"Fairytales don't tell children that dragons exist.
Children already know that dragons exist.
Fairytales tell children that dragons can be killed."

Teach Your Children - Crosby-Nash
Good morning and happy Saturday.
Today my oldest son turns 17. Nothing can make a man feel old quite like your kid's birthday. It's a good old but an old none the less. So today will be filled with cake and food and fun, can't wait to get started. Hope I don't break a hip.

what do you guys think of my lesson planning for teaching my 9 year old sister about the occupation in Palestine by Israel?
I'm like 14 and have no experience teaching, but this stuff matters to me so i want to teach my sister about it.
Is there anything I missed or anything I should do?
and no i'm not trying to deny her any childhood innocence, i'm trying to teach her that there are things in the world that are bigger than us, and that there are ways we can help. i don't want her to find out on her own and feel helpless about this. that's what the protest and liberation part is, to teach her how historically people have fought against things and how we can play a part in the bigger picture

Imagine the moment a parent sits down with their child, my Hebrew 1 workbook open, and together they begin to explore the beautiful world of letters.
The child's eyes widen with wonder as they trace their first aleph, and the parent smiles, knowing they're passing down a timeless tradition. It's more than just learning an alphabet—it's connecting generations, sharing culture, and sparking a lifelong love for language.
Every letter learned is a step closer to understanding, to belonging, to embracing a rich heritage. What a gift to give, and what a journey to start together. 🌟
I am beyond blessed to know I am a part of so many of these stories. For any age learner. ❤️
Thank you for sharing these pictures and moments with me. It fuels my passion.

Authority vs. Conscience...
I heard this story once about a teacher who took a fish out of its bowl & left a classroom of children as it flopped around.. telling them that if anyone left their seat, they would be expelled. All of the children sat and watched as this fish flopped gasping for air, not wanting to get up in order to avoid getting in trouble. Finally, a girl sprang up from her seat & ran to the fish, placing it back in the bowl. Ultimately, she was the only one who refused to watch the fish die.
When the teacher returned he told the class that this was a lesson. That the fear of getting in trouble should never stop you from doing what's right. That sometimes.. you may have to oppose authority & group think, simply because it's the right thing to do.
I think of this often.
