#PC Build

I was actually thinking about upgrading my custom-built PC recently and I only just found out that if I want to upgrade to the latest hardware I'd have to replace almost everything in my computer. Just replacing the CPU would force me to also replace the motherboard, RAM cards, and Graphics Cards cause none of the new hardware is compatible with the my existing hardware, likely by design. Like the whole point of a custom build is to be able to upgrade it piece by piece as new stuff releases every few years, but instead when I do decide to upgrade I'm going to have to basically build an entirely new PC.

You know what, fuck it, I don't *want* some frivolous, artisanal, lighter-than-air computer with no customizability, no upgradeability, no reparability, no ports, and a lifetime of *maybe* 3 years if you're lucky. I want a fucking great BEAST of a computer that's designed to last a minimum of 50 years, with ports up the wazoo and optional drives for every kind of media! I want modular components that you can drop in a bog for a year, dry them off, and have them still work fine! I want them to make a noise like "ker-chunk!" when you slide them into place! I want a switch that you pull to turn it on! And I don't want software that constantly forces you to get a pointless, cosmetic "upgrade" every few months either! I want durability! I want longevity! I want satisfying haptics! I want Silicon Valley to go fuck itself!

Oh boy!! My 12 year old CPU finally crapped out. Unfortunately it spitefully dragged my storage and ram with it into the dirt and I've lost allllll of my art files. On the bright side I won't be working on technologically ancient hardware as I'm ordering much more modern replacements. Here's to another 12 years!

Y'all, pc buying is an actual fucking headache beyond belief and I'm crashing out trying to figure out what pc to get.

i am getting fucking stressed beyond belief about trying to get a pc, like genuinely it is getting me so angry because every time i try to get something, it turns out that the thing is awful and overprice, no matter what i do, no matter how much research i put into something and see good reviews, i always feel like a fucking moron. The community is also full of a bunch of cunts, vague advice that isn't practical and doesn't help, reviews that flip flop between positive to negative within a nano second, and some of the biggest gatekeeping I've EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its just a bunch of rich kids who use their mummy's and daddy's credit cards.

i can finally say that ive built my own pc!!! I CANT BELIEVE I DID THAT!! i always thought that i wasn’t smart enough to do this but here i am, with a working computer that i put together from scratch. this has to be one of my most proudest accomplishments.

anyways, im fucking exhausted. finishing all the wiring and then downloading all my software was very stressful. im hoping i can make an edit today we’ll see. 🥹
