“My heart!” I said with a grin, presenting it to him. It still beat in my hands, bleeding everywhere. My chest was torn open revealing my ribs and unidentifiable pieces of me, drenched in blood.

“Holy shit! Holy fucking shit put it back!” Vox said, his screen flickering as he rushed around the room trying to figure out what to do. “How did you- why did you-”

“My heart was in a cage so I had to set it free,” I said simply. I placed it in his hands and made him clasp it between his fingers. “My feelings can never be known if I keep them under lock and key.”

“What-”

“Shh,” I said gently. He held my heart close to his chest. It was still beating, between his fingers, spurting blood across him. My blood. “It still beats, even now. For you.”

“For… for me?” He asked, looking confused. He held it so carefully, so gently.

“I’d let you pry my ribs apart all on your own,” I said softly, running my fingers gently across the gaping cavity in my chest. “I’d let you rip me to shreds. I’d let you eat me if you wanted.” I paused for a moment. “The feeling of your teeth against my skin seems like such an intimate thing.”
