Fandom: Bad! He was obsessed with Lily and a creep and he stole Lily's patronus! He also bullied Neville!

Lavender Brown: Nice and caring, and gives Ron the affection he deserves. Also does countless brave acts, helps to round up Skrewts, and fights in the DA despite the danger.

Fandom: She should go, she is ruining our ships!1!1!1! (Side note: I do ship Romione, but this anti-Lavender bullshit should stop.)

Cho Chang: Cares about and loves her boyfriend, and simply wants to know how he died because she loves him. Also offers to take Harry to the Ravenclaw common room, and fights in the DA.

Fandom: So annoying, can't she stop crying about Cedric?

Hey gio I accidentally got into an argument about how Rowling, and how she’s not transphobic and how’s she’s misunderstood, do you have a list of reliable sources and evidence to point out she’s not a good person?

okay i want to say that. unfortunately i DID have some discussions similar to this in the past, and they always ended with the other person going "let's agree to disagree :)" and so i know it's a lowkey Lost Cause. however. wanna give out obvious proof? like nothing that can be misread or misunderstood?? like of course i can just throw her twitter link here and call it a day, but again. i've met people who were adamant and kept saying that she was just pro women, well.

sure let's go. putting it under read more because i know that it's very upsetting. we're discussing transphobia, but i also want to lampshade her racism and much more so. yeah.

also point 0.5: i know you want proof of transphobia but i want to remind everyone that she's a bad person through and through. just by reading the book you can see a lot of fatphobia - especially with the dursleys - excusing slavery with the house elves to the point that the only one who's happy with being free is considered "weird" and the one person who wants to fight for their rights being constantly used a a joke, antisemitism with the goblins description, the racism when it comes to non-white characters (the chinese character is literally called cho chang and whatever the fuck she did with the native americans) and much, much more. I won't lie, I still have fond memories of the books from when I read them as a child, but you can't ignore that she really pissed outside the bucket more than once

1. again, just read the books. in harry potter i think it's just something very vaguely hinted with Rita Skeeter being described as masculine and being a character who constantly badmouths and stalks the underage protagonists, and we all know how her main villain in "troubled blood" is what a trans woman is in the eyes of a terf: just a man who crossdresses to enter in women's bathrooms to kill them. there's also her new book where she makes the victim we need to avenge a cartoonist who's killed for being accused of being transphobic, but honestly i didn't read too much into it nor i want to because just the premise makes my blood boil

2. small, but while her rampage on twitter can "be misunderstood" as "her protecting women" ( no it can't, but again. that's what people i discussed with were preaching :^) ), i think the ultimate smoking gun was her blocking stephen king, someone she openly reverred jus a few hours before he stated that trans women are women

3. similarly, Katherine Waterson, the actress who played the main love interest in "Fantastic Beasts", was casually pushed aside after she was very openly went against J.K.'s transphobia. In the latest movie her character was "unavailable" until th very end, as far as I know, where they rushed to close her love arc.

3.5. the actors of Harry, Ron and Hermione and many others were also openly supporting trans people btw, and since she doesn't really have power over them anymore Rowling being absent to the Harry Potter reunion really says a lot to me

6. "Merry Terfmas"

Hi and welcome to a huge backlog of sketches and concept art I’ve have on the computer for awhile that I decided to finally post in one big sketch dump.

So I have fun little thing known as Court of the King where each of the protagonists get to interact with each other through magic reasons. In this said thing, most of the protagonists have grown up and some even have families. With all this in mind, let’s get on with explaining Fusion King Judai.

Judai at this point in his life has been able to move on from what happened during the events of GX. Took a bit of soul searching and therapy but he’s a lot happier now and is content with himself. So much so, he’s now actually teaching others how to duel at his own little set up known as the Duel Lodge. A place for others like him that are Duel Spirit sensitive or are kind of out casts. All are welcome at his humble abode. 

Another thing he has worked out is his relationship with Yubel. The two are pretty chill with each other and are a pretty good team  now. Yubel can even shift forms now at will. Comes in handy with not scaring people off, and blending in better. Bottom line, Yubel is more chill now and only really starts to get unhinged if you try to harm Judai or his family.

Speaking of, another thing Judai has got going for him is his family. After his long journey of soul searching, Judai returned to reunite with his friends to mend some fences... and with Asuka in particular, rekindle a relationship. Which eventually bloomed into a proper romance to eventually marrying her. Leading to them have their two sons, Kichiro Yuki and Raiden Yuki. 

As far as Judai is concerned, his life going pretty good for him. He went through a lot but he wouldn’t have it any other way. 

And that’s basically all there is to it for Fusion King. Now as for what we see here.

Concept art for his final draft and initial draft as Fusion King. First try I wasn’t too pleased with. Felt it wasn’t really flowing all the well design wise. So tried again and well, much happier with him having a longer coat. A nice blend of Supreme King and his old school jacket. Really wanted to show how he basically came to terms with everything. 

Supreme King slight redesign. Nothing major just minor tweaks. Mainly changing the helmet design and re-arranging some of the spikes. Judai can actually take this form if he wishes but it’s rare that he does.

Asuka concept art. Blend of her look from ARC-V and her GX design. She’s a teacher at the academy so gotta look the part.

We got the Yuki boys, Kichiro and Raiden. Both are adorable and precious. Kichiro has his dad’s old jacket and wears it proudly. Raiden isn’t really looking to duel, he’s more into soccer so hence the soccer get up. He’s still a good boy.

Spooky, who is Kichiro’s Duel Spirit companion. He’s a spooky moth kuribo and he wants candy! 

Yubel’s different forms. As stated above Yubel has chilled out so it has allowed some new abilities to come through. Especially for not scaring the boys. (Which Yubel is uber protect of.)

Judai, Yubel and Pharaoh while they were still traveling. (Back before I redesigned Judai so we have the old design of Fusion King.) 

Johan, Cho and Hayato as adults. Johan also did some traveling like Judai but has since settled down and is a pro-duelist. (He has a family of his own to tend too.) Cho and Hayato both work for Industrial Illusion. Cho making model kits of monsters and Hayato being a lead artist of duel monster cards.

Line of the Yuki family all together, ages and heights included.

sei que para a grande maioria, harry potter é um refúgio. ajudou vocês em momentos difíceis, está ligado à memórias boas e etc., entendo porque você é tão apegade, mas você também precisa entender as problemáticas por trás da saga. And here we are with the news on the new chapter of Boruto. We see Sasuke saying that Boruto has become stronger than anyone else and that he wouldn't know what else to teach him more than what he already knows (he's literally a genius; at this point I wonder what the point of his training with Sasuke was since he doesn't come never shown what he taught him and it is assumed that he already knows everything). We see how once again Sasuke outlines his love for Naruto and that he is training Boruto because in him he sees the same eyes and the same determination as Naruto (he is the person who changed him and saved him from darkness and in short the person most important for Sasuke within the team 7). The scene shifts and we see Sasuke and Boruto who are intercepted by the enemies, Sasuke tells Boruto to run away while he is transformed into a tree; recommends him to take care of Sarada. The scene moves to Konoha where we see many characters like Moegi who is transformed into a tree to protect the inhabitants and we also see the leader of these divine trees ask them to decide on a target and so does every tree character e.g. Moegi decides to choose the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, Bug takes Eida and Sasuke aims at Sarada (in short, Sarada is the most important person for Sasuke. So fans expect an intense battle between father and daughter or between master and student). The leader of these divine trees instead decides Naruto as the target (the reason is because his instinct tells him to act like this and because he feels an evolution; yes, I didn't understand either but ok, I'm not surprised by anything anymore). We then have Sumire and Sarada talking to each other about the current situation in Konoha, the conversation is interrupted with the arrival of Boruto who explains that Sasuke saved him despite doubting his memories because he believed in him and also thanks to her. Sarada runs to hug Boruto saying the phrase "you're late, stupid Boruto" who is shocked by the gesture but then reciprocates by saying "sorry, I'm home now". In the meantime we have Sumire witness the scene between the two in silence (needless to tell you that on social media there is nothing but talk about this embrace and how it is the parallel according to the pro enders of the SS during the hospital scene because once again people do not accept the fact that a non-canon ship is present in the intentions of this manga and therefore they tend to deny the obvious parallelism with the NS just because Naruto did not return Sakura's embrace or because the ship did not become canon and therefore it is impossible for them that BS will have the same treatment). I'll be honest, I don't give a damn about these parallels and I would really prefer that NS wasn't part of this rubbish but here we're talking about totally denying the evidence even when we don't like it. It's been pointed out a thousand times that Boruto is like Naruto and Sarada is literally Sakura 2.0 with all her flaws removed. I also like to point out how the author himself highlights the nickname that Sarada gives to Boruto as soon as she sees him again, i.e. "Baka" which is exactly the same as the one Sakura uses with Naruto. I also hear people say that Sarada has feelings for Boruto while Sakura only loves Sasuke and sees Naruto as a friend and yet when evidence is shown that Sakura really liked Naruto it always comes back to brotherly love; or that while Boruto reciprocated Sarada's gesture, Naruto did not do it with Sakura and therefore it is not the same (perhaps because the situation was different and while in the first case it is a comforting hug in the second we see a reaction of shock?) . do you see the double standards here? I'm sure that if the BS doesn't become canon in the end anyone would agree to compare it to the NS but given that this isn't the case and that since the beginning of the manga the story has been set up with Sarada as Boruto's love interest and him as her protector, people will always find justifications to give grist to their own mill

slave race that canonically enjoys slavery so as to remove any moral imperative to question the ethics of slave labor. conflation of appearance with ethics by making all the evil characters ugly + all the good characters pretty. fatphobia [see previous point re: dursleys, umbridge, etc]. remadora. weird exceptionalism politics of remus lupin's character (werewolves are bad and evil, but this nice guy's the exception bc he hates himself for being a werewolf and acts 'civilized'!) + also characters like hagrid + firenze (giants + centaurs both portrayed in negative ways, unless they're exceptions who disavow the 'natural' traits of their race + serve wizards in some way). also the fact that werewolves were supposedly an AIDs analogy + their leader is a predator who targets children...hello homophobia. one-dimensional female characters. cho chang. pro-prison + cops [azkaban is only bad when good guys accidentally get put there; but we need it to exist because we need to send bad guys there!!]. antisemitism. weird stigmatizing portrayals of 'insanity'/mental illness. boring chosen-one plot. reproductive futurism built in 2 the foundations of the story. i am sure there is more but that is all just the stuff that immediately pops into my head <3

You can separate the art from the artist until their harmful politics and ideals begin leaking into their works.

A lot of times, artists and writers WILL leave their ideals in their works. That's not my point here. My point is that you can separate the art from the artist until they start weaponizing their work with their harmful views.

For example, we'll compare Dr. Seuss to JK Rowling.

On one side, we have a man who deeply cared about issues that affected his daily life. He was a leftist, a war veteran, a husband, and an author.

Dr. Seuss

Illustrated political cartoons during WWII, specifically supporting Roosevelt

Wrote Horton Hears a Who ad an allegory for the American post-war occupation of Japan

Sued the pro-life movement for using Horton's quote, "how small" on their propaganda stationary

His view on kids, "You have 'em, I'll entertain 'em"

Purposefully wrote the beginnings of his stories WITHOUT a moral in mind, quoting "Kids can see morals a mile away"

Continuing on that point, he wanted to view his stories as subversive rather than making an obvious remark within his works

A lot of his books have anti-consumerism, (the sneetches), racial equality (the butter battle book), arms race (yertle the turtle), and economic materialism (how the grinch stole christmas) allegories that fly over children's heads in favor of purposefully written morals that are intended for his younger audiences.

Point: Dr. Seuss never weaponized his writing. He never outright talked about things in his books to kids that were deemed inappropriate. In fact, a lot of his works were colorful and imaginative and weren't at all trying to teach specific moral issues. (What Was I Scared Of? Is a personal favorite of mine that teaches you how to fave your fears)

JK Rowling, on the other hand, decided to unapologetically use harmful stereotypes and politics in her works.

JK Rowling:

Admitted multiple times during interviews that goblins are a Jewish allegory

The only Irish character in her book is a harmful racial stereotype in that Seamus Finnigan not only has a stereotypical Irish name, he regularly explodes.

The only Jewish character in her book is Anthony Goldstein. Which is another rather harmful stereotype.

The only Asian character's name is Cho Chang.

The only Indian characters' names are Padma and Pervati Patil.

Hermione's protest movement Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare was named that way on purpose so other characters could call it SPEW and make fun of her. Insisting the house elves were better off working in slavery and they were happier that way, using a fired house elf (Winky) ad a harmful narrative device to try and defend the pro-slavery mindset within the Wizarding world

Uncomfortable Nazi allegories with Voldemort being a Magic Hitler

Attempting equality after her books were already published in an attempt to paint herself in a better light (tweeting that Dumbledore is queer, Hermione is black, etc.)

TERF behavior patterns that ended up in her publishing several radical publications explaining why trans people should die

So. There's a line to be drawn here.

Dr. Seuss illustrated a lot of commentaries on socio-economic issues in the WWII Era. Prominent and relevant issues. But he also taught important morals to kids in his writing while being subversive and rather imaginative in his books. They were obviously children's books and never swayed from children's books.

But there's something uncomfortably political about Harry Potter and that's why I can't separate it from JKR.

Context: Thor nearly kicked the bucket on a mission. Loki freaked out when Thor returned in a bloody heap. Theo is now navigating the aftermath.

The Sky Turned Black

The Emergency Department may as well have been ransacked.

It was the first time Theo experienced a code black in The SHIELD facility - when there were more patients than resources. Wrappers for supplies covered the floor, as did blood. Towels to soak up the aforementioned blood were haphazardly scattered about, as were discarded gloves and protective gear - they had such a high volume of patients that they didn’t even have time to properly dispose of their protective gear in a bin, instead tossing it on the floor so they could focus on putting on the new gear to ensure they could keep treating patients.

She would have to bake the janitorial staff a cake as a thank-you for cleaning up after such a busy day.

Glancing at the clock, Theo let out a heavy sigh.

11:37 PM.

It had been 25 hours since the jet bringing the most critical patients returned. Multiple jets followed, each with more patients who needed a level of care that couldn’t be found in other hospitals.

Somehow, they made it through with no patients dying. Dr. Cho and Dr. Harper described it as a miracle - really, it was only possible because Theo spent the entire time darting between beds, magically treating the worst of the wounds and reviving patients as needed. She had to revive three separate agents, which left her with a bloody nose and feeling like she’d been hit by a bus - a throbbing headache, sore muscles, and more nauseous than she cared to admit - but everyone lived, and that was what mattered.

Of the many patients Theo treated, the first patient - Thor - was the one she kept thinking back to. Physically speaking, the process of re-starting Thor’s heart was taxing, but not as bad as a full revival; mentally, it was one of the less pleasant moments. However, the memory that lingered was less about reviving Thor and more about Loki’s remark as she was trying to work on Thor that twisted her stomach into knots: “You act like he’s a simple Midgardian! You know nothing of how to heal the Aesir— he will die at your hand!”

It was said in the heat of the moment, but she would be lying if she said the comment didn’t sting. If it was a field agent that she didn’t know who was freaking out about their partner, that was one thing - she could shake that off, and she had plenty of times before.

But Loki?

Loki knew about her fears; he saw firsthand how much losing a patient impacted her, even if she didn’t know the patient before. And to have him question — no, not question, outright doubt — her capabilities?

Well, his words cut far deeper and were much harder to shake.

When the final patient was stabilized and transferred out of the emergency department, Theo was the only doctor who didn’t immediately change out of her scrubs and go home to sleep. Not that she wasn’t looking forward to buying herself under a mountain of blankets and sleeping for the next two days, because she was. But she couldn’t do that without taking care of something else first.

Instead of going back to her suite, Theo slipped through the halls of the hospital, making her way to Thor’s room. Unlike the emergency department, which was constantly bustling with people coming and going, the halls of the ward were almost eerily quiet. After the bustle and chaos of the last 24 hours, the quiet and relative peace was refreshing. Besides, it was probably a good thing that she didn’t see anyone as she made her way through the building - she probably looked like a mess.

Maybe she was after the reassurance that Thor was, in fact, recovering. Maybe she just needed to end the night by coming full-circle, checking on the first patient she took care of. Why she needed to check on him wasn't important, but Theo knew herself well enough to understand she wouldn’t be able to rest until she had the proof that he was alright.

The door to Thor’s room was open. Theo stopped in the entrance and leaned against the doorframe, taking in the sight before her.

Thor was asleep. He already looked much better than when he first came in - probably something to do with the enhanced healing of the Aesir, but it might have also been because he was cleaned up and probably full of pain medicine. Given he was one of the first patients anyone cared for, he did have a bit of a head start on the whole recovery thing.

Someone sat in a chair beside the bed with their back to the door - between the perfectly erect posture and inky curls, it didn’t take a genius to realize Loki was the one at Thor’s side.

It was almost enough for Theo to turn on her heel and high-tail it out of there. She just stopped in to check on Thor; facing Loki was something she wasn’t sure she could handle at the moment. She was tired, and she didn’t trust herself not to say something that would make things worse.

“You need not lurk in the entrance,” Loki spoke up, not even turning around to look at Theo as he addressed her. “If you wish to enter, do so.”

Whether he knew it was Theo or not was a mystery, but he must have at least sensed someone’s presence.

Pushing away from the doorframe, Theo sighed.

“I didn’t mean to intrude.” She hesitantly stepped into the room, but stayed close to the door. If the conversation went south, she’d at least have a quick out. “I just finished working, so I thought I’d see how Thor was doing…You know, make sure he was still alive and all… Still Aesir, not a midgardian zombie or something.”

Damn her lack of filter.

A breathless puff of laughter escaped Loki, sounding almost surprised. Before Theo could turn and run, Loki twisted in his seat to face her, his eyes trailing up and down her body. His expression gave away no clues as to whether he was laughing because he found her comment amusing or because he was shocked she had the gall to speak to him like that, or anything to tell her where his mind was at.

“He remains alive and Aesir,” he finally replied, offering a tired smirk as he spoke. “Though you, darling, look a bit too close to a zombie for comfort.”

Theo rolled her eyes, but cracked a smile. She should have known something like that was coming. Beyond having bags under her bloodshot eyes and the inevitable loss of color in her skin from the revivals, Theo was almost positive her hair was a rat’s nest… But that was typical after a normal shift in the emergency department. After 24 hours straight, she could only imagine what she must have looked like.

“We just finished triaging and stabilizing everyone…” Theo shrugged, keeping her smile from Loki’s observation. “It's not for the faint of heart.”

“No, but you are nowhere near faint of heart,” Loki replied, offering a small smile. “For that, I am grateful.”

Theo nodded, uncertain of how to take his remark. She shoved her hands in her pockets, glancing around the rest of the room. Assorted bouquets of flowers and cards stood on display, covering the majority of the room’s surfaces. The whirring and beeping of monitors and machines filled the silence between them.

“Thank you for caring for my brother.” Loki’s attention returned to Thor, who still slept. “I apologize for my remarks earlier - I let my emotions overtake me. It was inappropriate for me to speak to you in such a harsh manner.”

The simple fact that she didn’t have to prompt him for the apology made it seem genuine, but it was hard to shake the underlying distrust that came from it. After all, wasn’t there something about how the things people say in the heat of the moment are what they feel deep down?

“It’s no problem,” Theo bit the inside of her cheek, glancing at Thor before returning her attention to Loki. “Sorry for my less than professional response… I uh, get a bit intense in the heat of the moment.”

“You need not apologize - your reaction was justified.” Loki nodded, still focused on his brother’s face. “I trust you with my life, and I do not doubt in the slightest that you would fight tirelessly to save any life you could. If I am entirely honest, I am not certain as to why I stated you would not be able to care for Thor, as I know better.”

The knot in Theo’s chest unraveled a bit more.

“I get it,” Theo reassured him, resting one hand on his shoulder. “Thor’s your brother. If I were in your position, I’d do the same.”

Loki covered her hand with his own, finally meeting Theo’s gaze. Red rimmed his eyes, making his seaglass green irises stand out even more than usual; between that and the disheveled hair, his distress was obvious.

“He’ll be alright,” Theo murmured, squeezing Loki’s shoulder, “And he’s lucky to have a brother who cares as much about him as you do.”

Theo caught the slightest quiver in Loki’s lip and the way his eyes briefly appeared to glisten, but she didn’t say anything. Frankly, she didn’t know what she would even say. Blood never scared her, but the second someone she knew started crying her heart would hammer in her chest and her palms would start to sweat; forget trying to carry a train of thought, much less a conversation.

“Thank you,” Loki whispered, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. He tightened his grip on Theo’s hand, keeping it on his shoulder.

With a quiet sigh, Theo shifted her weight between her aching feet once more. Now that she wasn’t running all over and fueled by adrenaline, the physical effects of going at full speed for so long started to make their presence known. Still, she didn’t try to remove her hand from Loki’s shoulder; it was obvious that Loki could use the support, and he didn’t seem like he was about to ask for it.

And if her silent gesture stopped any potential tears, she could handle the aching feet that came with standing.

“You mentioned that you recently finished stabilizing the other agents. It has been over twenty four hours since they returned…” Loki’s brows drew together as he returned his attention to Theo. “Have you taken any breaks to rest, or to eat something?”

“I worked straight through.” Theo shook her head. “We had lives to save. That’s the nature of what we do; it doesn’t wait for anyone’s lunch break to finish.”

Loki frowned, but let out a hum. He removed his hand from Theo’s, the cold air in the room a crisp contrast to the warmth of his skin. He flicked his wrist, using seidr to bring one of the chairs up next to his. “You ought to take a seat - you’ve certainly earned the opportunity to rest.”

With a timid, grateful smile, Theo sat down. Immediately, she could feel her muscles relax, though the motion reminded her of how much her body ached after reviving people.

“How are the other agents?”

“Barring any complications, they’ll be alright,” Theo slouched back in the chair, arms resting on the sides as she settled in. “Recovery times will vary, but the fact we were able to save everyone is a miracle in and of itself.”

If there were complications, well… Theo lived in the building. They knew where to find her.

“That is excellent news,” Loki remarked, resting his hand atop Theo’s as it sat on the arm of the chair between them. Though Theo did her best not to acknowledge the gesture, it certainly caught her attention. “You seem truly exhausted.”

“When you’re running on adrenaline, it’s easy to go for a long time and feel totally fine,” she shrugged, “but now all the adrenaline is wearing off and I’m definitely feeling the consequences.”

“The consequences?”

“Fatigue, sore muscles, all that good stuff.” Theo softened the remark with a hint of a smile. Loki already had Thor to focus on; he didn’t need to hear Theo complain. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m used to working long stretches - normally my shifts are twelve hours at a time, but with this group we extended it out until everyone was cared for and even brought in extra staff from New York Presbyterian - that’s the top non-SHIELD trauma center in New York, where I used to work.”

“Seems it was quite the undertaking,” Loki murmured.

“Yeah - it was my first code black here.” She glanced at Loki, who arched an eyebrow at her as if asking to elaborate. “Code black is when you have more patients than staff and resources to treat everyone. By the time we were done it looked like a tornado came through and destroyed everything.”

With an absentminded hum, Loki nodded. He brought his attention back to Thor, who slept soundly. “Will you have time to rest and recuperate before your next shift?”

“I’m supposed to have the next two days off,” Theo answered with a shrug, “but if I’m needed I’ll be in to help.”

Loki frowned, narrowing his eyes at Theo.

“What?”

“You spend all your time caring for others,” Loki observed, “Yet caring for yourself seems to be an afterthought.”

“I appreciate the concern, but I’ll be fine.” Theo rolled her eyes, but smiled. “I just need a nap and I’ll be good to go.”

It wasn’t entirely true - she’d probably have a headache for a few days, not to mention feel a bit queasy, but for the time being the explanation would suffice. At least on earth, Excedrin was a thing.

Though he responded with a skeptical glance, Loki didn’t push the subject. His hand still sat on hers, but he slipped his fingers between hers and squeezed.

Some thoughts on the teen wolf movie:

Overall I quite liked the movie, I feel a bit embarrassed saying that after seeing what everyone else thinks about it but I can’t help it lol. I’m not gonna lie I do think there’s both a lot pros and cons to it, so here’s my thoughts on it:

To start off I really loved the time jump it just made sense to me and I love seeing how the character’s ages were now closer to the actors ages instead of them still being in their teen years or early twenties. I didn’t know that was going to happen so I was pleasantly surprised by that. Knowing that Scott still worked with animals and deaton was so sweet to me, Lydia being a fucking was boss was just *chefs kiss* The Hale’s having a family business, awesome. Honestly just having a good portion of the characters back on screen was awesome to me lmao, didn’t realise how much I missed teen wolf til I watched it.

The beginning of the movie was pretty awesome, I never thought that they would open it up to Liam in japan, he’s speaking Japanese and serving customers at a restaurant, this indicates that’s he’s been there a while. Hikari had a cool intro alongside Liam, it’s obvious she’s a badass and you get to see small bits of that throughout the movie. this could’ve been a really good opportunity to create a new strong Asian woman/character that people like me (I’m part Asian) could relate to but instead of making her completely different and new, the writer/s took all of Kira’s traits (Kitsune, sword etc.) and dumped it onto hikari, which to me felt really lazy and probably racist which doesn’t surprise me considering how they treated Arden Cho (go watch partner track on Netflix!!). It’s also obvious that there’s a relationship between hikari and Liam which was also left unexplored because after the intro they were both sidelined throughout the rest of the movie which is really annoying. I’m also a shipper of Liam and Theo as I know others are 👀but honestly for whatever reason, even after only having Liam and hikari for like five minutes I do actually think they’re cute together and if we got to see more of that, I would totally watch it.

I love how malia is still the same when it comes to her thoughts and honesty 😂 glad they didn’t change that too much about her. MALIA AND PARRISH!!!?? I never would’ve guessed they be a thing and I’m not mad about them either, I mean they were pretty hot together but I did find it a bit random and unnecessary.

Derek hale has a son and his name is Eli, I think all The Hale family members seem to have really cool names, don’t ask me why I’m focused on that, I just am lol. Seeing derek have a new family considering he lost all of his other loved ones and his pack got killed made me really happy, I think it’s a logical way to grow his character since we’ve already kind of seen him as a brother and mentor type figure to Scott. genuinely thought we’d only ever see him have kids in fanfics but now it’s canon and I can’t believe it. I am surprised at his death, I was scared earlier on when his neck was bleeding so it was even more devastating when he actually did end up dying later. Tyler did a great job playing Derek and I’m really glad the could get him back for the movie. Derek keeping stiles jeep and fixing it up just gave me all the sterek feels. And the fact that Eli grew up on stories of all the characters 😫

Eli Hale is easily one of the top three best things in this movie for me, he’s a perfect addition and the fact he has so much stiles in him just makes me appreciate his character even more. Maybe they wrote him that way on purpose to fill in for stiles/Dylan but that doesn’t bother me either cos I thought he was introduced really well. I love how they kept stiles part of the movie through Eli with his personality and his obsession with stiles jeep whichleads me to the relationship between Noah and Eli which I freaking adored. I honestly wish after dereks death that Noah would be the one to take in Eli instead of Allison and Scott. I think it would have been better for Scott to just be his mentor and alpha and keep that separate from being a father figure which Noah already kind of is (that’s how I see it anyway). Also Allison tried to kill Eli, so unless Eli’s forgiven her it doesn’t really make sense for them to be a family.

Scott to me felt like the character who changed the least out of all of them which is not a bad thing. I said earlier that I love how he stuck with deaton and dogs, you could see throughout the show his passion for it and I love that that hasn’t changed as he’s gotten older. although after seeing him in the whole firefighting situation at the start, I honestly could see him as a firefighter. He’s got super strength and hearing, like he’d be great at it. I’m glad they wrote it so him and malia were already broken up before Allison came back because I don’t think I could watch malias heart get broken by Scott still being in love with Allison. I thought the reunion between Scott and malia was really funny.

Allison is back!!! The shot where she’s walking and the two cars explode in the background was 🔥🔥 She was a pretty good bad guy, especially going after Eli and Derek because she was ruthless about it which reminded me of how Chris argent was at the start of the series when it came to Scott and Derek since he was pretty ruthless with them too. it was so creepy the way the nogitsune used her especially by pretending to be her mom which made me GASP 😮. And it was super heartbreaking that she didn’t have her memories too. When Scott told her he was still in love with her 😍 the looks they gave each other right after he said that, threw me back to the earlier seasons, it was really cute.

JR bourne did such a good job with chris’ reaction regarding Allison being back. He’s had such great character growth throughout the series and he’s just even more badass in the movie. Also when he was swearing 😏🔥 wish we got to see more of him and Melissa, I’m assuming they’re still together since there was a small hug between them after everything was over but it’s not enough for me lol I need more, I loved them in the show. Another person on tumblr (can’t remember their username sorry!!) said they finally got Melissa a weapon!! and I had the exact same thought, she’s awesome.

Peter had the most Peter hale entrance to the movie and I loved it, I still think he’s an asshole tho lol. Also that scene when they were at the cliff and he’s on his hands and knees sniffing at the ground was really funny to me.

They could not have had mason and Liam further away from eachother throughout the entire movie like wtf, not even a little acknowledgement like a hug between them or anything. With mason being a deputy, I thought made sense because he had the brains and the whole problem solving thing similar to stiles so him being a cop and using his researching abilities etc to solve crimes and seeing him work with Parrish and the sheriff was cool to me since they weren’t really characters that interacted in the show… but if we’re being political I’m not sure if it makes sense since he’s young and black and I’m not sure if he’d buy into the whole “if you want to change the system, you have to be part of it” kind of thing, I don’t know if I’m reaching or reading too much into that but let me know what you guys think about it cos I’m not sure 😅

Lydia, oh Lydia. I love you. She’s a powerful woman, she’s got her own office, she’s all fancy, I love it I love it. Having to imagine her having nightmares of stiles being dead is horrible!! Like why couldn’t he just be on a special assignment some where as an fbi agent so he couldn’t be back to help them. Them not being together after everything is really sad and I’m just grateful they didn’t kill him offscreen. Anyway back to Lydia, when she screamed Allison it gave me chills and took me back to the earlier seasons too, glad to see they got a reunion hug between them. I love how she towed Jackson around with her and he still kept his attitude 😂 I laughed when he was talking about Ethan

Adrian harris, when he revealed himself I was genuinely shocked because I totally thought he died in the show so that was a pretty good plot twist to me, and the fact that he got dragged to eichen house!!! Lol you deserve it asshole.

I think the nogitsune was a good choice of villain to bring back, he’s creepy and manipulative and the fact that Scott’s bite managed to give him werewolf powers!!?? I didn’t see that coming at all!! I thought it was really cool like him turning into a werewolf was like the next level of him being a villian. Everytime the oni we’re on screen, the synchronicity between them had me on edge, watching the gang take them down was really cool, when Derek, Scott and Eli lined up to go after the nogitsune I cheered 😁 just seeing them together with all there different eye colours, I just thought it was really freaking cool.

Throughout the movie I was thinking that if they wanted to kill the nogitsune they’d have to kill Allison too since they’re like connected or Allison would sacrifice herself and die again and I’m glad that wasn’t the case. When Allison had to shoot Scott with the arrows I really thought they’d kill him off and Eli would end up being the next generation kind of thing which is sort of what happened only Derek ended up sacrificing himself instead of Scott dying 😫 if I am being honest with you I think I could make peace with Scott dying if it meant Derek being able to raise his son. The shot with Eli at the end really gives me hope for spin-offs in the future which I would definitely watch but I’m not sure others would be inclined to agree with me. I think the movie was kind of choppy and think that if it was made into limited/mini series like somewhere between 4-8 episodes then it would flow a lot better and would be a lot more appealing to most folks, characters would get better screen time between them, we could get flashbacks (I mean there’s a 15year time jump, stuff has happened!), proper funeral for Derek, I don’t know…I think they could’ve made it work for a tv show. Eli is a lacrosse player and it reminded me of Scott and stiles when they were first on the team 😊 it was hilarious when coach made Scott get back into the game even tho he’s and adult

the desperation to survive is such an interesting part of kingdom and I especially like how it’s reflected in Yeong Shin, Lee Chang, and the Queen. The parallel between Yeong Shin and Lee Chang is lower hanging fruit, but the added factor of the Queen gives it more depth. These are the three characters where it is explicitly stated and shown that they will do anything to survive and I think they can be broken into three categories: selflessness, selfishness, and the intermediate.

Yeong Shin’s desperation to survive is selfless. Though it is one of the factors that ultimately causes the plague, the origin of it comes from a want for not only his survival, but the survival of the people in the village. Despite making the soup, he does not turn because he wanted to feed the people in Jiyulheon first. There’s the juxtaposition of the immorality of eating a human body and the moral good of feeding the villagers. His approach to most things seems to be whether or not the pros outweigh the cons with the information he has and he’s no stranger to going to great lengths in order to survive (such as cannibalism). That being said, to him, his survival also inherently means the survival of those around him. If he was bothered about just surviving himself, he would have destroyed the bodies in Jiyulheon, would not have gone back to the wagon when it was stuck, would not have defended the villagers when the Palace Guards attacked, etc. So yes, Mu Yeong was right to say that the chakho will do anything to survive, but that survival, in the case of Yeong Shin, is selfless.

On the flip side, the Queen’s desperation to survive is selfish. It is the kind of survival where there are no moral codes that bound her and the one where she will do anything in order to keep herself afloat. It is also what makes the switch from Lord Cho to her as the main antagonist so impactful, one because of the parting words she gives him after poisoning his tea, and two because Lord Cho, while cunning, never had the same level of ruthlessness as his daughter did; his existence was not constantly being tested and he did not know survival like she did. Like Yeong Shin, her desire to survive also played a part in the outbreak, but the circumstances are different. Her survival inherently requires the deaths of those around her. The lengths that she goes to in order to ensure her survival are extreme and they are a death sentence for anyone who threatens her. She survives through cruelty because cruelty is all she knows and this survival will always be selfish because it will only be her own.

And finally, we have Lee Chang whose desire to survive is the intermediate: it is the moral grey between two opposing sides, and it’s also interesting to note that it is also the only survival that does not play a factor in the outbreak. Throughout the show, he has moments of selfishness and selflessness, and he goes to similar lengths as the other two with the same sort of desperation that they all know. I don’t think he’s perfectly in the middle because it would be wrong to say he’s halfway similar to the Queen, but it’s also important to note that the survival they both know is one of the same because they are both disadvantaged in Joseon’s politics. When comparing him to Yeong Shin, he too includes others in his survival, but it takes him longer to get there. The best example of this is when they return to Jiyulheon and the palace guards attack; his hesitation ensures his own survival at the village but it comes at the cost of others. What’s interesting is that just before that, he risked his life to free the wagon as they escaped from the undead. His quest to survive is contradictory as much as it desperate. Part of his development is figuring out which way he will ultimately fall.

(There might be something to be said about how the consequences of Queen and Yeong Shin’s desperation to survive are immediate whereas Lee Chang’s are stretched throughout the show, but I think that would have to be another post).

Korean War: The Forgotten War and why it matters.

Hello, and welcome again, my amazing readers to another history blog lesson. Last time we talked about the black death and how it changed Europe as a whole, now we talk about the Korean War.

When It comes to wars in the 20th century post ww1 that people talk about, It's mostly ww2 and the Vietnam War that people talk about. In ww2 Americans celebrated the end of the war. It was a momentous victory and many soldiers came back as heroes in post-war America.

Two decades later, Vietnam was the opposite. The Vietnam War was a humiliation for any American serving in the war. They were shamed and hated. the deaths of a lot of Us soldiers tend to have that effect.

But there was one war that wasn't loved or hated, It was just right there. The Korean War. To say that this war was forgotten would be an understatement. It might just be one of the most forgotten wars in history.

Often today, it's never taught. The one time I learned about it was when I was 12 years old, That was it. But millions died in a footnote in history including some 33,000 Americans.

And we are left with the ramifications of the end of the conflict. So what was the Korean War? Why does it matter? Well, strap in, and let me tell you about the forgotten cold war proxy war.

The Buildup To War

This whole thing starts before ww2. Korea was once independent before being annexed or taken over by Japan in 1910. The Koreans were subject to awful treatment by their Japanese overlords for at least three and a half decades.

By 1945, the Japanese empire was defeated through a combination of two atomic bombs, a Naval war, and the Soviets invaded Manchuria. The United states and the Soviet Union( Russia) proceeded to divide Korea amongst themselves.

It was divided and held between Soviet and American occupation with both deciding to divide it by the 38th parallel.

The Un attempted to give free elections to Korea, However, the Soviets blocked it and boycotted it real quick, the reason being that it would be unfair. By December 1945, Korea was stuck in a hard place between both sides. They both agreed to a trusteeship that would last for five years.

There was an attempt however to establish a new provisional government in the American zone, Known as the People's Republic of Korea, or PRK. The issue was they were pro-radical communists. The American military quickly smashed its legitimacy as a government and outlawed the Prk.

In the north, the Soviets hired a man and veteran activist called Cho man sik and saw that he could be a leader for a potential Korea.

Cho however disagreed with the Soviets and only worked with them under his own terms, which annoyed them. The final straw came after he refused to sign the trusteeship. As a result, he was removed from power and sent under house arrest before he disappeared.

This was Stalin after all, so guess what happened. Cho's leave of absence convinced the Soviets to find a new leader for a new Korea. This new puppet was Kim il sung, a former. communist guerilla leader.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, or what would become known to the world as North Korea was born.

Meanwhile, in the southern part of Korea, the elections were held and the presidential candidate, Syngman Rhee came to power. Thus south korea was born in 1948

Rhee was a hardline anticommunist and proceeded to have the military hunt down and kill suspected communists across the south to suppress uprisings. About 100,000 people were killed in the south for being suspected communists.

Things came to a head in 1950. Kim il sung believed he could invade South Korea and so proceeded to meet with Stalin to ask for equipment and support for the invasion.

Stalin was wary at first, but eventually, by April, He gave Kim his support. However, he made it clear that he would not send Soviet ground troops if a conflict broke out as to avoid conflict with the Americans.

North Korean forces Numbered around between 150,000 and 200,000 troops. 10 infantry divisions were organized, one tank division and one air force division. 210 aircraft as well as 280 tanks were prepared for the invasion of South Korea.

The South, by comparison, was nowhere close to that. By the day of the invasion, they only had around 98,000 soldiers, 0 tanks, and a 22 aircraft force, Most of which were trainer and liaison aircraft.

On the 25 of June 1950, North Korea launched an invasion of the south. The Korean war had begun.

The course of the war.

The North Koreans easily smashed their way into South Korea. The S South Korean military or Rok military had virtually no tanks or anti-tank weaponry to speak of. They resorted to blowing up a bridge in the Han River, killing many refugees. Seoul, the capital fell on the same day, the 28th of June.

The South Korean military had been reduced to just 22,000 troops from its original force of 98,000 in the spend of five days. While the North Koreans were consolidating their success, The Us was deciding whether or not they wanted to get involved or not.

They were concerned about the fact that if Korea fell, the communists could easily follow the same line with other nations, domino theory, and all of that. China had fallen a year earlier to communism, while half of Europe was encompassed under the Soviet sphere.

At the same time, they were also concerned about escalating the situation in Korea into war with the Soviets, believing that Europe was more of a concern than Korea.

Eventually, however, they agreed to send a Un peacekeeping force from several different nations, led by the Us in order to support South Korea. The generals were tasked to rebuild a force that was a shadow of its ww2 self.

Meanwhile, Us forces in Korea were fighting the Kpa, or the Korean people's army, for control of the south. The battle of Osan was one instance when task force Smith was fighting the North Koreans and highlighted the failures of poorly trained men and equipment such as bazookas and recoilless rifles, which were unable to penetrate the t34 tanks the North had.

Task force Smith retreated from the battlefield, but not before succeeding to hold off the enemy.

The battle of the Pusan perimeter was a battle where Un forces managed to hold back the North Koreans for a long time, with the air force and navy's amazing overwhelming superiority, And the grit of the un troops, they succeeded in holding the perimeter long enough for reinforcements to come.

During the battle of Pusan, efforts to relieve the defenders were underway. The Battle of Inchon however was a turning point in the un's favor. While I would like to go more in-depth about Inchon, All you need to know is that the landings were a success and they destroyed the North Korean forces there.

As a result of the landings, the defenders of Pusan were relieved. On September 15th, they broke out of Pusan. That same month the Un forces launched a counteroffensive into the south and managed to retake lost territory.

On September 22, 1950, Un forces fought for Seoul In what was known as the second battle of Seoul. The battle was a Un victory and Seoul was freed from the north.

Wanting to stop any future incursion from happening, the Un decided to eliminate North Korea once and for all by invading the North. They succeeded in capturing most of the north by October, as Kpa resistance crumbled. It finally culminated in the capture of the capital Pyongyang on October 19th, 1950.

Regardless, They continued to pummel the Kpa and pushed them all the way back to the Chinese border. And this is where things take a huge turn backward.

Chinese Involvement in this Conflict

As the Un pushed up north, China was starting to become increasingly wary of an approaching American force, which was pummeling a fellow communist state that they supported from the start. Mao Zedong, the leader of China, feared that America might not just stop at eradicating communism in Korea and that China might be the next one on the block.

After a series of emergency meetings that lasted from the 2 to the 5th of October, China decided to send in troops to support their ally. After enlisting Stalin's support, the Chinese were ready with about 200,000 troops. On October 19th, 1950, Chinese soldiers crossed the border in secret and across the Frozen Yalu River.

Wave after wave of Chinese soldiers crossed down the mountains and borders, Overwhelming the Un forces and forcing them back. They successfully retook Pyongyang as well as North Korea from the American forces.

Enraged so much that the Chinese had done this, the American commander Douglas MacArthur began looking for a way to defeat the Chinese, One of which was atomic weapons. Truman had said earlier at the beginning of the war that all options were on the table, including the bomb.

However as the months went by, This decision slowly changed. By 1951, However, Macarthur wanted to still use atomic bombs on China. Eventually, Macarthur's requests for the bombs were too much for Truman, and on April 11, He fired him and replaced him with this man, General Matthew Ridgeway.

Meanwhile, the Chinese and North Koreans were rapidly advancing and had taken Seoul again. However, Ridgeway hatched a counteroffensive known as Operation Thunderbolt. The counteroffensive was a success and they once again took Seoul back into un hands as well as South Korea.

However, from this point forwards, The war became a back-and-forth between the Chinese and North Koreans vs the Un and the South Koreans. Un forces were unable to get to Pyongyang while Chinese and north korean forces were unable to reach Seoul. Any gain both sides make was just taken back by the next offensive.

Now while the war on the ground was a stalemate, the war in the air was a far different story. This was the first war in which jet fighters played the central war in combat. No longer are piston fighters the main fighter plane, Jets are the new rage.

Fighters such as the ww2 era gloster meteor, the f-80 shooting Star, Mig 15, And especially the f-86 sabre became the standard jet fighters in the Korean War. This was a decade when fighter jets were still new and looked exactly like this.

See what I mean. North Korea was also subject to a huge bombing campaign that left thousands dead and injured. It still ranks among the highest countries that have been bombed. both sides continued to fight,

But eventually however by 1953, both sides were tired of conflict. After gaining no strategic advantage for several years, The combatants agreed to an armistice that was officially signed on July 27, 1953. The fighting was over.

The aftermath and conclusion

With the fighting over, Both sides created the Korean demilitarized zone, or Dmz for short. The Zone still exists to this very day.

With the war over, there was no cheering in the streets for Korea. Most people barely even paid attention to the war at all. Soldiers went back to their civilian lives. the 1950s continued, that was it.

North Korea was somehow better off than the South, With better health care and a better standard of living in the South, which is weird considering it's North Korea we are talking about here. But by the 80s, It began to stagnate and became a poverty-stricken place with concentration camps and famine.

South Korea went through a lot of regime changes and had a poor economy and living standards than the North. However, by the 1980s, South Korea's economy increased big time to the point of being one of the richest economies on earth.

The Korean War also had the highest causality civilian count than ww2 with approximately about 3 million civilian causalities in the entire war. 1.5 million North Koreans fled the country during the war. Millions of Koreans from both the North and South died during the war.

33,000 Americans were also dead, as well as 114,000 Chinese.

Ironically even though it's called the forgotten war, It's still ongoing. There was never an official peace treaty signed, meaning the Us is still at war with North Korea. The North in many ways sees the war from all those decades ago as a constant part of their ideology, with generations born to hate the Americans.

And a constant paranoia that the war may start again, which explains most of their craziness and general hostility towards other nations that aren't allied with them.

Even though the Korean War may be remembered today as a forgotten war, It's a war that impacted the lives of two nations and has defined generations of young Koreans. And it will continue to define future generations, as we still live with the consequences of a small conflict that began on that fateful day on 25 of June 1950.

harry potter: jkr is a transphobe and actively opposes pro-trans legislation in the UK. the harry potter series itself employs many harmful stereotypes (an antisemitic caricature in the form of hook-nosed goblins who control the banks, the house elf slaves wanting to remain enslaved because they think they’re inferior to their owners, the only east asian character being named “cho chang”, etc). although these may be unintentional, they still reflect jkr’s bigotry and at this point i believe it’s impossible to truly separate the series from its author.

dream smp: many creators in the dsmp including dream himself have repeatedly made bigoted comments and jokes. i feel that any creator who continues to associate with them is being complicit in bigotry— even if it’s just jokes— because those jokes end up hurting actual people and communities.

attack on titan: the series has lots of antisemitic and anti-korean/japanese nationalist subtext that is supported by its author.

a little concert idea rambling session-

idea: a meiko or kaito centered concert for their 20th anniversary. the entire track list are songs in their release order. if this were a thing i executed, that would include covers. so 2008 would be nostalogic, 2009 would be change me, but then 2010 might be calc or secret police. each song representing each year until we hit the 20th anniversary mark. Another catch: cover contributors could only use their V1s for songs that predate their V3s. so if the cover contributor picked tell your world (2012) they'd have to use meiko / kaito v1, since their v3s were released in 2014 / 2013 respectively.

pros: - i think it's a neat idea - good diversity and potentially a fun challenge for cover creators - it's a particularly good fit for Kaito, seeing as he is like. the king of having covers of other character's songs. - it would only really work for meiko or kaito, because they have a small number of original songs with motions. Characters like len / rin / gumi / flower would have enough motions for originals that you could make a full concert, where as characters like piko / seeu / fukase have so FEW motions it would be basically all covers.

cons: - No motions exist for songs older than 2007, so there would be a 3 year gap for meiko and a 1 year gap for kaito - Even with the gap.. that's a lotta songs. kinda long for an online concert. if we're averaging each song at around 4 minutes, that's 76 minutes for kaito and 68 minutes for meiko. for perspective, nico cho parties generally last about 40-50 minutes and the plps have both hit just above 50 minutes

Yeah if anything I’d expect seeus va to be swapped out because of the controversies and future kpop vocals being anonymous or someone indie (maybe to have full control of an image they can have like a Korean vtuber, tho idk much about that side of the community tho I know some are under official companies)

I imagine “master” recordings probably would still be archived somewhere , I know mics have improved the last decade you can buy tho I imagine it’d be consistent in the “pro/private” side of the industry since you can listen to movies from like over 30 years ago and the sound quality isn’t terrible, but it’s possible even if they have them maybe they’d still have to contact Gackt again and renew a contract or pay him a fee again (I know he updated to v4 but I imagine the official team from his site didn’t rly bring it up since it’s probably more like a sponsor to him versus a personal project he directly worked with)

Def wouldn't mind SeeU getting a rerelease! Again with character-focused banks idc much about voice providers changing hands too much as long as they get the 'character' right, so if that's what it takes for SeeU so be it (although they could just reuse her recordings like so many vsynths already do lmao)

Considering that they still use v2 recordings for NT and it still comes out fine I don't think the quality of recordings is a problem. Potential problems I can see might be not having enough recorded (especially since v6 has multilingual capabilities -> probably needs more phonemes) and legalities/contract stuff. The latter might be the issue for gakupo considering how big his voice provider is, but then again idk what goes on in voice provider contracts.

Know what I really want from Gakupo? Gakupoid Talk. Considering how he usually plays comedic relief in nico cho party and stuff I think it would be funny.
