EDIT: Okay I know this isn't obvious but it needs to be said, Netflix Maria uses the design of 12 year old Maria, but she's actually 16. SOTN Maria is 17, which makes her a year older than Netflix Maria. If there was a 5 year time skip in the show, that would make Maria 21.

kinda don't like it when people say that before recording technology, people could only hear music when it was performed live and after that it was gone forever.... like okay sure. i understand. many people can't play instruments and wouldn't be able to listen to like a string quartet or something, but people can very much sing to and with each other and have been doing so since forever. i very much get what people mean when they say that, but i feel like maybe its conveniently forgetting folk music and people singing together for fun. they didn't even have to be professionals dude. humans just sing for fun. together. very often. since forever. idk.

RGHHH I TYPED OUT AN ANSWER TO THIS BUT I WAS AT AN EVENT AND TUMBLR DELETED MY RESPONSE-

okay so. everyone works at the pizzaplex, but only Sun, Moon, and Lunar are related. Earth recently arrives to the plex and is given charge of a performance to boost revenue for the theatre; the daycare department isn't making enough profit to justify the money poured in, and management is threatening to shut it down in a few months if it doesn't improve.

The creator just so happens to have a studio rented out (how convenient...), and Earth calls up all the other animatronics in their department to join in and help with setting up an orchestral performance (fun fact: all of them have theatre capabilities programmed into their base code, so they all have the ability to perform and play instruments!), which they do, albeit reluctantly. Finding recruits is fairly difficult considering there are no human staff and only 5 animatronics, but they make do and ask folks from other divisions to pitch in as well.

(Solar and Eclipse do exist in this au, but their backgrounds are a bit...different from the cannon security breach shows.)

It's strange being in a fandom so long that you see things that used to be common knowledge get lost to the sands of time.

Like Twilight Princess has started experiencing the Zelda Cycle in reverse which rip, so there's been a lot of 'in defense of Twilight Princess' videos on YT recently. And something I'm seeing most of them say is "yeah it would've been better if they orchestrated the music, and they should have."

Which is absolutely baffling to me. That was one of the big things about Twilight Princess when it came out. They tried to have the soundtrack orchestrated. They wanted it orchestrated but they were told no. That's why Skyward Sword was such a big deal! Skyward Sword did get the orchestra. They said they finally achieved the dream they've had since TP by having the soundtrack orchestrated.

It's so wild to see that knowledge forgotten.
