I don't know dude. Ask him?
Tumblr media
I suppose that, as many humans that got the indecency of being young and stupid. Or not being in tune with every aspect of other people's experiences in life as if by implying some dumb joke about the awesomeness of the coliseum, and not thinking about you or other modern slaves that could take it personal. He opened his mouth, or use his fingers on the Blue bird and BAM! gave you material to be canceled years in the future. Hurray!
The other thing about touching kids, I think comes from your personal journal.
So go to your favorite nasty blog and cancel him, if it makes you happy.
I'll be here counting the days till the next arrest because drunk and violent behavior, or the news about another ambivalent tattoo the Tall one put on his body. But hey! No worries everything has an excuse for him. That Canon tattoo thing isn't what THEY make you believe, and he did it because he is pure and a very intelligent guy.
So when a tattoo of an swastika appears on his neck, you can believe that is going to be a maize. Or Because it's him we have to accept he did it for the Profound spiritual Buddhist significance.
And if you are asking accountability for my Blorbo. Why don't you explain this from yours...

You can hear the obvious deep words shared between Sam and the elders. Even as the others light-heartedly joked around with Dieufel and Nadege (who had turned back into her human shape), you were too concerned with what was going on on the porch. You try your best to train your ears on anything you could catch. Evita had slowly strolled in at some point but she'd noticed your face screwed up in concentration. She closes her eyes and attempts to listen as well.
"They're worried you guys are going to attract more vampires. Or. . . something worse." You murmur so you didn't disturb the others. Even Paul and Jared were distracted by Nadege conjuring large bubbles that float all the way up to the ceiling before popping. It made the younger wolves laugh; thoroughly entertained.
Evita's round face is calm. "They're right to be worried. That's the thing about magic. It attracts other beings, good and bad. Especially their family's magic. The wards will help but until we get all of them into position there will be vulnerable gaps." Her warm hand is soothing against your shoulder when she regards your agitated expression. "Don't be discouraged.
"This all seems like way too much for me." You quietly admit. "Too much for the others as well. Sam and Dieufel are nearly the same age. We're all so young." War. Jesus, that was what everyone was facing. Your pack had been lucky in the fight with Victoria and her newborns, but against all of the vampires of the Volturi? Not even the help of the Denali coven could make much of a difference.
You catch Eryld Ren's disgruntled voice bleed from the front of the house, as did the others in the kitchen you stall their conversation. The eyes of your packmates look to one another with concern as they strain their human ears to listen in on the conversation. Dieufel and Nadege, while trying to not look like they were eavesdropping, pick at spots on their attire here and there. This was technically a pack matter and you knew if the elders were aware of the witches listening in that they would be none too happy.
"Just because you're alpha doesn't make you free to do as you please!" The older voice bellowed out. You can hear tones coming quietly from the other elders but they're zipped shut by Eryld who is on the war path. "This is something that should have been discussed with us! You've brought these strangers and their magic into our land. Do you even know what you're doing? I swear young people these days don't think!"
Sam's voice in comparison to Eryld's is in a low, calm manner where no one in the kitchen was able to hear what he was saying. He knew how to best handle the elders and their old fashioned ways. And while he may have not been an actual elder on the tribe committee, he did have quite the sway. Especially if it was in regards to the safety of Forks and La Push. He was the one who led us. He still had a say in supernatural matters, things that the elders couldn't really understand for not even they had the honor of calling themselves wolf warriors even in their prime. They'd never felt the exhilaration of shredding out of your soft and vulnerable human flesh to a body that was made of muscle and strength. They had met no other vampires besides the golden eyed Cullens who were a far cry from the vampire norm. Never had the elders had to pray for their life while evading a bite from a red eyed newborn. How could they understand the quick thinking necessary in a situation like that? To you, it was the elders that had no right in barging in on pack business. The witches included that. Sam deeming them trustworthy should have been enough.
A wordless exchange occurs between Evita and Dieufel, her bright eyes in contrast to the dark depths of his. Dieufel takes a breath and passes by the two of you to go out into the living room and address the loud voices of the elders. The rest of you peek out your heads and watch with bated breath as confident Dieufel saunters across the small living room. Sam feels his presence and turns halfway. Both of them stood near the same height and most likely were around the same age. There's a wash of relief at Dieufel's intervening figure. He's grateful to have backup that Jared nor Paul could offer against the elders. An outsider.
"Hello gentlemen." Dieufel eloquently introduces himself with a small bow that has the older men's eyes rounding in surprise. He must look the sight to them as he did dress in exotically bright colors. He adds in a softer exhale "Thank you for having me on your lands. You're apprehensive of the threat we may bring in. My cousin and I have traveled far to help you though. We mean no harm whether intentional or otherwise. If we bring anything that's not of goodness, then we promise to deal with it ourselves. We understand the threat everyone faces in the local town. In honor of our Letizia, we want to help."
"He can charm a snake out of it's den, that one." Nadege quietly snickers against Evita's shoulder.
The rest of the conversation was continued with hushed voices so that everyone in the kitchen was huddled tightly around the door. Seth, Colin and Brady shove to make room for themselves since their hearing wasn't as good as the older members. Paul shushes them when they bicker amongst one another in the process. That quiets them down although you still catch a few hisses of 'move' or 'stop leaning on me'.
With tempers calmed in the front, nothing more could be heard from the men and eventually everyone's back grows sore from stretching out of the kitchen as far as they could without being detected. You stand up and stretch as does Embry and Paul.
"Well, sounds like these have been handled." muses Paul and returns to raiding the fridge for a small snack.
Evita happily nods. "Dieufel has always been the peace keeper."
Nadege leaps back onto the kitchen counter, her long legs stretched in front of her and kick gently. "Oh yes. He's the oldest among all of our cousins and always the one in charge of watching us. With eight squabbling cousins, he learned quickly how to make us calm."
"Is it your entire family that can shape shift?" Brady asks with stars in his eyes, not just for the prospect but also because of Nadege's charm. He's leaning against the small kitchen table that's pressed up to the window.
She nods, her lovely braids moving as she did so. "Yes. Our whole family has been able to turn into birds for as long as any of our relatives could remember. As long as we keep up with our practice, we can keep our bird forms. Once we get older though we can't shape shift. Our anman manman still misses her wings." Her voice grew quiet at that like she's remembering her grandmother who could no longer take to the sky as she'd done in her youth.
Their shape shifting power was much different from the wolves. As long as you kept transforming, it stalled the aging process and one could live much longer than an ordinary human. Sam had told you that when you voiced your worries about Edward. While imprinting tied your souls together, you were still moderately human. Edward could live for centuries but many wolves chose to stop shape shifting in order to age with their human partners. To soothe your worries of you growing old and dying before Edward, he'd told you that as long as you transformed, your aging would be delayed.
"Anman manman doesn't mind too much." Came Dieufel's voice from the entrance of the kitchen with Sam. Everyone had missed the sound of the front door closing and the start of car engines coming to life. "She's traveled more of the world than we have."
Paul straightens up. "Well what was the verdict?"
The light mood that had encapsulated those present suddenly dried up.
Sam sighs and props his large body up against the doorframe as Dieufel joins his cousin on the countertop. "Definitely not happy from being kept in the dark but whether they like it or not, the witches can stay. They want them gone though as soon as the wards are up."
You frown and counter with "But what if something happens to one of the wards? And what if we don't know if they're working yet?" You'd definitely felt a lot safer with Evita there. There was something about her magic that soothed your anxiety and any other negative feelings that ate away at you.
Sensing your distress, Evita puts a hand on your shoulder to comfort your so that Sam can reply. "I'll talk to Billy. He can put more sense into those guys than even I can. For now, we all need to get to work and help them however we can."
"Well, lets not waste precious daylight." Nadege hops off with ease. "Lets get started!"
Yes, no more talking. There was much work to be done for the three witches as they began to pilfer the cabinets for useable tools or ingredients. Evita said many household spices and such could be used and whatever she had left from her recent trip to Port Angeles. More river stones would need to be collected but Brady and Colin were more than happy to escort Nadege out to the forest along with the watchful eyes of Paul who knew that they'd probably be more underfoot than of help due to their puppy love with her. The rest of us were left to Sam's house as we rearranged the furniture in the living room once more like it was a couple of days ago. Those who hadn't been present during Sam's spat with the elders were most likely on patrol. It was just you, Sam, Evita, Embry and Dieufel who prepped the living room.
The knock at the door came as a surprise to everyone since you were so engaged with the task at hand. Sam, being the host, stands tall from where he'd been helping Dieufel move the couch flush against the neighboring wall. His long strides got him to the door in seconds. He opened it to find a nervous Bella Swan already chewing at her bottom lip. At the sight of Sam, she lets go of her lip and attempts to stand straighter in his presence.
"Hey Sam." her voice is quiet but you can tell she's trying her best to be brave in front of your intimidating alpha who towered over her with ease.
"Ah, the witch in training." Sam teases causing Bella's brows to arch in confusion to his words.
Quickly you and Evita shove Sam unceremoniously out of the way. "Bella! It's good to see you." You hastily greet her since Sam didn't. Excitedly you push Evita forward. "Evita, Bella. Bella, Evita."
You'd never seen the expression of pure awe on Bella's face before. Not like that. Her usually pale face had a glow to it when she looked upon Evita. Even knowing that Evita was Jacob's imprintee did not dampen the introduction. "I-It's nice to meet you." She holds out her hand for a shake which Evita eagerly grabs.
"Igualmente.. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to say hello the first time you saw me."
Bella shakes her head. "No it's alright. You literally had your hands full." Her blush is dark and noticeable on her cheeks as she's trying her best not to stutter in front of her. "What you were doing. . . I can't stop thinking about it."
With her hand still holding Bella's, Evita brings her inside and sits her down on the newly moved couch. Bella's eyes catch Dieufel who watches with interest along with Sam. Evita follows her eyeline and says something to Dieufel in her native tongue. In response, Dieufel rolls his eyes and nudges Sam with his arm. "She wants us to leave. Says we're making the girl uncomfortable."
Bella's ears go red. "No, I-"
Sam just chuckles and shakes his head. "It's okay." He addresses the other male in the room. "Lets go see how the others are doing. I can show you through the forest if it will help you."
They go out through the kitchen's back door leaving the three of you alone. It was better like this. Too many people might have Bella even more nervous.
Evita doesn't waste time as we have little to spare. She goes to tell Bella what she had told yourself and Sam about her potential to wield magic. She explains what she had sensed during her crafting of the first ward, how she'd felt Bella the moment she entered the room. Even Bella breathlessly told Evita of what she had felt watching the witch in that moment. It had been an eye opening experience for Bella. One she couldn't push from her mind. She wanted to feel that way again. You'd give Bella credit to how easily she accepted this news.
"Now it won't be easy." Evita confesses, gauging Bella's face. "Since you did not grow up learning and using it. But if you work hard enough, you'll be able to at least meet a beginner's tier. Enough to learn how to make a ward."
Bella turns to you, confidence shining on her face. Confidence suited her. "I can do it."
You and Evita smile. And so Bella's training began.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Little Movie Star Chapter Seven (Jensen Ackles x Daughter!Reader)
[Actors-Masterlist], [Little Movie Star-Masterlist]
Previous Chapter / Next Chapter (05/08/2021)
Summary: Holidays were around the corner & you were more than a little anxious. How did one celebrate Christmas? You had no money for expensive gifts. Well, that meant you had to improvise. Hopefully, it was enough for them.
Words: 3,526
Warnings: Christmas Chapter in May?, anxiety, language, fluff, cute gift exchange <3
~2016~
That night, Jared left your room after you fell asleep. No matter how many times you begged him not to tell anyone about your panic attack, he could not do that. So as the party slowly died down, he pulled Jensen & Danneel aside & told them what he had witnessed. Obviously, they were concerned about you. Yet, they did not go to you right away. If you were ready to open up to them, you would. Still, they kept a closer eye on you from then on, noticing smaller signs of you struggling with anxiety. Jensen hated that you kept this part of you hidden. But he understood that there was a long way for you to fully trust a person & you simply were not there yet. They had to accept it, whether they liked it or not.
Tumblr media
Supernatural had a lot to film before the holidays & Jensen had not really been a consistent part in Vancouver because of him flying back & forth. He felt bad when he told you he had to go back filming until the beginning of December. Brushing him off, you assured him that you guys would be fine alone. Besides, you also had Gen & the kids to entertain you. Over the short time, you had grown close to them. You loved whenever Tom & Shep came by to play with JJ & they wanted you to be a part of it. There were some times when Danneel, Gen & you would have a girls day together. At first, it was a lot for you, but you had grown to love them. At the same time, Danneel & you got to know each other way better, especially with Jensen being back in Vancouver.
Holidays were approaching fast & you had no idea how to deal with it. You had never celebrated Christmas before & were not sure if you should get your new family presents or not. Were they people who valued gifts? Would you receive some? Of course you would, you knew the Ackles’ by now. So you had to think of something. Fast. There was no way you could spend a lot of money on these presents. Not because you did not want to but because it would not be your money. You had saved up a little bit & it would do for small gifts. Then you had an idea.
“Where are you going?” Danneel asked when she saw you putting your shoes on. You coughed shortly, trying to think of an excuse. She knew you did not like going anywhere alone so she was surprised when she found you getting ready.
“Um, just wanna take a walk. I won’t be gone too long.” you promised her & before she could answer, you were out of the door. Danneel was confused by your behavior but she thought it to be positive that you were going outside on your own. Clearly, she had no idea that you were going shopping for Christmas presents.
After buying all the stuff that you needed, you started preparing the presents. You still had over a month left but you wanted to start earlier, just in case. It was not a lot, definitely not expensive, but you hoped they still liked it after unwrapping it. When you realized that you had no idea how to wrap a present, you embarrassingly had to check YouTube for a how-to video. After a few failed attempts & you growing frustrated because you clearly were too dumb to get it done correctly. In the end, you managed to wrap everything. It was by no means good or perfect but you could see what it was supposed to represent.
Tumblr media
“How was filming?” you asked Jensen after he came back home.
“It was good. We had a lot of fun, as always.” he answered with a laugh.
“So…can you tell me what happens?” managing your best puppy dog eyes, something Jared had learned you over facetime while they were shooting, Jensen simply shook his head at you.
“Forget it, young lady. You’re a fan of the show, I won’t give away any spoilers, you have to wait like everyone else.”
“You don’t have to wait.” sighing exaggeratingly, you wanted to argue with him.
“Next season you won’t have to.” this made your smile grow wider. He was right, you would start in a few months & you could not wait to receive your first script. “Besides…The guys told me that they can’t wait to finally meet you & work with you.” Jensen looked at you, watching your reacting.
“Fingers crossed they won’t regret casting me.” you joked which made him laugh. He knew you were not serious but the meaning behind your words left an uneasiness in him.
“They won’t, trust me.” he reassured you. Hopefully he was right.
Tumblr media
Decorating for Christmas was fun. Even Jared & Gen came over to help you out a little. You all planned to spend Christmas Eve together at your house so you could celebrate Christmas the next morning together as well. This would be the first time you were not entirely alone on this holiday. Hell, you had no idea how to celebrate Christmas in the first place. What were you supposed to do? Maybe you would be just fine if push came to shove.
Two more days until Christmas Eve & you could not help but grow more anxious the closer it got. Your fear of doing anything wrong was so big that you barely had time to enjoy the Christmas spirit. Whatever that was anyway…Knocking on the front door that belonged to the house next to yours, you fiddled with your hands, now feeling stupid for coming over in the middle of the night. They were probably asleep, they would not even hear your attempt of knocking. To your surprise, the door opened only a few seconds later.
“(Y/N)? You alright?” it was Jared, his hair tousled from being asleep. Shit, you did wake him. Great, now you were feeling even worse. Shaking your head, Jared ushered you inside quickly.
“What’s up? It’s…” he looked at his phone to check the time. “3 am.”
“I sneaked out.” you confessed.
“And you did that because..?” Jared was confused. Never before had you shown up at his house in the middle of the night. Whatever was bothering you, it was serious, he could tell. He noticed your trembling hands before you had the chance to answer him. Immediately, he walked you over to his couch to sit down. Making sure to send Jensen a quick text just in case he woke up & could not find you, he put his phone away again, focusing entirely on you.
“I’m sorry.” your voice was quiet & Jared felt his heart breaking.
“Don’t be.” he assured you. “Is there anything you need me to do for you?” he spoke softly, showing you that he was not about to leave you.
“I don’t know, I just…ugh.” throwing your head back in frustration, you were angry at yourself for being so childish. Yet, you did not know what else to do. Jared was the only person who knew a little about what you were struggling with. So you did what you thought was right. Knocking on his door at 3 am. Maybe it was not the best decision you ever made.
“Hey, it’s okay. Deep breaths.” he instructed & you followed through. “There you go. You can talk to me, (Y/N).”
“You’d think it’s stupid.”
“Try me.” his answer got a little laugh out of you. Jared’s eyes grew wider when you did.
“I’m scared of Christmas.” you admitted embarrassingly. When Jared did not say anything, you continued. “This is my first time celebrating & I don’t know what to do or what is appropriate or how you guys usually celebrate it or if you expect something from me or-“ Jared interrupted your rambling.
“Hey, hey, hey. (Y/N). I can assure you that nobody expects anything from you. Except maybe the fact that you are there. That’s all that matters. You being with us to celebrate Christmas together.” Jared’s eyes showed nothing but understanding. Your conversation went on for a little longer & when you wanted to leave his house, he told you to sleep in their guest room for the night. Too tired & exhausted to argue any more with him, you let him lead you to the spare room where you embraced the soft sheets right away. It felt good to open up to someone but you did not understand why you were okay with telling Jared but when it came to Jensen & Danneel, you chickened out.
Tumblr media
When you woke up next morning, you got startled for a second, briefly forgetting about last night’s events. What would you tell Jensen & Danneel? Getting up & using the bathroom that was attached to the guest room, you were surprised to find clothes on the counter. Assuming Jared was the one who put them there, a small smile made its way on your face. A quick shower would not be too bad so you hopped inside quickly, letting the warm water soothe your skin. After drying off your body, you put on the clothes Jared had prepared for you. A pair of sweatpants & one of his hoodies. Well, you were not sure if he ever got this one back, if you were honest. You knew your way through the Padalecki’s house by now, due to you spending a lot of time there lately. Paddling through the hallway, you heard distant voices coming from the kitchen area.
“Good morning, (Y/N)! Breakfast is about to be done.” Jared spoke up before you could even see him. What was it with him & his spidey senses?
“Morning, Jared. Sorry again for las-“ coming to a halt right after walking inside the room. Jensen & Danneel were already sitting at the table. Shit, you did not expect that.
“I invited them over for breakfast.” Jared told you. Oh, really? You almost missed that.
“Yeah, I can see that.” chuckling & slowly walking over to a chair, your eyes focused on the floor, too embarrassed to look Jensen & Danneel in the eyes. They were about to yell at you for sneaking out in the middle of the night without telling them anything.
“Am I dreaming or is Jared really making breakfast?” Gen walked into the room & everyone laughed at her comment, even you. Surprisingly, breakfast went by smoothly. Nobody mentioned last night & you were more than thankful for it. But you also knew that Jared most likely talked to Jensen & Danneel about what happened anyway. Who were you kidding, though? They were probably aware of the panic attack you had during the party a while ago. Jared only meant well but still…this entire thing made you extremely uncomfortable. You hated that more & more of yourself got revealed to them & you could not do shit to stop it. Being vulnerable in front of them was awful. Hell, they had more important things to worry about than you & your stupid problems.
Tumblr media
“(Y/N)? Can you come here real quick, please?” Jensen asked you after being back in your house again.
“Sure, what’s up?” you were nervous about what he wanted from you but you had to give yourself that. You played it incredibly cool. Like there was nothing wrong at all.
“So for Christmas Eve, we’re doing a movie night, right?” he knew the answer to that question but still decided to ask. After nodding your head, he kept on. “What’s your favorite Christmas movie?” that caught you off guard. He asked you? Why would he ask you?
“Um, I love “Home Alone” but the munchkins shouldn’t watch that.” you concluded. A while ago, whenever you talked about all the kids, you called them munchkins. You found it cute.
“True.” Jensen chuckled.
“I’m sure they’d love “Frozen”, though.” this made Jensen sigh loudly & you laughed at his antics. In all the time you had been with them, you sure as hell had watched that movie about thirty times. No kidding. Really.
“Okay, you know what? We’ll start off with “Frozen” & after the kids are asleep, we’ll watch “Home Alone”, is that alright?”
“Sure, if you guys don’t wanna watch another Christmas movie.”
“Not at all. This one’s perfect.” his smile eased you & you loved the fact that he wanted to include you in their tradition. Yep, Jared definitely told him.
Tumblr media
Christmas Eve dinner was delicious & you did not feel anxious at all. Chatting, laughing & enjoying each other’s company was more than enough. Your movie marathon was perfect, too. During “Frozen”, you found yourself singing along to each song, as did the little ones. Well, they tried, at least. Everyone was happy to see you enjoying yourself. When you were like that, nobody could tell that you had a shitty past or that you were still struggling with the consequences of it. This was the first time that Jensen had heard you sing & he was surprised that your voice was actually pretty damn good. Maybe you would sing with him one day, who knew? The kids went to sleep & the five of you watched “Home Alone”, happy that the others were enjoying this movie as well. Before you guys went to bed, too, Jensen, Danneel, Jared & Gen placed a bunch of presents under the big, decorated tree. You wanted to wait to add your presents to the other stacks until everyone was fast asleep. So you sneaked out of your room later that night to do exactly that.
Tumblr media
Three kids jumping up & down on your bed woke you from your peaceful slumber. Each of them yelled at you to get up because Santa brought so many presents overnight. Smiling at their excitement, you dragged yourself out of bed & went downstairs. The others were already there. Stopping for a short moment, you took everything in & processed the scene in front of you. This was all so new to you. Everybody had a big smile plastered on their face. Was this what you had missed all these years? JJ took your hand & dragged you over to where the others were already seated.
Presents started being exchanged, kids first, of course. Grabbing three small packages, you walked over to JJ & kneeled down to her. The twins were asleep but you planned on giving them their presents later today. You bought a small, soft blanket for each of them.
“There you go, princess. Merry Christmas.” JJ took her present from you & lost no time in unwrapping it. Her smile widened & she proudly held up the pink magic wand you got her. But there was more to this present.
“I got this when I was your age. Bill gave it to me because I always wanted to be a princess in a huge castle on a hill somewhere. I want you to have it, JJ. Take care of it.” she threw her hands around your neck & you pulled her closer. Danneel had tears in her eyes when she heard your story. Jensen wrapped an arm around her. He, too, was moved by what you told JJ. They did not expect you to give any of them any presents. Yet, you went out of your way.
“Tom? Shep?” their heads perked up when they heard their names being called. You each handed them a package, glad that they were too young to care about how neatly your wrapped them.
“Merry Christmas.” smiling when they started unwrapping their gifts, they let out excited squeals when they saw what you got them. They were the biggest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans. Tom got Leonardo & Michelangelo, Shep held Donatello & Raphael in his small hands. They thanked you again & again until you laughed at them, assuring that it was more than fine.
“Just, don’t argue over them, okay? You gotta share those.” they nodded at you & immediately started playing with the figures. Alright, at least the kids were happy with their gifts.
“Jared? Gen?” you eyed them nervously. “I-I know it’s not much but…Merry Christmas.” you handed them their gift, fiddling with your hands. Jared let Gen open it. A small picture frame revealed itself. You put a picture of the three of you inside. You took it in their backyard, all of you wearing the “Family Has Your Back” hoodie.
“This is more than enough.” Gen started.
“It’s perfect, (Y/N).” Jared finished & waited for you to make a move. If you were the one to initiate a hug, they would not decline. Their smiles got wider when you pulled them into a tight hug.
“Merry Christmas, guys. This is a thank you for everything that you’ve done for me. I don’t know what I did to deserve you..” before you got too emotional, you handed them their package. It was a little bigger & therefore poorly wrapped. “Sorry about the wrapping paper. I suck at that.” you laughed uncomfortably. Danneel only brushed you off, telling you that it was just perfect. They both gasped when they saw what you gave them. You made a painting of the two of them in a pop-art style. Thinking it would fit perfectly in the house & all.
“We need to find the perfect place for it.” Danneel squealed to which Jensen nodded.
“Thank you, angel.” Jensen pulled you into a tight hug, one that Danneel joined a second later. “You have talent.” he added after releasing you. Blushing at his words, you simply thanked him. A while ago, you would have argued, telling him that you were not that good. But you had improved when it came to accepting compliments. The others kept exchanging gifts & you sat by, watching their excitement whenever another present got opened. Slowly, your mood shifted. Maybe you would not receive anything from them? After all, you were still new to the family. That was okay. Did not change you from being sad about it, though. Not wanting to show your disappointment, you kept a smile on your face.
“I believe there is one person left without any presents.” Jensen spoke up & you looked at him with your head tilted. They did not forget about you? There were still two packages left & he grabbed one, Jared took the other.
“Merry Christmas.” all of them said, even the kids joined in. Why were there already tears threatening to spill? Nothing had happened yet.
“That’s not your actual present. But we thought it was the perfect timing to give it to you today.” Jared put one neatly wrapped gift in your lap & when you saw all of them waiting for you expectantly, you went to open it. No way. Was that real?
“Seriously?” you were shocked when you took a closer look at it. “The script for the next Avengers?” they nodded at you.
“Came in a few days ago. I actually wanted to give it to you right away but Danneel had the idea of giving it to you for Christmas.” Jensen explained.
“Thank you! This is…wow.” no words could be formed. You had to read through it later, for sure.
“Here.” Danneel handed you the second gift. “That’s from all of us & from a few others.” sending you a wink, you were left confused. JJ, Tom & Shep sat themselves around you, not wanting to miss anything. Delicately, you unwrapped the present, only for it to reveal a small book. It read “SPN Family” on the cover. There was also a small anti-possession symbol pictured. You were confused but when you asked what it was, they simply told you to have a look at it. Opening the first page, you could not control the tears any longer.
“(Y/N),
this book is filled with letters, pictures & more. Not only will you find our names in there, you will see that almost everyone who’s part of our Supernatural crew has left you a little something behind until you’ll join us on set. Read through it whenever things get tough or whenever you need something to cheer you up. Don’t forget that we’re always here for you, no matter what. You’re family & we care for you.
Merry Christmas, angel”
Jumping up, you ran over & gave each of them a tight hug. You let the tears flow freely, no longer caring about showing your emotions in front of them. The kids dragged you back to the couch, wanting to show you what they contributed to the book. All of them drew a few pictures & you were in awe. That was more than you could have ever imagined.
“Thanks, really. I-I don’t even know what to say.” wiping away your tears, they knew that it was the right decision to get you this present. It almost did not get finished but they managed to get it done in time. And it was freaking worth it.

Transcript of End of the Road Special
Transcript of End of the Road Special.
Please let me know if I made any errors in transcription. Twitter version Family Don’t End with Blood Transcription Winchester Mythology Transcription
Dabb: Ultimately, we came up with something that we're all very proud of Singer: You never know what the audience is going to like so we really tried to say "what would make us happy? Would we be satisfied with where we've taken them?"
The Carry On song was a guideline.
Singer: The myth of what these brothers were throughout 15 years... We didn't shy away from fatalism, but we wanted to be able to have it be kinda uplifting as well.
Dabb: If you're going to do something that feels like a complete arc, you have to kinda go back to the beginning of it (clips of them hunting vamps from s1 & 15.20) When it comes to Sam & Dean- it's all about getting back to, in some ways, these two guys on the road in this car.
Dabb: They've been doing this job for 15 years now. They've fought everyone from demons to vampires to God himself, but at the end of the day, they're still working guys, out there on the road & taking cases. We've tried to never lose sight of that.
Dabb: There are times when we've been wrapped up in our own mythology a little bit. We've always tried to get back to the basics, which are: these two guys, saving people, hunting things.
Eugenie: I think we sort of knew generally what the ending would involve.
Eugenie: We might not have known the mechanics, but we sort of knew there would be a victorious, glorious sacrificial ending bc I think sacrifice is a big theme in the series.
For every great thing you do, a cost must be paid.
Singer: Andrew & I talked about it. We were in agreement pretty quickly... talked to the rest of the writing staff & let them know what we wanted to do and we were open to suggestions. And then we pretty much pitched it to Jared and Jensen.
Jensen talks about flying to LA. Jensen: So before we ever even started 15, we knew how the last portion of the story was going to go. We didn't know how we were going to get there, but we kinda knew the final- the finish line- we knew what... what that was going to look like.
Jared: I don't think there's ever been a season of SPN in 15 years where the way the writers thought the show would play out for that season- ended up being the way it played out And so we were aware of that. They told us here's what we're thinking, here's what happens to Castiel
Jared: In the finale, Dean dies & Sam lives on. And then we think they're going to meet up in heaven.
I remember Jensen... just because I know him so well- he seemed to bristle a little bit.
Jensen: It was hard to hear then & it was hard to read now. Not because I didn't like it, not because I wished it had gone differently... I'm not adverse to it. I think it's a great ending. I'm proud to film it.
Singer: And we just aimed for that, you know, throughout the season. We knew where we were going.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jensen: Reading it & knowing that... there's just a weight that is so much larger reading these scripts than I've ever experienced before.
There's an emotional weight that these scripts are going to carry & these episodes are going to have that I don't think we've ever seen before.
Brad: [J2] were so young when all of this started. They brought to it such conviction & such commitment to the effort.
That's one of the things that kept the show going for so many years... a show that was designed for very young guys, footloose & fancy free, & on the road…
Brad: To see these guys grow up b4 your eyes into- men, not boys any longer- was amazing.
BABY Jared: Though the story does involve Sam & Dean chasing supernatural things, it really is a story about two brothers that love each other & ultimately will do anything for each other.
Jensen: There's really one person that gets it on the level that I get it, and that's Jared. Jared: I've never spent as much time with another human being as I have with Jensen Ackles. He will be my friend and brother forever. And I know that.
BABY Jensen: There's a lot of dynamics between the two brothers, there's a lot of history between them, there's a lot of banter between them... it's good stuff S15 Jensen: We had a partner in crime & we leaned on each other for, you know, for times when it was tough.
Jensen: But we also won together. We got to share the experience of success & the experience of getting picked up for another season. Watching these two characters go through what they're going through, when we're working 14 hours & it's 2-3 o’clock on a Sat morning and we're just now finishing filming out in the rain and mud and we gotta race to the airport to get on a plane because we've got a photoshoot in LA & we've gotta do on camera interviews and we gotta promote the show that we love so much that we were just in the mud & the rain filming hours before we're exhausted and it's like there's only one person that gets that right now. That gets how I feel and that's this guy standing next to me. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool to have somebody like that.
Brad: We knew it was going to be impossible to tie up every aspect of all of the cans of worms that we opened up.
We did want to bring a proper ending to the guys, the guy's relationship.
Brad: Then of course we had this huge corner we painted ourselves into with the most powerful thing in the universe being the big bad of the season. We try and find a proper send off for Jack & for Cas. What to do w/ the boys & is that a together farewell or an individual?
It was just... lots of moving parts.
Dabb: I give a lot of credit to Bobo who really was the one who started banging the drum early & often to ending the mythology in 19 and end the characters in 20.
Brad: You're battling God & battling God & you have this epic situation going on through the first 3/4 of the show & then what? You send off Dean in act 4? That just felt wrong. Eugenie: We had this obligation, it was really mandatory, that we tie up the mythic narrative and leave the final episode for the emotional resolution. I [was] more on the side of not wanting to best God. To have God change to be more like his creations. So there were philosophical arguments, but we always knew God's resolution was going to be a big ticket item.
Jensen: We'd started day 1 of the 2nd to last episode, 19. We were 1 day down on that episode & we were just about to start our 2nd day & we got the call that morning that we were not going to be coming in that day.
Jensen: So we figured ok, we'll figure out protocol, figure out what we need to do, & we'll just regroup, come back on Monday. As that day progressed, it was like- this looks like more of an apocalypse that is ascending upon us than just a bad cold.
They pulled the plug & they said everybody go home.
Singer: Fortunately, we got assurance from both the studio & the network that one way or another we were gonna finish the series. That was comforting to us, but we didn't know when we were going to go back.
Eugenie: We didn't know what we were going back to... if this was the last time we would ever see the set. There was no plan. It was just get out of dodge. Dabb: When it first happened, we thought it would be a couple of weeks, maybe a month.
I had conversations w/WB where they expected everyone to be back shooting in June & then things got worse & pushed & pushed.
Eugenie: Slowly as we settled into that 4 or 5 month period, discussions were going on w/the studio, & the networks, & the actors. We knew there would be restrictions on what we were allowed to shoot, but finally, the mechanics were figured out.
Singer: So they were ready to go pretty quickly, shooting in Van, where covid wasn't quite as virulent as it was [in LA].
Dabb: We were one of the first shows, one of the first WB shows to start back up. So in a way, we were kinda a guinea pig. But, in being that, I think everyone took it really seriously. We had 0 positive tests. Crew members weren't going out on the weekends.
They were like look, if I get sick, it hurts the whole show. That speaks to the family culture up there, where we've had so much of our crew for so long. Where J2 & Singer provide such great leadership.
Singer: When I was in prep for 20, I was basically in the office but couldn't go to the set. It was very odd for me not to be able to go to the set while I was in prep.
Everybody just hung in there & did what they were supposed to do.
Brad: Then we were faced with the dilemma of having to rewrite a lot of the stuff bc of the pandemic bc of the limitations that we knew were going to come on the production.
Jensen: We were gearing up for, not only the end of that season, but the end of the series. There was a lot of big, big things written-packed- into those last two scripts.
Jared: At first, it was supposed to be a lot of our old cast from prior seasons in a Roadhouse with Kansas.
Everybody had already agreed. Kansas was going to be in Van. We were going to have dad there & mom there. Just probably 20 or 30 different actors & actresses who had been a part of the SPN's canon over the last 15 & a half years.
Jensen: It was scheduled to be the last day that we were going to film, so it was almost like rolling right into a nice wrap party on camera.
Brad: The idea of flying a boatload of ppl up there to quarantine for 2 weeks so they could shoot for a day was making less & less sense.
Eugenie: How do we make this work? And while you're doing that, you also don't want to sacrifice the heart and soul of the project.
So we came up with a reduced, much more intimate ending. It has been replaced by something equally magical & rewarding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Singer: I felt an enormous responsibility in directing the finale of a show that's been on for 15 years. Andrew, when he saw the cut, he said some really nice things to me as to, you know, the way I handled the material.
Jensen: The scenes that were filmed on our last day on the sound stages were filled with the most emotion of the final episode.
Singer: One of the really hard things was we're on another stage that wasn't the MoL stage & they started wrecking the MoL sets
They'd been working on this set and been apart of this- this family for just as long if not longer than the set's been around. I was like "it's really sad seeing this get taken down" and the other guy said, "I'm trying to hold back tears while I'm swinging this hammer."
Jared: As we start saying goodbye to characters, to locations, like it just seems like every day you would wake up and there would be some reason to cry.
Misha: This is a show ultimately about love, & empathy, & caring, & I think that Castiel embodies that.
Misha: Half the crew was crying. It was really such a sweet, supporting environment to be in for the demise of a character that, of course, for me is really important.
But it was so lovely to see that, you know, the folks that I'm- I'm working with were also there for Cas at that moment.
Alex: To get to work with these caliber people & see your friends every day is really special & is not something that often happens in this business for this long. It's been definitely a topsy turvy last couple weeks here with us and the crew.
Jared: Friday of the final full week was the big scene in the barn with the vampires where Dean suffers his fate. They did the first two days with the entire stunt team & the young boy actors.
And then they cut it for Thursday night and they're like, okay, Friday, tomorrow, we’re starting the dialogue. Dean, you're on the post. Sam, you just cut off the last vampire's head.
That was the scene- that was where Supernatural was really encapsulated.
Jensen: And then the next week we kind of had this- on the road encore get together filmmaking scenario that felt more like we made it & it was more pats on the back as opposed to tearful goodbyes.
Dabb: In a weird way you can look at the 15 seasons is like Sam & Dean's emotional evolution. You know instead of therapy, they kill vampires, but other than that it's kind of the same & brings them both to a very good place. And a place where they can, as the song says, you know, lay their weary head to rest.
This felt like the most honest & emotionally fulfilling episode for these characters to us. Jared: I got thinking about how Supernatural started & how the majority of times how I thought it should end. It started with Sam & Dean Winchester. I think it's proper that it ended with Sam & Dean Winchester together again.
Jensen: When the cameras stop rolling & Bob yelled, “Cut!” and Bob yelled, “That’s a series wrap on Supernatural.” There was- a there was a loud cheer that echoed through that canyon we were filming in. I will- I will happily say that there were hugs that happened and that needed to happen. Those are people that I spent not just years with, but so much time with- it's like brothers in arms and so to put it to bed the way that we did felt really good and then felt good to hug some people, I'll tell you that much. Singer: I thanked everyone, but I wanted to really thank people who had been with us from the beginning and as I looked around, there were so many people who had been there from the beginning.
We really were a family. I always say about this show is one of the reasons that it was a success and is that it was not only about the Winchester family, but it was about the Supernatural family.
Jared: So now that's all said and done, I guess I can look back at it and just be proud that I helped this show carry on and I'm really proud of the blood, sweat, and tears that I put in, and I feel like- I feel like that sacrifice was also maybe one of the things I learned from Sam, you know? Sam had to sacrifice a lot. So, I'm honored and flattered and grateful that I got to be a part of that journey.
Dabb: You're never going to have another show like this. You're never gonna have another experience like this. For a lot of different reasons, from how long it ran, from the family that the show became, from the amazing fans that we have. [Footage of us] From the emotional investment people can put in over 15 years of their lives.
Some started watching this when they were in high school, when they were 15, they're 30 now, they might have kids. That's their- that's like half their life. They've been with this show. You're not gonna have that again. Shows just aren’t gonna run this long, especially genre shows, but I don't know that I'm ever gonna do anything else in my career that I'm gonna be more proud of than having been involved in this show.
Jared: The things that stick out are just how important it is to keep putting one foot in front of the other. And keep on working and wake up every day and treat it like it could be your last and- and if you make it out the other side, you'll be happy and proud of what you did.
Jensen: The crew had packed up, they had cleared the bridge, and they were all starting to, you know, load their trucks and get moving. And Jared and I just kind of hung back, and we just took a moment. I looked at him and I said, “I’m proud of us, man. I'm proud of what we've done.”
We know that that's the collective we, that is everyone that is involved, that is- you know from the top down. You know, for our portion, for what we contributed to this monster of the show, he and I reflected on that, and still able to see and smell the roses.

Happy Birthday Danneel Ackles!
It’s Danneel Ackles’ birthday, so we thought for our continuing celebration of Supernatural Spring Break week, this was a good time to both wish her a happy birthday and share the rather amusing story of one of our first times meeting her.
There have been a few memorable times since, including the party celebrating ‘Supernatural Day’ in Austin with Mayor Adler, which was just plain fun and an opportunity for some real conversation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I’ll be forever touched that Danneel wanted a copy of Family Don’t End With Blood (and how incredulous she was that Jensen actually had a chapter in it!) and that she has read our other books too.
Tumblr media
The actual first time we met Danneel was a long time ago – at the after party following the premiere of indie movie Ten Inch Hero, which was at a club in LA back in, I think 2008. We all left the premiere and walked over to the club, invited by director David Mackay – the cast and the audience all together.
We had a lovely little chat with Danneel there about the film, met screenwriter Betsy Morris who’s still a friend today, and asked actor Matt Barr (now of Walker) to watch the rest room door while I in desperation used the men’s room because there was a huge line at the women’s. (He was lovely about it and it makes me laugh now every time I see him as Hoyt).
Tumblr media
It was a momentous party, what can I say?  After that, my co-author Kathy and I interviewed David over a three hour brunch in Vancouver for the first book we were working on, and mentioned that we’d love to chat with Danneel  too. To be honest, we didn’t really think that would happen. But a few months later, while we were in LA for the Supernatural convention, we got a call from David.
I’ll let some excerpts from our second book, Fangasm! Supernatural Fangirls, take it from here…
Tumblr media
… he let us know that Danneel Harris had actually agreed to an interview too. This prompted some hyperventilating and a rush of euphoria that left us grinning like fools. Jensen Ackles’s girlfriend was going to meet with us? Really? David had given Lynn’s cell phone number to Danneel so that she could call us tomorrow, the same day the boys came back to town. SWEET.
Given the pattern of the weekend so far—great things happening and then going horribly wrong—we should have known what was coming.
[On the Sunday of the convention, while everyone was in a fever pitch of excitement over Jared and Jensen being there] Lynn was obsessively checking her phone. “Noooo!!” she gasped. It was the plaintive moan of a beast in distress.
Kathy assumed that Lynn was passing a gallstone from the sound of it.
“No reception!” Lynn said, wide-eyed.
For Kathy, who hates phones (really, what doesn’t Kathy hate?) this didn’t seem like a big deal. The world really is too connected anyway. An hour out of cell phone reception seemed like a welcome respite, an opportunity just to enjoy the moment.
Lynn wasn’t as philosophical. “What if Danneel calls?”
Kathy honestly didn’t hold out much hope that this would actually happen—a yellow on the threat scale at most—so she wasn’t concerned.
Lynn was taking up her slack by flailing around, banging buttons on her phone as if somehow this would jolt it into action. “How can there be no cell phone reception in LA??”
Lynn had a point. We’re reasonably certain that there is cell phone reception in the Arctic Circle, but there was not a bar to be had in a hotel in LA. LA!! The town where everyone’s people are calling everyone else’s people, where iPhones are accessorized to coordinate with the day’s outfits, where a missed call can ruin a career. Jared and Jensen distracted Lynn for the duration of their time onstage, but as soon as it was over Lynn made a bee line for Jared’s girlfriend, Sandy (the woman sitting in front, wearing a hoodie so no one would recognize her—except Lynn apparently). Lynn wildly explained our dilemma to the stunned and probably scared actress. It was a good thing the Men With No Necks (MWNN) were only being paid to guard “the boys” or Lynn would have been face down on the carpet.
While Lynn was doing this, Kathy was pretending that she did not know Lynn.
Sandy was sympathetic, but didn’t know if she’d even see Danneel. Lynn thanked her for the sympathy and moved on to the next person who might be able to help. She attempted to enlist convention photographer Lizz, to no avail, and finally Creation owner Adam.
“I’ll try Lynn,” he said, sounding slightly exasperated. “But I’m kinda running an entire convention here.”
Thwarted again, Lynn pulled out all the stops. During her Jensen photo op, she stopped everything to explain the situation to Jensen himself.
“Hi, Jensen,” Lynn said, hoping that her voice wasn’t sounding too shaky. “We have an interview set up with Danneel today for the book we’re writing on fandom, and she’s supposed to call us, but I don’t have any reception on my phone, so I’m afraid she won’t be able to.”
The photo-op process screeched to a halt, and the room fell silent. Photo ops, you see, are not a place for conversation. They are highly valued by fans, who pay top dollar for the privilege of standing next to a celebrity, and they are relentlessly organized. The entire experience lasts about twenty seconds, and during that time you’re expected to say hello to the celebrity, smile, perhaps get an arm around your back or lean into said celebrity’s very firm bicep, and then move the hell out of the way and let the next person crowd in for the next picture. The photo ops allow no room for deviation. So when deviation happens, no one is very happy. The photographer wasn’t happy. The other fans weren’t happy. And the MWNN looked ready to move into swift and potentially lethal action.
Not that any of this stopped Lynn. “Can you put us in touch with her?” she continued, oblivious to the threatening stares all around her.
“Oh right, the interview,” Jensen said.
Lynn just nodded, though inside she was stuck on “OMG Jensen knows about our interview and our book, ohmygodohmygod.”
“Maybe she can email you,” Jensen continued. Then the conversation abruptly ended as Lynn was grabbed unceremoniously by the back of the neck and “escorted” from the photo-op room. Uh oh. She hadn’t experienced that feeling since being a two-year-old caught trying to get away with her baby brother’s coveted teddy bear. Lynn was most definitely in trouble—and even worse, she’d made no progress in getting in touch with Danneel, who didn’t even have our email address!
Lynn, ever the intrepid researcher, was not deterred. She thanked the Man with No Neck for his assistance and got right back in line for her next photo op, the “sandwich” photo (as in sandwiched between Jared and Jensen, which is vaguely dirty and thus very popular). As Lynn walked up, Jensen immediately tried to continue their conversation.
“So do you want to . . .” he began, while Jared looked confused. After all, the celebrities know the no talking rule as well as the fans.
Lynn held up a hand defensively. “Shh, I’m not talking to you. I totally got in trouble for it before,” she added, as the MWNN hovered threateningly.
Jensen laughed. “I got in trouble too,” he protested.
We doubt the MWNN were involved.
“Can Danneel get us her email?” Lynn managed as she was once again “encouraged” to leave the room as quickly as possible.
There was no time for an answer. Damn. Thwarted again. We were disappointed, but Lynn was relieved that she wasn’t escorted out of the entire con (the specter of the Flying Fangirl from Asylum still looms large at these events after all). We were still feeling like an interview with Danneel had been too good to be true anyway, so we tried to swallow our sadness and settled in to watch some of the other guests. Midway through the next panel, Lizz the photographer came out into the audience and passed us a note—from Danneel. It just said, “Send me an email, love danneel” and included her email address. Being a bit clueless about the popularity of smartphones in 2008, we figured this meant that she wanted us to get in touch with her later for an email interview. We were disappointed that we wouldn’t get to talk to her in person but incredibly excited that she’d given us her email address. We wandered back outside after the panel and tried not to be too miserable about the Danneel interview not happening that day. We were hanging out in the hallway chatting when photographer Lizz suddenly appeared and yanked us away in the middle of a sentence with an exasperated, “Come with me!” She led us down a small side hall.
We still weren’t entirely sure what was going on. Were we in trouble again? Had the MWNN decided to kick us out after all? Moments later, Danneel emerged from the side door, introducing herself with a smile. Somehow we managed to compose ourselves and smile back. Apparently Jensen had facilitated the interview after all! Danneel suggested that we all grab some coffee, so we headed upstairs to the hotel’s Starbucks, where Danneel insisted on treating.
Coffee in hand, we went back downstairs to start the interview. Danneel suggested that we go backstage to talk, and then came a weirdly symbolic moment. The very same Man with No Neck who had tossed Lynn unceremoniously out of the photo op for daring to speak to the talent now held back the curtain to the backstage area, solicitously helped Danneel and us step over the various wires and cables snaking across the floor, then closed the curtain behind us to seal our crossover. The irony wasn’t lost on us.
Kathy whipped out her trusty voice recorder just as she had done for every other interview we’ve conducted, turned it on, and . . . nothing. We were interviewing Jensen Ackles’s girlfriend and there was NOTHING. It wasn’t the batteries, which had been checked and rechecked. Kathy tried to maintain some semblance of professionalism. She would quietly figure out what was wrong and then she would just as quietly fix it. Deep breaths. Okay, the recorder was FULL. Not to worry. She excused herself, leaving a confused Lynn to entertain Danneel.
First the cell phone, now the voice recorder. Sunday turned out to be the day technology failed us. This, for Lynn, is an everyday occurrence. For Kathy not so much. She loves technology. She embraced the Internet years before it got pretty, she used a “portable” PC to write her doctoral dissertation (portability is of course a relative designation—relative to muscle mass and stamina), and she gets gleeful over the prospect of using every new toy her university has to offer. So yes, technology was her friend. Until it wasn’t.
While Kathy dashed upstairs to grab her laptop (wishing that she could grab a shot of tequila), Lynn attempted to keep up a conversation with Danneel without actually asking any of our carefully prepared interview questions. Without a recorder, there was no way she’d remember a damn thing that was said—so that left small talk as the only option. Luckily, Danneel and Lynn connected over their mutual love of writing, swapped college stories, and then Lynn (as always) managed to talk about her children. Danneel proved herself a great listener. Minutes went by—lots of them—and Lynn realized to her horror that Jensen and Jared were almost done with their autographs. After that, it was off to the airport—and we would lose our interviewee to her boyfriend as she left with Ackles. Where was Kathy???
Finally, shortly before Lynn had moved on to telling Danneel about her daughter’s first steps, Kathy returned and hurriedly tried to download everything onto the laptop while time quickly ran out. Come on!! All Kathy could focus on was how long it was taking for everything to download. That and the rising nausea that threatened to overtake her. Lynn, in desperation, started asking the interview questions (which, since they weren’t recorded, are lost to posterity—and to this book).
Suddenly Jared Padalecki walked by, meaning that autographs were over and people were getting ready to leave. We despaired of a recorded interview, heartbroken over the squandered opportunity. And then, quite unexpectedly, Jensen Ackles was standing there, smiling and saying hello. Even more improbably, he held a fluffy white dog in his arms. For a moment, Kathy was sure this was all part of the nightmare, because fandom at the time had no clue that Jensen even owned a dog. Icarus, however, was quite real—and quite fluffy. Icarus was almost as excited to see Jensen as we were—he’d apparently been whining backstage every time he heard his owner’s voice during the Q&A. We hugged Icarus while Jensen hugged Danneel and tried to talk her into riding with him to the airport. All Kathy heard in those words were that it was too late—she’d blown it.
Danneel, however, had other ideas. She blew Jensen off. No wait. This part can’t really be happening either. More of that dream? Kathy was contemplating poking herself with a sharp object, sticking her finger in a wall socket, anything to jar herself back into reality. This was surely just her own anxiety-ridden psyche toying with her. Must be. Who says goodbye to Jensen Ackles so that she can talk to US?? But Danneel really was excusing herself to say good-bye to Jensen, Icarus happily following, with assurances to us that she’d be right back to finish the interview. Kathy gathered together the few shreds of sanity she still had, sorted the problem, and figured out how to record directly onto the laptop.
Danneel returned, true to her word, and the interview finally began. We relocated to the “green room,” the cloistered room where the guests are confined between stage appearances. The green room, as we were well aware, is a private space—more or less a “No Fans Allowed” clubhouse for the celebrities. We immediately felt like imposters, occupying a space where we clearly shouldn’t be. The room offered a small banquet of food, a bit of which we gratefully sampled, and a table stacked full of fans’ gifts for “the boys.” The coolest of these was a hairdryer that looked exactly like Dean Winchester’s favorite gun—and yes, it actually worked!
Danneel, of course, was quite comfortable in the green room and turned out to be very good at making us comfortable as well. Lynn asked questions. Danneel answered. Kathy breathed. Everything was going to work out just fine. Somewhere the unicorns of fandom were neighing happily.
And then the laptop went dead.
Kathy again tried to be unobtrusive as she flailed around trying to find an outlet. No point in making a bigger fool of herself, right? Sooner or later, though, it became apparent that she was in need of assistance and everyone, including Danneel, was up and scouting for an outlet, crawling under tables and moving furniture to do so. Danneel, we decided, had the patience of a saint. She never lost her sense of humor either, shrugging off our apology for keeping her from accompanying Jensen to the airport by wryly noting that “Jared would have been in the limo anyway, it’s not like we could have made out on the way to the airport” and jumping up to knock on wood when we asked her about the possibility of marriage.
In the midst of all the sitcom mishaps we did manage to carry on an interview…
You can read the rest of our misadventures (and the interview itself) with Danneel in the book, but Kathy and I left that day with a respect and affection for Danneel that has never faded.
Jensen posted a photo of her plunging a clogged toilet today for her birthday, and I laughed because it makes it clear that she’s still as genuine as she was that day she got down on the floor and crawled around looking for an outlet right along with us.
I’ve had the opportunity to chat with Danneel several times since our hilarious interview, and I think most people who have run into her at the brewery would say this too – she’s not afraid to be real.
I’m so glad Danneel was able to be part of Supernatural as a cast member before it ended, but really she’s always been part of the SPN Family. Happy birthday, Danneel – thanks for keeping it real!
–Lynn

Black!Bella (New Moon edition)
wc: 1.7k
So the summer is here and Bella is on cloud 9
Without a doubt one of the best summers ever
When her leg healed up, Charlie took her hiking just like when she was little, or they’d go to La Push to look at the tidepools or they’d just go to Seattle to visit the aquarium
Sleepovers with Jessica and Angela where they’d stay up watching Studio Ghibli movies, binge watching the Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar YouTube channels, giving each other makeovers and giving each other recommendations about skin care products
Long conversations with Renee about college
Renee thinks Bella should try a school in New York
Charlie wants her to go an HBCU
She never told Charlie that she filled out applications for NYU and a school in Louisiana that she liked, and that she was expecting to hear back from them soon
Bella and Edward would spend hours at their favorite bookstore chain in Port Angeles looking through the summer releases
They went there so much they were offered membership cards where they’d get 15% off every purchase
Sleepovers with Alice where Bella would constantly ask her what she saw in that C*nfederate
Bella’s first few weeks of school fall around the same time as her birthday
She doesn’t have that many classes with Edward or Alice which she finds odd since Forks High is a small school
Bella’s birthday is pretty much canon
Renee gave her a gift box of her favorite Godiva chocolate, makeup and skincare products while Charlie got her a Nintendo Switch with a few games so they could play against each other on Mario Kart.
The birthday party is still the same and ends in disaster
Edward starts distancing himself from her, and so does Alice
Alice doesn’t wait for her outside her art class so they could walk to physics
Something is wrong, Bella can feel it in her bones even though Angela and Jessica tell her that it’s probably nothing
Bella is bracing for whatever is coming. Could it be Victoria seeking revenge and Edward doesn’t know how to tell her?
Something worse, much worse
Bella listens to him tell her that they have to leave Forks and it takes her a minute to realize that the Cullens have to leave town without her
“In the hospital, you said you’d stay!”
“As long as it was safe for you, and after what happened at the party, it’s clearly not safe for me to be around you, Bella.”
Edward kisses her on the forehead one last time before he leaves, probably forever
Charlie isn’t home from work so she just works on dinner in a daze with the television volume up as loud as she can stand it, NCIS blaring from the living room
Charlie confronts her when he finds out that the Cullens left town and that’s when she just cries, acknowledging it for the first time in hours
The following weeks after his departure are touch and go.
She goes weeks without getting her hair braided, and just keeps it in a bun/poof
Bella doesn’t wear makeup no matter how many times Charlie tries to entice her with the Vogue YouTube channel
“C’mon Bella, you love Saweetie,” Charlie said as if she were a toddler again, trying to get her to eat Cauliflower
It isn’t until Charlie calls her mom that she snaps out of it and Renee tells her what she needs to know
“Bella, I know you’re going through a hard time, but you have other things you need to be worrying about. It hurts, I know, but moping around ain’t gonna bring him back, and you’re not the first person to be dumped. You’re getting ready to graduate high school in less than a year, and you need to start thinking about your future.”
Renee had never spoken to her like that before but she realized her mom was right, she did need to start thinking about her plans for the future
After giving herself two more days to cry it out, Bella gets right back to business
She’s blasting Flo Milli while she gets ready for school, gets a new wardrobe and is now tutoring kids in school and La Push for some extra cash
Which is how she runs into Jacob again
She helps him with biology which turns into Charlie coming home and finding the two of them watching Guy's Grocery Games and arguing about which contestant they think is getting the boot next
Not that he’s complaining. He’s secretly hoping they’d get together
One Friday night in February, Bella invites him to the movies with a few friends from school
And it starts to go downhill when Jacob threatens Mike, who got sick halfway through the movie
Jacob reveals his feelings for Bella but she has to reject his advances
She loves Jacob, he’s been so sweet to her, but she cannot handle another relationship when she’s barely over the first one
When Bella calls him on Saturday morning to apologize, he doesn’t pick up the phone or answer any of her texts but she thinks nothing of it, chalking it up to him being sick
The next time she calls, she calls the house and Billy tells her Jacob is feeling better but that he’s not up for visitors, so she takes matters into her own hands
She spends the entire morning parked outside his house waiting for him
Bella doesn’t recognize him, he’s a lot bigger, his hair is shorter and his usually warm brown eyes look cold
Jacob tells her to go home and not to come back and Bella knows that Sam finally got him like he did Embry and he proceeds to tell her how he’s not good enough for her like the Cullens and alludes to the fact that he knows the Cullens’ secret
“You’ve been lying to everyone. Charlie… but you can’t lie to me, Bella. Go home. Or you’re gonna get hurt.”
She just stands there in the cold rain, getting soaked from head to toe, and she can’t tell if she’s crying or if it’s just the rain hitting her face
She has a strange dream involving a brown wolf the size of a horse, Jacob, and surprisingly, Edward
Bella confronts Jacob again, this time almost getting into it with Paul who turns into a wolf right in front her
Embry and Jared take her back to Sam’s house where she meets Emily
Bella and Emily get along well, and she finds out Emily is from the Makah tribe in Neah Bay, but she’s an elementary school math teacher’s assistant at the tribal school
She’s relieved when Jacob comes back to the house, safe and free of scratches and they walk along the beach and catch up
Bella is just happy that her friend is back and she vents about what’s really been bothering her: the encounter with Laurent, saying that Victoria is still looking for him
“You don’t have to worry about them. We took down the one with the locs easy enough.”
It doesn’t register for a minute so she just stands there, trying to make sense of it. “Y-you… killed Laurent?”
At this point, Bella is crying with tears of joy, her mascara smearing with tears and Jacob just holding her
Their friendship is back to normal in no time and pick up right where they left off
Bella has to remind Charlie, Angela and Jessica several times that she’s not dating Jacob
Not that she hasn’t thought about it
It would be so easy, and both of their dads would be happy, and she wouldn’t have to lie like she does with Charlie and any of her friends
One day they’re just driving around, goofing off when she sees a group of kids jumping from the cliff
She’s getting her phone out to dial 911 before Jake stops her and tells her that they’re just cliff diving
Jacob offers to take her sometime, maybe when it’s warmer out, promising they’ll start at the lower level
It’s dark when they pull up to her house and Bella starts to invite him in for dinner when she notices a familiar car parked down the street
Bella remembers everything about that car, the quiet engine as she sat in the back seat while his C*nfederate brother drove them to Phoenix, the feel of the leather seats as she slept.
They go in anyway, and Bella is surprised to see Alice sitting on the couch reading a magazine, but she needs Bella’s help because Edward is in trouble
The audacity. The sheer fucking audacity
“I haven’t heard from you in almost a year. You avoided me in the halls, you blocked my number and my email, but now when you reappear from thin air I’m supposed to help you? What do I get out of this?”
Alice insists that Edward needs Bella’s help, that she can’t do this without her
At this point Bella knows that Charlie put a tracking device on her phone, and she’s not going to risk it
Jacob begging her not to go, and she really doesn’t want to go either
Instead she writes a quick letter telling Edward not to do what he’s thinking of doing just because they’re not together, saying that she’s happy with how her life is and she gives it to Alice to pass along
Despite EVERYTHING that happened, she wants him to be safe, so Bella gives Alice the letter
“What does this mean? Would they come back?” Jacob asked after Alice had left.
Bella knows what would happen if all of the Cullens came back: more young Quileute kids turning into wolves, and she doesn’t want that to happen, but she can’t stop it from happening either
“I really have no clue, but that’s their decision, and I have no hand in that game.”
It takes three days before the Cullens return to Forks, and she’s facing Edward again one day in the woods behind her house
Bella just tells him everything she’s been feeling since he left and more
“There isn’t any hope for us, there probably never was, and we can’t pretend any of this never happened, Edward. You know that. We can’t go back to normal, because it wasn’t normal in the first place. You were right the first time, and I should’ve listened.”
It goes without saying that Bella is going to keep the secret, but she’s also going to move on with her life, and wants Edward to do the same

***MASTERLIST***
Tumblr media
"I don't know if this is such a great Idea Rob." You grumbled as you followed your best friend through the crowded sports bar in the middle of downtown Memphis, Tn.
You were all here this weekend for a convention, and you didn't know if it was a good Idea to be coming with Rob to meet one of his castmates for dinner and drinks tonight.
You weren't part of the SPN cast, and you weren't part of the crew. So you really felt out of place doing this. Sure you and Rob had been friends since you lived in LA across the hall from each other in shit whole apartments all those years ago, but you weren't famous by any means, and you didn't know if his famous friends would appreciate you tagging alone with them to dinner.
You were only a photographer, trying to get a job at one of the bigger publishing companies in LA.
"Oh It will be fine!" Rob assured you as the two of you slid into the very back booth across from each other, and the waitress hands you both a menu.
"What can I get the two of you tonight?" She asked as he pulled out her pad and pin to take your orders.
"Oh we're actually waiting on one more person." Rob said, but before he could get anything else out a voice boomed behind you, and your heart literally landed at your feet...
"Sorry I'm late, but I'll take whatever beer they are drinking sweetheart..." Jensen said, as he slid into the booth next to Rob, smiling at you a moment before turning his attention back to the weightress, who seemed pretty unfazed by her famous patriants..
Once your orders were placed and the weightress disappeared Rob turned to you with a smirk.
"Jensen this is y/n, a good friend of mine from LA I was telling you about yesterday, Y/n I'm sure you know Jensen.." Rob said, and Jensen smiled  kindly at you, making your heart jump into your throat...
"That's how I created the spn super couple that is Jensen Ackles and Y/n Y/L/N," Rob said over the microphone in front of him, the young girl that had asked the last question of how you and Jensen met each other giggled, and  looked around Jensen at Rob. Jensen staring at him with a smirk on his face...
"Well in all fairness Rob, you did introduce us, but I did all the hard work of actually getting y/n to go out with me.." Jensen said, teasing Rob as he leaned against the chair the fan was sitting in.
"Yeah, but don't let Jensen fool you guys, I had to talk him into asking her out in the first place.." Rob said, giving Jensen a look that made the whole giggle."Someone was too shy to ask y/n out even though they had been friends since I introduced them!" Rob said, leering at Jensen jokingly.
Rob wasn't wrong, and Jensen knew it, he'd been too shy to ask y/n out even though he'd been head over heels for her from the moment he'd laid eyes on her.
What Rob wasn't telling though you were thankful for, and that's what made him your best friend, because no matter how much he liked to brag about getting you two together, and no matter how much Jensen like to rile him up by saying it was all his handy work, you and Rob knew the truth, and the truth was that when Jensen finally did ask you out, you freaked right out, lied about having to go meet someone. running home to call Rob, and cry to the only one that knew the truth about how your last relationship ended.
Your ex had been controlling, and mentally abusive, and you hadn't had the guts to date anyone since you finally got the courage you needed to call things off with your ex, and you hadn't had the guts to try dating again. You were convinced that Rob was the only guy you could trust at that point, and even though you liked Jensen...A lot... You were fighting against demons from your past, and you didn't know if you could go through with it.
"Jensen's a great guy y/n, it took a lot of convincing for me to even get him to ask you out! Call that man and tell him you will go to dinner with him! He's probably freaking out in his trailer right now!" Rob scolded you, and you flinched a little at your own childish behavior.
"Rob... What if he's just like my ex, what if I get into another relationship, and this time it's worse, what if..."
"Y/N STOP! You and Jensen have been close since I dragged you out of your hotel room and into that sports bar to meet him. I did it because you guys would be perfect for each other, Jensen doesn't come without his share of scars as well... Just give him a chance, I promise you if you let him slip away from you, you will forever regret it... Let him fix what that douche bag did to you." Rob said, being the voice of reason you so desperately needed.
Your mind filtered back to the hurt, and confused look on the man that had become your friend when you just abruptly left after he asked you to go out to dinner with him tomorrow night. Your eyes flickered to your keys, and you took a deep breath.
You needed to go talk to him.
You couldn't let fear rule you, and Rob was right, you had it just as bad for Jensen as Rob said he had it for you, and if you let this chance with him slip away you'd spend the rest of your life regretting it and wondering what could have been if only you had just given Jensen a chance...
"Okay fine, I'm going to go talk to him, they should still be there doing that photo shoot for Entertainment Weekly... I need to do this in person... I'm scared I hurt his feelings when I just left, and I owe him more than that, I can't keep living in fear of what happened to me years ago, and Jensen is an amazing guy, he deserves to at least get a day, what could one date hurt right?" You said to Rob as you grabbed your keys and bag..
"Atta girl!"  Rob beamed over the phone....
That was three years ago, and you and Rob had kept your conversation a secret, even though Jensen did now know about your ex boyfriend and what he'd done to you, ever since you stepped into that sports bar with Rob and met Jensen you were a goner.
The first date turned into weekly date nights, long conversation on the phone, spending the weekend at one another's place. Long slow kisses, turned into nights of deep passion that you thought only existed in movies... You had fallen in love with him quickly, and you did have Rob to thank for that...
Strong arms wrapped around your middle and pulled you tight into their hold as Jensen's cologne surrounded you, you had been so wrapped up in your thoughts you hadn't even noticed they had exited the stage..
"Hey you." Jensen said, kissing your forehead as you leaned back against his solid chest...
"Hey you."
"Oh aren't you two just disgusting!" Jared said, grabbing your attention as he snapped a picture.
"AWW That's a cute one!!" Bri squealed looking at Jared's phone, as Jared posted it to twitter and tagged you and Jensen in it. Fan's already commenting on and gushing over the picture.
Rob's comment digged as soon as you got into the back of Clif's car and headed toward the hotel room for the night.. The one comment  that made Jensen giggle over your shoulder...
"Your Welcome..."
"We owe him a lot you know..." You tell him, leaning down on his shoulder. His arm wrapping around your shoulders...
"Yeah we do..” Jensen sat silently for a moment before laughing to himself.
“Would It be too big of an ass hole move to start calling him the matchmaker..."

The Orange Hour  by  Deeranger     The Winchesters have gone undercover in a prison while working on a case: Dean as an inmate, Sam as a correctional officer. This way they will be able to gather information from both sides of the bars. A smart move, right? Or so they think. Because on a seemingly peaceful evening a riot breaks out, and the brothers are suddenly forced to question themselves - but most of all each other. What is real and what is not? And just how far are they willing to go to keep each other alive?

Stop and Search   by JuniperLemon   Dean is trying to get out of town after a hunt when he is pulled over by Officer Wesson. Things go slightly unexpected when his hunting equipment is discovered. Unrelated wincest.
Two Sides Of The Same Coin  by ShadowBiscuit   Sam Winchester, police detective. He's trying to find the notorious serial killer who has been leaving mutilated bodies all around the city. The police hasn't been this baffled since the time of Jack the Ripper. This mystery killer is just simply impossible to catch...But Sam isn't one to back down from a challenge. So he hunts the monster that preys on the innocent, however this time, he's not sure if he wants to win.Not when the "Righteous Man" might be his own flesh and blood, his big brother.
Police Officer  Jensen or Jared
Tumblr media
The Balance (Constantine Fic) by storyspinner70   Jensen Ackles spent his days coughing up his lungs and killing demons, hoping to earn his way into heaven. Jared knew his sister didn't kill herself, no matter what the Church had to say, and a hateful exorcist with a mission and a chip on his shoulder may not be his first choice for a guide, but Jensen was going to help him – if he didn't die first. Trips to hell, lung cancer, a conniving archangel, and even the devil himself weren't going to stop Jared from getting his sister back where she truly belonged.
Creature Feature by Saone Something hungry is lurking in Lake Winchester.
Cuffs by TwoBoys2Love   Detective Ackles gets a new partner who may be a bit of a challenge. They have different views about everything. Ackles picks up some work on a new case that reveals his partner's secret and dredges up the past
I'm A Broken Man With Addictive Tendencies  by robin_writes  In Jared’s mind they were a new brand of a tale as old as time; Romeo and Juliet. From two different worlds, destined to be kept apart, and both of them too fucked in the head to survive what they end up doing to each other.Jared is a cop who is a dom and Jensen is an underage prostitute. Jared tries to tuck away his 'dom personality' but you can't hide yourself from yourself.
The Lion The Beast and The Beat by storyspinner70   It’s the typical story: boy goes through an ugly divorce, boy falls in love with the late night DJ that keeps him company on all his sleepless nights, boy saves DJ from his “number one fan”. The DJ is very grateful.
Mischief and Mayhem  by LoveThemWinchesters   Jared is a police officer.Jensen is his biker/bar owner husband of several years.Chaos ensues when something very important is lost.
Out of Silence  by Annie46fic When hardened, but lonely cop, Jensen Ackles meets Jared Padalecki in his family’s diner, he doesn’t realize that his life is about to change drastically. Jared is a complete innocent, deaf, mute and unable to communicate, he needs a friend. Can Jensen be that man?
Pure like Blood by Ephermeralk   They have a deal. It’s two years (730 days, 17,520 hours) before Jared turns eighteen. And if, by some miracle, Jensen’s not in prison and Jared’s not another Joe Doe in the morgue, they’ll both leave Denver and start a new life. But, until then, Jared’s still got work and Jensen’s still a cop who’s hell bent on putting away the rest of Jared’s clients.
Shades of Cool by tebtosca   Officer Ackles tries to keep the peace, but that Padalecki kid doesn't want to play nice.
Some Kind Of Hold On Me  by KatStark   Cop Jared comes home to his boyfriend, who has a special night in mind.
Speaking Softly by femmefatales   Jared Padalecki, a 27-year-old police officer with a psychology degree gets assigned a special case. His job is to do one thing and one thing only-- Get Jensen Ackles, a seventeen year old boy who's been badly abused, to talk.
Stray by  storyspinner70   Officer Jared Padalecki is on his way home, but catches one last call that's near him. He has no idea exactly how eighteen year old werecat Jensen Ackles is going to change his life, but sometimes the best things in your life are things you never saw coming.
Trust in me by Winmance It isn’t the innocence of the boy’s voice that was making such dirty sexual innuendos that made his blood run cold, it was the suggestive smirk he plastered onto his face while saying it. The way he leans too far forward on the chair, that it was impossible not to look obscene, and the large spread of his legs while he does so, almost inviting Jensen to look. When Jensen's best friend asks him to questionned the young prostitute he just came back with, Jensen has no idea that his life is about to change. Neither does Jared.

A Man On Fire - Chapter 78
“But..LA..I mean..it's..LA” she muttered, “Well, you've obviously only flash-visited LA..what is wrong with Los Angeles? it's warm, it's laidback, it's got me..it's my home” he tried to laugh it off but deep down he already knew what was wrong, he was just so scared that she was gonna say no. “Exactly! It's laidback, too laidback..the reason I once ended up here in New York is because it's so electric and it's got such a wild energy for..”, he immediately interrupted her “for your painting, you're scared your inspiration will leave you once you go to LA, but I think you forget that your inspiration is not a city, it's right here” he touched her head and let his finger drop to her chest, touching her heart “and here, it's not about where you are”. Harper knew she couldn't explain to him that it wasn't just her painting that was holding her back, it was about giving up everything she had fought so hard for her, her independence included, long time ago she had sworn she would no longer let a man, any man, dictate her life..what if it all went belly up? She refused to have to pull all her stuff out of a guy's house, she was much more comfortable with having her own spot, besides, they had been living together on the road for a while and where did they end up? Not exactly together!. She also knew that if she refused this, then she would lose him, they were just two hard-headed people, too hard-headed for each other probably. “Maybe you're right..but I just can't leave, I've got the situation with my father, Arno..my apartment..” she put her two cents in, even though she already knew it was a lost cause, “aren't you just looking for excuses? I just want to build up our relationship again, away from all the buzz and the crowd” he sputtered. “Oh and LA is a small town somewhere in the Midwest where there's no camera's, no buzz? come on Jay, it's the epicentre of everything and everyone who wants to be in the spotlight” she was getting worked up he could tell and decided to pull the plug for a bit “You know what? Let's talk about something else for now, just give it some thought, sleep on it maybe? that's all I'm asking” he leaned back a bit and studied her face that predicted stormy weather.
”Arno, how is he?” her heart pounded in her chest when she saw her brother's name appear on her phone just when they were about to leave and Jared was paying the bill at the counter. “He's awake..” the words rolled in her ear and had her a little dizzy, “what? He is?..oh god” was she happy, was she angry or was it still a whole lot of pent-up anger? Jared came walking up to their table, seeing her wobble on her feet when she got up, his arm wrapped just in time around her waist. “What's wrong? You ok?”, Harper looked up at him with the weirdest look in her eyes “My Dad..” fear put an iron fist around his heart as he looked at the phone in her hands, oh fuck this was THE call, “he's awake..Arno just called” she stammered in bewilderment. “Let's just go outside” he guided her to the exit, this was not the place to discuss something like this, too many eyes and ears about, the cold wind greeting them had her closing her eyes, “so he's gonna be alright? That's amazing news” he pulled her against his chest, this whole living together in LA was back on the table sooner than he had expected. “I don't know..I need to get to the hospital” her eyes were already scanning for a cab, “sure, come on let's go” he whistled and a cab instantly pulled to the curb. At the hospital, Arno was waiting at the entrance of the ward, “I have to warn you, Mama and the rest are here as well” his words made her stop in her tracks, what did she expect? Why was she actually here? She'd made a decision in the craziness of the moment. “If you want, we can go in and see him together” Arno took the hand of his nervous sister, “I don't know, I..” her breath got stuck in her throat when she saw her mother come out of a room and then walked straight up to her the minute she caught sight of her. “What is she doing here? She's the one who started all this” she yelled in Italian at her son, Jared didn't understand a word she was saying but from feeling Harper cringe he knew exactly what was going on. “Mrs. De Robiano” Jared tried but earned himself a deadly stare from Harper's mother “Get her out of here, Mr. Leto, I don't know her and I don't want to know her, she's not a part of this family, she never was or wanted to be so she has no reason to be here” her mother's voice returned to normal the minute she addressed him. “Mrs. De Robiano, she's your daughter and she always will be, I don't know how you can call yourself a mother if you keep on denying her just because she chose her own path, I..” he literally felt his blood boil. The accusations only made matters worse because her mother completely lost it and lashed out at her daughter, stomping her fists on her head and digging her long, perfectly manicured nails in Harper's neck “Mama, stop it, what are you doing?” Arno tried pushing her back while Jared had to prevent a shocked Harper from falling down. “Jared, get her out of here” Arno yelled still struggling to keep his mother back, Jared quickly gathered his thoughts and pulled Harper out of the warzone, she could barely keep up that's how fast he was running.
“Stop, please stop” she tried to catch her breath once they were outside again, her head was hurting so much, Jared stopped and sat her down on a bench “what the fuck..” his worried eyes as he checked on her injuries brought her back to reality. “You're bleeding, we should get back inside and have you checked out” he swallowed hard seeing the damage her mother's nails had done to his lover's throat, “I'm not going back in there..just..take me home, Jared, just take me home” she whispered. “But..” his protest fell on deaf ears, “help me up, will you?” she grabbed his hands so he could pull her back on her feet, instinctively she folded her arm around him, pushing herself against his side, he didn't say anything, knowing that all protest was futile and guided her to another waiting cab. “I'm so sorry, babe” what else could he say? If she was ok? Of course she wasn't, she didn't say anything, she just shrugged and kept staring through the side window, it was clear she was still processing what had just happened. The doorman at the hotel stared at them like he had seen a ghost “you are hurt, let me call you a doctor” he tried to stop them, but Harper just waved it away “no, it's ok, it's nothing” and kept walking trying to cover up the blood so the crowded lobby wouldn't see. When she finally walked in the room and walked past a mirror, she realized what had actually happened “Oh..” her fingers traced the tracks of the dried up blood before she plopped down on the couch. She just felt so cold all of a sudden and couldn't stop shivering, the aftershock coursing through her body he sat down next to her with a wet washcloth “let's get you cleaned up” the feel of the warm water against her skin made her jump. “It's ok, it's just water” he hissed seeing the damage that sorry excuse of a mother had done to her daughter's skin and body, “what the fuck, Jay..” she just didn't know what to say, her mind was still a haze. “I know..it was..she just went crazy..I just wasn't expecting her to go absolutely nuts” he stammered “one thing's for sure, I'm calling her tonight and I'm gonna tell her that I'm gonna sue her sorry ass”. Was he actually saying this about her mother? In all this mayhem with her parents, Jared had always been like Switzerland, trying to be neutral and trying to negotiate, but this time it seemed like his boiling point had been reached. “Don't..nothing you or I can say that's gonna change her or their mind..it's done, she's hurt me enough, this is where I cut the umbilical cord with them if there even was one..Daddy dearest is awake and on the mend, fine, so case closed..fuck them with their money and titles..I've got my own money and my own career and fuck that title”, all surprised about her relatively chill answer Jared stopped wiping her throat. “Really? Case closed, that's it? after they've driven you to hell and back?” he just couldn't believe what he was hearing, “I'm done, Jay..all my life I've been waiting for their approval and why? I've wasted so much time..I've wasted the biggest part of my life on them, but I refuse to waste my future on them, so this is where I draw the line..no more, it ends right here! From now on they are no longer part of my life and I refuse to waste another thought on them”. Her voice was icecold and completely void of any emotion which worried him because it was a side of her that he hadn't seen before, the contrast with the fireball he loved so much couldn't be any bigger, he didn't say anything, he just nodded while taking care of her injuries.
”Harper..sweetie..I'm so happy to see you..OMG, what happened? Your throat?” Charles stopped in his tracks when he saw the bandages around her throat, no matter how hard she tried to hide them with a scarf, they still came peeping through. “Charles..it's..nothing, just a little accident” her hand instinctively pulled the scarf a little higher, it was infuriating how she just tried to hide the damage that lunatic mother of hers had done to her, he had expected her to go absolutely ballistic and break stuff, just like the woman he knew and loved so much but in return he had a subdued, almost embarrassed little girl by his side. “OK..hey Jay..good to see you two together again” Charles greeted him too, “I owe you an apology Harper..I had no idea that things were that strained between your parents and you..I just got the news that your father is awake and will make an almost full recovery..” before he could continue, Harper cut him off “whatever Charles, let's not talk about it anymore, I'm done with talking about them”. Harper walked past him, heading for the few works that were still hanging there, even seeing the anger reflected in her own work, sent a shiver down her spine “they will be shipped out by the end of the week..it was an immense success, your career is only going to skyrocket from here on” he came standing next to her, there was an iciness to her demeanour that was quite unsettling. “You know what it's like in the art world, one minute you're the next big thing, the next you're a nobody again..anyway, let's talk money, shall we?” Bam! The tone was set, void of any emotion, “uhm..yes of course” Charles stammered, giving Jared a quizzical look, don't look at me, this all new to me as well. Harper was talking shop upstairs with Charles, while he strolled around the gallery, somehow her work hit him much more than it did the first time he seen it on display and that was already a blow to the stomach. It finally all clicked together, when a work of art hits you so hard then it's an extremely talented artist, weird to realize that you can fall even harder in love with the person you're already in a relationship with. Next to her, he was nobody at all, his own career didn't even matter seeing all this beauty and perfection, he was a nobody compared to such a talent, all that music and movies didn't mean a thing. He stopped in front of the centre piece the painting of her parents on their throne with their lips sown together and looked up at the mother figure, you deserve nothing better than being portrayed this way, Harper captured you both just the way you are, low life in high places.. Behind him, he heard Charles and Harper come down the stairs again “just think about it, alright, I can guarantee that if you keep me as your agent you'll be at the top in no time” he had trouble keeping up with her ferm tred. “I'll think about it” Harper closed her handbag, ignoring his pleads, he was getting on her nerves, where's Jay? Oh there..oh god, out of here, away from those atrocities hanging on the wall, “you ready?” she casually said to him heading for the door. “Uhmm, yeah..ok” Jared frowned looking at Charles who looked as puzzled as he was, “I'll call you tomorrow” he whispered at his friend before he hurried after her.

Part 1/Previous Part/Next Part
---
Dating Connor was better than what he thought it would be.
When Connor first asked him out, he was very scared. After Connor had convinced him that it wasn’t a prank and that he actually had a crush on Evan, he then had his own brain and Jared to worry about.
He constantly thought it was a prank, that Connor was going to make a fool of him so the attention of being a ‘freak’ and ‘weirdo’ would be taken off of him and put onto Evan. Everyone morning he expected to get a text that Connor changed his mind, or that he didn’t want to talk to Evan anymore because Evan was weird and a lot to handle. Evan wouldn’t have blamed him if he texted that. Hell, most days Evan can barely handle himself. It would just be selfish to expect Connor to be able to handle him.
Jared never really helped the situation either. Even though Jared was the one who pushed the two teens to get over their feelings and go on a date—though it wasn’t fun to learn that his friend (family friend, he quickly reminded himself) also pushed Connor into admitting to him that he liked Evan when Jared had given Connor no sense of security in the fact that he could trust Jared with that information—he loved to push Evan’s anxiety and make him imagine every scenario that Evan can think of by himself.
“God, please tell me if he stands you up,” Jared had told Evan about a week before their date. “I could use it as ammo against him if he ever decides to go after me again in the future.”
“The school will get a kick out of this when they find out,” he laughed as Evan had called him about what to wear, what to say, what to do. Of course, Jared didn’t give any helpful advice on this in the first place.
From Jared Kleinman: he may just want sex man
From Jared Kleinman: gotta be prepared ;)
Those texts did not help Evan in anyway. They were bad in themselves, but to receive them 20 minutes before Connor was supposed to pick him up sent Evan into an anxiety attack. When Connor picked him up, he had to help Evan calm down so that they could go on their date.
The first date was great. They didn’t do a lot, just went out to Á La Mode and walked around a nearby park. It was really close to what they did when they first started being friends and Evan was happy that it was calm. He didn’t like extravagant things, or being expected to act a certain way in certain places or restaurants. If they had gone to a restaurant, Evan would have been so scared about helping to pay or letting Connor pay by himself and it would have triggered another anxiety attack from the teen.
No, it was calm. Connor had even put some effort into his look, ditching his normal hoodie for a nice button up with a nice pair of jeans. Nothing fancy, he almost looked like how twenty percent of the boys at their school look like, but it was different. While they had walked around, he even asked to hold Evan’s hand. It took Evan about ten minutes to calm down from it.
But he liked it.
They went on two more dates after that one. They grew closer with each date, each text, each call, each ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’. They held hands whenever they were alone, hugged each other when they met up, and they had even cuddled once when Connor’s whole family was gone. Evan was mortified when Connor put an arm around his shoulders when they started the movie, but by the end of it he was tucked into Connor’s shoulder and curled up against his side with the other boy rubbing his arm in comforting motions.
Evan thought it was going great. There were some days that Connor was closed off, angry, and would lash out at Evan for just changing his tone slightly. Evan would be scared when it happened, would apologize nonstop. He had learned to just give Connor some time to cool down from the outburst before asking what was wrong, why he reacted the way he did. He had to ask or Connor would never bring it up and Evan is horrible at reading body language. If he asked, Connor would explain why he had a knee-jerk reaction to a slight change in something.
It was just things that they had to work on. Evan had to work on telling the truth, Connor had to work on apologizing. Evan had to work on his rambling when he wanted to avoid topics, Connor had to work on his knee-jerking reactions to little things that happen in his life. Neither of them are perfect, neither of them actually know what they are doing, but they know what to make better.
Neither Evan nor Connor told anyone around them that they were going on dates. Evan knew that his mom would be okay with it, but he also really didn’t want to sit down and have that conversation. She would be so happy that Evan had a friend, and now someone that could be his boyfriend, but if it didn’t work out she would be sad. She would try to comfort him but he would be able to tell that she was disappointed that he couldn’t keep the only relationship that he has had together.
Connor said he didn’t have anyone he wanted to tell. If he told his parents, that would also involve coming out and he thought that they would either think he is lying or that Evan was just a dealer that they had to separate his son from. Evan had asked if he would ever tell Zoe, but he never got an answer. Connor had turned away from him and coughed awkwardly, saying “Let’s just watch the movie”. He never pushed it again.
Evan was sure that they had it in the bag. He was sure.
Zoe seemed to have other ideas.
Evan was sitting against his locker during lunch, quietly reading a book that Connor had recommended to him. If Evan was honest, he would admit that he doesn’t read much. It has nothing to do with his anxiety, but he just believes watching movies or TV is easier than reading. Though, when Connor started telling him about this book he had read Sophomore year, his eyes lit up and a smile spread over his face, Evan knew he had to read it. It made Connor so happy that he felt it was something he needed to experience as well.
“Evan?” he heard a voice ask. Evan popped his head up to see Zoe standing in front of him. She didn’t look happy.
“Oh, uh, hi Zoe,” he stuttered out. “I’m sorry, were you there long? I didn’t mean to get so caught up in my reading.”
“You’re fine,” she snipped. Her tone had Evan flinching back into his locker, looking back down at his closed book. Evan heard Zoe let out a sigh. “Sorry, I just… I had a question for you.”
“O-Oh?” His hands immediately started sweating. Does she know about him and Connor? Is she going to ask if they are dating? What does Evan say? Connor hasn’t told her yet, at least he doesn’t think so. Should he lie? Tell the truth? What if she tells Connor’s parents? Or worse, his mom. God, he can’t have his mom know yet. He isn’t ready for her to know that. What happens if Connor’s parents find out? Will they have to break up? Will Connor’s parents let Evan come over anymore? Will they think that Evan made Connor gay?
Did Evan make Connor gay?
“You hang out with my brother, right?” she asked. Her arms were crossed over her chest. It looked like she was trying so hard to hide something. Was she angry? Sad? Evan honestly couldn’t tell.
“Y-Yeah. We hang out, uh, time to time?” Why did he end it like a question?
“Why?” Evan gave her a confused look.
“What do you mean?”
“No one hangs around my brother,” she snapped. “I’ve never seen anyone from the school willingly talk to him. So, what’s the reason? Is he paying you? Are you his drug dealer?”
“No!” Drug dealer? The only drugs Evan even owns are his anxiety meds, and he would rather die than sell them and suffer with panic attacks. “I don’t even smoke drugs!”
Zoe stared at Evan, gaze studying him where he sits on the floor. Evan looked down at his hands in an attempt to avoid her gaze, but it was no use. It was like he could feel her eyes burning through him, knowing every secret about him and ready to expose it to the world.
“I believe you,” she mumbled. Evan let out a breath of relief. “But why do you hang out with my brother?”
“Because he is my friend?” Evan didn’t know how to answer at this point. He wasn’t going to out himself to Zoe, but what was he supposed to do?
“Why?” she asked again, though she was more upset.
“B-because he is… uh, nice? He returned something of mine, and we just kept talking So, uh, we’re here.”
“You think my brother is nice?” Evan slowly nodded his head. Zoe let out a laugh. “Evan, my brother is the farthest from nice someone can get.”
“I-I really don’t think that’s true,” Evan mumbled.
“Look, Evan,” Zoe started. “You seem like a nice guy. You even seem like someone who looks for the good in everyone! But you won’t find it in my brother.”
“How—” Evan started, but Zoe interrupted him.
“Whatever side of himself he is showing you, it’s not the truth. I know I may be a shitty sister for saying this, but I want to make sure that you’re safe.”
Before Evan could question her any further, the bell rang, signaling to the duo that their lunch break was over. The hallways quickly started filling up with students and Evan jumped up from the ground, wanting to avoid being trapped between Zoe and his locker.
“I should, uh, go…” Evan mumbled.
“Yeah,” Zoe sighed. Evan grabbed his backpack and quickly joined the flow of students, thoughts spinning.
---
“And just like that, you left?” Connor asked.
It was Friday night, a few days after Zoe and Evan’s conversation. Connor had finally started feeling better so he immediately went over to Evan’s house after he got back from school. Evan didn’t mind. Even if he was afraid to admit it out loud, he had missed Connor, so spending some alone time with him was nice.
If only they didn’t have to talk about his sister and ruin the whole mood.
“Yeah,” Evan sighed. He and Connor were laying down on his bed with Evan laying his head on Connor’s collarbone. Evan was playing with the strings to Connor’s hoodie while Connor gently played with Evan’s hair.
“I can’t believe she thought that you were one of my drug dealers,” Connor scoffed. “ I mean, come on! You don’t even look like someone who has been around weed!”
“Hey! I could be a drug dealer if I wanted,” Evan huffed, lightly hitting Connor’s chest.
“Sure, babe,” Connor drawled sarcastically. “You would be the first person I would go to for a hit, you and all your blue polo and fucking khaki glory.” Evan shot a glare at Connor who just smiled back, fake innocence radiating from him.
“Meanie,” he mumbled, leaning back down to get comfy. Connor laughed at the weak attempt at an insult and Evan beamed. He loved hearing Connor laugh, and it was even better when he could feel it.
“Why was she so evident that I couldn’t be your friend?” Evan asked after a few minutes of silent. Connor tensed up, his hand stopping movement in Evan’s hair and Evan panicked. “You don’t have to answer! It’s fine, I really shouldn’t be asking questions like that—”
“Evan, it’s fine,” Connor interrupted. Evan stayed silent, waiting for Connor to gather his thoughts and continue.
With a deep breath, Connor started. “Well, she doesn’t like me. That much is obivous—so fucking obvious that the tension between the two of us is one of the main topic at breakfast every morning.” Connor let out a laugh, but Evan knew it wasn’t because he was happy or thought it was actually funny. Besides lashing out, humor is how Connor dealt with a lot of issues.
“Ever since I got into drugs, she would try to figure out who my dealers are, try to find a way to stop me. And yeah, I understand where she is coming from, because I also wouldn’t want to be around me when I’m high. I’m not the best person in general, and when I came down from my highs I get worse.”
“You’re a good person!” Evan interjected.
“That’s a conversation for another day,” Connor dodged. Evan almost stopped him again, thinking it was a conversation they should be having now, but he kept quiet. “I have gotten loud and sometimes violent when I came down from my highs, having to come to the realization of shitty I am and how shitty everything around me is, but she has accused me of things I know I would never do, no matter how high or pissed I am.”
Evan was almost afraid to ask. What would Zoe accuse him of?
“You can ask,” Connor assured. Evan gave him an anxious look, almost asking if he was sure that he could. This was common between the couple, with Evan trying to learn to fight past his anxiety and for Connor to let personal questions be asked.
“What has she said you’ve done?” Evan slowly asked. Connor stared up at the ceiling, preparing his answer. Evan grabbed his hand that rested on his head and brought it over his waist. He locked their fingers together and gave Connor’s hand a squeeze.
“She has said that I have threatened to kill her,” Connor choked out. “I know for sure that I haven’t because even if we aren’t on good terms, even if I did fucking hate her, I would never do that to her. I… still love her.”
Evan wanted to cry. Connor honestly talks from a place of hurt, a place of pain. Connor doesn’t have the best support system either, with his family wanting to see him as something that needs to be fixed and him lashing out against everything they do because of that.
Yes, Connor could get better help, turn away from the drugs and start going to therapy, but he doesn’t want to. Evan knows that is the first step to receiving help, or else you are just going to get worse. Did Zoe know that? Did she know that her brother is attempting to cope in his own way? Even if she didn’t, what would make her want to tell Connor and others these things.
“Why would she say that?” Evan asked.
“She hates me.” Connor shrugged his shoulders, attempting to seem nonchalant in this horrible situation. “And honestly? I don’t blame her. I’m a pretty shitty person.”
“No, you’re not,” Evan reiterated. Connor shrugged his shoulder again, brushing off Evan’s concern. Evan wasn’t going to fight it right now. “Have you tried talking to her?”
“She won’t listen. She couldn’t give less of a fuck about my apologies, or about my explanations and even my fucking mental health.”
“Does she know a lot?”
“She caught me trying to kill myself in the past,” he mumbled. Evan didn’t stay anything. What could he say? “So yeah, she knows that there is something fucked up. But she blames me for everything negative that happens.”
“She...there has been things, uh, said about her, right?” Evan mumbled. Connor took a deep breath, shaking his head.
“I’ve heard her say that people call her ‘the freaks brother’ or ‘sister of a shooter’.”
“That’s—” Evan stopped. He is aware that people compare Zoe and Connor all of the time. It was a constant whisper through the halls, people wondering what it was like for Zoe to be ‘the best Murphy’. Calling Zoe those names seems like a double edged way to get at Connor, hurting Zoe in the process.
“Yeah,” Connor agreed. “Everyone is shit. I’ve also heard her tell our mom that she is seen as the ‘freak’s sister’.”
“I’m sorry, Connor,” Evan whispered. “You shouldn’t have to go through that. You deserve so much more, you don’t deserve your sister doubting that you can make friends.”
Connor let out a deep breath. He let go of Evan’s hand and rolled over, pulling Evan closer to his chest.
“Don’t be sorry,” Connor mumbled. He placed a kiss on the top of Evan’s head. “It’s just...life. My family may be shit and our school even shittier, but that’s nothing new.”
Evan tucked his head into Connor’s chest, gripping his jacket with a tight grip. Connor rubbed Evan’s back in an attempt to comfort him.
Silence fell between the two boys as they thought over the conversation.

season three episode three
Let me start off by congratulating the producers – not you Ish – on this great episode. I finally feel like we’re back to THE SHOW. Not a weird Bachelor spin-off with minimal drama and blatantly horrible editing (see: Juliette’s grad party scene, where Chloe’s nails change color DURING THE PARTY.) Nope, we’re done with that and back to the good stuff, so on that note, let’s cut to the feeling.
Tumblr media
Come ON MTV it’s like you weren’t even trying. And yes, I created this, and no, I don’t have a life.
I know I’m going to like an episode when it starts off with the angelic sounds of my lord and savior, Ariana Grande. As break up with ur girlfriend, i’m bored plays, we zoom into Cara’s house. Personally, I’m hoping to see Victoria. Alas – it’s just Cara…and Garrett. God, Garrett STOP. Your ex-girlfriend has already outlined exactly how Cara is using you – since she did the exact same thing - and you’re still asking Cara on dates? This is so cringe. Where’s Victoria?!
Even though Garrett can’t score a date, Brandon can! Maybe instead of asking Cara to go look at babies, you should ask her to rollerblade, G Baby. As Amanda and Brandon glide around the Key, we learn that Brandon is celebrating his 24th birthday on Friday! And it’s “24, Like, Karat Gold Slash, Like, Pirate, Sort Of” themed, of course! He debates whether or not to invite Juliette while giving us viewers amazing helmet safety tips. Meanwhile, after Cara has removed G Baby from her property, she makes her way to Chloe’s to checkuppé on her. This is where we learn that Chloe has officially called the cops and filed a police report. I have a lot of opinions, but more on this later.
Tumblr media
Okay, something I haven’t touched on because I wish it wasn’t happening I haven’t had time is that Kelsey and Jared have sparked a little romance. If you don’t remember, while Kelsey was dating her random LA boyfriend, Jared was the 86th person she cheated on him with. I see this going well! I mean, it always works out when you leave someone you cheated on for the person you cheated with. Right? Plus, there’s Twisted Tea and mudding involved, so Kelsey can rest assured she’ll be going on sophisticated and expensive dates instead of the shitty and poor dates that Garrett used to take her on.
Tumblr media
FINALLY, the C + V scene I need and deserve. Donning a black one-piece that contrasts perfectly with her frozen fruity pink drink, Victoria is effortlessly exuding two polar opposite, chaotic energies. I’m getting “sassy”, but I’m also getting “I’ll fuck you up if you insult my 90’s Quiksilver skater shoes.” AKA, I’m getting Avril during the Girlfriend era. And I love it. As she floats next to Cara in the pool and shockingly proclaims that she’s not into guys, (what?!) I’m on my knees praying to God himself that she become a main cast member vis-à-vis a relationship with Cara. It’s Victoria’s show, and we’re all just living in it, baby. After Cara’s bizarre comment about how her parents punish her by locking her in their wine cellar (weird flex, but okay) Victoria giggles about how dumb Garrett is and we move on.
Tumblr media
We leave C and V for a Madisson and Kelsey reunion, but it’s not a happy one. Madisson delivers the unfortunate news that Chloe may be pressing charges. Oh no! I would be really upset by this, but I can’t focus on the content of Madisson’s words because of how she’s delivering them. Madisson, we fully understand that you’ve been to an acting class in LA because you won’t shuttupé about it, so you can stop over-enunciating everything that comes out of your mouth. Thanks!
After Kelsey tells Juliette about her impending stint in Florida prison, she gets understandably upset. Luckily, Boring Robby is there to teach Juliette how to apologize. Don’t say he never did anything for her! I want to point out that Kelsey truly has been redeeming herself this season. She’s been pretty level headed and a very good friend. If only Boring Robby could do the same… Later in the day, Kelsey confronts Robby about another thing Madisson spilled during their meetup. Apparently, while Juliette was fighting everyone last week, Boring Robby had the audacity to applaud her! How gauche. Boring Robby vehemently denies these claims, saying, “Always take the high road, because the low road is way too crowded,” and, “Silence is the best way to react to a fool, and happiness is the best revenge.” First of all, stop lying about things that were FILMED on national television. You’re now Boring Robby: The Liar. Second of all, why are you the human embodiment of my ninth grade Pinterest quotes board?
Grab your pillows and sleeping bags because we are heading to a SLUMBER PARTY! But before anyone can start braiding each other’s hair, Chloe begins to stir the pot, yet again. She delights in bringing up Brandon and Amanda’s new relationship right in front of Madisson. But to distract from the awkwardness, Amanda changes the subject to her missing phone. After the fight, she lost her phone and no one has been able to find it. She starts to give us a play-by-play analysis of why and how she thinks Boring Robby: The Liar stole it. I’m sorry, am I watching Joe Goldberg on You, or am I watching Amanda on Siesta Key?
Tumblr media
It’s the day of the BG’s bday, and I’m so excited to see everyone’s 24 Karat Gold Slash Like Pirate themed outfits! They don’t disappoint - G Baby and Victoria are even matching!! I’ve never screamed so loudly in my life. Garrett obviously refuses to drink, and we’re off to the party. But first, there’s one guest who needs to arrive.
Tumblr media
As Alex descends from his family’s PJ strapped with Louis luggage, a BEER, and fresh digs straight from the Siesta Key mall, I can feel the blood coming back into my body. I can feel individual atoms multiplying. I can feel my soul re-entering my empty, hollow frame. I feel exactly like Bella in the fourth Twilight novel, Breaking Dawn. After her half-human, half-vampire baby has eaten its way out of her uterine lining, Edward is forced to do the unthinkable: steal Bella’s mortal soul by turning her into a vampire so she has a shot to survive. (It’s the second time in the series that vampire Edward is forced to resist sucking all of Bella’s enticing blood to save her – that’s true love.) As she starts to respond to his venom, each and every one of her cells begins to freeze over and restore life to her body. Suddenly, she is awake. Her vision is sharp, her mind is clear, and she’s never looked better. And that’s EXACTLY how I felt as Alex exited his plane.
Tumblr media
I expect nothing less than for Alex to arrive at BG’s party with three underage Ukrainian mail-order brides. And he doesn’t disappoint. Unfortunately for the brides, he immediately begins discussing relationships with Cara. It’s fun to see Cara pride herself in not cheating on people for the past year. I kind of feel like that should be a given, but okay. As they’re undressing each other with their eyes talking, Garrett is having an interesting convo of his own. Classic Chloe starts stirring the pot AGAIN by telling Garrett that Cara is using him. Really Chloe? Cara is supposed to be your best friend. What’s more shocking is that VICTORIA starts to betray Cara as well. This causes an immediate fight between Carrett. They leave the party and start screaming at each other in the jungle. I’m so enraptured by the fight that I momentarily forget they’re at a themed party and fixate on Garrett’s outfit. Why am I watching Garrett Miller scream in a jungle dressed as a pirate? Oh, right. Anyways.
Tumblr media
Even though Cara and G Baby are scream fighting, the party continues to rage on. And everyone is makingoutté. Kelsey and Jared, Amanda and Brandon... something is in the air! It must be the pirate theme. #LetsGetScurvy. But one person isn’t feeling the love – Madisson. With Dad gone, she has no one to kish. Clearly bothered by watching her friend and ex-boyfriend eat each other’s faces, Madisson decides to give Brandon the sad news that Amanda is using him. Whether or not she is, Madisson has no right to give her opinion on the matter. And BG says exactly that. Good for him! Another person surprisingly not making out with someone is Alex. He’s too busy being an asshole to Kelsey and telling anyone who will listen that Boring Robby is bad news. Probably true, but literally no one can be worse than he is, except maybe Pauly Paul. In other news, WHERE IS PAUL.
Unfortunately, the next scene doesn’t involve Pauly or Victoria – just Chloe and Juliette. Juliette shows up after Chloe gets out of work to hopefully avoid jailtime hash things out. Now strap in because I’m about to explain exactly where I stand with the Chloe/Juliette drama, and if you aren’t completely focused, please take a 10mg Adderall, wait ten minutes, and check back in.
Okay, hopefully, you’ve taken amphetamines and can really dial in. Here goes: I realize that Chloe is a necessary evil - it’s an indisputable fact that there would be no show without her antics. No one is as shameless when it comes to talking shit and completely ruining their friendships for the sake of television. And for that, I deeply respect Chloe. (I realize that sounds sarcastic but I am dead serious. Thank you for taking one for the team, Chloe.) But I simply cannot stand when she gets what’s coming to her then plays the innocent victim. Obviously, violence is not cool, and Juliette should be embarrassed by her behavior. But Chloe knew exactly what the outcome of that conversation would be. She was banking on a wasted Juliette reacting horribly. With Chloe, you simply cannot win. Earlier in this episode, Chloe verbatim says to Madisson and Cara, “If the roles were reversed, I would have shown up at her house, apologizing.”
Tumblr media
Now cut to this scene, where Chloe verbatim says to Juliette (after Juliette shows up at her workplace) “I really don’t know why you’re here, so if you can please leave and leave me alone.”
Tumblr media
Juliette said it best herself – “Chloe is my best friend when I’m miserable. When I’m actually thriving…this type of stuff happens.” Let’s take a moment to analyze the similarities and differences of how Chloe and the rest of the cast handled Chloe’s altercation with Amanda during season one, in which Amanda broke Chloe’s nose and sent her to surgery. After sending Chloe to the hospital, Amanda justifies her actions by saying that Chloe started it first. So everyone is okay with Amanda decking Chloe. The fact is, Chloe started it first here, too. Chloe swatted at Juliette’s hand first. So why did everyone grab coffee with Amanda, but ostracize Juliette? Amanda even had a sit-down conversation with Chloe after her surgery expecting Chloe to apologize. The inconsistencies and hypocrisy present…I CANNOT.
Tumblr media
Chloe acts like everyone’s best friend to stay relevant and betrays them the second it benefits her. While I do agree that Juliette is only apologizing because she’s scared Chloe will press charges, I think people who talk shit, unfortunately, get hit, on occasion. Until next week!

Their Four (HDF Part 9)
Their Four (HDF Part 9)
Tumblr media
Summary- Addy pushes limits.
AN- A whole lotta strong Danneel in this.
mtg- meeting
tmrw- tomorrow
Word Count: Too long. Not sorry.
Whole Ackles Fam and Clif
January, 2017
“Sit,”  Clif told Addy.  She planted herself on the couch in the living room. “Tell her what happened,”  he had never drawn a line with her like this.  Clif was her buddy.  Not tonight.
“Hold on.  Clif, what are you still doing here?  Jensen is in LA,”  Danneel rubbed her temples.  “And again, I ask, what are you doing out at 1:30am, Addy?”
Clif answered first,  “I am flying out tomorrow, or today, I mean.  Jensen and Jared got an earlier flight.”  He gave her a reassuring look.
“Your turn, Addy.  Why did Clif bring you home from somewhere in the middle of the night?”  Danneel turned to her daughter who sat nervously on the couch.
“Umm.  I was hanging out with friends.”
“You reek of alcohol.  I can smell it from here, Addy.  You went against what your dad and I told you.  Now Clif’s night is ruined, and I will be getting zero sleep.”  The mom couldn’t react without getting angry with her daughter.  “Go to bed.  We will talk about this when I can think straight.”
“It’s still all about other people.  Clif, you, the babies.  What about me?  I am here too.  In case you forgot about your first kid.  Am I important anymore?”  Addy was getting loud.
“Addy, of course you are a part of this family too.  We have had to adjust to new schedules with the babies, I realize that, but that does not excuse what you did. This was not the way to get our attention appropriately.  Get your ass up to bed before I call Dad right now and interrupt his sleep too.  Go.”
Well, this sucks.
Addy gave no response as she exited and ascended the stairs to her room.
At 9:00am, Addy’s phone screamed at her.
“Hello?”
“WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?”
“Hi to you too, Dad.  I went out with friends, no big deal,” she gave a snarky response. “Aren’t you happy that I’m alive, at least? And I used my resources well. Cliffy is awesome.”
“Knock off the attitude and realize the magnitude of what you did.  Your mom told me she has it handled.  I believe her.  I’d be more scared of her than me.  I just wanted to call and let you know that you are on thin ice with both of us.  See you when I get home, Addison.”  He hung up.
“Good morning, Addy.” Danneel was eerily calm.
“Hi, Mom.”
“After breakfast we are going to talk.  Your food is on the table.  Fifteen minutes.”
She walked off to go take care of the babies with Addy’s grandma.
“Get over here.  Now.”  Danneel was commanding but not loud.
Addy walked from the sink back to the breakfast area.  Danneel motioned for her daughter to sit in the chair that she had just left.
“I don’t need to remind you how irresponsible your actions were last night, do I?”
“I was just having fun, Mom!  It was New Year’s!  I wanted to hang with friends!  What’s wrong with that?”  Addy was so tired of being the good kid.  Now was the time to start the teenage rebellion.
“Well, one, we explicitly told you no drinking just a few weeks ago because you are FOURTEEN.  Two, you snuck out and went to a party that you knew we wouldn’t approve of.  Three, you put yourself and Clif in danger on the ride home because many people drink and drive on New Year’s.
“But-”  Addy tried to get her view in.
“No.  You were irresponsible and do not seem to understand that you could have been hurt or hurt someone else because you were compromised. What you do has an impact on others.  You’re lucky your actions didn’t ruin anyone else’s night. Now, you will see what an impact you CAN have.  For the rest of your Christmas break, your time will be spent at home.”  Addy opened her mouth to protest, but Danneel didn’t give her the chance.  “You will help me with JJ and the babies, and your chores will be increased.”
“MOM!”
“Be quiet!”  Danneel was angry.  “I love you, but this is the dumbest thing you have ever done.  Your dad also asked me to have you write an essay on how you  will think the next time you are tempted to try this again.  He will let you know what he wants specifically.”
“This isn’t fair! He said he would let you handle it!”  Addy sassed.  She was threw her hands up in the air.
“What’s not fair is Clif having to make sure that you get home safely after you made a not-so-safe decision. His job is to worry about your dad’s safety, not to be on-call for you.  What’s not fair is you making others worry about your future choices because of this one that we are dealing with right now.  What’s not fair is not being able to trust you anymore.  You have a choice.  You can either be quiet and do what I say with respect, or you can be obnoxious and make it worse for yourself.  Which one do you want?”
“Ugh, fine.  I’ll do it,”  she huffed.
“Here is your to-do list for today.  You better get started.  We have a lot of stuff to get done.”
Danneel’s list for Addy was long.  Addy didn’t get to sit down all day.  She helped her mom and did chores that she didn’t even know existed.  Addy couldn’t wait to go to bed.  She soon realized that wasn’t possible yet.  Addy forgot she had to write the stupid essay.  She had received a text from her dad earlier that day.
Dad:
5 paragraphs, 4 sentences per paragraph, typed, double-spaced.  On my desk at 9am.
Addy:
Fine.
Addy knew she was being rude, but she really didn’t care.  Other than the fact that she didn’t want to extend her newfound prison-like life, she couldn’t care less about a lot of things.
Text from Jensen:
we need to chat with Addy-  she was completely out of line with me this morning.  I land at 1 tmrw.  family mtg after?
Danneel:
sounds good. get back soon. the teenager might listen to you better than me.
Jensen:
I’m sure you are doing just fine, but we can both talk to her later.  time for press stuff, gotta go.  love you.
Danneel knew it would only get harder before Addy understood their reasoning for her consequences.  The family as a whole needed to change their approach with her continuing to be selfish and bad-mannered.
Addy finished her essay that evening before she went to bed.  She was careful about making sure that it seemed like she had changed, but her anger grew.  Her essay was put on Jensen’s desk, and she went to sleep.  She assumed she would be able to sleep in the next day, but that was not the case.  Addy was woken up by JJ who needed a sippy cup.
Her little sister jumped on top of her. “Go away, JJ!  Go get Mom.”
Addy was not happy.
“Momma told me to ask you.  She said time to get up.  She busy wif Zeppy.”
“Ugh. Get off me.  I’ll be down in a minute.”
“No!  Now!  I firsty!  I waited for Momma, now I wait for you.  No.  I need water.”  JJ was getting frustrated.
“Get her water.  Now, please.” Danneel stuck her head in the door frame.  Addy plastered on a very obvious fake smile and walked with JJ downstairs.
“Here you go,” Addy said as she handed JJ a sippy cup with water.
“No!  I want Olaf cup!”  JJ did not want the one Addy tried to give her.
“Will you stop being a brat?!”  As soon as she said it, she wished she could take it back.  JJ’s eyes filled with tears, and she ran off.
Dang it.  Sorry, Mom.
“Mom!  Addy is a meanie butthead!”  JJ ran down the hallway.
Danneel picked up her middle daughter and walked into the kitchen.
“All she needed was water, and you couldn’t even do that without an attitude.  You will be on JJ Duty today instead of your chores I was going to give you.  If you continue your behavior, you will be in your room until your dad gets home.  And don’t forget that she is young. Teach her how to ask nicely instead of getting mad. Got it?”  Danneel put JJ down and handed her the Olaf sippy cup that Addy had filled, per JJ’s request.
“Okay.”  Addy was furious even though she gave in.
I have to watch the toddler?  This will not end well.
“I will be with the babies.  Unless JJ is dying, you are in charge of her.  I’ll write down her schedule. You need to learn that you can have a positive or negative effect on people.  Your choices influence others, bad, such as drinking, or good, like playing with your sister.  Go have a positive impact on JJ today.”
Not the reverse psychology crap.
“Come on, JJ.  Let’s get you dressed for the day.”
The two older siblings did many activities.  Both were worn out by lunch. JJ was put down for a nap, and Addy cleaned up the mess they had made during Barbie time. She was about to explode. Honestly, she didn’t know why she was acting the way she was, but she embraced this new version of herself. Addy was tired of the responsibility of being the example, perfect student, perfect child.
Jensen arrived home while JJ and the twins were sleeping. Addy was less than happy about his homecoming. He put his luggage away and then called a family meeting.
“Addy,” Jensen walked into the kitchen, “family room.”
She looked up at him and then put the dishes down. Addy dried her hands and walked out after him.
Not him too.
They all sat quietly with an awkward silence while everyone took their places.
“Addy, we have not seen an improvement of your attitude,” Danneel said.
“You were completely out of line with your texts and the way you have been interacting with others,” Jensen supported his wife.
“My attitude?! Mine?! What about you? Mom, you don’t spend time with me anymore. And Dad, you completely ignored me once you got home for hiatus! What happened to our father-daughter stuff? We didn’t go pick a tree, or watch movies, or even swap gag gifts this year!” Addy was seething. She stood up in anger.
“Addy! Sit. Down.” Danneel commanded.
“No. I’m done being perfect. I’m done with being the one everyone looks to. I saw an opportunity to have fun over break, so I took it.”
“Who in the hell says you have to be perfect? We don’t! You’re a kid, you make mistakes. So do we.”
“Have you been on the internet lately? I’m the daughter of the hottest couple. I live the dream life, apparently,” she sarcastically quoted social media.
“Oh, Addy. Please don’t read that stuff,” Jensen was starting to understand. “We know that it’s been hard on you. But I also told you we would figure it out, right?”
“Look how good that worked out,” Addy said with a huff under her breath.
Danneel responded with, “Baby, you gotta tell us. Use your sass for good and speak up. We know it’s been a crazy few weeks, but it will get better, I promise.”
“I miss you,” Addy almost broke into tears, referencing both her parents. She wanted to be acknowledged without them asking her to do something. Addy finally told them this. With only one tear shed, she shared that she just wanted to be validated.
“We’re sorry you felt ignored. That wasn’t fair,” Jensen reassured Addy.
“What you did was still not ok. You understand that, right?” Danneel restated her question from the previous few days.
“I know. I’m sorry,” stated Addy. She was excused to finish the dishes while her mom and dad talked.
The issues had been voiced. They still had to take care of something though.
“Your restrictions stand for the rest of today and tomorrow. The last few days of your vacation are yours though. Your dad may even spoil you a little,” Danneel winked at Addy.
“Really?” Addy was so surprised. “What about you, Mom? Can we get someone to watch the younger ones so I can have you too?”
“I’m sure we can figure something out, princess,” Jensen stood up from the couch and hugged his oldest. Danneel wasn’t far behind.

ahahaha it’s all g. and oh yeah paragraph breaks are 100% important I also will not read something without them tumblr was just adding like 5 line breaks between everything lol
yeah!! it’s cool too see how they will heal and get better (at least hopefully lol) with their current circumstances cause like they’ve all hurt other people in some way and of course forgiveness is not required at all and not everyone will be able to work together. there are fics that make the egg kind of like a common enemy for everyone on the server including c!dream which forces them to work together but I haven’t really seen one that does that concept well yet. in terms of redemption I think people tend to take it as including forgiveness which like the people hurt aren’t obligated to forgive everyone. it’s why I tend to dislike fics where c!tommy instantly forgives c!dream cause there’s more complexity to it than that which I think is fun to explore and like I think for any kind of positive change for those two characters will probably happen if they stay away from eachother.
also currently in the lore there’s just more conflict, even with c!puffy trying to help at least c!tommy we’ve got the egg (I’m an eggpire apologist what can I say) plus the las nevadas plot (I’m so excited for this) and the prison arc and it’s effects on c!dream, c!quackity and c!sam (god please cc!dream drop lore I beg TELL ME ABOUT THE COURTYARD) and the syndicate that had been pretty chill but now one of its members is locked in prison so that’s fun too (I hope I’m not forgetting any major plot point lol) This will definitely make the moving forward and healing a bit difficult
mmm yeah true age definitely makes a difference in how much flack people get but also how people handle it I’d say like for some younger people it’s 100% their first fandom and first online space so they’re pretty bad at handling themselves online. also while I dislike the “they’re a child” argument when it comes to the lore it’s interesting how much emphasis the fandom puts on the age of the characters
oohhh yes I find it sooo interesting how we determine the severity of crimes in our minds when it comes to media and real life!!!! I’ve been thinking about it for weeks in terms of fandom and real life cause I think it’s interesting and keep talking to people in my life about it completely randomly lmaooooo. like it’s intriguing (I got bored of the word interesting) how seriousness of crimes is determined in our minds and even in the law like it’s gotta do with its effect on other people I think that this would apply to the law as well. also yeah!! the whole “acceptable” crimes thing is super interesting to me cause when it comes to media murder is reduced in severity a lot and it’s cool to see the effect of that on character analysis cause like in real life murder is and should be deemed as a terrible crime. also when it comes to dsmp lore, especially cause of the minecraft mechanics applying real world rules such as criminal ones doesn’t always work. I would lowkey love to have that conversation about real world stuff adjkhsb
the povs 100% help. looking and c!techno for this I think is really interesting cause he definitely has his flaws too but the vast majority of cc!techno viewers would be considered c!techno apologists that can’t see his flaws. every other character too of course. this also why I think c!dream apologists tend to be better at character/lore analysis cause he doesn’t stream his pov. not always of course and I’ve definitely seen some c!dream apologist takes that I disagree with which just makes it all even more interesting honestly. main takeaway, cc!dream please drop lore it’s been months since that teaser
this is definitely the longest ask I’ve ever sent and I didn’t proof read it at all so sorry for that and any possible mistakes lol
honestly with the egg stuff and being the common enemy doesn’t really do it for me? I always joke that the author is c!dream ajdjkd because I think a common enemy wont fix things for the sever, they need to stop the cycle of revenge/abuse which is going to take a longass time because everyone is hurting so much. They syndacate has gotten closest to stopping that cycle out of everyone in the server which is fucking hilarious. I agree that forgiveness isn’t required but for both c!dream and c!tommy if one of them doesn’t walk away and/or apologize they’ll both keep ruminating on it forever. The fic that started this conversation was great because one of the part where c!tommy comes in and apologizes to c!dream. The closure and freedom it gave c!tommy to just fully walk away content with the last thing he said to c!dream is way way better than a future where c!dream just straight up dies. Here’s the thing, people are a lot more forgiving of the dead so while tommy might get freedom from that, he’d never get closure from it and I think it would continue to haunt him
Very excited for everyone and everything to go worse though keep it up dream smp make me hurt
I also feel like with fandoms there were a lot of unspoken rules that became cringe as the older fandoms grew up if that makes any sense. Like there were/are guidelines on how to be decent in fan spaces but a lot of them were unspoken and if you speak them, the people who would need it think it’s cringe. Sometimes I get secondhand embarrassment when I see those “fandom rules” posts but then I read it and it’s all really good advice?? It’s like hey don’t send death threats don’t harass people and just chillax we’re all here for fun
The “they’re a child” thing is interesting to me because while I also use it to excuse a lot of the dream smp minors, the age range I use “they’re just a kid” for is a lot more lenient than most. I add sap, niki, jack, and quackity to it as well as anyone in the 18 through 20 age range as well. Maybe this is because I’m 19 so I’m like “oh shit im still a kid the fuck”. Another side of this that I think is really funny is that in real life that’s 100% not how it works? Like there are jails for children minors aren’t just allowed to do whatever and let me tell you c!tommy would 1000% be in juvie right now. Minors on the dream smp have way more rights then minors in real life but sadly that also comes with way more responsibility and I think we should make c!tommy pay taxes
Murder in the dsmp vs real life is also really interesting because while they have more lives, we’ve seen with foolish & puffy that even taking away a first life is traumatic and cruel despite the apathy from everybody. And who it’s against is also a hige factor if someone makes w hige company’s life harder I’ll look away in the same way that people look away from c!tommy taking two of c!dream’s canon lives. The first life seems traumatic, and the second life is bad but more so because they now have to be careful. Taking a character’s last life would be one of the worst crimes in the universe I think. Instead of taking one life like how url stuff works, you’re taking 3 lives. A murderer killing one person vs killing multiple can dictate the sentence they get for sure, but also taking lives vs killing someone is also different on the dream smp so I dunno
C!Dream apologists certainly have to reach a lot more but it’s okay because I got long arms ig
Also despite me having time to proofread everything I am confident that I will have as many or more mistakes than you because Im jared 19 and also I somehow broke my autocorrect

Nobody’s Around Prt 4
Prompt: Your highschool is known to be haunted. When doing some homework after hours, you hear a voice telling you the answers.
Dedicated to: @sin-cerely-mi, who indirectly gave me the idea. @jared-kleinmen, @i-used-to-wear-the-fedora and @nyancheetosmusical, y’all might enjoy this too? Maybe?
DISCLAIMER: I don’t mean to villainise any character, but the story is from Connor’s POV, and he doesn’t have an exemplary relationship with his family. I think all of the characters are deveoped and have their own depths, but it doesn’t show the way I want it to, because of the way the story ended up.
Warnings (also in the tags): Smoking, cursing, references to self harm, references to suicide, depressive thoughts, intrusive thoughts
“Do you like your parents?”
Hansen asked out of the blue one day. They were a few months into their sessions, and Hansen finally felt brave enough to actually talk. Sure, he stammered, talked too fast or about random things, but that was just Hansen. Honsestly, the ghost was good company.
Connor looked up from the english assignment and made a face.
“Hell no. Helecoptor bastards who want a perfect son and not the waste of space they raised. They hate me, they hate each other, and they should break up.”
Hansen flinched. Connor wondered if he had been too blunt. Just like Hansen, he was learning how to talk to people, but Hansen just sighed.
“I just... I miss my mom? Sometimes? I just, wonder if she ever became a paralegal. She was training when I- you know.”
Connor hummed. Hansen talked about his mom sometimes, never his dad. Connor got the hint.
“Maybe... try reach out to your parents.”, Hansen gestured to himself. “I know you think that the bond is unmendable, but you never know when it’s gonna be too late.”
His family noticed something when his grades started spiking. The school emailed the reports home and Zoe got praise, like always. Connor slunk to his room, not bothering to stick around for the resulting screaming match. ‘Your grades are shit and so are you’ was a frequent one between him and Larry. When his mom tapped on his door, he almost turned her away. But then she would tell Larry, and he would come up. Connor didn’t want that.
“Come in.”
He called from the bed. Cynthia walked in with a copy of his report in hand, Connor braced himself for the quiet dissapointment, but she was... smiling?
“Hey honey, I just wanted to say that I’m so proud of you. Look at this!”
She held out his report. A in Calc, B in English, B in Musical Theory, C in Psycology, A in Art, A in Biology. He had Hansen to thank for that last one.
“Honey, these are great. I’m so happy to see you’re doing better.”
Connor had barely realised. Sure, he was doing his homework. The greenhouse sessions were actually forcing him to study, and Hansen just looked so sad when Connor talked about bailing the classes...
He was passing.
For the first time in two years, he was passing.
Cynthia carefully reached out, trying for a hug. Connor almost pulled away, but then folded into the embrace.
“You never know when it’s gonna be too late.”
He owed his mom this much.
“Do you have siblings?”
Evan looked up from the daffodils as Connor asked him. Evan shook his head.
“I know my dad has kids with his new wife, but I never met them, why?”
“I have a sister and I treat her like shit.”
Evan set his jaw, he had been growing bolder as they grew closer. Connor didn’t think he’ ever been so close to someone before, he had a feeling Evan felt the same.
“Well then, you should fix that, shouldn’t you?”
Connor kncked on Zoe’s door with a bottle of nail polish in one hand and a fistful of hairties in the other. He was nervous, So fucking nervous. He had worked this out with Evan the other day, but ut seemed so stupid now. Of course she wouldn’t want to-
Zoe opened the door.
“What do you want Connor?”
She sounded irritated. Abort, abort!
“This is yours.”
He held out the black nail polish, he had swiped it years ago, but could never bring himself to use it. It felt like steling from her. He had done enough.
Zoe took it, surprised.
“Yes it is... wait, did you steal it?”, Connor turned to walk away, unwilling to answer. “You have paint in your hair by the way.” She noticed. Connor froze.
This was it.
This was his chance.
He took a deep breath and turned around.
“It was in the way, I was painting.”, he gingerly held up the hairties, suddenly blushing. Why was this so hard? “Can you- Do you want to braid it for me?”
Connor stormed into the greenhouse with a scowl on his face. Evan was there to greet him, like always. He seemed to sense the stormclouds, but pressed onwards anyway.
“Connor?”
Stupid fucking-
He whirled on the blonde.
“Why the fuck did you do it? Why the fuck did you kill yourself?”
Connor couldn’t control himself.
“I fucking need you, and you don’t even exist. You make me so much better, but you’re-”
Connor growled, frustrated. Biting at his fingers in a desprate bid to get some of the frustration out. His parents had taken him on the skiing trip with the Harrises and his mom had smiled and said he could take a friend. Connor’s mind had flown to Evan, but then he had remembered.
He had been stuck at that resort for a week, angrily thinking about Evan and his soft voice and his big heart and thought
What a waste.
Evan was a waste. He shouldn’t be dead. He shoudl be out there, saving the rainforest or some shit. Not in a greenhouse in a highschool, spending the rest of forever growing plants no one looked at and helping Connor with his homework. What a waste.
Evan looked so small, so shocked. They didn’t talk about the fact that Evan had killed himself. It was tabboo between them, but Connor had stomped all over that like a bull in a china shop. He stormed right up to Evan.
“Why? You love trees and your mom and can name every plant species in here, why did you-”
Evan was crying.
Big, ugly tears rolling down his face.
“I don’t- I don’t know- I was so- so alone- and I had no frie- friends and everyone thought I was weird and-”
Evan dissolved into even larger sobs. Connor froze. This had not been the plan.
“Well... I’m your friend, aren’t I? And I don’t think you’re weird. Please stop crying.”
Evan kept wailing, but he leaned closer to Connor as he did. It was cold, but Connor could deal. Evan couldn’t phsically touch him, so he would give Evan whatever he could.
Connor stared across the table at his father.
“Connor.”
“Larry.”
The women of the house were out, leaving the boys alone. Eight months ago that would have been a recipie for disaster, now?
They had both prepared for this conversation, terrified of what the other was going to say. They looked at one another, wanting a sign. A hint. Not wanting to be the first one to make a move.
Eventaully, Connor broke.
“I have something to give you.”
Connor got up and went upstairs. He grabbed the baseball glove his dad had given him a few years back and went back down the stairs. He handed it to his dad.
“I’m never gonna be the son you wanted. I’m not into sports, I struggle to pay attention in class. I’m not gonna be a millionare.”
Larry nodded, looking down at the glove in his hands.
“But.. I am your son, in all my fucked up, angry glory. We don’t have to get along, but-”
Connor was cut off as his father caught him in a hug.
“I’m sorry.” Larry said, holding him tightly. “I’m sorry that I ever made you feel like you were less than enough. I only wanted what I thought was best and I failed and made it worse. Yu’ve tried so hard and done so well. I am so proud of you, Connor.”
Connor closed his eyes, a few stray tears slipping down his face.
“Thanks La- Thanks dad.”

broke inside
I had to redo it on a new side for reasons.
So, here it is. My first try. As mentioned, my english isn’t that good and this lil story here was more for me to work through something that happened recently. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a Jensen nor a Jared to help me through it, but I had someone else.
Warnings: triggerwarning? depression, a lil bit of fluff, worried Jensen, no pairing, friendship, but overall it’s very depressing though. Gif is not mine.
Tumblr media
“I am okay. I am fine. I am okay.”
You hold onto yourself, rocking back and forth, repeating the words over and over again. You didn’t know what happened. You were fine.  At least you think you were.
It was a typical day for you. You went to work. You did your job. You were good at what you did. Everyone came to you, when they needed help. They ask for your opinion, reached out to you, when they needed a second pair of eyes. And you did it, even when you struggled to keep your own work on bay. But you still helped them. It was in your nature.
It was how your mind and body worked.
Actually, when you think about it now, you realized the mistakes you did in the past. You weren’t fine, not at all. You just pushed the demons away, every fucking day. You fought against them and it tired you out. And the act you had to keep up took a toll on you as well.
“I am fine. I am okay. I am fine.”
You didn’t stop repeating these words. You desperately hold onto them, like they were your air. Your words were barely a whisper. Your mind was drifting back and forth between right now and the past days. Your mood shifted from high to low. It all started when you realized that your friend was lying to you. The one person you trusted the most. The one person you relied on the most. She backstabbed you without second thoughts and the fun part of this situation? She thought you didn’t see it coming or even recognized it. Oh hell, but you did. You recognized all the little things. How she pulled away from you. How she talked with another people about you. How she humiliated you in front of others. But you didn’t say anything. Why would you anyways? It didn’t matter. She was the one. The prom queen. You were just… you. And you were not enough. That’s what people have told you over the years. You. Are. Not. Enough.
“I am okay. I am fine. I am okay.” Your voice was horse from all the crying but you kept it up. Over and over again. “I am okay. I am fine. I am okay.”
“I think you’re not.”
A deep voice interjected your mantra and you let out a small scream. Bright green eyes looked at you worried. You let out a sob again and looked away. You felt embarrassed, you felt naked. You didn’t want anyone to see you like this. A freaking broken mess just scattered pieces of who you really are.
“Do you need help?” He sat down right next to you and you immediately slid a little bit away from him. He held his arms up and eyed you again. “Hey, I won’t hurt you. I’m just worried. “
“Why, Jensen? Why are you worried? Why would it matter to you anyways?”, you asked him, your sight blurry because of all the tears falling down your cheeks.
“Because you are my friend!” He took your hand in his, but you pulled away with all the strength you had. You didn’t want him to touch you.  “Y/N?”
“Just let me.” You let out a heart wrenching sob again. “Let me be. Go, go to Jared. Have some fun. Just let me stay here on my own. I know you don’t want to be here anyways. I am alone and I am okay with it.” There it was again. The lie you told yourself on a daily basis. You weren’t okay with being alone, but you were used to it.
“Are you serious? You are not alone, Y/N! Nobody is. What happened to you?” Jensen asked, not hiding that he wasn’t okay with the way you thought about yourself. “What did they do to you?”
“Well, that’s the thing”, you laughed sarcastically, “nothing. And that’s just it. They. Did. Nothing. They just started to pick on me a bit and I brushed it off. I thought it’s just a phase, you know? That everything will fall back into place. But it got worse. And I found myself doubting me. And to be honest I kinda found myself telling me that I deserve it.”
“Y/N…” Jensen started again, but you kept talking and ignored his words.
“And oh well, I kept the act up. I am a pretty good actress, I think. Maybe I should try out for a role on the show and then they can suck my imaginary dick and choke on it. I kept my walls up and fought away the demons. I didn’t answer their messages immediately. I didn’t write them on my own, when I hadn’t had to. I built this barrier between them and me. But somehow, it cracked, I think. I don’t know how and I seriously don’t know how I ended up here. Broken inside. Not feeling alive anymore and the worst thing? I can’t remember why I broke down in the first place, Jensen. I didn’t hear any song. I didn’t read anything which could have triggered it. It came out of nowhere and it scares the hell outta me. And I feel guilty for pulling you into this and burden you with all my dark thoughts, especially since I do know you have to keep your anxiety at bay as well. And then you have Jared, your brother not by blood but by choice and heart who needs you as well. Just forget it, okay Jensen?”
You got up and started walking. You had your arms around you, shivering and sobbing. You felt guilty for what you just did. Why did you tell him all the dark thoughts roaming around your mind?
“I am fine. I am okay. I am fine.” You started again.
“For fucks sake,y/n, WAIT!” Jensen yelled and when he caught up with you, he forced you to stop walking. He stood right in front of you, his hands on your shoulders. You were too scared to look up, afraid you would see hatred and disgust in his eyes and you had enough of this.
“Look at me, Y/N. I mean it. Look at me or I swear to god I will force you.” Jensen’s voice was hard and your heartbeat was rising every minute. “Y/N, please”, he begged you and you slowly raised your head, prepared to see disgust and rejection. When your y/e/c met his, you were taken aback.
A small tear found its way down his cheek and a rush of guilt went through you again. “Jensen, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…”
“Could you please shut up for a second and listen to me? Could you that for me? At least I deserve this after the whole speech you just gave me, Y/N.” He wiped away the tear and you shut your cakehole and bit your lip. “All the things you said? Lemme tell you something, sweetheart, they are bullshit.”
“But..”, you said, but Jensen looked at you with an intense stare. If you wouldn’t have known it better, you would thing you were literally “eyefucking” with him. That’s what they write down in the script, when Dean and Cas have an intense glare. You held your hands up in surrender, but immediately wrapped them around yourself again.
“You matter, Y/N and you are not alone. Yeah, maybe you were. In the past, you might have been alone. But things change. And you have changed. Screw those people who don’t appreciate who you really are. Fuck those who are trying to pull you down, just for the fun of it. You fucking matter, Y/N, to a lot of people. Think about it: what would JJ do, when you aren’t there at her birthday? She loves you, from the bottom of her heart. She would be devastated.”
“Playing the kid card. Smart move, Jay. Smart one”, you huffed and rolled your eyes. “You know I don’t like it when you pull the kidcard.”
“I’m not playing any cards y/n. I just want to let you know that you matter to people. To my daughters. To my son. To my wife. And most of all, you matter to me. I know you have a hard time believing it, but remember what I said once to you. All those years ago, back in Los Angeles…”, Jensen said and smiled at you.
You sighed. You remember exactly what he said all these years ago. But things have changed. And it took you off guard that Jensen remembered it anyways.
“What did I tell you, y/n?”, he asked again and took a step towards you.
“You said that I’m family, no matter what. You said that I can count on you. You said that no matter what, you would always have my back. But things have changed, Jensen. We aren’t those people anymore. We have changed… We don’t fool around anymore, don’t spent the night together. You are married now and have a beautiful wife and family. I don’t fit there anymore…”, you said.
“Yeah, we aren’t sleeping with each other anymore but that doesn’t change the way I feel about you. I still love you. You are my family. And I have your back. Believe it or not, I do. And if I have to? I would pull Dean out of the closet, hunt down these bitches and then we would have the time of our life!”, he said, laughing a bit what made you laugh. He pulled you into a hug and you laid your head down on his chest. His heartbeat calmed you down and the tears slowly stopped falling down your cheeks.
Jensen would always be your rock. He would always be the one person, who will bring the light in your dark. He was the one who knows you better than anyone else.
He was your best friend. And nothing could change that.
“Am I allowed to join? Is this a group hug thing? Hell, I don’t care, I need a hug.”
Jareds voice chirmed in and you felt a second pair of arms wrapping around you. You smiled. Not much, but a small smile was forming on your lips. This was your home. This was your family.
“Hey, y/n?” Jared whispered quietly.
“Hm?”
“Always keep fighting, okay? You are not alone and we have your back. No matter what.”
“Thanks, Jared”, you said in a broken whisper.
You felt loved and the feeling of being alone slowly faded away. When you looked into Jensen’s eyes, all you could see was love and even a little bit fear. “Remember what I said back in LA as well?”
“It’s okay to be scared, as long as it doesn’t take over. Don’t let the demons win.”
“Yeah. Don’t let the darkness eat you up. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel. And I promise you, I will drag your little ass through the darkness to the light”, Jensen laughed.
“And I will gladly help him”, Jared said.
“Thank you, guys.”
This wasn’t the first time you had broken down and it wouldn’t be the last. Hell, you also knew that it was just a matter of time that one of the men in front of you will break. Because, truth been told, everyone at some point struggles with life. As long as you have someone that has your back, you can keep going. They will pull you out.
Always.

Charles Band decided to go after the media market in a different way. He was beginning to make a picture called SWORDKILL in 1982, about a samurai who was frozen in ice, when he realized something. “I had watched all these foreign film representatives take my pictures, license my pictures, and basically go to Cannes and Mifed [the two major foreign film markets), rent an office and make sales, and make a huge commission on basically the fruits of my labor. I thought if I was going to have any control at all, I should go to the foreign marketplace and sell my own stuff, especially since over the years my pictures did very well for everyone. They were very commercial.
Tumblr media
“I got many letters from French distributors and Japanese distributors, congratulatory letters saying here’s a copy of our advertising campaign as a momento. So I kind of knew some of the players. I decided to take SWORDKILL, which was just about to shoot, and a couple of other pictures, which I was going to make later that year, and hang my shingle in some hotel room in Cannes and actually begin doing it myself.”
Band came up with the name Empire and the company was formed as Empire International, which, with the aid of Band’s promo reel, was also able to raise funds for upcoming, incomplete projects as well as SWORDKILL. In order to pre-sell domestic rights on an independent picture, one needed to guarantee a certain amount of “p and a” or prints and ads expenditure, so Band figured he ought to set up a modest U.S. theatrical distribution organization and begin to distribute these pictures in order to later sell them to the burgeoning U.S. video market.

Ghoulies (1984) Retrospective
Empire is widely perceived as the new American International Pictures, and you as the new Roger Corman. Is that a fair assessment? Charles Band: It’s funny, all these categories, independents, mini-majors, B movies, C movies, I don’t know. We can never be like AIP because the times are different. AIP started out making B pictures to fill double bills they were originally the second feature at a drive-in. That whole market is gone, and maybe the analogy here is that much of what we do fits into the video pipeline. Maybe that’s the new market that allows us to cover most of our downside, but I just feel that we’re here to make good movies. There weren’t too many AIP films, or Corman films, that were good movies. There were many of them, and there were some with all sorts of interesting cult appeal . Some launched careers of a few of today’s big stars. But in terms of track record, if you look at both bodies of work of those two distribution-production concerns, there aren’t too many good movies. I hope that by the time we’re into ’87, at least one out of every two or three of our pictures will be considered a well-made film, and that will last 10, 20, 30 years, forever.
In terms of budgets, Empire seems comparable to AIP. Charles Band: It ‘snot written anywhere that a good picture must cost a ton of money. You don’t have to spend $20 million on a film. We made a small picture last year called Re-Animator. and not only did it get good reviews , but it did well for us as far as its profitability. It’s a picture that cost just about a million dollars, and it had a lot of talent and quality. As we get better, our pictures will get better, and not necessarily more ex- pensive. Our aim is to make real good movies.
What happened with both AIP and Corman is that after they had discovered a talented director or star, they couldn’t hold on to him once the studios offered him work. Can you keep that from happening at Empire? Charles Band: Not only can we, we are. You can be real smart and draft a contract that commits people for two or three films, but the only thing that’s going to bring people back is how you work together. With a few exceptions, the other independents and studios have a very repressive atmosphere. It’s very tough to get pictures made there, and when they’re in the process of being made, rarely do you get to sit down with the studio head, or anyone who understands pictures, for that matter. Those people who are running the studios, for better or worse, are not filmmakers.

The Alchemist (1983) In 1955, young waitress Lenora (Lucinda Dooling) finds herself inexplicably driving down the California highway to an unknown destination. This doesn’t bode well for Cam (John Sanderford), the hitchhiker she picked up, because he has to endure her somnambulist driving. The duo eventually end up at a graveside in the woods and meet alchemist Aaron (Robert Ginty), who is just as shocked to see them as Lenora appears to be the reincarnation of his wife who was murdered nearly 100 years earlier.
The Alchemist was your first directorial effort, how did that come about? Charles Band: Well, I wasn’t the director when that film first started. The guy who was responsible for the trailers on VHS was producing the film at the time and after about three days of production, he called me up and said that the current director wasn’t working out and could I parachute in to help finish the film. The original director had shot about 2-3 days of work and I then finished about 6-7 days of shooting. I have no memory of the director.
The late Robert Ginty was the star of The Alchemist and at the time was coming off success with The Exterminator. What was he like to work with and what was his appeal as a leading man? Charles Band: I had no input in casting Ginty. He was already on board. What I do notice is that with a lot of leading men there is no simpatico in them. Ginty was a very human actor with simpatico and it was sad that he left us so soon. He did come across as an “Everyman” sort of guy.

Trancers (1984) Jack Deth (Tim Thomerson) is a police trooper in the year 2247 who has been hunting down Martin Whistler, a criminal mastermind who uses psychic powers to turn people into mindless “trancers” and carry out his orders. Deth can identify a tranced individual by scanning them with a special bracelet. All trancers appear as normal humans at first, but once triggered, they become savage killers with twisted features.
Before he can be caught, Whistler escapes back in time using a drug-induced time-traveling technique. Whistler’s consciousness leaves his body in 2247 and travels down his ancestral bloodline arriving in 1985 and taking over the body of an ancestor, a Los Angeles police detective named Weisling. Once Deth discovers what Whistler has done, he destroys Whistler’s body—effectively leaving him trapped in the past with no vessel to return to—and chases after him through time the same way. Deth ends up in the body of one of his ancestors: a journalist named Phil Dethton.
Tumblr media
With the help of Phil’s girlfriend—a punk rock girl named Leena (Helen Hunt)—Deth goes after Whistler, who has begun to “trance” other victims. Whistler plots to eliminate the future governing council members of Angel City (the future name of Los Angeles), who are being systematically wiped out of existence by Whistler’s murder spree of their own ancestors. Deth arrives too late to prevent most of the murders and can only safeguard Hap Ashby (Biff Manard), a washed-up former pro baseball player, who is the ancestor of the last surviving council member, Chairman Ashe (Anne Seymour).
Deth is given some high-tech equipment, which is sent to him in the past: his sidearm (which contains two hidden vials of time drugs to send him and Whistler back to the future), and a “long-second” wristwatch, which temporarily slows time, stretching one second to ten. The watch has only enough power for one use, but he later receives another watch to pull the same trick again.
youtube
During the end fight with Whistler, one of the drug vials in Jack’s gun breaks, leaving only one vial to get home. Jack is forced to make a choice: kill the innocent Weisling (who is possessed by the evil Whistler), or use the vial to send Whistler back to 2247, which would strand Jack in the present. Jack chooses to inject Weisling with the vial, saving the lieutenant’s life but condemning Whistler to an eternity without a body to return to. Jack then decides to remain with Leena in 1985, although observing him from the shadows is McNulty, his boss from the future, who has traveled down his own ancestral line, ending up in the body of a young girl.

Interview with actor Tim Thomerson
Tumblr media
Tell us about this journey of Jack Deth. Tim Thomerson: I got this role as a character named Rogue in Metalstorm (1983), and we started working, and that was my first time working with Charlie Band. I had a lot of fun with it, Charlie was fun to work with, and kind of left me alone, which I like. I don’t like a lot of direction. We had quite a lot of fun doing it and then this idea for TRANCERS came up. This is still Empire now, so fast forward to late 1984 early 1985. The FUTURE COP was the original title for TRANCERS, so I went to Danny (Bilson) and Paul (De Meo), and we had meetings together. They were fans of these Philip Marlowe type detective guys, so we were all in love with that genre, and I always liked Sam Spade, Humphrey Bogart, just a fan of that particular character. Charlie wanted to do this cop that comes from the future in LA today, meaning from the year, 20-something. So Charlie didn’t really care what we did with the character from what I remember, so Danny and Paul wrote up this guy Jack and so that’s how that was born. When the character transformed into the other body that was named Philip, it’s a tribute to Marlowe. That was Danny and Paul’s idea, to write it up like that, and for there to be some kind of dialogue and kind of the crispy kind of way of saying. You’ve seen that movie right?
Many, many times. Tim Thomerson: Yeah, so for what it is and for the time that it was shot, it’s a pretty classic B movie I think.
The opening of the film is great, the cross between the future and the past and that noir-like feeling is easy to get on board with. Tim Thomerson: I think it really had its own feeling about it. I thought that while we were shooting it, even though it’s a silly ass movie. But it just had a feeling, you know? Charlie was great to work with on set, and was funny, had a winning personality, and Helen was just a hilarious girl. She really is a funny chick. The performances were really good too; you can tell they got along.

The Dungeonmaster (1984) Paul Bradford (Jeffrey Byron) is a skilled computer programmer who lives with his girlfriend, Gwen (Leslie Wing), and “X-CaliBR8,” a quasi-sentient personal computer that Paul programmed and which he interacts with via a neural interface. Gwen is jealous of Paul’s unusually close relationship with X-CaliBR8, to whom Paul has given a female voice, and fears that their relationship will be destroyed by Paul’s reliance on X-CaliBR8 for his various day-to-day activities. One night, Paul and Gwen are both transported to a Hellish realm presided over by Mestema (Richard Moll), an ancient, demonic sorcerer who has spent millennia seeking a worthy opponent with whom to do battle. Having long defeated his enemies with magic, Mestema has become intrigued with technology, and wishes to pit his skills against Paul’s, with the winner claiming Gwen. Arming Paul with a portable version of X-CaliBR8 (which takes the form of a computerized wrist band), Mestema begins transporting Paul into a variety of scenarios in which he must defeat various opponents. Most of the challenges involve Paul using his X-CaliBR8 wristband to shoot people, monsters, and objects with laser beams. After Paul completes Mestema’s various challenges, the two engage in a final battle, which takes the form of a fist fight in which Paul kills Mestema by throwing him into a pit of lava. After Mestema dies, Paul and Gwen are transported back to their house, where Gwen expresses her acceptance of X-CaliBR8 and suggests that she and Paul get married.

David Allen on the stop-motion for the “Stone Canyon Giant” David Allen first became involved in directing an episode of Charles Band’s DUNGEONMASTER almost two years ago, as a test for working with Band on THE PRIMEVALS, a property they have in development together. Although Band had already directed his segment of the film, no clear story had been worked out. The film had been sold on the basis of its premise-a showcase of effects sequences-and it had to be delivered quickly. Band suggested doing a sequence which featured a large statue brought to life (as in JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS), and Allen agreed.
Allen spent two days on location, shooting mostly in continuity without storyboards, then three weeks, off-and-on, in the studio to do the effects. According to Allen, the finished segment is “heavily footnoted with explanations for why it didn’t turn out better. We’d do something and think it was okay and then get the shot back from the lab-but we’d already be working on a new shot. A couple of shots are okay, but there are so many below-par scenes. I wanted to go back on location almost a year after the original shooting and redo the first shot of the statue in Dynamation-a split-screen effect all on the original negative. A good first shot would have better set the stage.”
Allen would also have liked a chance to introduce the statue “more poetically, with music,” but he never had an opportunity to speak with the film’s composer, Richard Band. “A pause for mood and atmosphere would have given the sequence some intelligence, but in the time allotted I didn’t think of it.”
Tumblr media
Besides doing animation for his own segment, Allen provided two effects for other sequences of the film: for an exploding car, Allen took an explosion he had photographed years ago and superimposed it on the shot, for the conclusion of the film he provided a shot of the evil magician falling into a lava pit. “Band came up with that at the last minute–the film was written as it went along. I did it for a few hundred dollars, using a six-inch doll, some old cliffs I’d used long ago, and oatmeal. I didn’t think it would work, but with all the fire and smoke I put in there it came out, maybe not wonderful, but credible.”
Although dissatisfied with the final result, Allen nevertheless enjoyed the experience. “I learned a lot,” he said. “I got the camera where it needed to be. I enjoyed getting everything done in two days. I was scouting locations sometimes only twenty minutes ahead of the camera crew.”

Interview with Jeffrey (Paul) Byron
This was your second adventure with Band’s band; were you excited to be back in the B-movie saddle? Jeffrey Byron: Sure! I had a great time on METALSTORM and every actor likes to work. So doing a second movie right afterwards was great.
Seven chapters and seven directors Jeffrey Byron: Indeed. It was il fun and unique experience and was ahead of its time. It was a clever idea. It was like doing se ven separate films, which was very cool.
What was your favorite segment and why? Jeffrey Byron: That’s easy! The one that I wrote (SLASHER) about the serial killer. My older brother Steve Stafford directed it, and I was able to hire some close actor friends to be in it. It was a blast!  Being directed by my brother Steve was a great experience. He is a talented filmmaker and in some respects this segment inspired him to get more and more directing jobs Plus I got to hire some great actor friends to be in the segment I wrote. That was gratifying as well.
Do you have insight or back story as to the name change? Jeffrey Byron: I don’t recall how that happened. That was up to Charlie Band. He was a wiz at that kind of stuff. He came up with all the rates. I assume he changed the title because he got more traction with THE DUNGEONMASTER, because of the popularity of DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS
As in METALSTORM, you had to square off against Richard Moll, but this time as an ancient demon. Was he a more worthy nemesis this time round? Jeffrey Byron: Richard and I got to know each other on METALSTORM, so we had a warmer rapport on the second film. We had a perfectly good relationship on the first film, but we knew each other better by the time we did this film and he was a pro so it was a great experience
Any RAGEWAR trivia or lesser known facts you can share with us? Jeffrey Byron: All the scenes that were shot in my characters apartment..were actually shot in any actual apartment!
What was next for you after THE DUNGEON MASTER? Jeffrey Byron: Quite soon after I jumped into the soap opera world. They had been chasing me down for awhile and I finally agreed to do ONE LIFE TO LIVE. After I left that show. I went on to do ALL MY CHILDREN, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL and finally PORT CHARLES. I did other work in between but the soaps were my bread and butter.
The Dungeonmaster was a try-out of several different directors. Charles Band: “It was a fun idea. I’ve always done things a little differently and we had a number of directors at the time who all wanted to direct features. We were getting pretty prolific and it was exactly that. I think there were seven directors, if I’m not mistaken. There were more that we were actually looking at but seven wound up directing seven little chapters in this Dungeonmaster film. I would have to think real hard to remember who directed what, but that’s what happens. We made a strange little film.
“It’s actually a fun film to watch. Part of what low-budget films suffer from is you usually are relegated to one location because that’s all you can afford. Unless you are really adept at story-telling and casting, you need to make these movies much more character-driven. Dungeonmaster’s one of those films which diverts you with seven or eight different environments. If nothing else, it certainly looks colorful! It made a great trailer, that’s for sure.”
Savage Island (1985) Women who have been captured and sold as slave labor to a South American emerald mine hatch a plan for revolution and revenge.
Tumblr media
Empire seems very loyal to its people  given a few pictures, everybody gets to direct. Is that a deliberate policy? Charles Band: Definitely. It’s rare that talent is Just born overnight. It takes time and it’s crazy for a big company to gamble with its resources on a new director. If it turns out wrong, it makes no sense going and spending the time. It makes more sense to educate people here and pay for the tuition, so to speak. Some turn out to be wonderful and some take more time. I can’t think of one that we’ve worked with so far that hasn’t picked up the Empire banner and shown promise.
People like Brian Yuzna and Stuart Gordon, and other directors who have had good experiences with us and are now making their second or third film with us this year, find that our whole directive here is making movies. That’s where all our energy goes. We’re passionate about making movies. That makes their lives much easier because we can work well together. David Schmoeller just finished a picture for us called Crawlspace that turned out very well, and he has had several offers to go elsewhere to make pictures. Well, he has turned them down to make two more pictures back to back for us. I don’t know if the offers were for substantially more than what we’re paying him, I Just know that the experience on Crawlspace was real good for all of us. and good for him creatively. Once a script is approved and we know what we’re spending on a picture, we give the directors total free reign to make their movie.

Zone Troopers (1985) In Italy in World War II, four members, led by their grizzled sergeant (Tim Thomerson), of an American military patrol are lost behind enemy lines. They discovers an alien spaceship that has crash-landed in the woods, along with its crew. The alien pilot is dead, and one of the aliens has been captured by the Nazis, hampering efforts of the aliens to return home. A larger Nazi unit, with scientific and medical personnel, also investigate the crash and seek to capture the alien’s technology and use that to win the war. However, the aliens side with the Americans after the Nazi’s actions to their crewmember.
Another popular title was Zone Troopers. How did that come about and where did the concept come up? Charles Band: Well, I had Danny Bilson and Paul Le Meo, who wrote Trancers and the stars of that film Tim Thomerson and Art La Fleur on board. I also had a wonderful Production Designer and Art Director and it also gave me an opportunity to go back to Italy as I grew up there. Some people don’t realize that the likes of Crawlspace and Troll were, along with Zone Troopers, filmed in Italy rather than the USA. It was a great set-up for about three years as we got some good films made, but then things changed and the dollar and lira value changed, so it became difficult to continue to film there, but we are very proud of those films.

Zone Troopers was also directed by Danny Bilson, who had an interesting time of it. “We had a German army of Italian-speaking extras,” Bilson recalls. “We had to have these Nazi SS troops come across a meadow, and they looked like Girl Scouts. Trying to be Mr. Director, I went to show them how to do it. We’ve all played army when we were little kids, and you know how to do it, but when I was right in the middle of showing them, I slipped into this big pile of cow slop. Paul (De Meo) cried out helpfully, ‘But do you want them to fall in the cow shit?”’

“We had a lot of fun with the Italian prop men,” De Meo chimes in, “One of them came up to us and asked where he should put these two bottles of gin. We wondered what the bottles of gin were for and started looking through the script, thinking that maybe we forgot something. It turned out that somewhere in the script was a description that said two GIs are playing gin. Another time, a prop man bought a pineapple because he didn’t know that was a‘40’s term for a grenade.”
Bilson is very happy working for Empire. He calls it a secure environment that constantly provides an opportunity to work. He feels that the experience he and others are gaining will build confidence and lead to better-made films. Paul De Meo compares the working atmosphere with “almost being like working at Warner’s in the ’50’s. There are lots of people making lots of movies In all kinds of genres.” Bilson Is particularly proud of the fact that he’s been able to work in low-budget, exploitation films without “ever having to do a women-in-prison film or a slasher movie nothing I would find morally objectionable. That’s just not our meat-and-potatoes.”

Do your writers come up with concepts? Charles Band: Most, if not all. of our projects come from my titles and concepts. That’s a reward for me, to get to dream things up and then assign various projects and concepts to writers and see the picture get made and distributed. So, it’s a little different than the way other people work where they have 200 script submissions a week and they hope to find one and develop it. We’re lucky enough not to be looking for any projects. If anything good comes along, we’re here to read it. We still have our hundred script submissions, but basically, we’re Just looking for good writers. Very few of our projects Just walk in the door perhaps one in the last year. We have hundreds of concepts we’ve been developing over the last few years, and those are the ideas that will become movies.
It sometimes seems that the lack of control works out well when you have a Stuart Gordon around, but there are some films Eliminators comes immediately to mind  that needed somebody to step in and say, “This isn’t working.” That script Just didn’t seem ready. Charles Band: True, but that’s the script’s fault, not the director’s. It’s impossible to predict how a project is going to turn out. You can do all the right things and it Just doesn’t work. On the other hand, you can make 500 mistakes and suddenly the picture works. You want to make sure you have the best script possible, but sometimes things are rushed, and that shows. It always comes down to the script. Sometimes the script reads real well but it Just doesn’t play that way. Eliminators was one of the best scripts we’ve ever had here. It reads great. Why the script reads so well and the picture isn’t so good to some, the picture is fun and works; to others, it’s disjointed if you read the script, you’ll find a really well-written, fun script, very cohesive, very weird. I have no defense, or no explanation for why some pictures work and some don’t. The best we can do is to make certain we start off with a good script and that the talent we assemble is right, then hope for the best. You just don’t know. You don’t even know when you see the dailies. There are some times when you see the dailies and you’re in love with every shot, and it gets put together and it just doesn’t work.
Trancers was one of the best things Empire has done and I was surprised it didn’t do better. Charles Band: So was I. It was one I directed, so I was anxious to see it work. But it was the least effective of all the first year’s pictures. That’s another sad thing: There’s no telling which picture is going to work.
Was it supposed to be the first in a series? Charles Band: Yes. I always wanted to make an inexpensive series, not something that would cost tons of money and be hard to get off the ground. We could have made two of those movies a year. I love the character of Jack Deth and the whole thing would have been fun to do. We were even close to doing another one in spite of the first’s failure, just because ‘why not?’ But we’ll come up with something else someday. Tim Thomerson’s a major talent and no one’s used him right except us in Trancers .
Paul De Meo and Danny Bilson have written another film that will begin production soon, Journeys Through The Darkzone (1986). Bilson will direct. “It’s about these guys who work on a dumping fishing station where people get their anxieties out through recreation,” Bilson reveals. Then people start disappearing from this colony on this water planet. It’s a little like Outland. An investigation leads to this attraction, which is an alien machine which can project you into an alternate reality to satisfy your fantasies. But it has hidden dangers.”
The pair are currently scripting Arena (1989), which they describe as Body and Soul in space. Arena is based around a fantasy sport and involves a bid for a new champion, racketeering and space gangsters.

The Caller (1987) One night, an unusual stranger in need asks a woman living alone in a house in the woods if he can use her phone. It soon becomes clear that they’re playing a strange mind game and that there’s something very wrong about the woods.
The History of Empire Films Part Two Charles Band decided to go after the media market in a different way. He was beginning to make a picture called SWORDKILL in 1982, about a samurai who was frozen in ice, when he realized something.
