Summary: A few decades into Gilead’s conception, you head into your first posting as a handmaid after an affair with a guardian landed you in trouble. Determined to keep your head low in order to keep your son safe, you take on the moniker of OfJoel. Commander Miller has very little to do with you and mrs. Miller regards you with disgust, however you find solace in an unlikely friendship with Commander Miller’s daughter from a handmaid 14 years ago, Ellie who just got done with wives school. You and your friend, Ofthomas start teacher her and her friend Reilly under her mothers nose. Slowly, Commander Miller begins spending time with you and you begin to learn more about the man he was before and an affair begins outside the confines of the ceremony. Although initially you go along with it out if survival, you find yourself falling for the version of Joel you saw in these late night rendezvous.

Which Joel is really him, and how will he react when his own daughters secrets are revealed?

Although no violent rape happens like in TWW, reader is under systemic misogyny and a society of ritualized sex abuse. Everything other than the violent rape scenes, everything that happen in either The Handmaids Tale book or show are liable to happen here including but not limited to discussion of rape, child abuse, child marriage, ritualized sexual abuse, sexual abuse in general, acts of violence, major character deaths, mentions of miscarriage but never shown and never pregnancies we know of. Big ole homophobia warning, specifically in regards to lesbophobia. As for Joel, PIV sex, breeding kink, degrading (slut, whore etc but thing like Raider!joel) forced breeding and breeding kink, power dynamics, Joel is not the good guy but he’s also not the worst, slightly rough sex but not violent. Cucking, reader cucks joel's wife, is dark, participates in non con.

Warnings are liable to be added as the story goes but I’ll always update. As always if I miss something please tell me, but i extensively label my warnings and in the end media consumption is your own choice. If you would like to know if this is a happy ending or not you can message me and I’ll tell you that way I don’t spoil for everyone but you can decide if this is for you.

Immersability: Reader has long hair, can conceive children theoretically. At one point, she has to pose as Ellie's mother and I know this can be loaded in terms of skin tone. I am no genetics expert but I know dark skinned parents can have white passing children, like Lional Richie and Nicle Richie. It's up to you to see if this is going to take you out of the story or not.

Whether you ship him platonically or romantically with another character,, we welcome you to join our event! Please read the event’s rules before you join, much appreciated! You'll find them below.

We’ve also got a server. If you’re interested just message to this blog and we’ll answer your questions and then get you an invite. When does the event take place? It begins January 1, 2024 and ends on December 31, 2024.

Which universes are allowed? American Alien, Crime Syndicate, DCAU, DCEU, Elseworlds (e.g. Distant Fires),  Injustice, Justice Lords, New 52, Post Crisis, Rebirth, Young Justice, etc. Wikipedia mentions other Superman universes.

How Can I Join? That’s easy! Once you’ve had a gander at the prompts you can then create content to be posted on the day’s you’ve set your sights on. There happens to be three different prompts for each of the 365-366 days of the year. You may choose only one, but you’re more than welcome to do all three. That is entirely up to you. Furthermore, you really don’t have to join for each day. That’d be way too much, but kudos to you if you somehow manage it. Still, this is just for fun, so no stress, no rush, and please enjoy yourself!

RULES 01. All fanwork types are acceptable. This includes not only fanfiction and fanart, but also gifs, graphics, fanvideos, speed paints, podcasts, meta, essays, sims recordings, and cosplay. All works however must be finished. Please do not post sketches or drafts, thank you!

episode 1.01 re-read reax

Fav scene: I love a tableau! The first intro of the techies on the stairs is even more fun the second time around.

Fav performance: Riley singing Your Song, so soft.

Fav character: Zay was a stand out for his friendliness, but Isa takes the top spot this episode because I love how much we can already see about her from limited screen time and exposition. The way she was talking with Lucas in the first part of the episode shows us that they're serious and also very close. The way she takes control of the stage without any performance, she's doing her own thing and still commands a room. The fact that she tries to stop Lucas from doing the fire alarm thing shows how she cares. And yeah maybe I'm just super excited because I know how much she grows this season.

Fav line: "but also showing off his capacity to be obnoxious."

Underrated moment: Dave asking how he can get a song cannon lmao

Something I missed: Zay and Charlie often parallel each other in scenes, usually if one is mentioned then the next line is about what the other is doing, as if they're connected by some cosmic line? Also, Sarah saying Lucas's full name, subtle hint that people may not get on with him but they are interested enough to know stuff about him

First impression vs re-read: I can't remember my first impression well, but I think I underestimated Isa. Also I had no idea how crazy Farkle could actually get despite the clues from day one. Lucas making a comment on Riley's performance also hit differently in the re-read, because now I know that Lucas is so much more invested in situations than he lets on... it seems like the comment was intended to challenge her, not put her down.

“Y/N, you’re coming for my graduation ceremony, right? I want you to be there,” Sunoo asks you as he walks you home from school that fine day.

Taking his hand in yours, you turn to look at him. “Of course I will. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I promise.”

Kim Sunoo, your boyfriend, the boy who was graduating from high school the next day. Kim Sunoo, your boyfriend, the valedictorian of his batch. You were really proud of him. He had always been a good student, possibly better than you. But you two never compared with one another in that way. You had other responsibilities anyway.

Not only were you a student leader in the school, but you were also the vice-captain of the photography club and the class president. Your time with Sunoo was limited, but that didn’t mean the two of you didn’t have fun when you did spend time together.

With the graduation ceremony being held the following day, it meant that it was again no-school day for the other students. While most students were able to sleep in or hang out with their friends, you were up since 6 a.m., planning bonding activities for the members of the photography club.

Time went by quicker than you realised. You were now in the Prefectorial Board room along with the other student leaders, discussing matters on the upcoming school elections to elect the new executive committee members. Immersed in your busy life, little did you know that someone was expecting you.

Sunoo was in his uniform, seated in the front row of the hall. His classmates kept coming up to him to congratulate him on becoming the valedictorian but he was busy looking for someone. That someone was none other than you, his girlfriend.

Half an hour passes and you were still nowhere to be seen. Sunoo guessed that you were caught up somewhere, knowing that you would never intentionally break your promise. “And now I would like to call upon this year’s valedictorian, Kim Sunoo!” the principal announces, gesturing for Sunoo to make his way up the stage.

Sunoo takes a last look at the door before standing up and heading over to the stage. “First of all, I would like to thank everyone so much for this opportunity,” He begins his speech, constantly scanning the audience in case he had missed you among the big crowd.

But you weren’t there. Then he knew.

You weren’t coming.

You were finally on the way home after spending 3 hours in the Prefectorial Board room. As you passed by the hall, you saw a couple students carrying pieces of decorations out of the hall.

And that’s when it hit you. The graduation ceremony.

You immediately approach one of the students. “Is Sunoo still around?”

The boy scoffs, “The valedictorian? He left an hour ago.”

“Oh, of course. Thanks,” you nod before running off to correct a wrong.

Panting, you finally arrive in front of Sunoo’s door. With a plastic in one hand, you knock on the door as you quickly catch your breath. Feeling impatient, the door opens just as you were about to knock again.

“Sunoo,” you look up to see the boy still in his school uniform, his hair noticeably messy. He gives you a small smile, clearly upset with you. Or so you thought.

“Sunoo, I’m really, really, really, really sorry for missing the graduation ceremony. I really didn’t mean to forget about it. I know it meant a lot to you for me to be there. I just got so distracted by my own responsibilities. I’m really sorry. And I know it may be hard to believe but, I really do care about you, Sunoo.”

“It’s fine, Y/N. That’s why I love you. You care about everyone. You try so hard to make everyone happy, you even forget about yourself. Come on, I'll share the mint chocolate ice cream with you just this once,” Sunoo says, inviting you in.

You gladly enter, snickering. “Wait, what makes you think the ice cream’s for you?”

My birthday has never been my favorite. My depression always gets worse around my birthday. And this was my first birthday without my Grandma and I missed her a lot this weekend. How bad could this possibly be?

Hello everyone! welcome to Ellie's thoughts, i've just had an existential crisis in the shower which happened because i've rewatched 'The Lorax' twice and had fallen for the green twink we all know and have mixed feelings for so buckle up people! This is gonna be a ride..

Also this is gonna be from the top of my head so excuse me if this seems like a bunch of thoughts mushed together by a thirteen year old who is stuck in quarantine with nothing to do but simp for fictional characters because this is exactly what it is! yay!

Okay where to start? Ah yes, my rediscovery of simping for The Onceler. To be honest, I have no idea what came over me. At first I said I had simped for The Onceler as a joke, making a main OC of mine crave for him and all of a sudden, I just decided to dig deeper into the lad and find ancient relics back in 2012. I ended up rewatching 'how bad can i be', rewatching clips from the lorax, watching that one video on youtube where they just took all the shots of him and started to obsess over him.

I got really invested into his whole 'greed and pride arc' thing and seeing so many people also breaking down his story and again, binge-watching content on him, I ended up getting extremely invested into him which lead to me rediscovering The Onceler fandom.

Back in 2020-2021, I already knew of the fandom's existence, it's uprising all of a sudden and I did sort of participate in it but in private. I made an OC to ship him with and did genuine stuff with it but then I lost interest in the span of a month. However, I only really got to see the 'newer fandom and not actually delve deeply into the lore or the fandom for that matter. I only really liked him because he was cute and I saw other people liking him and decided "Hey, it's popular!" so I went along with it.

Now, I'm back and I'm now watching detailed analyses of the fandom, revisiting tumblr just for content on the guy and seeking content of him because i'm so invested into this now. Looking back onto all the old stuff, how people said the fandom was going crazy shipping The Onceler with himself kinda made me feel warm? Familar? Idk how to describe the feeling, I was 3 in 2012 so I didn't really get to experience it's prime but now that i'm rediscovering it, I've realised it must've been super fun. The askblogs, the roleplay's, the AU's, it all seems so fun and I wish I could've been a part of it.

I wondered why I was feeling so attached to something that happened such a long time ago, that happened while I wasn't aware of what the internet even was back then and there comes my existential crisis in the shower. I feel alone-ish, I feel attached to The Onceler because it was something people enjoyed, it's something I was familiar with and that I could've bonded with people about, it just felt like a bunch of teens being teens. I wanted to experience that, it kinda makes me emotional because a lot of people said they had fun, it was fun.

I think the reason that i'm getting so attached to things that were so long ago is also due to the fact that I to felt a sense of nostalgia and belonging, and I know this is THE ONCELER FANDOM but damn. I guess I just really miss the when people went bonkers with anything and could do whatever they wanted on the internet. Kinda probably also has ties to the fact I was (and kinda are) in the Undertale AU fandom (not comparing fandoms i hope).

I'm sorry for making this so gosh darn long and speaking of The Onceler fandom as if it was some era in history when in reality it was just a couple of years ago lol, just wanted to say what I had in mind. Seeing Onceler fanart and stuff about him being posted really makes me happy, thank you <3

Oh it was! I spent many days as a kind in that forest school. We used to play a game called 123 where are you? Which I actually won! Cheated the system, it was amazing and no one saw it coming bruh.

Building dens was amazing! Once when we were being taught about ww2 the teachers had us build dens that we would need to run too when they played a fake air raid siren. I really miss that school sometimes.

Ohhhh sewing lessons? You know I did used to go to a sewing club, I made an embroidery of a house for my grandad! He still has it. What kind of things did you make? It still sounds like it was fun!

Joel wasn't a soft lover. His age didn't stop him from being rough. He was gentle when he needed to be but the majority of the time he was rough and sensual.

When you and Joel had sex, he loved to praise you and make it all about you. He adored you. He would never ask you to please him but my God he would beg to please you. Oral sex was something that he would participate in, but never expect to receive. You two had a small routine, especially when you were in the mood to have casual sex. You would have out of the blue sex or drunk sex after a night out but when you could, you would do your routine.

It would start off with Joel teasing and then prepping you first. All he cared about was making sure you were happy and satisfied first. After this, if one of you climaxed without the other, the other would help out. Today was no different. I have plans today.” You put your hand on top of his and leaned your head to the side. You looked out from behind the curtains and watched as the patrons of Jackson started their day. You smiled as the children started to flood to the play parks before lessons for the day began and the parents all followed behind, yawning as the followed their eager children. 

“Come on. I promise that we will do something productive if you come upstairs with me...” He kissed your neck, squeezing your waist. “Or I could take you here on the kitchen counters if you prefer..” Joel teased and bit your earlobe awaiting an answer. “Ok. But only if you help me with work afterwards.” You put your mug down and held his hand, walking back up the stairs with him. 

Joel pressed a kiss to your lips and sat down on the bed, putting his hands on your hips as you stood above him. You pulled your top over your head. Joel watched you like you were the prettiest thing he has ever seen. He kissed your side before taking off your shorts and underwear. “Well ain’t you the prettiest thing I've ever seen.” If you had no confidence, Joel would ensure you would. “Shh you. Come on.” You lifted his shirt off too and kissed his shoulder before kissing his lips, running your fingers through his hair. 

“Come here then.” Joel mumbled and grabbed your arms, laying backwards on the bed and moving you to his chest. He then moved your legs up his body, do your core was above his face. “Now stay still darlin’.” You nodded and grabbed the headboard, holding on tightly. Joel put his hands on your hips and pulled you down slowly, placing small kisses on the inners of your thighs. 

You sucked the warm air through your clenched teeth as you felt Joel’s stubble on your upper thighs. You opened your mouth and gasped as he placed small kisses to your clit. You were used to Joel pleasuring you by now but every time he did something to surprise you and pleasure you even more. His hands went up and down your ass before gripping it and slapping it. His mouth kissed and licked at your clit before he started to get faster. Your pleasure was reaching its peak. Your knuckles turned white as your grip on the headboard strengthened as you reached your climax. You relaxed and took a few deep breath, feeling Joel rub your hips. “Ahh good girl.” He praised and kissed your bare shoulder. 

“Now, my turn.” He flipped you over so that your positions changed. He laid above you and showered your face in kisses before looking into your eyes. “You ready, baby girl?” He asked and grabbed your wrists, putting them above your head and holding them in place before kissing your neck. He pushed himself inside you before biting down on your neck, leaving a mark. You groaned and attempted to wiggle out of his grip. “I wanna touch you Joel.” You sighed and opened your mouth, wiggling your feet underneath his legs. “Alright but behave.” He warned before releasing your wrists. You placed your hands on his face before pulling him into a kiss, running your figures against his beard. “I love you.” You confessed and kissed his cheek and neck before moving your hands to his back. 

As Joel pushed in harder and harder, you started to scratch down his back muscles. You opened your mouth and wrapped your legs around his waist and pushed yourself more into him. “Joel! Fuck!” You turned your face to the side as he groaned, pulling out of you and climaxing on your stomach. “Fuck!” He breathed deeply and laid his head on your chest, basking in his climax. You smiled and put your hands on his hair and rubbed his scalp. “Wow..” You giggled and looked down at Joel who was slowly sitting up. “What?” He asked and gripped your thighs. “I guess talent does comes with age.” You joked and kissed his lips before jumping up to clean off. 

“You have too much energy, Y/N!” Joel yelled and followed after you.

You wandered around your house looking into each room. “Joel?” You called out as you walked into the spare room. It was full of boxes from your childhood and old stuff from your time at Jackson. Joel was looking for your old art supplies for Ellie. She adored drawing and was getting into painting. You promised her that she could have your old supplies and the way her face light up when you told her she could have them. It was like Christmas Day. 

You looked at the man who was wearing his old jacket that Ellie loved and wanted as well as his torn jeans. You told him to throw them away plenty of times but he wouldn't, he had some sort of connection to these jeans, although they were about to fall off his legs at any point. 

Joel stood up and looked at the wall. A chain fell from his hand and showed the pendent from your younger years. “Fuck..” You ran a hand through your hair and looked up at Joel. “Are you fucking serious?” Joel started arguing. “Y/N you were one of them?!” He yelled loudly as he started to turn around. He held the chain tightly, his hand turning white from his grip. You felt your heart sink when he started to speak. He was angry. 

You understood why but you just needed to explain. 

“Joel just let me explain..” You stood up straight and looked over at him, the light shining into the room through the blinds. Joel shook his head. He wasn't going to let you talk so you would have to shout. Joel was fucking stubborn. He wouldn't listen unless you made him listen. 

“I was a kid! I didn’t have much of a choice Joel!” You walked up to him and put your hands on his arms. He shrugged you off and looked down at the floor. “I left when i could, when i was allowed! You have got to believe me!” You threw your arms in the air and looked at him. “How the fuck am I supposed to believe you? You lied about your past. You lied to Ellie. You lied to me. I can’t believe you.” Joel put his hands over his face and groaned. “Fuck!” He swore and paced back and forth.

“Joel!” You looked at him, tears in your eyes. “Joel. I was a child. I left when i was sixteen. I didn’t have a choice! Please..” You walked up to him and out your hand on his large arm, trying to calm him down. Nothing was working 

Joel threw the chain on the floor before walking to the door frame. “Ellie almost died to get her to those people. They almost killed me and Ellie. You should have told me! I can’t fucking trust you anymore!” You turned and put your hands on his back, leaning against the shirt he was wearing. “I’m sorry Joel. I really am. But I'm not one of them anymore. Please.” You begged. 

“Fireflies never change. You were one, so you will always be one.” Joel walked away. And with that, he was gone. The front door slammed loudly as he stormed out, leaving you to fall to the group, releasing a cry that sounded almost animalistic.

You laid in bed with your knees pushed up against your chest. Your eyes had stopped watering due to the amount you had been crying. Your cheeks were stained with tear marks and your skin was paler than normal due to your sad state. It had been three days since the argument with Joel and he hasn't been back since. You haven't eaten or drank since. You couldn't even think about eating. You lost your Joel because of something you couldn't help, and that fucking broke you. You stated at the wall and listened to nothing but the silence in the cold room. The sheets on your bed were heating due to your hot skin but you refused to move. You got up twice a day to use the bathroom or throw up. You haven't been well for a while but you blamed it on the stress of the argument with Joel. 

You broke away from your glance at the wall to see Ellie slowly entering your bedroom. She peaked her head around the side of the door and knocked slowly, smiling over at you. “Hey Spud.” 

Spud. You remembered when you and Ellie started calling each other Spud. You had been planting in your garden and Ellie turned up with potatoes to plant. You called each other Spud or Potato ever since. She would turn up every month to get some potatoes and help you see to your garden, so Spud it was. 

“Maria sent me over with some soup. She said that you haven't been eating so I should try and help you..no no not help! Encourage! Yeah..” She stood by the side of the bed and put the bag down by the side of the table that was covered in cold bowls of soup from Maria’s attempts to get you to eat. She cleared the table and put them outside the room by the stares so she could clear them up later. She came back in the room and opened the bag, revealing some food and the soup that she brought. Ellie sat on the edge of the bed and looked at your face. “You look too skinny. You need to eat something. Please?” She looked at you with such sincere eyes that you moved slightly, looking at her and nodding. You haven't spoken in three days either so the thought of speaking scared you. 

“Good! Yes, I have bread too. From Dina.” She pulled the table closer and laid them out for you, helping you forward. You sat up and grabbed the spoon, taking some of the soup from the bowl and drinking it. You almost cringed at the thought of your stomach slowly filling up again but it felt good to be warm inside due to the warm liquid. You broke a piece of the bread off and ate it, struggling to swallow due to your sore and swollen throat. “Spud. You need to talk to me. Joel won't say that happened and I need you to talk to me.” You put your spoon down on the table and shook your head. 

Ellie sighed and laid down on your bed, putting her hands above her head. 

“I love you, Y/N. I just need you to talk to me.” 

“I was a Firefly..” You mumbled after minutes of silence. “He found out and yelled at me. He told me I wouldn't change and he couldn't trust me anymore.” Ellie sat up and wrapped her arms around your stomach and pressed her cheek to your arm. “Tommy told me.” She mumbled and held you tightly. “Joel wouldn't have meant it. He was probably just shocked and took it out on yo-” You shook your head. “No. He was seriously pissed off. Like he could have killed me. I was scared of him. For the first time in years, I was scared of Joel.” You confessed and put your hand on top of Ellie’s hands. 

“Joel would never hurt you. I fucking loves you. He’s spent days in his house trashing the place and going to target practice because he doesn't know what else to do. He can’t live without you, Spud.” You looked down at your lap and sucked a breath in through your clenched teeth.

He refused to listen to me and understand the situation I was put in. He wouldn't understand.” You groaned and pushed your hair back. You watched as Ellie got up and put her hands on her hips. 

“Alright. I’ve had enough of this. Get up and shower and come over to mine. We have to get you out of this dump.” Ellie grabbed your arms and walked you to the shower, closing the door behind you. Ellie grabbed the old bowls and took them downstairs before washing them and waiting for you to get out the shower. 

You walked out of the bathroom clean for the first time in days and changed into some fresh clothes. You towel dried your hair before heading downstairs and seeing Ellie and Dina in your living room. “Y/N. Hey!” Dina smiled and walked up to you, placing her arms around your shoulders and pulling you into a tight squeeze. “Come on! We need to get some drinks down you and I certainly need something to drink!” Ellie smiled and walked out your front door. The idea of drinking and even going outside the comfort of your own home scared the living shit outta you. But you would have to leave soon, so why not in the company of two of your favourite people? 

“Ok but if I see Joel, I don’t want to talk to him.” You sighed and grabbed Dina’s hand and followed Ellie outside.

You joined Ellie at the bar and ordered yourself a drink. You noticed that everyone in the bar had turned to face you, Dina and Ellie as you walked in. Mainly because nobody has seen you in days, but also because word spreads fast around these parts and everyone probably is aware of your past. 

“We don’t need no Firefly’s in our bar.” Steven said as he walked up to you and looked at you. He spat on the floor next to your feet ingot very close to your face, trying to threaten you. “Your attempts at threats aren't working. I ain’t afraid of a middle-aged man with a beer belly.” You spat back, looking him up and down before turning back to your drink. You heard Ellie giggle at your insult and the crowd started to get bigger. “Why you little..” Steven yelled before grabbing your arm, trying to force you up from your seat. You refused to move. 

After what felt like a life-time, you heard a loud voice make its way through the crowd. “Hey! I was a Firefly, so you got something to say to Y/N, you can say it to me.” Tommy looked at you and gave you a small nod before facing Steven and his friends. “Now back off.” The man warned as he crossed his arms across his chest to warn them off. The group slowly dispersed and you looked at Tommy, noticing Joel stand at the other end of the room, visible after the crowd left. You shook your head and quickly drank you alcohol before standing up, walking past Tommy. 

“Hey where you goin’?” He asked, grabbing your arm. You looked down at him and shook your head again. “I shouldn’t have come here. It was a mistake.” You told him and looked over at Ellie who was talking to Jesse. “I just wanna go home and sleep.” You patted Tommy’s arm as a sigh to let go and walked out the bar.

You put your arms over your shoulders as the cold nights air hit your bare arms. You had this feeling that someone was following you but you decided to ignore it. There were plenty of people who walked home the same way you did, nothing was wrong. 

Oh how wrong you were. The person who was following you started to speed up and walked directly behind you. You decided to not speed up and continue walking at the same pace you have been for the last five minutes. You watched as more people walked out of the darkness and started to follow behind you with the other man. Shit.

You were pulled back by your hair onto the cold floor. You groaned and cried out when you hit the floor. Your head hit the ground hard and you put your hands up in defence. You didn't even release that you were bleeding until the cold liquid hit the side of your face. The men started to kick you and punch you all over your body. You felt your body shake as you flinched away from the blows to your back, stomach and face. You felt like you were going to die. It was dramatic, you knew that, but the way they were punching you made you feel like you were dying. The small amount of liquid in your stomach was about to come out as one of the men kicked above your belly button. Your vision went blurry as you looked down at the floor, blood filling your mouth from the split lip. 

“HEY!” You heard a loud voice in the background and the men ran away leaving you on floor in your blood. The man started to chase after the others as Dina walked up to you and put your head into her lap. “Hey Y/N stay with me..” She pushed your blood soaked hair aside from your face. She held your face in her hands and started talking to someone. You felt your vision go blurry as you saw two other people walk towards you. You watched as Joel knelt down next to you and picked you up. Not long after this you passed out on his comforting shoulder.

Where have I been? (a post for anyone who might still care lol)

Anyone who knows me knows I’ve taken a looooong hiatus from cosplay, but I’ve also taken a general hiatus from this blog as well. I wanted to take the time to explain some of the reasons why. Explanation below the cut.

1. Toxicity

I’ve had this blog for many, many years. It’s always been My Thing to follow back everyone. But in doing so, I’ve accidentally created a pretty decently toxic environment for myself on my own dash? It seems that wherever I scroll, there are people arguing, constant reminders of how terrible the world and society are, and people shaming other people for things they like. My once-fun dashboard of fandom and all things queer, has just become not quite fun anymore? Social justice issues are really important to me, deeply important, but constant reminders about how terrible the world is can really bring me down (particularly in these already troubling times). I know that running from it is a particularly privileged thing to be able to do (I may be pan, but I’m still white and cis), but sometimes I just gotta put myself and my own mental health first. One day I’m hoping to try to take back control of my blog and do some much needed purging, but it’s going to be a monumental task after so many years. But I really do miss reblogging fandom things. I’ve made a completely separate blog for all things Aesthetic that do nothing but make me happy—essentially creating my own little safe space. It’s been a great non-pressure, anonymous way to just de-stress, but I do miss mucking around in fandom nonsense. BUT this also brings me to another reason...

2. Supernatural and The Destiel Debacle

*spoilers ahead for the final season of SPN* That final scene with Cas absolutely destroyed me. I’m a few seasons behind, but when I woke up one morning and Destiel was trending everywhere, of course I looked up and watched the video. And guys. I SOBBED. Not just a few tears, full on WEPT for at least an hour. I was so heartbroken, not just because a beloved character died, but of how he died. The fact that Cas told Dean everything I’ve always wanted him to, but in the WORST WAY POSSIBLE, only for him to promptly die without Dean even saying anything. I just couldn’t deal. I was Properly Depressed for several days after that, and I still sometimes think about it and get really sad. I could have forgiven this, had they put Cas in the finale, gave you hope that maybe he and Dean could be something in Heaven, together, but no. Of course not. The whole thing genuinely put such a bad taste in my mouth for all fandom and network television in general. Also, it hurt me to see people actually calling this a WIN. I’m not here to take away anything from anyone—if you loved it, that’s great and I’m happy for you. But GUYS. It was CRUMBS. Is it great that Cas is a confirmed queer character? Sure, but they killed him the second his confession was over. Rowan Ellis did a great YouTube video about the whole thing, and I highly suggest you watch it, it really put things in perspective for me. The fact is, they had TWELVE YEARS to give you this, and they didn’t. It’s like Marvel expecting us to be singing their praises cuz a Russo brother mentioned a boyfriend, a few minutes out of their ENTIRE MOVIE FRANCHISE. Anyway, I was so disheartened I didn’t want to participate in fandom whatsoever. (Luckily, I’ve recently fallen in love with Black Sails—also thanks to Rowan Ellis—and its amazing writing, characters, story, and queer representation helped give me hope again).

3. Self-image 

This more directly relates to cosplay. I gained weight again, and my motivation to cosplay dropped significantly. Suddenly there just didn’t seem a point to getting into all the makeup and putting in the effort if I wasn’t going to like what I saw on the webcam. Luckily, I’ve recently read a FANTASTIC book called “What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat” by Aubrey Gordon, and it was honestly life-changing. It forced me to completely reframe how I think about myself and society, and I’ve actively been making an effort to feel better and unashamed in my own skin, and it’s been going well! I’ve stopped planning my entire life and happiness and worth around whatever number I wanted the scales to reflect. But, that being said, cosplay is still a struggle for me. Though I’m generally more accepting of myself now, I still find it difficult to play my favourite characters, almost all of which are attractive males. I’m admittedly hard on myself about it, my subconscious constantly telling me that I’m not androgynous enough or sexy enough to play these characters. Of course you don’t have to be these things to cosplay, I’m a huge advocate that ANYONE can cosplay WHOEVER they want, but this is what I, personally, am going through. One step at a time, as they say!

And that’s about it. I’m not sure when I’ll be back, and I make no promises. But maybe I’ll pop in to post a gay gifset or two sometime :) I’ve also been pondering TikTok a lot, so who knows, maybe that’ll be a thing in the future. This explanation was as much for my benefit as to those reading—it feels good to get this stuff off my chest and I hope you understand. Love you all so, so much and I hope you’re all getting nothing but the best out of this hell site lol ❤️

LEGACY FESTIVAL

spring is the season of festivals. since april, senior artists have been busy with the many festivals (universities and musicals) that run throughout the season. with their current roster being larger than ever, legacy is looking to create a whole new experience inspired by the extremely popular festival: ‘COACHELLA’. the THREE DAYS festival will begin on JUNE 12 and end on JUNE 15. a site with tents and three stages will be set up for the occasion. food trucks from various restaurants will also be set up in a resting area. various activities and merchandise will be available during the festival, but the main attraction remains LEGACY ARTISTS.

during the three days of the festival, the senior artists will perform on the main stage. alongside them FUTURE DREAMS will also take on the main stage. with little time to prepare, they will perform the songs they have been rehearsing and performing during the past months. the rest of the trainees will be performing on the two smaller stages. they have been divided between SIX different activities. the first is a FANMEETING, where trainees will sit with a host, answer question from the crowd (pre-screened) and take pictures with lucky winners. the second is a LIVE SHOW with trainees hosting it. the third is a BEAUTY PANEL with a professional makeup artist of innisfree using trainees as models, they will discuss beauty with the trainees too. the fourth is DANCE BATTLE where trainees are divided in teams of two and have to ace the most choreography of songs randomly given to them. the fifth is the same concept but as a SINGING BATTLE. the final stage is a RAP BATTLE, a mock form of show me the money form where each trainee will have to perform a rap stage.

while the festival is for fans to enjoy, trainees will also be given a few hours to attend 2 stages. safe areas for artists will be arranged everywhere so that legacy artists can enjoy activities freely. those areas will be close enough from the vip area so that fans who paid more could interact with legacy artists should they wish to. trainees are forbidden to attend stages of trainees of another gender.

Once we’re finally boarded, Evan directs me to our seat in first class. I raise an eyebrow at him making him chuckle and shrugs as if to say don’t worry about it. Once the plane takes off and most of the passengers turn in for night. I turn to Evan who is setting a brief cases in front of him.

“So you’re ok to split off from your partner to do this? Will Logan and Rebecca be ok?” I ask Evan curiously. 

“Oh yea they’ll be fine. Believe me Bec can handle things at the home front for a few days. In fact she’d probably prefer it, to my meddling. And by meddling she means my need for relaxation every once in a while” He says laughing softly.

Turning back to me before whispering, “I know the whole Blake Sterling thing kind of derailed the briefing. So I brought some of the flies with me, in case you wanted to go through them. Logan mentioned your a planner so I thought it would help. If you want.”

I look at him surprised, “That would be great. Thank you Evan.”

“No problem and I’d like to add that Blake doesn’t seem involved. Not his father’s or brother’s shady business.” He says calmly.

“That actually does help.” I say breathing a sigh of relief.  

I go over the four different flies as quietly and efficiently as possible. I need to find a way into there little “crew” and it couldn’t hurt to learn as much about them as possible in order to do it.

Graham Warren Sterling, kicked out of every boarding school in the country. Drug peddling were along the complaint but only got a slap on the wrist. Some how not only managed to get into Langston but is two years away from graduating. Has a full time position waiting for him at his father’s office. He’s been “working” part time already for the past few years to learn the family business. The architect firm has practically built the whole city. There’s been whispers of backroom deals, embedding, bribery to get anything from land, to shoddy buildings covered up. Some how a fire that killed a dozen people and injured countless more was deemed an accident. No one got any jail time.

Last year, before I started Langston Maxine Harper and Chloe Preston were the only two not implicated in a drug ring among their friends. Some how they had air tight alibi’s and no one else would talk. So they got off. Maxine goes to the sideshows a lot with Graham but doesn’t seem to race. She does seem to take business meetings with known drug dealers and runners. The only blemish in her wrap sheet is destruction of property, which she did a week of community service for before her mother took office. Now there either better at covering it up or she’s gotten smarter.

Chloe hasn’t gotten so much as a misdemeanor against her record. Which isn’t surprising as her uncle is the commissioner. She’s never seen without either Graham or Maxine though so if anyone knows something it’s her. Doesn’t participate at the side shows either just hangs around. She seems to be her uncle’s and friend’s weak link in their lives of crime.

Blake Sterling is a English literature assistant at Langston. Which i already knew. He doesn’t get along with his father or his business. Still sees his brother on a weekly basis and they seem very close. It’s unknown if he knows anything about his brothers extracurricular activities though.

“So that’s it huh? Get in with their kids and find dirt on the parents?” I say breathing deeply thinking of Blake.

“Yes. There’s a little more to it though. Those three, we want them too.” He says pointing at Blake’s brother Graham as well as two girls. Who I’ve just learned are named Maxine and Chloe. Those are our marks. I’ve seen Graham and Maxine briefly at sideshows. I’ve never spoken to them, nor did I know he was Blake’s brother. We don’t exactly run in the in the same circles.

“Right, and Blake?” I ask scared.

“Like I said he doesn’t seem to be involved.” Evan says smiling at me reassuringly.

Shoulders slumping I say, “Right, but if he is we have to bring him in.”

“Yes...but let’s cross that bridge when we get there.” He says patting my hand.

“Ok.. great.” I say feeling dejected.

“Hey, we’re going to figure this out.” He says smiling.

“Why don’t you distract me. Tell me about yourself.” I say with a small smile. Laughing quietly he says, “Alright what do you want to know?”  

“Tell me about your family.” Curiosity shifting my thoughts from the case.

“Well it’s just my mom and me. Always has been. She’s wonderful, can’t get anything past that woman. Worked all her life as a nurse. Would come home after a long day and still help me with my homework.” He says smiling fondly at the memories.

“Is she the reason you went into law enforcement?” I ask smiling at his blissful expression.

“I suppose you could say that. She spent all day helping people and I wanted that in a different way.” Evan chuckles lightly, so not to wake our neighbors.  

I chuckle too before asking, “So ex marshal to FBI, big change huh?”

He shrugs nonchalantly, “Yes and no. The law is still the law and I still get to help people.”

“True. Now tell me do you have a special lady or gentleman in your life?”  

He busts out laughing before he can muffle it. As we get shushed we both start laughing even harder. Once we calmed down he answers, “Not at the moment no, I’m not opposed to it either. It’s hard in my line of work, finding someone who can handle it. It’s not easy, honestly I’m afraid it’s never going to happen.”

I see a little sadness in his eyes and I reach over to him laying my hand over his. “Evan Shipley, that is never going to happen. Have you seen you? I mean people must fall at your feet constantly. Tell me does it get annoying? Is it hard to walk around without stepping on people?”

“Well someone has to do I suppose.” He says his genuine smile back on his face as he shoves me with his shoulder lightly.

We continue our game for the rest of the flight. I forget about the case and everything else as I dive into the life of Evan Shipley. He tells me about some of his marshal cases, his old partner Samantha and his life in Texas. Once we land, we grab an Uber to our hotel and bid each other good night. Tomorrow the real work starts. If Colt’s here, I know three places he could be. I cross my fingers that Evan and Rebecca’s information on his whereabouts is correct. I need him, we need him.

The next morning I’m awoken at 430 am again. I find a sheepish Evan at my door waiting for me in running gear. I mutely shut the door and change into work out gear. I guess this is my life now.

“Sorry I know it’s early but Bec would kick my ass if we didn’t continue your training.” He says with a fond smile and chuckle.

“She seems like the type too. What’s her deal?” I say curiously as we reach the hotel exit and make our toward the beach.

“With Bec? She takes her job very seriously. We both do but she’s had a lot to prove. Men discount her for being a beautiful woman with an important job. She’s had to deal with it a lot and the best way she know how is to kick their ass.” He says seriously.

“So when you mean kick there ass, you mean both figuratively and metaphorical?” I say smiling finding a kinship with the red head.

“Most definitely! Bec is amazing, in everything she does.” He says smiling gently before clearing his throat staring at the path ahead.

I can’t practically see the cartoon hearts floating around him. I giggle loudly making him look back at me curiously. “It’s just you seem to think very highly of her.”

“Of course I do. She’s my partner, my family, one of my best friends.” He says smiling.

“Right of course. Let’s get this run out of the way.” I say still smiling. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Evan.

“Oh it’s not just a run today. We’re doing weight training too.” He adds laughing taking off in a full on sprint.

Not to be out done in a race. I book it and say, “ Alright cheater lets do this.” 

After our run, which I lost much to my annoyance. True to his word, we return to the hotel gym and weight lift. Though the hotel is a little limited, we make do and get a pretty good workout in. By that time the hotel breakfast is open and we get heaping plates of food.

In between bites Evan asks me, “I’ve pretty much told you my whole life story. Don’t you think it’s time you tell me more about yourself?”

“Well, my mom died about ten years ago. It broke my Dad’s heart, it broke both of our hearts. He became more protective, he couldn’t lose anyone else. I don’t blame him, the choices I made were my own. When I met Logan I was looking for freedom and he gave me that. He gave me a thrill I couldn’t find any where else.” I lapse into quiet staring out the window and away from Evan.

“I’m so sorry Ellie.” He says quietly putting his hand over mine.”

  I turn back at him giving him a tight smile before saying, “It was a long time ago.”  

“I doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt any less.” He says with softened eyes.

I shrug adding, “It’s ok, let’s talk about something else.”

“Ok tell me about this sideshow we’re going to tonight?” He says shifting in his chair.

“Well it was mine and Logan’s first date sort to speak and I actually meet Colt there too. Too bad I don’t have my car, I could show you a real race.”

“Maybe not your car, but I have a car we can use.” Evan says smiling slyly.

“Are you serious! Oh my God lets go.” I say getting out of my chair.

“Isn’t it a little early for the sideshow?” He says chucking.

“Right...well let’s go get ready and start looking for Colt. Don’t dress like a cop either or no one will talk to us.” I say whispering the word cop, even though the dining room is practically empty.

“Don’t worry I won’t cramp your style.” He says full on laughing now, getting up to join me to our hotel rooms.

After a long shower, I take my time getting ready and picking out the perfect outfit. A white low V-neck tank, short cut off shorts, gold layered necklace and white chucks. I add Logan’s spark plug necklace and a bracelet Colt gave me too at the last second. Evan waits for me in the hallway in black boots, distressed jeans, black T-shirt and aviators.

“Subtle, very subtle.” I say laughing.

“Would you shut up I tried. Logan doesn’t wear shirts that say, I swear I’m not a cop.” He says bumping my shoulder.

“I’m messing with you, you look nice. Just relax your posture a little.” I say looking him over again. He really is very handsome, he looks more like a model then an FBI agent.

We walk to the hotel parking lot to the back. Where a white 2020 Ford GTO is parked making me stop in my tracks, mouth wide open. “How...how?” I mouth incoherently.

“FBI remember. Nothing but the best, I hope it’s up to your standards. I’m told it’s been modified for racing.” He says shrugging.

“Omg are you kidding me right?”

“No and that being said don’t crash it ok, it’s a loan.” He says laughing at my enthusiasm.

I hop in to the drivers seat and Evan hands me the keys before saying, “Show me what you got. Don’t get caught this time, we’re on a time crunch.”

I salute him before starting the car. Omg it’s perfect, there’s NOS installed too. I think I might cry tears of happiness. We make our way to the free way where I weave through traffic going fast and faster. I lose myself in it, I’m free again. We make it to MPC’s old garage and a flood of memories assault me. There isn’t anything here still. I was so sure Colt would try to rebuild it. I think of Kaneko and his sacrifice and I feel tears running down my face. Evan gives me space to look around and get myself together. After a while we walk to the car and drive to the next location. It’s one of Evans FBI leads, only to find nothing. We spend the rest of the day going to every location, only to come up with nothing. At sunset, I drive to the cliff Colt took me to but he’s not there either. There is only one place left to go, the sideshow. He has to be there he has to, I think to myself. Evan and I walk around for a while, things have changed though. Salazar and his goons are gone, even Vaughn is no where to be found. I can’t find anyone I recognize except for the promoter.  

I make my way over to her before asking, “Any bike racing today?” 

“Not yet maybe later. Do I know you? You seem familiar.” She says looking at me from head to toe.

“Former Mercy Park.” I say standing my ground.

“And him?” She says nodding at Evan.

“He’s with me. I’m looking for Kaneko’s son. Seen him around?”

She looks over at Evan again and me before nodding and saying, “He’s here all the time. You signing up for a race or not?”

“Yea. What’s the fee?” I ask her ready to go into my purse for my racing money.

“Ten grand. The next race is in 5 minutes.” She says smiling at me.

“Fine. Sign me up.” I hand her a wad of cash and walk away.

“You just bet ten grand.” Evan says with a low whistle.

“I didn’t bet it Evan. It’s an investment. Did you see those other cars? They don’t stand a chance. Plus we need to blend in to get more info.” I whisper to him as we walk back to the car, to bring it closer.

Before I know it, Evan and I are strapped in to the car at the starting line. I survey the other racers critically, going over in my head everything I’ve learned. I look at Evan sideways before saying, “It’s been a long time since I’ve had someone riding shot gun. Maybe it’s time I teach you something.” I say smiling at him confidently.

“Kick some ass Ellie. I’ve got your back.” He says chucking smiling confidently back at me.

The car feels like an extension of myself and I zone out. It’s just me and the car. No Evan, no FBI, no case nothing. I drift and use the NOS perfectly, just like I was taught. I was right, that race was a piece of cake. I walk away with 50 grand easy. Ten of which was already mine but still 40 grand win for one race is very good. I feel nervous carrying that much cash and I’m about to tell Evan we should head out and maybe come back. Then I hear him. Just like when I heard Logan’s voice a couple days ago a flood of emotions assault me.

“Well well well if it isn’t the one and only Ellie Wheeler. I hear you’ve been looking for me.” Colt says smirking, before opening his arms to me.

4. Who was the first person you told, how did they react?

The first person I told about my sexuality was one of my best friends at 15! Well, “told” — she basically realised that I was a huge mess over this girl in our group of friends and asked me about it, and I told her I was desperately in love 😂 She was super helpful, mindful, telling me everything would get better and helping me talk to the girl in question. It wasn’t until quite a few months later that we both realised that it’s not really straight to have a crush on a girl and we were like “... wait.” Yup. That’s when we realised I was gay. As of today, we are both dating our (girl) best friends XD oblivious idiots, that’s what we were

And I honestly can’t remember who the first person I told about my gender was, but I’m pretty sure it was @paoak! At first she was really shocked, because both of us were very uneducated when it came to gender identities and it felt like such a big deal, but she was supportive through all of my mess (cutting my hair, buying new clothes and a binder, trying random names and pronouns), and I still remember her telling me I looked hella handsome with my binder on and feeling all askjfdlkgkjhj inside 💗 and now, of course, all’s good and settled!

That are canon: Ruby and Sapphire from Steven Universe, and Princess Bubblegum and Marceline from Adventure Time! Especially the second, because it played a really important role in my relationship with @paoak :3 we cosplayed them when we were pining idiots! 

I also really loved Arizona and Callie from Grey’s Anatomy! I watched their relationship unfold as a kid/young teen and that’s how I learned about bisexuality (and biphobia, and how homosexual people participate in it too), so they hold a special place in my heart 💕

AND how could I forget!! Ellie and Riley from The Last of Us! And both Damien and Jack and Nicole and Shaylin from the House of Night, gosh, the FEELS.
