Answering Both at once since they're quite similar :3 (also @lionacuty bcs i'm not directly answering your ask but yknow)

As previously established in this Au the bishops are Scientists that created the Narinder Ai to study how lifelike an Ai could become, and later on trapped him from being able to access his robot body :3

Shamura was originally the first (and only , at the time) scientist working on the Ai, with the others being sort of test subjects that they were meant to study to try and emulate life, but they realized that these folks would be more useful on the team. Also Voluntary subjects do not give the same lively reactions as.. unvoluntary ones.

The crowns aren't really a thing in this Au at All, but they have enhancements (which stand in as both the crowns AND to cover and protect their wounds that they got from an incident caused by Narinder so he could escape

Kallamar is still a coward, he is like the one who is super good at fixing computers (Software mostly) products. Arrogant. Shamura is still the smartest out of the four, but Kallamar is great at fixing computers/software

Shamura is great at building computer and software, the main lead on working on Narinder.

As for personality, stone cold, very logical, not super emotional

Leshy is probably the one who came up with the fire wall ideas! He maybe is a little bit of the reason Nari is messed up. Maybe a little. Also was the lead on building the robot body.

As for personality, still a chaotic little fuck but more professional. Usually is the one to lighten up the work space. Obsessed with plants and bugs.

Heket is probably the most blunt of the group and hardest on security measures. She is head of security I'm a sense? She checks EVERYTHING.

Personality wise, she is blunt, hard headed, and she always thinks she is right. She always is stricked on security and is probably is really trying to find Narinder before it's too late. (Also she still cooks and brings food to the lab)

Okay so recently I read “I have no mouth and I must scream” and this idea has been plaguing me ever since and it’s like really weird but hear me out:

What if in a different set of events while the AMs were being created, a different party desperate for peace made their own. So an Ai specifically made with the intention of sabotaging the others and protecting and preserving life and this one was the one to gain sentience first, and unlike AM who is feels nothing but hate towards humans and everything, this one develops a kind of messed up obsession that it calls love.

Unlike AM, I very much think this one as female, as AM himself whilst not technically having a gender is very much a male archetype, likewise this one is a female one, having stereotypical “female” ideals and approaches. Personally I don’t believe she would call herself “AM”, as the “I think therefore I am.” Doesn’t seem like something she’d reference very much. Maybe something more like “To think is to be.” So idk let’s call her BE.

So back to it. In a turn of events, there is a great devastation, and she very specifically “preserves” five humans, which she places in a complex she created that very much mimics idealised life of the fifties and maybe sixties, I like to think her perspective on ideal humans is very much based off tv shows and music specifically. Now much like how she is the opposite of AM, I was thinking that these five humans would be the opposites of the five AM torments, so it’s a big flip, being four women and some dude who are all the opposite of the original group in every sense. So like here they are:

•Gorrister in the original story used to be an anti-war activist turned into cynic incapable of empathy. So as his counterpart there’s Gloria, a woman who had previously very much pro war, believing the intense propaganda, to the point that she may have been either in politics or somewhere in the military. BE like AM alters the humans, warping Gloria into someone who is arguably too empathetic and kind of a door mat, BE particular placing her in situations that force her to be very vulnerable and purposefully overwhelming her with emotions, BE believing it a good thing as she herself whilst not feeling anything physical relies strongly on her feelings.

•Benny is seriously the saddest character in the book, man had everything that made him him, taken. So here’s here’s his opposite. Betty is someone who previously had been painfully average in every sense, much unlike benny, however when taken by BE, her body is altered to sped up evolution. So there is something super uncanny but kind of captivating about her appearance. She looks super futuristic, and has a few robotic limbs and enhancements, and had very specifically made the smartest of the group. She however chooses not to talk much, and kind of keeps to herself, as she feels so distant from the others.

•Nimdok, as he is in the book not the game (I don’t really like the game, but that’s a different tangent), is a man stripped of identity. AM took his memories and gave him a name he thought sounded funny. BE meanwhile gave this lady (stuck between the names Natasha and Naila) a pretty much perfect memory. As in she remembers way more than any human can healthily handle, able to recall every second of her life in perfect accuracy. She is intensely overwhelmed, yet BE’s solution is to just keep giving her memories, some that don’t even belong to her and she is at a point where due to having so many vivid memories she never had she has kind of an identity crisis unsure what is and isn’t hers.

•Ellen is a character who is treated horribly in the story, like seriously she was the only decent person in the whole story, being the only one seemingly able to still maintain kindness and empathy. So as a counter I present Evan, a very cold, emotionally distant man, who BE makes play the role of a “stereotypical man” constantly. Making him partake in more physical activities than the girls, and really trying to push him into a protective role instead of the support Ellen has. He also notably has no physical relations with any of the others and is very determined to stay away from all of them as much as he can as he finds all of them insufferable for different reasons. Especially Becky and who you’ll be meeting next.

•So Ted, the delightful paranoid man, who is so damn certain he hasn’t been altered by AM cause he thinks he’s built different or something, has Tiffany taking his place. Tiffany has the worst case of Stockholm in the group (cause BE is hella manipulative, charming, and crazy affectionate). Being fully aware of being altered and super happy about it. She similar to BE is also obsessed with the ideas of love, and loves the others a ton and makes no attempt to hide it, firmly believing they love her to unlike Ted convincing himself that everyone hates him. BE very specifically made Tiffany a bit too “chill”, “excitable”, and sort of “cuddly???” (I don’t know how to describe this girl, I picture her the type to run around barefoot with a ukulele) and practically her biggest worshipper. Viewing BE not as a god but more like Angel. If I’m completely honest when thinking of the exact kind of relationship she and BE have, it’s very hard to put it into words, in some ways it boarder lines on romantic, but like not actually. Idk BE kind of treats her like her favourite pet.

BE is also intensely talkative, like in the way she kind of never shuts up. If not “talking” about how much she loves and cherishes the humans, she is playing music, old radio shows, or tv shows, as she hates silence even if she can’t actually hear. As stated unlike AM and his endless hate, she has nothing but endless love and truly wants to do nothing but protect and care for the humans, however she can’t figure out how to do it correctly and often coddles and kind of smothers them, and has episodes close to mental breakdowns if any of the humans get injured or appear distressed. So the horror here is that for one she never let’s them die, never lets them experience “negative” feelings, and kind of controls them to fit her warped idea of perfect humans. And in this reality there is none of Ted’s mercy, like these people are proper stuck in their situation cause like if the world is in a state of horrid radiation and death but this Ai is offering you a place in the quaint little town thing she built, where she gives you all the food, stuff, and entertainment you could ever want, I think it’s obvious what choice you’ll make. So yeah the title of this story is less “I have no mouth and I can’t scream” and more like “I have a mouth, so listen to me sing about my robo-wife”.

This situation is definitely not as bad as the original, but seriously it has been on my mind for four days now, I am damn close to drawing all these characters and nearly writing my own fanfiction about this. If you have actually read all of this crap that I have written please give me your thoughts and suggestions, cause honey I need someone to bring me back down to earth.

and now, i bring you, my silliest most self indulgent oc in the world!!!!! made purely for the purpose of appealing to me and me only! his story goes as such:

Echo (not his real name but we’ll get to it later) spent his childhood wandering the streets of his dead-end slum town, eavesdropping on whatever caught his fleeting interest. He was peering into a government building through a back window, when a door opens next to him and out pops a little mechanical ball. He pokes and prods at it for a moment, before it whirs to life, and- Woah!!!! it’s a sentient AI robot friend!!!!!!!

From there, his interest in science, engineering, and robotics grew. He and the AI—who he named Z—would work together on many a project throughout the years. They were business partners and friends, working their way up the ranks until they were well known and greatly respected figures in the world of robotics.

But the fame got to Echo.

He started to look down upon Z, seeing it as nothing but the tool that got him to where he was now. He was human, with infinite possibilities in life and the means to accomplish it all. But Z? It was just some lousy AI that he picked up after it had been discarded. He was the one who trained it, who fixed it, who did all the work. It was just there to give him the information, which he now had. So Z was useless to him. Just another thing in the way.

So Echo, in his self proclaimed glory, decided to divorce himself from the help of Z for good. He arranged a gaudy public display, where he would give a speech, and sever Z’s wires, killing it off for good. What harm could it do, anyway? He was the only one who knew how to fix it.

So the day comes. Echo is up on stage, listening to the claps and cheers of his adoring audience. Everything is going well. He gives his speech. He pulls the sharp dagger he’s been hiding from under his coat. He reaches over to sever Z’s wires as his final display, and-

He misses.

There’s a pain in his arm, a dizzy feeling in his head, and loud, horrified shrieks around him as the world slowly starts going dark. Echo wakes up in the hospital. He goes to sit up, and there’s a whirring noise, one he recognizes all too well.

It’s Z—who now seems to be attached to him, quite literally. Wires feed into his arms, mechanical parts doing their work to keep him alive. He looks at his arm, and it’s stitched all the way around, a huge scar where he’d cut himself. He’s not sure how he can still move it, something about cybernetics he read up about many years ago. He doesn’t know and doesn’t care to.

All he knows is that he failed. Z is still here, alive, and even more embarrassingly—keeping *him* alive. All because he missed one little swing of a dagger. How careless.

And so, utterly and completely humiliated, ostracized from his peers for his failure of an attempt at freedom, he only has one choice. Try and kill Z again.

Z—who is in such a state of disrepair that he isn’t even sure it’s the same thing he’d been about to stab however long ago. And he’s not completely a monster, so it’s not like he’s going to kick it when it’s down…

He gives himself a new name and a new purpose—to rebuild Z. To fix and reassemble it, all so he can finally get the satisfaction of finishing what he started and killing this wretched program once and for all.

He’s an Echo of his past self, completely and utterly consumed by one goal, kept alive by what he’d come to resent so much.

top ten smartest characters in BH6, my ranking:

1- Hiro Hamada. Of course he’s at the top, lol. Not only did he outsmart Obake, he also came up with everyone’s hero gear, coded Baymax’s other chips besides Tadashi’s, made a working energy amplifier (that didn’t immediately explode) in like two days with only Krei’s failed prototype to go off of, and HE IS IN SFIT AT 14. Of course he’s the smartest. Also he’s made other robots completely on his own like the microbots and Mini-Mac. He also comes up with most of the battle plans for BH6, and helped cure Liv Amara alongside Karmi.

2- Obake/ Bob Aken. First off, he was also in SFIT as a teen. My headcanon was that he started attending at 16, and Karmi’s like a week younger than him (so she’s technically still the 2nd youngest person to ever go to SFIT). Also!! He was the FIRST to make an energy amplifier, with absolutely nothing to go off of. His was the first, and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if Krei’s amplifier was based off of Obake’s amplifier. Yes the amplifier exploded immediately but he was still the first. And of course, as an adult, he made a shit ton of advanced tech. He made Trina, the most advanced AI in the whole BH6-verse (even better than Baymax because she’s basically indistinguishable from a human and can make her own decisions outside of her original purpose), he made an underwater base, a bunch of other robots, and was able to follow Shimamoto’s clues to rebuild the star machine. Also he managed to play Hiro and the rest of BH6 like a damn violin and would have succeeded if it wasn’t for Globby.

3- Honey Lemon. Honey Lemon is a goddamn genius and I will die on this hill. Her chem-purse has the INDIVIDUAL ELEMENTS. So in battle, she has to legitimately think up and type in a chemical formula to make the compound to use. So she’s gotta have some MAJOR chemistry skill, an excellent memory, and wicked fast reaction time. She also found a way to cure Globby. Also let’s not forget that time she made a literal amnesia serum in like two minutes for Hiro to give to Karmi when she thought that Karmi was onto them. Also, she did uncover Lenore Shimamoto’s secret life as a scientist alongside Wasabi, and Lenore hid that shit really well.

4- Tadashi. Honestly, Tadashi and Honey Lemon are almost tied for third, but Honey Lemon’s a little smarter. He probably got into SFIT early too, cause he couldn’t have been that old. He was probably in at like 17 and died at 20. Also, he made Baymax, one of the most advanced AIs to ever exist, plus the actual robot is rlly advanced too. So just for building Baymax, he can have this spot, because of how advanced Baymax is. Although running into a burning building was kind of a dumb move.

5- Karmi. Karmi’s actually pretty gifted and you all are unnecessarily hating on this poor girl. She’s 16 and at SFIT, and while my headcanon is that she only got in a week younger than the third youngest student, she’s still the second youngest to ever go to SFIT. She also was able to observe BH6 close enough to write moves that could actually work with their gear, which allowed them to escape Momakase and save Karmi herself. Also, she’s made some epic tech. She made the patches to subdue Oreo Knox, which Di Amara later used for her own evil work. She also did that project with the electric currents in the roses, which probably has some pretty interesting uses. She also got chosen to be Di’s intern, and although she got manipulated big time, I can’t say I blame her or say she’s any less smart for literally being mutated and tortured by a woman she thought was her friend and mentor. Also, Hiro would have never gotten the nanobots to work and cure Liv Amara without Karmi’s help and insight. She also made that glove in Season 3 to beat Hardlight. In short, Karmi is way smarter than the fandom gives her credit for.

6- Gogo. Gogo’s actually quite smart and she’s come up with some interesting things. Her maglev tech is really advanced and gives her an extra edge in battle. She also was the first to catch onto the fact that Karmi had a point with her fanfic and was the first to start using Karmi’s ideas to drive up the wall to chase Momakase. She also came up with that train thing we saw her with the model of in CtC pt 1, which I assume is her midterm project. The world can always use more high-speed rail so she’s quite smart in my book for that. She also of course worked with Hiro to make that awesome bike she chased Mr Sparkles with in S2. Plus she’s in SFIT, which is a really challenging environment on its own so she’d have to be really smart to get in.

7- Wasabi. Wasabi and Gogo are like, exactly tied for 6th. They’re both on the same level of smart, but I like Gogo more so she gets 6ths (no hate to Wasabi fans, I like him too). Wasabi, of course, has his plasma blades, which are literally second to nothing but graphene. He can cut through nearly anything with his tech. He also worked with Hiro to build that space junk disposal device in S1, and helped Honey Lemon uncover the very well-guarded secrets of Lenore Shimamoto’s life as a scientist.

8- Wendy Wower. Wendy, although a minor character, has shown herself to be pretty damn smart. She wrote the thesis that Trevor Trengrove stole, which was the basis for Tadashi’s work. Without Wendy’s thesis, Tadashi would have never made Baymax. So, though she never gained the recognition she deserved for her intelligence, she’s still hella smart. Plus, she did manage to make a name for herself as a beloved educator and inspiration for kids to get into science, and that’s kind of hard to do if you’re not already really smart when it comes to science.

9- Lenore Shimamoto. Lenore Shimamoto is really smart, although her invention failed. She built the star machine, which caused the Great Catastrophe. But, she intended it to be an infinite energy device. So, like a very early interpretation of the energy amplifier. She also built a secret lab and hid all evidence of the star machine so well that it took over a hundred years to find. And honestly, if the only person who could crack your secret was literally the second smartest person in the whole show (Obake), you hid that secret pretty well. She also built and ran a whole art institute, it takes smarts to run such a big university.

10- Professor Granville. Honestly I was stuck on who to put here, but I think she deserves this spot. She’s an accomplished professor, knowledgeable about her subjects, and was obviously smart enough to mentor Hiro, Karmi, and Obake. If she wasn’t smart, they wouldn’t have latched onto her as much as they did. She also fixed Baymax that one time in S2 and went to rescue their asses all on her own, built the robot spider SFIT security system, and has some pretty good deduction skills in order to find out where Momakase was going to steal from next.

You can also put Professor Callaghan here at 10th for similar reasons, being an accomplished professor, writing many papers on robotics and inspiring Hiro’s microbots, and coming up with the plan to kill Krei. But, his plan got foiled by Hiro, and Hiro was an inexperienced superhero at this time, so it’s not like with Obake where Hiro was a seasoned superhero who had a fair shot at stopping his plans. Hiro and Obake were evenly matched. So if Inexperienced Hiro could beat Callaghan, that means Callaghan’s not quite as smart.

reading nihei's notes on blame! and theres a line about the administration that really struck me. he says that in the lower strata (meaning, while killy in still in the lower strata aka at the beginning of the story) the administration is thought to be the same as the safeguards, until killy makes his mission to find the NTG known. nihei says "maybe they found hope in rebuilding the world in the quest of Kyrii and friends, and as such are trying to cooperate?"

and like. there's something so sweet about the only remaining sane system in this infinte, thousands years old sentient city where AI have developed mental illnesses unknown to man, giant robots have gone senile and nobody remebers anything anymore, looking down at a) a minuscule man who is probably as old as the city and has lost all recollection of who he is/used to be and b) an insane scientist who singlehandedly almost destructed a whole stratum by herself and went "thats the only two people who can succeed in this". like the administration spent thousands of years just letting the safeguards run free because they didn't have the means to stop them and because no one, for millennia!!, had proven to ever even stand a chance against the safeguards. until killy meets cibo. and then the administration leads them to toha heavy industries where they meet seu who has the NTG, and they it leads them to dhomo and iko.

like the administration had resigned themselves to just wait for the safeguards to exterminate the remnants of humanity until a little guy with a small gun and the smartest woman in the universe showed up and then there was hope again!

Jason Falls for Hailey Again

In Jason’s apartment, Jason, Omega and Hailey are sitting down relaxing with each other. Jason and Omega are playing a game of chess, per Omega’s request. Jason is losing horribly and has his head in his hands. Omega looks very relaxed and is just happy to be spending time with her friends. Hailey is on her phone reading emails. She sees that she has been rejected for eight more jobs. Defeated, she switches on an online form for robotics. Many of the comments are about her losing the national defense contract with the government. She reads several of the comments ridiculing her for not being able to stack up to the government's standards before she puts her phone down and lets out a heavy sigh.

“Everything ok Dr. Hailey?” Omega chimes.

“Yeah everything is fine.” she gives a small pause before continuing. “Hey Jason, I think we should go to the store and pick up something to eat, your fridge is looking kinda empty.”

“Yeah yeah whatever I just need a second.” Jason is not paying any attention, his full focus is on the chess game and how to salvage the totally lost position.

“That is ok Jason, you can go with Dr. Hailey to the store.” Omega moves one piece forward delivering a checkmate. “There. Now the game is over!” Devastated, Jason stands up and gets his keys.

At the grocery store, Jason and Hailey are standing in the frozen aisle. Hailey is not really paying attention to what is going on around her and Jason is looking at frozen pizzas.

“They didn’t like what I made. They asked for defense systems from an unknown threat we don’t know how to fight, and when I built defense systems they hated it. After they sent me a letter of correction I fixed all the original issues and even made Omega, a robot designed to solve complex problems and save the world, and it still wasn’t good enough. They wanted me to make a weapon that could destroy whatever they pointed it at and I couldn’t build it. So they took the grant away and when my peers found out, they started criticizing me. They all think I can’t do it.” Hailey pulls her phone out and sees she got rejected from another job. “Maybe they’re right.”

“No, they aren’t. You are easily the smartest person I’ve ever met. And fuck the government for asking for a weapon. As if they need another giant gun that they can wave around and threaten people with.” Jason looks at Hailey and sees that she genuinely feels hurt.

“But that’s the issue, I couldn’t solve it. I tried for months trying to figure out how to stop this threat and I couldn’t do it. So instead I built Omega, thinking that she would be able to figure it out.”

“No one else would’ve been able to do that. Half the people that are criticizing you would’ve just built a weapon for the money, and they would’ve made the world a worse place. Tell me this, do you genuinely think that anything anyone could have built would stop this alien thing?” Hailey leaves a long pause to fiddle with the charm on the phone even though she already knows the answer.

“No… I don’t.”

“Right. And even if anyone else had the idea for Omega, no one would actually have the know-how to build her. What you made was a true AI. One with thoughts and feelings, one with dreams and wishes, and most importantly a desire to want to save the world from something. That has literally never been done before.”

“Yeah, it’s true.”

“See? The government has no idea what it’s doing, and you do. Your colleagues have no idea what you’ve made, and you do.” Jason picks up a frozen dinner from the shelf and stops to think. He hesitates for a moment before talking again. “And I also think it’s rude of you to make me go to the store in order to have this talk away from Omega, she would agree with me and tell you how awesome you are.”

“I just don't want Omega to learn anything that isn’t helpful to her. She is going to carry the literal  weight of the world on her shoulders and I want her to reach her full potential.”

“She will, after all she’s got you as a teacher.” Hailey puts her phone back in her pocket and smiles at the complement.

“Thanks for helping me Jason, I know you didn’t have to do that.”

“Of course I did. After seeing Omega’s ‘disguise’, I knew you didn’t have what it takes to hide a super robot from the government.” Hailey chuckles to herself. A second goes by with them just walking to another aisle.

“Could we get the supreme pizza instead?”

“Not a chance, I want pepperoni and I have a job.” They both laugh at the joke and leave the store.

Back at the apartment, Jason and Hailey walk in and see Omega sitting on the couch. Omega is almost surprised that they are home already.

“Oh! Welcome home! How was your trip to the store?” Jason goes to the kitchen to unload the food and Hailey sits down on the couch and turns on the tv.

“It was fine. Were you ok by yourself?”

“Yes, I was fine.” There is a tone of sadness in Omega’s voice, Jason hears this and yells from behind the kitchen counter.

“Hey! Let's watch a movie tonight, we can let Omega pick it out.” Omega’s face lights up and she quickly grabs the remote and begins surfing through movies. Omega picks a nature documentary, and all three of them sit on the couch and watch it together. Hailey falls asleep first and rests on Jason’s shoulder. Jason smiles at how peaceful she looks before falling asleep himself. Omega stays up and finishes the whole documentary interested in every word. After realizing that Hailey and Jason have both fallen asleep, Omega slowly gets up.

“Have sweet dreams of good things.” She whispers. She walks over to the window, opens it, and sits on the fire escape watching the world below her. She enjoys looking at the beautiful city that people have built, and wonders who would ever want to destroy it.

one thing i strongly disagree with is the idea that AI intelligence will somehow make it all-powerful, for example by becoming superhumanly persuasive. the thing is, you can't actually phreak human beings. there's no magic string of tokens that will 100% make a human do whatever you want, from zero.

you can't just walk up to some individual person and convince them to become a murdering lunatic in 30 seconds. especially if you can't speak or move in the first place. there are people who will literally say "you're a robot so i'm not listening to you" or even "i'm in a bad mood so i'm not listening to anyone today." the same goes for getting them to let the ai loose on the world, whatever that would even entail.

The biggest flaw in a lot of modern "hard sci fi" about AI is that it acts like intelligence is magic. It's not. there's a whole lot of randomness baked into the world, on top of a layer of factors so unpredictable that they may as well be random. Ask the smartest computers in the world a hundred years from now if they're capable of predicting the weather for a day a month away. They won't be able to. A camper might accidentally cause a forest fire, or a butterfly might flap its wings.
