Something always bothered me about the Terusai dynamic and I couldn't put my finger on why. I finally figured it out the other day when I was listening to "every breath you take" by The Police and realised that it reminded me of them.

I feel like the whole "watching over your loved one" thing is considered romantic, but I find it really creepy. Now, I get that Saiki stalks basically EVERYONE in this show, but stalking your friends and stalking a potential lover gives me massively different vibes.

Saiki watches Teruhashi to make sure she's safe, and drags those other potential suitors away because they "don't deserve her" - and while those guys he dragged away were dickheads, that still gives me major dodgy vibes! If we do go with the interpretation that he loves Teruhashi romantically at this point, then it goes from making sure guys don't bother her to eliminating competition. I know that probably wasn't his motivation, but that's what it FEELS LIKE.

I do think these two love each other by the end of the series in canon, but no matter how much I try to logic myself into liking them as a couple it still gives me the ick. At least people like Akechi or Aiura stalk him just as much as he stalks them, so they're on a more equal footing lol.

I absolutely love when fics have Teruhashi and Saiki connect as real friends, but I just can't do the romance thing with those two. I almost consider their romantic feelings for each other as something they must overcome, if that makes sense.

Of course if you do ship these two, mad respect! I'm just writing out my own thoughts because, well, it's Tumblr. Please don't think I'm hating on you if you do ship them - I can respect the ship from a distance even if I don't like to engage with it.

What have you done,,,

I don't have any specific headcanons, but I can talk a bit about their dynamics because I've thought (and written) about it more (and we'll inevitably get headcanons mixed in!)

The Pyskickers are interesting characters all on their own, but when you put them together, you get a mess that really shouldn't work as well as it does. Which is. The same for most ND friend groups asdfghjkl

A big thing that's important to me about them is that they have to be able to work without Saiki. Maybe not be functional, competent humans—especially because, like all of Saiki's friends, the more they group up the more braincells they lose—but they need to work as a friend group. Saiki, unlike with his other friend group, doesn't always feel the need to babysit the Psykickers. Toritsuka, maybe, but he's in a weird spot since he joined so early. Saiki and him were the only ones for a while, so he's kinda an in-between. But for the most part, Aiura and Akechi are usually actively helping Saiki with something. Toritsuka, too, even if 7/10 he's being threatened and/or bribed, 2/10 he's trying to help but failing—him succeeding that 1/10 already puts him in a separate category than most of Saiki's friends.

I went on a tangent there; point being, Saiki isn't constantly mother-henning and helicopter-ing them. Ergo, Saiki can't be the only reason they stick together. I don't want Saiki to be the only reason they stick together in my writing, mainly because I do like reinforcing the fact that not everything is about him—even if it's subtle. Things happen around him that Saiki is not always privy to, and this includes his fellow and honorary psychics' dynamics.

Akechi and Aiura are easy for me. Funnily enough, despite likely having the best relationship, even including Saiki, I have little to say about them. It's likely because they lack a lot of the complexity the others have: they're just really fucking cool with each other, and get along swimmingly. Honestly, when I write them, it's often with at least a hint of a romantic undertone. They're comfortable with each other physically and emotionally. Akechi trusts Aiura's judgement on when he should keep it short out of necessity, not because he's being annoying. Aiura thinks Akechi is wicked as hell, and also trusts his value judgements on people and situations.

From a literary standpoint, Aiura as a character tends to get in over her head and overly emotionally-invested in things—Akechi can provide a good counterbalance to ensure things can remain on track in the story, as well as help avoid any potential mini-conflicts that might arise from characters clashing due to simple communication incompatibility.

Speaking of communication incompatibility, Toritsuka and Aiura are full of it. Despite them seemingly being the most similar on the surface-level, their motivations, intentions, and moralities conflict. A lot. Take this scene I wrote of them, for example:

“Of course they were mad! You can’t just act like you don’t have emotions whenever you feel like it. Or, if you do, you can’t get depressed when they start treating you like it.” “If you don’t shut up,” Aiura hissed, grabbing a fistful of his sleeve. Toritsuka yanked his arm away to no avail, then settled for glaring at her. “I’m gonna—"

Here, we have Toritsuka actually making a good point about something; it's his wording that muddles it up. Aiura is quick to defend against him because she's protective of her loved ones, and is also aware that their beliefs differ sharply. Neither are quite in the wrong here; or, neither of them are any more right than the other. Aiura is right to assume the worst because that's typically what Toritsuka shows. Toritsuka is right to point things out about the situation. These are the mini-conflicts that Akechi smooths over by being essentially a bridge between their ways of communicating:

“Wait, Mikoto,” Akechi piped up. His fingers were in front of his mouth, his thumb cupping his chin, in a classic sign of thinking. “The wording was harsh, admittedly, but Reita is, in fact, not wrong.”

At the end of the day, though, they are friends. Aiura might be a tiny bit more willing to admit it, but both her and Toritsuka do care about each other. When they work together, big things happen. They just need a bit of oil to help smooth things along between them. Most of their dynamic, however, comes from their utility in stores:

From a literary standpoint, Toritsuka helps balance out Aiura's optimism to a reasonable point. Saiki's cynicism is often a big contributor to conflicts in my stories—he's unreliable, both in dialogue and in narration. Toritsuka is a milder version of that cynicism (albeit rough around the edges). Aiura can't always be right about the way of things, but Akechi is too prone to taking the middle ground; essentially, pointing out all the benefits to her way of thinking while also providing the downsides. Sometimes, though, it's necessary to just have someone completely shut it down, and fast. That's where Toritsuka comes in.

Also, Toritsuka and Aiura often act as the representation of the doubts and hopes of Saiki, respectively. They're essentially foils to each other, which is helpful when your main character is a hot-and-cold tempered little bitch. A sort of good-cop bad-cop for him, if you will. By having them verbally duke it out, it helps guide the reader a bit about what's true about Saiki's view and what's distorted by his way of thinking. Chances are, if they manage to agree, it's a lesson he's going to have to learn.

And finally, Akechi and Toritsuka. Though they're comfortable with each other to an extent, they lack the romantic undertones I put in for Akechi and Aiura. Akechi makes Toritsuka uncomfortable: it's hard to argue with him, for one, and he often calls out Toritsuka in a way that's hard to hide from. Akechi is the most successfully mentor-like to Toritsuka out of the rest of them—Aiura is too automatically competitive and Saiki can smother. There's also the fact that Toritsuka can sometimes trigger his trauma in certain ways, so Saiki tends to lash out. Akechi, however, is patient and steady. Anything Toritsuka says rolls off of him like water. Akechi is hard to catch off guard with words or actions, and deep down, Toritsuka really does need stability and an unwavering personality to help him grow as a person. I think Toritsuka is fascinating to Akechi as well, as I don't think Akechi is a naturally sexual being. He's not averse, but the kind of brain-rotted attraction and horniness that Toritsuka often exhibits can teach Akechi a lot about other people. The biggest thing that Toritsuka offers Akechi is a better understanding of other people. His down-to-earth nature can help Akechi connect his practical knowledge about psychoanalysis and anthropology to actual people.

From a literary standpoint, Akechi acts as a milder reign for Toritsuka. Aiura may be right to disagree with him, but sometimes a defter explanation is needed than Aiura's often emotion-driven responses. This is where Akechi comes in, especially because Toritsuka's language and laziness can make it seem as though he's not to be trusted as a rational view. He is, and Akechi helps uncover that.

Also, Toritsuka can sometimes act as the audiences natural reaction to Akechi's tangents. Akechi obviously likes to ramble, but Aiura won't interrupt him and Saiki won't confront people. Toritsuka cuts through a lot of that easily and naturally, which helps keep them both in character while still allowing the story to move on.

Overall, it's kind of easy to see what utility I get out of these characters. Akechi is an intermediary who bridges gaps of understanding, both between characters and the audience and the happenings of the story. Aiura is the outgoing one, the one to get things started. She provides a force against Saiki's heavily biased world-view and acts as a moral compass for her group. Toritsuka helps cut through a lot of bullshit and acts as healthy dosage of reality these personalities need to keep their heads on straight.

Plus, I think they're in an unofficial QPR. So.

Teruhashi Makoto's appearances

For @gumy-shark and anyone who wants a warning before he appears. Or who wants to know exactly when he appears to see him, whatever works.

Since the anime is formatted through mini episodes inside each episode, I'm going to list the episode number and then the correspondent mini episode plus the title of it if possible, say, "Episode X, part Y - Title". I hope that's clear enough.

SEASON 1

Episode 8, part 5 - Telepathy Silencer: Makoto's brief debut in the anime. He merely appears accompanying Kokomi to watch a movie he starred in and freaks out at Saiki for talking to her before being swarmed by fans.

Episode 9, part 1 - The superstar returns: Makoto goes to Saiki's house to threaten him to keep away from Kokomi, revealing his not-so-brotherly feelings for her. When Kokomi arrives to difuse the situation, he explains he wanted to clarify the misunderstanding Saiki could've had at seeing them together at the movies and Kokomi gets mad at him and leaves him there discouraged.

Episode 12, part 2 - Misfortune follows the traveler: After finding out about a school trip the class is taking to Okinawa, Makoto goes to Saiki's house to once again threaten him from trying anything with Kokomi, in the process describing things Saiki could hypothetically want to do to harass her and informing him he purchased a ticket to tag along on the trip, which Saiki ends up giving to his classmate Mera.

Episode 13, part 5 - See you again! Okinawa school trip: Makoto makes a brief appearance in the middle of the mini episode, searching for Kokomi after having ditched a film he was working on. Saiki makes it so he's seen by some of his fans so he can get rid of him and he doesn't appear for the rest of the episode (really recommend watching this one, as it has very sweet moments for the friendships going on).

Episode 16, part 1 - The perfect beautiful girl vs the super stubborn guy (part 1): Kokomi is avoiding Makoto after he tried to watch her change in her room, so Makoto goes to Saiki for help to tell her to keep away from their neighbourhood while the filming for his show is going on to avoid her getting scouted as an actress. Kokomi ends up inviting Saiki to a date to a neighbouring town as an apology for the trouble Makoto has caused him.

Episode 16, part 2 - The perfect beautiful girl vs the super stubborn guy (part 2): Makoto's show producers end up changing plans and go to film to the neighbouring town, where Saiki and Kokomi are, and end up accidentally ending up in the same place as the pair. Saiki does his best to avoid them and discourage Kokomi from spending more time with him so they can go back home and avoid Makoto, with not a lot of success.

Episode 23, part 2 - Break through the overwhelming financial power!: At Kokomi's refusal to date him, a new rich transfer student uses his power to ruin her friends' lives to put pressure on her. Amongst his tactics, he starts a rumor about Makoto dating an older woman to ruin his repuation, which is shown briefly.

SEASON 2

Episode 1, part 2 - Another Christmas challenge!: Nendo and Kaido are on their way to Saiki's house to celebrate Christmas with him when they stumble upon Kokomi and invite her along. She's accompanied by her brother, however, who yells at them for daring to talk to Kokomi before getting attacked by a pidgeon and subsequently noticed by his fans and chased away.

Episode 9, part 5 - Hope you get well soon!: Kokomi catches a cold and can't go to school. To keep the whole school from falling into mayhem, Saiki does everything in his power to calm down the rumors that she's actually dying, including checking on her at home, where Makoto is trying to take care of her in vaguely inappropriate ways and ignoring her requests for him to go away before Saiki knocks him out and takes him away so she can rest.

Episode 16, part 1 - If you're looking for a boyfriend...: To keep herself from developing further feelings for Kokomi, Rifuta Imu asks Saiki for help in getting a boyfriend. In the end, she ends up seeing Makoto when accompanying Kokomi home as he greets his sister and becomes infatuated with him.

Episode 16, part 2 - The best present for a beloved sister: Makoto is concerned about Kokomi's upcoming birthday and goes out to town to try and find something perfect for her, thinking about a bunch of creepy options along the way, and ends up catching Saiki and dragging him along for advice. Back at home, he presents Kokomi with her gifts, all of which she hates aside from one that Saiki picked.

Episode 22, part 2 - Details wanted! The super Idol's secret: Rifuta, who has become obsessed with Makoto, but desperately wants to hide it from Kokomi, recruits Saiki to help her meet him in a location he's filming at. She gets her chance to meet him when they get there and Makoto recognizes Saiki but misunderstands when Makoto offers a double date between them three and Kokomi (as Makoto is thinking he'll be dating Kokomi and not Rifuta). Saiki declines.

Episode 24, part 5 - Remembering the cast (part 2): Saiki bumps into Makoto when he's exiting a café, and Makoto starts goading him about his inexistent intentions to casually encounter Kokomi here. They are interrupted by a rival actor of Makoto's and Saiki makes his escape.

SEASON 3 / REAWAKENED

Episode 2, part 1 - Disasters caused by super (useless) powers: Saiki's powers go haywire with a series of small but mostly useless abilities. Makoto makes a brief appearance when Kokomi comes home from school and screams as he tries to hug her, just as Saiki gains a new ability to turn shady guys who get too close to Kokomi into weird creatures and accidentally uses it on him.

Episode 3, part 5 - Please go visit for yourselves: As Saiki watches his favorite desserts TV show, he gets the unpleasant surprise of Makoto starring as a guest actor and making plain reviews of the desserts, before he starts babbling about Kokomi on air. Later he shows up at Saiki's house to cry about Kokomi being mad at him for talking about her on TV and rejecting his gift of the coffee jelly he reviewed in the program, to which Saiki offers to talk to her in order to get.

LOLLL dw I have made the exact same mistake before rip...

Here's my controversial Kubosai opinion: I don't think Saiki would get jealous if he saw someone else flirting with Kuboyasu. I just can't see him actually getting mad about it.

Reason 1: He's seen how ride-or-die loyal Kuboyasu is many times already. Hell, Kuboyasu was ready to throw away all of his life goals for a girl he'd never even HEARD OF before.

Reason 2: Kuboyasu doesn't seem to experience attraction very much or very often – like yeah, Teruhashi got him at first but she's Teruhashi, and he admits he's never felt that way before. And then he pretty quickly gets over her effect and treats her like any other girl. He's flustered by Aiura but otherwise shows no interest. And he treats the guys like his bros for the most part. So Kuboyasu is unlikely to fall for some rando even when he's unattached.

Reason 3: Saiki actually has a pretty high opinion of himself, despite his pretence otherwise. So if he sees someone making moves on Kuboyasu, he's more likely to think [Good grief, does she really think that will impress him when he has a god at home?] or [He'd have to be a real idiot to fall for someone so desperate.]

So basically he would just be watching the whole thing go down with quiet derision and snide amusement.

UNLESS Kuboyasu started showing signs of discomfort, at which point Saiki would whisk him away and probably do something overtly possessive just to clown on the other person. And maybe steal some of their dessert to be petty.

kuusuke operates as a mad scientist since humans aren't allowed into the monster world (afaik humans arent even seen outside of jackson, who is half monster). idk what he makes tho. maybe he pulls a doctor finklestein and makes bone animals to roam the monster world?

kuusuke is the one who got his family into the monster world btw. i mean he definitely found it p quickly after kusuo started morphing and speaking in tongues and shit

kuusuke would LOVE the monster world, at least at first. he might get bored really quickly, but he'd love being able to be more of a crazy bastard than he already is

they were 100% human before being dragged into the monster world due to their sons

they basically live the same as they do in canon tbh i dont think a lot would change in the monster world

during the new years chapter maybe instead of saying kusuo has powers, they say something about his eldritchness or how glad they are to "worship" such a chill god. god i wanna write this now.

Kaidou Shun - Vampire

okay so not ACTUALLY a vampire but i think it was nopsi who had like an au where kaidou was like a weaker version of a vampire?? GOD i dont remember the name (hampir?? i cant find it on wikipedia, did it start with an f????). for all intents and purposes, im just gonna consider him a weak vampire

i cant remember if he'd be made thru a human/vampire relationship but if he was then i think we should play into the manga hair colors of his siblings and say that whole toki and sora and his mother are all full vampires, he was half vampire (perhaps he's from the father's side of the family from a previous relationship, since his mother has purple hair in her manga cover i think??)

draculara has her red drinks and her spf and her cute little parasol so OF COURSE kaidou has all of those as well. i think it would be very funny if kaidou had his umbrella customized to look like a hidden anime weapon, but it wasn't waterproof so he has to use a different one when it rains

bc im rewriting this im not gonna go thru my thought process so my idea was that takeuchi was a mad scientist who created midori after himself bc he only had access to a mirror (neither realized they looked the same). takeuchi died and chouno, who was smitten with midori, remade takeuchi who midori named riki and chose to raise as her own. chouno intended it as a poetic final goodbye but cut to 16 years later and hes still not over her lol

nendou being undead could also play into his appreciation for life.... protecting the obviously smaller and weaker saiki and kaidou.... his care for his dad that he never met (altho he might have two dads in this au?).... THE HAMSTER SCENE. NENDOU :((((

okay i need to preface this with something that is very important to me about this, the Japanese creature the jikininki/shoku-jinki originated in the story of musou the preist. as far as ive been able to see, there is a second story featured on wikipedia about a pregnant woman that is legitimately someone's fucking oc insert. im not making this up, it appeared one goddamn day and i dont want to make an acc just to get rid of it but i dont want to have my ip address just There and i dont know how to like draw attention to it. so please know that the story of musou is the only legitimate source of the jikininki and the "jijinki" are just someones fucking oc inserts. i dont know why they did this, i dont know how it's still there bc its been YEARS how has no one removed it??

Shit post about a stupid dream under cut.

In my dream the saiki family were celebrating Christmas. Kurumi and Kuniharu were in an argument which lead to thier Christmas tree being set on fire and Kusuo puts it out. Kurumi says she's mad at kuniharu for not doing anything special for her on Christmas (oh and being the one who set the tree on fire that too I guess) and then it cuts to a scene of the saiki family over a story book which told the above story. Kurumis all ' oh I'd never do that's and Kusuos like ' yes you would' because lo and behold the story actually happened :O. And the reason they're reading the story instead of living it is because of Kusuos powers. Then the dream morphs into my own family doing some kind of celebration and my lil bro misbehaving so they kick him out. And I'm like did you seriously leave a 3 year old to fend for himself? And my parents are like oh were not worried we have a tracker on him and we check where he's at and he's in some kind of apartment complex looking for his cousins except his cousins are at our house ( y'know the one we kicked him out of) for the celebration. Anyways he gets to the apartment complex and just phases through the walls and tries to help people out? At this point the dream morphs back into saiki K and it's baby Kusuo and kurumis looking at him through some camera being all proud over her baby helping people except the helping is really just scaring people. Then it morphs back into my family and the wierd phasing through walls thing is explained through my baby bro having shapeshifting powers. Except people can still recognise him ( y'know like in that one really popular post about the button) so my dad gets thrown in jail for leaving a three year old by himself. Then the dream turns into Dolly Parton bringing her shitty boyfriend to some kind of family dinner. They're playing some sort of word game in the middle of the woods and he's pissed that he's losing cuz he's shitty like I said. Anyways he gets mad about losing and sets the dining table on fire and they're in the middle of the woods so the fire spreads. The dream then morphs into a bunch of people who look like stereotypical native Americans ( like in Pocahontas and other old movies y'know just general bad rep) and one of those native Americans looks like lilo from lilo and stitch. Everyone's running around trying to escape the fire and this girl who looks like lilo but taller ( in this context she's lilos older sister in those ways you just know shit in dreams) ( she looks like half an inch taller than lilo ) sacrifices herself to the fire and the fire stops. So now everyone's looking for Dolly Partons shitty boyfriend who set the fire and they turn to him and he's a little emo kid in a hoodie. And again in the way you just know shit in dreams you know that this kid is responsible for the fire ( but by accident unlike shit bf) but he was brought here in these woods by taller lilo. So everyone's decides to leave the kid alone because they can't punish him but the kid has nowhere to go and he doesn't know the way out of these woods. So the people are at this crossroad where they have to decide whether to take in this kid and help him like taller lilo would have wanted them to or to abandon him in the woods because he caused the death of taller lilo. And then I woke up.

Toritsuka: the token "pervert" character in the manga. I'm just noting the episodes where he shows up so you can ignore him if you want.

Saiki Kuusuke: Saiki’s older brother, often makes and features in incestuous jokes with regards to himself and Saiki.

Teruhashi Makoto: Teruhashi Kokomi’s older brother, whose entire personality is that he’s a “siscon” who is in love with his sister. Exists As An Incest Joke. Do Not Interact.

Saiki Kumogoro: Saiki’s “tsundere grandpa” who acts out tsundere tropes but as a grandfather to his grandchildren. Still gets really weird sometimes.

Mera Chisato: There’s nothing wrong with her but she often ends up as the “butt” of a joke -- the jokes being that she’s poor and starving, or that she’s like a wild beast (often depicted with anti-Native imagery). I like her but just be aware that the jokes she features in can be really tasteless at times.

Zolbe: A background character who only shows up a few times, but nonetheless is a racist caricature of Black people, from his non-fluent Japanese to the way the artist draws his lips. He’s such a non-presence that I can only remember one episode he’s in...

Takahashi: A character whose design is supposed to make him look “stupid.” What I don’t like about it is that the mangaka gave him an afro and thick lips in order to make him seem unattractive -- features that are pretty common with anti-Black stereotypes. Other than that, tolerable.

Episode 14d (69): A brief joke about a high school girl dressing up as a maid to attract customers to the cafe.

Episode 19a-d (91-94): Introduction of Saiki's grandfather, whose gimmick is that he is a "tsundere grandpa" who can't express his affections well. The jokes get very uncomfortable because of the way it draws from romantic tsundere tropes on occasion, so personally I would mark this on the "weirdly incestuous" spectrum.

Episode 20a-b (96-97): Toritsuka

Episode 20d (99): There is a throwaway joke about how even adult men are in Teruhashi's fan club even though she is a high school girl.

Episode 21d (104): In a surprise twist, it is revealed that Saiki's older brother, Kuusuke, doesnt just fall under the "mad scientist who wants to kill you" trope but the "masochist" trope. So since he has never once won against Saiki... Yeah. Anyways, implied incest joke here.

Episode 23c (113): Tsundere grandpa

Episode 24b (117): Incredibly fatphobic episode with some unfortunate sexual jokes at the end. Hard skip for me.

Episode 23: While this episode gives some key insights into Saiki's childhood and why his personality became shaped the way it did, it also features some uncomfortable jokes about children's genitals that made me uncomfortable, so please be wary.

Saiki K: Conclusion

Episode 1: Features Kuusuke heavily and some unfortunate incestuous overtones. Kuusuke creates a perfect robot replica of Kusuo and makes some uncomfortable threats/comments about it. Later on, when Toritsuka possesses Saiki's body, Kuusuke jokes that Toritsuka should take off all of Saiki's clothes. During a fight between Saiki and Kuusuke, Kuusuke tries to make Saiki grab an important limiter device off of his crotch.

Saiki K: Reawakened

Episode 3: Introduces a new character, a teacher whose "suspicious face" makes everyone misinterpret him as some sort of sexual predator / pedophile even though he's a nice guy.

• I think that in part one of these atrocious head canons we established that Keigo would willingly put effort to find the clit, right? Listen he probably asks what's the concept of the clit, like why is it outside and not inside- wait you have another spot inside, yeah? He's is so confused and for what? Won't stop for it mid sex but he searches reproduction organ anatomy later on on google because he brought some questions in his brain that need answers. On the clit. You heard me right.

• Dabi looks like he once had a break up that was so rough that he opened a Twitter just to drag the other person down. For once, I won't go into detail and will let your imaginations run wild. 

• I have to do a a cursed one for Bakugo right? Well yeah uhm, he probably was caught flexing his muscles in the mirror during vacation, totally naked too, by one of his friends in his group and screamed in a high pitched voice and picked up that little hotel room fridge to cover himself up and chased them around the hotel room until he just crushed the poor item. To the floor? Because he tried to use it as a cover up and it just slipped... It's even worse if the friend was a potential s/o. He'll scream like one of the screaming/simping TikTok sounds.

• Bakugo also really hates chairs. Idk why I have this headcanon, but I know it in my heart that this man, as an adult, only has those round weird- ish IKEA stools around the kitchen table that's all. No more chairs. Nothing.

• this is too self indulgent but Kirishima and Deku look like the people who, while washing forks, spoons etc they create whole stories about them and treat them like characters, and others would just look at them so confused as to why it takes 16 minutes to wash off a spoon and why are they also crying but you wouldn't understand. This spoon is Cinderella. Back off and let. them. finish. their. stories.

• I feel like Jirou has phases where she only wants to wear black but then she sees a nice pair of jeans and buys it, and then buys some more and then she gets mad about having blue jeans and she dyes them, but then she grows out of that phase for a few months and she tries to find ways to make the fabric paint fade away

• I also think that she, after spending a little time with Momo, spends money on a lot of clothes, and it's not like Momo buys too many clothes, but Jirou always wants to upgrade her wardrobe and ends up feeling lost on what she wants to wear

• Denki and Kirishima turn into the same person a little more every single time they hang out together. You'll listen to Denki say 'manly' all the time and Kirishima starts trying to find leather jackets that look cool on him, and just adopts Dennis speaking habits.

Part 2

Succession

I believe I watched season 1 and season 2 this year or late last year. Either way, what a crazy show. I cannot believe that some of the gifs I've seen on this site were from ACTUAL scenes in the show - I thought they were shitposts. Especially the insane emails Tom sent Greg... god still can't believe that was real. My favourite part so far was when Connor Roy gave the speech at Mo's funeral. Truly nothing made me laugh so hard watching this show. It is interesting to note how the tone of the show changed from hardcore drama to comedy as the show went from season 1 to 2. Also how dare Kendall be like that - I can't believe how much I either pity/love or cringe/hate that man.

Our Beloved Summer

I love how realistic this show felt, how the flaws of each character was shown and the character growth that they go through in this show. The acting was stellar, the soundtrack was good and I enjoyed the pacing of the story. I enjoyed seeing the main characters clean up their messy relationship and make amends with the past in order to move on. Their relationship was truly the driving force of the show and because they both were so fleshed out as characters it held my interest and I was invested in them reconciling. I definitely enjoy this genre of slice-of-life/romance and felt this show did it quite well. I am surprised I enjoyed it so much as I've never been into the second-chance romance trope.

I did not know that this was based on the podcast, but the trailer looked interesting so I checked it out. While the premise was initially very intriguing and I really enjoyed the visual effects, the story left a lot to be desired. It definitely devolved into madness that made no sense very quickly. I don't want to think about it any longer...

Sasaki to Miyano

Loved the manga and look forward to an epi each week. I am enjoying the manga, but the same scenes don't hit the same as they did in the manga imo. I'll see if it is more impactful as a binge later on.

Update: Finished the anime and I'm glad there is more in production! I think the anime felt a bit slower than the manga, but last 4 or so episodes really hit the emotions for me. I feel like it got better as it went on!

Re-watch: The Disasterous Life of Saiki K. Still love it.

I just binged the whole show and man, this show really got the budget to do the story justice! The songs were all such bangers!! I don't know how anyone could wait every week for one episode. I wonder if there will ever be a second season, if so, I'll look forward to it!

Tokyo Revengers

I binged this show and while it was addicting, it was also somehow very unbelievable and disappointing to me. I was excited for a time travel shounen but this show was not as dark or captivating in the subject matter as erased nor as heartwarming as naruto. It was a fun watch with a few interesting characters, but I ended up hating the main character by the end of the anime. This show will probably fade in my memory... The ending on a cliffhanger was a stroke of genius to encourage people to read the manga though.

Re-watch: Gokusen (2005) - Absolutely holds up! What a show! It's so campy and fun while about moving forwards despite hardships. A great pick me up show. Can't believe how much Oguri Shun has changed since back in the day.

Tokyo Ghoul

Wow did they change the sequence of the story so much in the anime vs the manga. Stopped at epi 10 to get caught up with the manga before finishing the show off.

Update: Finished s1 and watched two episodes from s2. They really changed a lot from the manga, but imo the manga was way more impactful. Though, I do like the foreshadowing in the anime. I got so pissed with the decision in season 2 to just make Kaneki say 'I'm going to join Aogiri Tree' as if its not what he is fighting against until volume 10 of the manga...

Juvenile Justice

This show showcased such interesting cases involving children who commit crimes and wrote the main character to be the most unlikeable and difficult to sympathize with character ever. Her decisions especially in the last 2 episodes pissed me off and I couldn't even focus on the cases anymore. Her character was so stupid and absurd that I felt absolutely no sympathy when she suffered and was stabbed for overstepping her jurisdiction. An interesting concept but terribly written main character who was constantly positioned as morally superior (even though she was extremely prejudiced) that ruined any possibility of a decent execution. Of all cases you want the audience to sympathize with, you really put in the gang rape case at the end and try to defend those kids? Fuck off.

One Punch Man season 2

Just started it and am enjoying it! I found it hilarious when Saitama ran into Garou and Garou picked a fight against him and he just KO'd him and continued shopping.

Update: I finished it and while I enjoyed most of the Garou related story arcs, this season as a whole was not as enjoyable as s1 for me.

Kotaru wa Hitoragashi

TW: abuse (child, domestic, dating), child neglect

I watched both the jdrama and the anime and man its sooo sad but soo adorable. It has a great balance of just heart wrenching and adorable and heartwarming. Absolutely love both adaptations, I enjoy the 'new' scenes of the anime as well as the wholesome interactions from the drama. It made me cry a lot, but I loved it! Only watch it if you can stomach difficult topics.

A Business Proposal

I absolutely love this trope-y drama that uses every rom-com cliché in the book but does it effectively. I love the characterizations of the main cast and everyone's chemistry. This show is unabashedly FUN and I can't wait for more! I hope they maintain their tone and continue to emphasize the lighter more comedic aspect as it continues.

Update: Although I did feel the momentum slowly come to a stop when the characters got together, it was an enjoyable watch nonetheless!

Anne with an E

Rewatched/finished season 3 of the show. I am glad that although the show unfortunately got canceled (stupid bc of how good it was), I am glad most plot points had some form of closure by the end of the season. The residential school arc was very historically accurate and although a brief glimpse into the intergenerational trauma it showed on Kha'kwet I felt like it was handled with care. Its a deeply disturbing part of Canadian history with effects lingering now, and I don't think erasing it from Canadian history and media or sanitizing it is the right approach, so I'm glad it wasn't the case here.

Spy x Family

Ongoing. So adorable and I am really enjoying the antics! Finished the show. I felt like as it went on it was not giving me the depth I wanted to maintain my interest. It was charming, but not interested in watching more.

Meitantei Suteihomuzu/ Detective Stay Homes (2022)

So apparently it is only 2 episodes even though they teased more at the end. I can't believe its over!! It was a very interesting drama with a very interesting format. I enjoyed the story and though it felt like the plot was concluded, I thought it would start a new mystery in the next episode.

My Liberation Notes

WTF is this show. It speaks to my soul. Absolutely love it so far. The chemistry between the 'worship couple' is insane and nearly makes me scream. I love the slice-of-life aspect and I find so many of the characters and situations to be so relatable. I feel like you can really tell that this show was written by women the way the characters are all characterized, how the male leads are written and esp with Mr Gu. I love how unhinged the characters are and how many layers they all have. I have no idea what to think with the ending of episode 10. Also, I wouldn't call this a melo at all... its realistic but also so funny. I like the overall vibe of the show and am cautiously optimistic to see more.

Update: Finished the show! Mildly disappointed with the ending but I enjoyed the overall experience.

Heartstopper

I absolutely loved this show and am excited to see future seasons! I knew I'd like it since reading the comics and hearing such high praise for the show so honestly not a big surprise. All the actors did so well, love the filmography and you could feel the love for the story in the production of the show. Can't wait for more bittersweet moments!

Update: Finished the show and I enjoyed it! It was humorous and heartfelt. I very much liked how the show ended the relationship between Emimoto-san and Nagase as it felt very in character. Learned a lot about how the real estate industry works too.

Random facts and HCS for my Obey me oc/mc

Ryo doesn't drink even though they can legally drink in their home country. They don't like the way alcohol taste, they tried ONCE (well maybe twice when they were 15 w/ one shot of vodka when a family member offered them a sip-) at their 18th birthday. (The italian legal drinking age is 18) and they spit It out immediately lol.

Ryo also doesn't smoke, they think it's dumb and a waste of money. They kind of want to try vape tho.

Ryo doesn't drive yet, they just turned 18😳 but they're studying to get their driving license.

They may not seem like it but they LOVE children, they're an awesome babysitter, they used to babysit their cousin all the time. They don't want a family though, they're just so young and so scared to become like their parents. They also don't have the time and money to raise a child, a child also means MONEY. (They already have Mammon-)

When they first met the angels they were like "wAiT- si you're telling me God DOES exist??" And Luke was SO MAD It was hilarious.

Ryo can't drive but they can go on a motocicle! They have a license for that. (You can get the driving license for the motocicle at like 15/16 in Italy)

In the human realm Ryo has a part-time job at a bar and is studying at university!

Ryo is currently moving out, they're going to their stepsister's place until they find an apartment where they can stay.

Ryo also has a tendency to kiss their friends out of the blue. Not kisses on the mouth, Just platonic kisses on the cheeks, forehead, head, even in the tummy sometimes 😳

As clingy as they can get they also need alone time, so usually on sundays they spend the whole day in their room.

Ryo and Levi watch a lot of anime togheter, they just finished Saiki k.

They're also trying to shift realities😳😳

Occasionaly Mammon, Levi Ryo and Beel (and Belphie too sometimes bc Beel) have sleepovers togheter.

Mammon and Ryo are absolute toddlers, but Mirai knows when to stop and somehow has a very good influence on Mammon. He started getting less in trouble since he met them.

Ryo is always so understanding with Mammon, he truly feels cherished when he's with them. Ryo and Mammon went through similar traumas.

Asmo was in tears, Satan was quiet, Levi didn't have the courage to even look at them in the eye, Lucifer was mad but was also quiet, Beel was sad and Belphie was shocked.

After that Ryo and Mammon left the Devildom for a couple of months, so Mammon could heal from that.

The brothers ended up going to Ryo's house and they all apologized to him. Mirai didn't want to forgive them but Mammon did, so they kept quiet.

Anyways

Mammon picked up a few habits from Ryo, aka gesticulating. He doesn't gesticulate as much as they do but he does some of their hand gestures.

Something he does the iconig italian hand gesture. THAT MEANS "WHAT" BY THE WAY.

And Ryo says that he became italian as a joke lol.

They also taught Mammon a few frases in italian

He now knows, insults, greetings, and other basing phrases.

@disgruntled-twig I've posted about Akechi and Kuboyasu specifically a couple of times (uh. wait a few years lol) and a few more times as a general "all the Psychickers have a huge crush on Kuboyasu" ship haha! It's on my ship chart and everything XD

I just think it would be SO funny if the Psychickers simped for Kuboyasu HARD on main and he's just completely oblivious and thinks they're platonic besties for like. Years.

The Psychickers aren't even mad about it because Kuboyasu's internal limit for what is acceptable to do with homies has been highly skewed by being in gangs from all-boys schools (imo), so they get to cuddle with him whenever he comes over to hang out. They put on their cutest fits, fight over who gets to sit on his lap this time, and flirt like hell and Kuboyasu is just like "hahaha these guys are great!".

It's just a total clown show and it's so so funny to me personally. They'll eventually get him in the polycule but the journey is long and hilarious.

So this is a thing that will canonically happen in my Moving Forward universe (I think it's already been mentioned that the Psychickers have lil crushes on him in Extra Love Stories 2 iirc?) and I've doodled it because it tickles my funny bone so much:

But as for Akechi and Kuboyasu specifically, I totally think they could have chemistry, but they need to spend more time together for that to happen.

It seems like Akechi can definitely dial down his chatter if he wants to– note how he behaves himself with Saiki's mom! So I think once Akechi officially joins the friend group post-canon, he'll try to limit his monologuing at first to give them all a chance to get used to him lol. EXTREMELY difficult for him but worth the effort since these are his Kusuo-kun's beloved friends.

Kuboyasu will be getting more patient over time, plus he'll be able to put up with Akechi a lot more once he learns to trust him and isn't on the defensive. That's the shadow leader's homie after all, if Saiki trusts Akechi then that's enough of an endorsement for him!

Once they're comfortable around each other, I think they'd get along really well! Kuboyasu is curious and kind of a romantic by nature, so I think he'd be fascinated by Akechi's knowledge of the natural world (as seen when he identified the bug in the sweet potato episode).

Akechi's nature knowledge seems to be based mostly on encyclopedias vs personal experience, so it would be SO fun for them to go hiking and find all of these creatures and plants in nature together! I usually include Nendo and Mera in the hiking club, but there's no reason why they can't go on solo adventures together haha.

Also, we know Akechi likes Cyborg Ciderman, which is an advertisement disguised as cheesy action anime (is it an anime in-universe actually?? hsfjdlshfks hard to tell). So I bet he'd have fun watching action flicks with Kuboyasu, and Kuboyasu would definitely like watching anime with Akechi, he clearly likes Dragonball and I can see them talking fan theories and stuff!

Another point of connection, and I've posted about it before but I can't find it, could be self-defense. Akechi would definitely ask Kuboyasu for some fighting tips n tricks, so he doesn't have to resort to ...chemical warfare... any more. And Kuboyasu wants to be a teacher, so this is good practice, and they start practicing and sparring.

Akechi isn't physically strong, and he'll never be as fast as Kuboyasu, but his ability to predict the opponent's moves are uncanny and he's clearly good at strategy, so he might be able to dodge and land hits unexpectedly. Not enough to rival Kuboyasu but enough to keep himself safe and be a fun challenge!

Anyways, I think it's an interesting and fun ship! Plan to write some formally eventually, just have a LOT of WIPs already and I've been more on a comics kick lately than writing so we'll see lol. Thanks for the ask!!
