thornton looks like a soap opera star and morgana looks so goffik i can't. they look like an odd pair, side by side ... i guess it fits their lore. how did they ever end up together, i wonder??

very long headcanon ramble below:

in high school thornton was a theatre kid and morgana was the emo girl who sat with the queer kids, #ally. they were both really smart straight-A students but thornton had very strict parents and morgana's parents were a lot more chill and hippy. morgana has big dreams, she's a modern woman who wants to have it all - while thornton feels like he has been forced into living and pursuing a certain socially acceptable lifestyle created for him by his family/society. they got married young and as they mature through young adulthood, morgana finds it increasingly difficult to relate to thornton's personality and worldview. (i think morgana's parents were probably always surprised she ended up marrying a man who seemed so fundamentally different from her.)

when they were young, thornton was drawn to morgana because of her open-mindedness, her kindness, her ambition, and her creativity - all qualities he admired about her. and he always thought she was very pretty. she was so different from anyone else he knew, and he loved that she was never afraid to not fit in with the norm.

morgana was drawn to thornton because he was charismatic and handsome, sensitive and in touch with his emotions, and seemed to have his life and future figured out compared to their peers. they could talk for hours about anything. he was always respectful towards her, she never felt weird or creeped out by him like she did with other guys. she could see him as a good husband and a present father to their children.

so they kept dating and eventually he proposed and she said yes because that's what you're supposed to do, right?

thornton has never wanted kids. he thought he might change his mind when he got older but he hasn't. and lately he's not sure he even likes women. he envies the childhood and family that morgana has, he envies her confidence in herself and her hobbies and her freedom of self-expression, things he never had and perceives to still be out of his reach. he resents her for wanting a family and for the pressure it places on him to continue playing the role he has cast himself into.

but they're both doing well for themselves considering their youth, they have a comfortable life together if they don't think too deeply about things, and neither of them wants to ruin that picture-perfect suburban life.

i think deep down they both genuinely have love for each other and care about each other, so it's that much harder to honestly acknowledge that they're incompatible as life partners and they're unhappy and the marriage isn't working.

regarding jamie jolina: i think the reason thornton hit off so well with jamie is because jamie has many of the same qualities as morgana: she is smart, open-minded, kind, and caring. she accepts him for who he is. she listens and doesn't judge. and he can be honest with her about his sexual orientation because she's not his literal wife.

Episode 21: Elemental Forces

As Paul began to spend more time with Jamie, Thornton, and Morgana he began to notice some uncomfortable dynamics between the three of them.

It was already blatantly apparent that Thornton and Morgana were not on the same page about commitment, and as more time passed tension began to develop between Morgana and Jamie as well.

Anytime Thornton and Jamie started to interact, Morgana would interject and try to steer her boyfriend’s attention back to her.

Sometimes she would even make backhanded remarks about Jamie which didn’t go unnoticed. Jamie would jump to defend herself and Thornton would be caught in the middle, with Paul awkwardly watching the situation unfold.

It was clear Morgana was insecure about her relationship and was taking it out on Jamie, but Paul couldn’t help but wonder if there was a grain of truth to her concerns.

Thornton and Jamie were awfully close and seemed to connect in a way that made his incompatibilities with Morgana even more apparent.

Paul wondered if Thornton was the reason why Jamie didn’t seem interested in making things official. Despite the tension of the situation, he did find it all a bit amusing. These two beautiful women were at odds over Thornton Wolff of all people.

As Paul studied Thornton, he wondered why he was worth all of the fuss. He was arrogant, self-centered, and boastful; not exactly the traits a woman should want in a mate. Sure, he had some positive characteristics as well.

He oozed confidence; Paul doubted Thornton had ever felt insecure or self-conscious in his life. How could he, with his chiseled jaw and broad shoulders? Even dressed in a thick sweater, it was obvious Thorton worked out.

As Paul started to envision Thorton in a sleeveless shirt with his muscular arms on full display, his body suddenly felt flushed. He quickly began reciting the Periodic Table of Elements in his head, hoping it would distract him enough to calm his body before anyone else noticed the redness creeping up to his face.

Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium…as he made his way down the list, his body cooled and he let out a sigh of relief.

I spent so long trying to figure out whether or not one of the bellemery kids wasn’t going to have kids when really it’s just that Morgana and Edward only have one each haha. I’m glad that mystery is solved. Can you give us more info on Morgana and her son Alexis?

So Morgana met her future husband at one of her performances. He was a University Professor and a widower. Ellias (not related to Leon) previously had a wife who died when she was pregnant with their child after she got mugged on her way home from work. It took him many years to recover from it. He went to Morgana's show after his cousin invited him to it. His cousin used to go to the same ballet academy as Morgana and is friends with her. After the show, Delilah (Ellias' cousin) introduced him to Morgana. Morgana was immediately smittened and since then, she always asks Delilah to invite Ellias whenever she's performing. Delilah then began setting up dates for them because she thinks it's time for her cousin to be happy and she thinks that Morgana is the right person for him. But ofc, this man comes with baggage. He is interested in Morgana but he's so scared to lose someone he loves again. It's Bellemery all over again but Ellias had no living child unlike Emery who had Ginny before he married Belle. However, Ellias is willing to give love a try again and eventhough there's some hiccups here and there, they make it work.

When Morgie was pregnant with Alexis, Ellias was very overprotective. He made sure to accompany Morgie from and to her theatre everyday until she took a break when her bump began to show. He just doesn't want what happened to his late wife to happen to Morgie too 😭 The pregnancy went well and Alexis was born. They decided that one child is more than enough for them 🫶🏼

The hot summer sun cast a warm glow over the privileged patrons of the Sunset Valley Country Club. The Darling sisters, growing like weeds every day, splashed in the pool, blissfully unaware of the silent disapproval of onlookers.

Morgana Wolff gazed with adoration, as the heavily pregnant Agnes Darling basked in the warm rays of the sun. "Goodness Agnes, you're just glowing." She admired.

"Oh, quit it, you!" Agnes scoffed.

"No, I mean it!" Morgana added. "Your complexion looks flawless, and that hair of yours is so shiny and bouncy. Must be those vitamins you've been taking."

Agnes's mind flashed back to a memory of some old wives' tale Bianca Crumplebottom had shared with her the last time the Crumplebottom Sisters paid a visit:

"Blossoming in the bottom of the belly, a daughter spends her time mimicking her mother's actions, and thieving her of her divine beauty. Yet, a son nestled within, enchants his mother with radiant grace."

"Well it's because I'm having a boy, if you believe in nonsense." Agnes replied with an irritable eyeroll.

"That's absurd, darling. You were gorgeous through all your pregnancies." She grinned. Morgana had always been a loyal friend to Agnes, but it was when Agnes was with child, that a particular instinct within Morgana kicked in. She protected Agnes fiercely, especially during the day when Erik was away at work, faithfully concealing her own longing for the maternal bliss Agnes experienced.

Agnes dismissed the old wives' tales as archaic and superstitious. The gender of her child held no importance to her; life had already given her everything she could ever want.

As anticipation grew, Agnes delved into nesting, transforming her makeshift painting studio and home office into a charming little nursery adorned with sunny shades of yellow.

There were various reactions elicited upon announcing the impending arrival of the third Darling child, though the predominant sentiments were ones of joy and support.

...Mostly. With Agnes and Erik dedicating so much of their time to preparing for the new baby, the soon-to-be Darling middle child was left to her own devices, seeking life-long attention from the lurking shadows of her mind...
