Just thinkin' about Kusuo taking care of a depressed Aren.. it's the adult au and Aren can't get up from their bed at all.
(Cut for the Trigger Warning for shitty paragraphs and writing)
So one day, Kusuo decides to take care of him. Here it goes like this, picture this, Aren asks Kusuo to come lay with him on the bed whilst Kusuo is trying to just be there for him and comfort him.
And Kusuo goes in, right? Then, Aren scoops him up by hugging him tight and puts him to his other side of the bed, and just sleeps on Kusuo's chest. They have a conversation.
"Is this what it felt like..? Back when you still lived with your family.."
Some hesitation. "Every day."
"I'm sorry."
Kusuo becomes silent to register that and replies with- "It's alright, but this time I'll take care of you."
Kusuo lifts Aren’s head up with his hands to get him to look at him.
"I'll take care of you until you're better, so just. Rest, okay? Keep resting, I'll do everything, and when you feel like you're ready to get up. I'll also be there for you."
Aren looks at him for a moment until tears start forming. He finds himself doing this often because of their talks, but now he feels less shame since the only person who can see him like this is the love of his life. He goes,
"Alright." And dives in for a kiss which Kusuo gladly receives. They stay like that for a moment. Just with each other, wherein nothing could disturb them from being in love. And taking care of each other, always.
"I love you." Aren whispers, to which Kusuo replies back.
"I love you, too."

A sneak peek
High Noon on the Summit is not dead, it's just fighting me with everything it's got. I am Struggling hard with it, but the first two chapters are (mostly) done. The other four are.....there.
Anyway, I know that @mangyraccooon @xamaxenta @lerya-fanfic and @itsthefandommash have been interested in how it's going. So I'm gunna post a sneak peak from the first chapter. Hopefully I can make more progress before the new year (the whole fic will go up next year, probably starting in late february sometime), so this will have to tide people over while I wrestle this monster into submission.
“Dragon’s son, is it?” Crocodile says, something weird about his voice.
Ace turns his head back once more. Crocodile’s face is still expressionless, stoic as stone. He sighs, chains clinking as he shifts around. “You know him? Luffy never did, that I know of. Or his mom.”
“I knew him briefly. He’s not really the type to have a kid.” Crocodile says quietly, voice still a little strange. Ace squints, but the other man still isn’t really giving him an expression to work with.
“Well yeah, he dumped Luffy with Garp who dumped him on the same mountain bandits that he also dumped me with!” Ace says with a snort. “Nobody in the Monkey family is really suited to raising a kid. Those bandits were better parents to us than anybody could have ever been!”
Talking about it makes him think of Dadan. He raises his free hand up, the chain clinking, and runs his fingers over the beads around his neck. He knows that Dadan never took off the one he made for her, she probably still wears the damn thing. He’d made it just after his eleventh birthday, because Sabo told him that her birthday was close to his own. He’d left it on her pillow and even though she never said a word about it, once she’d seen him wearing the exact same one she never took it off that he saw.
Crocodile grunts in his cell and shifts around, shadows falling over his shoulders. “I don’t doubt that. Dragon is dedicated to what he does, a kid would have been an unnecessary and unwanted distraction for him.”
“Huh.” Ace hums, trying to think on that. His hand falls back down to his lap next to the one gripping the feathers. “What does he do? What’s so important that he’d give up his own son to focus on instead?”
“The Revolutionary Army.” Crocodile says simply, leaning his own head back against the wall of his cell. Darkness shadows him once more, reducing him to an outline and a bright pair of eyes again.
Ace jolts a little, sitting forward. “No shit!?”
Crocodile just nods slowly, the outline bobbing up and down.
Ace leans back again, looking up at the ceiling once more. Luffy’s dad works for the Revolutionary Army? No fucking wonder he didn’t want Luffy around. He thinks on the strangeness of it-how Luffy’s dad is among the most wanted in the world while his grandfather is one of the Navy’s biggest heroes and mascots. How much shame did Garp carry around, that his son and grandson are both failures and that the boy he was charged to protect against explicit execution orders also became a failure? How did Garp bear it?
Another thought pops into his mind. One that’s lingered in the darkened background of his life a few times, hidden in the shadow cast by his own… “Did you ever meet Luffy’s mom?”
When no answer comes, Ace turns his head to look. Crocodile is staring at him again, eyes sharp and cold and piercing. The shadow has fallen away. He looks almost angry, with a slight downward clench between his eyebrows and his mouth tugged down at the edges. There’s something weirdly familiar about it, a familiar chill runs up his spine-different from before-but he can’t place why.
“Yikes, what a glare.” He can’t help but say. “Sorry I asked!”
The silence drags on and on. Down the hall, the Marines’ movements start getting louder. Then, after a pause so long that Ace begins to think that Crocodile isn’t ever going to answer:
“I might have known her. If she’s who I think she is, she’s long gone.” And with that, his eyes close and he tilts his head back. The shadow comes back, swallowing Crocodile’s upper body and hiding him from view once more. Done with the conversation and checking out.
“So she’s like my mom, then.” Ace says, not expecting Crocodile to keep engaging. “Mine apparently died right after giving birth to me.”
Crocodile hums lightly under his breath, barely audible to Ace, but says nothing.

i'm so sick in the head about them but one of my favorite things about scarian is just the way grian says "scar," like, the way his accent and voice wraps around the word, it just sounds so right

Thinking along the line of safehouse fics and the inherent endings they have (that link references Brix specifically), I think Flowers from my Love might have a similar bittersweet ending.
I’m really just thought barfing. I’m absolutely open for hashing this out in DM’s or in comments or whatever.
Spoilers for fics (mine and other authors) below the cut. You have been warned. Don’t come for me because I spoiled it for you.
(I’m on mobile, apologies for not linking to your fics, authors I’m about to mention! 😘)
@the-californicationist’s Gunslinger ends with Price retiring with Charon. An apt ending for the two that had such a long slow-burn, thrown into chaos and forced to reconcile their actions against the big-bad.
Things’ How Many Days I Bleed is yet unfinished and I haven’t asked if they’ve decided how it ends yet. (I don’t want to know.)
Both were tremendously influential toward my development of Brix. Both are also Price X Reader/OFC in a 2nd POV. Brix is Soap X OFC.
It feels cruel to make Soap cut his career short to be with an American. He’s late 20’s, has a decade of service under his belt, and has hit the peak of his service on an elite task force. Even if he falls in love with orchards/winery life, I struggle with him just abruptly saying “nah, I’m out” - especially if Makarov’s still at large. (His death does not happen, but everything else in MWIII does.)
Maybe the best outcome for the is a long-distance relationship. But Annabeth lost her fiancé in her early 20’s, and her father 6 months before the story starts. I don’t think she’d be up for that sort of…abandonment? Intermittent visits?
So that makes me rethink the romance aspect of the story. Maybe it’s more about letting others in an supporting you than romance love. I don’t know. I’ll have to see where those two go, I suppose. But I think it ends with a letter of some sort. (It’s still going to hurt, even if it’s a bittersweet hurt.)
@syoddeye’s For the Record has two endings, both of which absolutely nailed the vibes of the relationship between Animale and Price. One an ending of “we cannot be together after everything” and one of “we are going to try after much healing has happened.”
FTR inspired Flowers. Hands down. No question. I will fully credit Sy in that, because they deserve it.
I’ve had it in my mind that Johanna goes through something akin to the Piccadilly mission. Had it written in my notes from day 1. Kyle comes to her rescue, but like FTR - what happens to that trust between them? Is it one built on omissions? I’m not sure.
I also don’t know if Kyle would give up his life on the Task Force for her either. Or if she would give up hers. Johanna isn’t as hurt as Annabeth is (Johanna has Pepper (service dog) and her company and that’s enough. Demi/ace vibes? Idk tbh.)
So maybe she’s made peace with it being a short-term fling. But again - what’s the revelation of Kyle’s job do to their relationship? Does it end with a soft hand squeeze and “my door’s always open to you”? He might retire in 5-ish years and come back to her. Or it’s just a tender memory they both hold close.
It’s much less of a healing fic in comparison to Brix - it’s more about meeting people where they are? I guess? Idk. I had the one scene in the city and the idea of the whole 141 next door and a flower farm and here we are.
Like I said earlier, I’m just musing on these two tonight. I’ve been wanting to write them, but I hadn’t really thought through the endings until now. And that’s what’s been one of my hold-ups I didn’t realize until I started tugging at the strings.

Ok, about 230 words of LtA translated tonight. There was a paragraph with a giant complicated sentence that slowed me down a bit. Better than no progress at all though!
Bernard was introduced in what I translated tonight. I saw on the wiki that it seems he's generally referred to as Ky's butler, but I decided to render the word 「執事」 as "steward" instead because he does more than just cleans Ky's house and bring him tea biscuits lol
Bernard manages crime syndicate reports, compiles summaries of them, and works as an analyst for Ky at the former Holy Order HQ in Paris, too. That's way above a standard "butler," imo. It seems like the word 「家令」 more generally means what we think of a butler as in English anyway.
LtA hasn't referred to Bernard with「家令」 at all, but if Norimitsu uses that or「バトラー」to refer to his job later I'll change it.

Poll adventure (paventure? lol) Day 6: read the small story tidbit below the poll for more details, OR just vote based on initial impression
(✦ see past poll results + further information HERE (link) ✦)
The winning option of yesterday's poll was that the adventurer should ask the Innkeeper about the suspicious egg he got from the Well Creature….
-
After finishing his food scraps, he awkwardly creeps back over to the main counter, pulling up a stool and just hoping the Innkeeper will eventually make eye contact with him... She finally looks to the side whilst cleaning a glass, his chance to blurt out whatever he can.
"SO!- uh,, I um... I found something weird, or uh.. I didn't find it actually, I guess, I..... s-someone, or something.. gave it to me, as maybe..? a reward, or.. oh, well i-it doesn't matter why.. but UH, but so, I was just wondering, d-do you think you might know anything about it? about like, uh... stuff? Objects.. perhaps.....?"
She stares with equal parts amusement and concern, crossing her arms and letting out a soft chuckle, "Well, I've seen quite a variety of things while working here, so - Yeah, I could try to help you identify an item, if that's what you're asking."
"G-good. Okay. Well.. It's, uh..... this." He's barely even placed the little wooden egg box up on the counter before she's already slamming the lid shut and reaching over to force it back into his bag. Suddenly serious, her eyes dart around the room, scanning to ensure no-one else happened to notice.
"Don't EVER let anyone see you with that, okay??". Abrupt tone shift making him even more nervous, he just stares blankly, muttering a few gibberish noises whilst nodding at her in confirmation.
"I mean, I'm not absolutely certain," her voice lowers as she speaks, "but to me it looks exactly like a Caiploras egg. Those animals have been nearly extinct for at least a hundred years. Only tiny groups of them still exist here and there, and even those eventually get wiped out as soon as they're discovered. Kings and nobles used to hunt them, especially for the eggs, 'cause of all the theories - unique magical properties, uses in enchanting, shit like that.. I don't really know, I'm not that experienced with magic.... But.."
She pauses for a few seconds to stare him down (this does not soothe his anxiety at all), examining intently, as if to determine whether he's actually trustworthy before continuing..
"...My brother is. He's a mage, and a scholar, and he specializes in stuff like this, all these rare animals and whatnot. He'll hate me just sending a complete stranger over there, but.. I think you should go see him. He'd definitely be able to identify it- hell, he'd probably even pay you for it, if it really is what I think it is. And, he'd know how to take care of it properly, raise it well, not just cut it up for fucking potions or whatever...", she scoffs bitterly.
Grasping at a nearby napkin to fan himself with, he shifts sweatily in his seat, "W-wh... but,.. How would I do that?"
"What do you mean? Do what?"
"F-find, him.. IHhh... I just.. I don't, know the area well.. is all, I uh...."
"I'll give you directions, obviously.. Are you okay? Do you like... need some water? You look-"
"NHnnnou, I'M FINE! I just, haha.. uh... Maybe, am.. not very good at....uh.. this.." He gestures around himself nonspecifically.
With a brief confused glance, she pours a cup of water anyway, then casually plucks a small notebook from her pocket to begin scribbling messily. "Well, look, I'll give you the information, and if you feel up to it, you can go. I really think you should, but, eh... your choice, y'know."
As he fights his shaky hands to maintain control of the water glass, she lays out the paper on the table, pointing at parts of her sketch. "He's over in Fargahel, which should be a few days travel from here. See? The roads kind of go like this, but it's mostly a straight path. Look for the ruins of an abandoned castle. He's holed himself up in there, the underground part, repurposed into some sort of 'sanctuary' for rehabilitating injured birds or whatever the hell he's up to now. He probably won't attack you or anything, but I signed a little note on the back of this so he knows I sent you.. just in case."
Neatly folding up the map, she slides it towards him as she leans closer to intensely meet his eyes. "Just remember, no matter what you do, do NOT let anyone know you have that egg. There are plenty of folks out here still hunting for them. You don't want someone recognizing it and coming after you. Especially with how, uh...", it feels like she might mention he doesn't seem he'd be very good at combat, but she simply lets the sentence trail off, shrugging with a smile and politely patting his hand as he takes the paper.
"Just get some sleep, yeah? Think about it. And talk to me in the morning if you have any more questions."
He slumps over to lean on the counter, resting for a moment after she walks back to the other end of the room, just trying to wrap his head around all the new information.. He only took the egg because it looked pretty! He just wanted it to hatch into a cool chicken or something! Why does it have to actually be some big stinky scary secret rare item?... With a heavy sigh, he resolves to never again trust mysterious creatures that pop out of abandoned wells....
Eventually trudging up to his room for the night, he flops onto the lumpy mattress that seems to just be hay stuffed into dusty old potato sacks. As he rustles around waiting to fall asleep, he considers all of his options... What should he do with the egg?
#paventure posting#polls#choose your own adventure#SORRY I KNOW THE TEXT OF THIS ONE IS LONG I just could not make it short#There's too much information to convey and I feel like it seems unnatural if it's too matter of fact#like if she was just like 'yeah its this. go here. do this. okay thanks'#it would feel too robotic#there has to be SOME meandering and pointless sentences that just lead into other sentences and etc. lol#BUT most of them will not be this long. I'm still majorly trying to keep a 2-3 paragraph limit#the only exceptions will probably be occasions where he actually has convesartions with people because it'd#just sound really rushed and weird to try to fit a whole full detailed conversation into like 2 paragraphs worth of text#unless they're barley saying anything to each other. but etc. etc. you know what I mean#A majority of it will be short interactions in the woods a little choices and etc. Just sometimes when there's like#some explaining a full quest or whatever obviously that needs more context#Also this one is really late because I wanted to give myself a break and not draw every single day#so I already did the writing part so I'd have it ready today but then waited to do the sketch until this mosrning#I still have that chest injury thing that flares up if I use my shoulders and arms too much. which for some reason even if#I'm only doing a quick 30 minute sketch and like an hour or less of typing - it still starts to be achey#I have to have days where I just take a break from the computer lol#ANYWAY... day 6! What to do with the mysterious egg? :0#sorry to the one person who sent an anon ask talking about how they hope he gets to talk to the musician lol#That option did not win. But - depending on how voting of things goes - we could still come across some of#the people who were in the Inn during later parts of the journey. I had kind of a vague idea of like who the hooded#figure is. the musician. the person that would have been in a stables if you tried to steal a horse. etc.#Might still never come across them though but- they do exist in the world so. always a possiblility#wowe so many typos in these tags whoops.. im not going back and retyping them either

So this is my first time asking someone something on their blog BUT I REALLY WANTED TO KNOW
How would Jolyne come into play with you Vampiric Joot au?
Does he never meet his wife? Or if he does would she know? Would this be a reason for Jotaro leaving Her and Jolyne behind?
PLEASE I NEED ANSWERS 🙏
OKAY SO
ILL ADMIT IM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT TOO
Currently the best working idea I have is something like this:
So it’s been a couple years at this point since he’d been turned, and maybe Holly gets into a minor accident. Nothing life threatening, but definitely a “oh this injury usually comes with older age” type thing and it’s enough for the full meaning of his agelessness to finally hit. Sure, normally this wouldn’t have meant much, its expected that kids outlive their parents, but knowing that the outliving is because of something unnatural, something monstrous…… well, that changes things
And this puts Jotaro in a not great mental place for a bit. After all, currently the sole reason he’s still able to live his life one day at a time is for her. And he…… genuinely doesn’t know what he would do with his life after she’s gone. Is it even worth living if she’s just going to die anyways? Should he even try??? He’s not even supposed to be alive after all, he should’ve died in Egypt
For weeks he ponders these things, walking for hours every night, leaving the house as soon as the sun is out of sight and just barely making it back when its deadly rays light the Earth once more
Sometimes he wonders what would happen if he stayed out for a bit longer
He never does, stopped only by the thought of his mother’s grief
He never really has anywhere in particular he travels to either. Anywhere he can reach and return from by the time the sun rises is fair game, and with super speed, stamina, and the ability to stop time that is very far
He finds himself drawn to tall places though. Bridges, towers, buildings, taller than average trees, you name it, he’s probably climbed it. Sometimes, when it’s abandoned and unnoticeable enough, he’ll even jump off instead of climbing down for those fleeting moments of weightlessness and freedom. Besides, it’s not like the fall’s going to kill him. At worst it’s a minor inconvenience
and what if during one of these times, he met someone.
A woman, an exchange student from America to be specific, who naturally had no idea he was immortal and thus was naturally very concerned.
Perhaps they meet a few more times. They talk, they grow closer, meet more and more and as the months pass by they even begin to fall in love
But it’s still so, so early into Jotaro’s life as a vampire. He still fears himself, still hates himself, and most importantly he fears loosing the people he loves. And that spark he began to feel for Jolyne’s mom? It terrified him
He stopped showing up after that.
Naturally and understandably, Jolyne’s mom gets pretty upset about this. Unfortunately for her though…… there isn’t really a whole lot she can do about it. She never got Jotaro’s last name, and he didn’t actually live in the area so she couldn’t just accidentally meet him again. She still tries to do some research to find him, but comes up completely empty. Eventually she gives up her search, returns to America and it’s like the whole thing never even happened
…….except for the fact that upon her return she learns that she’s now pregnant
However, unlike Giorno’s mother, she actually pays attention to and cares for her child, and thus ends up noticing Jolyne’s…… differences. The sun sensitivity, the preference for meats, sharp teeth, the slightly enhanced physical abilities, the regeneration, the list goes on and on and after a few years she is able to put together the facts and realizes her daughter is a vampire….. or at least something similar
On one hand, she’s VERY pissed that Jotaro never said anything about this and just up and disappeared on her without even a note or goodbye. However on the other, this explains so much about him and she does understand why he wouldn’t just say it, plus she doubted he knew she was pregnant(this one was technically hopeful thinking since she had no real was of knowing, and if she was proved wrong then she’d be even more pissed(dw she’s right, Jotaro has no idea))
So now she’s doing her best to raise a super natural daughter as a single mother while also doing everything in her power to keep said daughter secret and safe
Jolyne naturally knew she wasn’t “normal,” and while her mom didn’t talk about her father much(partially out of genuinely not knowing much) she was able to piece together that it mostly likely came from him. This time around she’s less bitter about him not being around enough and more about the fact that he just. Straight up doesn’t exist. Her mom admittedly does try to mitigate this, but only because of the fact that as far as she knew Jotaro had no idea Jolyne existed despite her best efforts to find him one more(again, also true Jotaro has no idea)
As for Part 6……
When Jolyne had been told she’d been sent something by her father, she’d been incredibly confused. She didn’t have a father. She still accepts the locket and it’s strange metal shard, accidentally pricking herself in the process (and minor note, unlike canon this locket doesn’t have a picture inside of it)
And then a few days when he VISITS...... she's even more surprised. She expected an older man, not someone who looked young enough to be her brother. Naturally she doesn’t trust him, she’s never even seen this man before, and technically she doesn’t even know if they’re even actually related.
The escape would go mostly the same I’d imagine, just this time with Jotaro’s gunshot wounds mostly being a distraction. He still gets his memory and Stand yoinked because of the distraction, but at least he’d not bleeding out so...... yay?
Jolyne also gets to see her comatose father begin to crumble to dust in the sun which Was Definitely An Experience
As for why Jotaro showed up and knew Jolyne existed....... honestly the best thing I got is the Foundation starting to look into Strange Possible Stand Phenomena of the past and also more of what Dio did in his spare, discovering Pucci, and somewhere in all that research learning “oh shit, Jotaro has a kid”
Why did Pucci target her? .........idk, maybe Fate did some fuckery which led to him learning before anyone else

it's bonkers bananas that people are just in your life and then suddenly for whatever reason they aren't anymore and you just have to be okay with carrying them around with you forever. do you carry me??? i'll never know and that doesn't seem fair

What,.exactly, I s house md?
Tumblr media
Medical drama show that's basically a soap opera which gets progressively more and more insane with each season with the medical drama aspect taking a backseat at times.
The summary for an episode is always something like "This guy PASSES OUT from a MYSTERIOUS ILLNESS that looks like CANCER but ISN'T and also HIS WIFE IS CHEATING ON HIM" and then the actual plot and themes of the episode are like. how much are you willing to sacrifice for knowledge. how do you deal with your fast approaching death and how much control do you really have over your life. is love truly unconditional?
Plot-wise, Gregory House (main character, I love him) is a human bundle of various issues that range from fairly common (daddy issues) to ones that make me pray for his death (uses various forms of bigotry to keep people from caring about him out of fear and emotional unavailability).
He is also a doctor who somehow gets away with an honestly staggering amount of medical malpractice because he may not be a good person, but he's a good doctor, and with the way lawsuits and medical guidelines work in-universe, he's allowed to do whatever he wants.
Also there's like. So much going on between House and Wilson. They're officially meant to be bffs, but it genuinely feels like they were set up to be a couple. Queerbaiting at its best (worst) but it's just enjoyable enough for me not to be too mad about it.
The show is a product of its time, as it ran during the 2000's and the way it handles certain topics is.... not great, but it's overall an actually good show. House is a genuinely shitty person, but there are just enough reasons for him to be that way to make him an actually interesting and fun character.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I would much rather have multiple shorter chapters than one 50 page chapter. It's just too long

hello i’ve just finished reading horcrux hunt and !!!!!!!! in ch 23 when remus is thinking about the full moon of december 1981????? and he thinks about pete????? the fuckin!! line!! about how one night a month he may feel something like forgiveness for him!??? utterly devastating i will be thinking about it from now till forever and ever amen
hi sweetie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
those couple paragraphs are literally so important to me i am !!!!! that you said this literally !!!!!!!!! smooch me
i just am obsessed with making the point that someone can do something horrible and terrible and you can hate them passionately and completely, but you can still miss them at the same time... i hope it comes across because it's just such a depressing concept to me and i love it lol. like peter ruined everything for remus he betrayed him and was responsible for the deaths of his friends and he's still ruining things, even though he's been found out and cut off and whatever, because he's ruining remus's grief by the fact that no matter how much hatred he feels for pete, he still misses him!!!! horrible horrible
anyway. that's actually where the title of the sequel came from!!!! and without giving any spoilers, the last chapter of the missing link is going to have a... idk what the right word to use is, but like, a response to that paragraph/thought/concept, if that makes sense?
either way love you forever for giving me the opportunity for a mini rant!!!!!
(the paragraphs in question are below the cut!)
Remus will never forget the full moon that fell in December of 1981; not for the rest of his life, and likely not even after his death. It’s not often that you realise the moment you’re in the middle of living will be the memory you draw your Patronus from, and perhaps even more astounding than that is the idea that something so pure and good and light could come from the part of Remus that has always been the darkest. He has long since made peace with the idea that the Wolf’s mind bled into his own, and has always known that the Marauders meant more to him than just friends – that they were pack – but it wasn’t until that night that Remus truly understood the meaning of the word. He felt connected to James and Sirius on a level so deep he felt it at his very core; the feeling of an indescribable sense of belonging, of love and trust and awareness, a bond that had once only truly belonged to the Wolf now belonging to them both.
But there was someone missing. He hadn’t realised it at the time – two minds occupying the body of the Wolf, harmonious in their happiness – but when Remus thinks back to that night and the bond that he had felt solidify and settle in his chest, he can feel the soft, wistful absence of a missing link. He hates the idea that Peter’s betrayal reaches far enough to throw a shadow over the brightest moon he’s ever seen, but the worst part of it all is that when Remus recalls the memory of the hollow space that Peter left, his melancholy tastes of longing, of yearning, and not of anger. Forgiveness is not something he feels for the rat, and yet one night a month, it seems like he may.
