I was ill, Peerless_Cucumber writes back. Why, did you miss me?
fuck no.
You totally did! Airplane can practically hear him crow. You /missed/ me.
Here is a secret: it feels good to hear Cucumber hate on this stories. Not because Airplane is a secret masochist or something, but because it assures him of his work's quality.
He knows he dropped that plot thread. He knows he didn’t explore her character beyond the three single personality traits he assigned her at the start of the Arc. He knows he was careless with contradictory backstories.
Peerless Cucumber has never called him out on something Airplane wasn’t aware he did.
That must mean he's still good, right? That means his work is not unintentionally bad, not worthless beyond what Airplane knows is his fault.
And so, Cucumber is a reassuring presence, despite his whole... everything.

Instead of being sent on the mission that ended with Shen Yuan getting stripped by a Skinner Demon (before Shen Yuan killed the demon), Yue Qingyuan sends Shen Qingqiu to the imperial city to deal with some political matters.
It's far safer - Shen Qingqiu won't get physically harmed and lost memories or not, Yue Qingyuan reasons that Shen Jiu's innate sharp tongue is going to inflict more emotional damage than he could even possibly receive. Plus, for good measure, he sends Shang Qinghua too.
So, Shen Yuan gets sent to the imperial city to help Shang Qinghua with a particularly difficult trade negotiation and a couple extra days for sightseeing/vacationing because Yue Qingyuan Likes To Spoil Shen Jiu Like That.
As a bonus, Shen Qingqiu's presence also reminds the imperial court to fuck off - Cang Qiong doesn’t deal with politics, they stay out of it and prioritize saving people, so please stop telling them to accept bribes and refuse missions to this or that place that just so happens to be where some enemy politician's fam is located.
Luo Binghe tags along to act as Shen Qingqiu's servant because Shen Yuan demanded it - the sheep can't get bullied on the peak while he's away! - and Yue Qingyuan also thought that Luo Binghe's presence would help encourage Shen Qingqiu to take his meds and eat properly. You know, the basic self-care things that Shen Qingqiu should do more.
Anyways, Shen Yuan does what Shen Yuan does and wifebeams the crown prince. And the whole court. And the city too.
Yue Qingyuan has Regrets. The sheep is watching everything with wide eyes, only narrowly escaping the wifebeam thanks to his age and having not started puberty yet.
(The Luo Binghe a few years later will view those memories with Very Very different outlook. But it's too late.)
A literal line of horse-drawn carts come stampeding to the peak with proposal letters for Shen Qingqiu. And that's how Shen Yuan starts off his second life with a bang.
[More in #shen yuan's wifebeam hits the entire imperial city and there are Consequences AU]

Beta!Liu Qingge
Like, My brain just keeps replaying this idea:
Airplane added Omegaverse into his stallion novel because of an online friend he had, called 'Asexual-Menace' (Don't ask about the naming convention), who just kept brainrotting A/B/O.
But like, they had an extra focuse oj the socialization, how each dynamic would work, what are their differences and even fleshed out Betas as a subgender. Which, Airplane indulged in and eventually, asked to add their friends ideas into his stallion novel.
'Ace' would often beta read any of his begging drafts, encourage him and even help him with world building — which is why the Omegaverse became a part of PIDW
Though eventually, between Ace... no longer being around and Airplane needing to pay rent, a lot of things were left ambiguous, implied, personal information or small scenarios he wrote to get out of creative ruts at like 1 am.
What came as a consequence, is that all that background information becomes very tangible situations once he transmigrates as Shang Qinghua.
Luckily for him, SQH is a Beta, and thus, he doesn't need to deal with the A/O aspect.
Now he gets to deal with the Beta-aspects his friend had written, which are both good and horrible:
Pros: Great sense of smell, naturally boosted stamina, faint scents that don't stick easily/harder to track, No heats/ruts, rarely goes feral, levelheadedness is easier to maintain, pack-driven which means he can blend into crowds if need be.
Cons: Being the most responsible of subgenders, ferality is a dangerous thing for betas and usually leads to qi-diviations in Beta cultivators, need to run pack-mating cycles, needs to care for Alphas/Omegas/Pups equally, instinctual inclination to battle other betas to release stress
So, he's in a meh state, but overall — prefers to be a Beta.
Though, there was just one plot line he never thought he'd get to see through — but thanks to our resident Cucumber-bro, SY saved Liu Qingge's life and let's the plot line unfold.
You see, Liu Qingge became a peak lord without presenting — he's a late bloomer. His Qi-diviation was actually related to this fact, for obvious reasons; as not presenting makes it so bottlenecks are harder to break.
Though thanks to him being Alive, he eventually does present and as a Beta.
All of his readers assumed LQG is an Alpha and a lot of in-world characters did too — but that was never the case. LQG was meant to be a sort of mentorly-rival/Mid-Boss for LBG to learn/fight with. Him being a Beta was important to that.
Because Betas don't have strong scents, meaning not catching it in time or taking seconds too long to follow it, ends with it disappearing.
In Airplane's drafts, LBG would face off against a semi-recently presented LQG. A LQG who now has the natural boosts of being a Beta, alongside having had several major breakthroughs that were being held back due to him still being a 'pup' in that regard.
LBG would be arrogant, then be knocked down a peg by the War God himself — outlasting expectations and disappearing in tight spaces like corridors because his scent is so faint, LBG can't catch it for more than seconds — while LBG's scent is overwhelming, meaning LQG has the natural advantage. A play of nature/instincts + wisdown/strategy between the Alpha Demon lord and the Beta War God.
There's another layer to this, being a subversion of expectations — LQG had a presence; the way he stood, his tone and cadence, the way he carried himself in and out of battle. It makes sense, when you take stereotypes into consideration that he'd be an Alpha — but thats exactly why 'Ace' argued against it. Why they instead brought the idea of a Beta being the war god and how that would give a better showcase of how A/B/O and the subgenders can manifest the same instincts in different ways.
The readers, just like the characters in the drafts, are meant to be fooled by expectations then be blind sided.
Obviously, that was scrapped for the original novel but now, SQH gets to witness such a thing — though Obviously different to how he imagined it.
Since the Original SQH was the eldest beta amongst them, that means HE has to be the one to help LQG through those first stages of adapting to the changes in your body, to this new hypersensitivity, to the way your qi and meridians slowly change to adapt and the new instincts that come with being a Beta.
LQG has this earthy scent, like fresh soil, mixed in with some scent oil — something remenicent of the oil they use to clean/polish their swords.
Airplane would be so happy to see the plot line him and 'Ace' made come into fruition in some capacity.
Then it would spiral into something he didn't expect, because BingLiuShen + 'Compatible scents'
He was cursing at himself and the 'compatible scent' bs he had made for some of the wife-plots to work.

Scum Villain is really just a PvP between Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua.
Shen Yuan's system is flexible, it is open for debate and it encourages him to change the storyline. Shang Qinghua's isn't, it's rigid and set on the og storyline.
IT LITERALLY STARTED WITH THEM FIGHTING. LIKE, "IF YOU THINK YOU COULD DO BETTED, DO IT YOURSELF" THAT IS LITERALLY WHAT STARTED IT ALL.
Shen Yuan's system is trying to make it better, Shang Qinghua's system is trying to keep it the same.
Except, NEITHER OF THEM REALISED IT.
So now they're besties and if that's not the best thing you've ever heard, I don't know what to tell you.

Brain Overflow
You know how in my last 'state of the author' post I said I could feel the urge to write coming back?
Oh, it has.
It's terribly inconvenient too. I'm going to tell you a little about some of the things I've been thinking of and then whine/wibble a tiny bit if you click through to behind the cut. (You don't have to read the last bit!)
I've written down three different SVSSS (LiuShen) ideas in the last couple of weeks, added a few thoughts to older ideas, made a mental note of possible Cultivate extras, and just refused to write down others so as not to encourage rampant plot bunny breeding.
But let me tell you about a few of them because I'm hoping it reduces the urge to work on them better than just typing up notes.
The Lady Blackbird fusion Not sure what Lady Blackbird is? Well, it's a free tabletop rpg that you can download here. But the TL;DR is, "Sort of like steampunk Star Wars: A New Hope + Firefly + potential Jane Austen novel, if you want." I'll just C&P the pitch here: Lady Blackbird is an Imperial noble fleeing from an arranged marriage to be with her secret lover, the pirate king Uriah Flint. To reunite with him, she has hired a notorious smuggler and the crew of his skyship, The Owl. However, The Owl has been captured by an Imperial cruiser. How will Lady Blackbird and the others escape? What dangers lie in their path on the way to the pirate king’s lair? Can you see where this is going? (Actually, probably not your first thought, no.) We start with Shen Yuan transmigrated in a xianxia-by-way-of-steampunk gown, sitting in a jail cell with several men, a teenage boy, and a veiled teenage girl. System helpfully informs him that he is now "Lady" Blackbird, on the run to end up in the arms of Pirate King Mobei-Jun. His cell-mates are, as follows: Smuggler Captain Liu Qingge, Lady Blackbird's personal bodyguard Liu Mingyan who suggested her brother when LB said she wanted to escape, the ship's mechanic Shang Qinghua, the ship's doctor Mu Qingfang (or they pick him up later, I haven't decided), and "a goblin named BingBing". While SY is busy freaking out that System can't fool him - that's the Protagonist, Luo Binghe!!! wtf!!! System says "later, loser" and more-or-less abandons him (though still employing an OOC ban). So now you can probably see where this is going, lol. It involves at least a brief period where SY has to crossdress and pretend to be one of Binghe's future wives - a fiancée/wife of Mobei-Jun as Liu Qingge gets very conflicted feelings about his troublesome passenger. Featuring lots of Cumplane friendship, sassy MQF (as a treat), teenage smirking (likely aided and abetted by the adults), and space whales (naturally). I have not yet fully decided if the story Shen Yuan read was PIDW and now he has to figure out how the infiltration of "space with gears on it" into his xianxia has fucked up what he and Airplane know, or if the story was something like "Proud Immortal Starlit Way" and it was always like that. (Thoughts?) ---
The "SY Bodysnatches MQF" idea What it says on the tin... SY accidentally ends up in MQF's body instead of SQQ's. Only MQF isn't gone - he remains. This occurs directly before the Demonic Invasion and double qi deviation part of the plot and they rush back to the sect to deal with that. Then things get messy while they conspire to get SY his own body. Featuring: An extremely confused Liu Qingge, eventual Shenbros, and aro-ace MQF being very bemused at all times. ---
The "LQG Gets De-Aged/Age-Regressed" idea As you can guess: LQG gets age-regressed. This happens in Lingxi Caves instead of his death-by-deviation. He latches onto SY-SQQ and SY-SQQ is helpless to do anything but take the cute kid in. Featuring: BingLiu friendship, possibly Bing-other disciples friendship, but mostly establishing bro-code that makes Binghe switch his infatuation with SY-SQQ into family feelings as soon as LQG regains his adult body and it becomes clear that LiuShen is happening. ----
This is along with: Joint Custody (LiuShen), my SJ-SQQ second-chance redemption fic (LiuShen and LiuJiu, but different LQGs), a peak lords ascension fic using Cultivate's backstory (LiuJiu), a LiuShen timeloop fic, and at least another half a dozen fic ideas sitting in the hopper that aren't nearly as developed/that I am not burning to write yet.
I'd love to know which ideas you guys are most interested in. ;) Joint Custody is still next regardless and I'll probably not be working on either of the LiuJiu fics in the near future because they are definitely 100k+ territory and I'm still not ready for that. But knowing people are hype for something keeps me hype. ;3
I'll probably be in this fandom awhile, y'all. Please send help.
Sadly, I can't work on any of them yet, because I have over 2,600 messages in my inbox waiting for me to respond to. (This is not a humble brag - this is thousand-yard-stare territory. It was somewhere over 3000 for awhile until I started making a list of people who generally only left emojis or thanks and let them know that I was going to just thank them for all of them in one email so they didn't peppered by replies in kind.)
Not that I'm complaining about them, because I missed replying to comments so much (it's genuinely one of my favorite parts about writing fanfic), but it's still a lot and even if I could manage 100 replies a day (which for mental health reasons, I really can't), it's going to take awhile.
RIP.
More importantly - I hope you are well! 🌼

Thinking about Cang Qiong Mountain Sect and their possible policies on demons/demonic cultivation and I really like the idea of them having a laxer approach to these things specifically because they have Qian Cao Peak.
A deep knowledge of poisons isn't far from a knowledge of medicine. They regularly need ingredients from the demon realm, some of which isn't rare as such, but can't be sourced from the human realm, so having contacts in the demon realm eases the strain on that particular supply chain. Demonic techniques repurposed and used with care to heal rather than harm. Not to mention they must have at least a few people specialized in dual cultivation techniques - some of which might be used to drain harmful qi from unconscious or uncooperative patients whose mind is affected, techniques that are uncomfortably close to some very violating bullshit - because this is a setting with an abundance of aphrodisiac plants and curses and generally things that you can fuck your way out of.
So CQMS has a policy to turn a blind eye to demonic cultivators and some demon tourists (hi Tianlang-jun) if they keep a low profile and don't harm innocents. This is how Shen Jiu could become a disciple despite coming straight from his apprenticeship with Wu Yanzi. The members of the sect, however, are highly encouraged to stay on the righteous path so as to not encourage impressionable kids to make decisions they will come to regret (do demonic cultivation without knowing the effects it has on someone and ruin themselves early) or get some unfortunate ideas (to treat demons as they would people and hesitate when they clash with them; about 80% of the demons sect cultivators deal with are either reprehensible wretches a la skinner demon or dangerous beasts that need to be put down).
Senior disciples would have some carefully arranged extra classes about how to deal with demons or demonic cultivators who are not posing any immediate danger and would still be warned to be extremely caution and always expect these people to be more dangerous than anyone else around them and potentially hiding ill intentions.
So yes to ex-demonic cultivator child, no to letting your demonic contacts come to the peaks unless they are absolutely necessary for a medical procedure. Hell no to letting Mobei-jun come and go and sleep in Shang Qinghua's room as he pleases.
A maybe to Luo Binghe if his unsealing happened on CQMP rather than an event organized by Huan Hua Palace and their zero-tolerance-to-anything-demonic official policy. Shen Qingqiu still wouldn't have been happy about it, but I feel like the instant reaction to throw Binghe into the Endless Abyss was at least partially the result of them being in basically enemy territory - imagine the blow CQMS's reputation would have taken if Binghe was discovered there, a half-demon crushing the competition like it was a walk in the park, not to mention his personal reputation for either not realizing his student was a demon or allowing it for years.
In a less urgent situation I think he would have at least tried to interrogate Binghe if he knew anything about his heritage or not and try to track down the demon parent to make sure that the sect won't have the entire demon realm knocking on their door demanding retribution if he kicks the little beast out. Only murder the brat if there are no better options left, murdering one of his disciples would be too hard to cover up to make it worth the effort.

I'm re-reading PINTWILF and was suddenly wondering: considering how dense Shen Yuan is on SVSSS, how long do you think it will take him to realize Binghe has like, feelings, feelings for him?
I think he'll have to have it spelled out bluntly for him. But not necessarily because he's completely oblivious to the fact that he and Binghe are close and affectionate with each other in a "more than friends" way? I think by the end, even when he's still gently, jokingly encouraging Binghe to flirt with women, he'll have suspicions. Or... maybe... "he'll have hopes" is the better word?
See, one of the things I personally really like about MXTX's works is that while the protagonists are a little (or a lot) romantically oblivious sometimes, they're all capable of being very clever and observant, and I get a really strong vibe that their obliviousness is actually partly denial/disbelief that they would actually be allowed to have this thing (this person) that they come to really, really want. They often can't bring themselves to look at the idea directly. They know but also can't even bring themselves to think about it, because the rejection would hurt them too deeply, and rejection feels inevitable, by the world if not by the person they love, so they might as well blind themselves to the possibility of happiness.
It's a remarkably queer element that I vibe with on a personal level. It's also just one interpretation of things. Which is why, for example in MDZS fics, we get the spectrum of Genuinely Completely Oblivious Wei Wuxian to a Wei Wuxian who is so, so in love with Lan Wangji for so long but can't fully believe LWJ would ever like him back and, more importantly, doesn't want to "ruin" LWJ with everything that he is. (I am personally partial to interpretations which lean more towards the latter. I like obliviousness just fine, I like mixes of both, but the angst of love being known deep-down, but feeling unspeakable, being unthinkable, is delicious to me. The pining is so good.)
Now, Shen Yuan is a very different character to Wei Wuxian, just as SY is a very different character to Airplane. My personal interpretation is that each of the MXTX protagonists perform this "defensive obliviousness" in very different ways, to very different degrees, and for very different reasons. (I mean, for some of them, we're dealing with "loving me back would ruin your life and I love you too much to let you do that" and others are dealing with "if I reveal my love/lust to this person and they're not open to it, they might kill me for it".)
I actually went into SVSSS (SPOILERS) feeling really wary of the teacher-student angle, but my impression of their time together as teacher and student was that Shen Yuan's feelings for Luo Binghe were genuinely platonic. And while I make jokes about Shen Yuan being oblivious to LBH's feelings for him, he had a lot of really good reasons for thinking that Luo Binghe wanted to kill him at first upon their reunion. I think any romantic/sexual feelings only started to develop for SY upon their reunion and only became fully realized even later. My personal interpretation of Shen Yuan is that he's asexual (he reads as sooo ace to me), probably gay but possibly bi-romantic, sex-neutral or sex-favorable. (Though I also think that, in SVSSS, even married to Binghe, he still probably personally identifies mostly as "straight with an exception".)
I'm losing the thread of where I'm going with this because I'm desperately trying not to write like five different meta essays here.
In PINTWILF (SPOILERS), Shen Yuan is already in a different situation to SVSSS. Shang Qinghua is SY's mentor-figure and openly queer, openly in a relationship with a demon, and SQH has at least told SY that marrying all those wives in PIDW didn't make LBH happy. I can't remember if SQH ever directly hinted to SY that LBH might be into men, but the other family members aren't exactly 100% discrete or subtle about their teasing. Shen Yuan has a lot more space to get comfortable with his own queerness and LBH's queerness, though he has a lot of internalized homophobia to get through (and misogyny, my goodness, sometimes in SVSSS I really wanted to bop him on the head for his behavior around women even if he's simultaneously mocking the sexist tropes).
But there's still Shen Yuan's self-confidence and self-image to contend against. Even when he's not mentally slotted himself into the role of "teacher" and "betrayer", he's still had the time to mentally slot himself into the role of "older friend" and "confidant". Shen Yuan seems to view himself as a kind of boring person and he likes it that way, so while he would be happy to have Binghe as a partner, he likes him so very much, he can't quite shake the feeling that Binghe could do better and so it's best not to read too much into it. He's honestly happy enough just being friends (or so he tells himself) and doesn't want to "make it weird" unless Binghe takes the first step.

Roleplay to a whole new level
Pairings: Airplane/Cucumber
Cumplane AU: What happens if...Shang Qinghua transmigrated as Luo Binghe and became the protagonist, and then ends up going through PIDW but changing it up and ends up sticking a middle finger because "Fuck you I'm the protagonist!" to the system. Although it's not that great, Luo Binghe goes through so much pain and harship and gets beaten up all the time especially by Elder hammer! This sucks!
And Shen Qingqiu is such a Sadist! And yet, Luo Binghe [Qinghua] Can't even get mad, he wrote the scum villain and may have accidently made it worse, he tends to speak outloud when he goes in his daze.
So Shen Qingqiu just see's this usualy smiley annoying disciple look at him with a strange expression on his face, as if he's possesed it freaked Shen Qingqiu out for a moment.
"I feel sorry for you. Nothing has been fair and you fought so hard and it feels as if you havn't progressed at all..."
Shen Qingqiu stiffened, that hit a bit too close to home so of course, he ended up punishing Luo Binghe for 'speaking out of term' But by ignoring Ning Yingying, and forced to follow the rules of the system couldn't do anything. But learned he CAN remove OC protocal so thats great! And by stealing a better manual and hid it in his crappy one, he ended up stealing Ming Fans and swapping it with another disciples and stole theirs.
So now Ming Fan was yelling at them wondering why they had his manual and they denied it but with theirs missing ended up getting in trouble. Luo Binghe snickered flipping through the better manual and ended up improving in his cultivation!
Of course he was doxed points for course correction god dammit!
So when he fell into the abyss, he figured it can't get any worse. But he had one thing to keep him going.
Mobei-Jun, after this protocal maybe he can go by his draft! Mobei-Jun and Luo Binghe had a slow burn romance while Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu were supposed to be their parralell of two broken men along with the quiet men who encourage their crappy behaviour.
Mobei-Jun was supposed to call Binghe out on his bullshit eventually and be his most harshest critic but he only did it because he cared he loved Luo Binghe and wanted what was best for him and disaproved of his actions. And Luo Binghe hated it at first not seeing it for the what it was. Just assuming he was like Shen Qingqiu just another one to tell him what to do.
But after all the times Mobei-Jun saves him and vice versa, Luo Binghe see's the love this cold beauty has and sometimes its hard to understand him especially as the Northern demons look down on love and theres some denial in there. God so much stuff- but his happy ending was coming all those plots for the 'wives' were actually adventures of Binghe and Mobei-Jun! He was so excited, to finally have this happy ending after all the suffering he's been through the pain and torment he was going to be gifted his own himbo male wife and it was going to be amazing!
So...imagining his horror when he beats up Mobei-Jun as the syste wants to complete the story, of Mobei-Jun swearing his allegiance to Luo Binghe and be his right hand man.
And after beating up Mobei-Jun and having his loyalty Luo Binghe realised something was off...then it was revealed that Mobei-Jun was a transmigrator!
He...he didn't get his cold beauty who was devoted to Luo Binghe insead a sneering man- Cucumber bro, the anti-fan who despises Airplane but adores Luo Binghe? He's getting whiplash from this fellow transmigrator who has his own system.
He beats Binghe up, abuses him because of his garbage story but then he grabs his tear streaked face and bruised cheeks and scowls, how dare the man be beautiful even when he was angry!?
"Luo Binghe is too handsome and pitiful and has suffered so much but knowing your the author makes me want to bully you more!"
Why!?!?! This was too pitiful for someone like airplane! He didn't want to make a trash story! he just wanted his happy ending!
And to think it couldn't get any worse.
It was strange that Cucumber loved Luo Binghe and was obessed with him, but he was in such denial! Their happy ever after was just a pipe dream...
Or was it?
When Luo Binghe forget during a mission that Xin Mo needed dual cultivation receives a backlash and almost dies, when he woke up, memory foggy he sat up naked and grimaced feeling a sharp pain up his backside. "What?"
He froze as he felt someone shift beside him and saw Mobei-Jun lying on the bed next to him...naked. Did they- did they just-!?
"Shut up, this King wouldn't just let you die."
Luo Binghe was oddly touched his mouth repressing a smile as tears streamed down his face "My king!" He leapt onto the larger men peppering his face with kisses, and Mobei-Juns face flushed blue "Get off!" He slapped his arm but instead moved his body to hold Luo Binghe more secure against him.
It wasn't what he expected but he got that happy ending after all!

Death of the Author - Chapter 2, part 3/7 is up for my Kofi supporters!
Qinghua is faced with a difficult task and Shen Qingqiu is giving him encouragement. Also, is that a hint of Cumplane I sprinkled on the chapter?
Comic will be up on Tumblr and AO3 for all of you in due time. Probably around chapter 7, though I make no promises.

Back to Binghe with The Hopeful Hybrid’s Househusbanding System, I was thinking about the different foods he’d get to try while in modern Japan, and which ones he’d be able to make himself when he gets back to Cang Qiong. And just... my heart tells me he’d be home for about five months before he cracks and makes himself a burger. And the only reason he waits so long is because hamburgers would probably look so uncivilized in how messy they can be to eat to his fellow sect members, not at all dainty or refined or elegant, just big hunk of meat and bread and assorted toppings you eat with your hands, and it drips if you put sauce on it or cook it anything less than well-done-!
But also, like. Craving.
So he figures out how to make a decent bun with the flour and cooking methods he has available, makes a burger with some veg and various sauces on it, then hides in the kitchen to eat it, absolutely sure that the scents of all the other foods he cooks in there will hide it, and thus he won’t be disgracing himself in front of Shizun. And if he gets caught he’s 100% planning on playing the ‘it’s a demonic dish and I’m trying to get in touch with the portions of my heritage I find tasteful.’
Except he doesn’t actually expect to get caught, because why would Shizun go in the kitchen? Because why would Binghe know that his teacher is a millennial and thus can be lured out of hiding by the scent of burgers, pizza, chicken nuggets, and the like? Meaning Binghe’s just absolutely lost in enjoying his first burger in months when suddenly Shizun is right there, looking down at Binghe curiously and asking what he’s eating, with a spark of genuine interest in his eyes.
Skipping over Binghe tripping over his own words and then somehow surrendering his burger to Shizun and then suffering the duality of ‘Shizun likes my cooking and isn’t judging me for eating something weird~!’ and ‘noooooo, Shizun, my burger!’, the ‘new dish’ is approved of and Binghe receives both permission and encouragement to continue making them, including for others if he wants to. Binghe is exultant, even if this isn’t actually a demonic recipe Shizun doesn’t know that and he’s still okay with it, Shizun is the most bestest, wonderfulest, coolest-!!!
...
...but also he’s going to pass the recipe on to Sha Hualing and Mobei-jun and tell them to spread it around a bit just so he’s got his bases covered on it being a demonic food, just in case. Mobei-jun listens, recalls that food is apparently something you should give pathetic men if you’re trying to romance them, and tries this ‘new demonic recipe’ on Shang Qinghua. Shang Qinghua takes one look at the result, bursts into tears, actually growls when Mobei-jun tries to take it back under the impression that he’s miscalculated, then devours his burger exactly like a semi-feral author-person who hasn’t had a burger in over forty years. This earns the recipe a spot next to hand-pulled noodles on Mobei-jun’s list of things he knows Shang Qinghua likes, and Mobei-jun himself some very earnest offers of sex.
Meanwhile Shen Yuan’s confidently telling himself that it’s totally straight to decide you’re going to let another guy court you with the intention of marriage just because he knows how to make the closest thing you’ve had to a teriyaki burger in years, absolutely normal straight guy behaviour.

I’M IN SCIENCE CLASS RN BUT I GOT AN IDEA FOR AN MXTX CROSSOVER
So I read in a meta post that it was mentioned in canon SVSSS that Airplane bro has written other stallion novels and that PIDW is just his most successful.
What if prior to writing all these stallion novels, he wrote MDZS and TGCF. It was smth he genuinely enjoyed doing but it didn’t really earn him cash bc it didn’t do well (IMPOSSIBLE I KNOW) so he kinda forgot about them. Both stories were finished though.
Bruh what if Wei Ying and Lan Zhan end up in SVSSS bc WY was messing with some talismans and ended up transporting them there. Meanwhile Xie Lian and Hua Cheng end up in SVSSS because of a mishap in Heaven.
I can already imagine Qinghua shaking when he sees these four and getting slightly emotional because they were created when he was still hopeful and somewhat naive regarding how he would get his income.
Shen Yuan is internally fanboying because as a dedicated fan critic, he also read MDZS and TGCF and greatly enjoyed it. Like yes my man is oblivious as fuck regarding romance as a whole, but he could care less about the main pairing being gay. He was only reading them for the lore.
WY and LZ are lowkey panicked but I can see WY somehow getting along well with SY because they end up bonding over being constantly wrecked by their husbands.
XL and HC are confused and kinda wary but they warm up to Bingqiu and Wangxian after a bit. Binghe prolly tries to give XL some cooking advice with HC lowkey breathing down his neck because if Binghe ends up unintentionally insulting XL then they’re definitely gunna have a problem.
Ngl I can kinda see Hua Cheng and Lan Zhan kinda doing their own thing in comfortable silence because if their mutual understanding of each other in terms of devotion. Binghe joins them from time to time when all three of their husbands hang out by themselves. Like I can imagine Lan Zhan composing a new song, Hua Cheng making a mini statue, and Binghe making everyone a meal.
Meanwhile Shen Yuan and Wei Ying end up convincing Xie Lian to do all sorts of ridiculous shit with them. If you guys are questioning why Shen Yuan would agree to any of this my answer is simple, this man may be a lofty immortal but he’s still a shut-in from the 21st century. He has a lot of semi-pent up crackhead energy.
Xie Lian is confused but he’s enjoying himself so he doesn’t question it and is just enjoying having some new friends. Wei Ying just wants to encourage the chaos.
WAIT FUCK WHAT IF WEI YING MEETS QINGHUA-
Lan Zhan and Mobei-jun are going to be drinking vinegar because if their husbands end up having a conversation then everyone is screwed.
Wei Ying is a genius, but Qinghua deadass created the mechanics of MDZS, TGCF, and PIDW. My man has a shit ton of knowledge and he’s gunna use it. Pretty sure Qinghua and Wei Ying end up doing most of the with figuring out how to send everyone back to their of worlds.

Okay...this is my first ask for you (so sorry if it's a little awkward).....I'm just so happy and excited to find an SVSSS lover blog.....I made tumblr acc because I love MXTX works and want to read more metas about them, but most that I found are MDZS and TGCF blogs, of course I also love them, but my all time favorite are SVSSS (and I have not found a blog that love SVSSS the most, until now).....
So can I ask, what makes you love moshang the most from all of MXTX canon couples (I assume your fav will be something like this, moshang > bingqiu > wangxian > hualian)? And what do you love (the ups and down side) about each couple (bingqiu, wangxian, hualian)?
SVSSS is my favourite probably because it's the strangest to explain
And you're correct on the order of my favourite pairings!
So I'll start with Moshang and why I love them the most
1. Moshang: I think they are my favourite because of all the characters they have been together the longest. And what I mean by that I mean they have had a relationship and been involved directly with each other for the longest. They have spent decades tied together. They met when they were (physically) teenagers and get together when they were (presumably) in their late 30s
And yet they still have the pining and miscommunication because of cultural differences that Airplane should have known about!
That's part of what makes them fun. But also there is something beautiful in that Mobei always comes when Shang Qinghua calls and that Shang Qinghua can't actually let harm come to Mobei if he can prevent it. Even when they aren't on the same page the unwavering devotion and care for the other is beautiful
Shang Qinghua wants to be chosen so he makes Mobei run after him for once and let's himself be demanding and honest
And Mobei allows it, even encourages it to a degree for all his apparent grumpiness
I suppose in some ways it feels like the relationship with the most even footing. Because both of them had been pining in their own way for decades before they actually make a move to being together. It feels like they would have the least misunderstandings after getting together
Also as far as I know Airplane is the only one to punch his partner in the face when he just sticks it in and I love that for them. I like think they end up having the best sex eventually though as they do know each other very well
2. Bingqiu: I love Bingqiu because I like pathetic men being stupid and that's essentially their relationship
No seriously though I feel Shen Yuan does have immense internalised homophobia and the story is less him slowly falling in love with Binghe and more him slowly coming to terms that he is allowed to love Binghe and that he already does
He feels immense guilt for having bent the protagonist but he cannot deny either his feelings for Binghe in the end or how his rejection has hurt Binghe. I just think it's really interesting to be inside a main character's head while he wrestles with homophobia even though in the world he's in he's the only one with homophobia
No one else in the world is homophobic. They do not care that Shen Qingqiu is with a man. They are upset he's with a demon
So all the homophobia exists solely on Shen Qingqiu's mind. It's his personal baggage which he has to overcome more than any external barrier to their relationship and that's just really interesting to me
3. Wangxian: it's the first of MXTX's novels I read and I just love the ADHD/Autistic couple dynamic (which we also get with Moshang). I love how great they work together. I love how we are told at the front that they hated each other and then slowly realise that Lan Wangji has been in desperate pining love since the beginning and that Wei Wuxian was probably in love just as long but didn't understand that because he had so much else going on
And I love the slow slow burn as Wei Wuxian finally starts to understand his feelings
It's just a beautiful story
4. Hualian: honestly? They are only 4th because I have not finished their story. I really really like them but having read only the first two printed volumes I don't know them enough to comment a lot.
I do know that of all the Love Interests Hua Cheng is the smoothest and I respect that but I do have a preference for idiot men in my fiction

Crack SVSSS AU
Luo Binghe’s Washerwoman mother becomes accidental protagonist
Shang Qinghua is tired, so unbelievably tired.
Ignoring the fact that his 20 something modern day man has never dealt with anything resembling the scale of running an entire cultivation peak.
Or well *ahem* assisting in the running. Not that his Shizun actually did much other than throw papers at his face or drop by to schedule another “seclusion” aka vacation.
He also has to deal with the irritatingly attractive and violent demon popping into his rooms ever so often with absolutely no warning nor preparation.
There are only so many excuses he can give for some alone time in his room with silencing talismans before people come to a very different and very awkward conclusion.
Oh and did he mention there was also an invisible, omnipotent and omnipresent being giving over his shoulder dictating his each and every action?
Needless to say, Shang Qinghua is very very tired. He is also very very rapidly losing patience.
He sighs, loudly.
And because he can, he does it again, louder.
Unfortunately, his sighing doesn’t change the mountain of paperwork in front of him.
“Hey System,” he says, glaring resentfully at the pile of paper that sits there mocking him.
Ding
How can the System help User 1?
He waves tiredly at the pile on his desk. “Is there some kind of tool or skill that I can use to make this go away faster”
Ding
The System aims to please! There are a multitude of potions and artifacts that can enhance work ethic and energy!
Shang Qinghua lit up, “really! Why didn’t you tell me earlier? How much do they cost?”
Ding
These items can be purchased through our exclusive enhancements menu!
He quickly scrolls to where the System directs him to, only to stop and glare at the hovering blue screen.
“What do you mean it costs 600 B points to unlock!”
Ding
Our enhancements shop is available for high level players and promises high quality products that will greatly increase Users life quality!
“I barely even have 700 B points”
Ding
User 1 is encouraged to work hard to earn more B points!
Shang Qinghua groans as he collapses in his chair.
“Ugh, wish I had some kind of program so that I can hack the stupid paywall” he grumbles grabbing another scroll.
He pauses
“Hey System” he asks cautiously.
Ding
The system is always here to please!
He licks his lips wondering if what he wants to do will actually do anything.
“Execute order #420,”
The System, pauses for lack of a better word before popping back in, screen red.
Ding
Error, order #420 is invalid
Shang Qinghua laughs, “holy shit can the System accept orders like this?”
Ding
The System would like to know what Use is planning
He just waves it off, “nothing nothing, everything is fine,”
He bites his lip, giddy with excitement.
Over the next couple days he experimented with tossing the System some orders. Most of them were failures. But some of them worked.
For some reason Order #39753 would make him trip in place, no matter where he was.
And order # 2956383 would toss a handful of flower petals on him.
Nothing useful, but it did break the monotony of his days and make them more interesting.
Until one day,
“Execute order #304862,”
He tossed out casually, chewing on a melon seed while staring at the most recent budget proposal from Bai Zhan, always running out of training dummies that one.
Ding
Executing Order #304862, reassigning protagonist Halo
Shang Qinghua felt his soul drain from his body. He jolted up knocking a small pile of scrolls of the table.
“Wait what no system don’t do that!” He panicked trying to frantically remember the number he’s randomly spit out.
“Execute order #304862,” he repeats frantically, “reassign the halo to Luo Binghe”
The System pauses again seemingly buffering.
Ding
Error Luo binghe not found, reassigning Protagonist Halo to nearest possible designation, Luo Binghe’s Mother
The System pauses and buffers like a dying computer.
Shang Qinghua could do nothing but stare in horror as it combusted in front of his eyes.
Ding
Congratulations congratulations congédias Gish,.. 010010bdons, This system aims to please.
Please have a wonderful transmigration experience and good lucanshd
Shang Qinghua stared in horror at the spot where the System used to be
What did he just do.

my autistic brain hates the term "Modern AU" because it's not specific enough. It's shorthand, but it's shitty shorthand. "Modern AU" could mean other things, most of which I'm more interested in than what "Modern AU" is universally assumed to mean.
What yall mean is, like, "Modern Earth, No Magic, Alternate Universe Setting", which could have been turned into something unique and easy to read and filter like "memnaus"
But instead, it's like how the USA isn't actually the only country comprised of united states located in America, nor are its citizens the only "Americans". Imagine saying rectangle when you meant square, and expecting people to extrapolate. Is it accurate? Yes. But come on, man. Stop hogging words
What about AUs where it's the same setting but with modern amenities? (Elves in Rivendell with smartphones, Dragons getting scammed by bitcoin, there's a Starbucks on every corner in Jinlintai, dnd bards on tiktok, Link has a nintendo switch-- wait...)
What about AUs where it's modern earth but the characters are still whatever fantasy species and/or profession they started as? (Bilbo is a hobbit who lives in rural modern England, Leliana is actually French and Zevran is actually from Spain, everything is normal modern earth but Witchers just exist, Jiang Cheng lives in Yunmeng-- wait...)
What about characters from their original setting getting isekai-ed into our modern earth? That's an in-story modern alternate universe! (Shang Qinghua DOES leave and Mobei Jun fuckin follows him! King Arthur joins a Connecticut Baseball Team! Inuyasha falls through a portal and has to go to modern earth high school-- wait...)
Anyway "Modern AU" fans have fandom default privilege, and I'm cranky about language nuance. I feel like if these concepts had more well known differentiating terms, more people would think to write about them. Instead "Modern AU" means only "the characters, but stripped of their context"
Anyway anyway I propose:
"Modern Earth, No Magic, Alternate Universe Setting" or "Memnaus"
"Canon Universe With Amenities of Modern Earth" or "Cuwame"
"Modern Earth Setting, plus--" or "Mesp--" then you add whatever you're keeping, like "mesp fairies" or "mesp cultivators" or "mesp magic system"
"Isekai" is already a thing, I just think "canon character isekai-s to earth" should be more popular
Some of these need help, I encourage audience participation
