So, I couldn’t actually remember what kiss scenes I’d already written, and I’ve not written anything of substance for a little while again, so I wrote these for this – I’ve done a fanfiction one as well – I hope that’s alright. Thanks for the tag @darknightfrombeyond. This is using characters from my Supernatural-Crime Story.
Hal had been on plenty of dates before. He’d finished evenings in so many different ways he thought, flippantly, that he was something of an expert. He could tell if his date wanted the night to continue; if they wanted to part ways before anybody caught sight of them. He’d even ended a few nights simply because he knew the whole affair had been so they had an interesting story to tell at the next social gathering, and simply didn’t know how to tell him that.
And yet, as he stood on Brad’s doorstep he found himself helplessly lost. Deep down, his own desire purred to continue the evening. His heart knew better, forced him to let Brad make this choice. Some terrified part of him screamed to run, scared that the whole perfect evening was an elaborate trap. It was the voice that had only awoken since his ordeal, and one he tried desperately to ignore.
‘Well that was –’
‘Do you want –?’
Hal and Brad spoke together, their voices fading quickly. Colour rose to Brad’s cheeks; he ran an awkward hand over his tight curls. Hal’s heart skipped a beat, but he nodded for the other man to continue.
‘Do you want to come in?’
Desperately Hal wanted to accept the invitation, but that little fearful voice refused to be ignored.
Brad’s expression softened ever so slightly from the unbridled joy he’d worn moments before.
‘I get it,’ he whispered, voice filled with an understanding Hal hadn’t expected. ‘Maybe another time?’
‘Yes,’ Hal burst out, a breath of relief caught behind the word. He didn’t even pause to fully appreciate the smile on Brad’s face before he gently pulled him closer by the lapels. Hal pressed a soft kiss against his lips, lingering only long enough for Brad to respond with a longing kiss of his own, before he pulled away, still gripping his lapels. ‘I’d like that.’
Prince Hal was used to the pressures of his position, even if his best friends always kept him grounded. He was used to people threatening him, used to sitting through torturously boring meetings and training that could supposedly save his life if the worst ever happened. What he never expected was for an evening outside of the palace, outside the safety that he was wrapped in inside his own realm, to turn into something he never could have prepared for. Something that might just squash the light he tries to see in the world.
For as long as she could remember, Esme had always had trouble with magic. People around her seemed to specialise as easy as breathing, and yet she struggled. But a chance meeting made her realise it wasn’t that she hadn’t specialised, it was just her magic was that much harder to control than the people around her. Soon, Esme finds herself learning about the almost forgotten Old Magic, and the political implications that controlling this might just bring to the fore. With tensions rising between Enchanteds and Non-Enchanteds, Esme learning to control her power has never been more important.
Hector had thought that being a detective without the added political and varied implications of Enchanteds crimes would be easier. But, when Hector comes face-to-face with a crime scene that has subtle hints of magic about it, he has to try figuring out how to make the whole thing seem normal for the people around him, and how exactly to bring justice to the victim. One victim is an accident, though; two Enchanted victims could be the start of a pattern, one he can’t fully explain to the people he’s meant to trust the most.
Washed out detective Brennan ‘Buck’ Harlan meets his future partner in crime after nearly hitting her with his car as she’s escaping from a mysterious killer currently on the loose in the TAGS PROJECTS.
If I had a nickel for everytime an ex buzzfeed worker did something really questionable for their career that’d make people hate them I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice right
Person A is the eldest child of a powerful crime family and expects to inherit, until their told by their parent, who is the current head, that due to a deal they made with a demon, Person B, to ensure the government and other crime families didn’t wipe them out, that Person A must marry Person B and one of their younger siblings will take over the role of head when their parent passes. Person A is furious to have their spot taken from them and to be used as a pawn, but when they meet Person B for the first time, Person B offers to gift Person A the head seat if they so desire it, through any means necessary.
hello you wrote a fanfic where Tims teacher was failing him on purpose to send him into a spiral of self doubt where in a moment of 'i can fix this' (This being his grade) he followed his teacher into his car and nearly got killed, and I find myself LOVING the mystery behind the teacher and like how he almost sucseeded and stuff and I think it would be interesting if I could read a full 50 chapter book of that so I was wondering if I could borrow the idea of a fanfic of my own?
Hello anon! So glad you enjoyed OCLAL! :) Fun fact, the idea of a murder mystery with a teacher going after students was totally inspired by the anime Erased (sorry for spoilers! still a fantastic watch tho imo). Super sweet of you to ask for permission on this idea, even if that element of it is not from my noggin originally but STILL! I'm a big believer in, as a writer, being inspired by other works in order to craft a story of your own that you personally find fun (so long as it's not direct stealing, of course), especially in fanfiction where there's not any money involved. If you do write something, feel free to share it with me bc, obviously, I love the idea too! Have fun!
TL;DR: thank you and yeah, go for it! happy writing!
jam i have a question. who is eliot spencer... where is he from. what makes him ur number one blorbo and what do u understand abt him that no one else does <3
partridge thank you so much for this ask i need you to know you made my entire morning. eliot spencer is. my specialest guy my blorbo of all time i love him so so so so much. he's from the tv show leverage, which aired from 2008-2012* and isn't immune to the downfalls of that era of tv in general but that. honestly does a comparatively outstanding job to ME. it holds up and also the premise is "what if these extremely competent hot thieves ruined shitty rich people's lives and helped the people who'd been victimized by the rich people and created a found family together after all having various levels of sad backstory? and there was an ot3 made as canon as the showrunners could possibly make it in 2012?" i'm getting ahead of myself though.
*there's a sequel currently airing but i have yet to watch it & there's certain aspects about it that i refuse to accept as canon (this is a part of me being the most right about eliot)
i am putting this under the cut because. well. this got long
to start with context. having my brain rewired by supernatural and captain america: the winter soldier when i was a teenager is a huge factor in like. *waves hands vaguely* everything. when it comes to how i came to love leverage and eliot specifically. i got driven away from spn because (to simplify things) the showrunners hated the fans so bad and the characters were fighting the narrative but unable to escape it, and i loved the version of the characters that was actively being opposed by the show. and that was just plain not enjoyable for me. and marvel is marvel and continuity of emotional and interpersonal arcs doesn't matter at all to them.
and the thing is i took a sociology class in 2017 and it was making me so upset learning about white collar crime. and @canis-la-trans was like. we are watching leverage now. to remedy this. and i'd tried watching it with him before but this time around it just clicked. and the biggest part of what clicked is eliot. because listen. eliot is in somewhat of the same category as my earlier favorite characters but the thing about eliot spencer is that all of his best qualities are canon, not fanon. he redefines the category. he's incomprable. to me.
the thing about eliot spencer is he's the punchboy. he's the hitter. it's his job to get in the fights and protect the team. and he does his best to come across as grumpy, as not caring about people, does his best to fly under the radar as just another unintelligent lackey with a short temper who's particularly talented at violence.
but that's a performance. canonically that's a performance. and he has the best work/life separation of the whole team. he's not his job - he's very good at his job, and it's what he does and that is a part of him, but where some of the other characters view their job as an extension of their selfhood, eliot doesn't.
he cooks. he cooks so well that he could do that professionally. he grows all his own produce (allegedly). he's one of if not the best person on the team with kids. he loves so wholly so fast. he's the first person to call the team a we. within team dynamics he & sophie, the grifter, protect the other 2 from the worst of the team leader's dysfunction.
eliot's done bad things in the past. and he views himself completely past saving. like. from commentary on the show: he knows he's going to hell. like. his self worth is completely abysmal. i know he would die for the team. in s2e2 there's an episode where the team isn't succeeding at the con, and he takes the fall on purpose. and in a conversation about that he says "i'm not diving on a grenade. i'll be all right" but he says that so readily that i Know he's thought about it. and he would. for the team he would. for parker and hardison he would. he's in love with them. and they're in love with him too and i have to cut myself off or i'll go an entire separate rant about them!!!!
he has long hair. which he straightens. and he looks great with blood on his face. he doesn't use guns. he never throws the con for personal reasons - only ever does to protect kids. he grew up in rural oklahoma and he enlisted to get the hell out of dodge and he got in such a bad argument with his dad the night before he shipped out that he got disowned. and he can't even talk about it until nearly the end of the final season of the show. he never once mentions his mom. and i just know he got disowned for coming out, intentionally or not. he's never had an environment he could be his full self in without fear until the team.
parker, the thief of the team, is intentionally written as autistic; the hacker, hardison, is so likely written to have adhd. and eliot is autistic too, to me. it makes the level of performing masculinity to closet himself so much more insane to me. bc it's also masking. and adding that context to eliot and parker's relationship makes me unWELL.
the thing is is that eliot is a character who's hiding, who's actively doing his best to be unnoticed. and so many people who watch the show fall for the act, even if they don't fall for the whole act they fall for parts of it, and like. They Are Wrong About Him. i have an entire complex backstory thought up for eliot, because i think the only thing sadder than him missing out on the kind of connection he finds with the team is him knowing what he's missing because he had a queer best friend as a kid, & the two of them were closeted together, but he lost contact with her over the years.
the thing is that eliot spencer has SO MUCH GENDER and i know if he and parker and hardison adopted a kid eliot would be ma. never dad. and i don't think he'd even be able to start exploring that for himself until the end of the series.
the thing is eliot spencer would listen to the mountain goats. and there's a couple other people out there who are right about that and it makes me so insane 100% of the time.
and i love him and this is just a list of facts about him and the most important thing about eliot spencer to me is that. he exists in motion. trying to capture a still image or static description in words never works. but he's my wife and i love him so much. and i always will. and i'm writing a fic where i'm going to blow him up. just a little bit. for his own good. this is my "eliot made himself a mountain goats mix tape about knowing he's willing to jump on a bomb for parker and hardison & never telling them that in advance" playlist from that universe.
all of leverage is availible for free streaming on imdb tv & here are thee best leverage fanvids of all time:

Mr. Ballen in his video: There's an abandoned town in the remote part of Alaska known as Portlock.
Me who's watching: Oh? I've never heard of this!
Mr. Ballen: The town had a promising future in the fish canning industry however very shortly after business started booming and people had become settled into the town strange occurrences began happening.
Me: ??
Mr. Ballen: People started to go missing when they entered the forests surrounding the town, and mutilated bodies were found in the lagoon beside it as well. The people believed that they were at first animal attacks however Native Alaskans were quick to step forward and explain that they were not animal attacks. But instead they were the work of large, hairy creatures that stood on two legs who lived in the forests surrounding the town.
Me starting to sweat: Oh god it's one of those stories......
Mr. Ballen after explaining a few accounts: After dealing with this for so long the townspeople finally had enough. In the span of one night everyone had evacuated the area, save for the post man who had to stay till the government came down to close it down. The post man stated in his reports that it was awful, every night he'd see large creatures moving in the treeline and howls in the night. He was glad to leave. Now due to all of this most existing pictures of Portlock are incredibly old, since no one ever goes there. Those who did quickly left asap and thus there's no real modern photos of the town, save for one.
Mr. Ballen shows a photo of a lone building surrounded by a thick forest and a murky lagoon: This is one of the remaining buildings that haven't crumbled from nature over the years, surrounding it is the very same woods that the young men who lived in the town had vanished in and the very same lagoon were dozens of bodies had been discovered. Anyways! That's all for today if you liked this video please-
Me pulling out a list: Places to avoid at all costs. Portlock, Alaska. Got it.
Whenever I listen to spooky podcast episodes I have to listen to a regular true crime episode after. Because for some reason ghosts or other supernatural stuff scares me but a regular murder? Phew, I’m fine with that.

‘Watch me,’ Esme said simply, keeping her attention out across the water rather than daring to look at Poppy. She couldn’t face the kindness that would be obvious behind her eyes. Couldn’t stand the understanding because deep down she knew the old lady understood what this particular taste of betrayal was like.
‘Esme –’
‘Please.’ The simple word came out closer to a sob than Esme would have liked. It sounded too brittle. Made her feel weaker than simply not being in better control of her magic already did.
‘No,’ Poppy said simply. ‘I’m not leaving you alone to wallow, nor to take the brunt of this alone.’
Esme turned then, watched as Poppy carefully crouched and eased herself to sit on the forest floor beside her. Instinctively, she put an arm out, but Poppy whacked her arm away, an affectionate little smile on her lips.
Once she was settled, Esme dropped her head onto her shoulder. She might not have wanted company, but she couldn’t push her mentor away now.
‘You two are more different than you realise,’ Poppy said softly, voice quiet enough that Esme wasn’t sure if she was supposed to have heard the words or not. ‘Not just because of how easy the magic comes to you.’
Esme nodded, felt the sting of tears creeping up the back of her throat. She just hoped that Poppy was right. That the magic was really the only thing she ever had in common with Elias, that that wasn’t the thing that had made him snap.
something something the villain of the season (the one about how fear can give way to extremism if you're not careful and how easy it is for many, many people to become radicalized by one person's radical hate and how genocide is a bad thing actually regardless of whether individuals of the targeted group have themselves done terrible things) being a black woman who survived an incident of indiscriminate mass murder is perhaps. not the best idea considering the themes involved
