“all the deaths could have been prevented if andrey and goncharov just had gay sex” well what if they had gay sex and then still did the killings. i think they deserve to have some killings as a treat

no man has contributed more to cinema than ryan gosling when he discovered his kenergy for barbie (2023) or martin scorsese when he directed goncharov (1973).

fleabag's fourth wall breaks being a metaphor for dissociation, and her doing them every scene EXCEPT when she has sex with the priest where she physically shoves away the camera. it being the first time in the entire show where she's fully present in the moment... poetic cinema.

Sometimes burnt bridges can be rebuilt.
---
Ace Attorney had it's 20th anniversary last year and combined with the long awaited translation of Dai Gyakuten Saiban/the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles I got all nostalgic.
THIS moment is my absolute favourite scene:
Phoenix Wright, terrified of heights, running across a burning bridge above a canyon because he's far more scared of losing anyone else, that he'd do anything to stop it.
And in what would become a recurring motif, when Phoenix is in desperate straits, Edgeworth puts everything on the line to build him back up.
The same way Phoenix saved him.
I love these games.
(longboy combined version under cut cos the quality gets nerfed)

btw the first time i watched goncharov (1973) was also the first time i tried edibles and let me tell you. the clock symbolism??? the experience of watching a three and a half hour long movie haunted by the passage of time all while high as balls in a windowless room??? PERMANENTLY altered my brain chemistry

Knowing “Nerdy Prudes Must Die” was the first idea the Lang brothers had for Hatchetfield makes the whole series so much funnier.
Like, did they know in “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” that the weirdo who demanded a hot chocolate would be the leading man of the high school horror show?
Did they know the prude they mentioned a few times would be a homophobic murderer who defiled a corpse, fucked a ghost, and became a vessel for dark lords?
Was the homeless man joke in BEFORE the recast because they were still brothers, or not?

You see there's a crucial difference between Spartans and Freelancers. Between their fucking insanity.
Spartans were indoctrinated as children. They are finely curated artisan crazy.
Freelancers are the results of some people looking around for the most fucked up individuals they could find and cherry picking the most batshit headcases possible.
See, it's artisanal insanity versus fully organic insanity.
Both results in people willing to jump out of airplanes or whatever.

Thaniel was my friend also. I played with him, grew up while he stayed the same. He made me who I am today, and then he was ripped away from me, same as for you. But you need not be alone any longer. You need not invent friends. Thaniel is back. He is waiting for you.
