I’ve read your google docs of the katayanagi twins’ fashion. Super interesting stuff and I love it as both a fashion enthusiast and fan of the siblings. Your document really emphasizes the distinction between those two even with the very little info we have on them (kyle’s style could be late 80s japanese pop while ken’s style could be more leaning towards visual kei). Also matches their personalities (ramona mentioned kyle is the hothead of the two, so I guess the pretty and proper bad boy kind of look fits him)

Something about your endnote fascinates me, however. You mentioned something about the twins’ relationship being strained but then strengthened after ramona’s betrayal. Would you implore more on the idea? I’m now invested in it very much…. thank you and have a good day

Thank you!!! I mostly based my looks off this piece of concept art by O’Malley, which makes me think the personalities the twins had in their few anime appearances were just parts that weren’t as well communicated in Vol. 5

But as for the second bit, I think the twins weren’t exactly on great terms, even before Ramona. A decent part of this has to do with my own personal head cannons surrounding Kyle and how I perceived his and Ramona’s relationship with alcohol, but also with just how different the twins seem to be under the surface. They seem like they would run in almost completely opposite social circles and be invested in similarly opposite things.

And it’s honestly really tied to their teens. Basically, their parents kinda unintentionally set up a dynamic where Kyle felt like Ken got away with everything (piercings, weird clothes, going out to band shows and having a more trusting relationship with their parents) and Ken thought Kyle couldn’t get his act together (partying, showing up back home late, getting in fight with their parents). Neither was true as in reality their parents let a lot of stuff with Ken slide that wouldn’t have otherwise because “well at least he’s not drunk” and Kyle was genuinely going through some serious mental shit but not telling anyone so his actions just looked super random and mean spirited. So by the time they get to college, they haven’t really addressed this weird image they have of the other in their heads.

And it explains how Ramona was even able to two time siblings. They’re not going to the same parties, they’re not really talking at length about their lives (since they never mention enough detail to make the other suspicious), they’re probably not really bothering each other much if they share a dorm. Ramona unconsciously sees and plays this divide, knowing they’re not really together enough for her to get caught.

It also emphasizes for me a very emotional aspect for all three of them. Ramona is hot off a messy break up (Roxie), the breakup that ended her first relationship with a women and also seems to be her first attempt at having something…maybe not serious but genuine (it seemed more important than anything with Matt Todd or Lucas). Shes hardly in the headspace to be in a relationship, and maybe after some nights out, she’s terrified and not sure what to do because whoops she’s in two! And the longer it goes on the less Ramona actually wants to fix it because it’s kinda fun in a messed up way, and the twins aren’t bad company…until it all comes crashing down and she’s out the door before they even notice she’s gone. I think Ramona’s relationship with the twins is her at her actual lowest, with her being most at fault for what happened and the least justified in bolting afterwards. This low point is exactly when Gideon finds her, unsure and upset at herself, in exactly the position to manipulate her. (Sorry if this came off a little Ramona bash-y, I love Ramona but this girl makes bad choices)

As for the twins, I think the really strong emotional beat here is the idea of how avoidable it would’ve felt for them. How if they had just been able to set aside their own bullshit, if they had even bothered to connect at all, they could’ve figured it out in a few days, rather than in a few weeks or a few months. Ramona’s betrayal is catalyst for them to sit down and just…talk out a lot of their own personal crap.

But yeah that’s why. Sorry this got super massively long, but I hope you liked it and it wasn’t too ramblely lol.

“hey opal,” no one asked, “what is on your spreadsheet of fic numbers?”

well, because i’m excited about it, i'll tell you! and maybe make a video on it, now that i’m thinking about it, actually

anyway (i’m putting this under a cut bcus it’s gonna get long lmao)

for this particular project, i decided to run it a little differently than my spreadsheet for my taz fics, since that was a general fandom categorization thing and this is for a specific fic, also that one wasn’t even color coordinated, which looking at it now it Should Be but that’s smth for another time

so!! my current project, beyond the divide, as you know if you read my last post is divided into several documents for clarity and ease of browsing. i use the same general categories on my spreadsheet

the published/next to be published doc(s) (there’s only one for now but as i was saying in my prevous post, i have a feeling i’ll be needing another one soon) has a table, the “official but not next in line” chapters is the next table, then the unofficial chapters, and then the spin-offs, lore doc, and non-main character doc on the final table. my interactive story doc didn’t exist at the time of initial set up and considering it’s like, an entire different thing i probably won’t add it

there’s also a key, which has each possible PoV character (the chapters are in second person) and their chat abbreviation for another use, notes for asterisks i add to the table itself, and the “finished chapter” and “finished words” sections -- which is important and kind of the biggest difference between this and my taz spreadsheet, bcus on this one i’m only tracking things like word count and how long i worked on a given chp after the chapters are done to help minimize anxiety over taking too long to write smth or not writing enough words. as opposed to my taz spreadsheet where i track progress every time i work on a document

but that’s off topic jkflds

each table has 8 columns, seven named and one general use. the named columns are:

chapter number, word count, date start, date end, days taken, pestercount, and pestered (yes, this is a homestuck fic, i’m, hiding that down here bcus i can’t think of a good substitution)

chapter number is pretty self explanatory, and also most of the columns are labeled “N/A” bcus only one doc has published and therefore numbered chapters; the not-next-in-line has TBD in its entire column.

word count is just that! the word count of each chapter. this isn’t recorded until the chapter is done, whether that means “i wrapped up the scene and decided it was done” or “i put this up for public consumption”

- fun fact! the longest chapter currently is 4297 words long and is about one of the main couples confessing, lmao (the second longest chapter is 4237 words and is the same couple meeting) (the couple is rosemary. yes i might be projecting onto rose a lil bit)

date start and end are just that -- the days a chapter was started and ended, because i think that’s fun to look at and also if i want to go dig up the music i was listening to at the time i can narrow my history down to those dates. days taken is just the space between those

- the shortest time i’ve taken on a chapter is 0 days! i believe i wrote those (there’s two) in one sitting each. the longest is currently 45 days, though the current chapter is approaching that number quickly and some chapters are untouched since june or august, lol

pestercount is the number of text conversations in a given chapter, which are counted based on the number of “X began pestering Y” lines, and pestered lists who was involved in those conversations

- the current highest is 5, all in chapter one, and most chapters end up with 0 at the moment

the final column has three blocks on the first table -- total words, ao3 words, and average words per chapter -- two on the next two-- total words and average words per chapter -- and one on the final table -- total words

total words and average words per chapter are... what they say on the tin! calculated at the end of each chapter completion to keep in the line of not pushing myself to artificially extend chapters because i see how long they are in comparison to other chapters. ao3 lists a different word count than my google doc math by around five words, so i keep it as a record just bcus i think it’s fun

each row is color-coded to the narrator so i can keep track at a glance of who’s recently had a “turn” and what characters might need more expansion and narration time and to reference back if i need to remember something about a particular voice

and that’s all i can think of for now! if you’ll excuse me, it’s 4:14 am and i kind of want to go to bed but i also want to color-code my taz spreadsheet, and i’m off to do one of those. hope you enjoyed this little breakdown of my spreadsheet!

List of Iorveth/Roche WiPs

Because somethings I like to torment myself by showing how many fucking things I’m working on. Doesn’t help that lately, I’ve started a new WiP every time I get stuck in another fic. So, in no particular order (literally just how the tabs are ordered in my window lmao), here are all my Iorveth/Roche WiPs

2 fics in the Petals and Stripes ‘verse - one with Roche’s POV straight after and one of the Stripes’ POV as they deal with the aftermath... and try to help their boss woo Iorveth. Surprising no one, they’re terrible at it.

Curse breaking WiP where True Love’s Kiss strong emotion for one’s enemy saves Iorveth’s life. And then he, Roche, and Triss team up to go save the Scoia’tael.

Roche’s POV WiP set before they first meet. Includes some nice knife and blood kink during a face off between Iorveth and Roche. No idea where this one is going.

Eye On You Chapter 3, for which the plan is thigh-fucking. That’s it, that’s all I got.

Fake dating casefic (The Curious Case of the Murivel Resort for Couples). rn they’re playing strip gwent and I somehow signed up to write 5 different gwent games for this 😢

Competitive makeouts (The Chase) rn they’re spiderman kissing, but there’s gonna be a conspiracy plot that Iorveth has to reveal.

New ‘verse involving Iorveth/Roche/Kayran and Roche/Foltest lmao. First WiP is Roche running into Iorveth during his monthly fuckdate with the Kayran... and then joining in. Second WiP is a comparison of Roche’s two relationships and how they make him feel. For some reason, I framed it around the Chivalric Virtues from Blood & Wine and made it a 5+1 lol

Pining and Poignards, a WiP in which there is pining and stabbing lol. A poignard is a type of knife, which Iorveth generously “gifts” to Roche. rn Iorveth is sneaking around the army base and has just caught Roche masturbating. I...only sort of know where I’m going with this one.

Tittyfucking. That’s it, that’s the plot lmao. Iorveth is a lil obsessed with Roche’s chest and attempts to fuck it.

Gross Gremlin Man aka Iorveth prefers Roche nasty and sweaty. Uh... I just started this one and somehow it went from “huh, why do I not mind Roche when he’s all sweaty” to “hmm, I think I’m gonna steal his clothes and smell them while I touch myself” and I’m still working on the transition from one to the other lol

Red is the Rose Chapters 3+4 - Ch3 is about ready for posting, but I’m trying to figure out how much of the events of W2 to cover or if I should just skip all of them and get to the post-W2 plot.

Fun fact: all of those WiPs above are in 1 document because I like to make life difficult for Google Docs. But the other docs are all specific ‘verses (or themes) and these ones are theoretically standalone. Theoretically.

Letters - a post-W3 WiP where Roche is running Temeria and hates it and starts receiving letters from Iorveth (sealed with a forget me not in wax).

WiP where they both get captured and imprisoned in a magic cell and whoops, sex ends up happening... and then their teams come rescue them.

Different first meeting identity porn WiP - they meet in Flotsam just as the Scoia’tael is starting to get formed. Neither knows who the other is, but they have amazing sex and every time they’re in Flotsam together, they meet up again. But Iorveth, of course, leads the Scoia’tael, and Roche has been tasked with hunting them down.

Crones WiP - Roche went to the Crones to plead for his men back. He gets them back - but as ghosts. He also gets assigned to help work on a cure to the Catriona plague, and it turns out one of the people already working on it is Iorveth. I literally just want Blue Stripes ghosts laughing at Roche’s bad flirting, but somehow it’s mostly angst rn ooops

Love Shack WiPs

First Time WiP - this one is so close to being done dammit. It’s actually the first WiP I ever started for this pairing and it just needs like 2 more orgasms aaaaahhhhhh

Medicine WiP - morning after their first time, they have a discussion about scars and medicine and how elven medicine is way better than human medicine. Not at all based on the billions of medical procedures I’m going through or anything.

Unlucky Number Thirteen - I want to write about how he starts spying for Roche and their developing kinda mentorship relationship

Theme 1: Possessiveness aka all the kinky sex kinda embarrassed to admit to these which is dumb because fuck shame

Piss fic - uh, kinda what it sounds like? Roche decides to be an asshole and refuses to move out of the way when Iorveth tries to get to the bathroom - and somehow this turns into Iorveth pissing on his crotch.

Possessiveness - Iorveth has feelings about his nemesis and Roche does not know how to feel about this.

Tentacles + Breeding - a tentacle/vine plant instinctively tries to lay its eggs in Roche. Iorveth is not okay with this plant going for his enemy... until it turns out Roche is very much here for it. And also for Iorveth fertilizing the eggs after they’ve been laid.

Dream - Roche dreams about Iorveth being an elven king and himself being essentially Iorveth’s plaything, to use and to show off

Theme 2: King Roche aka hey, wouldn’t it be funny if he ended up in charge? He would hate it so much

Murder husbands - Iorveth breaks into the palace and finds the very unhappy “King” Roche, then they go run away and kill war criminals together. But of course Roche could never abandon Temeria, so he’s still in charge by day. But by night, it’s murder time.

Okay, technically this has like a line written for it, BUT bodyguard AU where Roche knows he’s gonna get assassinated without protection once he becomes king, and only Iorveth is allowed to kill him. So only makes since for Iorveth to become his bodyguard.

Arranged Marriage AU - inspired by softestpunk’s The Gift, I literally just want cracky fun where they are forced to get married and they hate it but also fall in love. That’s it, that’s the story.

Holy fuck, I have a lot of WiPs. But I think that’s all the Iorveth/Roche ones. Which is not to say I don’t have more, but rn, I am hyperfixated on these idiots, so these are the ones I am actively writing.

Hi everyone! You may know me as NEETU/NAV/NINA/MINA/NIA, or just by my URL, @villainrps. I had the real displeasure of having to read some shit the last few days, and I’m here to tell you that I’m not happy about it, it wasn’t okay, and here’s why! I had someone who I had never spoken to before and who I, honestly, was not consciously following confront me and admit to having stalked me over a course of several years before finally coming forward and accusing me of plagiarism. This claim has no basis in reality or fact, which I told her to her face privately before she made the decision to block me before I could reply further. I feel no great shame or even hesitation mention this person’s name or URL as they’ve threatened to write a PSA about me for something I know I haven’t done, despite what an overinflated ego believes and might have you believe, so I thought I’d beat her to the punch and “expose” myself rather than give someone else the satisfaction. Read on below to find out all about this rather unpleasant encounter with Sarah, @marvolo ( previously @lilys and @aangs ).

As I’ve already said, I’ll begin with acknowledging that I was, apparently, at one time following Sarah. We never met or spoke, if we were ever in a roleplay together it’s not something I was aware of, and her most recent old URL wasn’t even one that I recognized. I believe that I began following her when she was @aangs, and I found her blog through a friend of mine ( @herorps ) who was likely following Sarah for her RP resources.

I also want to touch on the fact that Sarah states she has been playing the character in question -- a canon character, Lily Luna Potter -- since 2012. I have also been playing Lily Luna since 2012, and I’m sure there are a good number of other people who have been playing her for at least three years, if not the seven that Sarah and I both have. I also want to state that I have never seen Sarah’s portrayal of Lily Luna out in the wild, so to speak, at least to my own conscious knowledge as, despite the fact that she’s apparently been keeping tabs on me, I’ve not been keeping tabs on her. I want to make very clear that I have never plagiarised from anyone, for a number of reasons: a) it’s morally wrong, b) especially in the case of roleplay, it’s not a concept I could ever wrap my head around as writing someone else’s character in any capacity for any length of time isn’t sustainable, and c) I don’t need to. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m an incredibly confident person; I’m secure in my own abilities, I would and have never felt the need to bolster my own skills using the labor of someone else.

Before Sarah took the immense courtesy of very brusquely messaging me with this accusation herself, she decided to present a massive compilation of evidence to the admins of a group that I’m currently in, collected -- again, by her own admission -- over the course of several years without my knowledge of, to put it bluntly, any idea who she even was. You’ll find screenshots of all of these conversations below, but I just want to make it very clear before continuing that this kind of behavior is a plague in our community, and nothing ever makes it okay to literally stalk a complete stranger for years, not even taking into account how calmly and easily she admitted it to a third party, another stranger, as if it’s something rational and normal to do.

Now, regarding the things she’s accusing me of stealing from her portrayal of Lily Luna -- face claim, occupation, house, personality traits, and a few headcanons that I believe to be very generic not only for this specific character but just as far as headcanons go in general -- obviously, yes, I’m as a whole denying all of it. It’s just not true. You’re more than welcome to believe whatever you want about me, but I’m saying now, for the record, that this is not true, and what prompted me to write my own PSA is to call attention to this absolutely reprehensible behavior, as it was total bullshit to me, but also as I’ve heard in asking around that Sarah has a history of making these kinds of accusations against people.

Find first the screenshots of the Google Doc she sent to the admins of a group that I’m in; the Google Doc itself is now defunct, but the admins can attest that these screenshots are complete and unaltered.

You'll see on the first page, she admits to having stalked me for "many years," and also posts that her biography has gone through several changes over the years, as well as the fact that she has people who can vouch for her who have been in previous groups with her. I, also, have people who I've known since 2012 who can vouch for me. She also says on the second page that she softblocked me at some point, rather than saying absolutely anything about any of this, despite having kept tabs on me for years and having said or done God knows what to other people about a situation that I had no knowledge of. Also on the second page she vows to "hold [the admins] accountable for the irresponsible way they handled the situation," which apparently just means they read this massive document and decided they didn't agree with her, so obviously they're wrong and at fault here as well. I really have nothing to say about these biosheet/introduction comparisons. I've run the similarities by half a dozen people now, and none of us can see how they're "too similar to be a coincidence," as Sarah says to me later, in our conversation. These are all fairly generic traits and headcanons; talking about Gryffindor traits, about her canonical family, about a headcanon of not being able to cook?, and another that literally just describes some basic Gryffindor aesthetics that you can find right away in a five second Pinterest search. None of these are unique to either one of our portrayals. This is a canon character with an established fanon. I'm sure you could find at LEAST a dozen other people who play Lily as a headstrong Gryffindor who has Harry's eyes and is afraid of losing her family. Towards the end of all this, she also mentions two similar character URLs -- mine, daughterofheroes, isn't even something I came up with myself, it was given to me by a friend that used to play Lily Luna. Additionally, she mentions some similar tags that we both use; "out of the ashes" was based on a really specific RPG event from a group that I ran years ago, and I don't think that I have to say that "lionheart" is about as generic as it gets for a Gryffindor. Then, out of nowhere, she accuses me of changing my introduction for Lily for MinistryHQ, a group that I co-adminned and she apparently briefly thought about joining, to avoid "[being] caught in the act." Remember how she's said her Lily biography has gone through many changes over the years? Apparently, when she does it, it's natural evolution and it's valid, but when I do it, it's obviously because I'm a vicious sneak thief and I don't want anyone to notice. Which, if I didn't want her to "detect" me in my own group, would I not have simply... blocked her? Softblocked her like she did to me? ANYWAY. It then details her conversation with the admins of the group I'm in, where she accuses me of plagiarism to them, but asks that I not be told about them at all, which -- I don't know, maybe I'm being unreasonable, but that's incredibly insensitive to the admins and the position that’s putting them in ( hey, kick this person out but you're not allowed to tell them why! ), not to mention still being weirdly stealthy about stalking me for this long?? Not only accusing me of plagiarism to them, then, but completely reaching up your ass and deciding that the reason you've kept all this a secret is because you think I'm going to harass you?? So now I'm not only a thief, I'm a bully too?? And, again, WE HAVE NEVER SPOKEN. In my opinion, the admins are exactly on point, telling her that the only person doing the harassment is you -- I have no idea how this can be seen as anything but, deciding you don't want a total stranger to have access to your blog despite the fact you've NEVER allotted them the courtesy of knowing you have an issue with them to begin with, despite the fact that you're helping yourself to having kept tabs on them for a span of YEARS -- and saying, like what I've just said, that neither of our Lily portrayals are particularly unique. I'll own up to that lol. But Sarah's not quite ready to do that, as you'll see in this next set of screenshots.

Next you can find the screenshots of Sarah finally taking the time to message me about her perceived grievance with me, finally after being quite literally forced to after her encounter with the admins of the group I’m in.

A lot of the things I have to say I've already said directly to Sarah. Before I was blocked, that is. I'm a very-upfront person, and my tone in these IMs is not gonna be any different from my tone in this PSA lol. But let's still pick through for any important things. This is probably a little petty to point out, but I really need to mention that she says she's "[tried] to just let this go" and I really wanna ask you, reading this: does any of this so far seem like the actions or mental space of a person who's trying to let this go? Because that's not how it reads to me! But anyway, like I say to her, the tone of this message is incredibly abrasive; I don't think it's at all fair that she's been letting this anger and resentment stew for literal years, only to come at me with this message and act like she's tried to address it to me before and this is her last warning before putting me on blast as a last straw. Again, like I say to her, I just really think this whole accusation is incredibly ego-based coming from a place of thinking that she has a singular claim to what is just a very generic portrayal of this popular canon character, thinking that anyone who plays this character in a similar way to her must, logically, be copying her because there’s no other explanation for two similar ideas other than the fact that someone is jealous of her, etc. Much of this speaks for itself, but at the end of this conversation you can see us talking about the fact that the basis for my Lily Luna is a completely different canon character from an entirely different fandom. Even when I mention that and link her the application from four years ago, she still insists that that biography, now, was even plagiarized from her Lily Luna, despite how little sense that makes. If I wanted to rip someone's biography for Canon Character A, I would rip someone's biography that was also written for Canon Character A, not stumble upon a biography for a completely unrelated Canon Character B and copy that. This one in particular just really. Blows my mind. She ends the conversation by saying that it's "ridiculous" that I won't "cop" to something that I did not do; what I find ridiculous is that she's now had three people tell her her characterization just ain't that special and instead she's choosing to fall back on this narcissistic tirade that she's apparently been on against me for years without my knowledge. Well, you know what, Sarah? I had no reason to care about you then, and I still have no reason to care about you now. But you know what, honey? If this helps you sleep better at night, stalking and harassing random strangers on the internet to feed your ego, then you just go on believing that I’m the bad guy and everyone’s out to get you. Clearly that’s what you need to make it through the day, so who am I to take that away from you?

In conclusion, this whole thing really just caught me off guard rather than having the intimidating effect that was intended. I know I didn’t steal from anyone, which is why I feel comfortable enough posting all this, but I think that this has really gone on long enough and some people in this community really just need to be held accountable for getting off on shit like this. Some people here are too scared of confrontation to call shit like this out, but I’m not one of them.

If you’ve read this far and your brain is still intact, congratulations! Because I was feeling really fried after experiencing all of this first hand. This is ridiculous, considering I thought we left this sort of rpc drama back in 2015. How to Install and Use Docker on CentOS

Docker is a containerization technology that allows you to quickly build, test and deploy applications as portable, self-sufficient containers that can run virtually anywhere.

The container is a way to package software along with binaries and settings required to make the software that runs isolated within an operating system.

In this tutorial, we will install Docker CE on CentOS 7 and explore the basic Docker commands and concepts. Let’s GO !

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with this tutorial, make sure that you have installed a CentOS 7 server (You may want to see our tutorial : How to install a CentOS 7 image )

Install Docker on CentOS

Although the Docker package is available in the official CentOS 7 repository, it may not always be the latest version. The recommended approach is to install Docker from the Docker’s repositories.

To install Docker on your CentOS 7 server follow the steps below:

1. Start by updating your system packages and install the required dependencies:

sudo yum update

sudo yum install yum-utils device-mapper-persistent-data lvm2

2. Next, run the following command which will add the Docker stable repository to your system:

sudo yum-config-manager --add-repo https://download.docker.com/linux/centos/docker-ce.repo

3. Now that the Docker repository is enabled, install the latest version of Docker CE (Community Edition) using yum by typing:

sudo yum install docker-ce

4. Once the Docker package is installed, start the Docker daemon and enable it to automatically start at boot time:

sudo systemctl start dockersudo systemctl enable docker

5. To verify that the Docker service is running type:

sudo systemctl status docker

6. The output should look something like this:

At the time of writing, the current stable version of Docker is, 18.06.1, to print the Docker version type:

docker -v

Docker version 18.06.1-ce, build e68fc7a

Executing the Docker Command Without Sudo

By default managing, Docker requires administrator privileges. If you want to run Docker commands as a non-root user without prepending sudo you need to add your user to the docker group which is created during the installation of the Docker CE package. You can do that by typing:

sudo usermod -aG docker $USER

$USER is an environnement variable that holds your username.

Log out and log back in so that the group membership is refreshed.

To verify Docker is installed successfully and that you can run docker commands without sudo, issue the following command which will download a test image, run it in a container, print a “Hello from Docker” message and exit:

docker container run hello-world

The output should look like the following:

Unable to find image 'hello-world:latest' locally latest: Pulling from library/hello-world 9bb5a5d4561a: Pull complete Digest: sha256:f5233545e43561214ca4891fd1157e1c3c563316ed8e237750d59bde73361e77 Status: Downloaded newer image for hello-world:latest Hello from Docker! Docker command line interface

Now that we have a working Docker installation, let’s go over the basic syntax of the docker CLI.

The docker command line take the following form:

docker [option] [subcommand] [arguments]

You can list all available commands by typing docker with no parameters:

docker

If you need more help on any [subcommand], just type:

docker [subcommand] --help

Docker Images

A Docker image is made up of a series of layers representing instructions in the image’s Dockerfile that make up an executable software application. An image is an immutable binary file including the application and all other dependencies such as binaries, libraries, and instructions necessary for running the application. In short, a Docker image is essentially a snapshot of a Docker container.

The Docker Hub is cloud-based registry service which among other functionalities is used for keeping the Docker images either in a public or private repository.

To search the Docker Hub repository for an image just use the search subcommand. For example, to search for the CentOS image, run:

docker search centos

The output should look like the following:

As you can see the search results prints a table with five columns, NAME, DESCRIPTION, STARS, OFFICIAL and AUTOMATED. The official image is an image that Docker develops in conjunction with upstream partners.

If we want to download the official build of CentOS 7, we can do that by using the image pull subcommand:

docker image pull centos

Using default tag: latest latest: Pulling from library/centos 469cfcc7a4b3: Pull complete Digest: sha256:989b936d56b1ace20ddf855a301741e52abca38286382cba7f44443210e96d16 Status: Downloaded newer image for centos:latest

Depending on your Internet speed, the download may take a few seconds or a few minutes. Once the image is downloaded we can list the images with:

docker image ls

The output should look something like the following:

If for some reason you want to delete an image you can do that with the image rm [image_name] subcommand:

docker image rm centos

Docker Containers

An instance of an image is called a container. A container represents a runtime for a single application, process, or service.

It may not be the most appropriate comparison but if you are a programmer you can think of a Docker image as class and Docker container as an instance of a class.

We can start, stop, remove and manage a container with the docker container subcommand.

The following command will start a Docker container based on the CentoOS image. If you don’t have the image locally, it will download it first:

docker container run centos

At first sight, it may seem to you that nothing happened at all. Well, that is not true. The CentOS container stops immediately after booting up because it does not have a long-running process and we didn’t provide any command, so the container booted up, ran an empty command and then exited.

The switch -it allows us to interact with the container via the command line. To start an interactive container type:

docker container run -it centos /bin/bash

As you can see from the output once the container is started the command prompt is changed which means that you’re now working from inside the container:

[root@719ef9304412 /]#

To list running containers: , type:

docker container ls

CONTAINER ID IMAGE COMMAND CREATED STATUS PORTS NAMES 79ab8e16d567 centos "/bin/bash" 22 minutes ago Up 22 minutes ecstatic_ardinghelli

If you don’t have any running containers the output will be empty.

To view both running and stopped containers, pass it the -a switch:

docker container ls -a

To delete one or more containers just copy the container ID (or IDs) from above and paste them after the container rm subcommand:

Life In The Fast Lane

Summary: Life with Fergal Devitt ran at full speed, but he tries to slow it down.

Pairing: Finn Bálor (Fergal Devitt) x Reader

Fergal and I laughed and joked over breakfast. He’d taken me to a fantastic little coffee shop with a funky atmosphere and some great food.

“I love it here”, he said after the waitress took our order.

I glanced around trying to forget my desire to hold his hand. “This reminds me of my coffee shop at home.”

Ferg stopped looking around and looked directly into my eyes. “Tell me about it.” He prodded.

Well, they have great coffee, teas, smoothies and food. They have the absolute best brownies ever.” Ferg lifted his eyebrow when I said that.

“Brownies? T’at doesn’t sound healthy at all.”

I chuckled, “It’s good for the soul.” He rolled his eyes at me. “If we’re going to be together, you’re going to have to understand that sometimes I need chocolate.” I was trying to look determined.

He started laughing, “Ah, ok. Got it.” he giggled.

“I love working from the coffee shop. They’ve got wi-fi, and a lot of us who own our own businesses work from there. It gives us a chance to collaborate with other business people.”

“Sounds pretty awesome.” Ferg smiled. “We’ll have to visit when you go home.” The conversation lulled as we ate, and I used the time to watch him. Those eyes, the veins in his arms, the way the shirt stretched over his chest. This man was beautiful, and he was mine. I couldn’t wrap my head around it. I’d spent years admiring him. Not just his looks (which were stunning), but his heart, his generosity, his kindness. How did I ever deserve this man? I knew. I knew it was a gift from God. One that I wasn’t going to take for granted. I thought back to the times I’d taken for granted with my husband, and I felt a twinge of guilt.

“What’s going on in t'at beautiful head of yours?” He asked.

“There’s just so much changing so fast.” I mused.

“Changin’ for the better?” he prompted. I nodded in agreement. “Yes, better, but just so fast.”

“Luv,” he started “My life runs fast. All da time. Yur gonna have ta get used to it. I’m gonna take t'ings as slow as possible with’ us, but my whole life is fast.” He said gently. “You’ll learn to roll with d'a punches. I’ll help.”

I nodded yes, “I understand.”

Fergal set his empty plate and napkin to the side. “We should start planning for tomorrow. I am headed back to Alabama, to see t'a doc about my shoulder.” He sounded as if he was trying to say it gently. “I’d like ya to come along.” He said. That made me smile. “Really?”

“Yeah!” he laughed. “WWE has a couple of apartments by t'e hospital and physical therapy. Right now, Seth is staying in t'a same apartment as me, so if ya come wit’ me, he’s gonna find out about us.” He peeked at me to gauge my reaction.

“Ok, but I need to see when I’m going to start work.” I said.

“I already cleared it with the McMahons.” He looked sheepishly at me. “We’re supposed to start watchi’ NXT episodes while we’re t'ere.”

Part of me was happy, but part of me was mad. Did he even have a right to adjust my schedule? I realized that he was just trying to make this work. “Ok, but please consult me if you want to change my schedule.” I asked. He nodded in agreement.

“Sorry babe, jus’ wanted to get our life together started.” He paused, “So, what’s on the agenda today?” he asked.

My mind started swimming with everything on my schedule. “First, I need to run my business.” Fergal nodded in agreement. “Then I’m hoping to find a gym to work out in.”

“I can help ya t'ere.” He chimed in. “The performance center has a state o’ t'e art gymn. I’m headed there to work out today too. I’ll get ya in.” Work out in front of Ferg? Not ideal. They say some women look sexy working out. I was NOT one of them, but what choice did I have now?

“Well, the performance center was next on my list. They want me there about 3 pm.”

Ferg’s eyebrows lifted in surprise, “Already? Guess t'ey want to you sign an employment contract before we go to Alabama.”

We decided on a plan of attack. First, get tickets to Alabama. Second work. Third pack. Fourth work out. Fifth, meet with William Regal at the performance center. Yeah, my life was about to get hectic. I looked back at Fergal. He dialed his phone and smiled up at me.

“Katie!” he said on the phone. “Can you get me another ticket to Alabama? Yeah. Name’s Y/N.” He waited while Katie did her magic, “Tonight? Yeah. We can do that.” She’d booked us a red eye flight leaving Orlando at 11 pm. Fast… too fast. But this man is worth it.

We headed back to the condo, and Ferg ran some errands while I worked. After I packed, we went to the PC for a good workout. I caught Ferg watching me a couple of times, but we were each focused on our own workouts for the most part. Rather than head home, I showered at the PC and got dressed for my meeting. Fergal stuck around and introduced me to different talent and staff, some of whom I met at the dinner party” until Paul walked in.

“Ferg” they clasped hands and did a half hug. “Didn’t know you’d be here.”

“Jus’ got a workout in. Figured I’d stick around and introduce Y/N to people.”

“You plan on staying for the meeting?” There was a slight annoyed sound to Paul’s voice.

“Nah man! I’m gonna work with d'a talent until she’s done. Help get dat ring rust off me.” A look of relief passed over Paul’s face. “You get Y/N all to yourself for a while.” he joked. “Jus’ give her back when you’re done.”

William Regal was an imposing man. I didn’t realize he was 6'3” until I was standing in front of him. Regal in front of me, Paul at my side…. I felt…. small in comparison, and it wasn’t just about the height differences. Here were 2 men who helped make WWE what it is. The amount of knowledge and experience these 2 had was astonishing. They were both so calm while the butterflies in my stomach were doing somersaults.

Fake it till you make it. I repeated to myself over and over as we settled down in a conference room.

Regal had been kind, gentle and incredibly polite when we met, but it wasn’t until the 2 huge men sat down that my nerves began to settle.

“I’m really happy to have you here, Y/N” Regal said. “We are getting ready to make some big changes around here, and from what I hear, you’re the right person to help us.” He had heard about me too? Is there anyone in this company that wasn’t talking about my work or my personal life?

The three of us started filling out paperwork. All standard paperwork except for the non-disclosure agreement. I skimmed the document, and was surprised to find that this NDA wasn’t standard. I wasn’t even allowed to tell co-workers about what I was working on.

“Can I ask why?” I looked puzzled.

Regal tapped his finger on the document and said, “sign first, and then we’ll explain.” I looked to Paul who simply nodded yes. Oh hell…. at this point in time I might as well trust them. I signed.

“Great.” Paul looked at Regal, “Any more paperwork?”

“Nope. All done.”

“Ok, here we go. William and I are working on making NXT the third brand. As it is, we are already running it like a third brand, but we’re working on getting a TV deal. If we can make that happen, Vince has agreed to make NXT a full brand.” Paul said. My mind swam with the possibilities.

“Essentially,” William said, “it will split NXT into two. One main brand and one developmental. Like Paul said, we’re already operating that way. Your job is going to be largely based on helping our social media reflect a professional brand like RAW and Smackdown.”

And now I knew why the NDA was so strict.

Paul took a deep breath. “Got it?” I nodded yes. “We know this is going to be different from what you’re doing for your customers, but we didn’t make the decision to hire you lightly. You’re on top of social media trends, and you’ve got a fresh eye. We are going to rely on you to tell us what we need to hear.” William chimed in, “Even if we don’t want to hear it. Can you do that? Can you tell truth to power?”

Truth to power? Yes. Yes. I can do that. “Absolutely.” I nodded.

Paul continued, “Good. There’s going to be times when we as a company are apt to do things the way they’ve always been done. We need YOU to ensure we make changes when and where necessary. Because of that, you will have un-fettered access to William.” I arched a brow, which elicited a chuckle from both men.

“You’re going to be on the road from what I understand.” William asked.

“After a couple of weeks,” Paul chimed in.

“I actually like that,” William continued. “You’re not going to be working around our social media team, so you won’t fall into the trap of doing things the way they’ve always been done. You are going to be a breath of fresh air for the whole department. I CAN’T have your supervisors restricting what I hear from you.” It all made sense, and internally, my mind fought with the whole concept that I was going to be so important. The more they explained it though, the more I understood the reasons for it. NXT was going to be it’s own brand, and Paul wanted to run it HIS way. Ok. I could do that.

The meeting continued for a couple of hours as we discussed what my duties would be, and how I was going to do my job from the road. While in Alabama, I was to research 15 NXT stars’ social media accounts and report my ideas on them to William Regal. I was also to research NXT’s online reputation. I thought to myself that I’d just done the same thing for the whole company preparing for this trip. The only difference was that I was going to be able to go into much more detail.

By the time I left the meeting, a crowd had formed around Fergal. He was helping an athlete learn a new move. I knew this kid was one of the ones I was going to be looking into. I looked through the files that Mr. Regal had given me. Yes…. There was this kid…. Ricochet. He was built, tan and from what I could see, incredibly talented. I found a table to set the files on, and began figuring out who all was gathered around Fergal.

There were 7 of my stars glued to his side; soaking in any information he could teach them. This was a great sign that these wrestlers were dedicated to their job, plus I’d be able to get Fergal’s input on their wrestling and their personalities.

Paul walked through as I was watching the wrestlers with a big smile, “Already started, huh? Or are you just watching Finn?” He teased.

“Can’t I do both?” I joked back. He gently patted me on the shoulder, and off he went.

In particular, this feature is useful when user need to restrict access to sensitive data in chart series for some users of your application. It has introduced a new tag <<removeif [conditional Expression]>> for the purpose. It has introduced new features to add reply to a comment and remove a reply. Two new public methods Comment.AddReply and Comment.RemoveReply are implemented in new version of Aspose.Words for Java to add and remove comment’s reply. As per MS Office limitations Aspose.Words for Java supports only 1 level of replies in the document. It hass also have added public property FootnoteOptions.Columns to set or get the number of columns with which the footnotes area is formatted. The default value is 0. If this property has the value of 0, then footnotes area is formatted with a number of columns based on the number of columns of related page. It has added public properties SignOptions.ProviderId and SignatureLine.ProviderId in this version of Aspose.Words for Java to sign Word document using signature provider identifier. A new feature has been added in this release to get alignment of a Table. Users can get the relative alignment of a Table using new properties when its text wrapping is “Around”. By default, Aspose.Words for Java embeds fonts in HtmlFixed format. It has introduced new property to prevent embedding fonts while saving Document into HTML Fixed Format and use fonts from target machine. “I-” Steve stopped, annoyed that his best friends weren’t paying attention to him. He sighed and immediately picked up the tv remote and clicked th screen off.

“DUDE?!”

“HEY! I was gonna win!”

Steve gave them his famous “disappointed dad” pose with his hands on his hips and a stern face, “I need your help!”

Bucky sighed and set his controller on the coffee table, “Okay. What’s up?”

“So I was on a date with Sharon, right? But as she was talking all I keep thinking about is Y/N and the kiss we shared a few days back.”

Sam looked confused, “Wait. I thought we already established that you have feelings for Y/N. Why are you still with Sharon?”

Steve ran his hand through his hair, “I’m conflicted. I like Sharon, but I have strong feelings for Y/N. I just don’t know what to do. This is a nightmare.”

Sam scoffed, “Oh no. Two gorgeous woman love you. Yes, that’s terrible,” he said sarcastically.

Bucky stood up, “Okay. Here’s what we’re gonna do, we’re gonna type up a list for Sharon and Y/N. Pros and cons..” Bucky went over to the kitchen counter and grabbed his laptop. He opened it and clicked on the word doc. Sam and Steve followed him.

Steve looked at his friends weird, “Can’t we just write it up?”

Sam snickered, “No, grandpa.”

Bucky typed Sharon on one half of the page and Y/N on the other half, “Okay, we’ll do the cons first ‘cause they’re more fun. Y/N first.”

Steve looked down at his feet, “I don’t know...I guess she’s a little spoiled.”

Bucky nodded as he typed it down, “Yeah, she’s always asking for something.”

“Uh huh and I guess she can be a bit...ditzy sometimes. And she cares a lot about how she looks. With Sharon, we have a lot in common since we’re in the same type of work ya know? And Y/N’s just a waitress.”

Bucky typed down every word that Steve said, “Waitress. Got it.”

“Uh huh. Waitresses don’t make a lot,” Sam adds in, “Hey, you wanna play Fortnight after this?” Bucky and Steve take a moment to stare at Sam. Sam just looks at them, “What?”

Bucky shook his head, “Anyway, let’s do Sharon. What’s wrong with her?”

Steve sighed and rubbed his forehead, “She’s not Y/N.”

Sam clapped Steve on the back, “There you go, man. I think you got your answer.”

Steve nodded, “Right. Yeah. Okay. Now I just gotta break up with Sharon. No big thing right?” he headed towards the apartment door and looked back to his best friends one last time. Bucky and Sam gave him a salute and Steve was out the door.

A couple of hours later, Steve entered the apartment once more looking somber. Sam and Bucky paused their game, “So how’d it go?” Sam asked.

Steve shook his head, “It was rough. She cried. I cried. She hit me, threw things at me. I deserved all of it, but it’s for the best right?”

There was a knock on the door and Steve opened it to only reveal it was you. He hadn’t seen you since the night you two kissed, “H-Hi.”

You softly smiled, “Hey.” you noticed he was all dressed to go out, “Going out?” you gestured to his outfit.

Steve looked down and shook his head, “Uh, no. I actually just came back from Sharon’s.”

You slowly nodded, “Oh.”

Bucky rolled his eyes, “He broke up with Sharon!”

You, Steve, and Sam looked at Bucky in surprise. You then looked at Steve with a confused expression, “Really? How come?”

Steve stepped forward and grabbed your hands, “It’s always been you, Y/N.” He then enveloped you in a hug and you hugged him back.

“Oh, Steve!”

“Aaawww!” Bucky and Sam exclaimed in unison as they watched you two with proud smiles.

You giggled and Steve blushed, “So, uh, you wanna go out? Maybe for a walk?”

You nodded, “Yeah, sure. Lemme just grab my coat.”

Steve stopped you, “It’s okay. I’ll get it.” he kissed your cheek and exited the apartment to walk down the hall to yours.

You squealed, “Guys! I can’t believe this!” you ran around the kitchen island with excitement. You then stopped in front of the open laptop that contained an open document. You saw your name and began to read.

“Y/N! Don’t!” Bucky cried out. You immediately picked up the laptop and ran around the apartment as Sam and Bucky chased you. You read through the list and waves of negative feelings encompassed you.

As soon as the guys got a hold of the laptop, Steve walked in. He noticed your sad expression and the guys holding the laptop, “What just happened?”

You walked up to him, your eyes red and watery, “I’m spoiled? Just a waitress?”

Steve’s heart dropped, “Y/N, let me explain.”

You shook your head, “No. I don’t want to hear it. Why don’t you go back to Sharon since she seems perfect for you!” You pushed passed him and rushed through the door.

Steve hurried after you, “Wait! Y/N, please!” your door slammed in his face. Steve rested his forehead on the cool door, “Sweetheart, I..I love you. Please, let’s just talk about this?” he waited for a noise, anything, “Y/N?” he asked, his voice breaking. In less than five minutes, Steve had you and then lost you. Defeated, he trudged back to his apartment and went straight to his room.

It’s been two days since the incident. Steve hasn’t come from his room and you haven’t from yours. Wanda and Nat were livid, especially when they found out the list was Sam and Bucky’s idea.

Steve sat at his desk looking at his phone. He stared at the string of messages he sent you. They were received yet no reply. He then looked at his open laptop. He thought of an idea: if one list ruined everything, then maybe another list can fix it.

He pulled up a blank document and began to type. At the top of the list read, “List of Things I Love About Y/N”.

About half an hour later, he was done. He printed the list and walked out of the room with a look of determination on his face. He knocked on your door, “Y/N?” he knocked several times after with no response back. Steve wasn’t going to give up.

He then made his back to his apartment. He opened his window and climbed the fire escape to your window. Luckily, your apartment was on the same floor and same side as his. As fate would have it, it started to rain. He cursed to himself but it wasn’t going to deter him and his personal mission. He approached your window and saw you curled on your bed. You knocked on the glass causing you to jump. You sat up and frowned.

You walked over to the window, “What the hell are you doing?”

“I wanted to read you your pro list!”

“I’m not interested, Steve.” You closed the curtains, but you could still hear him.

“Fine! I’ll still read them out to you: Number one, I love how you get emotional around cats/dogs. Number two, I love how you bite your lip when you’re nervous or concentrating. Number three, I love how you’re so loyal and devoted to your friends. Number four, how you don’t take anyone’s shit. Number five, how compassionate you are. Number-”

“Hey, Y/N, we-” Nat and Wanda walked in with Sam and bucky behind them.

“-six, the way you get lost in any book or-”

“Steve?” Bucky asked as he walked towards the closed window. He pushed open the curtains to reveal his best friend sitting on the fire escape drenched in water. He slid the window up and and helped Steve inside. Nat ran to get him a towel.

Bucky, Sam, and Wanda suddenly felt like they were intruding, “Uuuuhhh, we’ll go now.”

You shook your head, “You don’t have to. We’re done here.”

Steve’s shoulder sagged, Y/N, please. I know how you must feel-”

You scoffed and looked up at Steve, “No, you don’t. Imagine the things you hate most about yourself. Now imagine the one person you care so deeply for thinking them too and using them as reasons not to be with you.”

“But I love you despite all of that!”

“If this was the other way around, there would be nothing on that list that would ever make me not want to be with you.”

You stood up to Steve, your chest against his, “Well that the difference between us. I would never make a list.” You turned on your heel and stormed out of your bedroom. Seconds later, the front door slammed shut.

Steve collapsed onto your bed, “It looks like there was no saving what could have been hi relationship with you.

Sonic Frontiers - Impressions

I follow a certain someone on here who's known in the Sonic fandom for being, well, rather passionate about Doctor Eggman. Watching their reaction, their bigger takeaway seemed to amount to not caring about the environment, the core gameplay loop or the base concept of Frontiers, so long as Mike Pollock gets to land Big Evil Laughs and so long as Sonic Team adds the right amount of belly-jiggle physics to the big lug. I don't really believe there is such a thing as a wrong interpretation of a given product, but, well - I'm fucking biased. One of my friends since my teens has worked for EA and Ubisoft as a Lead Animator, and I've been lucky enough to get a fairly good look into what turns a basic, bare-bones dev document into a working and suitably-polished experience you'd consider market-ready.

Non-gamers tend to consider that designing a game somehow has to be easy; that all you need is a goal, a direction, a prompt that says Tilt Stick to Move and you're basically good to go. If you're familiar with the work of insider journalists like Tom Bissell or kept up with Danny O'Dwyer's Noclip Studios, then you know that even in their garage-band years, most studios can slave away at a core design doc for months before so much as rendering anything. Concepts are tested, working components are crudely assembled to see if you really can "find the fun" in there, and you slowly watch as a coherent project emerges. I'm reminded of Myst, for instance, and its dozens of abortive extrusion tests and early rendering passes designed just so the Millers would have the vaguest idea of their landmass' ideal topography.

Sonic Frontiers, in comparison, feels like Sonic Team once again missed the hoop, but had the balls to turn to the camera mid-swing, to lob a fairly cringeworthy "swoosh!" joke in front of an audience of millions. Their designers rightfully identified one of Sonic's primary design pillars - going fast - figured out what would best accomodate said need for speed - open spaces - and then shat the bed in trying to discern just what, exactly, these open spaces could be filled with.

Let's just set a primary point, first: not every game needs to have diegetic elements. I know that, you know that, every gamer knows that. Eggman's pie-in-the-sky tech just works, like a Bethesda Softworks engine, and you're not expected or even asked to figure out what it is that Eggman gets out of isolating Sonic, when he's tried for a similar tactic several times before. Still, despite all this, Frontiers is the exact sort of game where everything you do would make so much more sense if things were properly anchored in the narrative - starting with the main levels' ridiculous size and depth.

There is obviously some sort of plot - Eggers trapping Sonic's buds in Cyberspace (don't ask) and the Blue Blur needing McGuffins to free them; but the exposition tends to come at the worst of times, as has always been the problem with 3D Sonic games. Sound mixing has improved since the days of Sonic Boom, but there's still a few cutscenes where subtitles are an absolute necessity. It doesn't really help to establish the mostly sparse plot, and really doesn't flatter the core design.

So what is said design, exactly? Imagine a cross between The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, but lacking in both games' unique points of articulation. BOTW had several "stroke of genius" moments where you're effectively left to reconsider your tools and the level design that surrounds you, and to organically come up with the solution to an overarching problem. Odyssey starts out extremely hand-holdy and then gradually eases off on the brakes, designed as it is in order to underline the fact that almost every single Mario game could very well be someone's first Mario game. Before catering to the hardcore, Mario caters to the kindergarteners, and arms them with the tools needed to eventually take off their own training wheels.

Sonic looks at this and plops standard linear platforming rails in the 3D space, in the exact same shape and form you might've seen since at least Sonic Generations. You're not really left to piece things or treated to any sort of tuned escalation - things are instead extremely consistent - and you're left with doing more and more of them. You'll run in hamster wheels, kick and punch obstacles to reach point totals, grind on rails, jump between said rails, and collect a shit-ton of Rings while you're at it. The backdrops look nice, but the platforming elements pop in without much fanfare and only haphazardly fill in an empty space that's probably more worthy of a Gilson B. Pontes game.

Who's this guy, you might ask? You need only ask James Stephanie Sterling.

To wit, Sonic Frontiers is to the platforming genre what the FarCry series has become to shooters: it's very, very shiny, quite obviously polished to a mirror-sheen, and has the depth of your average unattended kiddie pool in the middle of a heat wave. It's bland, uninspired, and showcases just how, after all these years, it might be time to either retire Sega's halcyon-days mascot, or to simply grandfather him to a team that actually has their finger on the needs of a specifically Sonic-oriented design doc.

Like, um, I don't know - Christian Whitehead and Headcannon, the pairing responsible for 2017's wildly popular retread of well-honed design principles, in the form of Sonic Mania...
