man someone left a comment on one of my buckbucky fics today that said 'i can feel how much you love them through your writing' and i literally cried lol. why is that like. the sweetest/most fulfilling/validating thing you can say to a fic writer (who is way too deeply invested in his fandom of choice lmfao)? i've never gotten a comment worded like that before and it was so unexpected, i didn't realize how meaningful the sentiment would be to me wahhskdgjg <333

I think what amazes me about the animation in arcane is how HUMAN the characters look. Especially their skin, you can see the pores, the lines, all the "imperfections" which are typically covered by makeup in real life, photographed to not appear as such, or is simply neglected in animation in favour of ease.

At first, I thought it was weird. Never seen it before, right? But as time went out it grew to be one of my favourite things about the show. The animation in general is phenomenal, but the way you can see that exhaustion, contempt, surprise or rage or WHATEVER on those painfully human features, just like us, always like us, gets me more than anything else.

The other day i had a dream that i am remembering just now as i am trying to fall asleep and i am already turning it into something that could be a novella of sorts and it even has a plot.

The dream was set somewhere in the Old West and Main Guy was a gunslinger/bounty hunter who was also no perfectly law abiding man and he caught and beat up two targets to haul them to the next sherriff's office but there was also a Main Gal who was on his tracks for unknown reasons and - the dream's details are foggy here - she semi-partnered up with him to safely drag the other two guys to where they would be paid and in the time it took them to get to the destination he saved her life so ultimately when she had cashed *him* in, she did a Blondie-and-Tuco-style "rescue" by sniping the rope he was about to be hanged with and then they rode off into the sunset (after splitting the money 50/50, which is Not very Blondie-And-Tuco style)

So now as my falling-asleep entertainment, I have borrowed from all my beloved tropes and spaghetti Western movies (and the Jeff Bridges version of True Grit because Fuck John Wayne)

Main Girl is now the daughter of some shady asshole who abandoned her family and thus to a life of poverty but himself got rich by murder and theft somewhere in the gold mines of either California or Alaska (i still need to decide). And Main Girl, now that her brothers have moved on and her ma has died of grief and poverty-induced-illness (tuberculosis maybe. Or any other infection, gonna be vague on the details), MGirl has found out about a hefty bounty on daddy dear's head. She gets on her way to find him and cash him in (and get her sweet sweet revenge) but knows she can't do it alone so she teams up True-Grit style with The Guy, who is still a bounty hunter in this scenario, bringing the useful fact that she knows how daddy must look. It's been 10 - 15 years, but she also knows his voice, so useful to have aye?

They set out to track across the continent up north/to the west, start to bond, and become one helluva team with their complementing skills.

Needless to say, I already have a few drawings in mind because I *exactly* know what they look like :D

also idm ive probably doxxed myself a dozen times by now /lh, my state is in fact a pretty weird one in terms of wildlife. i also have a picture of like 50 white ibis in one tree but it’s so low quality that im too embarrassed to share. it was pretty funny to see tho

how to describe a loving gaze

⇸ eyes darting all over your face, trying to figure out which part of you they want to set their eyes on the most (it's impossible)

⇸ gazing at you like you're miles away only when you're a few feet away, standing with another person. their stare is hard, intense, but also melting and blank.

⇸ a featherlight touch to your arm with their eyes softly peering up at you. they can't believe that you're allowing them to touch you like this—so innocent, so softly.

⇸ late nights where its just the two of you in a car. they turn over to look at you but immediately turn. for the safety of the both of you, they can't stare at you any longer

⇸ when you're teasing them, they have to bite down extra hard to not release that smile from their lips. their eyes are squinted more tightly than usual. still, they're glued onto you.

⇸ meeting their eyes from across the room, and the two of you have the exact same thought. you turn away first to hold back your laughter, but their eyes are pinned onto you.

⇸ a softened gaze in a random moment. there's no reason for them to be looking at you like that—with slightly hooded eyes and parted lips—except for the fact that they just love seeing you

⇸ you're twirling around in your new outfit, showing the 360 angle. their pupils look like they're completely taking over the iris of their eye. suddenly, breathing becomes a lot more faster than they remember.

⇸ tears run like thrashing rivers on your face, dripping onto your pants and soaking the sleeves of your shirt. but they don't care. even when wiping your tears, they still can't get over how you look absolutely angelic like this.

⇸ eyeing you in the middle of the night, feeling incredibly lucky that they are the only one who can look at you in this state. a smile dawns upon their face as they trace the shape of your jaw, press their fingers in your cheekbones, and kiss you on the cheek.

⇸ a make-out session that seems like it will never stop until they pull away, and the reason being, "i needed to look at you like this," with swollen lips and a red flush.

⇸ laughter dying down into silence. looking at each other and bursting into laughter again.

⇸ being completely bare in front of each other after a long night. shameless admiration where their eyes move up and down your face and body. there's a mix of lust and adoration in their eyes.

⇸ watching you storm off, and all they can do is stand there, focused on your fleeting figure. their face is contorted—not in an angry way—but a look of concern flashes across their features. did they just lose the one they loved the most?

⇸ getting food with the other person and realizing that this is all it takes for you to be content. this is what happiness feels like, you think.

⇸ a gripping hug that makes you feel so seen. that one second during the embrace where you two both look at each other, and time stands still. you want to frame the expression on the other person's face.

⇸ seeing you, and a beaming smile immediately breaks out of their face.
