#Personalised Uni Bag

Text
Ok so I had this really weird dream where I went to visit this other uni campus and the staff kept on trying to get me into this one underground study room and to hang up my bag and stuff. But I’m really funny about not leaving it laying around so I kept it on my shoulder which they weren’t happy about but I wouldn’t budge on.
I was there for a few hours but after a while I realised that every desk was personalised and behind some of these desk dividers were mattresses where people had clearly been sleeping.
I left the room to get some air because it was so odd. Why personalise all these spaces so much?
Well I found out that the room is cursed and needs a certain amount of people in it at all times? I ended up running from staff to try and escape but I got lost so I decided: hide in plain sight. I went back to the cursed room because they’d never suspect it. Turns out I was only able to leave because there’s something about bag handles that acts as a key for you to be able to get in and out?? But people can’t just bring a bunch of bags in to free people because the room still requires a certain amount of people at all times.
Anyway, my bag has like extendable straps? So you couldn’t see but there was another set of handles in the bag.
I ended up being found and of course this particular staff member was trying to get me to trade places with his number so I started running again. BUT as I did, this guy who looked EXACTLY like Alhaitham grabbed onto my bag and ran out with me? And he had this whole escape plan already so he led the way and we just walked out casually? But we didn’t realise one of my earrings fell off so we started being chased again but he knew the way and he managed to escape the campus and get to town??
And then we got on a train idk where to because I was too busy thinking an how hot he is bc he was literally like the irl version of Alhaitham hehe <3

Starting University
Having started uni last year, I can really relate to the anxieties/fears that people have towards the start of September. So I decided to make this post which is a compilation of tips and advice I’ve accumulated over my first year of university. I hope it’s helpful :)
What to bring
it’s a difficult thing to strike the right balance between bringing too much and too little, but my advice is to err on the side of too little, as you can always buy things you’ve missed once you arrive (the only exception imo being decorations for your room from home)
a doorstop is a must! when you’re moving in my literal number 1 tip is to have your door propped open virtually at all times - it makes such a difference because then people will just stop to have a chat, or wave and say hi as they go past, and it just sends a friendly vibe
things that will personalise your room and make it feel like your space. This was one of the biggest things that combated my homesickness, because I created a sort of safe space for myself. So for me this was cosy lighting with lots of lamps (I brought 2 in addition to the one my uni provided) and fairy lights, posters on the walls, books on the shelf, pictures of my friends, cushions and blankets, and lots of cute mugs
in that vein, get some command strip hooks that you can stick onto the wall - I used small ones to put my fairy lights up and larger ones to hang my jackets on
for posters and pictures for the wall, I used blu tack
keep the storage boxes that you use to move all your stuff in with (I put shoes in one, misc stuff in another), and drawer dividers are a really handy buy too (I used them to separate my underwear)
don’t forget important documents/ID like your passport and driving license. There’s usually quite a lot of admin when you first arrive so it’s important to have these kept safely with you
if you drink, bring some alcohol and a mixer you like for pres
a bumbag for nights out is pretty essential - it’ll keep your phone, ID, keys and money safe, as they’re difficult to steal from and far more secure than your pockets!
make sure you have a medicines bag stocked with paracetamol, plasters, antiseptic cream etc, because the last thing you want when you feel sick for the first time at uni is to have to go out and buy medicines
I brought earplugs because I like quiet when I’m trying to fall asleep, and halls of residence are not exactly known for that.. also, walls are thin
there are nowhere near enough coat hangers provided, so bring some from home
I also 100% recommend taking a bike to uni! I cycle everywhere around campus because it’s faster and good exercise, and I also sometimes cycle into town rather than getting the bus (& if you bring a bike, bring a helmet, front and back bike lights, and a D-lock! They’re worth investing in I promise)
lastly, I recommend that the first thing you do when moving in is to do a big food shop! I arrived on a Friday night and planned for my parents to take me food shopping on the Saturday, but I forgot I needed something to eat for dinner on Friday and ended up having a freebie pot noodle that was in my room...
What not to bring
shared items like a kettle, toaster, toastie maker, blender etc (until you’ve communicated with your flatmates)
before I came to uni, in august I think, a few of my flatmates and I made a group chat on facebook (unis normally make a fb page with your halls of residence and you can find your flatmates from there), and sorted out who’d bring shared items. It was really helpful because the last thing you want is 5 kettles taking up loads of space in the kitchen!
if you’re not able to/don’t want to message your flatmates before arriving at uni, I still wouldn’t bring these items as you can buy them once you’re there if no one else has them (which is pretty unlikely)
a bin and desk chair - they’re provided
too many clothes/shoes: I know it feels like you’re going away for a really long time but try to think realistically about how many things you’ll actually wear. Instead focus on making sure you have lots of layers, and clothes for all weather possibilities
an iron - I literally never ironed once while at uni - and yes, that’s as a person whose course requires me to go on placements and look formal fairly regularly
unless you’re an avid baker I wouldn’t bring baking equipment like scales/mixing bowl etc. I only had a measuring jug and a roasting tin, which was enough to make cookies ;)
Freshers
Ah, freshers. The most over-hyped week(s) in existence. As an introvert, it was an exhausting period of time for me. Although I had fun meeting people and at the events I went to, it left me drained, and I also felt pretty anxious a lot of the time, especially during the first week. To be honest, I didn’t enjoy the whole freshers experience because it was, frankly, pretty overwhelming. Just remember that freshers is not at all representative of the rest of your uni experience, and it’s okay if you don’t love it.
Meeting people/making friends
I was equally excited and nervous when I moved in, and I was particularly worried, as most people are, about making friends. The first thing to say is that everyone’s in the same boat. Everyone is anxious to be sociable and make friends, especially during freshers, so make the most of this time to start conversations and get chatting with people. Although don’t feel you need to make long-lasting friendships during freshers - often people find that their uni friends aren’t the people that they hung out with in freshers.
Don’t feel pressured to go to loads of parties/nights out if it’s not your scene; there are other ways of meeting people, the biggest one being societies. My biggest regret from first year is that I didn’t try enough societies - I did choir and went to one netball training session (rip) because I thought I didn’t have time for anything else. I wish I’d taken up more opportunities and tried more things, because it’s such a great way of meeting like-minded people (and people from other courses)!
When to leave your parents
This is a difficult one, and I know this was one of the things causing me the most anxiety. I’d read somewhere that you should just say bye to your parents when they drop you off and get on with it, because you have to grow up now. The truth is, everyone is different and needs a different amount of time in order to say goodbye. For me, my parents helped me move in on the Friday, and stayed the night at a hotel while I went on my first night of freshers, a pub crawl. The next day they helped me with my food shop/buying other things I needed before they left in the afternoon. I know both people who spent the whole first weekend with their parents, not coming to any freshers events, and people who said goodbye the minute they walked into their flat. Neither choice is right or wrong - just think about what’s best for you. I knew I needed a bit more time but simultaneously wanted to be part of the big first night, and I found a happy compromise for me.
Dealing with homesickness
I was really homesick for, I’d say, the first 2 weeks. One of my big mistakes was that my dad came up a week after I’d moved in to bring my bike (don’t regret that bit, my bike is great), and it was actually more difficult saying bye that time around. It was wayy too soon. My advice is:
give it a bit of time before you see your family
facetime/call home regularly to start off with, and over time it will naturally become less often. For the first week, I facetimed my parents every night, and after that it was every 2-3 days, and by the end it was every one or two weeks
get busy! the absolute worst thing you can do is isolate yourself in your room doing nothing, because it gives you too much time to overthink. Especially for the first few weeks, keep yourself busy and take advantage of all the events on offer
Things to make sure you do during the first week or so:
Even though freshers is super busy, it’s important to make time to do some bits of admin
Register at your university’s GP/health centre
Find out where the student support service is/the telephone number you can reach them on
Get a phone number for maintenance of halls because you never know when something might go wrong (on literally my first night the shower didn’t work)
Find the library, cheapest food shop, launderette, and explore campus
The academic jump
The jump from school to university can be quite a considerable one. It’s not only harder content, but also a different way of learning from what you’re used to in school, with much more reliance on independent study. Don’t worry too much about the first term, because that tends to be a sort of re-cap where they bring everyone onto the same page. Use that time when the content is not as difficult to 1) have fun and do lots of non-academic things, and 2) attempt to develop your style of learning. People underestimate sometimes the fact that you have to learn how to learn. So try different things and see what works for you, so that by the time you start the ‘real work’ you’ll be a bit more prepared. Tips:
have a system - by second term I decided that my system was to make a summary, somewhat condensed document of notes for each week, which I filed in folders for each module. This works for my course, but what the system is doesn’t matter - the most important thing is to have a tangible goal of independent work (usually notes) that you want to achieve
keep on top of things - I was sooo bad at this in first year, and have resolved to change things next year... I would do my set work for the week, but I didn’t do my weekly summary notes until the end of term and it was a mad rush. It would have saved me so much pain to do it as I went along
pay attention to feedback and learn from your mistakes
lecturers are an amazing resource and they love their subject, so if you have a question ask them! (either in person after a lecture/seminar or if that’s too much send an email)
make friends with your coursemates - you’re all in it together and it’s amazing how much you can learn from each other
BACK YOUR WORK UP! it doesn’t matter if it’s an external hard drive, dropbox or google drive as long as it’s somewhere!
Cooking/Food
bring recipes or a cookbook - these are pretty essential for when you’ve run out of ideas (or if you haven’t done much cooking before!). My friend got me ‘The Hungry Student Vegetarian Cookbook’ which was great, as is ‘The Green Roasting Tin’. I especially loved the concept of the latter because it’s so simple - put everything in a roasting tin and bang it in the oven
cook in bulk! this is my number 1 tip. Put whatever you don’t eat in tupperware containers and freeze it - then, as my flatmate said, you have prepared your very own ready meals
most people have heard of the ‘fresher five (5kg put on in first year), but this can so be avoided by making sure you have your 5 a day, not having takeaways too often, and not overdoing it with alcohol
as I said, don’t get takeaways too often - it’s tempting, I know, but they’re mega expensive so you’re better off saving it either for when they’ve got a really good deal on, or as a special treat
consider eating less meat - any meat of a good quality is far more expensive than vegetables are! I’m vegetarian and slowly becoming more plant-based as I cut out dairy, and among its other benefits it’s so much cheaper
making meal plans can be really useful - you don’t have to have an elaborate chart, but when you do your weekly food shop, plan what you’re going to eat during the week. This also helps reduce your food waste
freeze your bread! I got this tip from @muststudy, who has a great post on cooking tips linked below, but this is such a good idea to stop your loaf going mouldy before you can eat it
cook with your flatmates/friends - around dinnertime was by far the most social time in my flat, as we all congregated in the kitchen to cook and have a chat. If you have similar tastes to a flatmate, consider shared cooking! My friend and I virtually took it in turns to cook for each other, or we’d cook a shared meal together, and it made what can become a chore a fun thing to do
General
There can be a pressure for uni to be ‘the best years of your life’, and to be having a great time 24/7. It might be like that for you, but don’t worry if it’s not - it’s perfectly normal to feel sad or lonely at times. I definitely did. If you feel that way, reach out to people and don’t keep things bottled up. Try to make the most of opportunities, and enjoy this exciting and novel period of time in your life :)

What winksy gets u when u graduate from graduate school?
He was right beside you throughout your three year career at university and when you graduated he was over the moon for his girl and so proud of you.
For the whole day he was right beside you and smiling in complete awe of you and can’t help but keep gushing about how proud he is of you.
As you got home after a long eventful day, you instantly slipped your shoes off and fell on the sofa. You saw Harry walk towards you with something hidden behind his back.
He hands you white roses in a shape of a bear with a black tie and a black graduation hat sat on his head. You instantly gush over it before kissing him and thanking him. He then gives you a framed personalised skyline of your university city with your name and Uni and the three years. He then handed you a big Chanel bag, you instantly opened it and saw it was a bag that you had been pining for months. You instantly getting emotional as you thanked him even though you told him he didn’t have too. Then he gave you an envelope which was a plane ticket to America, to Disneyworld. You instantly jumping on him as you peck him and thank him.

hey, so exciting you're headed off to uni! i definitely agree re 2 sets of bedding that's really helpful when one set is in the wash and same goes for bath towels and tea towels. i bought a mattress protector too, a laundry bag is useful. in terms of personalisation i had one colourful blanket and some posters and photos to make my room feel homey without taking up too much space :) your accom might have restrictions on things like fairy lights. pack whatever you need to feel happy and comfy!
Lmao I’m so sorry I didn’t respond, idk why I didn’t see this before, but THANK YOU for the advice, I got myself some fairy lights and I’m just hoping my accomodation lets me have them. I got a laundry basket which is nice because I can use it as storage for bringing stuff to uni hdkakcj
Thank u so so much, I hope ur having a good day!!

Routine Tips for Commuter Students
Having a daily routine has been proven to have a positive impact on your mental health. With the erratic, weirdly dispersed hours that often come with the uni and college experience, scheduling tasks and classes can be tricky to manage, particularly with the added complications of extra curriculars and part time jobs. As a commuter student, it can be especially difficult to build and sustain a healthy routine, given the added complication of travel- here are some tips on how to devise, and stick to, a manageable schedule!
Have a regular sleep/ wake schedule. for instance, I aim to be in bed for 10-10:30 p.m. to wake up at 7 a.m. the following morning. Even if your hours demand different leaving times, having added leeway in the mornings is perfect for a (relatively) stress- free commute as I am never running for my train!
Devise a realistic morning and evening routine. Whether it’s cleaning your face, or showering, keep loosely allotted times dedicated to morning and evening tasks. This will help you establish realistic goals, as opposed to madly rushing through all that you have to do and hoping for the best: having personalised routines ensures that you can make the best out of your free time in a way that suits you. As an “evening person”, I like to set aside my mornings for skincare and makeup in order to allow myself to wake up properly, and in the evenings I go to the gym, shower, read for fun and pack my bag for the following day; a “morning person” may perform bigger tasks like exercise at the beginning of their day.
“Build in” your self- care tasks. Take out a couple of hours each day to unwind- perhaps this is setting aside time for friends and family, exercising, joining a society or even just Netflixing. It’s vital to dedicate time to vegging out and resting your brain with something totally removed from uni.
If possible, dedicate one day a week to “non- school” activities. Given the vast amount of time students are supposed to dedicate to independent study and research- based tasks, it can be tempting to disperse tasks across the week, encompassing weekends. One solution to this is to keep one day sacred, totally removed from degree work! As a commuter student with erratic hours and a part- time job, I take my Mondays off, completely. I don’t travel up to London, I meet with my boyfriend, I have a lovely gym session, I read my book, and I spend time with my family.
Keep a planner/ organiser. Whether paper- based or digital, the virtues of having a planner are insurmountable; take a half hour or so out of the beginning each week to plan the days ahead, and have your planner to hand to jot down changes to, or additional, events as they are mentioned. The act of writing down your to- do’s, as opposed to trusting your memory, is definitely a step towards stress- free routine maintenance. I like to use the Moleskine Weekly Notebook- with your week- to- view on one side, and a notes page on the other, it’s perfect for planning on the go.
Organise your notes in order to keep on track. Such admin is vital to keeping up a routine- keep a digital file or easily portable binder per module, and for smaller modules, use a notebook. If you’re a paper- free student, keep a small notebook on hand lest disaster strikes, and if you’re a paper- based student, consider investing in a lightweight, portable laptop or tablet just in case. At the end of a uni day, take the time to organise your class notes.
Plan your interim times. Often the times between classes can be pretty enormous- on Thursdays, I have five hours to kill between my morning and afternoon seminars! So plan ahead- run some errands, or catch up on readings or projects.

28 questions tag.
rules: tag the person who tagged you, answer the questions and tag people!
i was tagged by @atom-heart-brother hi i love your blog title i never told you but on three separate occassions i was like, yes.
How tall are you? 158cm What colour and style is your hair? dark brown, the style of a boy who’s been stranded on the dunkirk beach for the past week What colour are your eyes? brown Do you wear glasses? i own them and i wear them when i feel like seeing the world in sharp and vivid colours-- most of the time however i’m just like fuck it Do you wear braces? i do wear suspenders 👉  What is your fashion style? tops that are too big for me with lots of layers to the point where i lose any sign of a real corporeal form with skinny pants and then dress shoes for all occassions (have them in brown, black and red, just to be sure) and goofy iconique hat if i feel like bothering w/ carrying it around. also tote bags. my entire personality is my tote bags (i have two most iconic ones currently-- one that says “i think everybody should like everybody”, a quote by andy warhol, and then one that has like a picture of an ancient god in very dramatic colours and the words “polepši se”, which i guess would translate to “repent” but also “better yourself”-- which. pretentious. lovely. also i have plain tote bags that i personalise with my handful of buttons. it’s a lot) Full name? still trying to make one up When were you born? the year that the scientists determined pluto was a planet only to change their mind later-- 1999 but truly my soul is older than that who am i kidding i have been stuck here for eons Where are you from and where do you live now? i am from a town in western bohemia but currently am studying up north because sudetenland is my life What school do you go to? university What kind of student are you? since starting uni i have determined that i am not sure where i’m going or how long am i going to be alive for and thus just want to make the most of what’s given to me-- so i’m really excited about any opportunity to learn even if i struggle and ocassionally do just flop into a hole and take a while getting back up-- i like to think that even if i’m not the best student i help bring the collective together? that’s my one upside as a person Do you like school? in theory i am excited about it as an institution of opportunity but the way it is structured is hard to follow, for me personally What are your favourite school subjects? art history and virtual reality Favourite TV shows? in the flesh is a good one, firefly a classic and i have recently binged anne with an e and i have not seen a period drama i would enjoy more tbh-- also old new doctor who always gets me emo Favourite books? the book of lost things by john connolly, neverwhere by neil gaiman, in watermelon sugar by richard brautigan and then there’s all the collections of czech poetry that no one cares about Favourite past-time? wandering around without direction, alone, reading, reading up on the most random topics, admiring my succulents & cacti, doodling when the mood is right and poetrying when there is something i need to remember Do you have any regrets? i didn’t really make the most of high school but to be fair-- i’m not sure if i was in a position where i could have done more. i usually just leave the past to the past and only ever cringe at the little things i said whilst completely aware that. they are just little things and i likely shouldn’t. rationally i have no regrets. there. Dream job? art forgery scientist, art historian, curator, farmer or a hermit. probably hermit. sounds most like me. hermit with many books. Would you like to get married? i wouldn’t wish it upon anyone to have to spend their life with me so no. Would you like to have kids someday? dont think i’ll be here for that long/don’t think i’ll ever have a stable enough income/would consider adopting if the first two points did work out however How many? like one or two, there’s only so much you can handle, alone. Do you like shopping? secondhand bookstores are heaven. people who run them are angels. i have never met a person in those stores that wouldn’t be absolutely fascinating and lovely. actually! that’s another thing that i’d love to do -- run a secondhand bookstore. What countries have you visited? The UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Slovakia. aside from ireland & germany though i’m not sure i’d count the other ones because i was young and stupid when i visited, or i didn’t have the time to see much of the country for one reason or other. woe is me. What’s the scariest nightmare you’ve ever had? i was running from a sense of discomfort, it was dark but it was outside, it was the night and the sky was dark but the horizon was red and i kept running and the cold air stung in my lungs and i couldn’t move fast at all. i was running but i moved so slow. Do you have any enemies? i hope not. Do you have a s/o? i have a boyfriend right now currently. Do you believe in miracles? i believe in chance.
I’m tagging a n y o n e who wants to do this-- please feel free, blame me, do as you like, i love you !

Task
What to Consider
For this Room mini brief, there’s a lot I’m trying to consider, before I choose which room to build.
If we only have two walls and the floor, should I allow objects/furniture be positioned where the walls would have been?
How compact should this room be?
Should it be a solid cube or can I change its shape?
Which walls of the room should I remove? If we’re peeing in as if it’s a diorama, then which angle would be best portrayed?
If it’s based on a larger room, should I squish everything together or model the room as it is?
Idea Generation
I love the interior design projects that FZD School of Design students post online, so my mind races when trying to figure out how to build rooms.
I’m also a big fan of Seiji Yoshida (to the point I bought two of his books from Amazon.jp) who is infamous for his ‘Houses with a Story’ series. Looking through his Houses with a Story book, there are too many ideas to just settle for one. I’d like to use the personalisation of his houses/rooms for inspiration, but not use any of his rooms.
So, I’m torn between two rooms. Last summer, I was designing some concept art based on some descriptions from a book. I wound up stopping when Uni kicked in, so I’d like to model what I had from two of the rooms.
Now, I’m a very very boring person, so one of the rooms is just a Japanese classroom (customised at least) whilst the other was an open plan kitchen/living space within a lighthouse.
I decided to go with the classroom.
Research
I researched different Japanese classrooms, where I found that there is in fact a default architectural guideline for how these are built and setup. For example, the hallways tend to be on the side of the building, for air flow and keeping the temperature cool.
So what we see in anime/manga/JDramas/video games, is pretty accurate and a general rule.
I created a moodboard of stock images, screenshots and images from articles, of different schools that show how the standard can be personalised.
As I’ve seen a lot of classrooms from the modern era, I’d like to build a room using the standard from the Showa era. This would include mostly wooden furniture and pre-mid-80′s technology.
Using Japanese shopping sites, I found the standard classroom furniture in different angles but also their dimensions.
Whilst not placed in my moodboard, in Seiji Yoshida’s book, ‘Yoshida Seiji Art Works & Perspective Technique’, Yoshida illustrates the dimensions of the classroom proper. Being typically 3-metres high, secondary windows starting at 2-metres high, main windows at 90cm high, traditional Japanese doors being 180cm high but modern at 2-metres, etc. I’d like to use this as a basis. If the room must be a cube and is 3-metres high, then the X & Z dimensions must also be 3-metres.
Using the dimensions of the furniture in the moodboard, I illustrated a mock-up of how the room could look. Although there’s also a lot of wiggle room for change and extra customisation.
Whilst I much prefer to plan ahead, I feel as though it might be too much of a time killer to dive into some more microscopic details. So I’ll be adding the personal touches (such as textbooks, storage fillers, posters, pencil cases and bags, etc) as I go.
After this room, I should become an expert at modifying the standard cube!

Chapter 9
——————
You walked hand in hand down to the pub later that night. It was bitterly cold and even though the ice had melted from the rain, the water on the ground was quickly freezing up again. You arrived at the pub and Greg got the drinks while you went through to the lounge where the band was playing and sat down.
"I think it might be just us watching..." Greg came though and placed the drinks down. "You were right. I think if you combined both our ages together, we'd still be younger that the youngest old person here." You both giggled and sipped away on your drinks as the band went through a sound check. "You looking forward to Christmas break?"
"I am! Although I have a mountain of work to do," you rolled your eyes "What about you?"
Greg nodded as he slid up his glasses to the bridge of his nose "Not a lot of work to do but I'll work on a few pieces when I'm at home, keep out of the road of my family." He nervously laughed before gulping down a mouthful of beer.
"Do you two have a song request? Since you seem to be the only ones watching..." the lead singer chortled and rubbed the back of his neck.
You looked over to Greg who shrugged a shoulder "Anything by Ed Sheeran," you smiled.
The man replied with an 'alright' before turning back to his band and mumbling what to play. After playing a few notes on various instruments the main singer stomped his foot for a beat before he started singing 'Castle on the hill'. Your feet and fingers tapped along to the beat, your shoulders gently bopping before you belted out the chorus with the band. "I'm on my way! Driving at ninety down those country lanes, singing to 'Tiny Dancer'. And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real. We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill!"
Greg was taken by surprised at how good of a singer you were. The band was just as surprised, you noticed the lead singer holding out the microphone for you. You turned to Greg who only encouraged you to get up and sing. "Really?" You asked with a smile forming.
Greg nodded "Yeah!" You bit down on your lip and rushed to the stage, the singer held out his hand and pulled you up. He handed you a microphone, you quietly sung along with him, feeling shyness set in. That was until Greg started to loudly clap and cheer at you. You couldn't help but cover your face for a moment as your cheeks burned.
You sang the final verse, your eyes locked with Greg's as you sang the words "And I miss the way you make me feel," your breath hitched when you saw him sing along with you "It's real."
You meant it. You wonder if he did too.
The song finished and the band cheered along with Greg, the patrons at the bar briefly clapped their hands together. The lead singer helped you off the stage "We can play another one of his songs for you," he glanced up to Greg before looking back at you "How about a slow one?"
You didn't have much of a choice as before you knew it the band had started playing and Greg had taken your hands in his "Lets see if our practice while watching 'beauty and the beast' came in handy..." he whispered in your ear, his breath lingering on your earlobe and sending a chill down your spine. You couldn't help but gravitate towards him, the side of your head rested against his chest as he placed his chin on the top your head.
You hummed along with the band as they played 'Hearts don't break around here'. You had never felt so content and happy. "From a spontaneous kiss to this..." Greg could hear the playfulness in your voice.
He pulled back slightly and you mirrored his movements "Well this isn't as spontaneous," he gently kissed your lips "But I still get goosebumps every time my lips touch yours."
"At least it isn't followed by a slap," you smirked and Greg softly chuckled "I'm glad to have met you Greg. You've..." you looked down to the floor with a soft smile before meeting his gaze behind his black rimmed glasses "You've brought me so much happiness, and coffee, over the past few weeks." Greg laughed and shook his head with a smile "I'm going to miss you over the winter break."
"I'll miss you too Y/N," he pressed a kiss to your forehead "But it's only two weeks."
You dramatically gasped "Oh how will I ever survive!" Greg laughed again. You loved making him laugh. It was the most beautiful sound in the world. He held you close again as the song finished, you both stood back to applaud the group on stage. Before leaving to head back to your flat, the band insisted they had a picture with their 'newest band mate'. The four members held you up in front of them as Greg took the photo. "Thanks again!" You waved as you left "Have a good Christmas!"
"You too!" The band called out "We hope to see the both of you when we play our January gig!"
"We'll be there!" You and Greg both shouted out at the same time and then looked at each other with a smile before intertwining your hands and making your way back to the flat.
---
"Ohh-ohh! Hello you two lovebirds!" Mrs Hudson cooed as you both stepped into the apartment building.
"Hi Mrs Hudson! I thought you were on your way to your sisters?" You asked, not noticing Greg shifting on the spot behind you.
"Oh no, I'm getting the train tomorrow morning and meeting her at the train station. Hello Greg!" She waved to the man behind you.
"Hey Mrs Hudson, how are you?" He asked, making polite conversation.
"I'm very well." She flickered her eyes between the both of you before smirking "Have a lovely night!" She called out before shutting her door.
You turned and looked at Greg and bit down on your lip to stop yourself from smiling so much as you dragged him up the stairs. Entering your flat, Greg dropped his backpack on the floor as he removed his jacket and then his shoes. You did the same before leading him through to the living room "Wait here, I won't be a minute!"
Greg watched as you hurried to your bedroom before emerging a moment later with your hands full carrying bags. He raised a brow as you plopped yourself down on the couch beside him "Okay, these three are for your housemates," he took three gift bags off you "I know I haven't met them, but I still wanted to get them a little something."
"You shouldn't have!" Greg looked at the bags before looking at you with a wide grin "You're too sweet." He gave you a quick peck and before he could say anything else, you had handed him another bag.
"That's your surprise!" He looked at it with wide eyes "Open it!" You encouraged him and Greg opens the bag, revealing an art set, coffee and a personalised travel coffee cup. "I wasn't too sure what to get you, I know you use, and consume, those things so I thought-" you were cut off by Greg's lips crashing against yours, his hands pressed to your cheeks.
"I love it, thank you." He pulled away to adore the gifts again "Is this the coffee they use in Sherrinfords?"
"It is," you nodded "I had to fight tooth and nail with Mike to get you a bag of it."
"Well..." Greg ran off to his backpack. When he returned, he returned with a gift bag. He sat back on the couch and handed you it, you laughed as you pulled out the first gift "You weren't the only one who had to fight Mike."
A bag of Sherrinfords coffee.
"Great minds think alike!" You laughed and thanked him before pulling out another gift. You gasped as you pulled out a framed picture of you, the day you spent with Greg at the museum, posing next to the statue. Greg had drawn it for you. "Y-you did this?" You whispered.
Greg nodded with a shy smile "Yeah. It's not much but-"
You cut him off "No, it's so thoughtful and amazing! I'm completely blown away! You're an incredible artist." You placed it o the table "Thank you so much," you kissed him again. A reoccurring habit around him.
"Merry Christmas," he mumbled against your lips. You took a sharp intake of breath when you felt his cool hand grip onto your hip, making you fall back onto the couch. The kiss turned from a sweet one to a passionate one, Greg was hungrily locking his lips with yours. A soft moan escaped your lips and he took the opportunity to brush his tongue between your parted lips- just enough to tease you.
He pulled back for a minute to catch his breath, his glasses were on the verge of falling off his face. Greg noticed your eyes were shut and your lips as well as the surrounding skin was tinged pink and slightly swollen.
You opened your eyes and looked up to him, the soft lights that were on around your living room made him glow. Without saying a word, you stood up and held out your hand. Greg took it and as soon as he stood up, kissed you again. You kissed the entire wall up the hall to your bedroom.
Just as you opened the door Greg's phone rang.
You both pulled back and let out a sigh "It's okay," you smiled "Go and get it, I'm going to quickly change into my pyjamas anyway. It's getting late."
Greg looked over at the clock. Midnight. His guards would be looking for him.
He shut your bedroom book behind him as he rushed to get his phone out of his jacket pocket "What?!" He quietly hissed.
"Where are you?" Mycroft asked on the other end of the phone "You have to be back at the flat. Now!"
"I'm at Y/N's, I'm staying the night."
Greg could hear Mycroft groan "That's all well and good, your highness, but one-we cannot let you stay there without conducting a full sweep of the premises and two-We have to leave in an hour. You go back to the palace tonight, a time where no one will be out to see you leave. We discussed this before you started university."
Greg let out a sigh. Mycroft was right but the young prince had forgotten all about it. "Give me twenty minutes."
Mycroft felt sorry for Greg, he could hear the disappointment in his voice before he hung up the phone.
Greg placed the phone in his pocket and dismally made his way to your bedroom, making an excuse up on the way. When he opened the door, he could help but smile despite feeling down. You were sitting with the blankets pulled up to your chest as you read through a book "Oh sorry!" You placed in your bookmark on the page you were on "Was in a world of my own there for a minute!" You noticed the corner of Greg's mouth twitch upwards before falling again. "What's the matter?"
You crawled to the bottom of the bed and raised yourself up on your knees, becoming almost eye level with Greg. "I've got to go," Greg's words were dripping with disappointment "There's, uh, a pipe burst at my flat. My roommates are waiting on the plumber but since we all go home tomorrow for winter break I've got to go and help them clear up."
"Oh no! I hope it's not too bad." You pecked his lips "Do you want me to come with you and help clear up?"
Greg's heart fluttered in his chest, you were so unbelievably kind. He felt awful not telling you the truth, especially when you were going to go out of you way to help him clear up a burst pipe that didn't even exist. "No, it's okay but thank you." He cupped your cheeks and gave you a long, sweet kiss "Have a good winter break. I'll talk to you every day."
"I will too. Good luck with the pipe situation! See you soon."
He nodded a couple of times before disappearing behind the door, only to suddenly reappear again "I like you, Y/N," his statement made you smile widely "I really like you, a lot."
"I really like you too, Greg. Goodnight."
---
Greg returned to his own apartment, sluggishly dragging his belongings through the door.
"I hope you all are happy, I hate lying to her." Greg mumbled.
The three guards hummed. They knew there wasn't any reasoning with Greg in the state he was in.
"You'll see her soon enough!" John chirped.
"All I wanted was to spend more time with Y/N." Greg placed the three bags in front of his guards "She even went out of her way to buy Christmas gifts for you all despite not meeting any of you. That is how kind she is." Greg walked to his bedroom "Let me know when it's time to go."
The three guards exchanged looks between one another. They couldn't help but feel disappointed in themselves. Perhaps Greg was right about you. But there was only one way to truly evaluate you as a person.
One of them would have to meet you face to face.

Lets just gift each other with positive affirmations Ali: Maybe...Gah Ali: Whatever, whether he deals or doesn't, doesn't change the fact I am with child again and yeah, Caleb's reaction is the least of my worries Ali: I'm going to be going to Uni abroad with 3 kids...damn Ali: If I don't get locked away for my own good, of course Tommy: 😇 Will do Tommy: I reckon that's the goal when he 'makes it' Tommy: scrawl it on my personalised starbies cup and have done babe Tommy: You're grand it'll just be one hell of a plane ride Tommy: 🍀 & 🤞 Tommy: OH SHIT WAIT Tommy: the whole Caleb reaction thing has me thinking...not to be rude but Tommy: it is his yeah? Ali: It better be Ali: Aside from the Drew incident I didn't shag anyone else Ali: and we used a condom Ali: I mighta been several sheets to the wind but I hadn't lost my whole goddamn mind Tommy: thank christ for that Tommy: imagine trying to play happy families with that twat Ali: Amen Ali: Yeah that isn't the life I've signed up for Ali: Bitches forget I already got a ring on my finger, like Ali: Legal or otherwise Tommy: Beyonce is here for your union Tommy: good enough for me Tommy: low key proud of ya not to be an enabler but like Tommy: I'll happily hooray you getting Drew to put something on it too god knows where that fuckboy's been Ali: Thank you! I will take that hooray because I literally had to mum Ro's arse and tell her to do the same every time Ali: AND had to do it in such a way it didn't sound like I was saying as much, like, your boyf is a cheater and we all know it sweetie Tommy: ugh 😷 glad you did though I hear your next door nemesis had to get herself to the clinic sharpish & i don't reckon she'd spread gossip that'd make her out to be riddled Tommy: 🦀🐛 Ali: 🤢😤 Unsurprised on both their behalf there but low-key furious Ali: he knows how that bitch treats Ro, and always has done Ali: there's being a cheat with any random hoe and then there's that...is it me or is that next-level careless? Ali: To the point it looks like he's doing it to hurt her, I'm sure he's just ignorant but, like, what the fuck?!!? Tommy: RIGHT? Tommy: like I don't doubt she ain't telling him all the ins and outs of her childhood drama but still Tommy: even with more brains than biceps he's gotta have a clue or two Tommy: OOOPS ACCIDENTAL COMPLIMENT Tommy: I'm offended on my own behalf Tommy: almost as cringe as once thinking he was hot 🤓😳 kms Ali: Yeah but it ain't like he's not been here...and she's still a cunt to Ro now, so Ali: Tries to be to me but who's listening, Bitch I'm deaf all of a sudden??? Ali: Hahahahaha Ali: He's attractive, to the point its kinda fact more than opinion so I don't think you're alone on that score Ali: If the notches on his bedpost are anything to go by...and I fucked him so can't be judging, consider your sins absolved, no hail mary's needed, maybe a few bloodys when I next pin u down for an IRL debrief? Ali: Oh wait, a bitch can't...I'll make it a Virgin Mary...WHEY!
