In the tapestry of life, there's a thread of timing woven intricately through every experience, every decision, and every outcome. It's a thread that often goes unnoticed until we pause to reflect on our journey and realize the significance of the moments when everything fell into place. Timing, indeed, can be everything.

Throughout history, we find countless examples of individuals who seemed to fulfill their purpose precisely when the stars aligned in their favor. From inventors and entrepreneurs to artists and leaders, there's a common thread of waiting for the right moment, seizing opportunities, and trusting in the process.

Consider the story of famous author J.K. Rowling, who faced rejection after rejection before finally finding success with the Harry Potter series. Had she given up after the first rejection, or the second, or the tenth, the world may never have known the magic of Hogwarts. But Rowling persisted, honing her craft and refining her story until the timing was perfect for its release.

Similarly, many entrepreneurs experience multiple failures before achieving success. They understand that timing is crucial in the world of business – launching a product too soon or too late can make all the difference. It's about recognizing market trends, understanding consumer needs, and knowing when the conditions are ripe for innovation.

But timing isn't just about external factors like market conditions or industry trends. It's also about internal readiness – being prepared to seize opportunities when they arise. This often requires patience, perseverance, and a willingness to trust in the timing of our lives.

Think about your own journey. Perhaps there have been moments when you felt frustrated because things weren't progressing as quickly as you'd hoped. Serendipity arrives when you least expect it, and always at perfect timing.

Several months ago I planned a trip back to Europe to see my friends for summer 2024. Out of eagerness, I booked a one-way flight for $500 to London (first-class) thinking that I landed an amazing deal. However, after the excitement wore off I realized that buying this ticket was a mistake. I found a roundtrip ticket for $200 on my favorite airline a couple of weeks later, and I tried to figure out a means to sell my $500 one-way.

This morning, my one-way Norwegian flight was cancelled. It was out of the blue and they refunded me the $500. Now, I can use this money towards my other expenses to 5 countries.

I couldn't be happier. This trip will probably be the only one I can afford for awhile but it was meant to be. This is confirmation of that fact. :)

Perfect Timing

Rasanya udah lama banget sejak terakhir kali aku sharing tulisan tentang pengalaman, pemikiran, dan perasaan aku kaya begini. Biasanya paling agak panjangan ya dalam bentuk instagram story, tapi kali ini banyak sekali rasanya yang mau aku ungkapin sampai aku akhirnya ingat bahwa sudah lama sejak terakhir kali aku sharing di blog tumblr aku.

Jujur aku bingung sih mau mulai menulis dan bahas dari cerita dan pengalaman yang mana dulu (karena serius ini kepala aku udah penuh banget TAPI in a good way ya). Ini juga kayanya aku bakal nulis dalam bahasa yang santai aja sih, seperti kaya lagi ngomong lisan atau campur-campur juga nanti sama yang rada serius. Nggak tau deh, terserah gimana hati dan jari-jari ini bergerak aja dah.

Oke kalau begitu mari kita mulai mungkin beberapa cerita dan sharing pengalaman di bawah ini bakal lompat-lompat ke sana kemari ngalor ngidul tapi kalau aku boleh kasih satu topik “Waktu Tuhan”

Jiakh, religius banget ya kedengerannya, tapi emang gitu sih maksud dan tujuannya, sekali lagi aku nulis begini juga tujuan utama ya emang buat self-reflection dan self-reminder untuk terus mengingat kebaikan-kebaikan Tuhan.

Kalau disuruh milih waktu-waktu tertentu, entah itu hari atau bulan yang kalian anggap spesial:  aku pribadi punya 3 bulan favorit yang pertama yaitu Desember (Christmas season <3), Juni (bulan kelahiran aku dan banyak temen yang juga lahir di bulan ini) dan terakhir AGUSTUS!  Untuk yang terakhir aku sebutkan itu aku punya alasan panjang kenapa agustus jadi bulan yang sangat spesial buat aku, dan ditulisan ini aku bakal bahas tentang alasan-alasan itu.

Kalau aku tarik kembali ingatanku ke masa lalu kayaknya Agustus ku mulai terasa spesial sejak 10 tahun lalu atau tepatnya tahun 2013 dan sejak saat itu tiap tahunnya Agustus ku tidak pernah lagi sama.

Agustus 2013, itu waktu pertama kali aku menjalani kehidupan sebagai seorang mahasiswa. Zaman maba banget ini, pertama kali tinggal di tempat baru di kota Banjarbaru - merantau, tinggal dikostan, ospek dan lain-lain. Pokoknya beneran pengalaman pertama sekali seumur hidup yang patut dirayakan.

Agustus 2014, aku jadi mahasiswa baru lagi di Palangka Raya yang akhirnya kampus ini jadi almamater lulusanku. Ya memang sih akunya nggak maba-maba banget wkwk tapi ya tetap aja pengalamannya juga baru. Kampusnya beda, orang-orangnya beda. Intinya ya ada lagi satu kisah dan kegiatan baru yang nggak akan mungkin bisa diulang setiap hari.

Agustus 2015, aku dan keluarga besar ku liburan ke Cipanas untuk menghadiri wisuda S3 tanteku. Sebelum nyampe ke Cipanas, aku jalan-jalan dulu di Jakarta, yang mana itu pengalaman pertama banget buatku untuk jalan-jalan di ibu kota. Cipanasnya juga baru pertama sih. Lagi dan lagi, pengalaman dan tempat baru di bulan Agustus.

Agustus 2016, kembali aku dan keluarga besar bepergian bersama, tapi kali ini ke Malang. Ini memang bukan kali pertamanya aku ke Malang sih karena dulu udah pernah waktu aku kecil sama pas SMP juga sih tapi yaa kalau sekeluarga besar juga baru kali ini, jadi ya kembali Agustus mengukir satu cerita baru yang berkesan.

Agustus 2017, KKN. Satu bulan penuh tinggal di tempat baru bersama orang-orang baru. Jujur nggak ada satu pun temen di kelompok KKN ku yang aku sudah kenal sebelumnya, dan serunya lagi aku cuma sendirian dari program studi ku. Waktu itu aku dapat di Desa Petuk Liti, Kecamatan Kahayan Tengah, Kabupaten Pulang Pisau. Dulu aku mikir sih “kenapa aku dapatnya di sini ya?” karena kebanyakan temen dari geng aku dapatnya di Kotawaringin Barat, tapi... baru-baru ini kayanya aku sedikit paham sama maksud dan tujuan kenapa dulu aku ditempatkan di sini.

Agustus 2018, yang paling berkesan sejauh ini, saatnya Yudisium dan Wisuda. Finally, kehidupan perkuliahan S1 resmi berakhir dapat gelar sarjana, usaha kerja keras serta dukungan orangtua juga jadi nggak sia-sia. Saat-saat paling membahagiakan juga mengharukan karena mulai dari sini sahabat-sahabat masa kuliah yang aku anggap sebagai second home-ku juga udah mulai berpencar, ada yang balik kampung ada yang terpisah karena lokasi pekerjaan.

Tibalah kita di Agustus paling SPESIAL, yaitu Agustus 2019. Hampir satu tahun sejak masa kelulusan ku dari perguruan tinggi wkwk dan sampai pada titik ini aku belum juga punya pekerjaan tetap, kerjaanku cuma ngeles freelance sambil tetap fangirling-an biar WARAS. Hingga akhirnya aku memutuskan untuk stay di Bali keberangkatanku saat itu tanggal 15 Agustus. Tujuanku ke Bali utamanya ya untuk memperdalam skill Bahasa Inggris, sekaligus healing tipis-tipis dan juga nyari lowongan kerja siapa tau ada yang cocok.

TAPI, beberapa hari sebelum aku terbang ke Bali, aku ada pergi mengunjungi satu kecamatan yang masih termasuk dalam wilayah Kabupaten Kapuas, yaitu Kecamatan Timpah. Ini dalam rangka menonton PESPARAWI :D Waktu itu sih nggak ada feeling apa-apa, cuma ya aku sambil memantau oh ternyata nggak sekampung itu, masih tergolong dekat juga dari Palangka Raya, kalau naik mobil sama papahku palingan waktu tempuhnya kisaran 2 jam. Tanpa tahu ternyata nggak ada sesuatu yang kebetulan dari setiap perjalanan ini.

Dan tanggal 27 Agustus 2019 adalah waktu debutnya X1, boy group yang aku ikuti sejak survival show dan bener-bener mengisi hari dan kebosananku selama jadi pengangguran, yang kemudian kembali menemani dan mengisi hari-hariku selama di Bali. Masih ingat jelas diingatanku tanggal 27 Agustus 2019 aku pulanng buru-buru dari tempat les ke kostan demi nonton Debut showcase nya X1, turn out besoknya di tempat les anak-anak pada ngobrolin hal ini dan terjadilah, aku yang menemukan teman baik lewat jalur KPOP (LAGI).

Aku menghabiskan waktu dari Agustus-Oktober 2019 untuk kursus di Bali yang mana waktu itu masih nggak kepikiran buat pulang, sampai di akhir Oktober aku denger kabar ada penerimaan CPNS, ya atas desakan keluarga dan orangtua akhirnya aku memutuskan pulang untuk mencoba peruntungan.

Waktu tinggalku di Bali mungkin tergolong singkat, tapi jujur waktu-waktu yang kuhabiskan saat ini benar-benar bermakna untuk membentuk aku yang sekarang. Banyak hal yang aku pelajari selama aku tinggal sendirian di sana, literally sendirian punya kenalan pun ya teman les aja dan itu pun ketemunya tidak intens, pengalaman pertama tinggal jauh yang bener-bener jauh dari keluarga, beda budaya, dan bahasa harian. Beradaptasi, mandiri, belajar beneran untuk dealing sama rasa sepi, dan bagaimana akhirnya untuk merasa cukup sama diri sendiri.

Agustus 2019 ini aku tulis lebih dari satu paragraf karena masa-masa ini seperti pintu gerbang yang membuka kisah-kisah baru yang menentukan perjalanan selanjutnya.

Agustus 2020: pandemi COVID-19. Lockdown. PPKM. Satu agustus yang juga berkesan karena nggak pernah terpikirkan sedikit pun dalam benak ku bahwa seluruh umat di dunia bakal ngelewatin fase ini sama-sama. Bukan hal yang mudah, apalagi posisinya saat itu masih belum jelas. Kerjaan belum punya, status tes CPNS masih gantung juga karena kabar SKB nya belum ada kejelasan, mau kerja lain juga bingung karena yang ada-ada juga malah di rumahkan. Bener-bener masa terkelam :”)

Agustus 2021 - satu yang nggak pernah aku duga, di tahun ini Tuhan kirim balik aku ke Timpah untuk pertama kalinya menginjakan kaki di tempat kerjaku dan bertemu rekan kerja. Tepat tangggal 8 Agustus 2021 aku resmi menghuni salah satu kamar di kost-kostan yang ada di Desa Timpah (yang aku sendiri nggak tau nih sampai kapan hengkangnya wkwk). Jujur di sini tuh rasanya masih kagum banget sama cara Tuhan, karena kalau aku nggak ke Timpah dan mengalami secara langsung suasana di desa ini, mungkin aku nggak akan kepikiran ambil formasi di sini. Kalau aku nggak ambil formasi di sini, sangat mungkin jadi pegawai buatku bukan rejeki. Perjalanan singkat di 2019 dulu seperti kunci untuk membawa langkah kaki ku kembali ke sini.

Agustus 2022, aku kembali merasakan kemeriahaan Perayaan HUT Kemerdekaan RI setelah dua tahun tidak ada perayaan karena PPKM. Di tahun ini juga semakin spesial karen untuk pertama kalinya aku ikut 17-an di desa. Asli seru banget. Mulai dari awal bulan Agustus, tiada hari tanpa menonton lomba; mulai dari lomba sepak bola, panjat pinang, karaoke, dan lain-lain. Ternyata kemeriahan 17an tuh berasa banget kalau di desa-desa. Penuh keseruan dan kekeluargaan. Salah satu yang bikin Agustusku kembali berkesan.

Finally, sampai juga di tahun ini - 2023. Agustus 2023 punya ceritanya yang luarbiasa. Di tahun ini aku akhirnya pertama kali pergi ke luar negeri :D mungkin orang lain di luaran sana ada yang udah sering, atau menganggap ini biasa aja, tapi buat aku tetaplah ini luarbiasa, karena untuk bisa ada di tahap ini juga prosesnya tidak mudah. Terus yang bikin spesialnya lagi karena ke luar negerinya bukan untuk jalan-jalan biasa tapi di sana aku mengikuti kegiatan sebagai Pengajar BIPA, lalu mengikuti Konferensi Internasional untuk memperingati 50 tahun hubungan diplomatis Indonesia – Vietnam sebagai Pemakalah/pembicara, dan yang terakhir yang paling spesial adalah mendapatkan kehormatan sebagai tamu kenegaraan dan diundang langsung untuk mengikuti Gala Dinner di Wisma Konsulat Jendera Republik Indonesia di Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Senangnya tentu karena aku nggak sendirian. Seru banget rasanya bepergian bareng-bareng sama teman-teman kuliah haha terus bagian paling serunya juga sebelum ke Vietnam kita sempat jalan-jalan bareng di Jakarta.

Lalu part paling SPESIAL adalah di tahun ini aku kembali ke Bali. Aku nekad pulang sendiri ke Indonesia mengambil penerbangan terpisah dari rombongan teman-temanku yang pada saat itu kembali lewat Jakarta. Aku mengambil penerbangan langsung ke Bali ^^ Tepat di tanggal 27 Agustus – 4 tahun sejak tanggal debutnya X1 yang mana debut showcasenya aku tonton pas di Bali, lalu bisa-bisanya di tanggal yang sama aku ada di Bali lagi. Jujur ini sih aku nggak expect, baru nyadarnya juga pas di ruang tunggu nunggu pesawat boarding dari H.C.M ke Bali.

Jujur at this point aku tuh kaya, terharu, bersyukur merasa amaze sama semua yang terjadi. Maksudku... pergi ke luar negeri and Bali di tahun 2023 were never in my plan actually, apalagi setelah sebelumnya aku baru aja berangkat konseran di Jakarta. Tapi, Tuhan tuh kasih waktu yang tepat, supaya aku bisa yang kaya begini nih, nostalgia dan napak tilas kemudian merenungi bahwa Tuhan sudah sungguh sangat baik dalam hidupku.

Tuhan nggak kasih aku ke Bali di waktu-waktu sebelumnya padahal udah aku rencanain jauh-jauh hari tapi baru digenapin tepat di 27 Agustus lagi ya mungkin supaya aku belajar, time flies, X1 udah bubar dan aku harus ikhlas. Dari Agustus 2013 si maba teknik pertambangan, sampai agustus 2023 jadi mahasiswa S2 pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, kasih dan penyertaan Tuhan itu nyata adanya.

Lalu dari semua kisah panjang ini aku jadi teringat sama satu quote yang ku dapat di reels, aku lupa tepatnya gimana, tapi intinya kata-katanya begini:

Lessons and the growth that you experience are never spontaneous. It is always meant to be. There is a higher purpose which we will never know until we reach it. So, stop treating your experiences as casual occurrences that just happened and start looking for a deeper meaning. Think about it deeply, only then you will start appreciating it as a beautiful journey meant just for you.

Additional notes:

Tulisan ini harusnya aku post di Bulan Agustus, sayangnya akhir September baru kesampaian dan overlapped sama satu cerita lain yang juga mau aku bagikan. So, aku putukan untuk bahas dipost-an yang ini juga biar sekalian, karena temanya juga masih berkaitan.

Hari ini 28 September 2023 – Hari di mana film Petualangan Sherina 2 resmi tayang di bioskop-bioskop di Indonesia.

Film Petualangan Sherina season 1 punya makna sangat dalam buat kehidupan aku. Mulai dari ceritanya, pemandangan dalam filmnya, lagu-lagunya, sampai karakter Sherina nya itu sangat melekat di hatiku.

Aku masih ingat aku dapat VCD film Petualangan Sherina dari tanteku sebagai hadiah ulang tahun dan karena aku sudah jadi anak kecil yang baik dan nggak rewel waktu nemanin tante-tante ku kontrol ke dokter kandungan di Banjarmasin. Pulang dari klinik aku dibeliin VCD Petualangan Sherina, yang besoknya langsung aku tonton sepulang sekolah, dan terus berlanjut sampai beberapa hari berikutnya nonton berulang sambil bergantian ngundang teman sekelasku buat nonton bareng. Sampai akhirnya secara nggak sadar aku mulai memanifestasikan Sherina di dalam diriku, mulai dari yang sederhana ngikutin tren bawa bekal coklat cha cha warna warni ke sekolah, terus pakai jam sport warna kuning, sekolah pake ransel hingga pada titik di mana aku tuh nggak mau jadi perempuan menye-menye dan lemah karena Sherina itu KEREN!!! Dari situ aku mulai berontak tiap mamahku mendadani aku atau ngasih aku pakaian yang too girly and too revealing (percaya gak percaya aja bro dulu mamahku suka membajui aku pas SD pake tank top, rok kembang-kembang, baju jala-jala, dll -__-), pernah juga terjadi huru hara dan keributan karena mamahku maksa aku buat foto di studio terus daftar model-modelan yang saat itu emang lagi tren di Kapuas (adik ku Oya pernah ikut agensi model itu pada masanya).

Secara nggak sadar itu tuh kebawa sampai aku remaja dan dewasa, karena Petualangan Sherina itu kaya comfort movienya aku, yang kalau aku gabut tiba-tiba aja aku nonton ulang ini film. Salah satu yang paling aku sadari adalah aku selalu yang paling less girly di antara beberapa temanku, aku nggak punya jam tangan cewek, sampai sekarang jam tangaku pasti yang modelnya sporty kalo nggak casio illuminator ya merk eiger, kemana-kemana juga lebih suka pake ransel atau sling bag eiger, lalu berhoodie, sepatu juga lebih nyaman pake sneakers. Sumpah ini tuh style ternyamannya aku. Persis dah potongan Sherina waktu lari ke hutan bareng Sadam :D (Ini juga style aku kalau bolak balik motoran aja dari Timpah-Palangka atau Palangka-Timpah). Kalaupun aku bergaya di luar outfit ini, itu ya karena aku sudah cukup dewasa untuk memilah dan memilih apa yang harus aku gunakan.

Intinya Petualangan Sherina tuh seberkesan itu untuk aku!!!

Lalu aku excited banget dong waktu tahu bakalan ada project film Petualangan Sherina season 2 – dan yang paling bikin aku excited lagi adalah fakta bahwa syutingnya diambil di Kalimantan Tengah. Sebagai seorang hardcore fans of Petualangan Sherina, jujur aja ini tuh rasanya istimewa sekali untuk ku. It feels so close to home <3 seperti film ini ditakdirkan untuk aku hahahaaaa

Oh iya, di tulisan sebelumnya aku ada bahas kan ya 3 bulan favorit aku: Desember, Juni, dan Agustus.

Kalau di bagian sebelumnya aku udah cerita panjang lebar soal Agustus dan ajaibnya Agustus 2023. Maka kali ini izinkan aku berbagi kisah tentang bulan kelahiranku – Juni - khususnya Juni 2023.

Oke jadi di tahun 2023 ini aku menginjak usia 27 tahun. So close to 30 ygy. Pencapaaian terbesarku sekaligus hadiah ulang tahunku buat diriku sendiri di bulan kelahiranku itu adalah berangkat ke Jakarta buat nonton Konser idol K-POP untuk pertama kalinya.

Ini konsernya WOODZ btw, ex-member X1. Kembali dan kembali aku suprise sendiri, kaya mana menyangka di tahun ini aku ngeliat WOODZ live terus di tanggal debutnya WOODZ di X1 (27 Agustus) aku ada di Bali lagi (tempat di mana aku nonton konser debutnya 4 tahun lalu).

DAN aku berangkat pake uang aku sendiri, guys (mana mau mamahku membantu aku untuk fangirling yang menurutnya tidak berguna) hahaaha Aku bangga banget sama diri aku. Perjalanan fangirling ku tidak mudah, perjalanan hidupku apalagi, tapi ya bisa sampai ada di titik ini bikin aku bersyukurr sekali...

Lalu, sebuah ide cemerlang muncul di otak ku – yaitu nyempatin pergi ke Bandung dengan waktu yang sangat mepet.

Jujur dari kecil aku tuh pengen banget ke Bali dan Bandung. Bali karena keindahannya dan karena lagu masa kecilku yang dinyanyiin kak Cindy Cenora. Bandung tentu saja karena Sherina. Tapi nggak tau kenapa, ke Bandung ini tidak pernah terealisasi. Sulit banget bahkan setelah aku punya banyak teman virtual -- bahkan pacar virtual domisili Bandung :D

Kalau 20 tahun lalu, di bulan kelahiranku aku dapat hadiah VCD Petualangan Sherina, maka di 2023 aku menghadiahkan diriku satu perjalanan menuju lokasi bersejarah Petualangan Sherina yaitu Lembang wkwkwk

Thanks to sahabat aku, PAW, yang mau-mauan aja diajakin mewujudkan obsesi masa kecil temannya ini, modal nekad pake gmaps dan motor pinjaman dari tantenya PAW kami pun berpetualang; menembus macetnya Bandung daerah Pasteur ke Setiabudi udah berasa simulasi GTA city, kemudian berlanjut sampai ke lokasi tujuan utama kita yaitu Peneropongan bintang, Bosscha. Sadly, nyampe di sana ternyata udah nggak dibuka untuk umum.. TAPI serius, bisa sampe gerbangnya aja aku sudah sebahagia itu.
