Hey guys i think i found another way to cope from hearing swear words from people whom you dont feel comfortable saying them (e.g. underage kids, parents with kids, some celebrities that started out squeaky clean in your ears but then they changed, some coworkers, etc)

Imagine them saying worse things like saying the n-word with the hard "r", and some other racial slurs along with homophobic, transphobic & ableist slurs. With their actual voices.

Since you know they won't say those IRL cuz they presumably are good people & not bigots, then you'll know they'd never say those words IRL, and you'd register that all those thoughts of them saying those things are only in your head & not in real life. You made it up. That didn’t happen. That never happened. That’s not real. They’re not real. You made it up. Keep repeating.

Then you'll find it easier now to rethink that them saying those swears are just as unreal as them saying all those slurs.

I have no beef w bridgerton fans or the show as a whole but I simply cannot forget that part of the plot is a female character raping a man by forcing him to penetrate her and it's not seen as a horrific act. like whenever I see an ad for it all I can think about is that one of the main characters rapes her husband and never has to deal with any consequences for that. tbh the way they softened it for the show (because it was much worse in the book) doesn't actually seem like an improvement given it's never actually discussed. feels much more like they just didn't want their pretty white girl heroine to be a rapist so they just made the rape slightly more ambiguous.
