Someone posted about Jake having a sister who is deaf and uses ASL (I can't find it, sorry) and it woke up the fic idea I had some time ago from hibernation
An AU where shortly after Carole's death, Bradley starts losing his hearing. At first, Mav thinks it's just a lack of focus and him being inside his head too much (which, normal given the mourning/depressive state of Bradley's emotions at the time). But then he and Ice notice it only happens when they're on his right side and start to get worried.
A visit with a family doctor and a visit with an audiologist later, and they find out his hearing loss is expected to progress, they just don't know how far — it can stay mild, it can get worse over the years, or it can get worse quickly. It's probably been happening for some time already, they might have not noticed because so much was happening (which Mav will forever feel guilty about).
Mav and Ice are left to explain all that this implies to Bradley. Mainly that Bradley will never be able to become a pilot with hearing loss, even if it stays mild. And even at thirteen, almost fourteen, all he's always wanted to be was a pilot and they have to break the news to him — even if his hearing doesn't get worse, he won't be able to join the Navy in any deployable role.
Obviously, it doesn't go well. Bradley is in denial, rebelling against anything related to the hearing loss — won't go to the SLT, to the audiologist, won't wear the hearing aids.
Until he starts high school after the summer break and realizes he can't hear the teachers well — not in the front seat, not when the classroom is silent. Turns out, the hearing aids are not enough — he needs a new set up already.
Mav takes out a sabbatical and they start everything from the beginning. New audiologist appointments, new hearing aids, new ASL lessons for the two of them, and some extra ones for Ice as well, lip reading lessons, SLT. Bradley doesn't have a choice, his hearing is getting worse and either he will adapt or his life is going to get difficult — and they're in a good enough situation, financially, and with Mav and Ice caring enough, that he can adapt as much as possible.
By the time he's in junior year, his hearing loss is severe. Their options are either sending Bradley to a boarding school for deaf kids or having him have an interpreter at school. Bradley feels strange about the boarding school so he has an interpreter for the rest of high school — which doesn't get him many friends...
College-wise, he doesn't know what to do. There's a few colleges in California that offer programs with support for deaf students, but the degrees are limited. Eventually, he decides to enroll in the Rochester NTID for aerospace/mechanical engineering and it kinda changes his perspective a lot.
There are other deaf students on campus, some even on his course, and it shows him so many different ways life can be still okay — he's never met anyone deaf his age before and being friends with people who either lost their hearing like him or were born deaf and had been involved in the Deaf community for years is amazing eye-opening. He stops being so bitter about life, even if he'll never stop feeling sad about not realizing his dreams. It teaches him to not care about what others think he is capable or not capable of doing and just do his own thing.
The Institute also has great support, also including the newest hearing aid tech. Cochlear implants only became widely available when he was finishing high school and despite many people celebrating being Deaf on campus, there's many people who also opted to have surgery or implants to help restore or conserve their hearing.
By the time Bradley gets the cochlear implants (funded mostly by Mav and Ice), he's not that set on having them, actually, not as much as he was when he was seventeen and they just came onto the market for kids. In fact, he only wears them for the purpose of work (he gets a civilian contractor job for the US Air Force of all places...) and prefers to have them off when he's at home or around people who know ASL (which is most of their family now). Being deaf is part of him, a part that is bigger and more settled than the part that used to wish he was 'normal'.
He only swaps the implants for a newer model sometime around the early 2010s because they can actually meet the FAA regulations and at the age of twenty-seven, Bradley is finally able to get his pilot license and then a commercial pilot license.
Now the hangster bit...
TG:M happens — Mav is there with the team obviously but Bradley is kinda around him because he's been contracted by the Navy the past few years (kinda like Charlie) and working with Mav in China Lake before.
Bradley shares the office with Mav and they hang around whenever Mav isn't training the Daggers — the whole group is kind of speculating on who he is — and Jake actually meets him once when he's looking for Mav and comes to the office.
He makes an ass out of himself (because this is Jake Sersin we're talking about) and basically shouts at Bradley, who is not wearing his hearing aids at the moment (he's doing paperwork, near the airfield, it's easier to focus if he doesn't hear ever single aircraft taking off) and gets super humbled when Bradley looks at him and only then clicks his very visible external processor on, and then asks him if he needed something.
After the mission, Mav and the Daggers stay close, work and outside as well (trauma bonding, even though Bradley calls them his little ducklings). This means Bradley is around them a lot, too.
Around the Daggers, Bradley wears the cochlear implants almost all the time, just for the sake of being able to be part of the conversation and having a better grip on the background noise and to know what is happening around him.
Now, this is when Jake gets a little... enamored.
Bradley is objectively cool, okay? He's deaf, but he's a commercial pilot and a stunt pilot on the side, he likes to jump out of planes (for research), he volunteers as an ASL interpreter and is certified to interpret. He's hot as well and Jake's brain overheats anytime he answers his half-flirty remarks with the same, if not bigger, force.
And Jake is a bit smitten, but Bradley never really makes a move. He's obviously contemplating making a move himself — Bradley is chill, even if it was a no, he'd not make a big deal out of it — but he's also his CO's kid and the COMPACFLT's kid and like, Jake doesn't wanna be the one to cross the line.
It's Mav who tells him — when he notices him staring at Bradley playing piano (and isn't that super cool? he's deaf and he can play piano better than anyone Jake knows) — that if he wants it, he should go for it because Bradley is too shy to make the first move, ever.
So one evening when they're at a barbecue at Mav's, Jake stays late, basically the only one left, and he is helping Bradley bring the dirty dishes into the kitchen, and Mav leaves them alone (giving him a goddamn wink as he steps out...)
The second Bradley begins with, Look, I'm flattered, he knows he's in a losing position, but tries to negotiate anyway — because he can see Bradley does like him, and for whatever reason, he just needs to point out it's enough and that he can see they have some chemistry and he promises to treat him to a good time if he gives him a chance.
So Bradley tells him how it is — he hasn't dated anyone who isn't deaf/hoh since he was nineteen and he doesn't plan to. Jake is great and he's sure they'd have great chemistry, but he's not the type to do the casual bit and he's pretty sure Jake will never make the effort he needs him to make because he doesn't understand how big part of Bradley being deaf is.
Jake denies it — so Bradley starts signing at him the alphabet (the first thing people learn when they learn ASL usually) and Jake just blinks at him dumbly, proving his point.
Obviously, Jake doesn't get it and says exactly what Bradley expected him to say, Well, I don't really need to know it, you've got the hearing aids.
And to Bradley, it proves that he's either not thinking of them as something long-term or that he just doesn't get what Bradley being deaf means, long-term, for his life. You realize I don't wear them all the time, right? Not at home, not around family, not around most of my friends. Wearing them constantly is exhausting. What will you do when I take them off? Or do you just expect me to never take them off?
Jake goes home and that's it, really.
It's sometime later, a few weeks or a couple of months. Jake's never brought up going on a date again and Bradley made peace with that — he was right and Jake either didn't want to commit or the effort was too big and he's no longer interested in him. Shame, but it's not the first time it happened — mainly why Bradley doesn't date people outside the deaf/hoh community anymore, they don't understand, he's cured or acceptable kind of deaf to them, because of the implants but when they come off — he's deficient.
The Daggers are sitting down with Mav when Bradley comes home and they're in the middle of a conversation and Bradley doesn't want to interrupt Bob so he just asks Mav via signing if he ate dinner already. Before Mav answers, Jake says out loud, We ordered in, leftovers are in the fridge.
And fair enough, Bradley goes to the kitchen and he's unpacking gyro from the plastic container when it hits him — Jake just understood his signing. And like, what the hell.
He doesn't want to make a scene so he waits until Jake is a little bit more alone (not really possible with their group).
When Jake notices him staring, he just goes, Why are you looking at me like that? Do I have something on my face?
And Bradley feels a bit stupid, but he signs the same thing he asked Mav before and waits for some kind of answer and Jake just says, Shit, and gets all red in the face.
So Bradley just starts signing. How long, why didn't tell me, what the hell, and all that. Because why didn't Jake told him he could understand, that he knows ASL?
And Jake just stares at him. You're going way too fast, I'm not that good at it yet
And Bradley stops and stares at him dumbly. Yet?
Sheepishly, Jake's face gets even redder, and he's avoiding Bradley's gaze as he says, I was gonna tell you once I can actually communicate and not just know a few words and phrases.
You know it's going to take months, right? I took me months and I was learning for hours every day and practicing with my dad all the time.
Well, I assumed you meant I need to know it if I want to take you out so, y'know...
And Bradley just looks at this dumb dumb man and just maybe falls in love a little bit. You don't need to be fluent in a whole new language to date me, just acknowledging you'll have to at least try is enough.
It's actually more than enough. Maybe Bradley is a bit fond of Jake, sue him, but it's more than enough to give him a chance.
Oh, is all Jake says, okay then.
And Jake clears his throat, steps a little bit away and takes a minute to revise in his head, and then signs,
DATE-YOU-WANT-GO-WITH-ME
It's a little clumsy and a bit slow, but Bradley takes his time to slow down and just signs YES in reply

From Apple to Disney, Gucci to Shell, many of the largest companies in the world have used carbon credits for their sustainability efforts from the unregulated voluntary market, which grew to $2bn (£1.6bn) in size in 2021 and saw prices for many carbon credits rise above $20 per offset. The credits are often generated on the basis they are contributing to climate change, mitigation such as stopping tropical deforestation, tree planting and creating renewable energy projects in developing countries. Proponents say they need to massively increase in size and scale to help meet the Paris agreement to limit global heating. But repeated scandals about their true impact and a crackdown from regulators on claims of “carbon neutrality” have meant that demand and prices for offsetting have slumped, with signs that some carbon credit traders are writing off investments that would have been worth hundreds of millions of dollars as recently as last year.
[...]
A new study in the journal Science has found that millions of forest carbon credits approved by Verra, the world’s leading certifier, are largely worthless and could make global heating worse if used for offsetting. The research by scientists and economists at the University of Cambridge and VU Amsterdam was one of the three studies used in a January investigation into rainforest offsets by the Guardian, Die Zeit and Source Material. The Science study was used in a pre-print form while awaiting peer review, which it has since passed. The analysis, published on Thursday, found that 18 big forest offsetting projects had produced millions of carbon credits based on calculations that greatly inflated their conservation impact. The schemes, which generate credits by avoiding hypothetical deforestation, were found not to reduce forest loss or to reduce it by only small amounts, far less than the huge areas they were claiming to protect, rendering the credits largely hot air. The findings follow a 2020 study of 12 projects in the Brazilian Amazon by the same group, which found they had a negligible impact on stopping deforestation despite generating credits on the basis they were preventing large areas from being destroyed. A 2022 study of 40 Verra-approved projects led by University of Cambridge researchers found that while some projects did stop deforestation, most stopped none or small amounts.

Disability-Friendly Prosperity Magic
So let's face it, those who are disabled have a hard time with money in general, either from being unable to work or not having a steady, strong source of income. Sometimes we can monetize our hobbies, admittedly at a limited capacity (some less or more than others).
From our relationship with money, money mindsets, and income streams, it's hard. That's not to shame anyone, either. Some overspend to cope, while others are incredibly frugal.
In this post, I will review some resources, tips, and tricks for the struggling disabled witch.
The Mundane Before Magical
Step one is to make a budget and track your expenses. I'm serious. Sit down, look at where your money is going, and decide on a budget that you can realistically stick to. I use the 50/30/20 rule as a budget, which is 50% Needs, 30% Wants, and 20% Savings. However, I recently switched wants and savings around so I can save for a trip.
Now I do not want you to worry about a big fancy budget method. I don't want you to overthink it. Here is a resource (Canada, but it can be used in the USA) to start one. Focus on your needs like housing, utilities, basic clothing, food, etc. Then go into wants and entertainment, and finally, savings. I suggest you put any debt payoff into the needs category if you have any debt. You do not want a blow to your credit report.
Now do you have any financial goals? Going back to school? Debt payoff? A trip? Even a big medical trip coming up? Here is a resource (Canada, but it can be used in the USA) that can help you create a goal and a plan to pay this off.
Savings, please, your SAVINGS. It is vital to have an emergency fund. Job loss? Death? Vet bills? Children? Dentist? You better believe that piles up. It is recommended if you are single to have at least 3 months of income saved up, with a child and single at least 6 months. Married on two incomes, the same amount. Married with one income, it is recommended without children at least 6 months saved up and with children 9 months. It is vital you have the means to take care of yourself if an emergency strikes. It is never recommended that money be stopped from being put into these accounts.
If you are in debt, look at your debt relief options. Sometimes there are services out there that can advocate for you regarding debt. They will help you develop a plan, understand the relief options, sign documents with you, and develop a credit rebuilding program. These services are out there; even if they are paid, they can help you pay off some of your debt, especially credit card debt.
Educate yourself on investing, basic investing, and financial literacy, in stock markets and everything beyond. Know what kind of accounts you can hold and what could help you in your situation.
Need help applying for disability? Here's a resource for the USA (a lot can also be used for Canada).
The Magical
Upkeep a prosperity altar. Work with the spirit of money like you would any other spirit. Honour it, talk to it, venerate it. Money loves to be valued, moved, not wasted, and used in charity. Most importantly, money takes time. Money takes time to grow and build a relationship with.
This is the most important thing I've learned about money. It wants to be worked with. It's sitting there. It wants to help and aid you in ways that you need.
Work with this altar on Thursdays, incorporating the spirit of Jupiter. Jupiter rules over finances. Long steady finances, not quick finances. Jupiter rules over business, legal and all things finances. Jupiter is a slower-moving planet.
You can also incorporate the spirit of Mercury on Wednesdays along with your Jupiter workings. Mercury is a fast-moving planet, a planet for fast-moving money. However, you must build a long, steady form of finances over quick, easy cash (but sometimes you do need it right now).
You can create a money bowl and work with it on this altar, a Jupiter cashbox (I will make a future post on this), or a manifestation mirror box filled with petitions, sigils and your investment/banking information.
Fill your altar with greens and gold, imagery for wealth and abundance, pocket change, and anything else that symbolizes wealth.
Do not forget to leave offerings for your money altar. A simple glass of water can do but try to do more if you can.
Road opener workings or petition with an offering for the cross-road spirits who can unblock blockages in your way.
Final Take Away
I know this might not help everyone, but I sincerely hope this helps somebody. Financial literacy was not taught to everyone, nor were proper budgeting tips. I wanted to share what I've learned over the years as I believe it is vital information for some of the information I have collected.
Blessings

I think your article today did a good job laying out why Play Boosters had to come about, but I'm still feeling mildly apprehensive about the change. I reread your articles "Project Booster Fun" and "Set Boosters" and one of the throughlines in those articles was player agency. I liked that Set Boosters and Draft Boosters filled different niches and purchased both types of boosters depending on my needs. Play Boosters feel like a compromise that is going to leave both parties less satisfied.
As a drafter, I don't like the idea of a draft pool being warped by the List slot. If you continue to do premier set Universe Beyond tie-ins (like the Transformers and Jurassic World cards), I don't look forward to drafting those (even if I can appreciate them design-wise). The "extra value" that you mention doesn't matter as much to a drafter if they are passing that value to the left (although, I guess in fairness, they could also be passed value, but it does exacerbate the age-old dilemma of do you draft for value or do you draft for your deck?).
As a collector, it's disappointing to see the loss of a guaranteed art card (although I'm sure I'm the minority in that). The odds of opening a card from the List also seem a lot lower and the List taking over a common slot instead of the Token/Ad slot feels worse. The List in the Token slot was always a bonus, even if it was only a common or uncommon. If you continue to do premier set Universe Beyond tie-ins (like the Transformers and Jurassic World cards), I'm worried that the designs will be limited by keeping Limited in mind rather than making the best design for the IP.
That's just my two cents on the matter. I'm sure you folks have thought about it a lot more than I have and we'll have to wait until Markov Manor to see how Play Boosters...play out.
The market didn't want two core booster packs. It turns out more Magic players enjoyed having a fun booster opening experience than enjoyed playing limited formats, so set boosters were edging out draft boosters.
Our move to play boosters is us trying to keep player agency. We want players who want to play limited formats to continue to have the opportunity, but we wanted players who enjoyed a more exciting booster pack opening to keep having access to that as well, so we basically changed the set booster such that it also allowed limited play.
This is not us trying to lessen Magic for anyone. We're adapting to the needs of the players while staying true to the needs of the market. The history of Magic is constant evolution, and this is just the next step in the game being the product that makes the greatest number of players happy with it because it lets them have the greatest options of how to interact with it. If we were shrinking agency, we'd just make set boosters and stop having limited be part of the game.

“My sense is that Meghan's market is more of the TJ Maxx demographic.” Interesting assessment of Meghan’s market. From a business perspective, brands who end up at TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc. (owned by the same company TJX) are typically bought in due to 1) supplier has made too much (overstock) and it isn’t selling 2) it’s getting close to the end of its expiration dates (close out) and it sold in at a much cheaper cheaper price to TJX. She’d still need a regular place to sell before she tries to offload (usually at a much lower margin / maybe even a loss) to TJX. I’m basing this on my experience with working in food industry and resorting to these retailers for the same reasons.
Exactly my point. The TJX brand is the end of the line for so much product and merch these days (especially fast fashion) that it's inevitable Meghan's products will end up there if this turns into the deal she wants to be. The key thing is that she needs product first. That she launched without a real product is very telling.
To me, what I think it says is that she's not getting the investors or partners that she wants so she launched ASAP to use the media's hype as part of her negotiation or recruitment strategy. (In addition to taking advantage of Kate's absence, of course.)
I made a suggestion in an earlier post that Meghan's competitors are the socialite/influencers that are launching their own brands or already have brands. A great many of those brands use print-on-demand dropship merch. They save on overstock storage and production fees by only keeping a limited selection in stock and marking up their own prices to cover "demand."
I see Roop heading in that direction. If they can't find a distribution vendor (e.g., Kohls, Target, Macy's, etc.), they'll do dropshipping but at such low quantities they always sell out - which is the same tactic Meghan uses when she wants to be a fashion influencer (she wears something already heavily discounted and with so little stock that she can take credit for "selling out").
What is interesting, and why I think Roop has a good argument for exclusivity with TJX companies, is Rae Dunn. Most of her product is sold exclusively through TJX and she has a deal with a company called Magenta Inc., an online retailer that's thought to be behind Rae Dunn products in places like Amazon and Walmart.
So there's precedent for Meghan/Roop to sell exclusively with TJX, with perhaps a side deal for an online storefront like Magenta offers. But that's not the audience or market Meghan wants (even though she herself is the "wine mom" elder millennial motivational-quote-spouting stereotype that buys Rae Dunn and shops at TJX stores so it's a natural fit). She wants Roop in luxury marketplaces that prices out the very people who would actually buy Meghan's product.
She's stuck between a rock and a hard place. I think she realizes it now while watching the metrics on social media plateau from a total lack of engagement and total absence of content (hence throwing Mandana under the bus in Page Six). Which is surprising. Given the way she rolled out Sussex.com with the IG Vancouver kickoff - four or five days straight of new Sussex content and material - I expected the same thing with Roop; 1st day - social media launch, 2nd day - lunch papwalk, 3rd day - product launch, 4th day - "checking out my product" charity visit/papwalk, 5th day - Netflix cooking show promo, and so on.
I know, I know. Stop giving her ideas. I'm trying!

How long will Nintendo's strategy last compared to XBOX's and Sony's strategies?
Seems to have kept working pretty well for them for the last, oh, say, 42 years?
If Nintendo themselves is to be believed, they have only ever sold their own products at a loss like, twice? Ever? One of the only times their sales ever visibly underperformed (on the Wii U), Satoru Iwata docked his own pay so they wouldn't have to fire anyone.
I think about this a lot, but I remember Eiji Aonuma saying that the HD remaster of Wind Waker HD had a higher budget than the original Wind Waker did. Considering Wind Waker HD wasn't a dramatic mechanical change from the original game, I take that to mean R&D on the lighting engine cost as much as an entire game did.
Which makes me think development costs on the original Wind Waker must have been tiny. And considering Nintendo doesn't hire celebrity voice actors or license music and limits how much outside contracting they do, it makes a lot of sense.
Nintendo is known for making the best of the bare minimum and they reap gigantic profits from that. They're worth something like 66 billion dollars? They could probably stop making games tomorrow and continue to operate their office for the next five to ten years.
Asking "How long will their strategy last?" as if there's some kind of logical endpoint where they will cease to exist is almost like telling a joke to me. Like, you don't even have to like their games (there are definitely some that I don't), but you can't deny they are incredibly frugal and balance their books extremely well.
If the market ever crashes again and all video games as we know it cease to exist, the last game on store shelves will unquestionably be a Nintendo game.

‘A couple of centuries ago, farmers produced multiple crops to feed their families and maybe put aside some surplus as a safeguard for the coming year. Only if they had an outstanding harvest were they able to sell some of their product,’ he explained.
‘Monoculture emerged as access to much larger distant markets made it increasingly profitable to specialise. Specialisation meant more efficient planting and harvesting, fewer types of expensive equipment, fewer labourers with specialised knowledge of individual crops, and strengthened knowledge of one value chain and commercial market, including all its regulations and tariffs,’ he added.
Farming, once one of the most natural of endeavours, has become ‘artificialised,’ claims Raul Zornoza Belmonte, an expert on sustainable land use and crop diversification and professor of agricultural engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Spain.
‘This globalised capital, chemical and energy-intensive sector is having a negative impact not only on the environment in terms of loss of biodiversity, soil health and greenhouse gas emissions but also on farm productivity and expenses,’ he explained.
Through the Diverfarming project, Zornoza and his team have tackled these challenges by creating a free web-based decision support tool to provide tailor-made solutions, and guidelines for diversified cropping systems. This app also includes a toolbox for adapting the different agricultural activities and even a new prototype of an improved machine for tilling the soil.
youtube
Diverfarming’s community of ‘diverfarmers’ implemented these tools and is now enjoying the benefits. ‘In vineyards and orchards, organic farmers have introduced herbs like thyme and oregano alongside or between the main crops. This has reduced the weeds and their expensive and time-consuming removal, and with the same labour, instead of weeds, farmers now have fresh-cut herbs that can be sold as they are or from which their essential oils can be extracted and sold,’ said Zornoza.
‘Aromatic herbs and their beautiful flowers attract beneficial insects – and potentially agritourists, a boon for rural tourism – while increasing soil quality and nutrients and enhancing water retention, and with no effect so far on the quality or production volume of fruits or wine,’ he added.

But the advantages of growing different crops together don’t stop here, the practice can also limit erosion, improve the storage of soil carbon and reduce the amount of nitrogen in water. It also provides home to a much greater range of life both below the soil and above from tiny microbes and creepy crawlies to reptiles, birds and mammals.

Hello everyone
Let me tell you my story
I am Aya Muhanna, I am 21 years old and I study at a university digital marketing
I am Palestinian and live in Gaza City. Before October 7, my life and the life of my family was full of stability
As each of my family members sought to achieve their goals of success
The entire course of our lives has changed. Since the 7th of October, since the declaration of war on my city, our house has been almost destroyed due to the successive bombing around our house. Note that the enemy on the 9th of October forced us to leave our house and gave us only half an hour, and it was not enough time for us to take our clothes and get up. The enemy completely destroyed our house. The enemy killed everything that was beautiful in my house and killed our memories. You know very well that the house is nothing but a small homeland for us.
Then we moved to the house of one of our relatives in northern Gaza, and every day the enemy became more ferocious than the previous day. The bombardment was intense and there was no use of prohibited weapons, including phosphorus. Our suffering began with the lack of food supplies and the provision of water. The enemy prevented the entry of food supplies and destroyed any water truck.
All this suffering that we were going through, I had hope that one day I would return to my university in order to continue my studies and finish the educational stage, but even this right that any normal human being has, the enemy made it just a dream for us because he destroyed my university and it was not limited to my university only, as most of the universities in my city He destroyed it
We had three options: death from bombing, death from hunger, or submission to the enemy’s orders to go to southern Gaza.
We decided to leave for the south of the Gaza Strip, or the so-called safe zone, as the enemy claims, and we thought that it would be safer, as I stayed in a tent with my family, and it lacked the minimum necessities of life. There was no healthy food, not even clean water, and even our stay in a tent was not safe from the enemy’s explosions, as the occupation destroyed it. A nearby residential building, which led to the injury of my brother’s wife. The days of war extended and we fled from one place to another. Since our displacement from northern Gaza, we have moved to 4 governorates, including Al-Maghazi, Deir Al-Balah, Rafah, and finally Nuseirat. I do not know if we will have another displacement or not
As for my father, in 2017 he was diagnosed with cancer and had many operations since he learned about the disease until 2022. The operation was successful for him, and among the doctor’s instructions to my father was that he needed follow-up and health care always, and because he had many operations on the intestines, he needed to be provided with healthy food and Clean water and all these other instructions are available in my city, as my father cannot monitor his health in Gaza’s hospitals because they are so full of people injured in the war. Also, the simplest things he cannot do, such as tests to determine the extent of blood strength and kidney function, and the vitamin medications he needs have become difficult to obtain. He gets it
My father’s suffering did not stop with the loss of the house, which was completely destroyed by the enemy, and the enemy also destroyed the accounting office in which my father established his companies with my brother.
As for my sister, I remember how much she was trying to succeed in order to get her job and went through many difficulties until she succeeded
She was fulfilling my demands and trying to help me, and now she is unable to even help herself or me since the war on my city began.
Before October 7, I did not need Go Fund Me, but I now need your help because everything we owned was destroyed by the enemy. I need to build my future and the future of my family outside my city in search of safety first, and then build my future and the future of my family as we always aspired.
These are our most basic rights.
I ask you to help me and donate to me 5$ is enough to save me and my family from this hell

Unlocking consistent returns: the power of forex signals
Understanding Forex Signals:
Forex signals are indicators or recommendations that provide insights into potential trading opportunities. These signals can be generated through manual analysis by experienced traders or through automated systems. The primary aim of these signals is to alert traders to potentially profitable trades based on specific criteria.
Tumblr media
Types of Forex Signals:
Manual Signals:
Expert Analysis: Skilled and experienced traders analyze the market and provide signals based on their insights and strategies.
News-Based Signals: Events and economic indicators can significantly impact currency values. Manual signals may be based on breaking news and economic reports.
Automated Signals:
Algorithmic Trading: Using pre-programmed algorithms to analyze market conditions and execute trades automatically.
Copy Trading: Traders can automatically copy the trades of successful signal providers.
Advantages of Forex Signals:
Time Efficiency:
Forex signals save time by providing traders with pre-analyzed opportunities, eliminating the need for extensive market research.
Expert Guidance:
Access to the expertise of seasoned traders allows less experienced individuals to benefit from the knowledge of professionals.
Emotion Management:
Emotions can cloud judgment in trading. Following signals allows traders to stick to a predefined strategy without being swayed by emotions like fear or greed.
Diversification:
Signals often cover a range of currency pairs, providing diversification benefits and reducing risk.
Key Factors for Consistent Returns:
Risk Management:
Regardless of the accuracy of signals, risk management is crucial. Setting stop-loss orders and controlling the size of trades helps protect against significant losses.
Education:
Traders should understand the basics of forex trading to make informed decisions, even when using signals. Knowledge enhances the ability to assess and filter signals effectively.
Continuous Monitoring:
Markets can change rapidly. Regularly monitoring trades and adjusting strategies based on changing conditions is essential for consistent returns.
Choosing Reliable Signal Providers:
Not all signal providers are equal. Researching and choosing reputable providers with a track record of success is vital.
Challenges and Risks:
Market Conditions:
Signals may not perform well in all market conditions. Understanding the strengths and limitations of the chosen signals is crucial.
Over-Reliance:
Overreliance on signals without understanding the underlying market dynamics can lead to losses.
Scams:
The forex market is not immune to scams. Traders should be cautious and choose signal providers carefully to avoid fraudulent schemes.
Conclusion:
While forex signals offer a valuable tool for traders seeking consistent returns, they are not a guaranteed pathway to success. Successful trading requires a holistic approach that includes a blend of education, strategic thinking, and effective risk management. Traders should view signals as part of their toolkit and not as a standalone solution. When used wisely, forex signals can indeed contribute to achieving more consistent returns in the ever-evolving world of forex trading.

Anais' Attic- Balatro.
Have you ever wanted to play Poker, but it's actually Yu-Gi-Oh, but it's Slay the Spire? Well that's what you'll get out of Balatro, the latest Deck-builder Roguelike to hit the market.
I'm a fan of roguelikes/lites, both Clo and I have been for a long time. Risk of Rain 2, Rogue Legacy 1 & 2, Hades, even Enter the Gungeon to a certain extent- and of course, Slay the Spire. Hell, even in Honkai Star Rail we ended up only playing through more of the game so we could unlock more Simulated Universe content.
There's just something about the addiction of “Just one more run, just one more run, cmon, can't end on a loss, just one more” that scratches the lizard brain’s itchy rash like freshly manicured nails, and Balatro definitely hits that urge. It's the prestigious winner of two of our personal rewards, one of which is that in an effort to not have to stop playing, we decided to purchase it on both Ps5 and switch. Sure it's only 15$, but that should tell you all you need to know about how good it really is.
But in case you'd like a full breakdown, here you go.
As stated Balatro is, in essence, another deck-builder roguelike. You win battles, earn money, and proceed to use said money to acquire new cards so you can win more battles to earn more money and so on. Same loop, new software. But one of Balatro's unique things is that it uses your standard 52-card deck as its base to build from. It's more complicated than that by the end of the average run, but that is where it starts. If you've seen a 52-card deck, you've seen every card in the starting deck. Where it gets wild is the different jokers you can use to build into getting all sorts of wild combinations, like turning all your cards into the same suit, or giving you a 4x multiplier for playing a four of a kind.
Because that's Balatro's other shtick- it's a poker game on top of everything else. You know all the memes you can find joking about Chess 2? Well this is Poker 2. If you know how to tell a three of a kind from a straight flush, you're a bit ahead of the curve, but you'll find your advantage means little when you need 300,000 points to beat the end boss of an ante, and you're barely making 30k with your hands. You're in Balatro's casino now, and you're gonna play by its rules.. But hey, at least it'll tell you the rules. That's more than you'd get in vegas.
Balatro is, however, all gameplay. Not so much as a scrap of an excuse plot. If you imagine a scale with “Roguelike storytelling” on it, then Balatro is far on the other end, about as far away from Hades as it gets. If that turns you off, no big deal, I don't judge. But I will tell you you're missing out.
Balatro has exploded in popularity, and it's been mostly to its benefit. I say mostly because while the game did manage to sell over 500k copies in two weeks, it didn't manage to escape without an 18+ Pegi rating, and an outright ban in South Korea as of the time of this writing. Banned and outrageously rated for the same reason there's no more game corner in the Pokémon games- it's too much like gambling, even when games that are essentially gambling and encourage gambling are not only allowed, they're shoved in your face.
If you're just looking for a thumbs up or down, let me answer that with a cautionary tale. Clover and I were told to give this one a try by a friend, and it proceeded to consume just over 30 hours of our sadly limited time on this earth over the span of a week. Given we work a dayjob, but have the ability to play for an hour at lunch, that's essentially nothing but Balatro in every spare moment. Which is why Balatro is the recipient of our other personal reward, being awarded the honor of getting deleted just so that we could get any work done.
After all, if the house always wins, then the only winning move is not to play at all. - 🌙

The Self as a Whole: Friends and Foes
( Previous | - )
Index
Nazis gfys. Tankies gfys too. That's it. That's my blurb. Enjoy!
Unity is strength. It's in a unified goal that we can achieve much. I had a metaphor during my time as an anarchist among the voting populace, that we're all on a train and will ally with some statists who will get off at their stop but we keep going. It wasn't until the results of the 2016 election, with the loss of Gary Johnson, that I finally came to the same conclusion of Murray Rothbard: this isn't working. Unlike with Rothbard, however, my disillusion wasn't simply towards the American Libertarian party, but rather for the whole idea of voting. In the years following, I grew closer to Konkin's politics and read more market anarchists, gaining further understanding of traditional anarchist definitions including that of capitalism and the role it plays within the State apparatus. But having been both outside and inside the movement of global anarchists, I've come to another conclusion: this isn't working.
This isn't a disillusionment with the politic of anarchy, not in the slightest. This is instead a disillusionment with the activism of anarchists and the relationships between various groups of anarchists. It is exceedingly difficult to work, let alone have a discussion, with anarcho-dogmatists (ADs). Various groups of anarchists have such a narrow view on what anarchism means that any stepping out of their predetermined line makes one a traitor to the politic. There are ADs who believe you cannot be an anarchist and accept markets. There are ADs who believe you cannot be an anarchist and eat meat. There are ADs who believe you cannot be an anarchist and not hang on the words of Marx. There are ADs who believe you cannot be an anarchist and be religious in any capacity. There are ADs who believe you cannot be an anarchist and be critical of the various social movements they identify with. The list goes on and on.
The AD is a divisive force within anarchism, their sepulcher necessitating purity but only if it's their purity. Konkin was a supporter of Industrial Workers of the World, built on syndicalist ideals, and lauded it as an example of an agorist union at work. He called for an agorist-syndicalist alliance, seeing both methodologies as feeding into the counter-economy. It's no secret that agorists have by and large been individualist anarchists and syndicalists have by and large been social anarchists - one need only spend five minutes discussing politics with each group to understand this to be the case. Konkin was critical of party politics but was willing to "reach across the aisle", so to speak, and ally with social anarchists for one simple reason: the partyarchy is more unified in maintaining statism than anarchists are in achieving anarchism.
Sadly, what I observe in anarchist interactions are contests of "Who's a real anarchist?" There is a necessity for unity, otherwise there is fracturing, there is schisming, there is disorder. Whether it be through synthesis anarchism or anarchism without adjectives, a unified anarchist front would see much progress be made. There are three key beliefs that are universal across anarchist schools: the State is used as a weapon by the elite against the people and thus must be eliminated, statist economics is built to restrict our ability and desire to resist and thus gives power to the elites, and mutual aid is a necessity to a functioning stateless society. Anything beyond these three are unimportant to revolution - these are primary beliefs, all else is secondary. Some discussion may be had about whether or not these are truly the primaries, or even the only primaries, but the AD will see the secondaries as equally essential to anarchism and thus sow division, in such a way that it is worse than any fed-op could do on its own.
But a call for unity cannot be without its limitations. Too often I see the allyship of anarchists and statist communists, working towards the end of the "bourgeoisie" and rise of the "proletariat". But a pressing question must be asked with such an alliance: what happens once the "glorious revolution" is complete? There isn't a sharing of anarchism as the goal, the statist communist has no intention of removing statist structures, only transforming them into their own statist structures. The idea of the dictatorship of the proletariat has been, since it's inception, flawed in its reasoning and disastrous in its execution. Statist communists will deny the evils of the regimes they idolize, similarly to the way neo-nazis deny the evils of Hitler's regime, but the anarchist, communist or otherwise, should recognize the problem with giving any group of people power over others. This train will end with the, historically ruthless, red fascists subjugating and eliminating the anarchists that helped them along the way.
This isn't a call for left unity - the left has seen the terrors of Stalin, of Lenin, of Mao, those which have rightfully been criticized as "red fascists". Unity of the left would include the commune and the gulag, it would see the statist left line the anarchist against the wall. This is a call for anarchist unity - for we are anarchists first, adjectives second.
