Deaton traveling on his own dime to Japan for a rare lichen to save Stiles and poisoning the yakuza all while looking like he'd fit right in in a action/spy movie will never not be badass. Especially when he says "There's an evil spirit inside a teenage boy and I'm going to poison it." He's unequivocally portrayed as a good guy but fandom still deems him shady and untrustworthy all while writing about Peter mentoring Stiles and Lydia lol.

There's obviously the antiblackness of it all but also the white supremacist notion wherein white characters are entitled to power, and that's what they view the Nogitsune as. Power. Power for Stiles. They see it as wrong for Deaton to "deprive" him of that especially since he's Black.

Here's the thing that underscores your point while also driving racist Teen Wolf fans (and yes, I'm calling them racist at this point, there's no reason not to) to distraction: if you set aside Scott McCall, the person who supports Stiles Stilinski (and Derek Hale) the most often during the entire run of the show is Alan Deaton. Let's look at the tape:

doesn't call the cops on Derek in Season 1

tells Scott about the Bestiary (which ultimately helps Derek)

recognizes and makes sure to include Stiles in the plan to capture Jackson in Season 2

makes sure Derek is okay after Peter uses him

warns Derek about how Peter will try to manipulate him

helps Derek try to locate his missing betas

answers Stiles's questions about Druids in Season 3A

goes with Stiles to investigate the missing music teacher in 3A

rescues Stiles from Agent McCall in 3A

provides Stiles with the means to save his father in 3A

helps Stiles understand his dreams in 3B

travels to Japan to get the Letharia Vulpina

stops the possessed Stiles from killing Scott

secures the possessed Stiles

treats the de-aged Derek

endures Valack's gaze to help Derek

I'm sure I've missed instances but you get the idea. Deaton supplies Stiles with purpose, with information, with lore, but that's not enough for them. It is arguable that Deaton could have done everything for Scott that Stiles did and far more effectively, but Deaton chooses instead not to try to replace him. Deaton cares about Stiles a lot (certainly more than Derek or Peter did).

Oh, sure, the Sheriff rushed about bellowing about "where the hell is my son?" but he didn't actually do much of anything tangible to support Stiles. Their scenes are always about their relationship, and more often than not that relationship was an obstacle to resolving the plot.

Alan Deaton certainly appreciates Stiles's talents as much as anyone, but apparently that doesn't seem to matter to the fandom. You've already covered the reasons why.

I am always wary to use the term anti-blackness because it feels like that is not my lane but I'll do it this time because you said it first. They literally do not have any problem with any white male character criticizing other white male characters. Deaton's criticisms of Peter, Derek, and Stiles are comparatively mild when compared to how those three (or Isaac) go after each other, but somehow that's shown as an emotional connection. Deaton's reticence -- which is extraordinarily exaggerated in the minds of fandom -- is seen as a sign of sinister intent, even though Derek, Peter, and Stiles habitually hide critical information from others. To them, a black male character simply has no right to his own secrets.

But ultimately, Alan Deaton's unforgivable sin is prioritizing Scott -- even if that prioritization only serves to place Scott in danger -- over any white male character. I was watching a reaction video to Frayed (3x05) once, and the white women watching it were shrieking at Deaton not to relent and treat Ennis even after Marin explained that not doing so would place Scott in harm's way. At that point, the Alpha's were Derek's enemies and the reactors thought he shouldn't help them, no matter what. And there's the white supremacy you're talking about -- because this is the same episode where Derek endangers Scott by attacking his peace summit with Deucalion. It's very clear who fandom expected Deaton to value the most, and their disdain for him arises from the fact that he chose to value the lead protagonist over his foils.

It's a clear sign of the unearned importance they try to award white male characters.

Creation Through The Flames

Stiles was a born werewolf but after Claudia’s death she suppressed the wolf inside her out of grief from her loss. And then Scott got bitten in high school and not only ditched her for the newly formed Hale pack but also roped John in as well. However, things change when Stiles sees two injured teens on a burning highway and her long suppressed wolf comes out. Now she finds herself drawn to four werewolves living in Los Angeles as they attempt to find the werewolf stalking the streets. Between that an arsonist investigator, an alpha pack back home, and the Hale pack now finally realising there maybe more to the so called loser, Stiles will find out truths about herself amidst the dangers.

I've seen like 4 different posts recently with people giving their Sterek/Teen Wolf headcanons and I wanted to make one too lol

1. Derek's mother AND father were both alpha werewolves. It was rare for two alphas to marry, thus merging 2 packs and 2 werewolf families, but it's why the Hale family was so unique, powerful, and influential

2. Peter is adopted and Derek's father is Peter's adoptive brother

3. Jackson is Peter's long-lost biological son, not Malia.

4. Kate was a teacher at Derek's school, which is how she gained access to him.

5. Jordan Parrish is Derek's ex-boyfriend who he was briefly with for a year or two while he was living in New York, post-fire but pre-TWS1

6. Derek and Stiles get married.

7. Stiles gets incredibly interested in witchcraft and becomes a very powerful practitioner of magic

8. With Derek as the alpha, Stiles becomes his pack's emissary

9. Stiles does not venture off to become an FBI agent, but rather, he gets his doctorate and becomes a professor at the University of Beacon Hills and teaches mythology & history

10. The events of 3A play out differently

The alpha pack consists of Deucalion, Kali, Ennis, and Theo Raeken (an old classmate of Stiles & Scott)

Derek's pack does not die.

Derek does not give up his alpha power to save Cora, because Cora did not survive the fire.

Scott is left no choice but to kill Deucalion in their final showdown, which gives him his alpha status. There is no such thing as a 'true alpha'.

Derek and Scott exist in Beacon Hills are two different alphas, with different sets of principles, but do not exist as rivals.

11. The Nogitsune possession left Stiles with some residual power (enhanced strength and magic) which he can tap into at times of great distress --- this revelation is what partially inspired Stiles to take up learning magic

12. Allison does not die at the hands of the Oni, Chris does.

13. Endgame pairings:

14. Werewolves/The Supernatural are eventually outed to the world, which brings new problems

16. Scott & Jackson team up to start their own line of werewolf ready alcoholic juice beverages, which use a special strain of wolfsbane that enable werewolves to actually get drunk just like humans

17. Derek and Stiles rebuild the Hale House and turn it into a special home for outcast werewolves who may have been disowned by their anti-werewolf parents and have nowhere else to go

18. Peter is eyeing a run for mayor in his first attempt to gain political power as a werewolf.........he holds some very polarizing views about humans.......

19. Still alive, Gerard Argent acquires full control of Argent Arms, following his son death at the hands of the Oni. He immediately starts work with notable anti-werewolf politicians to capitalize on anti-werewolf folk and their ignorant fears.

20. Gerald also helps to convert Eichen House into the country's first prison, specially designed to house supernatural creatures after they've been sentenced for crimes.

21. Sheriff Stilinski retires. Parrish becomes the new sheriff.

these are basically a bunch of headcanons that I used as background worldbuilding in fics and what I consider to be canon because the real show was a mess, lbr

Love your firefighter!AU, my question is how would Stiles dad get along with Scotts dad in this AU? An FBI agent coming into town after years and looking at the police and finding it lacking? Would the Sheriff still be upset or go "right on!"? (After all the police *are* overlooking a lot of things but his future son in law (his son'll get there, he's perspective in some ways, obtuse in others) is caught up in that!) And what about Stiles wanting to be FBI? Would he still want that?

Ah, see in this hypothetical universe, 1) I did not consider scott's existence in the least-I literally forgot he is a character in this show, and 2) I assume that Raphael wouldn't be there to investigate the sheriff's department. Fire departments and fire chiefs can go under the same investigations as sheriff's departments, if there's enough complaints/allegations of misconduct. If anything, it makes Raphael even more insistent on investigating when he gets to town, responding to the outrageous amount of complaints from the police and the sheriff himself, about Fire Chief Stilinski, and finds out that people call him Sheriff. Instead of the Actual Sheriff.

He finds out that Noah's been showing up to crime scenes bc people are calling HIM, that he's being given way too much information about the various murder investigations bc the witnesses just sort of hemorrhage their experiences at him bc Noah isn't a fucking cop. he's not terrifying, and he isn't going to manipulate what they say to try and get an arrest. They can be totally honest with him, no lawyers needed.

But Noah's working his ass off to stay in the legal boundaries. He's only at the crime scenes as a normal member of the community, after all. He knows them from the firefighter's cook-out last summer. He's moral support. The title is just a nickname, you can't punish him for that. So what if they told him everything? He's not under any obligation to share their stories, and they only told him so he could advise them on safety procedures for the school or their homes or what have you. Some of those murders involved fire, that's Completely within his jurisdiction.

Is he impeding the police investigation? Well, that depends on your definition of impeding. Technically, he hasn't told any of the witnesses NOT to share their stories with the police. He's just told them that Lawyers are important. The lawyers did the rest. totally not his fault if the people of beacon hills refuse to comply any more than absolutely forced by the police station.

What do you mean he's a vigilante, this was a citizen's arrest! He called the police when he caught the guy, didn't he? And California allows the use of self-defense when protecting not only himself, but anyone around him. Totally legal.

And you'd think, Welll, if the sheriff there is so godawful, why don't they vote him out? It's an elected position after all. Only the only person they would want in that position is Noah, who refuses. He's always pushing for non-police options for crime control, without ever admitting to the general public that his interest in supporting the complete overhaul of Eichen's system so that they provide adequate psychiatric care, and anger management classes, and activities for young adults, and poverty reduction measures, are all just ways that he's trying to make the police in town totally obsolete.

He always cites how power corrupts when people ask. How he prefers being able to help without having to carry a gun. (this is a man who faced Ennis head-on without pulling his gun. Just barely, but he did it.)

And as for Stiles' FBI dreams, I admit, I have never ascribed to that concept. I don't think it fits with the Stiles we meet in this show. He actively fights the police force on the regular. He KNOWS that there's no way for them to help with the supernatural side of things. It's like finding out about the great wizard hiding behind the curtain and for some reason becoming his lackey Anyway? When you know it's all a lie?

The only possible reason I can think for him joining the fbi in the show is specifically bc he's looking for Derek or bc he's trying to infiltrate it and pull a thousand things over their heads from the inside.

That idea technically works in this universe too; him joining the FBI because he wants to leak the truth about what it's like there. About how they operate. Because he wants to use the trust given to him against the entire department to protect the supernatural and fuck up hunter plans.
