Today I bring you guys a lil project I've been working on. A set of fonts based on the languages of Eora that actually have official orthography. Specifically: Aedyran, Engwithan, Huana, and Vailian.

They're free to use, all I'm asking is that you give me a link to whatever (art) project you use these for. Some credit would also be nice.

Here we have the top 25* games of all time.

It is technically the top 29, because in my heart Spelunky is right there with Spelunky 2, Pillars of Eternity is with Pillars of Eternity II, Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry is with Wet Dreams Dry Twice, and Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2 are together.

Technically top 30, if you want to count XCOM: Enemy Within as a separate game to Enemy Unkown.

Naturally, pirates have played a large role in video games too, often appearing as hostile enemies. Fun as it is to beat up a vile NPC with an eyepatch, what most players want is a game that’ll let them step into the role of a pirate, something that’ll scratch that adventurous itch. Where some have sunk to Davy Jones’ Locker, others have sailed on to become fun treasures.

onekaza redraw since i'm replaying deadfire!

Today in “minor Pillars details I love”: the way Onekaza sits her throne. On the one hand, it looks like she’s affecting relaxation; on the other, she takes up so little space. She’s all squished into the corner to the point where there’s enough room for another whole person on that seat! It’s a real reminder of how little she controls - despite nominally holding the highest power position in the city - and how much she and her predecessors have been forced to contort themselves into a framework that’s entirely foreign to them. Even the title of “queen” is a word they’ve adopted to legitimise their claim to sovereignty, alongside all the other structures that go with it. Onekaza’s brother wouldn’t have a title via his sister if they were playing by the rules of their own culture - but that’s how it has to be if they want the traders to take them seriously, so he’s the prince.

Compare that to the way Ruāsare sits when you go to treat with her in Fruitful Alliance - she takes up every bit of available space, leaning toward you instead of away and sprawling all over her chair. The threats she’s facing are external, not internal - her people don’t march in lockstep, but unlike Onekaza, she has no reason to expect a knife in the back. (One of my favourite bits of environmental storytelling: the antidotes you can find in Onekaza’s room.) Ruāsare’s never been in a position where she had to make herself small in front of outsiders, so she doesn’t. She’s also quite contemptuous of Onekaza’s approach, though it doesn’t take too much prompting for her to see the strategic value of appearing to be less threatening than you are.

Since the romance started in PoE II I like to believe Nilde becoming a priest (he was a chanter only in PoE I) was the last straw. we love a pious man and so does Aloth

Me and the hot elf with a tragic backstory I pulled by being kind and showing them compassion and genuine love.

overall i prefer the story of pillars 1 to deadfire, but nearly every conversation in deadfire is absolutely exemplary. all the npcs you meet are oozing with personality, and your dialogue options are so comprehensive.

i really can't think of any rpg i've played that can truly compare.
