Understanding Rashes: Causes, Symptoms, and When to Seek Help
Skin rashes, those pesky and often uncomfortable skin irritations, can leave us puzzled and distressed. They come in various forms, and their causes are diverse, making them a common dermatological concern. In this article, we'll unravel the mysteries of skin rashes, exploring their causes, symptoms, and understanding when it's time to seek medical assistance for these common skin ailments.
Causes of Skin Rashes:
Contact Dermatitis: This type of rash occurs when the skin comes into contact with irritants or allergens like certain soaps, plants, or metals. It often results in red, itchy, and sometimes blistered skin.
Allergic Reactions: Allergies to foods, medications, or insect stings can manifest as skin rashes, hives, or eczema. These rashes may be accompanied by swelling and itching.
Infections: Fungal, bacterial, or viral infections can lead to rashes. Conditions like ringworm, impetigo, and herpes can result in red, sore, or blistered skin.
Autoimmune Disorders: Conditions like lupus and psoriasis can cause chronic skin rashes due to the immune system mistakenly attacking healthy skin cells.
Heat Rash: Overexposure to hot and humid conditions can cause sweat ducts to become blocked, leading to heat rashes, typically seen in areas where sweat accumulates.
Drug Reactions: Some medications can trigger rashes as side effects. Consult your healthcare provider if you suspect a medication is causing your rash.

me as a kid: i have all these problems
every adult around me: you're not old enough to know what's wrong with you, you're fine
me as an adult: i still have all these problems
my doctors after i finally got the opportunity to choose them myself: oh my fucking god why have you never gotten help for all these problems. you should have seen me 10 years ago
#problems i have finally gotten help for that i was told i was not old enough to know about:#AMPS (was told it was anxiety and then when i kept coming back they said it was fibro Quite Literally just to get me to shut up)#(like the doc i just saw literally said 'they diagnose fibromyalgia here when they dont know what the problem is but dont feel like testing)#multiple food allergies (was also told the stomach pain and vomiting was anxiety)#seborrheic dermatitis (i was told 'youre just stressed thats why you have a rash')#(which- if im so stressed my skin is literally dying MAYBE I STILL NEED HELP?????????)#autism and adhd (my father knew! but refused to get me assessed bc if i dont have a diagnosis theres no problem right :)#anxiety disorder (oh so when I'm in pain i DO have anxiety but when i say i have anxiety I'm overreacting okay)#dyscalculia and possibly dyslexia ('you just need to try harder' I've asked for a tutor five times)#some of my doctors don't actually believe me about some of these problems BECAUSE i have no records from when i was a kid#they're like 'it just popped up at 18? seems suspicious......' like I WASN'T ALLOWED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR'S UNTIL THEN#there's definitely more but I'm still mad abt it#i might not be in a wheelchair Almost All The Time if i had gotten help BEFORE i lost half the feeling in my legs#i KNEW the fibro was a BS diagnosis#i tried to get assessed for autism at 16 and was told i have schizotypal personality disorder instead with literally zero testing#like my psych just refused to allow me to get tested for autism she was like 'no you have spd i Just Know'#same psych that said there was zero way i had anything like DID because my symptoms didn't present Exactly like the Only other#patient at the clinic with DID. i want to note that that was a 14 year old boy still being actively abused#and i was a 20 year old who was in a safe environment and had distanced myself from my abusers and stressors

At least 10 different medical "professionals" when I tell them the entire story of me developing POTS, which started with "I got the covid booster": Well, the vaccine doesn't cause *insert whatever the suspected diagnosis of the week was* so that's irrelevant
One cardiologist under the age of 40: Actually, we are starting to see a connection between COVID, the booster, and dysautonomia, particularly in younger people, and especially if they have an autoimmune disorder.

It takes an especially strong dosage of delusion for a toxic parent to completely ignore the obvious stress symptoms their child is having, then look them straight in the eye and say, "Well, of course it's not stress. What do YOU have to be stressed about?"

i think, at the end of the day, you have to respect the work you are adapting. a writer doesn't have to be a fan of the source material, or strictly follow the primary story, but you have to understand what made it good, what made it appealing, and what it meant to say.
i would say netflix's dungeon meshi rigorously follows the original manga, often panel for panel, to great effect. it's an excellent adaptation that understands the themes and character of the work. it celebrates it for what it is. conversely, i'd argue that amc's interview with the vampire is spectacular precisely because of the way it breaks from canon. it actively 'yes, and's the book, imo, thoughtfully exploring the themes on its own terms. changes are not inherently bad, nor is a perfect replica inherently good.
you can like a work, and not understand it. you can understand it and not be a fan. but if you can't respect it, you should just be writing original work.

we've had a migraine for the last few days that's kind of been coming in waves of symptoms and has involved getting phantom smells of smoke the kind of go away a bit as the headache eases off and then come back really strong as the headache gets worse again but I kind of suspect we have a respiratory infection that's contributing to the migraine and triggering the smell? maybe? it's reminding me of having covid.
our asthma has been bad, our lymph nodes are swollen and tender, our sinuses hurt, we keep fucking sneezing, we've got the phantom smells, we keep getting a fever, etc. but the issue is, other than the phantom smells which only started a couple of days ago, we've had the rest of the symptoms for a few weeks. it's been a few weeks of constantly feeling like we're starting to get a cold but it hasn't fully set in yet and I don't know what the fuck is going on

Tolvydas master of disguise!! Except, no, that is not Tolvydas.. That’s uhh.. “Peanuts.” “Peanuts Babaganoosh.” It’s, uhh.. French. Yeah. And you KNOW this cannot possibly be just Tolvydas in sunglasses, a dress, and some makeup!! Because, Tolvydas is allergic to peanuts!! So, why on earth would they call themselves “Peanuts”????

You know. I'm really starting to understand why they guess lupus in every fucking episode bc every single time some weird medical thing pops up i look it up and the cause is always Always Fucking Lupus
#personal#teddy talks#seriously tho its ridiculous#i literally have Symptom Disease#the weirdest thing i figured out is actually fucking mental (which. psychosis is also a symptom bc why tf not?)#but ive had hearing problems since i was a kid. ive also worn glasses for a good decade or so. both of those are because of lupus#and its super commonly misdiagnosed just bc its so vast#it has nearly all the same symptoms as diabetes but no blood sugar problems#also the same symptoms as narcolepsy including seizure activity#and pcos#and schizophrenia#and fibromyalgia#and aids#literally name a big scary disease and ill bet $100 that lupus can present with the same symptoms#this time im mad bc sometimes i get this thing where the roof of my mouth hurts too much to eat. wanna guess why?#also as im typing this im getting the fucking shakes bc....you guessed it! lupus.#thats probably the most and least realistic part of the show#most bc its could literally cause any problem on the face of the fucking earth practically#least bc its never diagnosed like ever. i only have a half hand-wavy 'probably' bc my moms entire side of the family has it or similar#autoimmune stuff and i have the rashes on my face and hands#but like. i camt get treated bc i cant get diagnosed bc it can only be diagnosed by one particular test#thats fucking stupid expensive and comes bqck inconclusive over 70% of the time unless youre dying or over 45#dont quote me on that stat thats just what my gp said years ago#which i barely remember bc lupus fucks w your memory#also! also. they say theres all these diseases that 'mimic' lupus right like sjorgens and hashimotos and rheumatoid arthritis but like#you know what also can appear as secondary disorders (might i say symptoms) with lupus?? sjorgens and hashimotos and rheumatoid arthritis#every single disease that 'mimics' lupus can also be ACTUAL SYMPTOMS OF LUPUS#theyre not even comorbid at this point theyre straight up symptoms#even other diseases that arent lupus ARE STILL LUPUS#edit: the stat is actually that it reports a whopping 30% chance of a false positive. but its also much more conclusive after 35 y/o
