————————————-
Y/n’s pov
I sat atop the cliff crouched down with my pistol as i watched the team swerve in and out. I had been told to stay put. To not move which sucked because I could fight just as well as them but I’m not about to go against the orders and be screamed at. I heard a rustle in the bushes beside me and whipped around holding my gun out ready to shoot until Wanda stepped out. “It’s just me. It’s time to get back to the jet.” She said in the same cold tone I’m used to.
I stood and followed her to the jet, once aboard I sat in the back after grabbing my bag and waited for the rest of the team to trickle in. “Why didn’t you step up?” I looked up to see Steve standing over me. “We needed the help.”
“Stay put. Don’t move in no circumstances. Do you hear me?” I said standing up. “Your exact words Steve. I’m not about to go against orders.” Natasha stormed on to the jet, her eyes gleaming.
“I almost got shot out there kid! Where the hell were you?!”
“Being lazy as usual?” Tony said as he plopped down in the drivers seat of the quinjet and took off. I stumbled back and fell into the seat earning a quiet giggle from Wanda making me close my eyes and turn around in my seat.
A Few Hours Later/ Wanda’s POV
Nat and I were curled up in our room with a sitcom on the background as her fingers ran through my damp hair. “She was cute on the jet today. The way she stood up to Steve.”
“Hmmm… who?” Nat asked quietly.
“Y/N. Steve told her to stay put and when he tried to ream her out she stood up to him.” I said looking up at her, her face scrunched up in a thinking look.
“He told her that?” She asked looking down at me. “I reamed her out too… I didn’t mean too… I thought-“
“You do that a lot my love.” I sighed. She pouted looking back at the ceiling.
“I don’t mean to come off so harsh…” She muttered. I shrugged and let out a yawn making her chuckle. “Alright. Time to sleep detka.” Tasha pressed a kiss to my head and turned the tv off before the two of us settled down. I heard her soft snores pretty quick but couldn’t seem to settle myself.
I stood after unwrapping her arms from around my waist and made my way to the kitchen, passing y/n’s door. I froze hearing quiet sobs coming from her room. My heart shattered as I leaned against the wall for a few minutes before I heard shuffling and quickly ducked around the corner just in time to avoid being seen by y/n coming out of her room. A soft click announcing her closing her door behind her as her feet padded down the hall.
I followed down slowly, giving her time to do what she needed to do before entering the room. The way the girl froze and slammed the carton of milk down on the counter before she quickly shoved it into the fridge, grabbed the mug she had taken out back in the cupboard and quickly shuffled out of the kitchen making my heart sink even lower.

Chapter Four | Serie Masterlist | Chapter Six
------------
[Earth 717]
Silence was drowning out the entire complex. Wanda and Natasha didn't leave your bedroom; they spent almost all their time crying. Your aunts were not better. Kate tried to keep the team together while Yelena was pacing on the rooftop.
All the avengers were deadly silent. The only noises that could be heard came from Morgan's lab, where she was trying everything and checking the same data for god knows how long. After your moms and America came back, it was like time had stopped.
Tony was about to see his daughter when a portal in a wall caught his attention. Doctor Strange was finally back, and with him a little hope. It didn't take more than five to gather everyone in the meeting room, where Peter and America explained everything to the sorcerer.
Strange always told you to be careful around people who manipulate the time, and of course, usually, he would be a little angry that you took a big risk like that, but not today.
"How can I help you?" He asked.
"Actually, we don't know. We tried everything, but nothing seemed to work." America said.
The magician was intensely thinking before something came to his mind. "I think I have an idea. I can't promise that it will work, and if so, I don't know if it will help, but at least we will know if something bad happens to little Maximoff." Now every gaze was on him, wating for his idea. "But first we need to go somewhere else." He finished his sentence before opening a portal to Kamar-Taj.
The heroes were following him, a little unsure of what was on his mind. Once they reached a spacious place, he sat down.
"I'll need America, Wanda, and maybe Peter and little Stark." He said while he crossed his legs and waited for them to sit with him. Once everyone was ready, he started to explain his plan. "So, we know how much Y/n is usually connected with Wanda, and we also know that she's not in this universe anymore, which is why I need you," he said, referring to America.
"And why us?" Peter asked.
"You were among the last ones who were the Y/n when she disappeared, so you still have a fresh memory of her. I'll use my power to mentally teleport us back to the accident, and then with Wanda and Y/n's connection and America, we should be able to track her more efficaciously in the multiverse."
Everyone held their breath while a mix of orange and green auras started to cover the group. The memory of the incident started to play in front of everyone. They all looked at that until the moment. You were approaching Khrono after he pinned America against a wall. You lifted your knife, and when you were about to throw it, everything froze.
"Strange, something is wrong with America." Natasha said.
The brunette had her eyes totally shining, but not like when she used her power; it was different. It felt like she didn't control what she was doing. Wanda tried to reach her, but she could not do anything. The younger woman collapsed on the ground.
-------
[Earth 616]
Fury was leaving your room before seeing Maria Hill and Dr. Cho.
"Sir, you made two big discoveries; you need to see that." The doctor said and gave him an iPad while they made their way to his office.
"What is this?" The man asked.
"Scarlet's genetic code." Maria said while they entered the room. "Don't you see something strange?" she asked before showing the same thing on a big screen.
In front of the man's blank face, Cho started to talk. "I analyzed her DNA like you asked. I found two interesting things in her DNA. First the most obvious one," she typed on some bouton on the tablet, and two other genetics were now surrounding yours, "her DNA is the exact same as Wanda Maximoff and Natasha Romanoff. It's like…"
"It's like she's their biological mother." Fury said, and Maria nodded.
"But's that not the only weird thing; look at this," the doctor said before showing the genetic code of every Avenger. "Don't you see something different?" she asked him, and when he shook his head, she started again. "I don't know how to say that, it should be impossible, but there is no trace of any male DNA in hers."
"What do you mean?" the man asked, visibly curious and surprised.
"Usally, when two people decide to have a kid, there should be some trace of both genders DNA in their kid's DNA, whatever the gender." Maria said this time. "Even when a couple decides to go through IVF. But she doesn't. At first, we thought that her dad was someone who wasn't registered in the SHIELD or SWORD data base, but even if we compare with the international data bank, we have no match."
"It doesn't look special like that, but it's impossible even for us or any organization to do something like that. So we exclude Hydra and the Red Room from the list of potential places that she's from." Cho said.
"For a moment, we thought that she might be from another planet, but according to the data that Carol Danvers sent us, there is only one type of alien who can reproduce like that, but their DNA is closer to snail than human." Maria explained.
Fury was staring at the screen, totally unsure of what to say.
"Oh, and before we leave, I need to show you that." The doctor changed the screen. "This is a scan of Scarlet's power; at first, it's okay, but if we look closely, we can see some inconsistent gaps in her energy."
"Which means?" Maria asked this time.
"Two option. Option one, and maybe the most accurate, is that she's losing control over her power, which can explain why she almost kills Sam and the others while she seems totally non-aggressive toward them. And two, even if it's maybe the most crazy one, is that she may be slowly losing her power. The spider boy told me that he saw her falling from the sky just after a red aura around her disappeared." The doctor explained.
"Well, that's more than I imagined. Don't let anyone know about that. Not yet." Fury said, and the two women nodded before leaving the room.
~~~~
Peter was on his phone while a portal opened in his apartment. "Hey, America. What are you doing here?" He asked the young brunette.
"Peter, I think I just found something weird." She replied. "I was curious, so I traveled through the multiverse to find this girl; you know, to try to learn more about her. But there is my probleme I--" She couldn't finish before feeling a big headache.
"America!" Peter caught her before her body hit the floor. "Hey, America, wake up! What should I do? I can't go to see the avenger; I can't—Strange, I need to call Doctor Strange." He picked up America's body and gently laid her on his couch before grabbing his phone.
~~~~
You were staring at the ceiling, trying to figure out what happened, before you heard the door open again. This time, you sat up immediately and stared at the woman in front of you.
"I bet you didn't see that coming, right?" Wanda said before taking a chair and sitting in front of your bed. She stayed like that, saying nothing, just analizing you. "They didn't lie when they said you looked like me and Natasha."
"What are you doing here?" You asked.
"I can ask you the same question." She shrugged. When you didn't talk, she said. "Actually, I saw your fight; you're pretty good, even if you still have some things to learn."
"What do you want?"
"Me, nothing. But you, what do you want, Scarlet?" She smirked. "That's a pretty good name, no? I love scarlet; it's the same color as our power. And even more crazy, it's sound like Scarlet Witch." Her expression suddenly became more dark, and she stared at you. "Now come on, tell me, who are you, Scarlet?"

I just had an idea of adopted!reader being like Komi ( she's from an anime, basically she has a like an extreme social anxiety where she doesn't speak and she just straight up freezes when someone tries to talk to her ) her adopted parents / wandanat brings and introduces her to the team and they're confused of why she's not speaking.
Have a fantastic day / night! Xoxo .

Wanda is holding Y/N’s hand as the two of them, and Natasha, wait for the elevator in the Avengers Tower’s lobby. “Are you excited, honey?” She squeezes Y/N’s hand, glancing down at her with a smile.
The teen nods, keeping her eyes on the numbers on top of the elevator.
She isn’t necessarily excited, but she isn’t displeased by it either. She has wanted to meet her parents’ families for a while now, but there has always been a question whether or not she is capable of meeting them.
Natasha and Wanda are used to Y/N’s nonverbal answers by now. She didn’t talk to them at all for the first few weeks, which made them worried something was wrong, but soon enough they figured out that the girl is just incredibly nervous around people. Nowadays she is comfortable enough to talk to them, though the two adults are still more talkative compared to her.
The elevator lets out a ding once it reaches the ground floor, its doors opening.
The trio steps inside and Natasha presses the button for the right floor. “We made sure that only few team members are there, okay?” She moves to Y/N’s other side, setting her hand onto her shoulder.
Y/N looks up at her mom, giving her a small smile. A lot of people in her life, before getting adopted by Natasha and Wanda, thought her minimal expressions were rude. But the two ex-Avengers never faulted her for them, they’ve always known she’s still being genuine.
As the elevator goes up the floors, the nerves in Y/N start to rise. She tightens her hold on Wanda’s hand, the feel of it bringing her some sense of comfort.
The ride to the 91st floor is over fairly quick.
The elevator doors open once again, the quiet chatter of the few team members present audible though they are not yet visible.
The trio walk out of the elevator, Y/N’s steps slightly slower now that the presence of unknown people is clear. She stays close to Wanda as they walk towards the living room, practically glued to her side.
“Hi everyone.” Kate, Steve, and Pietro turn to look at the three of them when Wanda speaks. “This is Y/N,” she brings her forward, “our daughter. And these are some of our teammates.” She glances at Y/N as she gestures at the three Avengers on the couches, naming them all individually.
Y/N doesn’t look at them directly, rather having her gaze on the back of one of the couches. Her body is tense, she can feel all of them staring at her.
“Just a teammate?” Pietro scoffs, standing up with a grin. “I’m her uncle, sister, give some respect to my title.”
Wanda rolls her eyes. “Yes, yes, that’s your uncle Pietro.” She mumbles to Y/N, standing behind her with her hands on her shoulders.
The playful annoyance in her mother’s voice makes a small smile appear on Y/N’s face. However, it quickly disappears when the attention completely shifts to her.
“How old are you, kid?”
Though Steve’s voice is calm—a reason why Wanda and Natasha wanted him to be one of the first ones to meet her—Y/N still felt incredibly anxious. She continues staring at the couch, her hands fidgeting behind her back as she stays quiet.
“She’s 14.” Natasha speaks up soon after, knowing her daughter wouldn’t be speaking.
Steve glances at Natasha, nodding with a small smile. "So, how is school then? What grade are you in?"
"Can you be any more of an old man." Kate mumbles, snickering with Pietro. "What movie do you like? Or are you more into series?"
"Do you like video games? Me, Kate, and you could play some mario Kart." Pietro joins to the questioning.
Y/N's eyes widen as she listens to the onslaught of questions from her mothers' teammates. Her heart starts hammering in her chest, the thumping of it almost deafening in her ears. She starts breathing heavier, faster, deperately trying to reign it in, she doesn't want these people to see her like that. She tries to open your mouth to answer, to answer at least one of the questions, but it's almost like her body is frozen.
"She likes both, current favorite is...Fallout series, if I remember correctly." Wanda answers, her voice muffled in Y/N's ears. "Video games too, she actually got us both into Stardew Valley." She laughs, bumping her shoulder gently against Natasha's.
"Sister, please." Pietro groans, stepping closer to the three of them, his eyes on Y/N. "Let the kid answer some of the questions too. What else do you like to do?"
Her hands start to tremble at the attention on her, a cold sweat starting to appear on her skin. Y/N clears her throat, though she isn't sure if any sounds even leaves her. She feels her mind going further and further away, her thoughts not making sense anymore. She swallows onece, twice, her throat starts to feel smaller.
"Would you give us a moment." She can hear Natasha's muffled voice as a hand takes hold of her arm, pulling her into the corridor and away from the people. She can see the mix of worry and confusion in the other teammates' faces at a glance.
Natasha and Wanda pull their daughter into their old bedroom, gently pushing her to sit on the bed. "Sweetheart," the latter whispers, "you are okay. Take some deep breaths for me." Shaky breaths leave Y/N's mouth. She holds onto Wanda's hand tightly while leaning against Natasha, their proximity bringing her comfort.
It takes her a while, but she manages to calm herself down before a full blown panic attack happens.
"You're okay, nothing's going to get you." Natasha whispers, her hand rubbing Y/N's back. "We can stay here, just the three of us. There's no hurry to go back or meet anyone else."
Y/N leans her head against Natasha's shoulder. Wanda taps her chin softly, making her move her gaze to her face. "You did so well in there, you hear me? Don't let this pull you down, my darling."
Although, she doesn't fully believe her mother's words, Y/N nods and musters up a tiny smile for her. A sense of disappointment does fill her for being unable to talk to the people her mothers are close to, but she tries to remember their words. It's not her fault, and every social interaction is a victory, no matter how small.
"How about we stay the night here, yeah?" Natasha wraps one arm around Y/N and the other grabs Wanda's arm, pulling them both down to lie down on the bed. "We'll stay here all night and only go out when we need to eat."
Wanda laughs as she gets pulled on top of Natasha. "Sounds wonderful, baby."
A small smile grows on Y/N's face as she listens to her mothers laugh. She cuddles up to them, happy to stay in the Avengers Tower as long as they stay in the bedroom.

So, I'm not a prisoner? part 2
Tumblr media
masterlist part 1 part 2 part 3 extra
summary: you did not expect that your mission to take down the traitor, could end in such a difficult situation for you…
pairing: Natasha x Red Room teen reader
warnings: like, one swear word
genre: fluff, angst
words: 2554
a/n: I apologise if this chapter isn’t the best. I’m in a bit of a depression slum so I’m not really motivated to do anything right now. I might come back later and fix this chapter a bit
You do not have my permission to repost, copy or translate my work
 |——————————— ⴵ ———————————|
After leaving the apartment, you immediately noticed the SHIELD agents piled up outside. They must have been listening to your conversation.
Natasha led you towards a SHIELD car, opening the door for you, allowing you to get in. She got in the drivers seat, and followed by about a dozen other SHIELD trucks, she drove towards an airport nearby.
The Quinjet was waiting at the airport, Clint Barton apparently inside of it.
“I know this must be very overwhelming for you,” Natasha spoke, glancing towards you before focusing on the road again.
You stayed quiet, instead staring out the window as you watched all objects blur.
“I promise you we are going to help you,” Natasha affirmed. You turned your head, looking at her.
“You can’t honestly sit there and tell me you are certain they won’t lock me away the moment I set foot in there,” you stated, and Natasha looked at you, giving you a sad smile.
“I promise you, I will do everything in my power to make sure you won’t be locked away,” Natasha started, focusing back on the road and taking a deep breath.
“How can you be so sure?” you asked.
“I’ll think of something. I can put you under my supervision. I can lock you in a room and make sure you can leave it with me. Anything. I will come up with anything,” Natasha assured you. You didn’t want to believe her. You didn’t believe her, yet for some reason, whether it was her tone or the way that she spoke, you couldn’t help but deep down, believe her, even just a little.
You sighed and looked back out the window, wanting nothing but to wake up from this nightmare.
Yet then again, if this were a nightmare, wouldn’t you just wake up in your old one?
Your mind was a mess, and you could hear all the voices in your head scream at you. You saw Madame B every time you closed your eyes, just yelling at you. Telling you what a screw-up you were. Telling you all the ways that you failed them.
You always hated Natasha Romanoff for being a traitor, but now you met her, and you couldn’t help but think that maybe you were wrong.
And even if you weren’t, you were now officially a traitor as well.
You wanted to make Dreykov proud. That’s what you were supposed to do, right? If you made him proud, you’d get rewarded. You were the pride jewel. He loved you, didn’t he? He cared about you. You weren’t some disposable Widow. You knew that. But, then again, he was the one that told you that. And could he really be trusted?
You groaned slightly, rubbing your temple with your right hand and you closed your eyes.
“Everything okay?” Natasha asked, giving you a concerned glance.
“I’m fine,” you bit back quickly, hating to look weak. Natasha didn’t take you response as hurtful. She knew you weren’t actively trying to hurt her. She understood the way you were raised, and she’d be damned if she, or anyone else, would ever misunderstand you.
The drive to the airport didn’t take long, and soon enough you could spot the Quinjet from the car.
“You brought the Avengers superjet…?” you asked, and Natasha gave you a small smile as she nodded. “That’s not exactly subtle…” you told her, yet Natasha just shrugged.
“It’s fast,” she responded, driving the car as close as she could get it to the Quinjet. Once she stopped the car, she got out, walking over to your side and opening the door for you. You didn’t acknowledge it as you got out, immediately noticing the other SHIELD trucks that were parked closely.
Some agents stood outside their cars, their hand on their weapon as they watched you.
You noticed a woman walking towards you, and you took a step back when you decided she was way to close.
The woman didn’t acknowledge your defensive attitude, instead holding up a pair of handcuffs and reaching for your hands.
You pulled your hands back, and before the woman could say anything, Natasha had noticed what was going on, stepping in front of you and stopping the woman.
“What are you doing?” Natasha asked, despite the fact it was obvious.
“It’s protocol,” the woman claimed, yet when she tried to step towards you again, Natasha stopped her.
“She came willingly,” Natasha stated, but the woman just shook her head.
You noticed neither of them were going to give up, and quite honestly you just wanted to get rid of the woman. And so, you took a step forward, holding up your hands to the woman, giving her an expecting look.
Natasha looked a bit shocked, yet didn’t take long to place her hand on your arm.
“You really don’t have to,” she stated, but you interrupted her.
“It’s fine. Let’s just go,” you stated, and the woman nodded as she made quick work of handcuffing you.
After she was finished, Natasha gently took your upper arm, leading you towards the Quinjet. Clint Barton was already waiting on board, having a small smile on his face when he spotted you two.
“Hey kid, nice to see you turn over a new leaf,” he said, yet you just scoffed.
He didn’t seem offended, but rather just smiled and turned the chair around, facing the control panel.
He pressed a few buttons, and the Quinjet closed.
“Take a seat. We’ll be flying for a few hours,” Natasha announced, and you nodded as you held up the pair of handcuffs.
A look of shock and confusion took place on Natasha’s face, before she quickly regained herself and gave you her famous smirk.
“Damn… You’re good good,” she told you, and you gave her a small smile before you sat down on a seat.
Natasha discarded of the handcuffs, placing them in some cupboard before taking a seat next to you. “I know you’re scared, and I know you’re not showing it, and you’ll never admit it, but I promise you, I will make sure everything is gonna be alright,” Natasha said, looking forward, not wanting to pressure you.
You would of course never let her know, but you appreciated what she said. You would indeed never admit it, but you were scared.
You weren’t just scared of the Avengers, though. You were afraid of what Dreykov would do to you. You were afraid what he would think, and what he would say. He would be so disappointed. Natasha Romanoff was right there. The traitor is sitting right next to you. You could so very easily just kill her. Slit her throat. Her guard was down. She would never see it coming. Dreykov would be so proud.
You weren’t sure whether you wanted to kill her, and for the first time in your life, you found yourself debating whether you should kill her or not.
Never once in your life did you think about killing someone or not. Never once did you think about the consequences. I was always just another assignment. Another person you had to wipe from existence, and you never, ever, dared to give it a second thought.
This experience was weird for you.
You didn’t really want to kill Natasha, but yet again, you were supposed to, so why wouldn’t you? It’s not like you really cared whether Natasha lived or died. Did you?
You simply sighed and let your head fall back against the wall behind you, closing your eyes and letting your thought run through your head. What would Dreykov say? You knew what he would say. Deep down, you knew he didn’t care.
-------------------------------------------------------------
After the Quinjet landed, Natasha and Clint guided you through the Avengers tower, claiming they need to take you to an office so you could speak with the director, Nick Fury.
You, of course, knew exactly where that office was, yet you decided to keep your mouth shut and just follow them. You didn’t want to make this situation worse for yourself. You knew the entire lay-out of the Avengers towers, and you were pretty certain Natasha was aware of that.
Once you took the elevator and made it to the office, Nick Fury was sitting behind his desk, Maria Hill standing of to the side with a clip board in her hand.
There were Shield agents standing outside the door, and you were pretty sure they were there to make sure you couldn’t try anything.
“Take a seat,” Nick Fury simply said, and you looked at Natasha unimpressed, before you took a step forward, setting yourself down in the seat at the other side of the desk, across from Nick Fury.
“You understand we cannot trust you, correct?” Fury stated, and you looked him in the eyes, enough for him to accept it as a yes, apparently.
“Director Hill,” Fury then mentioned, getting up from his seat.
Maria Hill walked towards the desk, placing her clip board on it as she sat down herself. She gave you a small smile. You didn’t return it.
You were focused on your surroundings. Clint had left the room. Natasha was leaning against the wall next to the door. She probably didn’t want to disturb the conversation, yet she didn’t want to leave you alone. Maybe she just wanted to keep her eye on you.
Before Fury walked away, he turned to look at you.
“Don’t fuck this up,” he stated, before walking towards the door, leaving the room.
You turned your gaze back to Maria, who had picked up a pen, now waiting for your attention to turn back to her. Once it did, she began speaking.
“I’m just going to ask you a few questions, and you just try and answer them to the best of you abilities,” she explained, and you nodded slightly.
“Could you please state your full name and date of birth?”
“Y/n, the rest I don’t know…” you replied, and Maria nodded. “Do you have any idea of how old you may be?” she asked and you nodded, giving her your assumed age.
She wrote the information down, scratching some things out on the clipboard before turning to the next question.
“Do you know where you were born?” she asked, and you nodded.
“I was born in Russia, but I’m not sure whether my parents were Russian,” you explained, and Maria nodded as she wrote it all down.
“Have you always been in Russia?”
You shook your head, briefly telling her about certain mission you had been on that took longer than a month.
There was that time in Seattle, when you lived with another Red Room Widow pretending to be your mother. You had gone to an actual school, and you had had actual friends.
There was another time in the Netherlands, when you were with a Hydra agent. Something about a debt Dreykov owed to Alexander Pierce. You had been chosen for a mission with a Hydra agent. You were posing as a normal teenager, whose mother passed, which is why your father moved you all the way to the Netherlands. You enjoyed the learning the language, yet you found it one of the harder ones to master due to the many odd rules.
Maria wrote every single detail you told her down, not missing a single thing as she made sure everything was on paper.
After a few more questions, and many ‘I don’t know’s’ from you, Maria finally put her pen down, smiling at you gently.
“That’s all for now,” she explained and you nodded.
“Come on,” you heard Natasha say, and you got up, walking towards her.
“See you later,” she told Maria before guiding you out. Were they a thing? Did Natasha see how Maria blushed? Did Natasha notice how she herself blushed?
Whatever.
Natasha led you towards the elevator, pressing a button, then entering a code. You learned about this. To get to the living quarters of the Avengers tower, you had to enter a code. This was to prevent any unwanted visitors in the living space of the Avengers.
Once the elevator opened, Natasha led you out, guiding you towards a hallway. You followed her the entire way, making sure to walk at least a metre behind her.
You weren’t allowed to walk next to your superiors, and even though you weren’t sure what you place in this tower would be, you didn’t want to take any chances. You didn’t want to stray to far from the manners you were taught.
Natasha probably noticed, but whether she did or not, she decided not to mention it.
Eventually, she stopped in front of a door, pushing a key in the keyhole and unlocking it.
“This will be you room,” she smiled and pushed the door open. “My room is across from this one, and the only other people in this hallway are Wanda and Carol, but she is not often on earth,” Natasha explained, and you nodded as if you didn’t already know it.
You stepped into the bedroom, and it took you a moment to process the fact, that all that space, would be yours now.
“Do you like it?” Natasha asked, waiting by the door.
“It’s so… big…” you stated, slowly walking further into the room. Natasha smiled as she made her way towards another door.
“This is the bathroom. I stocked it with some basic supplies beforehand, so you’ll probably be good for a little while, or just until we get the chance to go shopping,” Natasha stated as she closed the door again.
“This is the closet,” she explained, walking over to the piece of furniture and opening it.
“Right now, there are just some things from me and Wanda that will probably be wearable for you, but we’ll get you some new clothes soon,” Natasha smiled, and you nodded.
Natasha walked over to the desk, sitting down on the desk chair and looking at the ground. It seemed she had something to say, and it would be something you wouldn’t like. You took a seat on the bed, across from her, and simply waited until she spoke.
“Now, because we do not know you, we cannot just let you roam freely around the tower. I managed to convince Fury you shouldn’t be put in a cell, but unfortunately, this door will have to be locked until further notice,” Natasha explained and you nodded.
“He’d be stupid not to,” you replied, and Natasha nodded, giving you a small smile.
“I promise I will come check on you often, okay? And you can leave the room if you are accompanied, so I will make sure to take you on some daily walks or something, alright?” Natasha explained, and you nodded, giving her a smile in return.
“I promise you, everything will only get better now,” Natasha told you, and you nodded as she got up, walking towards the door.
“I’ll get you something to eat, and some entertainment,” she explained, and she left the room.
Suddenly, you were left alone. This was your room. You made the choice. You were officially a traitor. There was no going back. You did this to yourself. You royally screwed up. Or perhaps, just maybe, you made a really good choice?...

eep i’m obsessed with your stories!! if you want any inspiration, maybe soft mama nat taking care of R when she’s sick? R probably isn’t used to being cared for in that way because of her past, and is adamant at first that she’s fine. Ofc Nat provides lots of cuddles and carries weak R throughout the tower
everyone needs a sick day

You figured that your sneezing the other day had just been allergies, and that the chills you had last night were simply the air conditioning being up too high. The unpleasant aching all over must have just been from overdoing it while you were sparring the other day, and your cough was simply a consequence of the air being so dry. It was the middle of winter in New York City, after all.
At no point did you truly consider you were sick. Avenger or not, you were still a Widow, and Widows simply didn't get sick.
Being sick meant you were vulnerable, weak. Weakness wasn't tolerated because weakness got you killed.
It took a long time for you to unlearn all the things you'd been taught, no matter how often Natasha reminds you you're safe when you wake up from a nightmare.
You'd made a lot of progress in your year at the tower, but there were some things that just didn't go away that fast.
So, out of a deeply rooted fear, only exacerbated by the low-grade fever you've had the last two days, you decided you wouldn't tell anyone.
Of course, Natasha, your mentor and mother figure, saw through it straight away when you walked into the kitchen for breakfast. She noted your especially sluggish movements and subtle shivering while you shuffled to the counter.
"How'd you sleep, y/n?" You rub your eyes to try and wake yourself up.
"Fine, you?" It comes out really scratchy and bugs your throat, but you're able to suppress the cough that threatens to bubble up. You're fine.
"I slept alright, just got a little too warm last night, did you notice that?" You're not sure if she's caught on, but you know the tower has impeccable temperature control.
"Eh, a little, wasn't that bad though." You throat feels especially dry when you swallow, and you try to suppress another cough. It doesn't work however, and the choked noise that leaves you is painful.
"Yup thought so." Natasha makes her way next to you and hold her hand to your head, to which you unconsciously lean into the cooling touch. "You're sick, hun."
"M'not sick." You grumble, not bothering to move your head away or sit up straight. You know you've been caught.
"Sweetheart, you're burning up. Let's get you back to bed and get some medicine in you."
Your sick daze impedes your rational thought, and your heart skips a beat at the mention of "medicine."
"No, no Nat 'm fine, really." You stumble when you stand too fast, but Natasha catches your arms gently.
"No, you're sick y/n." Her tone is soft but firm, she's not trying to punish your weakness, she just wants to help. "Now are you gonna listen or do I have to carry you back?" Her mouth quirks up.
You glare defiantly up at Natasha's slightly amused expression. You're not a baby, you don't need to be carried.
Your face scrunches up. "I'm fine." And you sneeze right as you say it. Wonderful.
Natasha raises an eyebrow at you. "Alright then," Next thing you know, she's scooped you up with her hands under your back and legs. "Carried it is."
"Wha-! Nat put me down!" You practically squeal as you squirm in her arms, but her hold doesn't falter once.
"Nope! You, miss, are going back to bed and resting until you're better."
"But-!"
"No buts."
You grumble and cross your arms, tucking your head into her neck, which feels cool against your hot forehead.
As Natasha carries you through the tower, you feel yourself relax. Her neck is relief from the fever and headache, the rhythmic bounce from every step is practically rocking you to sleep.
Your body is still periodically shocked by a harsh cough or chill, but Natasha kisses your forehead and shushes you, or squeezes your body a little tighter against hers.
You think you hear someone say 'hi' because Natasha stops before you're on your floor yet, but you're too content in your position to acknowledge it.
Soon enough, you're being placed gently back in your bed and being handed a glass of water and some Tylenol.
You tiredly swallow the pills and drink most of the water, which is soothingly cold as it goes down.
Natasha tucks you in warmly and swipes your hair from your face. "You'll feel better if you get some rest, малышка, and I'll make you some soup when you wake up."
You giggle tiredly. "You can't cook, мама,"
Natasha blows a raspberry at you. "Okay, I'll microwave you some canned soup. How's that?"
"s' good." You're failing at keeping your eyes open, and Nat turns the bedside lamp off and moves to leave. You grumble.
"What is it, детка?"
You reach your hand out lazily, eyes shut and brows furrowed. "Stay."
Natasha smiles and lifts the covers, scooting down and pulling you close under her chin. "Sleep, love."
After some shifting you settle against her and your breathing soon evens out, soundly asleep in your mother's arms.

"Very good, soldier." A voice interrupted the brief silence that had fallen over the room "You have finally completed your training and you're now ready for a very special mission."
The man stepped forward, allowing himself to get a better view of the subject in front of him in the dimness of the room.
You lift your head, every breath coming out in labored breaths, as you took in the sight of the agent in front of you.
Today's training session has been more intense than any other one, demanding you to overuse your powers.
"And what that might be?" You breathed out, straightening your back
The agent smirked "Oh, I can guarantee that you'll love this mission." He sang
"Then I am ready for any mission the organization has for me." You replied, intrigued by all the mystery of this upcoming mission
"That's what we love to hear." The man declared "Then it's time for you to know the target of your mission."
The agent lifted his hand and held a file up, extending it for you to grab.
"You have all the details here." He declared
You curiously opened the file and peeked at the first page inside of it.
You swallowed the lump that formed in your throat unexpectedly but you tried to maintain your composure as the reality of your actions and the identity of your supposed target settled in.
"I can't." You mumbled, your voice betraying your inner turmoil, as you quickly passed the file back to your boss "This wasn't the deal."
The agent chuckled.
"This was very much the deal, young soldier." He coldly replied "As I can remember, this was the plan you asked our help for."
A shiver ran down your spine and the rhythm of your heartbeat quickened its pace.
"No." You hesitantly shook your head "I said I needed help to take my revenge on her." You explained "Not on all of them. Not on him."
"But why stop there?" The agent raised his eyebrow "Why would you want to take your revenge on just one person when you can take it on all of them?"
"Even if it was true, the others are still my family." You reasoned
"Your family?!" The agent shouted, immediately silencing you "Must I remind you that this so-called family of yours abandoned you, that they threw you away as if you were mere trash?"
"It doesn't matter, Sir." You held your ground "I am not going to kill the Avengers."
You blinked.
The agent grabbed you by your vest with such force that, for a second, you weren't able to process what was happening.
"Listen here, Y/N." The agent mockingly whispered your name "This is HYDRA, not that joke of an agency called S.H.I.E.L.D. you grew up in. Your mission is to kill all of the Avengers, starting with those traitors who are now called Natasha Romanoff and Bucky Barnes. Am I clear?"
"Sir..." You tried to conceal the fear you were feeling, failing miserably "Sir, this went too far. I'm sorry but I can't." You shook your head
A shout was heard and your body collided with the cold floor as the HYDRA agent pushed you with all his force.
"Y/N Yelena Romanova." The agent shouted "You have been ours long before Natalia Romanova decided to play pretend that she can be something she was never meant to be." He hissed "A mother."
You kept your mouth shut, too afraid of saying something that might anger the agent more as he continued speaking.
"She stole you from us, gave you another name, just for you to return on your own will to us and ask us for help to get your revenge on her." He reminded you "We took you in, trained you, gave you powers, all just so you could make her pay and now you dare to reject the opportunity to kill them?!"
"Sir, I just..." You tried to defend yourself
"Shut up!" He ordered "I am going to give you three hours to think about your answer just to show you that we can have some understanding towards our subjects and when I'll summon you back to me, I hope I won't regret giving you a chance."
You nodded "Yes, Sir!"
"Now disappear." He pointed with his head towards the door
You stood up from the ground and dusted your clothes before making your way to your assigned room.
-
~~~~~
Your heart pounded in your chest as you sniffled your fear away.
This was what you wanted after all.
This was what you needed.
You needed revenge and this was the only way you could achieve your goal.
Machines hummed and buzzed around you but you tried to not mind their noise as you were keeping your calm demeanor as a façade to protect yourself.
"Alright, subject." A man dressed in a white coat looked at you "Are you ready for this?"
You nodded, determination shining in your tired eyes "As ready as I can be. If this will help me prove to my mother that I can be useful too, then hurry up and do it."
"She's ready." Another man's voice was heard from somewhere inside the room but you couldn't tell exactly who spoke as the restrainents that kept you glued to the cold metallic table stoped you from looking
The man with the white coat pressed a few buttons and in a fraction of a second, pain flooded through your body as waves of electricity swirled around you, sending shocks flooding through your body.
Time seemed to stay still as you screamed out in agony out of pure reflex, your body spasming with each shockwave you received.
In that moment, buried memories resurfaced inside your mind.
You remembered the happier times and a pang of sadness weighed heavy on your heart.
But just as the good memories came to the front of your mind, so did the bad ones, reminding you of the true reason why you came to HYDRA for help.
The Avengers hate HYDRA and HYDRA hates the Avengers.
You hoped that by joining and serving the rival organization, you could make Natasha realize how wrong she was for treating you like she did.
You hoped to make them feel betrayed and rejected.
Just as you felt.
Darkness enveloped you, and your weakened body stopped spasming, but one thing remained clear as daylight to you.
You will take your revenge on your family for their betrayal by serving their greatest enemy, HYDRA.
~~~~~
You stared at the cement ceiling of your cell.
Your thirst for revenge was just as present as it was four months ago when you joined HYDRA.
The agent was right.
You wanted to kill the Avengers and make them pay for all of your suffering.
But still, one thing made you hesitate.
You sighed.
A memory of a smiling Tanya came to your mind and you remembered that she was as innocent as you were in this whole ordeal.
She deserved to grow up surrounded by the love of her parents as she has never done anything else other than loving you like her older sister who you actually were.
Then you thought of Bucky and the last memory you shared with him.
That fateful night, he had bought you a journal, hoping that it would help you manage your feelings better if you wrote them on the paper.
Comparing him to Natasha now, you realize that he was more of a parent to you than Natasha ever was.
How are you supposed to kill him?
Your door burst open and a security agent, who is in charge of maintaining order, walked inside your room.
"The boss calls you to him." He announced in a bored voice
You nodded "Tell him I am coming."
-
You stepped in the silence of the private office, allowing your senses to highen, as your eyes darted aimlessly around the room.
"I have been waiting for you." The voice of the man who had been in charge of your training was heard "Welcome!"
"I would thank you, Sir." You put your hands behind your back "But here doesn't exist such thing as being welcomed anywhere."
The man laughed.
"I see you learned the lesson." He smiled pleased "I hope you bring good news to me."
You kept quiet for a few moments, searching for a way to put your decision into words in such a way that HYDRA wouldn't decapitate you in a matter of seconds.
"So?" The man asked again, impatient
"Sir..." You began, taking your time to form every word that came out of your mouth "I am forever grateful for the chance you offered me and the resources you put at my disposal to achieve my ambitions."
The man slightly smiled, knowing that he had won.
"The Avengers have done me so many wrongdoings that I lost count of them." You continued "And after the time I have been granted to carefully choose the course I want for the next events to take, I came with the answer."
The man in front of you leaned backward in his chair, his body visibly relaxed as he waited for your final decision.
"I will..." You took a deep breath, steeling yourself "Not kill the Avengers, Sir. I am sorry, but I can't. They're my family no matter what."
The HYDRA agent shot up from his chair as his eyes went wide with shock.
"What did you say?!" He shouted, completely taken by surprise by your decision
"I said that I will not kill the Avengers." You repeated "I meant it when I said that everything has gone too far, Sir. Yes, I did want to take revenge on them, specifically my mother, but killing them was never my intention. All I wanted was to make them feel betrayed and hurt by becoming a HYDRA agent. Nothing more, nothing less."
"You foolish, lab rat!" The man sneered and pointed his finger at you "We created you! If you're here today it is all thanks to us! Our scientists were the ones who were in charge of creating you out of almost nothing! Now you dare defy us? You have the audacity to bite the hand that fed you?"
You looked around the room, trying to avoid the man's furious gaze.
"Please understand, Sir." You tried to reason "My heart and conscience don't let me murder the persons that saved me from hell and I realized that I made a mistake to return to the hell from where I've been rescued all these years ago."
The man calmly hummed "Hmm, so that's what you call it? A mistake?"
You braced yourself for what could happen next as you watched the man wave his hand at the shadows behind his back.
"I would call it a blessing." He said "You returned where you belong. To your true family and if your feelings stop you from taking action against your kidnappers, then we will help you gather the courage you need."
You shook your head, understanding what the agent's words meant.
"No..." You breathed out fearfully
But it was already too late.
-
Tanya sat on the carpet placed in the middle of the living room, playing with her toys, as she tried to distract herself from all the yelling that was happening in her surroundings.
"I am tired of your ignorance!" Bucky shouted at his wife, after he came back from another failed search mission where he tried to find you
"I haven't done anything wrong!" Natasha yelled back, her brain blocked in a phase of denial
"You did!" Bucky shouted "You did! You drove our child away! How could you do something like this, Natasha?!"
Natasha froze in place as her shoulders fell down.
She couldn't believe what she just heard Bucky say.
She refused to believe it.
"Natasha?" The woman asked hurt "Since when I am 'Natasha' for you?"
"Ever since Y/N went missing because of your recklessness and pride." Bucky shouted "My Natalia would have never done that to her own child. So, therefore, you are not my Natalia. You are not that girl I dreamed of having a family with."
"James, please." Natasha whispered, tears forming in her eyes "I am still the same Natalia you met so long ago."
Natasha reached to grab Bucky's hand but he pulled it away.
"Don't touch me." He said in a raised tone
Natasha sighed disappointed and nodded, pulling her hands back.
"You're mad." Natasha said "I get it."
"Mad is far from how I feel right now, Natasha." Bucky lowered his tone "I feel desperate because I am unable to find the child that has been entrusted in my protection and who knows where she is right now and what happened to her. She's just a child. You are the only one who failed to see this."
"James, just give me the chance to explain myself." Natasha pleaded "I beg you."
Bucky shook his head.
"I don't know what you have done to my Natalia but you are not the girl that made me remember how it feels to be human again." The man took a few steps backward before rushing out of the room, leaving his wife behind
Natasha fell on the couch, letting out a deep sigh, as she placed her head in her hands.
Tanya, that have been silently observing the argument between her parents, stood up, her toys forgotten on the soft carpet as she walked towards her mother.
"Mama?" Tanya cautiously called her mother
"What is it, baby?" Natasha sniffed, raising her head to look at her daughter
"Why hasn't Y/N come back yet?" Tanya innocently asked, still struggling to grasp the complexity of the situation "Is she still mad at us?"
Natasha thought about how to explain to a 5-year-old what was happening.
"I think she still is, Tatiana." Natasha lifted Tanya and sat her on her lap
"And Papa is sad because he couldn't find my sister, isn't he?" The little girl questioned sadly
Natasha guiltly nodded "Yes, sweetheart. That's why Mama and Papa are fighting."
Little Tanya looked down at her lap, her tiny eyebrows furrowing, as her mind tried to put her feelings into words.
Natasha gave Tanya time to speak at her own pace, not rushing her.
After a few minutes, Tanya looked up again at Natasha with eyes filled with tears.
"But Mama..." Tanya's high-pitched voice trembled "Why did you make Y/N go away? She is my sister. You never get mad at me cause I am your baby but Y/N is your baby too and you made her feel very sad. You always made her cry and I miss playing with her. She's the best big sister in the whole world."
A stray tear fell down Natasha's left cheek.
"Can you bring Y/N back home, Mama?" Tanya sniffed "Can you not get mad at her always? If Tanya is Mama's baby, then Y/N is Mama's baby too."
"I'm not sure, baby girl." Natasha let out a shaky breath, realizing her mistake "Mama messed up big time when she scolded Y/N/N."
"I know that Mama did bad." Tanya said "But Y/N is ours and she's my sister. She needs to live here with us."
"And she will, baby." Natasha said determined "I promise she will."
Tanya snuggled closer to Natasha's chest and sighed contently.
"I love you, Tanya." Natasha quietly declared
Tanya kissed Natasha's cheek before she quickly stood up and ran upstairs to her room.
Natasha stared at the open door that Tanya just walked out through, deeply lost in thoughts.
Her talk with Tanya had helped Natasha realize one important thing.
That Y/N was her baby no matter what and that she had made the biggest mistake in her life by doing what she did to Y/N.
And yet one question remains.
Where is Y/N?
-
"Soldat!" A voice said "Your orders are to kill the Avengers, our greatest enemies, and I want the heads of the traitors known as Natasha Romanoff and Bucky Barnes."
The man looked at the masked soldier he had created with pride, knowing that now, they would be invincible.
"Do you understand the command?" He asked sternly
"I am ready to comply." An emotionless voice replied
You stood tall, the black suit and gray vest you were wearing appeared even darker in the shadows of the private office as the mask that covered more than half of your face, perfectly concealed your identity.
The man smirked and pointed with his head towards the door.
You turned around and started walking.
Your mission?
To kill the Avengers.

Spider-Girl bitten more than she could chew in the field ft Natasha Romanoff
The sun dipped below the skyline of New York City, casting long shadows across the bustling streets. Y/N Parker, twin sister to the city's famed superhero Spider-Man, found a rare moment of peace on a quiet rooftop. The gentle breeze played with her hair as she gazed at the city below. Tonight, for once, it seemed like the city was at peace.
Little did she know that tranquillity was a fleeting concept in a superhero's life.
Without warning, the air trembled with a deafening crash. Y/N's head snapped towards the source of the sound. Smoke billowed in the distance, a stark contrast to the golden hues of the setting sun. Her instincts kicked in, and Spider-Girl mode was on. She swung from building to building, closing the distance to the chaos.
As Y/N arrived at the scene, the source of the disturbance became apparent... a building, once standing tall and proud, now crumbled like a house of cards. Panic and fear painted the faces of those trapped beneath the debris. Y/N's heart raced as she assessed the situation, her thoughts flashing to the countless training sessions with her brother.
She had to act fast.
The first responders were on their way, but every second counted. Y/N sprang into action, using her enhanced strength to lift beams and clear paths. The mask hid her expressions, but the grim determination was evident in every movement. Her limbs ached, but she pushed through the pain. People needed her.
Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, was returning from a mission abroad, completely unaware of the chaos unfolding in her city. Her mind was still focused on the shadows of her past, on the faces she couldn't erase. But as she neared New York, a strange feeling crept over her, a premonition that something was wrong.
Y/N's efforts were tireless. She saved lives, pulling people from the wreckage, offering words of reassurance when her own strength wavered. As the last survivor was pulled to safety, a sudden weakness swept over her. Fatigue settled in, and the pain she'd been suppressing surged to the forefront.
Just as her legs threatened to give way, a familiar voice cut through the chaos.
Natasha - Dorogoy! (дорогой = my dear)
Natasha Romanoff, clad in her signature black suit, stood at the edge of the disaster zone. Her eyes widened at the sight of her non-official daughter, battered and bruised, yet still standing.
Without a word, Natasha rushed forward. Y/N's world spun, and she stumbled into Natasha's waiting arms. The weight of her injuries became too much, and the edges of her vision blurred.
Natasha held her, a mix of panic and concern etched across her features. This was the Black Widow, a woman who had faced gods and monsters without flinching, now struck dumb by the sight of a wounded girl.
Natasha - Sweetheart, talk to me.
The Black Widow's voice cut through the chaos as she stroked the younger girl's cheek. Y/N managed a weak smile beneath her mask.
Y/N - Just... had a busy day at the office.
As the girl joked even if her strength was failing, Natasha could only see how much influence Tony had on the kid.
Natasha's eyes narrowed with worry as she took in the extent of Y/N's injuries. It was a rare sight, the stoic Black Widow, momentarily shaken.
Natasha - Come on, honey. Let's get you home.
Natasha said with her tone a strange mix of command and softness.
With that, Natasha scooped Y/N into her arms, carrying her away from the disaster site. The Black Widow moved with a grace that misrepresented her strength, navigating the city's rooftops with ease. Y/N rested against Natasha's shoulder, the pain momentarily forgotten in the safety of those familiar arms.
As they arrived at the Parker's apartment, which was currently empty, Natasha gently laid her down on the couch. Y/N's breathing was laboured, but Natasha's gaze never wavered.
Y/N - I've had worse...
Insisted the teenager weakly, trying to downplay her injuries.
Natasha, however, wasn't buying it. With a gentle touch, she unmasked Y/N, revealing a face that mirrored both vulnerability and resilience. Natasha's fingers traced the edges of the bruises, her eyes reflecting an unspoken worry.
Natasha - You've done enough for today, princess. You scared me.
The older woman admitted with a rare vulnerability in her voice.
Y/N managed a weak laugh.
Y/N - Me? Scare the great Black Widow? I'm really sorry but I can't abandon my duties, Nat. People need help out there.
Natasha shot her a mock glare before her expression softened.
Natasha - And who's going to help you if you push yourself to the brink? You're family, Y/N. You're not allowed to scare me like this.
Y/N's response was lost in a stifled groan as Natasha began tending to her injuries. Natasha's hands moved with a skill born of years of combat, yet there was an uncharacteristic gentleness in her touch. Y/N winced occasionally, but Natasha's soothing words and careful ministrations alleviated the pain.
As Natasha worked, her thoughts wandered to the times when Y/N was just a skinny 13-year-old, brimming with determination but lacking experience. She remembered the day she found Y/N training tirelessly in the Avengers' compound, a self-imposed regimen to keep up with her brother, Peter. Natasha had watched silently, the seeds of a unique bond planted that day.
Natasha - Now, promise me you'll take it easy. No more pushing yourself like this. *raises eyebrow*
Y/N, who was now propped up on the couch, nodded, her eyes reflecting gratitude mixed with exhaustion. Natasha remained vigilant, keeping a watchful eye on Y/N's vital signs.
The evening light bathed the room in a warm glow as Natasha sat beside Y/N, a silent sentinel in the quiet apartment. The city's chaotic symphony had dimmed to a distant murmur, allowing a rare moment of stillness. Natasha's mind, usually a labyrinth of strategies and memories, now focused solely on the girl beside her.
Y/N shifted, discomfort etched on her face. Natasha immediately tensed, ready to intervene, but Y/N's groan turned into a chuckle.
Y/N - You know... You're way better at this mom thing than I expected.
A hint of a smile touched Natasha's lips.
Natasha - I've had some practice.
She admitted as her eyes softened.
As the night deepened, Natasha found herself in a role she never imagined: comforting, caring, and, above all, worrying. The Black Widow, a figure feared by enemies and respected by allies, was navigating unfamiliar territory.
Y/N's breaths evened out, signalling the arrival of sleep's healing embrace. Natasha watched her, a mix of emotions playing across her features as she draped a blanket over Y/N, a protective gesture that went beyond the physical. As the city outside hummed with life, Natasha settled into a vigil by Y/N's side, embracing the unfamiliar warmth that came with a realization. In that moment, the Black Widow wasn't a superhero, she was a mother, fiercely protective of her own daughter.
