Ω PJO DEMIGOD HEADCANONS:💀 PERSEPHONE: QUEEN OF THE UNDERWORLD, GODDESS OF SPRING, THE DEAD, THE UNDERWORLD, GRAIN, AND NATURE 💐 (PART 2)
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is PART 2 of the Persephone Demigod Headcanons. Due to the size limit of Tumblr, I had to split the entire work into two. [LINK TO PART 1 HERE] Hi everyone! It took me a bit to figure it out but here's what everyone has been waiting for! Persephone is just 1 out of the 4 works I have planned and written for, and these works will be categorized as the MISCELLANEOUS GODS due to not the fact these gods are minor or anything, but because I did mention this in an ask before and it's easier to think about due to the canon PJO worldbuilding. These works will be a bit more loose since I'm taking a shot in the wild so hopefully you guys like it. Thanks for reading!!
You can summon the dead as much as the children of Hades, but there’s a keypoint where you can reanimate, revive the dead under some certain circumstances: like bringing back life to dead flowers by imparting your own power, but they're still destined to die because that is the cycle of nature after all. With living beings, it’s much more different the more complex and messier it gets. Animals are sort of allowed, but human beings? That’s a big no-no. It is the quickest and most instantaneous way to make Hades incinerate you on the spot, or make the earth swallow you beneath your feet. He already did that to Aslepius, who was so good at medicine he could revive the dead. You may be Persephone’s child and Hades’ may be lenient with you, but you’re still bound to the sacred mortal laws like everything. Even if you can’t revive (human) life, don’t even think of trying.
Don’t be surprised if you are more in tune and affected by seasonal changes. Given how Persephone is connected with the changing of seasons, you have Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer aspects. What each season means to you will depend on from when you were born and furthering back from it. The children of Hecate are a good support group for this and normalise it.
You can’t be gluten free or allergic to pollen. If you were, you aren’t now once you’re claimed. Not under Persephone’s (and Demeter’s) watch. It’ll literally go against everything that is them. You’ll also have a great love of mint, particularly munching on mint leaves. You don’t know why until you learn about the story of Minthe; a nymph that Hades pursued before Persephone faced her wrath.
Between Demeter and Persephone,, you’re going to eat so much grains; particularly whole wheat. Even if you’re not a big fan of it, you’re conditioned to eat it and tolerate it. If you don’t eat whole wheat or whole grains every so often, you’ll feel something is missing from your diet and you’ll be craving it bitterly.
I think being a child of Persephone makes you an exception to seeing your godly parent due to some loophole. You’re kind of obligated to go visit Persephone for the Winter and Spring equinox; in Winter, you’ll also have to meet Hades. On the plus side, the Winter visits allows you and Hades to get to know one another and minimizes any animosity the Lord of the Underworld may have towards you. You’ll also get to know Nico, Hazel, and possibly any other children of Hades/Pluto along the way with the Winter Equinox visits.
Surprisingly, Mr. D gives some sympathy and help coming to terms with the whole unusual birth thing. Anytime you have a panic or existential crisis, Mr. D is there waiting with a can of diet coke waiting for you. Chiron may also be there for those sessions if so required.
Cabin wise at Camp Half-Blood will have to erect a Persephone cabin/temple now you’re here. In the early beginning, you’re going between the Demeter cabin or the Hades cabin until they build a cabin. The reason it’s taking so long because with Persephone, it is also prompting a possible Amphitrite cabin also along the way just to be fair because Hera has her already, then there’s Persephone, and then that also leaves the last of the Big Three’s Wives: Amphitrite. It’s less on the building part that is the problem, but the future ramifications that everyone is debating and preparing for; a storm that has yet to come.
If there’s a Child of Hera when you’ve arrived and been claimed or during your time at camp, you’re both automatically sticking with each other in solidarity based on the whole impossible child scenario, and children of Queens. You’re also both talking with each other and being discussed with is there going to be a chance of a demigod child of Amphitrite in the future. (though very unlikely at the moment due to the fact she is Nereids, and there hasn’t been any evidence that she has any interest in mortal men*)
You’re guided to Camp Halfblood and chaperoned by your step sibling and son of Hades, Nico di Angelo. You have had 3 to 6 months to get to know him, and him knowing, coming to terms, and being quickly forced to acclimate to your existence. With a favour from Hades and a gently enforced command by Persephone, he was to accompany you to Camp Halfblood. It was less because of the threat of monsters, with the company you’re keeping, but more so as “emotional and physical support”. Seeing as you couldn’t be accompanied by the Lampades, the nymphs of the Underworld, Nico was the best next option (read: Nico is being told to accompany you in a political move to solidify your position and enforce your presence).
When you get claimed, you come on the cusp of Winter and Spring. The bare naked trees that are covered with snow disappear as yellow-green bright leaves begin to take over the branches with flower buds blossoming. The snow melts away into water, seeping into the earth below you, with fuzzy grass peeking out. It carpets underneath you with flowers sprouting underneath you, the first flowers of spring of Crocus, Snowdrops, Daffodils, with the appearance of butterflies and robins fluttering around you.
Two birds drop down to put a crown of thorns, twisting around to resemble a deer’s horns, setting upon your head, menacing as the winter light casts a menacing shadow, before the claim of Persephone of the Pomegranate appears, glowing brightly. The crown begins to sprout flowers along with the bare trees and plantations into your favourite flowers.
Everyone looks at you in changing confusion, fear, awe, and then disbelief and realisation. You see some people’s eyes, their auras distinct as they look at Nico for answers who sighs before steps forward and clear his throat, his scratchy throat sounding like bare branches rubbing against each other yet loud like a tree falling in a quiet forest. “I, Nico di Angelo, Son of Hades, present the child of Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, Goddess of the Dead, Grains, Spring, and Nature. Hail (F/n) (L/n), their eminence of the seasons.”
Silence takes over like the winter wind before everyone screams with uproar, with minor voices yelling “NOT AGAIN”.

The Goddess of Spring
I’m so happy to be a part of The Goddess of Spring Reanimated! I used gouache and acrylic paint for the background while the actual animating is all digital! I wanted to emulate what they did back in the day but unfortunately some of the paint came out weird when it was scanned so I had to touch it up with Paint tool sai
Their twitter page is currently down so I’ll link it here when it’s up again!

Notes on Zonai Culture
Worship of the Golden Goddesses is central to Zonai religion.
Each tribe has a major city. Each major city has a temple to each goddess, with their patron goddess having the biggest temple.
Smaller towns will have a temple to their goddess, and shrines for the other two.
Town centers are catacombs called Grafensted (singular)/Grafensteda (plural), where the dead are interred. People hold celebrations, funerals, and ceremonies there.
The Zonai believed that in the distant past, Dohmos invaded the Sacred Realm. To save the spirits there, the Golden Goddesses created a bridge to Hyrule, allowing the spirits to escape. One day, the Goddesses will rally the spirits to drive out the influence of Dohmos and purify the Sacred Realm. This is one reason why the Zonai focus on honing their abilities as warriors; they want to be ready to fight for the Sacred Realm in the afterlife. Until then, the spirits of the dead remain invisible but present throughout Hyrule, and can manifest as spirit flames.
To be unburied is a great dishonor. Criminals are punished by being unburied. They are hung and left out for beasts to pick at their remains.
When warriors grow old and are no longer capable of fighting well, they become shamans. One of the duties of the shamans is to determine where unburied corpses have been reanimated by malignant spirits (stalnox, stalkoblin, stalblin, stalizalfos, etc.) and send warriors to destroy the corpses by beating them apart and burning the remains in spirit fire.
When young men come of age, they are sent to kill a boar and bring it back for a celebration. This event is one of the only circumstances in which it is permissible for Zonai to eat the flesh of a pig-like creature. When warriors in times of peace desire to achieve glory, they will get permission to go on a lynel hunt. In this hunt, they must slay the beast alone. From this lynel’s bones and hide, they will craft their own armor, including a gambeson dyed in the color of their tribe, and a helm formed from its skull and mane. These fighters are henceforth called “wolf warriors.”
All Zonai armor is similar in appearance, save that those who have not been on a lynel hunt cannot wear a skull and mane. The shoulder pads of their armor are designed to be adjustable to signify changes in rank.
Rabbit - Sergeant
Fox - Lieutenant
Badger - Captain
Lion - Major
Bear - Colonel
Lynel - General
Wolf - Specialized force
The Zonai train their men in a variety of weapons and test their mettle in tribal tournaments during celebrations of the Goddesses throughout the year. There are three tournaments in which all three tribes come together. At the halfway point between each, the two tribes whose patron Goddesses’ celebration is on either side of the tournament participate.
Day of Din: All three, held in the Boar capital, Mokhtis, at the beginning of spring.
Between Din and Farore: Boar, Dragon
Day of Farore:All three, held in the Dragon capital, Orthon, at the peak of summer.
Between Farore and Nayru: Dragon, Owl
Day of Nayru: All three, held in the Owl capital, Uhlenom, in the middle of autumn.
Between Nayru and Din: Owl, Boar
Before a battle, Zonai warriors will gather to pray in their local Grafensted. After prayers to each of the Golden Goddesses, they address their ancestors personally for their blessing in the fight to come. Then they apply ceremonial warpaint bearing the symbol of each Goddess and other designs varying by tribe, in the color that represents their patron Goddess (a warrior of Farosh will wear green paint, etc.) The war paint will cover the entire body, but in battle, only the paint on the face and knees is visible. The purpose of the paint is to signify the protection and blessing of the ancestors, not necessarily to intimidate foes. This ritual is called the Skeldrite.
During the summer months, the young men of the Zonai take the herds up into the mountains to graze while women, children, and the elderly tend fields below. In the winter, they stable the herds that remain after the year’s slaughter and live solely in their villages, working together to weather the winter.
To call someone “unburiable,” “fit to be hung,” means that, in your eyes, they hold no honor and are unworthy of sacred rites. “Flameless” and “unworthy in the spirits’ eyes” are other grave insults, along with “Poespeaking,” “Droopshield,” “twigarmed” “deadigger/deadigging.”
“Hang it/them/him/her,” “hanged,” “hanging” are Zonai curses and is considered profane.
“Skinned,” “Lerk,” and “Lerkin” are other Zonai curses.
“By the Dragons,” “By the Wolf,” “By the Guardian” are similar to “My goodness,” “By gosh,” etc.
Zonai language is inspired by Old English and other proto-Indo-European languages.

Hi there! I wanna ask about the ressurection in mdsz. I am from a dharmic religious background and as I understand, resurrection involves binding the soul to the corpse using resentment which comes from bad (for lack of a better word) karma. This must really mess up the reincarnation cycle and ultimately the path to nirvana right? So, what would this mean for corpses brought back by wwx&wrh, especially for WN, song lan & nmj? Are WN and song lan effectively immortal? Thx in advance 😄.
Hi! Apologies for the long answer delay, these are very interesting questions and I needed to do some research and digging around as Chinese spiritual beliefs are such a complex subject! I’ll only lay out some broad strokes as a more in-depth analysis would be way beyond the scope of my knowledge ^^' Of course, if I get anything wrong, please do correct me!
As you mention Wen Ruohan, may I make the assumption that you were acquainted with MDZS through the live action? His interest in demonic cultivation as well as the Yin metal subplot were unique to Chenqingling and the live action also made a number of changes like replacing the reanimated corpses by “puppets” due to strict censorship laws that ban the portrayal of a great many things including supernatural aspects. My answer is primarily based on the framework of the novel but in this case it should still apply to the live action!
Systems of beliefs and practices in China tend not be mutually exclusive but intertwined, they find their roots in a number of spiritual/philosophical/religious movements, the main of which being Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and folk religion.
Chinese folklore has a long history of ghost tales and modern fantasy cultivation novels are one more facet of that tradition, corpses reviving and ghosts coming back to haunt the living are considered to be fairly “natural” occurrences, “natural” in the sense that they are relatively commonplace. Exorcising malevolent beings to protect common folk is the bread and butter of the average cultivator and that’s how the story starts out with the Gusu Lan disciples being tasked by the Mo family to eliminate some walking corpses.
It seemed that Mo village had not been peaceful of late. Walking corpses which were dead people able to move around as their name implied were rather low-level and frequently seen creatures that came from transformed corpses. In general, their gaze was lifeless and their gait slow. They were not particularly threatening but they were enough to scare away common folk as their sole putrid stench could make one vomit. (ch.3)
Ghosts, walking corpses and even fierce corpses are a common nuisance that can arise from a variety of causes: an unnatural death, lingering resentment, lack of proper rituals for the funeral and so on. For instance, there’s a fierce corpse paying a visit to a person that wronged him in life in the gate-crashing extra (ch.120-123).
Concerning the place of religion in the world of MDZS, we know that the ancestor of the Gusu Lan Sect, Lan An, was originally Buddhist monk who left his temple to lead a secular life and then founded a Sect. His descendants uphold practices that originate from their ancestor such as studying Buddhist scripture. However, cultivators are not shown to be particularly pious, they do not worship deities or hold religious festivals, that’s the domain of the common folk: the worship of the local stone goddess or the attendees of the Guanyin temple (even though it was built by Jin Guangyao). The practices that cultivators observe do not fall under one particular religious denomination, they are part of the ubiquitous rituals related to filial piety such as ancestor worship. It’s also worthwhile to note that the purpose of cultivation comes is essentially taoist: to refine the self and prolong one’s lifetime. In more high fantasy settings (MDZS is described as low fantasy xianxia by the author), this ultimate goal is to attain immortality which would be at odds with Buddhist beliefs to reach nirvana.
The worlds created in wuxia and xianxia genre are rife with references to Buddhist, Taoist, Confucian beliefs and practices but as we can see these different influences cohabit together. The topic of the afterlife in MDZS lore is not really broached, the author mentions in an interview that while Wei Wuxian was dead, the remains of his consciousness was stuck in some sort of unending nightmare. Some other poor souls wander the earth, unable to pass on without the assistance of a cultivator. Elsewhere, in chapter 125, Wei Wuxian recalls suspecting an old man fiercely guarding his lotus lake to be the reincarnation of lotus spirit because of his uncanny tendency to know exactly when a lotus pilferer (Wei Wuxian) is nearby. In chapter 86, a cultivator surmises that Wen Ruohan must be fuming from Jin Guangyao’s betrayal in the Netherworld (referred to as the Nine Springs in Chinese). And then you have the memorial tablets in the ancestral halls that are traditionally said to house the deceased’s soul. As there is no single answer, what lies beyond the veil of death remains a bit of a mystery. It’s possible that there is a mix of all these different beliefs just like in folk religion. Upon death, a soul might linger in the mortal world or go straight to the Netherworld where it will be judged (ancient China being the precursor of bureaucracy, their idea of the afterlife is also very bureaucratic with different Courts to punish evildoers). Should the soul be found guilty, it will remain for a time in the Netherworld to be punished and to atone for its crimes and then move on the cycle of reincarnation.
After this long-winded introduction to spirituality in MDZS-verse, I’m finally coming back to your questions. Demonic cultivation does not grant Wei Wuxian powers over life and death. The corpses he raises and controls are those that are already brimming with resentful energy and already possess the latent potential to arise on their own. Nie Mingjue belongs to the same category although he became a more dangerous fierce corpse. Corpses such as him will remain as they are until they are quelled. In Lan Qiren’s lesson, Lan Wangji enumerates the accepted ways to deal with such a corpse:
蓝忘机并不去看魏无羡,颔首示礼,淡声道:“度化第一,镇压第二,灭绝第三。先以父母妻儿感之念之,了其生前所愿,化去执念;不灵,则镇压;罪大恶极,怨气不散,则斩草除根,不容其存。玄门行事,当谨遵此序,不得有误。”
Without sparing a glance to Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji nodded and bowed, he intoned, “First, liberation. Second, suppression. Third, extermination. Appeal first to the deceased’s attachment to his kin, achieve the desires they could not whilst they were living, release them from the fetters binding them to this world. If that method proves ineffective, proceed with suppression. The more grievous the crimes, the more difficult it is to dissipate resentful energy. In this case, it is thus necessary to exterminate them completely and not leave a shred remaining. This is the protocol of the cultivation world and must be observed scrupulously and undeviatingly. (ch.14)
Wen Ning and Song Lan are different from these mindless, violent corpses as they were able to regain consciousness through advanced techniques of demonic cultivation. They are effectively immortal but destructible. As the author said, how long they may live depends on proper maintenance!

whos up for a
✨COMPLICATED LUMENIA LORE POST ✨
i know, i know, try to contain the excitement
theres... a big spoiler in here but i cant figure out how to talk about this without it lmao so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i dont think it rly matters to anyone anyway but the section its in is marked. this is still a work in progress but here it is anyway
All soul collectors (and familiars) have two alignments: life or death and light or darkness
these do Not mean “good” and “evil” however, and all collectors have some connection to them all (and magic can be learned, as well)
--
Life aligned are often immensely powerful, but at times difficult to control without proper focus and discipline. They have high stamina and heal quickly, often have skill with healing and protection magic. Often have very high magic levels. They are often able to create small forms of life, with lesser sentience - such as Venus’s plants, Chris’s robots, Mayzie’s sugarsprites, etc. Shuri is an exception - she is a Death aligned, but studied extensively under Mother’s guidance and has learned (and even mastered) Life magic. Life magic at that level (creating forms of life) is inaccessible to humans, though some Antis in very rare circumstances can use it (though creating sentience is only possible to soul collectors). Lumeni who are not soul collectors often have life magic as well, but do not have the power that soul collectors have. Creating little motes to help out around the house (which disappear after a while) is a fairly common ability, but creating a lasting, real living creature with sentience would not be possible for those who are not soul collectors.
Death aligned generally cannot make life (at least not without extensive training), but are very perceptive and empathetic, often skilled in divination and prone to visions or premonitions. They are very good at communicating with the dead - all soul collectors can do this, of course, and all can see ghosts (thats. Their Job) but Death aligned are particularly good at it, and often will pick up lost or abandoned souls that were not claimed by their collectors (either through unusual circumstances, negligence, or whatever the case may be) or will take over for others when dealing with particularly volatile souls. Souls of children are often transferred to Death aligned as well. Humans with Death magic in them can almost always see (or at least sense) ghosts. Premonitions and visions are common as well, often stronger in Antis. Most Antis can see or sense ghosts regardless of alignment, but Death aligned will have greater skill (and a better sense for the situation - a Death aligned Anti or human will be much more likely to figure out what an angry spirit wants, while a Life aligned might be able to see it, but not know what it is trying to communicate). Death aligned tend to have a higher comprehension of Time and Mortality.
i havent sorted out Light and Dark as clearly yet, but
Light energy is very strong and focused; can be difficult to control, especially in children, but can become highly powerful when used correctly. Often very physical, such as manipulating environments or elements. not well defined yet
Dark energy is chaotic and often destructive, frequently involves psychic abilities or altering the flow of time in small ways. also not well defined yet. probably even more undefined right now, :’)
---
All soul collectors have these alignments, again, they all have a little of everything but will naturally be drawn to one side or the other in both aspects, and the abilities they have also depends a lot on what they study and what they practice.
Familiars will almost always have the same alignment as their masters, but often will mirror in one aspect and have different tendencies in the other (like, SC has Light/Death, familiar has Light with Life tendencies, etc), and the souls in a collector’s possession will often have traces of the same alignments as their collector. this manifests in really weird ways with antis sometimes. more on that later
Soul collectors are born from eggs that form in an underground spring, drawn from the magic in the planet’s core (which is why their magic levels are so much higher than anyone else on their planet - other Lumeni bear children the same as humans. They are deeply affected by the planet’s core, but not born from it)
there’s a lot of debate as to whether this is a strictly natural occurrence, or if the core has some kind of sentient will to intentionally create the eggs (or, if this core is possibly controlled by some higher being) (or if the core IS a higher being)
the First Egg was a twin egg - a single egg containing two collectors (and their two familiars), this being Rachna and Shivari (who would later come to be known as the Great Mother)
these two represent a perfect balance of the alignments - Rachna as Death and Darkness, Shivari as Light and Life. Again, not “good and evil” - there’s no evil twin (and they’re not remotely identical either lmao) and no conflict between them, they work Together, always, neither of them ever takes action without consulting the other first
their familiars mirror them, “Muffin” is also Death/Darkness, and Jacinda is also Light/Life
Twin eggs are not exactly “siblings” the way humans think of them - they can look drastically different and have very different powers/attributes/skills, but will usually see themselves as akin to siblings
Shivari created, over time, all the plant life on Lumenia. the legend goes that she also created all the animals and the first Lumeni themselves, but she won’t confirm it either way. she probably did not create the lumeni, though, in any case
Lumeni look up to her as their high queen, and some worship her as a mother goddess as well; she has temples across the planet
Rachna is said to be the first to have realized the ability to create Underworlds and the whole system of soul collection and judgement. The extent to which this is actually true is unclear, but probably more likely than the “mother created lumeni” theory.
*** this is the part where the spoilers happen ***
the second egg was another twin egg - this time containing an unbalanced pair: Kadri and Nahbi. Kadri is a necromancer - she is simultaneously Life and Death at once, with Dark energy. Nahbi was Death aligned, with both Light and Dark at once, and therefore incredibly powerful, but very, very dangerous though he never intended to be.
Nahbi is dead. The story goes that he was murdered by an Anti, but the truth may be that he was in fact destroyed by his own power (which destroyed his familiar in the process, and destroyed the Anti’s body). He has a statue in the tomb beneath Mother’s temple garden, but is rarely ever spoken of now. Kadri cannot talk about him without getting extremely distressed. Not many people know about him at all.
after that, the core produced another egg - this time, the first single egg, containing Kali and Dasa, a Death/Darkness aligned pair, though Kali has some light tendencies as well. This is said to have been the universe attempting to rebalance itself again after the last egg. They were the first born without a twin, which possibly may have influenced their eventual decision to join together - a sense of missing a twin that never was.
*** ok the spoilers are over ***
Shivari, Rachna, Kadri, and Kalidasa are known today as “The Ancient Ones.” They are the only collectors hatched from single eggs forming one at a time - after this, the core began producing batches of several eggs at once in varying amounts, now referred to as “cycles.” The new cycles are highly varied and much more balanced, though twin eggs have become increasingly rare.
----
alignments and notes about them if i have them but this is already getting to be way longer than it needs to be. also some mentions of their souls where i remember them bc i dont want to look up who everyone was assigned to right now lmao
Shivari (”Mother”) || Life/Light --- Jacinda || Life/Light
- Bee and Dan are both Mother’s souls, both tending toward Life/Light too
Rachna || Death/Darkness --- (the unspeakable name only the ancients can pronounce) (”Muffin”) || Death/Darkness
- Lex has a high Death alignment; he’s good with ghosts and has a very strong sense for bad vibes and such. sometimes gets premonitions about things, not straight up visions of the future but just strong “I really should not do this” or “something bad is going to happen if I do that” or “there’s bad energy in here something really bad happened here” senses. his origin has it too but denies it violently and thinks its influences of the devil - which might be why lex trusts it and embraces it, as her opposite
Kadri || Life-Death/Darkness --- Skrab || Death / Darkness
Kadri is an exception: she has a command of both Life and Death. Her powers are in fact weak necromancy - she can’t literally bring someone back from the dead (though it might not be impossible), but she can reanimate corpses and create skeletal minions with lesser forms of sentience. any zombies or skeletons she creates do not have souls and will just go back to being dead once she stops powering them, they’re basically just puppets, but a lot of collectors (especially Death aligned) think this is a complete abomination just on principle. kadri does not care. she has not spent any time honing her Death magic skills, so her ability with time/divination/etc is basically nonexistent even though the potential is there
- kadri’s souls tend to be especially chaotic because of that power imbalance and that’s why we have people like laelia
Kalidasa || Death/Darkness
Venus || Life/Darkness --- Dahlia || Death/Darkness
Celina || Death/Darkness with some Light tendencies --- Cesare || Death/Darkness
Shuri || Death/Light, with Life tendencies brought out through study --- Stasia || Life/Light
- dreyden has death alignment but is completely oblivious to it. he could probably see a ghost but wouldn’t notice it at all, or wouldn’t notice it was a ghost. he thinks he just has really bizarre luck sometimes and has no idea whatsoever that its often actually premonition - “i got off at Brookton because i just felt like it i guess, i dunno” actually ended up being the place he met his future boyfriend, made the best friends he’s ever had, finally found a place to live, etc, but he would never even consider “I had a premonition about this place” as like, even a Possibility
- Skye seems like the last person you’d expect to have a Death alignment but he actually definitely does; he’s incredibly empathetic and sensitive to the energy and emotions around him, he can see ghosts, he’s had actual direct prophetic dreams before, he trusts instincts when he gets them because they’re usually right. He also has a very high Light affinity. this manifested COMPLETELY backwards with damian, possibly Because skye’s alignment is so solid and strong - damian’s powers are literally darkness, and despite being a piece of shit murderer obsessed with death, he actually has basically no skill with Death magic at all. he’s barely aware of ghosts. he acts on impulse and self interest, he ignores Vibes and Energy because he feels he’s above it and knows best himself regardless. he has No empathy. he loves to kill but he does not understand death. he doesn’t see himself as a person who can die. the dead want nothing to do with him
Chris || Life/Light --- Phoebe || Life/Light
chris doesn’t seem to match his alignment - telekinesis seems like it’d be a Dark magic, but it’s actually highly physical, you can actually see it manifesting as light in his eyes when he uses it, and it’s all about physically manipulating objects in his environment. He cares very deeply about his souls and has learned to communicate well with the dead, but struggles to connect emotionally in a way that makes sense to others around him. He cares fiercely, intensely, with everything in his being; he stores collected souls in a mechanism he integrated in with his own actual physical heart, but he has a very difficult time expressing and showing it, so he still often comes across as distant and emotionally oblivious, especially to Death aligned people
- Gavin and Kayzee both have strong Light tendencies too. kayzee especially is a definite Life person
Mayzie || Life/Darkness with some Light tendencies
mayzie is very very very bad at Death magic, which is. probably a big reason she dropped out of her training
#our eyes of glass#this is so much lmao i had to get it out somewhere though#hi i havent been writing for like an entire year but i think its starting to come back a little

The historic statues and idols of Gods and Goddesses were self-portraits of the reverent human qualities they saw echoed in the heavens. The 12 zodiacs each personifying a force they deemed to be worshipped. Our lives have changed dramatically since human beings were viewed in this light, but we are still performing these divine acts that we once deemed as deities in one another
Aries: In Aries they saw The Heroine with the Spiritual Fire burning within her mind. The manifestation of Divine Will, the ones familiar with supreme power and wisdom, willing to risk everything. They saw the Great Imaginer who directly received visions from beyond, and they saw a feminine erotica and rage that could burst things into flames. They saw the Voyager and the clever strategist who seemed to be directly in tune with the will of God leading them into new lands, battles, and seas. Aries was the one capable of leading their nation, the one who mediated and counselled the masculine and the feminine. They were the ones with the Spirit of Spring that reanimated life and demonstrated the possibility of life after death.
Taurus: In Taurus they saw the ones who the choir of angels used as an instrument. They saw the Empress of Nirvana, the ones who wrote the cosmic tune. The ones who flowing in the rhythm of nature, performing sorcery playing with the colours, minerals and materials of earth, personifying the image of Divine Beauty. They saw the carries of the Womb of Consciousness in the cerebellum in which Taurus rules, and conveys the Divine Feminine Language. In this, they saw the very Cosmogonic Principle itself, the clairaudient personification of The Ancestral Mother of All Life, unconditionally providing the agriculture that sustains life like only a parent could.
Gemini: In Gemini they saw the inventor of words and thus The Magician, Enchanted Writer, the Storytelling Sage, The Teacher mediating between Heaven and Earth who could cast spells with the symbols of alpha within the consciousness of others, the one whose mind was so illuminated it was like a golden helmet. They saw the playfully Eternal Divine Child whose mercurial wand bought much joy to all cosmic beings. They saw the ones who were light footed astral beings, capable of sending their heavenly messages through any medium as The Psychopomps, the Cosmic Mind with resolved duality. They saw the patrons who bought the wisdom of the heavens to earth and the dispensers of astrology, alchemy, and the Word of God
Cancer: In Cancer they saw the Mystic Midwife and Mother Goddess who helped bring life into the world and also soothe the pain of labour. They saw the anointed being that had no earthly source, whose origin could not be traced. They saw the Guardian of the Lunar Rays who communicated with the Moon, spirit guides, passed ancestors, the creators and maintainers of kairos or spirit’s time, and the witches who conducted the forces of nature to practice ritual, divination, pharmacy, with inherited prophecy and ability to move the seas with the tides, protected by an army of crossed souls who guarded them. They saw the personification of Matriarchal Consciousness, who carried the Cosmic Womb, the umbilical cord into dreamtime and the feminine soul, the ones capable of delivering prophecies from dream and fantasy
Leo: In Leo they saw the Heroine and the Princess of Light who won the battle for the sun, the Angel of Abyss who was plunged into the darkness to provide life. The one with the highest willpower possible to slay the demon in a nightly ceremony, the one who placed the Sun in its zenith. The early morning amber glow was their declaration that Leo war has been won and the day is for worshiping their Sun within They saw the pure essence of God suffer inside human flesh to provide the evolutionary earth experience. In Leo they saw the Lion, the King of the Jungle roaming and commanding in their gracious sovereignty, glorifying God and His Rule in every movement. They saw the Children of the Fire that ignited the pure Divine Spirit. They saw the ones carried by heavenly carriages, glorifying the possibilities of the universe
Virgo: In Virgo they saw the Queen of Heaven carrying the womb of cosmic space that holds the Divine Mother’s intelligence. They saw the illumination of wisdom, the instrument of cosmic creation - The Sole Creator, the ones who disappear into the darkness to wield the sole Divine inner love that makes spiritual enlightenment possible. They saw the transformer of sexual energy into creative spirit, the Inner Mary. They saw the Invisible Mind, The Word of Sophia, the word of the Goddess and sacred, ancient, secret symbols made flesh. They saw the Sainted Healer with the Mother’s knowledge of her mineral earth, the one who activated curing properties as nature passes through her hands.
Libra: In Libra they saw the Priestess soaked in the love of God, the divine’s highest artistry of God in its most idyllic and material form, a personification of the Feminine Principle and moving performance of artistry and right sided creativity, sensitivity, and inclusivity. They saw the ones who had the knowledge of cosmic karma and naturally dispersed this in daily affairs, in doing so maintaining the balance of universal order, the ones who ordered the seasons and nature and maintained astrology. They saw the ones with the mind residing the Library of Feminine Teachings, the captivating ones capable of bewitching all in presence, the personification of the angel, the one on the Threshold between Universal and Personal Self, The Enchanted Mirror that cosmic forces flow and mix into experimenting with the possibility of beauty
Scorpio: In Scorpio they saw the creative visionary who glorified God in solitary hiding, the one who had manifested the power of the Magical Serpent. They saw someone who seemed to have access to knowledge and wisdom from unseen worlds and beings, the ones who accessed the door into the underworld, and possessed such glorious inner wealth it could only be remarked as treasure. This is why they were hidden away, they seemed to be special, and Progenies of Internal counsel from Higher Beings. They were the ones who carried the knowledge of other realms, had the ability to read and interpret historic symbols, life after death, and the secret knowledge of immortality. The were ones sought out for their wisdom, their guidance, their experiences - especially for those in the process of death, considered Spirit Midwifes, Pharmacists, Sorcerers, or Healers.
Sagittarius: In Sagittarius they recognised a vast spectrum of light and supreme cosmic vitality. They saw the personification of wisdom and the Teacher who voyaged through many lands to declare the word. They saw the grandest gesture of the universe in one apparition, one worthy of superior worship for their transcendence, knowledge and implementation of spiritual law, and being cloaked in the sacred purple garments. It is for this reason they channeled and called upon the Sagittarius energy during meditation They saw the Guru and Master of Philosophy who had died and risen again, the ones who carried the akashic record that wrote and conserved the law of higher mind mythology and practices. They saw the powerful beings capable of wielding lightning, and one who received many blessings resulting from good past life karma.
Capricorn: In Capricorn they saw the ones who seemed to create, own, and control time. They saw the ones whose leadership bought the Golden Age, they saw the Chosen Ones with the wisdom and divinity to lead the young initiates. They saw ones with a Higher Purpose that demonstrated the ultimate glory of human, and they saw the Alchemist who transmuted lead into gold. They saw the Higher Being who rose after being summoned by the Prince of Darkness and rode on the rays of this rising sun to ascend up the mountain, the one who built the great cities in heaven down on earth, the ones who played the cosmic flute and harmonised the planetary orbit spheres. They saw the Crone, the Elder who had lived many lives, the ancient Priestess who visited towns to perform healing acts and enlightenment with the Teachings of all Ages
Aquarius: In Aquarius they saw a gift to humanity from heaven, the ones that seemed to drink from the enchanted fountain of youth with an energy for life that seemed almost otherworldly. They saw the ones that bore water above their illuminated minds and seemed to heal the unwell and elderly, young beings with old souls. In Aquarius they saw the Child of Mother Earth who frolicked amongst the flowers and bought the rain clouds. They wondered if Aquarians had wings, because they seemed to teleport and bring back ideas from other realms, holding the nectar that cleansed, ascended, and illuminated their followers. They saw the Awakeners, the ones with the caduceus spine, the ones who had the indwelling knowledge of secret cosmic realms, the ones who materialised angelic ideas
Pisces: In Pisces they saw the effeminate Divine Child who was mystical, a descendent of Atlantis, and had a life and afterlife with a special destiny who was a conduit of special and higher teachings from secret places and beings. They saw the energy that flowed through their bodies and evoked every sensory experience through dance and art as the great cosmic muse. They saw the Wanderer through temples, intoxicants, and invisible realms to find the path home, they saw the whole Spiritual Sea in a single drop, the Holy one capable of salvation. They saw the Healer, the Nurse who sourced the magic of nature, faith, and indwelling forces to cure. They worshiped Pisces as The Priestess who existed simultaneously in both worlds, the ones who carried the memories of heaven and stories of collective past lives along their feet.

A few late Mother’s Day headcanons in general ( as I was quite occupied yesterday and the day before ) - about Diana, Clementine’s own mother, as she has no backstory in canon at all - so have this instead!
Diana Cree, affectionately nicknamed Dee, DeeDee, or Di, was a woman who faced the world without fear, she took her life in stride and from a young age, she was a confident, proud and intelligent young woman with a heart of gold. She lived her life to the fullest and desired to live a life without regrets regardless of what anyone else may have told her, as growing up, racism against the black community was far more severe than usual in her neighborhood of Savannah, Georgia. Dee grew up in a Black and Asian household, and thus, the culture clash was something she’s been conflicted with in her adolescence, until she learned to accept that it was perfectly okay being descended from both races ( although her family were mostly of African descent. )
Diana adored music, love, the occult and the arts, something that her daughter would later inherit. She loved to watch classical movies and dream of all the beautiful things that could come her way, and she was quite the artist, as well. Clementine recalls her painting flowers and beautiful landscapes before placing her portraits on her bedroom walls. Diana was also a Pagan and Afro Witch and named Clementine after Clementia, the Roman goddess of clemency, leniency, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, penance, redemption, absolution and salvation, and not the fruit, on the contrary to popular belief.
Diana fell in love with her future husband Edmund DeCaruso in her highschool years after she’d managed to pull him out of a local mafia and had stitched him up in a room in the Marsh House after he’d been shot. Edmund was once a member of a gang in town and with Diana’s love and support, he grew to stray from this life and fell in love with the girl who sang him sweet lullabies in his ear as he slowly fell asleep. Clementine can still faintly remember her lullabies, she often hears her voice in her head while lulling her to sweet slumber when she is too tired to carry on. Clementine can no longer remember her face nor her name, but she faintly recognizes her lovely voice, as smooth as honey, and the lullabies she would sing to her whenever she’d have nightmares. Diana and Edmund graduated together and went on to college and then university together, a strong and powerful pair in their own right, and later, with love and acceptance, they married and spent their honeymoon at the Marsh House in Savannah. When Diana became pregnant with Clementine, she was truly ecstatic and so very happy that she was having a baby. She predicted it would be a girl, something she’s always wanted. Clementine takes more after her mother - both appearance and personality wise. Dee taught Clementine several traditional African hairstyles and how to speak Italian, though Clementine barely remembers any remnants of Italian, yet she hopes to recite it again.
Diana, although she was swamped at work due to being a doctor at the local hospital, did her utmost best to be the best possible mother she could be to her only daughter, Clementine, and wished she would’ve spent a lot more time with her. It’s a regret that clouds her mind, especially after her husband had been bit by a walker. She often stared out the windows, longingly hoping that her daughter was alright. Before the outbreak, Clementine was raised in a mild Christian household. Her family only ever went to church on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas for the sake of tradition on Ed’s side of the family, and thus her parents were never truly were insistent on pushing Christian beliefs onto their daughter. When she was very young, Clementine would cry if neither her mother or father were present and would hug her stuffed animals at the end of watching Barney, Care Bears or The Land Before Time as either one of her parents would have to come in and hug her by the end of it.
On Diana’s birthday, Clementine and Sandra prepared a cake for her - her mother was ecstatic. Clem adored baking and sometimes, Diana would teach her how to bake when she had the time. Whenever Clementine would help Edmund make her breakfast with pancakes, apples and orange juice, Diana was truly pleased and happy.
In a time before she knew heartbreak or death, Clementine was teased even as a little girl by her classmates because of her so-called wild hair, her timidness, her “odd” ideas and of course, being the smallest girl in her class. Some other children, although much rarer, were even racially biased against her merely for the color of her skin and her ethnicity. Her parents worked arduously with their daughter to try and boost her confidence, and gave her a diary, but they tragically hadn’t lived long enough to teach her how to love herself enough, even though they both tried really hard to be good parents. Clementine was also left at home often due to her father being an engineer and her mother being a doctor at the local hospital in Georgia, and thus Sandra served as a surrogate parent of sorts, even though she was only a babysitter and thus cherished her parents and wanted to do things with them whenever the opportunity allowed itself to. Diana remembered her sweet little baby coming home crying because the other girls in her class were so mean to her, they hadn’t invited her to any of their birthday parties or to come over to their houses to play with them. Some of the boys used to pull on her hair, too. Clementine had very few friends at school and many of them had moved to other schools and neighborhoods. This is one of the reasons why Clementine is more quiet and timid than most children her own age, even upon meeting Lee Everett in A New Day. To this day, Clementine still does not believe she is beautiful or let alone even “pretty” even though she may put up a bravado, a facade, that she believes this to be the case; she does not like her hair or the fact that she is small.
Edmund and Diana were expecting another child on their way home from Savannah - essentially speaking, Clementine would have been a big sister - and in a modern alternate universe, this comes to pass as Diana gives birth to a son, Sebastian Valentin Felix DeCaruso. Diana fought tooth and nail to find answers when she and her husband were put in quarantine by the military. When given no answers, she eventually sank into a deep depression... until an offer from a man named Crawford Oberson to join his group, Crawford, came to her one night, when she was watching over her dying husband, and as the loving and devoted wife she was, refused to leave his side, not knowing the doom that awaited her. Diana never told her husband the news, even though she had wanted to, Edmund had been bitten. Diana lost her baby shortly after the incident due to intense stress and grief and she was in the beginning stages of her pregnancy. Edmund reanimated first then bit Diana and even though she was suffering and felt as if her body was aflame, she made one last call to Sandra, and then to her beloved daughter.
Her first message was at 5:43PM on July 19th, 2003 where she tells Sandra about Edmund being in an incident with some “crazy guy” and going into the ER at the hospital to get it checked out and therefore they’d have to stay another day and she tells Sandra not to worry and that they’d be back home before her Spring Break. The second message was at 11;19PM on July 20th, 2003, where she says that the calls are being dropped and the doctors wouldn’t tell her anything about Atlanta, and she pleads with Sandra to leave the city and to take Clementine back to Marietta and that she needs to get back to the hospital and to let her know when they’re safe. During this timeskip in between the second and final message, she was attempting to break the other people who were put in quarantine free and to stage a riot against the military in the hopes that those detained would have a chance of freedom. The third and final message was at 6:51AM on July 21st, 2003, where she tells Clementine to call the police and tells her that her parents loved her. Diana died shortly after and reanimated. Her last thoughts were of her daughter’s bright smile.
Clementine never received her message.
Edmund and Diana both died together for the second and final time the night Lee Everett died, when Clementine, not wanting to see them suffer and turn, shot her own zombified parents in the head with trembling hands and heartwrenching sobs escaping her before running for her life outside of the city, never to return again.
#YOU'RE A WEAPON GIRL &&. WEAPONS DON'T WEEP. ( HEADCANONS. )#( and yes... i know that some people are gonna go wack about diana's ethnicity. but here's the catch:#sean vanaman and melissa hutchinson have both stated that clementine is both black and asian and jessica brezzo - although originally#she said that she was african-american - she later said that she hadn't talked to them about it - and she states herself that she never#said that clementine was /solely/ african-american.#so yeah. i don't want people getting offended but i still had to point it out.#clementine however isn't aware of her asian heritage in her canonical verses. in a modern au however she is aware of it. )#( thus clementine identifies as black. )#( now i'm not exactly sure what asian ancestry clementine has - but i'll make headcanons about it later. )#( anyway i... really don't wanna start anything controversial so anyone getting aggressive with me won't be appreciated. )#( this post is about mother's day and how good of a mother she was to clementine and clem as a mother figure - herself not about race. )#( honestly diana would've been pretty damn smart - she's a doctor and a good mother - that's a lot of schooling. )

Khepri: Egyptian Scarab God - Ladybug
Maahes: Egyptian Lion God – Chat Noir
Miraculous: Tales of Khepri and Maahes
A gentle wind blew through the courtyard of the Palace, making the lanterns flicker against the walls of alabaster stone. A young man looked out over the Nile, taking a deep breath before turning to the tiny goddess beside him.
“I hope I’m wrong, Tikki,” he said heavily. “And I wish I could do this as myself, but….”
“I know you don’t like to change into a girl as Khepri,” the little goddess chirped. “But it’s for your own protection. Everyone is looking for a female of the royal blood who has taken the title of Sacred Scarab. You are overlooked and unnoticed.”
“Whereas Maahes is free to come and go whenever he pleases,” the young man sighed with envy as he thought of his feline superhero partner. “Ah, the freedom of not being part of the royal family. Even if it’s only a distant cousin.”
“Your information and insight are critical to our missions,” Tikki said firmly, kissing him on the nose. “Especially this one. Now, are you ready? You promised everyone you’d meet at sunset.”
“Right, right. Tikki, transform me!”
The young man felt the power wash over him and once again sighed as he looked down at his now-decidedly-female body covered in spotted linen. Fortunately, Khepri’s kalasiris (sheath dress) allowed for much more movement than he’d thought possible, and he effortlessly jumped from building to building as he made his way to the meeting place.
Being a female as the superhero (goddess) Khepri wasn’t so bad, really. The change was useful in keeping his identity secret, but he might’ve been able to enjoy it more if—
“There’s my beautiful lady bug!”
--he hadn’t accidentally told Maahes about the change. Now, the cat-themed superhero had taken it upon himself to tease Khepri about it whenever he could.
“Shut up, you drunk old cat!” he—she—spat, tossing her yoyo at him. The catboy easily moved his head to the side to dodge it, fully-aware that she wouldn’t actually hurt him. “Were you followed?”
“Was I—was I followed?” Maahes asked in mock-outrage. “I? The Great Hunter? The Protector of Ra? The—”
“Careful, Eater of Captives,” Khepri warned him lightly, landing beside him and playfully flicking his nose. “You collect many more titles, you won’t be able to keep track of them all.”
“For the last time, I didn’t eat him!” Maahes exclaimed. “I used my power at the last minute and it just looked like I did!!”
“Whatever,” Khepri said, dismissing the subject. “We have more important things to worry about right now. Like whatever the Pharaoh is planning over at the palace that has all the soothsayers in a tizzy.”
“You think Apep is behind it?” Maahes asked lowly, referring to the supernatural villain they’d been after for years.
“Unfortunately, yes,” Khepri admitted with a grimace. “Somehow, he’s gained influence with the Pharaoh himself. And we can’t just ignore it this time. We’ll have to do something. Something drastic.” She was about to say more, but she heard a rustle in the shadows that indicated the other person they were supposed to meet with tonight had arrived.
“You realize what you’re talking about, right? Assassinating the pharaoh?” Maahes growled, making a sign against evil. “A living god? And one with no sons to boot! His lineage will be ended forever! You’ll destroy Egypt! There’ll be a civil war! At least!”
“Believe me, I know.”
“So, you got a plan for getting past this? Tell me you have a plan. I know you’ve got a plan.”
Khepri heard a soft sob from the corner where her informant was still waiting to be called forward, and she grit her teeth as she pushed forward with the conversation. It was better if this came from the mouths of “gods” anyway.
“Tut has been a puppet king most of his reign. Why not simply put the puppeteer in power?”
“Oh, sweet Hathor preserve us,” Maahes exclaimed, running his claws through his hair. “That’s your plan?!”
“You got a better one?” Khepri asked, her eye starting to twitch.
“Take control!” Maahes exclaimed. Khepri sighed in exasperation. “You said it yourself, you have some royal blood—”
“No.”
“—and we already know we’ve been chosen by the gods for the good of the kingdom,” the cat superhero added, indicating his suit.
“And I’ve already told you, I have no interest in ruling,” Khepri reminded him. “I don’t even want a shrine as Khepri. I just want to do my job.”
“And if your job includes ruling Egypt?”
“I already have someone in mind.”
Maahes looked taken aback. “Who?? Who could possibly be better than us?”
“Someone who is already officially in power. Your majesty, will you join us?” Khepri gestured to the shadows behind her. “Maahes, may I introduce, by the grace of Ra, Pharaoh’s Great Royal Wife, Ankhesenamun.”
The young woman stepped into the light just long enough for them to see her, and then lost her nerve to be standing before actual living Gods. She fell to her face before them.
“Have mercy, Eyes of Ra!” she cried. Maahes chuckled a bit as Khepri quickly attempted to coax the young queen back to her feet.
“Peace, my queen,” the scarab-themed heroine said soothingly. “We’ll not hurt you. We simply wish to ask you some questions about your beloved husband.”
“Beloved?” Ankhesenamun choked out. Tears streamed down her face. “Yes, he called me beloved once. I was his and he was mine. Together for eternity, we said. But now… I am unable to give him any heirs. Now he thinks I am weak. Cursed. Now, I am replaced by my own mother! One whom the Sun God has already claimed. Has always claimed! Nefertiti is dead, and still I feel her presence all around. He calls her his sweet, long-lost princess! Says he wants to bring her back from the Land of the Dead! MAY RA FORGIVE HIM THIS BLASPHEMY!!” The young queen broke down, crying, not seeing the uneasy look the two superheroes shared.
“Did he, um… say how he was going to bring her back?” Maahes asked slowly, wetting his lips.
“No, Lord of Slaughter,” Ankhesenamun sniffled.
Maahes groaned and Khepri smothered her laughter at the cat god’s least-favorite title.
“Actually,” Maahes said slyly, stepping forward and wrapping an arm around Khepri’s now-feminine shoulders, “I prefer the title ‘He Who Is True Beside Her.’” He waggled his eyebrows at Khepri and received an elbow in his gut for his trouble.
“Please ignore the son of Sekhmet,” she said irritably. “He’s obviously been drinking. Any information you can give us about the Pharaoh’s plan would be helpful, your Highness.”
Ankhesenamun swallowed. “He said… something about sacrifice,” she said slowly.
“Does this have anything to do with the mysterious disappearances lately?” Maahes asked, suddenly all business.
“Disappearances?” Khepri asked, whirling to look at her partner in surprise. “I thought those were just rumors!”
“I’ve been doing some sniffing around downtown, milady,” the cat said with a saucy wink. “Turns out, they’re all true, more or less.”
“How many?” she demanded.
“About 90 people?” he shrugged. “All within the past three months.”
Khepri cursed. If Tutankhamun had gotten ahold of the Scroll of Spells like she thought he had… well, he was dangerously close to something unforgivable.
“My queen,” she said quickly. “It pains me to ask this of you, but can we, the protectors of the gods, count on your help?”
Anhkesenamun hesitated. “Do you have to kill him?” she asked in a tiny voice.
“I will try not to,” Khepri assured her, smiling sadly at the young woman, so obviously still in love with her husband. “But, if worse comes to worse… I must think of Egypt first.”
………….
The next day….
…………
Khepri swore as she raced across the courtyard, her yoyo already in hand. Already, there was a gaping hole in the sky and a group of mummies were carrying the queen high above their heads, even as she sobbed and begged Tutankhamun to stop.
She felt her gut churn. His own wife. He was willing to sacrifice his own wife because he wanted someone more powerful, more beautiful. But it had to be her. Even after all the pain she’d been through, she loved him more than anything.
And only one with a pure heart could love so deeply.
Even now, Ankhesenamun didn’t fight as the reanimated mummies placed her on a beam of light, all of them chanting.
“My lady!!” she heard Maahes cry across the courtyard. He was trying to take out as many mummies as possible, hoping to disrupt the spell. But, a spell like this… they needed to take out the source.
“You cannot stop me, you vile insect!!” the Pharaoh shouted, turning to face her. Idly, she noticed that Apep’s power had given him muscles and reflexes that the true Tutankhamen had never had in his short life. He blocked her kick easily, and she barely dodged his swing, springing backwards to get out of his range. Tut started laughing, mad with power. Khepri narrowed her eyes and began twirling her yoyo behind her.
She had promised the queen she would try, but if it was a decision between saving Tut or saving Egypt….
“You are nothing but a pathetic. Little. Lady-bug,” Pharaoh spat.
Instead of becoming angry and arguing back, Khepri just smiled at him and nodded.
“As you say, Pharaoh.”
She brought her spinning yoyo down hard on his thigh, not bothering to see how much damage she did as she sprang for his scepter. He bellowed in pain and then in anger when he realized he’d been tricked. Praying for a new, purifying spell, Khepri activated the scepter again, this time with her own true magic.
“Sacred Scarab!”
The void to the abyss and the beam of light disappeared. Tutankhamen’s sacrifice fell from the sky. Maahes displayed his cat-like reflexes when he jumped and caught Queen Ankhesenamun. As one, the one-hundred mummies surrounding them collapsed as the scepter in Khepri’s hands was purified.
“My love!” the queen cried, racing over to Tutankhamen. He turned away from her, still sitting on the ground and clutching his leg.
“Don’t look at me,” he muttered sullenly, as he turned back into teenage king that was his true form. “I hurt you. I listened to Apep’s empty promises and betrayed you.”
“That was not your fault!” Ankhesenamun insisted. She looked at Khepri desperately. “Tell him, goddess!”
“You are neither the first, nor the last man to fall victim to the forces of evil,” Khepri agreed, regarding the Pharaoh solemnly. He seemed to be in a lot of pain from the injury she’d given him earlier. “Do you wish me to heal your leg?”
“No, Goddess Khepri,” Tutankhamun ground out, trying to stand. His wife rushed to his side to help him and he leaned on her, gasping. “This is the symbol of my great sin. All those people… my beloved….” He looked at his wife mournfully. “I will bear this pain. Even in the afterlife. It will weight on my soul forever.”
“There is no need for that,” Ankhesenamun protested. Tutankhamun shook his head at her and turned back to Khepri, even as Maahes also made his way over to them.
“Please, goddess, if it is the will of Ra, keep no record of this horrific incident,” Pharaoh pleaded. Khepri bowed her head.
“I cannot do that,” she said regretfully. “But, if it is any consolation, the record I must make will be buried deep in the record halls of the gods. Along with this,” she said, indicating the scepter of power she had stolen from him.
Tutankhamen nodded, resigned. “If you must, please make it look like a legend, instead of something I actually did….”
Khepri smiled. “I’ll do my best, my Pharaoh.”
……
Less than a week later, the Pharaoh Tutankhamen was dead, having never recovered from his injury.
Khepri took caution as she strode into the palace, where the queen still grieved.
“You did this,” Ankhesenamun sobbed. “It’s your fault. You promised not to kill him!!”
“I promised to try,” Khepri said, stoically keeping any emotion from her voice.
“It’s still your fault!”
“It is,” the superheroine agreed.
“I should set the guards on you! Have them hunt you throughout the kingdom!”
Khepri didn’t bother to reply, and just leveled the queen with a dry stare. She was technically a goddess. The guards would throw their weapons down and abandon their queen before daring to lay a finger on her. Ankhesenamun gasped in a deep breath, trying to steady her sobs.
“But I won’t,” she said, her voice still shaking a bit. “Because it will do no good. Not against you.”
“Have you sent for your grandfather?” Khepri asked, hoping to get to the reason she’d even bothered to come here today.
“I sent for him days ago; just after the… ceremony.”
“Very good.” Khepri turned to go.
“I will erase you from history,” Ankhesenamun called after her. “You will get no shrines. No monuments. In the parts of history I allow to remain, you will be a minor god, lost in the glory of Ra!”
Ah, the irony. Khepri carefully hid her smile.
“As you say, my queen.”
….
Maahes was waiting for her on a rooftop nearby. “Have I told you how brilliant you are today, milady?” he asked, falling into step beside her.
“Considering I’ve spent the past few days holed up, recording what happened before the pharaoh’s successors try to rewrite history, probably not,” Khepri said, allowing herself to smile at her partner as they headed away from the palace.
He smirked back at her. “And considering you just got the most powerful woman in the country to give you exactly what you’ve always wanted, what do you want to do now?”
“We should probably lay low for a while,” Khepri said, thinking. “The Pharaoh’s successor will want to keep the queen happy to earn her support, and that may mean promising things….”
“Like your head on a plate?”
“Mmm, exactly.”
Maahes grin turned into a leer. “You can always come live with me, milady—”
“How many times do I have to tell you, Maahes? I’m a man! I’m actually a man!”
“And you’ll find I’m as flexible as a cat,” her partner said, waggling his eyebrows at her.
Khepri facepalmed. “I certainly hope Tikki’s future charges don’t have to put up with anyone like you. Or your awful puns.”
“Sorry, milady,” Maahes said, cheerfully throwing his arm around her as they headed off into the sunset. “You’re doomed. Doomed for all eternity….”
Khepri elbowed him in the gut and threw her yoyo to the nearest building.
“Only if you can keep up, cat!” she sang, flying away.
He laughed as he chased her. “Bring it on, milady!”
......
End.

The Pomegranate Imagery - Jonsa, ASOS.
So I originally set out to write another meta compiling all the parallels found in Jon & Sansa’s last few chapters from A Storm of Swords but as I went on, I figured the pomegranate instance was worthy of a post of its own.
The Pomegranate Imagery
Throughout Jon & Sansa’s chapters in A Storm of Swords, the mention of pomegranates are scattered.
Lady Olenna tells Sansa she looks like a pomegranate when she blushes:
No, don’t blush, with your hair it makes you look like a pomegranate.
- Sansa I, ASOS.
While in Jon’s chapters, Bowen Marsh is referred to as the ‘Old Pomegranate,’
Dolorous Edd sometimes called Marsh “the Old Pomegranate,” which fit him just as well as “the Old Bear” fit Mormont.
- Jon V, ASOS.
Much later, once Littlefinger takes Sansa away from Kingslanding, he offers her a pomegranate:
“Grisel,” he called to the old woman, “bring some food up. Nothing too heavy, my lady has a tender tummy. Some fruit might serve, perhaps. Oswell’s brought some oranges and pomegranates from the King.”
[...]
There were apples and pears and pomegranates, some sad-looking grapes, a huge blood orange. The old woman had brought a round of bread as well, and a crock of butter. Petyr cut a pomegranate in two with his dagger, offering half to Sansa.
“You should try and eat, my lady.” “Thank you, my lord.” Pomegranate seeds were so messy; Sansa chose a pear instead, and took a small delicate bite.
[...]
Lord Petyr dismissed him with a wave, and returned to the pomegranate again as Oswell shuffled down the steps. “Tell me, Alayne—which is more dangerous, the dagger brandished by an enemy, or the hidden one pressed to your back by someone you never even see?”
“The hidden dagger.”
“There’s a clever girl.” He smiled, his thin lips bright red from the pomegranate seeds.
- Sansa VII, ASOS.
The same way Sansa rejects the pomegranate offered by Petyr, Jon comes to reject Bowen Marsh’s plans for the Night’s Watch. The theme and imagery of the Pomegranate rings through to these two characters’ POV chapters, what it means to represent may differ in terms of your interpretation but much speculation has been made about linking it to the duality of Persephone.
The tale of Persephone in Greek mythology is of the stolen daughter of Zeus and the harvest Goddess Demeter. Hades had abducted Persephone for himself as Queen of the underworld. Grief stricken and infuriated, her mother Demeter cursed the crops to wither and made the earth barren, prompting Zeus to interfere. However, while in the underworld, Hades had tricked Persephone into eating his pomegranate seeds, therefore binding her to him for a third of the year. And so Persephone from thence would spend eight months on earth with her mother, and four in the underworld with Hades. The months she spends with the latter correspond with winter during which Demeter would make the soils barren, while spring would mark her return.
So how does this tie to either character?
With Sansa, in the beginning of AGOT, she was the Stark most tied to the South and its cultures, otherwise represented by its warmth and vivacity, the same way Persephone had been the Goddess of Spring, the season most associated with life. Sansa is then forced to marry Tyrion Lannister against her will in A Storm of Swords or Season 3 of Game of Thrones, who is heavily noted for his wealth. Similarly, in Greek mythology Hades is associated with wealth because gold and jewels are drawn from beneath the ground. Moreover, because of the death of Lady and the special connection the Stark kids have with their direwolves, Sansa is both alive and dead simultaneously, mirroring Persephone’s situation. Littlefinger also associates her with Catelyn, who in the books at least, has been reanimated as Lady Stoneheart. Though as winter seems to imprison Persephone, Sansa sheds off her naivete and is made stronger “I am stronger within the walls of Winterfell,” so in this respect, winter may be the season to set her free. After all, it is a time for wolves.
In Jon’s case, he represents the duality of Persephone more obviously. He is heavily associated with the colour black as he wears it in the Night’s Watch, his arc ties him to the undead wights, and his direwolf is named Ghost. These evoke death imagery and things you would tie to the Underworld and yet Jon is at present, a living man(at least until he gets stabbed in ADWD). Once he awakens, we can only wait to see how it plays out in the books, but at current in the show, he’s basically already reanimated.
The significance of the rejection of pomegranates:
As aforementioned, both Jon and Sansa come to reject the pomegranate. In the extract of Sansa’s chapter whereby Littlefinger offers it to her, she reflects that pomegranate seeds are “messy” and Littlefinger is left with a bright red stain on his lips after. In literature, pomegranates are often symbolic of temptation, and in this case it may serve as a literary device to highlight Littlefinger’s indecent proposal that unfolds later on(he forces himself on Sansa, and plots to use her as a pawn in his plans). Therefore her rejection of the fruit may be foreshadowing of her rejection of his advances and in the grander scheme of things, his ways.
Interestingly in Jon’s case, Dolores Edd mentions pomegranates about Bowen Marsh(the Old Pomegranate) in a chapter in ADWD:
“Pomegranates. All those seeds. A man could choke to death. I’d sooner have a turnip. Never knew a turnip to do a man any harm"
- A Dance With Dragons.
It serves as a foreshadowing of what later happens to Jon(he gets stabbed by Bowen Marsh in the mutiny at Castle Black) and strengthens the pomegranate imagery in Jon’s chapters. He rejects not only Marsh’s plans, but in a way, he rejects death itself(at least if the books follow the show in regards to Jon’s revival).
What a lovely parallel to tie these two together! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the matter! x

Re-animated scene that I did for the “Goddess of Spring” Reanimated Project (You can check it out on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU7nf5Or1cQ )
“Goddess of Spring” (from Silly Symphony by Walt Disney) was one of my childhood favorites. I watched Disney classics (including Walt Disney’s) since I was a little girl. Surprisingly, I didn’t know it was actually based on “Hades and Persephone” until now. XD
For Hades (or Pluto) from the short, I did the concept idea of his costume and hair - based on 1997 ver. of Hades from Disney’s “Hercules.” (especially the early character design by Nik Ranieri). XDDD

Also referenced from Ancient Greek costumes, and Calibos from the 1982 classic, “Clash of the Titans.” (great movie - check it out).
I have to say, it was different from the last re-animated project (This is Halloween ReAnimated) that I did. And I admit - for doing this re-animate-GoS it was stressful - especially the deadline. But my take of re-animating the scene was creative.
The animation and the background were done in Procreate. The lightening flash, and the timing were edited in After Effects (while the flashing was done in Premier Pro).
