Ruler of the 6th through the houses
This is where we get into daily life, service, work, wellness, and routine. Think of it as your “how I get sh*t done” energy — the ruler of your 6th house shows what area of life demands the most effort, structure, or healing🖤.
6th House Ruler in the 1st House
You are your own project.
Your identity is wrapped in your work ethic and wellness. People see you as productive, reliable, and self-improving. You’re the type to biohack, optimize, or self-discipline like a boss. You serve: Yourself, your goals, your growth. Wellness style: Actively engaged with body + health. “My body is my schedule — and my brand.”
6th House Ruler in the 2nd House
You work for stability + values.
You’re motivated by security, comfort, and building something solid. You probably have a slow-and-steady daily rhythm and need to feel grounded in your routine. You serve: Through practical help + financial support. Wellness style: Nourishment, somatic care, massage. “My routine = my resource.”
6th House Ruler in the 3rd House
Your mind is always working.
You thrive on movement, communication, and mental stimulation. You may multitask like a machine and keep a busy schedule. Writing, teaching, or running errands = daily bread. You serve: Through ideas, words, and helpful info. Wellness style: Breathwork, nervous system care, mobility. “My calendar is color-coded chaos — and I love it.”
6th House Ruler in the 4th House
Your home is your office or temple.
You crave comfort and emotional security in your daily rhythm. You may work from home or be drawn to caretaking professions. Wellness comes from emotional safety. You serve: Family, home, emotional healing. Wellness style: Nourishing food, rest, inner child care. “My peace starts at home.”
6th House Ruler in the 5th House
You work with passion or not at all.
You thrive when your work lights you up. You bring creativity to your job, and you may serve others through play, art, children, or entertainment. You’re here to infuse joy into the mundane. You serve: Through performance, love, creativity. Wellness style: Movement, pleasure, artistic release. “If it’s not fun, it’s not sustainable.”
6th House Ruler in the 6th House
You were born for systems, routines + service.
You’re naturally drawn to work, health, and structure. You may have a career in healthcare, healing, or support roles. Routines come naturally — but beware of overworking. You serve: Through consistency, integrity, mastery. Wellness style: Functional, optimized, routine-based. “Structure sets me free.”
6th House Ruler in the 7th House
You show up for others.
You serve through partnerships — whether romantic, business, or client-based. Your work may involve 1:1 relationships, and wellness improves when your relationships are in harmony. You serve: Lovers, clients, collaborators. Wellness style: Balance, connection, mirrored growth. “Your peace = my peace.”
6th House Ruler in the 8th House
You work in the shadows.
You may serve through healing, therapy, finances, or emotional transformation. You’re private about your daily habits and need depth + purpose in your work to avoid burnout. You serve: Through psychological or energetic work. Wellness style: Detox, shadow work, deep rest. “My work transforms me — and others.”
6th House Ruler in the 9th House
You work from the mind and the spirit.
You may serve through teaching, spirituality, law, or travel. Daily life needs meaning. You might crave movement or a higher mission behind the grind. You serve: Through wisdom, beliefs, or worldly perspective. Wellness style: Walking meditations, breathwork, education. “My routine is my ritual.”
6th House Ruler in the 10th House
You turn routines into legacy.
Work is your identity. You’re ambitious, career-oriented, and likely to rise in your field due to your consistency. You might manage others or become known for your service. You serve: Through leadership, professionalism, influence. Wellness style: Structured, goal-driven, visible. “Work hard, shine harder.”
6th House Ruler in the 11th House
You serve the collective.
You may work within communities, collectives, or online spaces. You need freedom and innovation in your day-to-day — and you’re likely to rebel against rigid schedules. You serve: Friends, networks, causes. Wellness style: Group classes, tech tools, unconventional methods. “My work serves the future.”
6th House Ruler in the 12th House
Invisible service, sacred structure.
You work best in solitude, or in healing/behind-the-scenes roles. Your routines may be intuitive or chaotic, and wellness is deeply tied to your emotional + spiritual state. You serve: Spirit, the unseen, vulnerable populations. Wellness style: Sleep, silence, dreams, energetic healing “Sacred rest is my medicine.”

Return to office and dying on the job
Tumblr media
Denise Prudhomme's bosses at Wells Fargo insisted that the in-person camaraderie of their offices warranted a mandatory return-to-office policy, but when she died at her desk in her Tempe, AZ office, no one noticed for four days.
That was in August. Now, Wells Fargo United has published a statement on her death, one that vibrates with anger at the callously selective surveillance that Wells Fargo inflicts on its workforce:
https://www.reddit.com/r/WellsFargoUnited/comments/1fnp9fa/please_print_and_take_to_your_managersite_leader/
The union points out that Wells Fargo workers are subjected to continuous, fine-grained on-the-job surveillance from a variety of bossware tools that count their keystrokes and create tables of the distancess their mice cross each day:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/02/24/gwb-rumsfeld-monsters/#bossware
Wells Fargo's message to its workforce is, "You can't be trusted," a policy that Wells Fargo doubled down on with its Return to Office mandate. Return to Office is often pitched as a chance to improve teamwork, communication, and human connection with your co-workers, and there's no arguing with the idea that spending some time in person with people can help improve working relationships (I attended a week-long, all-hands, staff retreat for EFF earlier this month and it was fantastic, primarily due to its in-person nature).
But our bosses don't want us back in the office because they enjoy our company, nor because they're so excited about having hired such a swell bunch of folks and can't wait to see how we all get along together. As John Quiggin writes, the biggest reason to force us back to the office is to get a bunch of us to quit:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/sep/26/in-their-plaintive-call-for-a-return-to-the-office-ceos-reveal-how-little-they-are-needed
As one of Musk's toadies put it in a private message before the Twitter takeover, "Sharpen your blades boys. 2 day a week Office requirement = 20% voluntary departures":
https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/29/elon-musk-texts-discovery-twitter/
The other reason to spy on us is because they don't trust us. Remember all the panic about "quiet quitting" and "no one wants to work"? Bosses' hypothesis was that eking out a bare minimum living on from a couple of small-dollar covid stimulus checks was preferable to working for them for a full paycheck.
Every accusation is a a confession. When your boss tells you that he thinks that you can't be trusted to do a good job without total, constant surveillance, he's really saying, "I only bother to do my CEO job when I'm afraid of getting fired':
https://pluralistic.net/2024/04/19/make-them-afraid/#fear-is-their-mind-killer
As Wells Fargo United notes, Wells Fargo employees like Denise Prudhomme are spied on from the moment they set foot in the building until the moment they clock out (and sometimes the spying continues when you're off the clock):
Wells Fargo monitors our every move and keystroke using remote, electronic technologies—purportedly to evaluate our productivity—and will fire us if we are caught not making enough keystrokes on our computers.
The Arizona Republic coverage notes further that Prudhomme had to log her comings and goings from the Wells Fargo offices with a badge, so Wells Fargo could see that Prudhomme had entered the premises four days before, but hadn't left:
https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/tempe-breaking/2024/09/23/wells-fargo-employees-union-responds-death-tempe-woman/75352015007/
Wells Fargo has mandated in-person working, even when that means crossing a state line to be closer to the office. They've created "hub cities" where workers are supposed to turn up. This may sound convivial, but Prudhomme was the only member of her team working out of the Tempe hub, so she was being asked to leave her home, travel long distances, and spend her days in a distant corner of the building where no one ventured for periods of (at least) four days at a time.
Bosses are so convinced that they themselves would goof off if they could that they fixate on forcing employees to spend their days in the office, no matter what the cost. Back in March 2020, Charter CEO Tom Rutledge – then the highest-paid CEO in America – instituted a policy that every back office staffer had to work in person at his call centers. This was the most deadly phase of the pandemic, there was no PPE to speak of, we didn't understand transmission very well, and vaccines didn't exist yet. Charter is a telecommunications company and it was booming as workers across America upgraded their broadband so they could work from home, and the CEO's response was to ban remote work. His customer service centers were superspreading charnel houses:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/03/18/diy-tp/#sociopathy
That Wells Fargo would leave a dead employee at her desk for four days is par for the course for the third-largest commercial bank in America. This is Wells Fargo, remember, the company that forced its low-level bank staff to open two million fake accounts in order to steal from their customers and defraud their shareholders, then fired and blackballed staff who complained:
https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/09/26/495454165/ex-wells-fargo-employees-sue-allege-they-were-punished-for-not-breaking-law
The executive who ran that swindle got a $125 million bonus:
https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2016/09/wells-fargo-ceos-teflon-don-act-backfires-at-senate-hearing-i-take-full-responsibility-means-anything-but.html
And the CEO got $200 million:
https://money.cnn.com/2016/09/21/investing/wells-fargo-fired-workers-retaliation-fake-accounts/index.html
It's not like Wells Fargo treats its workers badly but does well by everyone else. Remember, those fake accounts existed as part of a fraud on the company's investors. The company went on to steal $76m from its customers on currency conversions. They also foreclosed on customers who were up to date on their mortgages, seizing and selling off all their possessions. They argued that when bosses pressured tellers into forging customers on fraudulent account-opening paperwork, that those customers had lost their right to sue, since the fraudulent paperwork had a binding arbitration clause. When they finally agreed to pay restitution to their victims, they made the payments opt-in, ensuring that most of the millions of people they stole from would never get their money back.
They stole millions with fraudulent "home warranties." They stole millions from small businesses with fake credit-card fees. They defrauded 800,000 customers through an insurance scam, and stole 25,000 customers' cars with illegal repos. They led the pre-2008 pack on mis-selling deceptive mortgages that blew up and triggered the foreclosure epidemic. They loaned vast sums to Trump, who slashed their taxes, and then they fired 26.000 workers and did a $40.6B stock buyback. They stole 525 homes from mortgage borrowers and blamed it on a "computer glitch":
https://pluralistic.net/2021/09/29/jubilance/#too-big-to-jail
Given all this, two things are obvious: first, if anyone is going to be monitored for crimes, fraud and scams, it should be Wells Fargo, not its workers. Second, Wells Fargo's surveillance system exists solely to terrorize workers, not to help them. As Wells Fargo United writes:
We demand improved safety precautions that are not punitive or cause further stress for employees. The solution is not more monitoring, but ensuring that we are all connected to a supportive work environment instead of warehoused away in a back office.
Tumblr media
Tor Books as just published two new, free LITTLE BROTHER stories: VIGILANT, about creepy surveillance in distance education; and SPILL, about oil pipelines and indigenous landback.

Writing Notes: Dramaturgy
Tumblr media
Dramaturgy - the study and practice of using dramatic composition to represent a scene on stage in performances, world-building, and historical contexts.
Dramaturgs have an interdisciplinary job in which they help open up and clarify the world of a production from different perspectives:
Study dramatic productions: Production dramaturgs study dramatic productions such as musicals, operas, and plays to represent and contextualize the given story in a way that makes historical and dramatic sense. A dramaturg has extensive theater history knowledge and experience building narrative structures and analyzing dramatic literature.
Perform script analysis: Dramaturgs can provide key script analysis for playwrights, musical theater writers, producers, and directors to help identify the most (and least) exciting parts of the narrative. They also suggest ways to improve the structure, clarify the timeline or setting of a piece, and help logically develop the story.
Conduct research: An expert’s dramaturgical analysis may also include research for directors, production teams, or costume designers for historical accuracy, making sure that details such as language, clothing, or behavior accurately match the specific period.
Theory of Dramaturgy
Sociologist Erving Goffman developed a sociological theory applying dramaturgy as a theatrical metaphor for human beings in the world.
Human behavior: Goffman’s sociological, dramaturgical approach likens human behavior in real life to a continuous play, and every person is an actor. Goffman first introduced his dramaturgical theory in his 1959 text The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life.
Symbolic interactionism: Goffman posits that you are set on a stage from the day you are born and that your symbolic interactions with other people (and vice versa) determine your roles—who you are and how you behave. Humans use impression management to attempt to control how they are seen and regarded through appearances, manners of interacting, and behavior.
Front stage vs. backstage: Goffman’s theory of dramaturgy divides human life into front stage and backstage activity. The front stage is where you live out your normal, public life—working at your job, going to dinner, and aspects of social life. The backstage, or off stage, is the private area where you can be your true self without managing others’ impressions or expectations. The backstage is where you practice your future performances on the front stage for all to see and work to refine others’ perceptions of you.
Examples of Dramaturgy
Dramaturgic interactions unfold both in the entertainment world and in everyday life. Here are some examples of dramaturgy that you might see in the real world, in which the same people inhabit different roles or behaviors in related situations.
In the classroom: A professor giving a lecture to dozens of students is giving a front-stage dramaturgical performance. They will likely present themselves in professional attire to give the appearance of a qualified, trustworthy individual. The professor creates their lesson plan and prepares their lecture when they are backstage, in the privacy of their own office, or wearing pajamas at home.
During an interview: A person interviewing for a job will use the backstage to prepare for their interaction with the hiring manager. They may rehearse practice answers, what not to say, or work on their anxious behaviors to influence a desired impression. Their front-stage behavior will be markedly different from their rehearsed backstage practice to inform how the hiring manager perceives them, which may leave a better impression.
While babysitting: A babysitter may dress casually and behave more childishly to make the child they are supervising feel more comfortable. The adults who babysit children may not play with toy trains or dolls in their private life, but they will pretend like they do to control the child’s impression of them and create a pleasant social interaction.
During athletic competitions: Athletes may have a perfectly confident front-stage persona, making the audience feel like they are effortlessly defying gravity. However, they may be anxious backstage, repeatedly going over their moves and mantras to put on the best performance.
The etymology of “dramaturgy” comes from the Greek word “dramatourgía,” meaning “action of a play.”
Theater historians believe that the philosopher and scholar Gotthold Ephraim Lessing was the first dramaturg: The Enlightenment-era writer first used the term in the Hamburgische Dramaturgie (“The Hamburg Dramaturgy”), a series of essays he wrote on dramatic theory in the 1760s.
In a work of drama, film, and storytelling, dramaturgs research the given period of a story, who its players would have been, and the social climate of the time. This historical context strengthens a play’s development, the actor’s relationship with the text, and its relationship with the audience.
Dramaturgy is an in-depth study of the work that playwrights, screenwriters, and directors create. Writers and directors may take on the role of the dramaturg themselves if they possess enough know-how and experience. The social sciences also apply a sociological perspective to dramaturgy, likening human interaction in everyday life to theatrical performance.

hearing you call live-action sonic surprisingly conservative in your post about media moving forward felt like being shot in the heart
i mean, sonic as a character is pretty leftist. his whole deal is being free and setting people free,
beating up enemies in the game is literally breaking the shell that the animals are stuck in
Eggman was an analogy for pollution, with him destroying the environment for personal gain, and later being more of a fascist dictator
and his thing is always turning people into products, into literal machines he can control to do his labor and fight his wars, which would be every capitalist’s dream.
and so i never put the pieces together when it comes to the movie being conservative.
damn.
ouch.
could you elaborate more on it? idk, the conversation hurts but i’d like to know what your thoughts are on live-action sonic specifically
Oh, sure. We can talk about the surprisingly conservative themes and ideas of the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog films. With the caveat that this is old-school traditional conservatism, not modern nakedly fascistic conservatism. The Sonic movies are conservative in a Home Improvement sort of way, not a Lady Ballers sort of way.
What it amounts to is that Paramount approached the films not with intent to make a Sonic the Hedgehog movie but with intent to make a "relatable" story for an audience that also has Sonic the Hedgehog in it.
Have you ever seen 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters? A film which centers a broken family trying to connect with each other, while also there's a disaster movie happening around them? Like. Godzilla and Mothra and Ghidorah is all stuff that's happening, but what really matters here is whether this daughter can forgive her mother.
It's the of writing a low-stakes personal drama and then stapling the film premise to it. The kind of move that makes sense with something like The Day After Tomorrow where the premise is just "It got fucking cold" so the movie kinda needs something with some actual characters that it can be about.
But when it's an adaptation, it shows low confidence in the IP itself to carry a film. It says, "I don't think a Sonic movie would work, so instead I'm going to just make a movie and have Sonic in it."
And the a movie that they made centers some conservative values. But, like, old-school conservative values, not the hyper-fascistic transphobia and white supremacy and stuff you see around today. Things that were considered commonly recognized conservative values in the 80's and 90's, when white people were still supposed to believe that racism was over and all that jazz.
For one, Tom is a cop. Which is a wild choice for a film coming out at the height of BLM and ACAB. The film, as well as its subsequent sequels and spinoffs, play Tom's policing very sympathetically. A major theme of the first film is that Officer Wachowski is a vital and valuable part of his community.
There is no ambiguity; The cops are the good guys here. They're kind of wacky but we're meant to love both of them, Tom and Wade. They are, however, contrasted by the wickedness of the Feds.
Eggman, in the film, is reimagined from an industrialist to a federal agent. He represents the long arm of Big Government overreach coming for the sleepy town of Green Hill. Which is then further represented by G.U.N., who oppose Eggman once he goes rogue but are still the enemy nonetheless.
Even the Knux series still manages to be about fighting the Feds. The federal government has been the antagonist for 3 out of 3 entries thus far, when Eggman himself has only been the antagonist for 2.
The films leave the environmentalism of the original behind, instead centering family values. Rather than setting out to rescue woodland creatures from industry, Sonic has heart-to-heart chats with Tom about growing up and finding his calling. Knux isn't the guardian of Angel Island, but Sonic's adopted brother. Maddie can ground him for inappropriate behavior.
The first film also features the popular old-school conservative theme of Rural America vs. Urban America. Tom is a small-town cop who yearns for the glamour of the big city. He thinks his calling is there. But, over the course of the film, he learns to appreciate the value of small-town living and his importance to his community, and sets aside his foolish dreams of urbanity.
"I wanted to run away to the city but then learned that my Real 'Murica small hometown is where I truly belong" is probably the single most popular conservative story in decades of film and television.
It's worth noting that the film does feature an interracial marriage, which is something I hear brought up a lot as a way of saying "Actually it's not conservative because...."
But for as much credit as Maddie might warrant... There is the issue of Rachel. A character who exists primarily in the film to be a Sassy Black Woman who reacts with furious histrionics towards Tom for no apparent reason. She just. Hates him. From the bottom of her soul, despises "Relatable Cop Boy".
Like. So far as the film's concerned, it needs no explanation. Her relationship with Tom is just an eyeroll, sly glance at the camera, and "In-laws, amirite?" The second film at least gives her more to do, but the first concludes her subplot by having them tie her up and steal her car.
Like. That's it. That is what she amounts to. Maddie's sister yells sassily until she passes out and then the payoff is that they steal her car and leave her tied to a chair as... I guess her karmic retribution for being so sassy and mean to Tom? It's hard to really say whether this is mean-spirited because we do not know what her beef is. The film doesn't think we need to know. "In-laws are crazy, amirite!?"
When you set aside the cool action scenes of Sonic punching robots and look at what the films center as their emotional heart? You get a story about a small-town cop learning to appreciate his rural roots and build a family with his wife despite her unreasonably psychotic relatives, while the wicked federal government attempts to destroy their home, town, family, and way of life.

10 Tips for Developing a Daily Writing Practice
Tumblr media
Every year, we’re lucky to have great sponsors for our nonprofit events. Scrivener, a 2023 Camp NaNoWriMo sponsor, is an award-winning writing app designed to help you get writing and keep writing. Here, Scrivener user and first time Camper, Bookstagrammer, aspiring author, and visual storyteller Yeldah Yousfi shares her tips on how to write consistently:
Writing consistently is one of the most important habits to cultivate if you want to become a better writer and reach your Camp NaNoWriMo target. However, while developing a habit of daily writing practice is useful for exercising your writing skills, it can be difficult to maintain.
Here are ten tips that I personally use for developing a habit of writing consistently every day:
1. Set a schedule.
One of the most important steps to developing a consistent writing habit is to set a schedule. Set aside a specific time every day that you can dedicate to writing—even if you just try this during Camp. This will help you to make writing a routine part of your day, and it will also make it easier to stay motivated and avoid procrastination.
2. Create a writing space.
It’s important to have a designated space that is comfortable and conducive to writing. This could be a home office, a library, or even a cafe. Whatever you choose, make sure it is comfortable and free of distractions so that you can focus on your writing.
3. Track your progress.
Keeping track of your writing progress can help keep you motivated and on track. This could be as simple as making a checklist of goals for each day or tracking your word count so you can see how much you’ve written each day.
4. Set achievable goals.
Having realistic goals is essential for staying motivated. It’s best to set smaller goals that are achievable in the short-term, such as writing 500 words a day, rather than trying to tackle a huge project all at once.
5. Take breaks.
Taking breaks (no matter how short) can help you stay focused, energized, and allows for the mind to rest and to process the material that was just written. Taking a short break every two hours or so will help you to stay productive and prevent burnout. Walking outside always makes me feel better, and I find it helps generate more ideas.
6. Read, read, read.
One of the best ways to become a better writer is to read, especially reading books in the genre you are writing in. Reading helps to open the mind to new ideas, concepts, and possibilities. You can also use the work of other authors to learn more about the craft of writing and to help you come up with ideas for your own work.
7. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
Making mistakes is a part of the writing process. When you start writing, keep writing, even if it’s only for ten minutes. It probably won’t be perfect (or even good if it’s your first-time writing), but that’s okay—the more you write, the better you will become. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them as you go.
8. Have a support system and a writing partner.
Having a support system that you can reply on can be a great help in staying motivated and on track with your daily writing goals. This could be a friend or family member, or pick a Camp Counselor or writing group from the Camp forums. They can provide encouragement and help to keep you accountable. Additionally, having someone who is willing to read and give feedback on pieces of writing can be invaluable.
9. Reward yourself.
Celebrate your successes and reward yourself for your progress. Whether it’s a special treat or just a pat on the back, make sure to recognize your achievements and reward yourself for reaching your goals.
10. Take it one step at a time.
Writing is a process, and it takes time to develop a consistent writing habit. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t make progress right away. Just keep going and take it one step at a time.
Developing a consistent writing habit is essential for improving your writing skills and becoming a better writer. By following these ten tips, you can develop a habit of writing every day and make it a routine part of your life. Try it through July and see!

little poster for a minicomic im working on thats half au / half backstory for virgil and the tsp gang in my universe called "la vie en jaune" (or life in yellow in french) (i think) (idk i live in canada)
for a full infodump on this au ill put it under the cut bc this au is an amalgamation of portal 2 (which takes from cave johnson, caroline, aperture, while also taking from a chelley fic i read) , simon from adventure time, kingsman, and floating megane's ted nivison comics on insta.
the plot:
Virgil works at a company called Ouroboros Technologies, whos goal is to make gadgets that automate the process of buisnesses (though they never go beyond that explanation, it pays hella money so ppl dont question it).
Anyways, Virgil's job is to hire and manage the new employees in his division. And at his 427th employee he hires Stanley Rider (also rider is stanleys canonical last name apparently so might as well use that instead of parable). A 26 year old whos fresh out of university n is working as an intern. Getting coffee, flowers for the office, making sure everyone has enough whiteboard markers since ppl use that up like crazy, etc
The two get close to the point that Stanley becomes Virgil's assistant. Which helps a bit since both Stanley and Virgil are struggling to keep up with their (seperate n now combined) workload.
The company makes a prototype product which is a set of yellow glasses, which gives the user access to the whole company's building, files, and technology in an AR form that they can access at the blink of an eye. The Prototype AR Accessible Biotech Launcher Enviroment (or pARable for short) They give it to Virgil to test, and research finds that it improves productivity 110%. However, the tech begins to backfire as it slowly begins to change Virgil's attitude and body. His mind starts to forget the people and names around him, he starts becoming increasingly more anxious and self conscious of his work when in the presence of an audience, his body begins to rapidly age and drain his life from him, and he begins to crave the control that he is given with these glasses.
Stanley notices this, and pleads with Virgil to stop, which he does. However, it causes them to fall behind on their workload, and the higherups dont like it.
Eventually, as the company threatens to dock their pay, Virgil is forced to use the glasses again in order to keep up with the workload and feed both him and Stanley. At which, Virgil begins to lose himself more and more. Forgetting his name and instead calling himself the Narrator.
The only person that he remembers is Stanley.
One night, Virgil doesn't come home, and after filing a missing persons case, Stanley doesn't find him. (Although the usual silence from Ouroboros seems more ominous than usual)
The company begins to export and send pARables en masse to all its employees, and the company reaches a terrifying peak in efficiency. And Stanley follows. Yet the only difference is that his pARable is different than his coworkers. Where everyone else starts off at a narration explaining the device followed by a room that is designed to look exactly like the user's own bedroom. Stanley's starts off with a story, in an office that looks suspiciously like his.
And concerningly, he can only vaguely remember of his life before the pARable.
And so the game plays out like normal, except both Stanley and The Narrator cant help but shake the fact that the other feels so familiar somehow.
---
ive got one page already done so i might do some more doodles with the designs i have for these two later, but im just glad i got to put this down since this is how i saw virgils origins to be subconsciously
which reminds me i need to share what ive got written for my tsp portal au f U C K

Not So Berry (Straud Descendants) Gen 9
Today's (9/26/2024) Episode: Rep Redemption
Luigi’s sudden illness delayed his plans to redeem his reputation after his embarrassing fight with the paparazzi at the Flea Market.
He wasn’t sure if it was just age, bad luck, or his multiple comorbidities ganging up on him, but his Bloaty Head symptoms lingered longer than they ever had before. Even with the support of his better half, he struggled to concentrate on anything productive for days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The couples staggered work schedules had always left Luigi in charge of Skye while Noemi was at the office, but with his head feeling “like an overinflated balloon” he clearly wasn’t capable of providing a safe level of supervision for their boy.
Work on Project Daisy stalled as Noemi called off as well, making sure Skye “let daddy rest” while enjoying some playtime with their friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Noemi was whisking Skye away Luigi’s older family members were coming over to keep him company.
Whether he was relaxing on the couch watching a movie with Grandpa Candor or playing a simple game of “Don’t Wake The Llama” with his Step-Mom, Luigi was glad to have the support of his loved ones to help him feel less alone.

When Luigi’s head finally started to clear he began his campaign to show SimNation he was sorry for his recent actions and intent on changing.
First up on the agenda was setting up time with a therapist and recording the dreaded apology video. True to her word Dr. Valasquez happily agreed to take Luigi back on as a patient, and their prior working relationship helped kick start the beginning of his emotional readjustment.
As for the apology video… it went about as well as he’d expected. His sincerity was hotly debated by some, while many others argued that his entry into anger management therapy showed that he was serious about doing better in the future. Either way, he was glad to be making the effort.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the advice of his therapist Luigi started making some changes in his lifestyle that he hoped would improve his overall emotional state and leave him with the “spoons” to deal with those times when he was placed in stressful situations that caused his temper to flare.
He started by breaking the habit he’d gotten into of working straight through lunch at the office, taking a little time to work out his stress and get those good endorphins flowing with a quick workout in the facility's small on-site gym.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He continued his “de-stressing campaign” at home, calling up Maids United and arranging for their daily cleaning services package.
For a long time, he’d found many household tasks to be uncomfortable and nausea inducing, and now he and Noemi would be freed of those chores.
His wife, who had herself realized recently that she really preferred when things were kept nice and tidy, was equally excited at the prospect of having someone come in to help keep their home in tip top shape.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, Luigi continued his long-standing practice of giving back to his community, which gave him both a reputation and emotional boost!
He knew his papa would be proud of him for his generous donation of simoleons to the local animal shelter, and it felt good to know that he was helping support animals who were waiting for their “forever home”.
When he maxed his cooking skill making treats for Rainy Day’s career day booth at the high school, the thought of the happy kids warmed his heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end Luigi felt that all his efforts had been worthwhile.
His anger management therapy was helping him make some positive life changes, and his good works made him feel good while helping others less fortunate.
When public opinion clearly began to turn in his favor once again, he was left with no doubt that he’d made the right decision.

Can Skylights Help with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)?
If you've ever felt sluggish and unmotivated during the colder months, you're not alone. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) affects millions of people, making winter feel less like a festive wonderland and more like an energy-draining marathon. The culprit? A lack of sunlight. But here’s an interesting question—can skylights help?
The short answer? Yes, they can. But let’s talk about why.
Why Does Seasonal Affective Disorder Happen?
SAD isn't just a case of the "winter blues." It’s a legitimate mood disorder linked to changes in sunlight exposure. When the days get shorter and darker, your body produces more melatonin (which makes you sleepy) and less serotonin (which boosts mood). The result? You feel sluggish, moody, and maybe even a little down for no clear reason.
Traditional treatments include light therapy, vitamin D supplements, and—if necessary—medication. But there’s another way to combat the problem: maximizing natural light exposure in your home or workplace. And that’s where skylights come in.
Skylights: Your Secret Weapon Against SAD
More Natural Light, Less Artificial Dependency
Most homes and offices rely on artificial lighting, but let’s be honest—overhead lights don’t quite replicate the sun. Skylights flood spaces with natural daylight, keeping your body in sync with a healthier circadian rhythm.
A Mood-Boosting Game Changer
Exposure to sunlight triggers serotonin production, which can help improve focus and energy levels. Ever notice how you feel more awake on a bright, sunny day compared to a gloomy one? Skylights bring that energy indoors, giving you a natural pick-me-up throughout the day.
Better Sleep (And Who Doesn’t Want That?)
Since skylights increase daytime exposure to natural light, they can help regulate your sleep cycle. Your body gets the signal: "Okay, it’s daytime—stay alert." Then, as the sun sets, your melatonin production kicks in naturally, making it easier to fall asleep at night.
Energy Savings with a Side of Wellness
Sunlight isn’t just good for your health—it’s great for your electricity bill. More daylight means less reliance on artificial lighting, which can lower energy costs. So, while you’re brightening your space and boosting your mood, you’re also cutting down on utility expenses. Win-win.
Skylights vs. Traditional Windows: Is There a Difference?
You might be thinking, “I already have windows—why do I need skylights?” Good question.
While regular windows do provide sunlight, they don’t always maximize it. The position of skylights on the roof allows sunlight to enter from above, eliminating shadows and providing a more even distribution of light. Plus, for homes or offices where windows are limited (like interior rooms or basements), skylights offer a direct path to the sky.
Another factor? Privacy. If you want more natural light in a bathroom or bedroom but don’t want to compromise on privacy, skylights are the perfect solution. You get all the benefits of sunlight without worrying about neighbors peeking in.
What Kind of Skylight Works Best?
Not all skylights are created equal. If you're considering installing one to help with SAD, here’s what to look for:
Fixed Skylights – These are stationary and ideal for maximizing sunlight in rooms where ventilation isn’t needed.
Ventilated Skylights – Great for areas like kitchens and bathrooms where airflow is important.
Tubular Skylights – A compact option that channels sunlight through a reflective tube—perfect for smaller spaces or hallways.
Smart Skylights – Some models come with built-in sensors that adjust to light levels or open for ventilation automatically. Fancy, but effective.
Placement Matters: Where Should You Install a Skylight?
If your goal is to fight off SAD, the placement of your skylight is just as important as the type you choose.
Living Rooms & Common Areas – These are high-traffic spaces where natural light can boost energy and mood throughout the day.
Home Offices – If you work from home, a skylight can reduce eye strain, improve focus, and help combat that mid-afternoon slump.
Bedrooms – Regulating your sleep-wake cycle is easier when your body gets natural daylight exposure in the morning.
Bathrooms – Sunlight and privacy? Yes, please. A skylight can brighten up the space without the need for extra lighting.
Can Skylights Really Make a Difference?
Absolutely. Studies have shown that increased exposure to natural light improves mood, productivity, and even cognitive function. Skylights aren’t a magic cure for SAD, but they’re an effective (and stylish) way to bring more sunlight into your daily routine.
If you’re dealing with seasonal gloom, installing a skylight could be one of the most practical changes you make. After all, why not let nature do some of the heavy lifting?

How to Choose the Best Home Office Furniture for Productivity
1. How to Choose the Best Home Office Furniture for Productivity
Designing a home office that enhances productivity starts with one key factor: choosing the right home office furniture. Whether you’re working remotely full-time or just need a quiet place for focused work, your furniture can significantly impact how efficiently and comfortably you work. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to choose the best home office furniture for productivity, comfort, and style.
2. Prioritize an Ergonomic Office Chair
One of the most important investments you can make is an ergonomic office chair. Spending long hours seated demands proper support to avoid back pain and fatigue.
When choosing an ergonomic chair, look for:
Adjustable height and armrests to align your body properly with the desk
Lumbar support to maintain the natural curve of your lower back
Breathable material to keep you cool during long work sessions
Swivel base and wheels for easy mobility without straining your body
Cushioned seat with adequate depth for comfort without pressure on the thighs
At Evgor Furniture, our ergonomic chair models blend these features with elegant designs suitable for modern home offices.
3. Choose the Right Desk for Your Workflow
Your home office desk should match your daily needs and tasks. A well-chosen desk improves posture, organization, and overall efficiency.
Consider the following when selecting a desk:
Surface area: Do you need space for a computer, notebook, and files?
Height compatibility: Make sure it matches your chair and supports ergonomic posture
Storage solutions: Look for drawers or shelves to store documents and office supplies
Material and finish: Choose a desk that complements your home décor
Cable management: Built-in channels or grommets help reduce cable clut
Evgor Furniture offers desks in a variety of sizes, materials, and colors to suit every style and space.
4. Optimize Storage with Smart Solutions
Clutter is the enemy of productivity. Incorporating the right storage furniture will keep your workspace tidy and mentally clear.
Smart storage ideas include:
Filing cabinets for organizing documents and reducing desk mess
Open shelving units to keep frequently used items within easy reach
Closed cabinets to conceal items you don’t want on display
Wall-mounted shelves to save floor space and add a decorative touch
Multi-functional furniture like desks or ottomans with hidden compartments
At Evgor Furniture, you’ll find modular storage systems that can be customized to your needs.
5. Maximize Natural Light and Add Task Lighting
Although not furniture per se, lighting plays a major role in your productivity. Position your desk near a window to benefit from natural light. For late hours, invest in a stylish and functional task lamp. Proper lighting reduces eye strain and keeps you alert and focused throughout the day.
6. Consider Aesthetics for Motivation
Your office should inspire you. Select furniture that reflects your taste while maintaining a professional feel. Whether you prefer modern minimalism, classic elegance, or a cozy homey vibe, Evgor Furniture offers stylish home office furniture to suit every aesthetic.
7. Invest in Multi-Functional Pieces
For smaller spaces, multi-purpose furniture is ideal. Consider desks with hidden storage or bookshelves that double as room dividers. These solutions not only save space but also contribute to an organized and efficient home office setup.
8. Create Zones for Focus and Relaxation
If space allows, set up distinct zones—one for work and one for short breaks. A small lounge chair or a corner table can serve as a spot to relax between meetings. Zoning helps your brain switch modes, improving overall focus and reducing fatigue.
Selecting the best home office furniture for productivity isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating a space that supports your workflow, health, and motivation. With Evgor Furniture’s wide range of ergonomic chairs, functional desks, and elegant storage solutions, you can create a home office that’s both practical and inspiring.

The 19th Day of Writemas 👩‍💻🌟✨💖🎇⛄
You have no idea how much these Writemas prompts mean to me @agirlandherquill 🍂💚Thank you for setting up the Writemas tag game and writing prompt festivity! 🤍Time sure has gone by fast this holiday season, but I've been productive thanks to Writemas ❤️For anyone who would like to join the tag game or get a reminder of the rules, read the invitation post.
From the Day 19 list of writing prompts I chose "The passage of time". My writing tends to have a lot of periods where time just goes by for my OC's. It's an area I work on improving. I try to cut stuff during my rewrites. I figured this prompt would help improve a scene in The Blood Cleaners. This is from Draft 3 of Chapter 1, a flashback to when Justin was 8 years old and made the 2nd most important discovery of his lifetime.
___________________________________________________________
Justin marched eastbound to the 12th tunnel with his broom in hand. The speakers of the hallways sounded the radio broadcast of President Fidel’s daily mattenea broadcast.
“People of Corpa,” Fidel’s aged voice declared. “As you finish your midday meal and go back to your assignments, know that the steady course of our city continues because of your hands. You’ve earned your place in the city. As you continue to work, take pride in doing your part to keep Corpa alive while grateful to your rulers who made it possible.”
Justin yawned. The broadcast didn’t switch to music soon enough. President Fidel repeated the same message in Spanish.
Along the way, Justin stopped by the hallway of homes in 10th tunnel - the place he, Elena, Deirdre, and Miriam called home. The hallway walls were covered in blue lockers. Justin turned the combination on his locker, unlocking number 1824. He greeted his precious relics. An album of letters and photos from his birth mother. Spare clothes. A Keychain. He nestled his broom and dustpan inside. I’ll come back for you later, he promised. Justin’s fingers tingled as he let go of the broom, as if the broom meant to say it understood. He slammed the door shut and continued two rows down to the 12th tunnel.
Justin opened the closet and pulled out the wheeled mop bucket and kit of ammonia filled cleaners. Elena’s area covered a lecture hall and three offices just across from a laboratory. The laboratory door bore signs that said “Keep Out” and “Restricted”.
A radio sat on the counter. Justin turned it on. He whistled along to the rock and heavy metal that played from surface studios and tunnel studios alike. He worked. Dusting plastic chairs. Spraying counters and table surfaces with hydrogen peroxide. Wiping the marker boards. Sweeping and mopping the tiled floor in the lecture hall. Vacuuming the carpeted floor in the offices. Taking out the trash. Justin caught glances of the books on the shelves with titles concerning chemistry, microbiology, bioengineering, heredity, toxicology, genetics, and other big words that piqued his curiosity.
When the lecture hall clock indicated it was almost suppertime, Justin gathered all of the cleansers and wheeled in the mop barrel. He read the inventory, confirming that every cleanser and tool was accounted for. He smiled as he looked at the checklist on the wall. He frowned when he saw the last item.
Peeling gum off.
Justin suspected that the chemists liked to put their gum under the tables just to spite the street cleaners. He picked up the scraper from the shelf.
Beginning in the lecture hall, Justin lay on his back as he went from table to table, scraping the undersides.Only the rock music on the radio kept him going as he peeled off each piece and tossed them into a plastic bag.
In the first office, there was one chewed up gum wad. Then there was the second office. Three wads. Justin scraped harder thrust harder into the bag. In the third office, Justin lay on his bag under the table, begging that he would be lucky to see no wads.
Scrawled, scratchy, and seemingly drawn with a red marker, the underside of the table surface carried a squiggly message. Justin peered closely at the text under the dark surface. He took and turned on the mini flashlight from his toolbelt.
To find John, look at the map in cabinet 1214 in room 70 on the third floor of the 5th west tower. Find him or all hope for us is lost. Don’t let anyone see this.
Justin widened his eyes. He was used to seeing strange messages written on bathroom walls or by lockers, usually pointless love messages or secret contraband exchanges. The Fifth West Tower was the last place for an illegal negotiation. The West Tower was part of the Steel. The castle was the home of the Fists and President Fidel. Far as Justin knew, no one in the tunnels had clearance to go into the Steel except for the Fists who were occasionally seen in the areas they managed. Did the writer mean for a Fist to read it? Did the Fists normally send messages like this? Why would the writer say to not tell anyone? Then again, blood cleaners had access everywhere. Was the message meant for a blood cleaner?
He read each word over and over again. John. Map. Cabinet 1214. Third Floor. Room 70. 5th Tower. West. All hope is lost.. Who was John? Why did the writer say that all hope would be lost if John wasn’t found? Who were “us”? All of Corpa?  Justin shivered as chills rippled up his spine. He bore the responsibility of this message, no matter what it meant.
Justin thought about telling Elena, but the words to not tell anyone whispered in his ears. He got up, returned the flashlight to his belt, and looked around for a paper and pen. He opened desk drawers. No paper. He ran into the second office next door. The drawers were locked. He looked inside the first office. The drawers and cabinets were locked there, too. Justin looked in the lecture hall next. He didn’t see any readily available pens or pencils except for a large black marker. He took it and rushed back into the third office. Justin lay under the table, upholding the flashlight with one hand while the other held the marker. He hastily used the black marker to capture the message on his arm.
To find John, look at the map in cabinet 1214 in Room 70 on the third floor of the 5th west tower. Find him or all hope for us is lost.

The Modern Working Lifestyle: How to Thrive in a Changing World
In today’s rapidly evolving work environment, the traditional 9-to-5 schedule has shifted, and the working lifestyle now takes many forms. From remote work to hybrid models and flexible hours, modern professionals are exploring new ways to balance career and personal life. In this article, we’ll dive into the essential aspects of a healthy and productive working lifestyle and offer tips to help you thrive in the ever-changing world of work.
Setting Up Your Ideal Workspace
Whether you’re working from home or in an office, your workspace plays a significant role in your overall productivity. A well-designed space can help you stay focused and motivated throughout the day. Here’s how to create an ideal workspace that enhances your working lifestyle:
Ergonomics matter: Invest in ergonomic furniture to prevent discomfort and health issues like back pain. An adjustable chair and desk are great places to start.
Declutter your desk: A clean and organized desk helps clear your mind and reduce distractions.
Personalize the space: Add a few personal items such as photos, plants, or artwork to make your space feel comfortable and inspiring.
Mastering Work-Life Balance
One of the biggest challenges of the modern working lifestyle is achieving a healthy work-life balance. With remote work and digital devices making it easier to be connected 24/7, it's important to set clear boundaries between your personal and professional life:
Define work hours: Set specific times when you’re “on the clock,” and stick to them. This helps you maintain structure and avoid burnout.
Take regular breaks: Schedule breaks to step away from your desk, stretch, and recharge. Short breaks improve focus and prevent mental fatigue.
Unplug after work: Avoid checking emails or work-related messages outside of work hours. Prioritize downtime to unwind and recharge.
Incorporating Physical Activity Into Your Day
Sitting for long hours is part of most working lifestyles, but staying active is essential for your physical and mental well-being. Integrating movement into your workday can enhance your energy levels and overall health:
Take walking breaks: Get up and move every 30 minutes to counteract the effects of prolonged sitting. Short walks can boost creativity and focus.
Use a standing desk: Alternating between sitting and standing while working can improve posture and reduce back pain.
Exercise regularly: Whether it’s a quick home workout or a gym session, make time for exercise before or after work to stay fit and reduce stress.
Maintaining Mental Well-being
Your mental health is a key component of your working lifestyle. Work stress, deadlines, and high expectations can take a toll on your mental well-being, so it’s important to prioritize practices that help you stay balanced and resilient:
Practice mindfulness: Techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or yoga can help you manage stress and stay centered.
Manage workload effectively: Break tasks into smaller steps and use tools like calendars and to-do lists to stay organized.
Seek support when needed: Don’t hesitate to reach out to colleagues, mentors, or professionals if you’re feeling overwhelmed by work.
Prioritizing Time Management
Effective time management is crucial to maintaining a productive working lifestyle. Being in control of your schedule helps reduce stress, increases efficiency, and allows for more flexibility. Here are some time management strategies to implement:
Plan your day: Create a daily or weekly plan that outlines your tasks and priorities. This helps keep you focused on what’s important.
Use productivity tools: Tools like project management software, calendars, and time-tracking apps can help you stay organized and accountable.
Prioritize tasks: Focus on high-priority tasks first, and tackle smaller tasks during lower-energy periods of your day.
Building Strong Professional Relationships
Even in a remote or hybrid working lifestyle, nurturing strong professional relationships is key to a positive work experience. Building connections with your team and industry peers can foster collaboration and career growth:
Communicate openly: Regular, clear communication helps build trust and avoids misunderstandings in both in-person and virtual settings.
Show appreciation: Acknowledge the efforts of your colleagues and express gratitude when others contribute to your success.
Network actively: Attend virtual events, conferences, or industry meetups to expand your professional circle and discover new opportunities.
Adapting to Change
A successful working lifestyle in today’s world requires flexibility and adaptability. With technology constantly evolving and work environments shifting, being open to change helps you stay relevant and resilient:
Embrace new tools: Stay up-to-date with the latest tools and software that can make your work more efficient.
Learn continuously: Invest in professional development by taking courses, attending workshops, or seeking mentorship.
Be open to feedback: Constructive feedback helps you grow and adjust your approach, especially in changing work environments.
Leveraging Technology

Build a Better Writing Routine
Preptober for NaNoWriMo is finally here! As we gear up for a month of novel writing, it's the perfect time to figure out how to create a solid writing routine that will last long after National Novel Writing Month.
Stephen King is known for his 10-page, 2,000-word daily writing routine. Maya Angelou was famous for renting a hotel room to write. Anne Lamott coined the phrase morning pages. Every famous writer has a different routine, but the key is that each writer has a routine. What is the best writing routine for you? One you can actually commit to.
Whether you’re getting ready for NaNoWriMo or would just like to improve the quality of your writing time, getting into the writing habit doesn’t have to be a chore when you find your own creative rhythm.
9 Bonus TIPS FOR CREATING A REGULAR WRITING ROUTINE
Here are nine steps to develop a writing plan that works for you and your schedule.
1. DISCOVER YOUR BEST TIME
Think about the moments when your mind is most awake, alert, and ready to tackle creative challenges. It could be in the morning, afternoon, or even late at night. Finding your peak productivity hours is your secret weapon.
2. SET REALISTIC GOALS
Don’t create a schedule you can’t keep. Make sure your goals are realistic and attainable. Whether you measure by word count, a scene, or simply putting your thoughts on paper, give yourself the freedom to adapt as needed.
3. CREATE YOUR WRITING NOOK
Find a spot where you can comfortably sit with your thoughts. It could be your home office, a cozy cafe, or even the park. Whatever you do, make it inviting and free from distractions.
4. BREAK GOALS Into BITE-SIZED PIECES
If your busy schedule doesn’t allow you to have long writing sessions, break it into small, manageable chunks. Even a few brief, focused minutes can add up to a great story.
5. BE FLEXIBLE
Don't be afraid to shake up your writing schedule. Some writers can find the time to write daily, while others prefer working in longer, more spontaneous bursts. Feel free to mix and match until you find the right fit.
6. TRY A CREATIVE KICKSTART
If you're having trouble starting, daily writing prompts can help spark your creativity and get those words flowing.
7. FIND YOUR COMMUNITY
While the research has been somewhat mixed, the most recent studies reveal that telling others about your goals can help you keep them—as long as you respect their opinion. Consider sharing your writing schedule with a trusted friend or joining a writing group. Friendly faces can offer encouragement, support, and the occasional gentle nudge when needed.
8. DEVELOP A WRITING PLAN
Having a detailed map of your writing journey can keep you on track. Use a story plotter or planner to outline your plot in advance so you always know what you’ll be writing next.
9. GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK
Remember that not every writing session will be a success. Some days, the words will flow more smoothly than others, and that's perfectly fine. Be kind to yourself and maintain a positive outlook.
