The angel stood before me, glowing softly, their wings folded behind them, but still almost filling the doorway.

“You...You’re a...”

“I am Zahriel,” they said, “an Angel of the Lord.”

“Holy shit,” I whispered, earning that reproachful look again. “Sorry. I just...You’re really an angel.” I don’t know why I was surprised, considering that I’d just spent the last hour with a demon. Azir, however, had at least looked human. This being wasn’t even trying to blend in. “What are you doing here?”

“Setting things right,” Zahriel said with a frown. They regarded me for a moment, then sighed. “I really hate this part of the job.”

I stared, wide-eyed, as the angel drew a long, shining sword from somewhere within the folds of their robes. Blue-white tongues of flame danced along the blade as Zahriel raised the sword in the air and stepped toward me.

Now that 2022 is over, what had been everyone's favorite LGBT novels of the year?

I myself got recommended a m/m BDSM book called "Mind Fuck" by Mana Francis (the whole series is called Administration). It's set in a dystopian world where one of the main characters works as a torturer (in virtual spaces) and the other protagonist develops virtual spaces (and considers torture highly morally reprehensible).

They get together (mostly to fuck, in the beginning), but eventually they get a really sweet romance. The guy with the morals is also the dom which is really fun too. (Though they do sometimes switch.)

The book series is not as dark as it sounds in the beginning, too. Just spicy enough to make everything more interesting.

I read Mind Fuck years ago and thought it was very well done, particularly how the whole thriller/mystery plot holds together. The ship didn't really grab me, but it was such a nice change from books that only mostly work as romance novels and don't at all work as anything else. The tone made so much sense when I found out it was tangentially related to Blake's 7.

What did I read last year... hmm... Honestly, I spent a lot of the year writing my second novel and a lot of it reading BTS fanfic.

The Forgotten Dead (OutFoxing the Paranormal Book 1) was fun. It felt a little slight, but I loved the ghost hunting nonsense. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

since the setting of little nightmares is vast, snow would have her own story. 

she would have been a resident in The Castle; a place that looks like something you’d see in a dark fantasy that got abandoned by God himself. similar to the nest in very little nightmares, the castle would have been isolated from the rest of the crumbling world probably in attempts to save whatever was left of the people, but that lasted as long as a chocolate bar in the hot sun. 

in a true little nightmares fashion, snow’s objective is to escape because the queen out for her blood cuz YUM. CHILD ORGANS. and there would be three monsters she’d need to outfox so mommy dearest wouldn’t have her heart on a silver platter:

the huntsman. the woods. the witch. 

i haven’t really thought of the last two, but i’m leaning towards the huntsman pursuing snow and then actually succeeding to catch her, only to get emotionally distressed at the last moment, and then helping her for the last bit....and probably before getting killed because little nightmares is on a strict “happiness-free” diet. also the woods would be this whole ass entity and leave everyone is a state of intense paranoia.  

in other news, since the children of this world all seem to have some sort of paranormal influence in one way or another, i’m really considering snow to have some power over folk’s emotions. specifically a heart gripping sense of sorrow.

also you get achievements for snow breaking every mirror she comes in contact with. snow gets baby anarchist rights.

🥰Winter's Children (Neery) - 66K, stucky - "When their attempts to recreate the super soldier serum failed, Hydra started trying to breed Captain America clones from his genetic samples. Unfortunately, the serum's effects aren't passed down genetically, so instead of an army of tiny Captain Americas, they get a bunch of tow-headed, asthmatic, allergic, immuno-compromised little Steves. And then the Winter Soldier stumbles across Hydra's failed experiment…" - just a great fucking fic. I stayed up until 1AM to read and I am too fucking old to be doing nonsense like that, but it was totally worth it.
