I’m forever thinking about how it must’ve been such a bittersweet moment for Melody when she regenerated into River…

Because on one hand, she finally gets to call her parents… her parents.

And you can see how long she’s been waiting to say those words. Just how long she’s been waiting to tell them.

But on the other hand, Mels had a face that Rory and Amy would recognise anywhere, in any time and place she came across them.

But now, with no warning, she is River.

And soon, there will come days where her mother and father will look into her face and not recognise her at all. Not yet as River, but not as Mels either.

And how terrifying that must’ve felt.

To know that a day will come where, to Rory and Amy.. as either River Song or Melody Pond, she’ll be nothing but a stranger.

And then, they leave her there. In that hospital in the future, with no way of returning to the life she’d had on earth or of travelling on with them.

It must’ve felt like one of the loneliest things in the world.

But at least she’d finally been able to call Amy her mother.

But you assure you have these gestures to show that you love him and want him to feel valued and appreciated. He gives you a tiny smile before accepting the flowers.

Mello: Before tender offerings like this, Mello can't help but feel terribly out of place. Back at Wammy's, no one cared for him, and in the Mafia, it was all about alliances and interests. So, for him, it's a peculiar sensation—feeling cherished. Despite the mix of vulnerable feelings, he smirks and charmingly takes the gift, not without teasing you for it.

Matt doesn't care for most things; in fact, he barely cares about anything. Definitely, before you gift him the flowers, he swears romantic gestures like this were indifferent to him. However, it feels more than nice to know you're thoughtful enough to make such a gesture. Despite his initial thoughts on the matter, Matt finds himself smiling like a fool.

Near: He's more than happy to have you around. The timbre of your voice soothes him in ways he can't quite grasp. You're aware of this, even though he doesn't always meet your gaze when you speak. His attention only shifts upon hearing the rustle of wrapping paper. He's stunned for a moment before you explain. Near takes the gift gently. "You shouldn't have bothered. Thank you." You smile at him, and he keeps the flowers close until they eventually wither.

For fun Light Fingers question

If the PC completely changed their appearance (for example, using Shapeling Arts), do you think Poor Edward would still be obsessed with them specifically or would his brain melt from the thing he loves no longer physically being there? Obviously the obsession itself wouldn't be gone, that's not how the moon milk works, but would it continue to apply to the person specifically if they don't look like themselves?

This isn't a serious lore question, I just wanna know what you personally think would happen. Let's torture either Edward or the PC for funsies.

Ok. Hold on. 😂😂 Maybe I didn't lay this out as well as I thought I did. (Spoilers for Lessons in Anatomy ch 16 below)

So... In this story, the boys all move away together. The police never catch Samson. They have their little pact of silence, Layne succeeds in gaslighting the shit out of them. They're trying to get on with their lives. For Matt, that means going to school. For Samson and Layne, that meant leaning in to the idea that they couldn't get caught, and continuing to party and behave terribly to women. 

But Matt has known that Samson killed that girl for years now. And to live with that he’s got to have convinced himself that they're not actually so bad. He lives with them. They're in a band together. He's got to be at least a little delulu, right? And maybe a bit of an idiot, the way young men are.

I know I'm clearly projecting as an older woman looking back on my own experiences and people I've known and things I've lived through (nothing this gnarly, thank god, but still) and the bad behavior that boys get away with because they're just "Boys being Boys"... and people just don't seem to care about violence against women, the way they care about other things.

Like, Matt is clearly traumatized himself and was basically held in a hostage situation, but John was actually telling the truth to Reader. And she accepts his truth because it confirmed clues she'd already picked up on. 1) Samson and Layne were predatory creeps 2) Matt was hiding something and drawing dead girls in his sketchbook. 3) Layne and Samson clearly wanted to silence something Matt wanted to tell her about.

I feel like John was justified to be mad? But I think even John sees the subtlety in Matt’s guilt. He didn’t do anything to hurt Matt, like he clearly has with Samson and Layne. John, of anyone though, would appreciate the irony of being a young man flung in a very difficult, very morally gray situation and not really having the power to do the right thing even if he wanted to. He wasn't always a mild mannered drawing teacher...

Black Wolf/Eden/Great Hawk: Vehemently hates anyone who entraps him no matter their reasoning.

Kylar: Does not understand Kylar's motivations. Kylar ends up in prison and Ferdie's glad for it.

Robin: Finds Robins lack of ambition boring. Friendly enough. Would back off if Robin tried to get serious.

Sydney: "Kid who works in the Library."

Whitney: Considers their relationship a contest over who can beat each other up more.

SCHOOL STAFF:

Leighton: Gets addicted to getting spanked and starts getting himself in detention on purpose.

Sirris: Shocked when the new sex shop opens up and Sirris is running it. Impressed by their double life. Feels a little excited buying sex toys from a teacher. Would be attracted to Sirris.

Once Ferdie sees Remy at the Elk/Fox party, he decides they're a villain who just likes to do bad things.
