god i wish i wouldn't have to explain the intricacies of the neopets economy to you guys to give the full context for this but. the new neopets team that took over from jumpstart pledged that they were going to curb the inflation of rare items, which is great because a lot of rare items are worth literally hundreds of millions of neopoints, they are unbuyable unless you've been playing actively for 20 years. they did this earlier with a site festival that included random loot boxes, some of which had Unbelievably Fucking Rare And Precious items worth 200 million neopoints apiece.

well.

today they have gone a step further. by releasing this year's trick-or-treat bags. and having the trick-or-treat bags be stuffed to the brim with unbelievably fucking rare stamps, weapons, paint brushes, defense magic, and other unbuyables. (all prohibitively expensive and in-high-demand types of items.)

jellyneo, the premier neopets website, has recorded prices of some items plummeting from 2,000,000 neopoints to 4,000 neopoints IN THE LAST THREE HOURS. this is when most people haven't even heard about the event or OPENED THEIR BAGS YET.

and of course. cherry on top. 20-year-old account holders are crytyping on the site events neoboard about how mean and cruel it is to make rare stamps part of the prize pool, because their entire identity hinges on being part of the neopian bourgeoisie, and they are having MELTDOWNS over their assets being devalued until they're part of the lowly proletariat.

this is a children's game for children btw.

hello!!! i was able to get all my bills paid for this month without overdrafting my bank account, which is amazing 🥹 but my rent is coming up and due on the first, i only have $5 in my bank account but i need $750 to pay rent 😭😭😭 im working my ass off on comms in the coming weeks, if anyone is interested in getting one in the meantime im extremely open! $80 for a single character and $120 for two characters!

and if you cant afford that and just want to throw a few bucks at me that's much appreciated too!!! anything helps at all, anything will help me not be severely overdrafted before my next (very small) paycheck hits on the first of january!

im still on the job hunt and nothing has turned out so far unfortunately :( commissions are my main source of income for the time being since the job market is in shambles

Sinco as a ship are such boring middle aged men together, and I think that's beautiful. When they're together all their ruthlessness and banal violence almost cancels out, almost. Silco and Singed aren't after the same goal, but they're both just on the same wavelength that there's no real argument or manipulation, it's just two men in agreement to spend over a decade of their lives working together.

Almost nothing seems like an argument between them, they're just on the same page. Silco and Singed are completely independent of eachother and it makes their relationship all the more intentional. They're both set in their ways in what they want and who they have to be to get it, but the two have carved a space for each other in their lives.

Singed is so sparing with his empathy, but is willing to extend it to Silco, while Silco is willing to trust Singed with Jinx. Except in the case of their children, there's not much further these men go in forms vulnerability for anyone else but eachother.

aventurine is romani, apparently! i hope hoyo doesn't fuck up his writing, because 2.0 just came out and there's already racist dialogue against him (although it was prob intended to make the player uncomfortable.)

i can't wait for his sad backstory & probably-very-important role in the main story & for the other characters to start appreciating him more. i'm a little delusional BUT IT WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN TO SOME EXTENT

despite aventurine seeming just as sketchy as the other characters, i think he's a deliberate red herring (compared to: acheron, who's initially presented as trustworthy but is later revealed to be not what she seems. black swan, who offers to help the astral express crew, but doesn't tell them that she made a deal with aventurine involving them. firefly, who deliberately hides her past from trailblazer and repeatedly says she's NOT a stowaway... although that one wasn't hard to see through.)

aventurine has been surprisingly upfront with us. i'm sure he will still deceive us at one point, but in contrast to the aforementioned examples, i think he'll do it for the greater good of penacony. or at least... some kind of greater good? okay definitely getting delusional here since he's not very interested in heroics. but WE WILL SEE

i have a coworker who's a goddamn magician at his job but he's very reserved, i'm convinced physically incapable of speaking above a whisper, sometimes kinda socially awkward (though we're software engineers so that's basically in the job description), speaks fluent Japanese just because, knowledgeable as hell on the most random topics, the dude mystifies me. i'm at least 45% sure he's autistic to some degree. he's also a pokemon nerd so we've been routinely bonding by just sitting in the corner playing with the pokey men in our phones, staying in our lane, vibing. i've been trying to figure out if he has a special interest and what it is though bc the dude is so hard for me to read but also i support everything he does forever.

today we realized we both play pokemon TCG pocket so we friended each other and i checked out his virtual showcase of collected pokemon cards and I saw that he has a whole ass binder filled with the same card of slowpoke. and then i realized that the other day he was wearing a slowpoke-shaped beanie at the office and a slowpoke-pink hoodie. you guys i'm picking up on some hints here

anyways i'm now thinking of crocheting him a slowpoke plushie for christmas bc this man fuckin loves a pink blob and i RESPECT IT

It's BH6 Month again

You know what that means: six pages a day from me and BH6 art too boot

Been doing 100 words a day on Live and Learn 2 and Edifice Coulee, adding Ghost's Reign to that list since Part I is done and I need to get Part II rolling

Also planning on seeing about adding a page to each of my BH6 fics this month, considering I have 33 dedicated docs and then a couple of collections, I can definitely do that with the 168 pages this month

Have a few one-shots I want to illustrate this month and post

Do want to say that despite working pretty regularly on Live and Learn 2 and sitting at 46 consecutive chapters, 201K+ words, and 481 pages (effectively now making this chonker bigger than the original)...it's likely not getting posted this year. Did get the "Something Fluffy" episode done and the rest a bit more outlined insofar as the bridge events, but I don't feel as if I'm any closer to finishing it than I was several months ago and I want this done before I start posting

Conversely, The Glowing Tide is coming along well with both Part II and Part III past, oh, 50% done, might add 100 words a day to that one too and angle for a May posting for that one

And I'm going to be out here challenging you all to do 100 words a day on your fics this month, I've been tracking and it's only like, three inches on a page in Word--you can do it, I believe in you <3
