to say that she's nervous is an understatement, brooklyn is a wreck but she's trying to keep it together. she's not even sure how long it's been, but she knows long enough. long enough since she just vanished without a trace, thanks to her family who decided to stage one last intervention. locked away in some treatment center where she had no contact with the outside world. and now here she is standing outside of the door to the one guy who meant something to her. deciding to get it over with, she gently knocks and steps back no even knowing if dexter is home.

The unintentionally perfect finales will probably become another one of my controversial categories on this blog, since I basically declared that some musicians should have ended their careers at an earlier point. For instance, let's say you concluded with an album that wasn't really you at your best, though you still showed the reasons people like you. The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees by the Monkees, of course, might be one such case. Mind you, their consequent works didn't demolish their legacy, yet they didn't add that much either. However, their struggles predicted a career arc of a typical prefabricated musical outfit. They were one of the better from the category, though they inadvertently established the rules many of the similar proposition go through.

shoes
pairing: clapton davis (2011) / gn!reader
word count: 290 [ a shorty ;( ]
warnings & info: fluff, gender neutral
summary: clapton likes doing things for you- like tying your shoes
note: can you tell the jhutch hyperfix died. please lie and say no 😩😋
You were standing to the side of the hallway, books clutched in your hands, a grin making your cheeks hurt. “I can tie my own shoes, Clapton,” you said, watching as the boy dropped to one knee and tapped your leg.
“I know,” he replied. You offset your leg slightly, moving the untied shoe closer to him. “I got it though, babe.”
This was not the first time he’d done this. Clapton seemed to love doing things for you, no matter how easily you could complete the task yourself. From getting you lunch to grabbing your favorite drink before school to walking you to every class, even though it made him late. He’d most often open doors for you, dramatically shutting your car door when you tried to do it yourself, sending you into a fit of laughter as he reopened it with a flourish and a bow.
“Why, thank you,” you’d snicker fondly, taking his outstretched hand.
He’d bring the back of your hand to his lips, the action exceedingly comical when compared to his highlighter yellow tank top and basketball shorts.
Now, he was standing up, your shoe double knotted and snug. He adjusted your backpack on his shoulder, his own on the other, and held his hand out for yours. You grinned, shifting the few books in your own arms to one side and taking his hand. “You’re too much,” you said, before squeezing his hand and pressing a kiss to his cheek. “I like it.”
Clapton’s cheeks flushed as he beamed, squeezing your hand back gently. “Yeah, well, you know,” he shrugged, embarrassment fresh and genuine as if this hadn’t happened countless times before. It made you laugh, and you pressed another kiss to his smiling lips.

On the Open Water
Pairing: Joe Rantz x OC (Sadie)
Warnings: This is entirely based on the character from the movie and is not meant to disrespect the real person or their families/ experiences.
Description: Joe takes Sadie out for a boat ride. Yes, this is heavily influenced by the scene from the movie. All credit goes to the original writers of the script for the idea.
Boys in the Boat Masterlist
Tumblr media
The first time she'd laid eyes on the tall figure that was Joe Rantz, her heart skipped a beat and her cheeks flushed red. Thankfully, he'd been distracted by his crew who were crowded around him as they walked out to the water. She'd heard about the junior boat, they were one of the hottest topics on campus at the moment - that the 8 of them had managed to beat out so many others was remarkably impressive.
Joe was tall, broad-shoulder and muscular in a way that she'd never seen. His blonde hair looked golden in the afternoon sunshine and he had a laugh that echoed easily in the air. It was plain as day that he was very, very handsome. She allowed herself a few blissful moments to watch as he walked away, but forced herself to turn back to her homework that was due the very next day.
The second time Sadie saw Joe Rantz was at a school-sanctioned party after he and his crew won their first race. She'd been doing her best to keep her gaze from where he was sitting, but considering the party was in their honor, it was hard not to let her attention wander back to him. Joe was seated between Roger Davis and George "Shorty" Hunt at a circular table just off to the side of the area that had been marked off for the dance floor.
Roger and Shorty were leaning close to Joe, shoving his shoulders a bit and whisper-yelling at him as he shook his head, a red flush tinting his cheeks.
Sadie was sitting comfortably at her own table surrounded by some of her roommates who had become some her best friends. Lily and Angela were laughing as they slowly drank the colorful cocktails in their chilled glasses - the only refuge from the increasingly hot room.
"What do you think, Sadie?" Lily asked her, drawing her attention away from the men of the hour. Lily had always been the more outgoing of their bunch, blonde and as beautiful as she was she drew men to her as easily as she breathed the air around them.
Angela was equally gorgeous with long hair that trailed down her back and dark as a raven's wing. Her lips were always painted bright red in contrast to her bright white teeth. She was incredibly smart, witty, and was always making them laugh with some sort of remark made just under her breath.
Sadie smiled, tucking a loose piece of curled hair behind her ear. "What do I think about what?"
Angela and Lily shared a glance, smirking at one another, "About how Joe Rantz has been glancing over at you every few minutes since he saw you sitting there."
"He has not," She protested. Her eyes widened as she took in their honest expressions and twisted, smug lips. "Really," she continued, "I doubt he knows I'm here. What is more likely is that he's looking at one of you."
Lily shook her head, "Looks like we're about to find out."
"What do you mean?" Sadie asked, turning her head to follow the direction of Lily's quirked brow. Joe Rantz had begun to stand from his seat and George was patting him heartily on his shoulder, while Roger looked straight in the direction of their table. He was leaned back in his chair, rubbing his hands together and grinning like the cat that caught the canary.
Joe's eyes caught hers, eyeing the red that crept into her cheeks for a split second before she looked away from him. Casting worried looks at her friends, "He's not coming this way, is he?"
Sadie was not as confident as Lily or as quick-witted as Angela, but she was enthusiastically kind and had a heart twice as large as anyone else. She prided herself on seeing the best in others even though most times she couldn't quite see the best in herself.
Lily and Angela didn't answer, instead they made to stand giving her a supportive thumbs-up before hurrying away from the table. Angela winking at her and her giving her a large smile.
The sound of footsteps nearing the table drew her attention away from her giggling friends. Sadie felt distinctly aware of every hair out of place on her head and the dampness at the small of her back from the heat of the room.
"Hello," Joe's baritone sounded next to her and Sadie looked up into startlingly, clear blue eyes in answer. His blonde hair was combed neatly atop his head and his mouth was softened into a small, hesitant smile. "My name's Joe - Joe Rantz."
She offered him her hand in greeting and he extended his much larger hand to accept it. "It's nice to meet you," she smiled, proud of how she held her voice steady in front of the man she'd been admiring from afar.
Sadie offered him her own name, which he repeated softly, almost to himself. He seemed to be testing the way it tasted on his lips and she couldn't deny the butterflies that took flight in her stomach at hearing him swirl her name around inside of his mouth.
She gestured towards one of the empty seats in an offer for him to sit down. Joe hesitated, eyes downcast before flicking back up to hers, "I was actually wondering if, maybe, you might want to dance with me?"
Sadie's smiled encouragingly, "I'd love to."
Accepting his outstretched hand, she let him lead her to the dance floor. Where he pulled her close and she wrapped her arms around him, feeling the steadiness of his body against her own nervous one. Her heart was beating so hard that she could feel it in her fingertips and she glanced up at his face to determine if he could hear it.
Instead, she caught a look that was a little bashful and incredulous as he pulled her slightly closer than one might a friend. She stepped forward to make it easier for him, delighting in the red that grew at the tips of his ears.
The third time she saw Joe Rantz was beneath her window.
"What are you doing?" She asked, laughing as she pushed the window open.
He was beautiful in the moonlight, eyes wide in excitement and a broad grin taking over his face. "Do you want to go on a boat ride?" He looked up at her expectantly, no trace of any expectation that she would say no.
"Right now?" Sadie asked, voice full of laughter.
He shrugged, "Sure, why not."
She laughed, "I'll be right down." She hurried into her shoes, flinging her door open and ignoring the questions from Lily and Angela. She half-ran and half-stumbled her way down two flights of stairs to the door where Joe waited for her.
"Hi," she greeted, breathless as she pushed the door open.
Joe's grin was brighter than she'd ever seen. He reached for her and she stepped easily into his reach, one of his hands trailing down her arm to her hand which he took in his own. "Follow me," he said, leading her forward.
He must've already been to the University's shell house, because he led her to the dock where he had a small row boat tied securely. He offered her his arm and she climbed into the boat with unsteady legs.
Joe climbed in after her, the very picture of grace and set them off. The water was calm around them and as Joe rowed them away from shore, the symphony of the open water at night performed for them. Swirling water and soft breezes smelling of fresh spring flowers, carrying with it the smell of Joe's cologne.
She turned her head towards him and found his blue eyes already staring at her.
"You're going to row us into something if you don't pay attention to where we're going," she teased, quirking an eyebrow at him playfully.
Joe smirked, his expression the picture of confidence. "Of the two of us, remind me who has more experience out on the water," his voice drew her attention down to his lips, which morphed into something of a smug grin as he caught her slip.
Sadie glanced up quickly. "Obviously, it's me," she continued, tossing her hair over her shoulder pretending to have all of the confidence in the world.
Joe laughed softly next to her and she couldn't help the giggle that escaped her.
He stopped rowing, letting the current take hold once they were in the middle of the water and the boat began to drift slowly as it did.
"Do you like rowing?" Sadie asked, studying his expression. It was mostly hidden from her but as he tilted his head in contemplation the light from the moon illuminated him in a silver glow.
"I'm getting a job out of it," he shrugged. His voice took on a nonchalant tone but his eyes gave away his enjoyment for the sport.
Sadie nudged him with her shoulder, "You seem to be pretty good at it."
"Do I?" Joe smiled, blue eyes twinkling.
Sadie nodded, "You boys are going to become famous with the skill you have in your boat. Just wait, you'll see that I'm right and you'll forget all about me."
She turned her face away from him, not wanting to show him the expression that was likely painting her face.
Joe's calloused hand slid a long her cheek, gently guiding her gaze back to him. "I don't think I could forget you if I tried," he whispered, his voice so low she was sure she could only hear him because he was so close.
Her gaze dropped down to his soft lips again before flicking back up to his eyes. Joe didn't wait a moment and leaned forward, gently pressing their mouths together.
His lips were warm and so very soft against her own. He tasted of salt and something distinctly Joe that she ached for more of. She reached her own hand up, gliding her hand over his shoulder to the back of his neck and into his hair, pulling him closer.
He groaned softly into her mouth and twisted his head, deepening their kiss. Using the hand that wasn't caressing her face, he gripped onto her waist, just holding her softly against him.
She cursed herself for pulling away first but her lungs were begging her for oxygen. They stayed close, resting their foreheads against one another. Joe's breath kissed the apples of her cheek as he exhaled.
"We should probably get back to the dorms before someone notices I'm gone," she whispered.
"I'll row us back," Joe hummed in agreement, though his hands remained where they were. "But, one more kiss couldn't hurt."
His eyes were dark and heavy-lidded as he looked at her, waiting for her permission.
Sadie slid her hand back into his soft, blonde hair and if they shared a few more kisses than their only witnesses were the full moon above them and the open water that surrounded them.
A/N: Would anyone be interested in reading any more about Sadie and Joe?

can u say more about the monkee killjoys because i am so intrigued.... i love killjoy-ifying my faves and the drawings of yours that ive seen are so intriguinggg
hiiii I am working on making more art of them but it is going to take too long so and I am too excited to not respond so here goes.
davy is called Raggedy Andy and he is a droid. i AM born sexy yesterdaying him. He was built in some sort of bli facility and never made it to battery city. he has never been activated when the boys find him, hes some sort of song and dance droid, i have him in his little violin playing outfit from head. the boys discovering his pod can be seen in my little comic. they have to teach him how to be a person. hilarity ensues.
micky is called Shorty Blackwell. he is a zone rat if there has ever been one. idk the timeline of killjoys anymore sorry gerard but if its plausible his parents were zone rats too, they were! he is happy-go-lucky, carries a blaster but very rarely uses it, that being said, is pretty desensitized to shooting dracs, doesn't really seem to comprehend hes killing people because of how he was raised. knows his ways around the zones and is really into astronomy and geology, pockets FULL of rocks.
mike is Carlisle Wheeling. hes sort of a classic dark gunslinger type but god guilty guilty guilty about everything. he doesn't say that though. of course. anyway. he was born in battery city and loves to moralize about it. hes always like, you know you guys should be grateful cuz back in battery city and theyre all like groan mikeeee we just want to eat our freaking beans without a lesson okay?????? he is sooooo fucking DRAMATIC. wears a leather duster in the desert and complains about it being hot.
lastly my beautiful wife peter - moniker, Free Love, but they call him love because that is very cute. heart. will not carry a blaster. uh huh. absolute doozy of a right hook though. <- guilty about that too. talks a big game about pacifism but gets really overwhelmed easily and starts lashing out. then he feels bad -> the cycle continues. he doesn't talk about where he's from which could mean nothing. always wearing as few clothes a possible, much to mikes chagrin. serial pontificater. always got a tab of whack ass zone acid if you need one.

Bully characters X *NSYNC song
Hey, guys! This idea suddenly popped up in my head so why share it with you so here we go! (oh it's funny Here We Go is an *NSYNC song and I didn't even do it on purpose). I'll announce right away that the post is likely to be very long (sorry in advance) and not everyone.
Jimmy Hopkins - Just Got Paid
And if you'll notice my smile is like Kool-Aid 'Cause I just (just) got (got) paid (paid), uh
Jimmy, after having done a mission, is I think very happy to have some money! we know that he does the missions for two things: to foil Gary's plans and to get some money.
Pete Kowalski - Sailing
Sailing (takes me away) Takes me away To where I've always heard it could be (I heard it could be) Just a dream and the wind to carry me (soon I will be free) Soon I will be free Free
I think Pete sees Jimmy as a way to live the dream life he wants to lead: a life where he's not bothered and he's not alone. He would then soon be free, far from what bothers him.
Gary Smith - Forever Young
Whatever may come falling down Will never break our solid ground A million hours until the game is won
And no matter how many plans Jimmy can thwart, Gary will always have one until he wins.
Troy Miller - Crazy For You
Wherever I go, whatever I do, Whenever my heart is crying out for you
Russell invades his mind and makes his heart beat faster every moment, but Troy isn't about to tell him.
Wade Martin - I'm Just Wanna Be With You
If you're scared of love, don't, don't be afraid Because girl, I'm scared too, but I gotta have you
Wade is scared of love because he doesn't want to end up like his parents but he wants to try anyway.
Davis White - If I'm Not the One
If I'm not the one you want, then who's he? Take your time to figure out, and you'll see If I'm not the one you want, then maybe I'll be the one you need
When this girl refused his advances, Davis wondered why and figured that one day she would end up dating him.
Trent Northwick - I'll Be Good For You
I know you want me, too It's in your eyes, they say you do They're telling me you'll open your heart to me Yeah
Trent believes that all the girls are madly in love with him.
Bif Taylor - Do Your Thing
There ain't no excuse for coming up short The ball is in your court (ooh) So reach up and touch the sky
I see Bif saying this to himself before every boxing match as if to give himself courage and strength.
Gord Vendome - [God Must Have Spent] A Little More Time On You
I never thought that love could feel like this And then you changed my world with just one kiss
He thought that someone like him should only date someone of the same social class as him. But after going out and kissing Lola, this view of things seemed boring to him.
Parker Ogilvie - Riddle
The whole song is Parker. He tries to understand the girls, to decode every sign, but he can't. He finds it impossible but keeps trying until he succeeds.
Chad Morris - Celebrity
If I wasn't a celebrity Would you be so nice to me If I didn't have cheese like every day Would you still wanna be with me If I couldn't buy you diamond rings And all those other expensive things Would you be so into me If I wasn't a celebrity Lately
If Chad didn't have the money to pay her whatever she wants, would Lola be interested in him? No, the answer is no.
Bryce Montrose - The Game Is Over
Invincible, is what you think you are But you're just so typical Though you think that you're a star You act like everyone revolves around you
A line of dialogue shows that Bryce doesn't like Lola and I see him saying that to her face so much lol.
Lucky De Luca - Up Against the Wall
She took my hand (oh) We never said a word at all We started grinding Shorty had me up against the wall Ask me about tomorrow You know that I don't care at all I just got caught up when she had me up against the wall (Shawty had me up against the wall)
Lucky is a quiet guy who doesn't care about a lot of things and could have any girl.
Johnny Vincent - It's Gonna Be Me
Every little thing I do Never seems enough for you You don't wanna lose it again But I'm not like them Baby, when you finally Get to love somebody Guess what? It's gonna be me
During an argument, Johnny tells Lola that he doesn't know what to do anymore so that she only loves him.
Norton Williams - You Got It (Joey's part in it I melt)
Walking slowly through the rain Without worries there's no pain When you see a shooting star All your problems seem so far
Norton is so soft and soft as it is that I can see him saying that.
Ricky Pucino - I Want You Back
You're all I ever wanted You're all I ever needed (yeah) So tell me what to do now When I want you back
Ricky, our broken-hearted man, would do anything to get her back and they would be together again.
Peanut Romano - If Only In Heaven's Eyes
I keep your words alive, I could never forget Cause in the final hour you made me proud So proud that I could know you
Peanut can't thank Johnny enough for everything he's done for everything.
Vance Medici - The Two Of Us
'Cause I'm thinking 'bout you day and night And I just can't get you off my mind When you get a minute baby I was thinking we could hook up It's just the two of us, the two of us
When Vance falls in love, he knows he's going to end up with this person because he knows how to go about it and she'll occupy his thoughts until he doesn't love her anymore.
Lefty Mancini - Bringin' Da Noise
Say, c'mon c'mon let's raise the roof And give 'em proof that we can get loose y'all
Because Lefty is someone who lives his life to the fullest and on his own terms.
Hal Esposito - Yo Te Voy A Amar
Te abrazaré Te haré olvidar Lo que te hizo sufrir
Hal loves Eunice would do anything for her.
Beatrice Trudeau - Something Like You
Something happens when you look at me, I forget to speak Something happens when you kiss my mouth, my knees get so weak Could it be true, this is what God has meant for me 'Cause, baby I can't believe That something, like you ...Could happen to me Yeah-yeah... Something, like you...
Everything she feels about Jimmy.
Thad Carlson - Together Again
What can I do to make you see That I'm here, here for you I really hope that you'll come home So we can be together again
All he wants is for him and Dan to be the same as before: inseparable brothers.
Algernon Papadopulous - I Thought She Knew
My world revolved around her My love light burned for her alone But she couldn't see the flame Only myself to blame
He loved Lola, the first girl he fell in love with but she didn't see him because she didn't care about him.
Earnest Jones - Selfish
Almost the entire song is Earnest. Although Mandy refuses her advances time and time again, he still loves her and won't stop until she's his and he'd be willing to do anything for it even if it means hurting someone.
Melvin O'Connor - Space Cowboy (Yippie-Yi-Yay) ft Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes
If you wanna fly, come and take a ride Take a space ride with the cowboy, baby
Melvin already thinks he's a knight so I think he could very well, in a western rpg, think he's a cowboy and pick up a girl like that.
Bucky Pasteur - I Need Love
I just wanna tell you how I feel I just wanna have a love that's real How can I stop this burning desire? I can see that you're the one for me You're the only one I really need I need a love that burns like a fire
The girl he loves and needs is Beatrice and he doesn't understand what she sees in Jimmy.
Casey Harris - This Is Where The Party's At
The whole song is about Casey: a cool guy who wants to have fun with his friends or the girl he wants to date. He's a guy who doesn't get into trouble.
Mandy Wiles - Here We Go
Here we go, one more time Everybody's feeling fine, here we go now (Yes, yes, yes, here we go, *NSYNC has got the flow)
Just replace *NSYNC with Mandy in the lyrics and that's her! She is dynamic, very good dancer and manages to set the mood during matches and parties.
You've made it to the end! Thanks for reading to the end! A la prochaine!

Jork Sick Fic!
Tumblr media
[alt-text image description: a boy with mid length hair lays on a couch sleeping. He is dressed in day clothes and had his arms wrapped around himself. He used his jacket as a pillow.] Davy struggled to wake up, his body was cold and achy like garbage that had been frozen then left to thaw on the kitchen counter. His head pounded and throbbed. Micky had left the curtains open and sunlight assaulted Davy’s eyes. In his head he cried and shunned about being awake, but he threw his legs over the side of his bed and looked around an empty room. It must have been late if Micky was already up.
Feeling woozy, he stumbled down the stairs, chills breaking over his skin like waves. He clung onto the railing as the tight spiral of the stairs made him feel sick as he descended.
Micky and Mike were leaning against the counter with mugs of coffee, Mike leaning the small of his back against it with his hands curling over the edge, Micky propping his hip against it as he watched Mike wraptly as they chatted. Peter sat at the piano, plinking around on the keys and humming to himself.
Maybe Davy would feel better if he got something to eat. Leaning around Mike, he put the kettle on then crouched to retrieve the cereal. His whole body ached and protested. Davy rested his forehead against the cabinet door for a moment, forgetting what he’d opened the cabinet for.
“Alright there, Dave?” Micky asked, tucking his chin to his chest as he looked at his smaller friend.
“M’fine.” Davy snatched the cereal and stood, rolling his neck and shoulders. “Just a little under the weather.”
Mike put the back of his fingers (usually warm, but cold now) to Davy’s check. “You’re awfully pink and warm. Maybe you should go back to bed.” His signature concerned frown hung over his deep eyes. He watched Davy closely as he sipped his coffee.
“Thanks, Mum.” Davy said sarcastically. He poured a small bowl of cereal and opened the fridge to get the milk. They were out, so he turned back to his breakfast, picking a couple flakes up with his fingers and popping them in his mouth. He crossed the too bright room to the piano, placing his bowl on the top as he faced Peter.
Peter sat rocking, his shoulders hunched around his ears as he played and hummed, working out some time or another. Davy reached out and tapped his head to get him to look up. When Peter did, Davy put a spoonful of corn flakes in his mouth. As he put the spoon in, Peter was already changing the melody, playing “When I’m 64” by the Beatles. He laughed around his mouthful and sang “Will you still need me? Will you still feed me? When I’m 64?”
Davy couldn’t help but chuckle too. He ruffled Peter’s lovely hair and collapsed backward on the couch feeling like he wanted to peel his skin of. Could he not get warm? He wrapped a blanket around himself. Around this time the kettle whistled. He saw Micky moving to prepare his tea and spring up to make it himself. It was no offense to the others, but they couldn’t make a good cup of tea to save their lives. Davy seriously hoped that that would never have to come up in their crazy lives.
Davy retrieved the earl grey from the nearly bare cabinet overhead. He stood on his tiptoes, trying to reach Peter’s herbal, but couldn’t reach. He hated when the others put stuff on the top shelf.
Micky reached up and got the box of tea down. “Need a hand there, shorty?” His face contorted in pain as Davy kicked him in the shin. “Ooh ow.” He hopped around on one foot, clutching his assaulted shin.
As he prepared his tea, Davy felt Peter stroke his hair as he slipped in beside him to prepare his own cup. They stood quietly preparing their tea. Davy juggled the sugar and the blanket around his shoulders. A wave of chills hit him even as he could see his arms flushed with fever. He closed his eyes against the bright room. He could hear Peter moving beside him, picking up the mugs and nudging him.
“Come on, David.” He butted tue top of Davy’s head with his chin like a cat before crossing to the sofa.
Davy trailed behind Peter, not realizing he was shivering. When he sat, Peter pulled his into his side saying something about always wanting a cuddle when he wasn’t feeling well. Micky murmured something to Mike, mentioning Davy’s name, his whispy voice carrying but too quite to be understood fully.
Davy wasn’t sure how long he’d laid on the couch wishing he could fall asleep. Eventually Peter got up and Davy swallowed the space where he had been, smooshing his face into the cushions. The others must have gone outside because the pad was mercifully quiet. He drifted off.
Davy woke the work was dark all except a light on in the kitchen. He groaned and sat up, rubbing his bleary eyes. At his feet he saw Peter, asleep on his arms at the foot of the couch where he was propped resting his head and arms on the cushion as he sat on the floor, face turned towards Davy.
Smiling, Davy gently slid off of the couch, careful not to disturb Peter, and padded into the kitchen. Mike was there, brewing his first cup of coffee. The clock read 5:30 am. Davy rubbed his eyes again and gave a sleepy nod to Mike.
“He been there all night?” Davy asked, nodding toward Peter. His voice was soft a croaky from sleep.
“Yup. Trying to look after you.” Mike nodded then fixed Davy with a serious look. “You be careful with Pete.” There was a low level of warning in his voice. Mike knew how much Peter cared for Davy, and he wasn’t going to allow anything to happen to make him unhappy. Mike was fiercely protective of Peter. He was tired of watching the world hurt him.
Davy nodded. “I will be.” He said softly, not looking away from the sleeping boy. His shoulders slumped as he looked, he trembled slightly. How could Peter be so gentle? Why would he even look twice at Davy? Davy didn’t know, but was grateful to have such a friend. Well, friend didn’t feel like the right word. Davy didn’t know quite what they were, but he didn’t much care, he was just glad to have Peter for as long as he was allowed. Davy crosse back to the couch kneeling by Peter. He ran a hand through his hair and down his h Sh eek. “Peter, wake up. Time to go to bed.”
“David?” Peter’s voice was cracked and tired.
“Yeah, Pete. I’m okay now. Time for you to go to bed.” Davy smiled softly at Peter in the dark and put an arm around him, leading him upstairs. Though his head still swam and throbbed, he smile as he tucked Peter into bed. “Good night, Sweet Pete.”
Peter hefted a sleepy sight and closed his eyes, rubbing the fabric of Davy’s shirt between his fingers before his arm fell limp to the bed.
Shaking his head, Davy crawled to his own bed, still shivering a little, but allowing himself to watch Peter as his chest rose and fell. Davy counted the breaths until he fell asleep.

Please don't be mean. Varian and Cassandra weren't romantically involved-- their relationship is strictly platonic. Varian was just a donar and they both were nearly 40 when Hannah was born. So please don't leave any mean comments.

John Garfield in Body and Soul (Robert Rossen, 1947)
Cast: John Garfield, Lilli Palmer, Hazel Brooks, Anne Revere, William Conrad, Joseph Pevney, Lloyd Gough, Canada Lee, Art Smith. Screenplay: Abraham Polonsky. Cinematography: James Wong Howe. Art direction: Nathan Juran. Film editing: Robert Parrish. Music: Hugo Friedhofer.
Body and Soul is a well-made boxing picture, but it also has a historical significance as the nexus of some major careers damaged by the anti-communist hysteria that gripped the United States in the years that followed its release. After its director, Robert Rossen, pleaded the fifth amendment at his hearing before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1951, he was blacklisted in Hollywood. The same fate befell screenwriter Abraham Polonsky after his refusal to testify before HUAC. The star, John Garfield, testified that he knew nothing about communist activity in Hollywood, but studios refused to hire him; he made his last film in 1951 and died of a heart attack the following year, only 39. Cast members Anne Revere, Lloyd Gough, Canada Lee, and Art Smith were also victims of the blacklist. The film stands as an example of the folly of HUAC witch-hunting: With all the reds and pinkos involved in its production, you might expect it to be pure propaganda, but the only leftist message it communicates is about the danger of greed. Today the only viewers who may find Body and Soul subversively anti-capitalist are those who subscribe to the "greed is good" credo enunciated by Michael Douglas's Gordon Gekko in Wall Street (Oliver Stone, 1987). Garfield plays an ambitious young boxer named Charley* Davis who falls prey to racketeers who manipulate his career, despite the warnings of his mother (Revere), his best friend, Shorty (Joseph Pevney), and his girlfriend, Peg (Lilli Palmer). The fight sequences, shot by James Wong Howe and edited by Francis Lyon and Robert Parrish, were groundbreaking in their realistic violence, winning Oscars for Lyon and Parrish. Howe, who is said to have worn rollerskates and used a hand-held camera to film the fights, was curiously unnominated, but nominations also went to Garfield and Polonsky. Palmer, unable to conceal her German accent or to eliminate traces of the sophisticated roles she usually played, is miscast as Charley's artist girlfriend. The script makes a half-hearted attempt to explain away the accent but mostly ignores it. One thing of note: The Black boxer played by Lee calls Garfield's character by his first name, Charley, in their scenes together. The usual racial protocol was for African-American characters to call white ones "Mr." -- "Mr. Charley" or "Mr. Davis" -- the way Dooley Wilson's Sam always refers to Bogart's character as "Mr. Rick" in Casablanca (Michael Curtiz, 1943). It's the earliest example of an assumed equality that I can recall in a Hollywood movie. *A nitpicky note: The filmmakers never decided whether it was spelled "Charley" or "Charlie." It appears both ways on the posters advertising his fights, but it's "Charlie" in the inscription on a gift he gives Peg and in her letter addressed to him. I'm going with the way IMDb lists it.
