I've been meaning to find some more book podcasts because, while I love Reading Glasses, Brea and Mallory's book tastes are almost the complete opposite of mine.
Now I just stumbled across an advertisement for a Big Gay Fiction Podcast and I am intrigued.

Ok I got four asks in my inbox about the new Nick interview and I'm actually mad. I'm actually livid and exasperated because I've been getting and answering similar asks over and over again, and yet people still come to me with the same statement and the same conviction EVEN AFTER I POINTED OUT EVERY FUCKING FACT THAT CONTRADICTS IT.
Do you really need a 19-year-old to teach you reading comprehension and media literacy?
Ok, fine.
Statement One: Nick doesn't appreciate RWRB, he's brushing it aside, which is why it wasn't mentioned in the New York Times
One: Editorials don't always portray the actual thoughts or agenda of the interviewee.
Unlike a video interview or a podcast interview where we can hear the whole conversation directly from Nick with his voice, and even if there are cuts and edits we can pick it up via visual or audio continuity, in a written editorial the only thing we can rely on is the writer's words, or in other words, the writer's paraphrase or quotation of what Nick said to him. This gives much bigger room for any changes or manipulation in content because we have nothing else to reference.
It is clear that in the past three editorials, the writer or the magazine itself has deliberately demeaning and devaluing RWRB. In NY Magazine, it was only mentioned in one line and degraded to "a queer take on a common straight trope" (see the choice of word "president's daughter"), with the implication being at its core, it's a straight story/ reliant on past straight stories to be interesting; Hunger Magazine calls it fujoshi-pleasing (fujoshi: Japanese slang, denoting how a straight woman who enjoys fictional gay content is "rotten", too ruined to be married, an insult to both the audience/fans and the movie itself ); and this time New York Magazine didn't even mention RWRB, when let's be honest, it's Nick's biggest breakout role.
"Once Is Chance, Twice is Coincidence, Third Time's A Pattern" this is deliberate. I can't say what the agenda is, my guess is some extent of latent homophobia, but it's clear that this is a fucking pattern. In fact, besides the hidden agenda of devaluing RWRB, these editorials show another hidden agenda, but that's something for a later day. PM me id you want to now, I won't discuss that one on my public platform yet.
Again, there is so much more room for twisting and hiding words in a written editorial. In all the video interviews Nick did, especially in the UK, when has he ever avoided a question about RWRB? When has he ever not shown gratitude towards the project?
Two: In all video evidence that can't be manipulated, that clearly shows Nick's own thoughts which not influenced by any other party, he has made it clear that he adores RWRB.
Why else would he sign books during the M&G London premiere, going as far as to stay behind after the event just to sign books? Same with the LA M&G premiere and TIOY premiere: those were promotions for other projects, he had a valid reason to refuse to sign the RWRB books and posters, but he didn't, always signing with a big smile on his face, even playfully signing on Taylor's face. He said it himself in his Instagram post, and I quote: "The love that Henry has received has been one of the most heartwarming things to watch. It's been difficult to not talk about him. So thank you for seeing him for all he is. He was a joy to bring to life." There's your proof, directly from the man himself.
Statement Two: Nick's not interested in doing a sequel, he said he's done playing princes and he's done playing romantic leads
One: "Done playing princes" doesn't mean literally done playing princes, it means he wants to try more roles and not be stuck with only being known as the "prince" guy. (even though he's literally a prince lol)
Plus, he said that after Robert, but then Henry came along and he was attracted to Henry as a character with his scared but loving heart. He doesn't just view Henry as a prince, he views Henry as a complex, delicate person who so happens to be a prince. Him saying he's done playing princes means in the future, he doesn't really want another royal on his filmography, but this doesn't mean he doesn't want to continue Henry's story. With the given context, namely asking him about future projects he wants to take up, "he's done playing princes" and "he doesn't want to play Henry anymore" are not mutually inclusive.
Two: "Done playing romantic leads" means he wants to try new things and take up new projects that aren't romance films.
This doesn't include the continuation of already established characters i.e. sequels, this just means if he were to take up brand new projects, he wants to try something else. Sequels are inherently different from new projects because again, sequels are based on already established characters.
Three: He said several times ON VIDEO that he'd be in for a sequel
In this one, when asked if he'd be up for a sequel, he said, and I quote "Look, I think with any opportunity of doing a sequel, I think, you know, the script has to be right. But obviously, it was so lovely to see how many people it touched and having that resonance is incredibly important to me, so, yeah. Of course."
In this one, when asked if they have had conservation on a potential sequel, he said, and again I quote: "Yeah, I mean definitely had conversations. I think we're all on the same page in the sense that, you know, the script needs to be right, and sort of all the different components need to be right because we made something that has such a positive effect and I think the last thing you'd wanna do is ruin that or take that in a way, so, you know, the conversations are definitely being had."
And there are more videos from red carpet interviews that I can't be bothered to find right now but he says more or less the same thing.
(look I even transcribed it)
Not only is he on board with a sequel, he's also being careful about it to make sure once they do get to making it, it's something good. He's on board, and he values it. And again, that's directly from him.
We have a phrase in Chinese: 斷章取義, meaning "breaking off a small part of an article and deriving the meaning from that single part" That's what so many of you, in particular, the people who come to my inbox with the sentiments of the above-mentioned statement are doing. Please, use critical thinking and look at the whole picture. Stop making judgments from the surface of one source.
Tagging my friends @alittlefrenchtree and @myteavsricochet because it looks like they've been getting the same things I got

Goth-Pod Ep 10: Finale
Welcome to Goth-Pod's last episode of season one! Juda Boone is joined today by a very special guest! (ITS DICK GRAYSON-WAYNE. WE GOT DICK GRAYSON)
Thank you for joining us for our first season. Until next time, stay safe, Gotham.
[goth-pod is a fictional, in-universe podcast based on the DC comics universe. Juda Boone is an original fictional character, not based on any real person or known comic book character.]
Special thanks to my friend for voicing Dick! @anythingeverythingallofthetime
Transcript under the cut
Juda: Hello everyone and welcome back! This is Goth-Pod, your Gotham based podcast. I am your favorite host, Juda Boone. And I am not alone today! Care to say hi?
Dick: Hello listeners!
Juda: Today’s episode is the last before our hiatus. So of course, we are doing what any competent media does when they want to be successful: Completely change up the formula at the very last minute.
Dick: And that's where I come in!
Juda: Yes, you are our very special guest star / co-host / interviewee for our finale.
Dick: And I am happy to be here. I totally binge-listened to all your episodes after you reached out to me. It was too good to pass up! I don’t think I’ve ever been on a podcast before? I like it, I get to wear big headphones and talk.
Juda: Why don’t you start out by just introducing yourself, for our non-local listeners.
Dick: Sure thing! I am Dick Grayson-Wayne, I am an Aries, I think. And I am single. If you happen to know someone.
Juda: [laughing] Okay, very helpful. And since we are an audio-based medium, it is my duty as a host to explain that Mr. Grayson just gave me a very tasteful wink.
Dick: We’re friends here, Juda. You can call me Dick.
Juda: With all the respect in the world I will not be calling you that.  Juda: Mr. Grayson, we actually have something of an important topic to discuss today. As you are now a Bludhaven resident, you have some insight on their vigilante, Nightwing. I was hoping you could tell the Gotham listeners a bit about the up-and-coming hero.
Dick: To be fair, I don’t know any more than the next guy. I’ve seen him around town, of course, especially on patrol. But I’ve never had the chance to actually talk to him. Guess that means I’m staying on the right side of trouble.
Juda: From what you have seen, what are some differences between Gotham's Bat and Bludhaven’s Nightwing?
Dick: The fashion sense, for sure! Dick: He actually seems like a person rather than a- what was it you called Batman? In Episode 1, I thought it was great! Like a- an Earthbound spirit, right? And from what I hear the guy has a good sense of humor, unlike Batman. Probably a winning smile to go along with it.
Juda: hah! Mr. Grayson, we are not a gossip podcast, but to me it almost sounds like you have a crush.
Dick: woah, woah, hey now Juda, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I mean, give me a chance to get rescued by the guy. We’ll see if sparks fly then.
Juda: And if that happens, will you be back on the show?
Dick: You will be the first person I call, I can promise you that.  Dick: Juda if we are to be friends, I’m going to have to come clean on something.
Juda: Oh no.
Dick: It’s nothing bad! I just may have started us off on a lie, and I apologize for that.
Juda: I repeat: Oh no.
Dick: I said that I only listened to Goth-Pod after you reached out to me. In truth, I heard every episode at their release. [whispering] I’m the one who showed Bruce your Bruce Wayne episode.
Juda: Mr. Grayson, you didn’t.
Dick: AND your Bruceman Episode.
Juda: Dick.
Dick: [laughing] Hey, that's my name!
Juda: To save myself from the mortification of that reality, I’m going to say that this is all the time we have today. Thank you so much for joining us, everyone. This time and everytime. A special thank you to my co-host, Dick Grayson-Wayne. I am Juda, this is Goth-Pod. Anything you’d like to say, Mr. Grayson?
Dick: Uuhh. Be gay, don’t do crime. And Stay Safe, Gotham!

The Newsreader & gender expectations. Part II: Dale Jennings and being a newsreader
I feel like there's a line connecting Dale's mum with his career ambitions and with how he feels about his sexuality.
Dale's not that young. So, why hasn't reflected more about his sexuality and his relationships? Why is he still trying to erase parts of himself (darling, it won't work)? Why does he assume that everyone wants to get married?
"It's 1987, there was not really the language for him to discover that (and he's working in such a rigid environment), to even really understand what bisexuality is or what pansexuality is or maybe demisexual (sic)." Sam Reid. ABC Radio National
Both Sam and Michael have talked about Dale lacking the language about his sexuality. While it's true that that he may not have come across the word "bisexual" (although the famous Bowie interview is from 1979), I feel like more than a label he needs a narrative. It's pretty common for queer people, when we're discovering our sexuality to look for people like us: historical figures, fictional characters, people in our own life, etc. Just some one to show us how to live.
Gerry also doesn't have a label, and yet he seems much more happy and comfortable in his sexuality. His life history could be that narrative Dale needs: fall in love with a woman, marry, have a child, have a successful career AND have sex with men on the side. But Dale is set on monogamy. Which is absolutely fine, but he can't imagine himself as attracted to both men and women, and monogamous, AND happy.
Tumblr media
My theory is that he's never had the time to think about this things because he was an emotionally parentified child. We know that Dale's father died when he was only 15. He had to take responsibility for his mum happiness. And he's holding that responsibility ever since.
Tumblr media
This is more fanfiction than analysis territory, but I can imagine a recently widowed Val glued to the TV, watching news. And I can imagine a very young Dale thinking "Now that my dad's dead I have to be a proper man, the kind of man my mum values. And that man is a newsreader."
"I suppose Dale has always sort of believe that the pinnacle of... everything that represents stability and assuredness and the kind of like archetype of what it is to be a man and what it is to be a voice of authority is represented in this newsreader kind of form." Sam Reid. The Newsreader Podcast. 06 | Fireworks with Sam Reid and Michael Lucas
I know that sexuality is not correlated to gender, but these things intersect and the ideal man for society (specially in this moment in time) is a straight man (who gets married to a woman, has children, provides for them financially, etc). Queer men are seeing as feminine and therefore faulty. Dale's running away from being perceived that way.
Tumblr media
What I would call "a partner" and Adam calls "a lover", Val calls "a friend". The euphemism makes it pretty clear that she's not comfortable with queerness. Dale wants to make her happy, so he has to be a straight man.
Tumblr media
Even after more than a year of Helen and Dale being together, Val says she wasn't sure Dale was going to propose/marry her. Maybe she thought they were going to break up, or that they would continue to "live in sin" (lets note the religious expression for a moment...) for ever. But what I hear (and judging by Dale's awkward reaction, he may be thinking the same) is "up until this moment I was afraid you were actually gay".
Tumblr media
By the end of the season, Dale and Helen have broken up. He buys his own house and while he's showing it to his mum, they have that little dialogue. "It's not a family home", once again that idea of nuclear family shows up. For the first time he's going against her wishes. Does this mean he's happy? Sam doesn't think so and neither do I. I think he just switched his mum's expectations for those of the society in general. And society expect for people who work on TV to have big fancy houses, so that's what he bought.

I am still thinking about the buggy Anastasia au (also, I am not much of a writer, if this falls into the style of dming or a gay fiction podcast, that’s what I got in me, and tonight I’m a lil stoney baloney, that’s what else I got in me, so this will be a wall of text) and like, I had the intention of Buggy being out because I like trans fem Buggy and also mostly because the drama of the hunt for Dark King Silvers Rayleigh and King of the Pirates Gol D Roger daughter. They know she’s probably dead but they can’t prove it and they can hold onto that hope.
Shanks threw himself into the hunts for Buggy and can’t bring himself to believe she’s gone, he’s still doing his drunk pirate thing but, he’d do anything to find her, his crew would follow him anywhere to find her.
And Blue, starts to remember, as she gets brought along by Mihawk and Crocodile. She sees Shanks, just barely, and it triggers the beginning of her memories coming back, and sailing has been instinctive, since Buggy forgot and Blue began, so she’s becoming more of an active participant in her own kidnapping by the day. She’s commandeered a jacket from Mihawk, not his style at all but he’s been holding onto it nonetheless (it’s Shanks’, he hasn’t shared how or why he’s got it, or that it’s Shanks’ beside a somewhat bewildered comment to Crocodile, who honestly does not want to know about Shanks and Mihawks break up and thus did not ask) but Blue wears it because it’s comfortable and the sea is cold at night and it feels safe (and smells familiar, she can’t place how but it smells like the wind and the sun and Benn’s tobacco smoke and that smells like freedom and home to her, even now)
And, Blue didn’t believe it, that she might be Buggy, Blue was no one but a carnie and scared and alone and Buggy seems loud and flashy, but at a certain point, when she’s remembered more than anyone told her (Roger taught her and Shanks shanties, he started with Binks sake and Blue, Blues just always known the words, but, she’s humming along one night and it occurs to her, her dad taught her that, she knows it like breathing, that he smiled and sang and her other dad chuckled at him and loved it. She smiled and Crocodile asked what had her so happy and she tells him, and it’s just one of the several occasions he and Mihawk and a late night Blue-less meeting about) and she runs into someone else who calls her Buggy, that it must be true, and she’s still scared of it, but she stops trying to run from it all, because running home is far less scary. (Maybe the gang do run into Garp, he’s big and scary and a marine but he’s got a heart, and Garp the Hero’s known her since she was up to his knees, Ray’s and Rogers’ half feral brat who’s shy and anxious and has always been too clever for everyone’s good and he should arrest her, she’s a young and powerful pirate who’s only going to get stronger, but she’s Buggy and he wants to see her get home. Maybe it’a Shirohige or one of his crew, and pirate rivalry be damned they’ve missed her too. They get like 100% confirmation Blue is Buggy though. They haven’t gotten it from Shanks because Mihawk doesn’t wanna talk to him. Shanks is chasing them.)
Imma be honest idek for the timeline, maybe when Buggy and Shanks are like 18-19? Main ships Rayleigh/Roger/Rouge, she’s here and she also wants Buggy back, she just hasn’t come up, also I kinda lost the plot of the crossguild aspect but like
Anastasia!Buggy AU isn't something I needed, along with some other AUs that people have. For the timeline maybe if Roger is still alive, Buggy got lost around sixteen because that's probably the age she was when Roger was murdered, that's also something if Roger is dead, that would be a time that she could go missing.
Anyway, I love this so much! To me, Shanks and Buggy siblings in a way, so Buggy commandeered a jacket from Mihawk which was Shanks to begin with, is quite funny how Blue feels like she's safe in it. Because it reminds her someone safe and stuff.
There are so many ideas that can happen with this AU, like new characters that Blue met that can join in the Cross Guild, and maybe her circus has all her crewmates. They are just now fully a performing circus crew, that ain't pirates... unless they sometimes play as pirates
If you do more of these, I love to hear them!!!

15 questions for 15 friends
Tagged by @gingerniiiija. Thanks, friend! This was super fun.
Were you named after anyone? I was. In good Southern (US) fashion, I have a double name that incorporates my grandmother's maiden name, which was also my mom's middle name and is now one of my niece's names.
When was the last time you cried? Today. I took one of my dogs to board at the same time that a pup was coming for their last vet visit and watching him surrounded by his crying family while an instrumental version of a Brandi Carlile song played over the vet speakers broke me. Managed to keep it together until I got to the car. Before that, Thursday during Critical Role.
Do you have kids? I do not. I do have wonderful nieces, and being their aunt is one of the best things in my life.
What sports have you played/do you play? I played church basketball and soccer when I was little. As an adult, I've played rugby but I tend toward activities like running, yoga, swimming, and hiking/wandering with my dogs.
Do you use sarcasm? Yes, in a dry humor way. My entire family is dry as hell, so it's a big part of my sense of humor, although I rein it in with strangers so as not to be a tool. I'm typically called a golden retriever gay, but one of the highest compliments I have ever received was one of my oldest friends telling me that Sister Michael from Derry Girls reminded her of me.
First thing you notice about people? I genuinely don't think I have a pattern here. Voice, maybe? Or smile? I do often appreciate and take note of people's style as well, especially shoes.
What is your eye color? Green
Scary movies or happy endings? Whichever has the better queer storyline
Any talents? I come in clutch in the following trivia categories: pop culture (non-reality tv); 90s country music/modern women of country; name that song; US history and politics and/or law; and queer things. Per my nieces, I am very good at the "funny faces" feature on FaceTime, a solid water slide escort, and an acceptable makeshift jungle gym. I have been told that I'm an excellent driver; I enjoy driving and have driven both a passenger van and a U-Haul up most of the East Coast of the US.
Where were you born? A military base in the United States.
What are your hobbies? I love writing, feeding/spending easy time with friends, reading (preference for fiction, poetry, and comics, although I do love some philosophy and theory as well), exploring good food and new places (solo or with friends, my own city or others), live music and theater, playing board games and Switch, watching tv and movies (my oldest niece and I see a movie every time I visit them in person and it brings me great joy), and being silly with my nieces. I'm a lawyer and a law nerd, so I also spend time following SCOTUS and listening to legal/political podcasts.
Do you have any pets? Two dogs, Annie and Buffy, a big doofy retriever mix and a tiny poodle-ish terror respectively.
How tall are you? 5' 8"
Favorite subject in school? Growing up, English/Lit, closely followed by History. At university, I majored in History and Gender & Sexuality Studies.
Dream Job? Obligatory note that I do not dream of labor. But I'm actually currently working on a career shift, so I'm giving this a lot of thought. I'd love to be a writer, journalist, professor, or preacher (last one is more complicated, for probably obvious reasons).
Would love to see answers from anyone who wants to do this! Tagging @korralone, @kasadilla11, @antlereed, and @overnighttosunflowers. Pls forgive me/disregard if you hate this, ha.

Flake's podcast - Gay and lesbian
podcast 2022-09-13, playlist of the songs
The biggest force in life and the only one Flake respects (apart from his wife) is Nature. And the biggest drive in Nature is Sex, big parts of life are about sex, thinking about sex, sex to reproduce, and to prevent to many people being born, Nature also created same-sex so it's completely natural for a man to love a man and woman to love a woman. That is the intro to this podcast, and Flake plays songs about, or by, gay or lesbian artists, some of whom are well known to be gay, some who had to hide it for a long time (and some, to be honest, i think Flake is 'outing' without really knowing 🍀 but as he sees homosexuality as something completely normal, he doesn't have a problem with that).
As a sidenote he also mentions some of his favorite things:
author: Kurt Vonnegut (0h29)
fictional character: Kilgore Trout
movie: Brokeback Mountain (0h48)
saying: 'Der Spaß ist kurz, ein Leben lang' (0h58, from the song Kribbel Krabbel by Ton Steine Scherben) (meaning something like 'Fun only lasts a short time, for an entire life'
composer: Chopin (1h53), but eventually he heard so much of it thathis interest diminshed a bit, Flake compares this how Modern Talking music, that was also played so much..."Paul our guitarist" said about that "It is good because otherwise there wouldn't be millions of people listening to it", but Flake doesn't agree, it's not his cup of tea, no matter how many listeners they have)
painter: Gauguin (1h53)
Completely fitting in the theme at 1h40 Flake plays the Rammstein song 'Mann gegen Mann' which to the band is called 'Schwuler' (but their Swedish producer Mann gegen Mann (Man against man) sounded better, Flake thinks it should at least have been Mann mit Mann (Man with man)), the songtitle comes from the Family Values Tour in the US which Rammstein did with a.o. Korn, Korn had a song 'Faget', and Rammstein told them it meant 'Schwuler' in German. They heard it so often at the tour that they made a song about it.
But the funnest anecdote (especially for the fanfic-inclined among us) is at 1h02, where Flake talks about when Rammstein records an album, they retreat to a studio and for three weeks they do everything together: make music, eat together, sit down after work, watch tv, and they all get really familiar. When hanging out together they regularly drop a theme and talk about each one's experience with it, often it turns out that a theme that one thought they had only experienced themselves, others know about as well. Well, one night the topic 'Homo erotic experience' was brought to the table, and as it turned out, the entire band had their experience with that...either going home with someone after a party , or when they were at school with a friend... ❤️ Most people have both sides in them, sometimes inclined a bit more to one side, sometimes to the other, and Flake also occassionally is attracted, to a guy, for instance in a movie.
He knows what it's like to get a warm feeling in his heart ❤️
PS. because of that anecdote, I'm not going to complain that he completely fails to acknowledge Adam Lambert is singing in Queen 😄 and that he isn't playing Freddie Mercury's boyfriend in the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' movie (or maybe i am in the wrong there 😊)

Hey friends!
Not really sure how, but the indie comedy fiction podcast my wife and I made together about two ex-girlfriend Co-captains and their very queer crew has ended up a finalist in the Signal Awards for Best Writing (Fiction) alongside literal BATMAN and a show starring Tatiana Maslany!!!!!
It is AMAZING, but as a small indie podcast from Australia we don’t quite have the same amount of resources as say, Warner Brothers, to promote the show for the Listener’s Choice vote…
So if you liked our show, or just want to see the gays winning (and big companies losing) - please follow the link below and vote for us. THANK YOU!!!

Tumblr Bear Poll Interest Check!
In the tradition of tumblr tournaments like @sexymanotd @ultimatepinkgirl @mfshipbracket and the original @bearpoll comes a tournament to decide the best bear!
This is a form to collect nominations for the Tumblr bear poll!
Here, you may nominate your favorite fictional bears.
While Wikipedia defines "Bear" as follows:
In gay culture, a bear is a larger and often hairier man who projects an image of rugged masculinity. The bear concept can function as an identity or an affiliation, and there is ongoing debate in bear communities about what constitutes a bear
For the purpose of this poll, contestants should meet all points of the following definition:
Fat, overweight, etc.
Older (21+ at LEAST)
Hairy (facial or body hair; head hair is not a necessary component)
Fictional. This may include characters played by actors, but do NOT nominate real people, simply their characters. Bears from books, film, animation, podcasts, comics, or video games are all welcome!
As a small note: if you're nominating a character from a podcast or a book, there must be canon art or description saying that this character meets the above criteria.
There will be 64 contenders! (However, if there cannot be enough to fill out a 64 character bracket, it will be 32)
There is also a list below that you may choose from, I have put a lot of effort into this list as I am a big fan of fictional bears! Please write in if I am missing your favorite! I am one person and while I've consulted with others, I know that our scope is not as vast as all of tumblr!
A character's appearance on this list does not ensure that they will be in the final tournament, the characters below are simply suggestions.
Write-in nominations with more than 5 nominations (who meet the criteria) will be added to this survey to make things a bit easier for those voting! The nominees with the top 64 votes will make it into the final poll!
This tournament WILL be seeded.
Happy Voting!
If you have any feedback please see @bearpoll2023 on tumblr

📚 STUFF I READ 📚
😊👂 Peril at End House (Hercule Poirot #9) (Agatha Christie, author; Hugh Fraser, narrator)
😍 Slow Dancing In A Burning Room (No Sweeter Death #1) (feelslikefire) - great 00Q slow burn
😍 Whoever Fights Monsters (No Sweeter Death #2) (feelslikefire, circ_bamboo) - 00Q/White Collar crossover - though technically a sequel, could easily be read as standalone; does have a pandemic storyline that def hits differently in 2022 than in 2013 when it was written
🥰👂 Lord Edgware Dies (Hercule Poirot #10) (Agatha Christie, author; Hugh Fraser, narrator)
Hold It All At Bay (psocoptera) - decently entertaining zimbits soulbond fic (a small but unfortunate use of the 'magical negro' trope)
😍👂 Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot #11) (Agatha Christie, author; Dan Stevens, narrator) - no matter how many times I reread this, it never gets old
No Superman (WhoNatural) - sterek Scrubs AU
💖💖 +170K of shorter fic so shout out to these I really loved 💖💖
MWR (One-EyedBossman (desert000rose), SecretFandomStories) - MCU: stucky, 26K - Differently Okay Local Idiots #5 - can't get enough of this series!
Dash Yourself Upon the Rocks (triedunture) - OFMD: BlackBonnet, 15K - actual Kraken AU - Stede wants to be the fearsome 'Kraken Hunter' & then he finds it; lots of delicious monsterfucking tentacle sex
With Shoes Like Those (AidaRonan) - MCU: stucky, 10K - reread, perennial fave - pre-war setting with tiny Dom Steve giving Bucky exactly what he's been craving
pretty baby you have me (so weak) (inevitablemeow) - MCU: stucky, 10K, canon-divergent Daddy kink - Bucky talks in his sleeps so now Steve knows that Bucky wants to say it. And Steve is going wild waiting to hear it.
📺 STUFF I WATCHED 📺
Fire Island - 😍😍😍 thee best modern Pride & Prejudice adaptation
Legends of Tomorrow - s5, e13-15; s6, e1-4
Bob's Burgers - s3, e20
Murderville - s1, e3; interesting concept, Kumail Nanjiani was good, but I feel like the original British show is probably better (though this could be bc I'm largely meh on Will Arnett)

PLEASE do you have any film podcasts you recommend??
the next picture show is super interesting, they do roundtable discussions examining how classic films influence and inspire modern films so you'll have something like all the president's men and spotlight comparisons or the wicker man and the vvitch, i think it's cool to maybe have like double feature evenings, see what you personally notice and then hear what the "pros" have to say.
the big picture has reviews, especially of latest movies, but they also talk about some arthouse stuff. they also do these like top 5 lists, oscars analysis etc. roundtables and interesting guests
the rewatchables it's what it says on the tin. rewatching movies and talking about them.
you must remember this host does incredible research, it's really about like secret and forgotten histories of 20th century hollywood. they did like a 12 part series on eroticism and sex in 80s cinema it's so interesting.
filmspotting and the film cast for reviews of new and old as well
sardonicast does pretty much everything
sleepover cinema is super fun and definitely the type of podcast i would want to have, just two friends talking about late 90s/early 2000s movies and pop culture in general that sort of shaped the collective unconscious of "girls and gays" as they say
black on black cinema for black film reviews and discussions
reel asian podcast for asian and asian american film reviews and discussions
a piece of pie for lgbt films and topics and subtext and such
junkfood cinema for shitty and cult movies. i haven't listened to how did this get made but it's also about bad movies we love.
blank check cover entire filmographies of directors
space brains for science fiction
final girls horrorcast for horror, sci-fi, thrillers both well known and obscure
i think these are all i've listened to at some point, can't say i religiously follow any one in particular but i can say all of these are pretty great. it's just a matter of which hosts and guests don't annoy you lmao. sometimes i'll just search for a specific movie or director on spotify and some episode will pop up so i'll check it out. hope you find something you like!

jeff and will were kind enough to have me on the big gay fiction podcast to talk about game misconduct. if you'd like to hear more about my writing process, niche interests, and influences (as well as my inability to speak concisely, rip) check it out. 😊

All the silly mech media I've consumed so far to prepare for my beam saber game
(Ya'll I have gotten so autistic about mecha it's wild)
Okay for context I'm gonna join a Beam Saber (Narrative based mech ttrpg, it's really fucking cool) game soon and I realized that I don't know anything about mecha stuff so I decided to develop a hyperfixation (and I did!!! Luv me some gundam!!!) Anyways here's all the silly media I've gone through for both fun and research as to what "makes" the mecha genre/what the fantasy of mecha is
Underlined ones (EDIT underlines apparently don't work so I'll be putting italics and !!! next to each one I really really like) are ones I really really like and like if you're gonna play/watch anything I recommend those ones
Mobile Suit Gundam I The original Gundam series!!! Both this and the other ones are compilation films, so like yeah, some pacing stuff feels off.
Mobile Suit Gundam II
!!! Mobile Suit Gundam III !!! This one is real well done, worth going through the other two movies I think. The pacing is real tight, focuses on some fascinating ideas and themes, and yeah, I like this alot. Char and Amuro should kiss (also gahhhh frothing at the mouth at the ideas of mech rivals (and mech rivals kissing))
Titanfall 2 Is Titanfall campaign, is good
!!! War in the Pocket !!! The story about a young boy once fascinated by war and mechs until the terrifying reality of war arrives to his home. Love this one, it's real good and also a real good emotional gutpunch. Like.... yeah, I'm fond of this one
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky This is the only one I've seen so far that I DO NOT like. Yeah the animation is good and all but it felt too voyeuristic about war in a way that did not sit well with me.
!!! 08th MS Team !!! Gundam but with Vietnam war aesthetics? Love this one love it alot, the story is real good and the backgrounds are GORGEOUS. Out of all the ones I watched this one hit the nail on the head for thematically what I was looking for. Like, it's about a pilot becoming more and more disillusion by the fact they're a soldier and seeks to escape the war, I really really like it!!!
08th MS Team: Miller's Report This is a compilation film, but a weird one, taking place between episodes six and seven, personally I think you might get some enjoyment from watching it instead of those two episodes (at least episode 8, but I'm not sure, there are some moments that I really liked from the show that were cut) but idk.
08th MS Team: Battle In Three Dimensions Short little animation, lovely :), having watched it I think Michel and Sanders should kiss???
!!! The Witch from Mercury (Watching) !!! GAY ASS MECH MOTHERFUCKERS!!! Love me some mech lesbians. But like seriously this one is real good!!! It starts off in its own universe so really good for newcomers (just need to know that there is a difference between a Gundam and a mech within the fiction of the show) I like it alot, it's high school drama with the backdrop of corporate war and space capitalism and like... it's really well done!!!
Friends at the Table: Counter/Weight (Listening) What if an actual play podcast sat down and discussed critical worldbuilding and themes, that's Friends at the Table and it rules!! This one is a more noir focused game with mechs (the system they use is literally called MechNoir) and it's essentially a group of detectives in space Berlin! Real fond of Austin Walker's stuff and Friends at the Table rule, has really inspired me as to how I can run games and what I can do as a player.
Project Nimbus (Playing) Fast mech game, fun.
!!! Heaven Will be Mine (Playing) !!! This game raises the question of what if mech rivals kissed to 11, they are also lesbians, in space, with heavy themes and symbolism, and beautiful art. I really really like this game, finished it twice, trying to 100% it but it's real good, big big big mega fave
Zeta Gundam (Watching) Sequel series to MSG, not sure how I feel about it yet but tbh I'm enjoying it, genuinely love Kamille and I love how Char is in this
!!! Umurangi Generation (Playing) !!! What if you were a photographer at the end of the world and the way the world ended specifically was Evangellion? That's essentially Umurangi Generation and it's REAL good at that, I am extremely fond of this game
Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner (Playing) Like Project Nimbus but with a better feel and also made by the some of the same people who made Metal Gear Solid and Tokimeki Memorial, fun game also all the mechs are sexy????
Phew anyways thats the stuff and my thoughts on it, mech stuff real fucking cool!!! I'm quite fond of it!!! I have so many blorbos now

Hey beautiful! Do you have any recommendations for supernatural horror with lesbians? Thank you for considering!
Hey there 😉
tysm tysm for asking this bc do we ever! Okay so literally just off the cuff, if we're talking movies we HAVE to plug Jennifer's Body (2009) and the Fear Street films. If we're talking shows, it might be redundant to call The Haunting of Bly Manor absolutely bone-chillingly haunting, but if by chance you haven't watched yet, it's gorgeous and beautiful and gay, which seems kinda like ur forte!
Tumblr media
If you're into graphic novels...one-million-hundred percent please check out Monstress by Sana Takeda & Marjorie Liu! Adventure with hefty horror seasoning. Girl's arm is a monster and likes to eat people. Cruel world, good friends, and not-so-good friends! Chef's kiss of a series. C'est Magnifique~
Audio horror... The Magnus Archives written by Jonny Sims and produced by Rusty Quill has some wlw ships, though the cast doesn't really start pairing off until the later seasons. If you're willing to wait for your gay, check this one out! It's so so so so so so good. Pseudopod is an incredible podcast for short horror fiction and has a dearth of queer stories of every kind, but two recent ones that float to the top of the head are Episode 807: The Bleak Communion of Abandoned Things by M. A. Blanchard, and Episode 775: Miss Mack by Michael McDowell (screen credits include Beetlejuice and collabed on The Nightmare Before Christmas).
Okay. Now books because we are Tor Books lmao. While not expressly horror, more space opera with decidedly horrific elements, Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and the entire Locked Tomb series about gay space necromancers kick so much ass! Also check out Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin—it's a gloriously gory genderplague apocalypse story about exhausted, desperate, often despairfully horny trans people fighting zombies and militant terfs.
As for upcoming books?? We are blessed, truly. The Scourge Between Stars by Ness Brown is horror with space lesbians. Camp Damascus by "World's Greatest Author" / almost black belt / dinosaur erotica extraordinaire Chuck Tingle is a story about a conversion camp designed to help steer those gone-astray queers back to holy God via means truly devilish. Tell Me I'm Worthless by Alison Rumfitt is a gay AF story about trans identity and a house haunted by fascism. Good things are coming! And by good things, I mean bloody horror!
Wishing you a big sapphicly gay day 🌈
