#TNR Cats

So I do TNR and socialization and rehoming bc i live on a street where people witlNOT FUCKING GET THEIR CATS FIXED AND KEEP THEM INSIDE and lately I'm working on this guy, Little Big Fat. And I need you to look at him

he's easily over 15lbs and i can fit my hand in between his ears.

Still working with him and another cat, getting them litterbox trained and used to indoors before actively looking for homes

Visited Jogashima today and was pleasantly surprised by all the well cared for, TNR and slightly tubby stray cats running around. The views were also beautiful, but the cats were the highlight.

there is a special place in hell for cat owners who allow their cats to free-roam a residential neighborhood because it's ~natural~.

The amount of devastation and heartbreak I have seen from loved ones whose cats accidentally got out makes me like twice as mad too because I cannot. I cannot fathom the cruelty and selfishness required to ignore what we know to be best practice for cat husbandry because your feefees get uncomfies when people tell you it's animal abuse to wilfully, knowingly cut your cat's expected lifespan from 15-20 years to 2-3.

I don't know if you're still on the puppy!Soap train, but imagine a reader who's gotten a hysterectomy joking with friends about getting fixed/spayed and Simon/Johnny overhearing. To them it's... less of a joke. Also you know how when cats get TNR'd they do ear-tipping? Not that reader would necessarily be let back out onto the street but I feel like Simon would be a believer in clear markings.

i think johnny would faint if he heard you even jokingly talking abt him/yourself in puppy terms. like if you said you were out for a surgery and told him you were "getting fixed" when he asked, he'd be rock hard in ten seconds flat. you joke about "not wanting a litter" and he's grinding his teeth to dust to keep himself from bending you over

One of the more well-known Disney cats, because she can frequently be seen hanging out near Grizzly River Run and being admired by parkgoers. Her name is Francisco! The Disneyland Resort actively encourages these feral cats to hang around, as they help with rodent control, but will remove any that become aggressive towards people.

My first TNR (trap, neuter, return) 🐾

Siu Siu, a tiny market kitten from the veggie stall, somehow wrapped herself around my heart.

She’d just started going into heat, and with a crew of unneutered male cats nearby, I knew what was coming—more kittens I’d end up caring for.

Catching her wasn’t easy—she was smooth. But I took her in, had her neutered. After a month at the shelter, yesterday was the day I had to bring her back. Letting her go was harder than I imagined.

I hope her people see the love behind what I did—and take care of her the way she deserves.

This is Barry Bluejeans. As of noon today, he is neutered and vaccinated against FIV, FELV, and Rabies. He is the most social cat I have ever trapped. Most strays I TNR are feral and get re-released where they came from; this little duder took a week to warm up to me outside and then last night straight up walked into our house and set up shop on the cat tree in my studio. As of midnight on September 25, he has discovered laps and gives them an 8/10 so far.

This one was a lot of firsts! First time doing a bang, which was delightful. First time doing a 5+1. And first time writing from Bucky's POV. I love all of the hijinks in this. I usually write comedy that is more reliant on dialogue, so it was fun practice to get more into the situational comedy.

This fic really surprised me! I flew through the writing without much of a plan, and I ended up with some great elements I wasn't expecting. I love the banter in this one, and the chemistry between them. This Bucky ended up being an absolute doll, such a dream boat, and this Steve is prickly and hopeful, just the way I like him.

I love how very young and goofy they both feel in this pre-war fic, constantly bantering, and bickering, and tussling with each other. Bucky's moody, vulnerable, sweetness matches well with Steve's hard-headed determination and problem-solving.

URGENT (((PLEASE READ)))

I cannot stress urgency enough. A network of rescuers has worked with this caretaker for months/years to stabilize the colony. It felt like we were finally making progress, but life had another plan. Now a beloved friend and the animals she holds dear are at serious risk. She has always supported herself and valued her independence, but is now contending with a sudden and complete loss of mobility. On top of the physical disability, she is struggling with anxiety, depression, and guilt regarding her condition and the cats’ quality of life. My heart breaks when she describes the endless fear and feelings of helplessness she is living with. I believe it’s too much for any one person to bear, and I’m begging our extended community for support.

Guess who got their flea collars today? Squeaks (having never worn a collar before) has been walking on her hind legs trying to get it off. Babs is more upset with the manhandling as her old one was a pain to get off.

Bonus cat! Socks, the last on my TNR cats, was in town today and was ‘floating’ a good inch off the rusted freezer he was sleeping on. Picture does not do his magic trick justice.
