[Cletus' phone starts ringing]
Mulligan [from where he's restrained, sneaking a peak at the caller I.D.]: *snorting* You still call your father "daddy?"
Cletus, [staring at Mulligan without even blinking and answering the phone]: Hello, Eddie.

“Congratulations, Anita,” says Pat Mulligan, one in a long line of parents to approach her after the ceremony. “You must be so proud of Saffron!”
“Oh, we are,” says Anita. “She’s really outdone herself.” Her cheeks ache from smiling, her teeth also beginning to feel numb. She tries to catch Joël’s eye so he can fetch her something to eat or drink, but he is oblivious, entranced by a slice of chocolate chiffon pie.
“My Hannah will never win any prizes,” sighs Pat. “We didn’t even think she was going to pass any of her subjects this year! All she’s interested in is her boyfriend. Honestly, she’s had us pulling our hair out, she really has. I confiscated her phone but not even that did any good, somehow she was still making plans to sneak out at night and meet him. It’s been a nightmare. She even threatened to run away from home if we forbade her from seeing him! It’s been such a terrible strain on us all, you have no idea-”
“Saffy’s not interested in having a boyfriend,’ says Anita, unable to keep the smugness from leaking into her voice. “She knows her studies come first.”

Just calling it, Eddie and Venom are definitely going to separate again.
My theory of the movie is that Eddie and Venom are still on the run, Patrick needs their help to get Toxin to be good. Eventually, they all get captured and separate. Eddie and Patrick goes to jail while Venom and Toxin experiment on.
I hope there’s a scene where Eddie completely breaks down, ranting in the jail cell with Patrick. Saying stuff as “And I couldn’t even protect the one person who actually loves me for who I am and wants to stay with me, no matter what.”
Defeated, Eddie also chocks out “Everyone was right about me. Cletus, m-my dad. Everything I touch, I destroyed. I am the cancer.”
Another bonus lines of Eddie also saying
“Venom isn’t the useless one. It’s me”
“Without Venom, I am nothing.”

Anytime Brennan Lee Mulligan gets to play is an absolute delight but Mossbrow might be my new favorite character of his.

Very specific Christmas shout-out to Cincinnati 🤣!
For the longest time, I thought I’d imagined this movie in some childhood fever dream; Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore singing about Cincinnati. A bowling ball filled with Nosferatu-looking goons that rolls down the street, with Richard Mulligan playing a villain in a Victorian looking bird hat. Jill Schoelen in a plush seashell wedding veil with bells. Mr. Miyagi as a toymaker.
Oh, it’s real. Gloriously so, 80’s style 🤣. “Babes in Toyland” (1986).
