Decent capture of this show. Whenever Terry Mann is on stage it's a fancam. The first 20 minutes are completely blindly filmed so i defaulted to wideshotting most of it. Due to usher activity a lot of the show is shot this way, whenever he left i could zoom and such, second big issue with this video is the obstruction. The people in front of me never stopped moving and they kept getting into my shot constantly so there is a lot of obstruction that i try my absolute best to avoid.Some washout, shakiness and readjusting throughout.

Eighteen Years Old

Molly got me concert tickets to Niall Horan on my eighteenth birthday. I was over the moon. Since I was ten, I’d considered myself a Directioner, and the year I turned thirteen, I had my first celebrity crush. Harry Styles, one of the One Direction members, was destined to be my boyfriend someday in the future, no questions asked.

I got over it. Eventually. When Molly accompanied me to one of their last concerts before they split up, it was more important to sing along and enjoy the music than to pine for the darkhaired young Brit.

Niall, who was a previous member of One Direction, had sold out all his concerts in the UK, and I and my two friends, Leyla and Clare, had tried but failed to get tickets. And now, I suddenly had three of them in my hands.

“Molly! I don’t know how to thank you enough,” I exclaimed and hugged her hard and long. “How did you…”

“Shush now. I have my…sources,” Molly said and winked at me. “Give the girls a call and tell them the good news.”

Papa tried to insist that one of uncle Myc’s chauffeurs could drive us to the O2, where the concert was to be held, but Dad and I managed to make him see sense.

“I ride the tube almost every day, Papa. The Jubilee Line will take us straight to North Greenwich station, and then we’re practically there. We can’t always make use of uncle’s privileges, you know. It would be embarrassing and attract too much attention as well if three ordinary girls turned up in a…”

“Nothing ordinary about…” Papa interrupted me, while Dad interrupted Papa with a stern voice calling his name, and that was the end of it.

Molly had procured us with great Inner Circle tickets and early entry. It must’ve cost her a fortune, and I kept wondering who this source of hers was. (Not that I didn’t have my suspicions.)

With money my grandparents had gifted me, I bought merch. A t-shirt, a few bracelets and a key lanyard.

The concert was brilliant, and luckily, we were already on our way out of the venue when a group of girls started to fight amongst each other over a signed poster of Niall. It got ugly quite quickly. A nail file was put to good use, blood flooded, and hysterical teenagers were running to the tube station.

My phone vibrated in the back pocket of my jeans. A text.

Walk to the parking lot by the Aurora Tower. I will have a car waiting for the three of you. UM.

Clare had started to get a bit freaked out by the crowd pushing on us, and she sighed relieved when I told her and Leyla that we should walk in the opposite direction to be picked up by my uncle, Anthea or just a driver.

“Your uncle is just brilliant, Ro,” Leyla stated. “How did he know? This just happened minutes ago. I’m sure it hasn’t reached the news yet.”

“Not the ordinary news,” I agreed without elaborating further.

When I spotted the car, another text arrived.

Ferguson will be driving you. He already knows Ms. Aldershot and Ms. Carson’s addresses. I hope you had a good time. UM.

Brian jumped when he heard his girlfriend squeal as they were walking between the many market stalls. It was a particularly humid day and they decided to make the most of it. Brian knew she wasn’t hurt, since they’d been dating for a while, he was aware of the differences between the noises she made when she was happy, sad, hungry or mad.

“Bri look,” she tugged on her hand and his gaze followed hers to a bracelet stall. A woman sat extending her hands to showcase the variation of colours, beads and threads. “It’s only 20 bucks for two, we could match. And there’s a magnet to link it together.”

The woman grinned as she awaited his response and judging from the pout on Carson’s face, he wasn’t going to say no.

“Alright, we’ll take two,” he grinned at the excitement flooding his girlfriend’s face. They had time to waste before they went back to Dom’s where another party was being thrown. “Pink and white for her and Blue and white for me.”

“Aww you guessed correctly,” Carson pressed a kiss to his cheek.

The girl loved pink.

The woman was quick to ask, “What are your initials?”

“C,” Brian motioned at the Baker racer, then pointed to himself, “B.”

The woman nodded at the couple and started on her work. She gathered the shades of pink, then added white and threaded them onto half of the matching bracelet, topped it off with the Carson’s initial, before doing the same to Brian’s with blue and white.

5 minutes later, Brian was pulling out a 20-dollar bill, thanking the woman who happily handed over the bracelets.

“Enjoy,” she said, content with her sale.

Brian helped Carson put hers on without question, “Yeah, it’s tight.”

“Blue is your colour,” Carson then helped him, ecstatic with how they looked and complimented their outfits. Of course, she was already wearing pink and he was sporting a navy blue t-shirt and some jeans. “Baby look.”

The magnets pulled on each other, forcing each half of the bracelet to collide, forming a small star and putting a smile on their faces.

Carson happily squealed and kissed him.

“Come on let’s bounce, everyone has to see these,” she couldn’t wait to show them off to the group.

Brian was slightly more apprehensive.

“You know the guys are gonna tease me for this?” He said, snaking his arm around her neck as they started walking through the market stalls again.

“Well you can either be teased for this, or you can not wear it and not get any for a week,” she pondered, knowing it was getting under his skin.

His eyes widened, “Hey, I never said I didn’t like it.”

“Yeah yeah,” she playfully rolled her eyes, as she smiled at the bracelet, “Thank you again.”

“You want something, I’ll make sure to get it for you. No matter what.”

She giggled, “I know, I love that.”

“I know you do, now let’s go for a drive.”

Jeff Whitman as...

1917's Carver double. His name might not fit but I can work around that(Carver descendant, adopted by loving stepfather), he is approximately the right age to be C for the era, beautifully illustrated in @delurkr's 1917 little hope artworks(T/D/J/M/A-f/A-m) which didn't include a carver double at the time and since the addition of tdim Jeff has been worked into the reincarnation cycle lore.

In this timeline Jeff lives but loses Marie which is in line with Carver lossing Madeline and that being the starting point for the descent into villainy, recall that it's only two years since and Reverend Carver had been a much more gracious man, even evidently being fully behind "He who is without sin cast the first stone" and that the lose of his wife was the catalyst for the man he'd become and this "evil Jeff" is more or less following the pattern as an "what would have happened had fate not been subverted" and because fate was subverted C was Shattered in the cycle and this is why there's a lot of him from the Midcentury era on, the powers that be made Carson but also Abe White and private Cooper who are the same age despite being shown at an earlier point(the back ups died basically)

Marie's necklace as a very visible attachment to her memory, especially given that they were married for one day and he's lived longer without her. It shows a deep inability to let go and how being hardened by time rather than healed leads to his callousness that he could not have imagined before with this speculative villain arc, all in all dying at the same time in this context would prevent his negative character arc that would occur over the following decades

1858 Carvers

Continuing with my Tilly Johnson era of doubles, here is Solomon Carver, owner of Ravenden factory, and his wife Mona Carver. Solomon is the double of the canon Carvers and Leonard Carson, and Mona is built off the idea of Simon's wife Madeleine who was kidnapped in 1690.

Starting with Mona - Her face is based on the Julia model (basically because Marie Whitman in TDiM happens to be a Julia model and is married to Jeff who's a Carver model) and I tried to age her up a bit and borrowed from Marie's and Julia's outfits for her design:

Pink with knotted trim reminiscent of Julia's pink knotted t-shirt

Her brooch is a landscape painting similar to that t-shirt's graphic (minus the surfer ofc lol)

Her net overlay is inspired by Julia's black top with the openwork design

Blue belt and white (under)sleeves similar to Marie's

No hat because I didn't wanna. A hat would have been required but I have my priorities (curly hair✨), but she does have gloves, which are the random yellow color that was a thing in the mid-1800s

Solomon -

Black because he's in mourning. Mona dies in 1858 and his father was murdered by his evil son died some time before, so mourning is his vibe

Super wide hatband as was customary when a man was mourning his wife

His watch chain is made out of Mona's hair. He cares about her death to some degree so I thought it would be interesting. (Hair jewelry was a thing in the 1800s, not always because the person was dead)

Fancy cane is fancy. It's made out of wood and whalebone, because the whaling industry in the 1800s was centered nearby on the Massachusetts coast and a lot of crafty whalebone products came out of that

Also I don't know how tall the C's are supposed to be but in my mind Mona is tiny so that's where the height difference comes from 😁

4: Art and Interpretation

My stick figures are abysmal, and birds (metaphorically) die when I sing. I am not the right person to capture lush ecosystems with paint or compose a song about school children who died in cold water. But I am a storyteller and creative writer, and I can interpret nature through that art form.

Environmental advocacy zine making workshop I hosted at my summer job

I am particularly inspired by our textbook’s suggestion that nature interpreters engage their audiences through drama performances. As a community theatre volunteer and improv performer, the idea of adding an additional dimension of interpretation to this excites me. My Bachelor of Arts and Science minors are in ecology and creative writing, and bringing those subjects together through nature interpretation is a logical progression.

The first person that comes to mind when I think of writing and nature interpretation is Rachel Carson. While she is best known for her book Silent Spring, I think it would best be described as science communication. However, her essay Helping Your Child to Wonder provides an excellent description of the ways nature interpretation can benefit both the interpreter and their audience (in this case, her 4-year-old nephew). Particularly, she discusses how beauty can lead to curiosity.

She writes

“Once the emotions have been aroused— a sense of the beautiful, the excitement of the new and the unknown, a feeling of sympathy, pity, admiration or love— then we wish for knowledge about the object of our emotional repose. Once found, it has lasting meaning”

I think reading this piece inspired and influenced how I interpret the “gift of beauty.” Beauty has an emotional impact on us, one that can sustain itself for far longer than memorizing a few facts. Beauty makes us care.

There are so many ways to find beauty in nature. Things that might seem ugly or odd at first can reveal themselves to have startling quirks and charms if you take the time to know them. Take, for example, Ceratophaga vicinella, which is a rare species of moth endemic to Florida.

They feed on dead gopher tortoise shells as larvae and are in decline alongside those tortoises. They are overlooked by most people but have immense beauty to those who take the time to study them.

“Surely an oddity such as C. vicinella cannot simply be allowed to vanish. We should speak up on behalf of this little moth, not only because by so doing we would bolster conservation efforts now underway in Florida, but because we would be calling attention to the existence of a species that is so infinitely worth knowing” write the authors of a paper published on the moths in 2005.

The gift of beauty allows us to appreciate the aspects of nature that are so “infinitely worth knowing.” It gives us incentive to learn about, care for, and appreciate the more-than-human world around us.
