Red had always been a light packer. Everything she owned fit into two duffel bags and a sturdy, military-grade trunk with rusted latches and peeling stickers from a life lived too fast. She didn’t like clutter. Didn’t like mess. Didn’t like reminders.

Her boots thudded against the polished tile of the East Hall dorm corridor as she scanned the brass-plated doors for her new number. 3C. Her new home. New semester. New chances not to screw things up.

Inside her chest, her heartbeat ticked like a time bomb.

The keycard beeped, the door clicked open, and she stepped into a half-empty dorm. Neat, sterile. Three desks. Three beds. Three closets. Her third was untouched. The other two were already lived in—textbooks stacked high, one bed sloppily made, something that smelled faintly like chemicals wafting from a desk drawer, posters of human anatomy lining the walls above the other bed.

So her roommates were here.

“Hey! You Red?”

She turned around fast, hand half-reaching for the switchblade she no longer held. Old habits.

The voice came from the doorway—a girl barely taller than Red, with blunt cut bangs and long brown hair flowing freely and unevenly, with safety goggles perched on her forehead like a fashion statement. She stood on the balls of her feet, dressed in grey sweatpants and what seemed to be a pajama shirt with the collar cut, decorated with a gas mask.

Olivia. Chemistry and Fire Science major.

“I’m your roommate, well, one of em.” she said with a wide grin, shouldering a backpack that clinked ominously. “I brought snacks. And thermite.”

Red blinked. “…Great.”

JEREMY “SCOUT” WILLIS

Teufort University – South Dormitories – 10:47 a.m.

“I called top bunk, bro.”

“You weren’t here.”

Jeremy’s duffel hit the floor with a thump as he stared up at the smug Australian stretched across the top bed like a damn jungle cat. “I was on my way. I told you in the group chat.”

“Didn’t read it.”

Jeremy groaned. “God, you suck.”

“Cheers.”

Move-in day was already a disaster. His cleats were soaked from the sprinklers outside, Coach Doe had already texted about the preseason lifting schedule (Sundays too?), and now his roommate was some silent, half-feral bushman who smelled faintly of eucalyptus and gun oil.

Mick Mundy—Biomedical Engineering major, heavy on the “bio.” Rarely spoke unless it was to be sarcastic or threatening. Great.

Jeremy flopped onto the lower bed, arms outstretched.

Another year. Sophomore year. He had a scholarship to keep, a fastball to fix, and now a roommate who probably shot rabbits in his free time.

But hey. Could be worse.

FLO PAULING

Teufort University – Criminal Sciences Wing – 1:16 p.m.

“Second floor, end of the hall. And remember: don’t touch the bones unless you’re gloved up.”

Flo clutched her orientation packet and stared at the skeletal remains laid out in the display case beside the department lounge. Every vertebra was labeled in red ink. Someone had dressed the skull in sunglasses and a tiny foam hat. She had a feeling she knew exactly who did it.

Medic.

More accurately: Prof. Ludwig, for Advanced Forensic Medicine and a looming presence in the halls, with a sharp grin and sharper scalpel collection. He technically wasn’t allowed to run labs unsupervised. Technically.

But he was brilliant. A little unhinged, maybe. But brilliant.

She adjusted her cardigan and moved on.

Criminal Science was what she loved. Crime scenes. Cold cases. Answers in the smallest traces. And her dorm this year came with two roommates: Olivia—whose locker in Chem class once caught on fire—and a new girl named Red Van Acker. There’s no way that’s her real name right?

She was curious.

PROFESSOR MIKHAIL

Teufort University – Russian Literature Department – 3:00 p.m.

Mikhail read through the syllabus draft once more before printing.

Week 2: Tolstoy. Week 5: Chekhov. Week 9: “Crime and Punishment.” Midterms before snow.

His office was quiet, save for the creak of old floorboards and the steady tick of the grandfather clock in the corner. He enjoyed the peace here. Enjoyed literature. Believed in the power of words, though he spoke few himself.

He had a full roster this semester. Names he didn’t recognize, and a few he did. Jeremy Willis had taken his class last fall. Fidgety. Wore headphones too often. But wrote well.

This semester would bring more students. More stories. He would guide them through the frozen landscapes of Russian prose with the patience of a mountain.

And he would keep hot tea by the window. For those who needed it.

PROFESSOR CONAGHER

Teufort University – Engineering Lab A – 5:22 p.m.

Dell set down the wrench, wiped his hands on a rag, and checked the schedule one more time.

Six labs this semester. Three lecture classes. Two incoming research assistants. And a full crop of eager second-years ready to learn how to build things that didn’t explode.

He glanced at Mick Mundy’s file. “Biomedical Engineering” was written in red ink. The kid had a sharp mind, steady hands, and a weird interest in prescieion.

“Just gotta keep him outta the welding shit,” Dell muttered.

Monsieur LeBlanc, or “Spy,” as most students called him under breath or in myth, ran Teufort with unsettling grace. The accent was real. The gaze was not to be met. The rumors were legion.

He had been there since before anyone remembered.

His name appeared in faded cursive on every disciplinary letter and scholarship approval alike. He never attended mixers. He didn’t do orientations. But he saw everything.

That morning, he was watching a silent security feed from Magnus Hall. A slow smile curled beneath his mask.

“Miss Van Acker,” he murmured, eyes narrowing, “and young Mister Willis. Interesting.”

From the desk, a single red folder sat unopened. On the cover: Jeremy Willis – Athletic Scholarship, Conditional. He tapped it once with a gloved hand.

“Let us see what you do with your second year.”

HEAD OF ADMISSIONS: ADMINISTRATOR

Teufort University – Office of Administration – 7:01 p.m.

The Administrator sat at her polished desk, reviewing the enrollment data.

Fresh faces. Transcripts. Disciplinary flags. So many lives, spiraling into another semester of sleepless nights and caffeine-fueled chaos. Her fingers steepled under her chin.

She looked over the names again, the fresh blood.

They were lightning rods, each one of them. Trouble walked where they walked. But it made for interesting transcripts.

The school year had begun.

Sniper: - immune x vampire - you took interest in him first, looking for a feed and on the brink of starvation you come across his lone campervan and give the fly screen door a gentle and unassuming knock - when he opens you're greeted by a shotgun to the face and a man looking, for lack of a better word, absolutely pissed - "who the fuck are you?" the question was short and sweet, clearly he wasn't susceptible to being charmed - you came up with some made up story, whatever it took to get inside that camper so that you could eat - with a cautious look and a loosening of the grip on his gun, he moved aside and with a grunt of acknowledgement, he let you in - you tried to wait until he fell asleep but the man was intent on remaining wide awake, observing your every move, you were starving, your body eating away at itself every passing moment - eventually it became too much, you lunged at him, sinking your teeth into the exposed crook of his neck, attempting to draw something, anything - but there was nothing there, as if some sponge like material blocked your access to his arteries - "im immune to you cunts" he huffs before you're knocked out cold

Spy: - vampire x vampire - spy doesn't turn many people, so when he does it's an act of possession. when he decided to turn you though, it was different - he had planned to eat you from the moment he saw you, plump, ripe, and ready for picking, until you actually spoke to him - your voice drew him in, the concerned gasp that escaped your throat upon noticing how pale and gaunt he looked - the way your soft hand felt against his cool skin as you pulled him inside your apartment - the smell of your bedroom as he forced down the dinner you cooked for him, savouring the bottle of red wine you had so generously provided - he couldn't stop coming back to you, once a week he would come by, relishing in your presence, the thought of sucking your body dry only occurred to him in the ways mortal men ravage their women - and so one night he tells you everything, about how he was going to eat you, about the vampirism, about the genuine love and passion he had grown to hold for you - he extended an offer to you for you to become a vampire - and thankfully you accepted

TF2 GAMEPLAY RANT: I AM A BAD MEDIC AND I WILL NOT SWITCH CLASSES.

subtitle: having fun playing games as a support main with horrible habits

i’ll stick this under a read more since it is literally me going on a full blown rant about gameplay. you can read it if you’d like! i exclusively play medic, i don’t play any other class. and the way i play medic influences the way i write him. so if you want heavily removed source musings of tf2 medic and having fun playing games, feel free to peruse yourself!

you heard it here first folks.

i am a bad medic with about 100 hours on the guy.

i am a chronic overextender with zero movement finesse, i am almost always entirely out of position— if not completely lost on the map as the team’s healer, i will favor power classes with my heals unless i can use a scout as a taxi to get closer to the front lines faster, i will run into the same sniper sightline five times and give the surprised pikachu face when i am headshotted every time before i think to take a different route, i can’t hit a crossbow shot on an enemy or a teammate at point blank, i regularly forget what team i’m on and if i’m not laser focused on spies and spychecking (see: not doing my job as a medic which is to have that medigun out and on at all times) i will die to them every single time.

i am a bad medic.

i just spent the last three hours getting my absolute shit rocked on casual badwater basin, and about thirty minutes to an hour of that getting harassed by a guy— not even on my team, or maybe he was, i don’t know lmao— about how dogshit of a medic i was.

maybe i didn’t heal him enough. i was definitely dying before i could get a full uber nine times out of ten, and i have a horrible habit of running directly into fire on the field, and i cannot time an uber to save my life or my team’s. there was a point where there were four medics on the team and i had to genuinely ask myself damn… am i really that bad of a medic?

we were getting our asses kicked. so bad. it wasn’t even funny.

but here’s the thing: i was having fun.

even with three other medics joining me in the joyless work of healing the team and not dying and popping your uber right when it’s needed and not dying before you get the uber and not wasting the uber (i died so many times with an unused uber bc i didn’t know when to use it to best help the team) and checking your back for their spy running around with the YER not to mention the rest of the enemy team which is for some reason functioning like a well oiled machine while we have taken an active hit to our damage output because we now have four medics—

or maybe i just suck.

but i had fun.

support classes, healing classes in any fps really are for the people like me— who can’t hit a shot and frankly refuse to learn. for the people who don’t want to be directly in the action, because we refuse to learn how to aim on a computer, so we are easy pickings for anyone who has half a braincell and working eyes and minimal carpal tunnel, but close enough to it that we see the carnage. people who cannot reliably toggle through weapons, are trying to learn the maps, can’t jump high enough to even reach some of the places the other mercs are and at this point are too scared to ask.

and it makes me think of the other day, when i hopped on for a few hours and (after dying repeatedly) saw multiple messages through the chat with what i could only think at the time were sarcastic jabs at a medic, there was two at the time and i was the one dying, so you know— if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck…

it’s not been my week on the servers, i think. but i am still having fun.

i love playing medic. i am normally the only or one of two medics on a team at any given time. and i like it that way. and i love having a second, better medic on the team. i try to study them, see how they stay alive so long. it’s hard in the heat of battle. but i’m dead half the time so i’m watching through the killcams anyway. and it looks to be a lot of staying behind corners, standing, crouching, watching, waiting. and that’s… fair.

i just don’t want to play that way.

i love the way i play medic more than i actually want to be strategically good and effective to the maximum extent as a medic.

i love jumping into the heat of the front lines, getting that soldier that’s at 22 as he falls back to reload then quickly moving to the scout at 10 to get him the fuck out of dodge so he can get to a medkit and maybe if i’m fast enough getting to the demo at 64 and taking more damage and dying anyway to the sniper before the payload even reaches the next checkpoint, hearing the ding of the checkpoint captured while i wait to return to the realm of the living. i love getting lost on the maps, standing on an empty edge of the map as the team is yelling for me, and i’m not listening. i love taking in the scenery. i can’t help but laugh when my kamikaze stunt of jumping in puts me in the middle of the enemy team. i love making batshit pushes for intel with two heavies. it is a rush to place myself behind aggressive players and do my best to keep them alive. i screech when we succeed. and i feel as though i am a good sport. if a spy gets me, they got me! that’s on me and my team for not spychecking! we know they exist!

and i like having aggressive and knowledgeable players help me and in extent the team by telling me what to do! i am a support class! i am not supposed to even be on the front lines! tell me when to pop my uber! tell me which way we’re flanking! warn me if you peek the corner first and see the entire team charging at us! i am your doctor! i will throw myself in front of those bullets and die happily if it means you will get those extra hits! i will be back shortly! just don’t die before then! let me know when i’m overextending, when i need to fall back, i want to be a good medic, i want to be the most use to my team i can be!

but i also want to have fun! i just don’t want to learn how to aim!

i am just the healer. and my motto is if you’re taking damage and you’re by the payload or on a point you are my top priority. if my job is to heal you, and we’re on payload, get to the cart, because that’s where i’m headed if i’m not there already. if you want to push for the intel on 2fort even though they have five sentry nests put up but you need a doctor to try to keep three to four of you alive as long as possible to at least bust two of the sentry nests, though you’ll settle for one, i’ll be right behind you each step of the way. and honestly, know that i am a bad medic! my doctorate is in crayon and the syringe gun is for show! i’ve never consensually removed a body part in my life! i’m here to have a good time and die a whole lot doing dumb shit!

and i will not switch to soldier. i will not switch to pyro! i will not switch to a class i don’t want to play, an “easier” class, a “less important” class and leave the team down a doctor entirely in the hopes someone better decides to pick the class! i like to play the medic! i want to play the medic! in fact, i almost like being a bad medic more. anytime someone groans about a bad medic i snicker a bit, and i heal them less.

appreciate the medigun or die without it.

anyway. remember when playing games was fun and people didn’t act like they were getting paid for the shifts they put in on team fortress 2? i initially titled this “medic and spitting in the face of meta to embrace in the arms of theme” because it is essentially what i do. i stomp all over the meta of what it means to play a support class, what it means to be a healer and heal your team to instead do team fortress 2 battle roleplay and giggle the whole time. and again, i acknowledge i am a bad medic. but dammit, people get healed. and when the shit works, it works. and the feeling i get can only be matched if i injected meth directly into my bloodstream and took five bumps of coke. because i like to have fun when i play my sexy german man. i follow the better medics so i can die before them. im like bait for the enemy team. even if i can’t make it to the full uber, what you don’t know is there’s another medic behind me about to pop. but back when i first started playing i was exclusively a battle medic. the medigun never touched my hands. i was just a stock medic running around bonesawing people.

so maybe it truly is old habits dying hard.

and truly, am i that bad if all the medics are averaging the same amount of heals?

like if it’s just me and i average 10k heals, and another medic joins and we both average 5k, and another one joins and we’re each averaging 3-4k; is it the medic sucking caged cock and balls or is the team just not as good as they think they are?

but that’s a rant for another day. i’m gonna stop it here.

anyway. pick a class, and if you like playing it, don’t change. play until you get better.

and if you end up on or against my team, know i’m not gonna be mad if i die to your YER forty times. i also won’t be mad if you take me by my scruff and say i’m your medic. i’ll do my best to stay by your side. don’t die without me.

and if you’re an enemy medic i will never attack you as a medic i’m sorry you will never get your medic on medic fight. all enemy medics get free bottomless kills on max if you can catch me to do so and don’t put yourself out of position in my team.

One of my favorite types of insects to study are parasitoids—I find them fascinating, the way some can infiltrate a host so precisely, timing their development to consume everything except the essential functions, keeping it alive until they’re ready to emerge. I think theres an elegance to that level of biological efficiency. But hey, now I’m just rambling lol, sorry. Autism went too strong.

Personality:

I always have a hard time describing my personality— I consider myself someone who appreciates nuance, i really value the ability to see things from different perspectives, and I have a tendency to reflect on the past.

I have no sense of friendship degradation, I can go weeks, months, nearly a whole year without talking to someone and still consider them my close friend.

I’d also say that I am quite patient? It takes a lot to make me upset, I actually very rarely get truly angry, In general I’m a pretty tolerant person.

Talking wise, I’m pretty quiet, unless I am approached first, that’s not to say I don’t like talking though! I really enjoy listening, talking, and sharing laughs. I do from time to time approach others myself, that is mostly when it is truly necessary though, like to ask an important question.

I often just try to match the energy of whoever I talk to, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t and I will scare them off.

I often take things very literally, and speak using little to no subtext. I’m very bad at taking hints.

currently watching: rewatching our flag means death, i haven't seen season two and need a refresher before diving into that mess. also recently finished severance and colour of magic (tv series, not the book)

currently reading: the illustrated man by ray bradbury and vaulting north by tom mcgregor (novelization of due south's north and vault combined). some others i started but never finished are the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series by douglas adams, i know this much is true by wally lamb, and study for obedience by sarah bernstein. unfortunately i also fall into the habit of starting books and never finishing them, and fanfiction is typically my go-to.

coffee or tea: depends on the coffee and depends on the tea. i'll take the decaf option from either.

current interests: well. sam and max obviously. due south has been simmering in the back of my mind. tf2 is also there, but i haven't stayed up at night thinking about it in a regrettably long time.

currently working on: in terms of drawing, that'd be my sam and max npc lineup, though i tend to hop between projects. i've been rather busy for that, though. in terms of writing, i've got an idea for a due south fix cooking, but who knows if that'll ever be finished. i also have a powerpoint on the complete superball lore that is, as of yet, incomplete.

Other: I have PTSD, so it puts a little strain on me to trust people and new surroundings. I'm fairly early on in the recovery process, so I'm still a bit sensitive to many triggers. When I do get triggered, I tend to isolate myself or listen to loud music. I also take 3-5 business days to get out of bed because I'm an elderly sleepy soul and the bed is just so warm and the world so cruel.

Then he sat alone with you to make sure you weren’t too overwhelmed and had the things you needed to calm back down

long writeup so that hopefully i'm not misunderstood as "copying" other people's artstyles.

Yes, I have been studying NishikujiC's art a lot, and I really adore their artstyle and admire them for their skills. I have a whole folder of their art besides another folder of LC/LoR art that I saved, and I refer to both to study to pick up tips on color and form whenever I decide to draw. I do look at multiple artists whenever I decide to draw something.

My art never used to look like this months ago - it was because of what I learned from studying NishikujiC's art that today I've slowly changed my artstyle to what it is today, and objectively if you ask me it is far more visually appealing than the LC art I used to draw.

NishikujiC's art was and is an inspiration to me in many ways, and studying their work helped me to strengthen my art foundations as I transitioned from drawing more western-style to more asian-style, and now slowly I'm trying to deviate away to something more unique.

People who study art know that artstyles are things we pick up from everything that we see around us - when we aren't on the professional level, we pick a range of artists we want to learn from, and we study how they construct and present their art. Such is not deemed copying, but learning. It is only much later that professional artists prioritise creating their own unique artstyle after they are set in their foundations and after years of learning from other artists.

I am a hobbyist who's given up my childish dream of studying art professionally, which will explain some the possibly odd and unconventional habits I have which understandably fall short of professional expectations. Unfortunately, no, I do not base my studies on 10 or so artists; two or so stood out to me and I decided I would study how they did things. I did not copy NishikujiC - I was inspired by them and it happened that as I was transitioning between fandoms and changing my artstyle to cater more for the LC style, NishikujiC's art stood out to me the most, and therefore I learned the most from them. I am not drawing professionally or even intend to earn money through commissions, hence I find that it is my liberty that I can express what I learned in my art as and how I like hoping that maybe, someone out there liked what I did.

A wip from May 2020 versus a wip from September 2019 and a more rendered image from January 2020 respectively to reinforce my second point. One of the main transitions I've made is moving away from lineart to directly favour painting over sketches to avoid tunnel-visioning on small details, as well as less use of "effect" layers such as multiply and overlay. And my sleeves disobeyed gravity goodness gracious thank you Min for pointing it out when you did

There are hobbyist artists who do choose one artist to have their works largely inspired by, if I may name examples olddivan on tumblr (whom back in my tf2 days I also looked up to a lot, and I still follow them) has their works largely inspired by wachtelspinat; skunkyfly on deviantart has their works largely inspired by kawacy. Both have stated their art inspirations, have reached great heights based on what they have learned from their role models in art, and (correct me if I'm wrong) they are not making money from their art in any way - they are learning and creating art as how and they want to enjoy it.

If I may be so bold to make a statement to all my fellow hobbyist artists - referencing is not copying, choosing to learn mainly from one or two artists is not copying. In the art world, there is a whole debate on what is original and what is not, and so far I have not heard of any definite conclusion. Learn how you want, and make those who have inspired you be proud. Do not be afraid of learning, and do not be afraid of sharing and expressing what you have learned, and may others learn from you and, possibly, be inspired as well.

Side note don't do things like trace art and post it and say it's your work that's outright wrong, I've seen it happen to my artist friends and I absolutely disapprove of it and there are many other examples but you get my point.

Lawrence Eugene Frederick Mundy was born on 14.08. in the Australian Outback. He is the middle child from three children. His sister, Ruby, being the oldest, and his twin-brother, Chris, being the youngest.

(Chris is a reference to Christian Brutal Sniper and Ruby is a reference to Femsniper.)

During his childhood he was always a loner, not having good relations with his father and having problems at school did not help with that. As a way to pass the time, Eugene decided to pick up playing the saxophone when he was 12, and ever since he has kept making music as a pastime hobby.

Eugene has always hated how unfair the school system was, he hoped that one day it would change so that students would actually learn something, instead of unique people all forced to take the same tests that only test your memory. But hey, at least he knows that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell right? He graduated high school when he was 17 and decided not to do a follow up study, but work instead. He worked full-time in a cafe for 5 months until one day a woman in purple approached him.

When he was 13 his aunt took him to her farm to practice with shooting bow and arrow. At the start, he sucked, but his aunt continued to teach him for the span of 5 years. During that time he had also practised with other precision elimination weapons, such as sniper rifles. For his 18th birthday, his aunt gave him her old sniper rifle and a completely new rifle.

A few months after his birthday, a woman in purple dress entered the cafe and specifically asked for Eugene. He took her to the back of the cafe, and she mentioned she had a better, well-paying job for him where he could use his sniper skills way better. He decided to go with her and quit his job on the spot.

6 years pass. Mann Co. is going bankrupt and Eugene and his fellow teammates are forced to quit. Disappointed, he sits out in the centre of the town of Teufort. He remembered how he always wanted to make a change in education, and how he wants to travel the world. He throws a dart at a world map and it lands in The Netherlands. He leaves the next day. He arrives in Utrecht shortly after, and meets a guy about his age who’s studying philosophy and an aspiring teacher as well. He introduces Eugene to the high school he works at and to the principal who offers him a job. Because Eugene never had teacher schooling, the principal only offers him a contract of one year. If she is satisfied with his results, he can stay.

Eugene took this opportunity to educate his students the way he would have wanted it when he was younger, and hopes to give them a better experience at school, by caring for them and understanding them more than his own teachers.

Despite loving his teacher work, he still occasionally takes jobs as hit-man via the deep or dark web.

I’ll talk a bit more about my actual Original Characters first, starting with

Aiko! Otherwise known as Echo

- A marked individual in a steampunk world that gets mixed with magic, because I like both of those things

- Echo runs an underground lab that does helps the underground world with replacing body parts, illegal surgeries etc etc

- Even though she marked, which puts a bounty on her head already, she is well respected by the community for not cheating for your money, stealing your cash, or shanking/killing you mid-surgery

- however, Echo does long for adventure and sometimes do get bored in the lab

oh yeah,, Echo like stealing eyeballs, so if you’re low on cash and wouldn’t mind losing an eye, you know who to call!!

Bonus:

Here’s Echo’s boring, undeveloped sidekick!! I don’t like her and I don’t know how to make her better. Yes, she doesn’t have a name.

tbh, he’s probably the closest character I have to being genderfluid/-neutral? I’m not sure,,

- The god has many powers, from lightning to shapeshifting

However, leaving the land of gods to live among humans aren’t all perks

- Aris isn’t immune to diseases or injuries. In fact, he actually fell down and died on impact when he came to earth, being reborn into another child immediately.

- He doesn’t gain his memories back automatically tho!! He has to have a major shock to the brain in order for him to remember his previous lives

- Sometimes the shock isn’t enough either, when you have a thousand over lives, you won’t remember every single one of them. So forgotten lovers coming back to haunt because your brain hates you? That’s everyday for him!

Up next we got Ayeka Himura! A japanese student going to a neighborhood, but still a pretty good, school living close to poverty due to her father’s constant spending habits and obsession with art supplies. With the household lacking a mother due to wacky shenanigans, Ayeka takes care of her two younger siblings and the house, all while maintaining a very well-paid job and slowly loosing interest in actually studying for a good, honest job.

Neon! A character set in the future utopia of lazy people, where gamers rise up. its the best I can describe her story without getting too deep. She the new hacker on the block, joining the underground gang of elite hackers. She’s another one of those wacky characters that just has fun. Like the actual cast of tf2, there’s barely any real story to him. I only gave him a vague I don’t know my past but hey, i fly really really well. He participated in war unlike certain men but he’s still really nice and will only kill you if you hurt his family. Which he doesn’t know so he just considers the cast his family. He keeps mentioning a wife though, pretty sure he doesn’t have one but you do what makes you happy son.

Isamu Aena! a mp100 oc I made by accident cause idk,, I was thinking about lolita fashion and all of a sudden, the actual oc I was going to make turned into a mob psycho oc. She’s one of my few ocs where her sexuality matters (she’s gay yeah) cause it plays a role in her storyline. She went from being “manipulated”/used to Mob’s wingwomen. She spots out things that can help him in the romantic department cause she’s into romance. A student of the school Mob infiltrated and a fantastic tailor, not to mention a pretty decent pyschic. wait where do models get their lolita stuff from,,

im gonna ignore that and move onto Lillian Yi! Who, i swear i did not meant for it, is very close to lloyd. I mean,, none of the ninjas were with him after s3, who you think he’d meet. Lillian is a survivor from the Great Devourour and yes I’m still pissed LEGO stole my backstory for Lillian to use for Harumi. FUCK YOU LEGO, i still love both of em tho,, The event did leave a big scar and it made Lillian job jumping for a bit, ending at Chen’s Noodles in S6~, where ya know,, stuff got better. She was a medalist for gymnastics and continue the activity, even after her parents’ death, to please others. She was already lost at the time so staying in the sport would help, right? Needless to say, after being rejected at a cop academy for youths, or something similar, she gave up for a while but got back into the idea of saving people by using her skills she already had. It helped with the weight and feelings and meeting the green ninja was a very big bonus. Also Lloyd dubbed her the “mysterious stranger” when she refused to speak in fear of her identity, slight shame, and maybe a bit of being star struck. It helped Lloyd too in a sense where he had something to distract him from Zane’s passing.

 Their relationship was eventually formed, strong and almost unbreakable, except for harumi but uhh thats a different story. Throughout the seasons, they stayed close and lloyd was always comforted by Lillian went times get ruff.

Also Lillian is my most light-hearted characters and I think that says a lot

Then there’s Nite “I don’t want to be your dad”. A character that is supposed to be in the ninjago world but barely interacts with the main story and only stays in his self contained plot. He was supposed to get a bf but uhhh idk. He’s the master of shifting and streams that online, taking out small crimes, and is actually really shy and doesn’t like interacting with people.

Elmaxo - A Leader, Innovator, Inspiration

Elmaxo is a YouTuber from Australia who makes content about the video game Team Fortress 2 (TF2). The game is a first-person shooter with a unique, cartoonish animation style. It was a fairly ground-breaking game and brought a lot of unique ideas and options to class-based shooter games. Elmaxo has risen in the past year to become one of TF2’s biggest content creators and innovators, releasing multiple videos about the game. For context, the game was released in 2007. Still being able to make new and progressive content about the game is credit to both the games longevity and Elmaxo’s creativity. However, Elmaxo has become a leader who inspires me for a reason separate to the game or his videos. Elmaxo began a 100 day challenge on the 19th of June. He set a set of goals that he wished to achieve by the end of the challenge, and has been uploading weekly updates to a second channel as a way to keep himself accountable. In these weekly updates he discusses the progress, which is always motivating to listen to, but also what he’s learnt and read during the week. Part of the challenge was to read a book every week, and the wisdom that he takes and shares with his subscribers has become a part of my week that I look forward to. It’s been extremely inspiring to hear somebody else talk about the extreme changes they’re making in their life, and how much they’re benefitting from them. It’s been especially personal for myself as the start of his 100 day challenge coincided at a time when I was going through a depression. I similarly was looking to make changes in my routine that would encourage better mental health. It’s been fantastic to see Elmaxo achieve his goals through the 100 days and exceed expectations. I also have seen improvement in my physical health, study habits, and general mental health. Moreover, his work ethic has influenced my own in relation to game production. Having somebody to watch as motivation whilst setting my own goals has made Elmaxo a real leader and someone who inspired my own media production.

Quincy Li, the Transformer

Name: Quincy “Qinlin” (aka verdant forest) Li I named him Quincy bc of the visual of Q and bc of the ‘in’ part, not bc Qin sounds anything like Quin lmao

Occupation: mercenary employed by RED (sort of, more in his backstory)

Age: 26 (in 1970 so he’s like... the same age as scout...?)

Height: 5′8″ (standing)

Build: Average. His upper body and core strength is far better than his lower body strength. He is currently still undergoing physical therapy, so he’s working on it. His arms probably get buffer as time goes on simply because of the nature of his disability (paralysis below the knee if thats even a thing lmao either way it has to do with his legs and basically the whole point of his class).

Description: He has fairly standard Chinese features, and his skin is on the tanner side (bc seriously, don’t believe those commercials, far more Asians have darker skin than those vampires you see on TV--his skin tone is actually fairly close to my own). His hair is short, and he generally wears a beanie and fingerless gloves. He usually is found wearing a modified dress shirt with a maroon vest emblazoned with his class logo. He wears a small, stud earring on his left ear.

Habits: Tinkering with things that don’t belong to him. Prone to experimentation with machines, specifically cars and motorcycles. He loves motorcycles bc he can use them to great effect if he mods them a bit to accommodate for his legs. Plus, gotta go fast my dude, and motorcycles are the easiest way for him, a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, to get his fill of adrenaline (plus he’s a speed demon i mean what do you expect, being stuck to a wheelchair all day?). Likes trying to “sneak” around as best he can: it’s a habit he developed since childhood, and is especially a challenge bc of his disability.

Positive traits: Intelligent, confident (in some ways, at least), gives good advice despite not following it on his own

And, of course, an obligatory explanation of what the fuck this lil kid is doing with these hardened mercenaries:

His family was poor, having immigrated legally to the US after the repeal of the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1943 (see I do my history) before having him. His older brother, Chiyang Li (aka “scarlet sun” aka Charlie), worked in a factory to help support Quincy and his mother. His mother is a badass bitch okay, she came to the US by herself, while pregnant and caring for a preschooler (she came literally right before having the baby that is fucking insane she... is a fucking... badass, and remember, she came while she had to take care of Charlie, who was no more than 3-4 years old at the time). His father still lives in China, although he is working on securing a way into the US. Of his family, Quincy is the only one so far with an American passport. 

Quincy’s childhood was difficult, to say the least. His mother worked a laundry business, almost as soon as she was strong enough again to wash clothing. Quincy grew up being cared for primarily by his older brother, who also assisted in his mother’s laundry business. As they got older, Charlie quit high school to work in a local factory (I’m thinking San Leandro--they have all these big-ass warehouses, but idk either way they’re in the Bay Area) to get more money for the family and to put Quincy through college. Throughout grade school, Quincy also faced discrimination from his classmates for being the “weird Asian kid”. Although he was never severely bullied for a long span of time, the other children at the school did not like him very much since he was different. When he first entered school, he did not know a single word of English, and had to learn on the fly (since his mother and brother spoke Mandarin Chinese at home).

During elementary school, a group of children decided one day to act on the racist stereotypes that many of them had grown up with. Along with the end of WWII, there was plenty of resentment towards those with Asian features. They were nasty, and all around horrible, but never threatened Quincy’s safety until they one day tried to break his legs and feet after teasing, mostly about women breaking and binding their feet, went too far (keep in mind, this was before Quincy realized he was trans, so his mother was dressing him in feminine clothing and hairstyles). They were successful, needless to say, and Quincy ended up with broken feet and lower legs that never healed correctly because his family could not afford to take him to a hospital. He still had to attend school the next day, with Charlie helping him to and from class. Eventually, Charlie and his mother managed to put together enough funds to find a wheelchair for Quincy before the end of that schoolyear. Since then, Quincy has been unable to walk without assistance, especially since that, without proper medical attention, his feet were permanently damaged (he does, however, eventually begin physical therapy, but that’s only after he earned money bc he joined RED).

At first, he was ashamed of himself. He felt odd and out of place, for more reasons than one. His body felt like more of an impairment than anything, especially with growing issues like... literally growing up with a body that didn’t match how he felt. Things like cars fascinated him, even though girls his age were encouraged to play with dolls and tea sets. He just wasn’t interested, and was more interested in playing cars with the other boys his age. In middle school, he began learning about cars and engines, and became fascinated by the idea of mechanical engineering, including space travel, having heard of the launch of Sputnik when he was 13. In high school, he began to study mechanical engineering in earnest, and started to see his wheelchair as more of an opportunity than an impairment. He began experimenting on it, adding things like controls and improving the efficiency of the wheels. Charlie supported him by taking him to the junkyard to try and find scrap materials.

In terms of being trans, he came out to his family at the beginning of high school after he refused to wear the female school uniform (bc I guess he attended one of those schools TM). His brother supported him, even though he didn’t really get it. His mother took a little longer to come around, and still has yet to fully accept/understand Quincy’s identity in the present time (1970). At the end of the day, it was Charlie who prepared Quincy the best and supported him in nearly everything, and that’s Quincy’s motive in joining Mann Co. They paid well, they asked no questions, and they promised him a job for a long time.

By the time Quincy graduated college, he had heavily customized the wheelchair (although not to the extent of his time at Mann Co, not yet). He had increased the efficiency of the wheels, created a custom steering system, as well as a get-out-of-jail-free engine thing, although at this point he still needed to manually wheel himself forward most of the time. It was because of this innovation, coupled with his impressive understanding of mechanical engineering demonstrated in college, that Redmond approached him halfway through his time at grad school and offered him a position at RED as the Transformer. He saw Quincy’s potential, and wanted to get a leg up on his brother, Blutarch (of course), and wanted to try investing in college students so he could guarantee a future for when the previous mercenaries retire (or some bs like that tbh i haven’t really thought this through...). He also thought that college students were easier to find and hire, and could therefore learn from the existing classes (or something of the sort). Since Engineer was the closest in profession to Quincy, Engie was sent to teach him (for now, it’ll just be a generic RED Engie that I’ll write on my own although other engies feel free to adopt my small nerdy boy), so Quincy finished his degree while working under RED. He also worked together with Engie to build his current wheelchair, which can transform into 3 forms (similar to how vaccinator can defend against 3 types of damage). The three forms are “Carp”, “Hare”,  and “Bull” (support, offense, and defense in order). They change his ability set (Carp gives him movement speed, hare gives him a charge, and bull gives him hp). It takes 5 seconds to go between forms bc the wheelchair needs to transform itself. He spawns in Carp form. He also has various weapons given to him by Mann Co to compliment his forms, although his loadout is meant to buff certain forms and nerf others (yadda yadda i’ll talk more about his mechanics later).

He is, however, horrified by the everyday violence, and its... Probably factored a lot into his preexisting PTSD stemming from what happened in his childhood. (After being separated from his wheelchair once and being unable to do anything for the rest of the battle until he went through respawn again, Quincy asked Engie to connect his life in Respawn to his wheelchair, so he would never feel the fear of being stranded with no mobility again... It was a bad time :( very angst. He’d rather go through respawn with his wheelchair than feel vulnerable like that again).

I’m gonna continue playing Mass Effect, and also get back into the habit of playing StarCraft II and TF2, maybe even on the TV instead of in my room (there is an HDMI cable we constantly keep hooked up to it for just such a thing), and ALSO play a ton of other PS3 games I’ve got like Persona 5 (yes, there’s a PS3 version of Persona 5, and it’s exactly the same except the online mechanics are way less powerful since the PS3 controller doesn’t have a touchpad like the PS4 controller does, which to me is kinda proof that new consoles aren’t... really much better than old consoles, at least when it comes to the non-Nintendo ones...), and maybe figure out how to screenshare my PS Vita to the TV so I can play Persona 4 Golden. And I’ll try to get further in my Pokemon marathon that I haven’t touched in a couple weeks due to battery limitations. Maybe finish the Fire Emblem Fates and Rune Factory 4 playthroughs I started in December that got put on pause when I switched to Linux. The point is, I’m gonna play a lot of video games, and I’m gonna do it as publicly as possible (because I like sharing my gaming with my family- even once I do eventually switch over to playing Mass Effect on the PC, I’m gonna try and hook my computer up to the TV as much as possible when I do)
