I really wanted to focus on how Steve's parents are abusive in a way that is a lot harder to clock.

They're not out there screaming and kicking him out of the house. These people want you to like them, and they lie like they breath.

These are the adults who downplay serious issues, who make you doubt yourself, who smooth things over or even apologize on your behalf as a way to control and isolate you.

If everyone thinks you're terrible, and your amazing, doting, angelic parents are once again swooping in to save you, then your escape routes close up rapidly--which is of course, the whole point. They want their victims to rely on them and them alone.

For a lot of the Party, that's just not an evil they've encountered yet.

Throw in the fact that Steve does in fact, have a head injury, and things get muddy FAST.

It makes for delicious, angst-ridden scenarios and I am delighted everyone's happy to come along for the ride.

You think Michael reads every single comment under that tweet and just assumes people are talking "TV wife schtick" or he knows that we know and proceeds to order Neil a bottle of wine with a bouquet for his service and final verification? Man, Why does breaking his 6 month "No David" fast feel so freakin major now? I just hope this gives him the last push to be as unhinged and supportive as he wants about David, knowing that we'll support them till the end.

I think he knows a bunch of people believes that he’s just “joking” and the other bunch takes him seriously. I think he doesn’t give much of a fuck anymore about what people will say.

To me it looks like MS is done with bullshit. He’s back to talking as much as he wants about DT during interviews, he’s back to promoting him on Twitter if he wants to, and he will be spending time with him during events even if he has to fight DT’s wife for it. I’m going to assume MS was the one who asked NG to drop the “they’re still in love”. I think MS agreed to keep things chill and play the game for DT’s sake (yet he always did his thing eg showing he’s not happy with AL) but things were meant to move forward yet suddenly he was told to separate from DT and he decided he won’t be getting fucked over anymore. Plus at the same time it appears that possibly DT called it quits with GT which means she doesn’t control the narrative anymore and MS doesn’t have to bloody listen. His PR is using AL to sell the happy family story but MS is not playing along with it either.

Basically, you’re doing great sweetie. Keep on doing your thing.

Edit: I feel like DT is the type to care about everyone but himself first so they did the whole poly story to make everyone happy, get the women jobs and let men be more out in the open. But GT got the agent and suddenly started acting like an ass to DT and tried to shove them back in the closet because it wasn’t serving her anymore. So MS said fuck this shit and stopped playing along. And since DT looked on the verge for a while too… he finally snapped too.

i want married! platonic stobin. i want some corporate jobs! steddie. i want a fic where steve runs a company under his familys name or smthn and eddie gets a job there and develops a crush on the office cutie and himbo boss man steve harrington, only for him to figure out that he’s married (”of course hes married”) and in a really healthy relationship with some lady named robin. i want him to meet robin at corporate party and realize “oh this is a lesbian” (because steve is bi and really good at accidentally putting up a straight persona at work, and all of steves flirthing tactics go right over this mans head, but a gay recognizing a lesbian is instant). i want eddie to derail and jump to conclusions and think that robin is just using steve as some coverup and a money bag and obviously poor heterosexual himbo steve has zero clue as to whats going on. 

i want robin and steve to invite eddie over for dinner one day only for him to see a couple of their wedding photos of them in semi formal clothing like their dressed for prom, both in suit, and max contact a hug or a kiss on the cheek. maybe one is robin sitting down with steves head in her lap. (the were half tempted for steve to wear a wedding dress, and robin to wear a tux, but decided it wasnt very subtle. i would love a fic that is just about them trying and sorta failing to have a very heteronormative wedding but they just cant help themselves, can they?)

along the way, they become friends, eddie introduces them to his best friend, chrissy, and eddie is eventually told that steve and robin married as a safe way to conceal their complete gayness from the homophobic agenda (around the same time, before or after, he figures out that robin and chrissy are totally crushing on each other. eddie and chrissy eventually marry with the arrangement that they can be safe and date their neighbors steve and robin under the guise of steve and eddie and chrissy and robin just being “bestfriends” instead of completely and totally gay for one another.

no but if you think about it this WME deal is so damn clever like… aside from the political clout of building his personal brand and really capitalizing on his fame outside of f1 and ferrari, when within f1 he’s always been so intrinsically tied to ferrari it’s almost a given to everyone that he’ll never leave and therefore isn’t even a contender for contract negotiations?

charles is giving himself bargaining power with ferrari at a time when he really needs it to impose changes with his next contract (if he signs) whilst simultaneously giving himself enough personal distance from ferrari that if he ever moves, it won’t be as shocking or hurt his image. sure, all of his big personal sponsors also sponsor ferrari — that gives him power within the team, to an extent. but they’re still ferrari’s too. one could argue that he got them from ferrari and they’d stay with ferrari instead of him if he left. expanding his sponsorship and brand image beyond even just his current sponsors gives him market security.

and he’s doing all this (making the announcement) right after a disaster weekend where a) “he” lost another pole position and b) ferrari publicly fucked him over royally. this is simultaneously a time when he wants to move on from the negative f1 press and capitalize on the sympathy / general feeling of “wow it sure would be great if charles had some more support”. he’s showing up with that support, so people can rally behind him and WME at an opportune moment, and distracting from “bad stats”…

the fact that all this is right after being linked so heavily as a commiserating spirit along with lewis hamilton, the blueprint of global fame beyond f1?
