(( It's been such a hot minute since it's happened, that I forget that most people who follow this blog don't know what happens when Miranda sincerely catches a crush and knows it, for once!

In short: if Miranda ever does manage to genuinely fall for someone and wants them, then, firstly, she's going to panic. Miranda is someone who, yes, is very confident in herself and believes that she has a right to every good thing in life, but that definition of "good thing" has been severely biased by the Merkingdom. The only things she really indulges in actively wanting and pursuing are things that the Merkingdom tells her she is supposed to want and pursue in the first place, things that are acceptable for a royal to want and things which are "normal" for them to want. This is why she doesn't actually mind dating, so long as she gets to treat the other party as a disposable toy for her to do what she pleases with — because it is common for royals to seek relationships like this, and because it helps to reinforce their place as royals.

Sincerely, very sincerely, wanting and caring for someone and actually feeling something for them, does not help reinforce this system. It leaves her vulnerable, either by other royals catching onto this, or through the other party not being well-equipped to handle the entire situation (in all the ways that it can go wrong). It is treating someone as an equal who the Merkingdom does not agree is an equal, and, even worse, it is giving Miranda a priority above the Merkingdom itself which she might hold greater loyalty to. That in particular is especially bad, given how much of Merkingdom politics is a reflection of their social dynamics to begin with.

This is why it takes so long for Miranda to admit it to herself. To do so is to admit she's not doing what she's supposed to do, that she's being bad, that she's failed in some fundamental level to be what the Throne demands her to be, and that's a lot of heavy stakes working against ever realizing when she likes someone. It has to get so bad and so intense that Miranda effectively has to admit to herself that she has done something that, in her mind, is severely wrong, and there's no way to avoid it or forget about it.

Thus, she tends to panic fairly bad. She is scared, she wants something and she was not supposed to do that, and every last moment of her life as Crown Princess is telling her that she very well might die because of this and that she will very much deserve it if it happens. It's very hard for her to connect this as anything other than a bad thing, and this is even harder to deny because Miranda liking someone also endangers them as well.

The Merkingdom will not tolerate such risks and threats, especially not to their Crown Princess, and other royals will innately view anyone who has Miranda's attention as a threat to themselves and their livelihoods. And if Miranda sincerely cares about someone, then she doesn't want them to get hurt because of her, which is made even worse by how convinced she is that she might be the one to hurt them too. Miranda's as much a royal as any of the others too, and all of Miranda's prior history of dating begins to work against her, reminding her of how easy it would be to dispose of them or harm them.

Secondly, this does present in a heightened and extreme want to bite her person of interest.

Contrary to what's above, this isn't actually a royal thing. It's a merfolk thing. They have many different ways to bite each other with many different connotations, and one way that they bite each other is both notoriously intimate, and tends to leave a recognizable bite mark on the other party, thus physically indicating that the two of them are close.

It's just a quirk of how merfolk attraction works then, that they focus so much on wanting to bite someone else when they're especially into them. It goes back to their social bonds, reinforcing them and helping to establish a new and closely tied bond, and helps secure it by gesturing to all other merfolk as a part of the social landscape that they all have to navigate. A merfolk who is especially down bad for another merfolk translates this idea as a need to bite them and be bitten back in return, to claim them as "theirs" and to be considered "mine" in turn. It's not really possessiveness nor territorial behavior, not in the way we'd understand it, but a deep and intense need to belong to someone, and a desire for that belonging. It's as much a physical thing as having a house that they live inside of, and is one of the fundamental desires behind merfolk building their miivt'ia and other relationship hierarchies.

This is intense for merfolk to begin with, being hypersocial and needing near-constant contact and interaction with each other. It is especially intense for Miranda, who is deeply repressed and cannot easily confront these desires and emotions in herself, and who perceives this sensation as being nearly painful in its intensity.

loves traditional camping and is not at all opposed to just…sleeping on the floor of a tent

can almost definitely set up a tent in two seconds flat—even the jumbo ones that are supposed to take two people to set up

definitely helps that he’s flexible 

if there was a medal for best at camping, he’d probably win it

it's almost annoying how on point his survival instincts are

he can spearfish and does it just to show off

can cook pretty much anything over a fire but if it were up to him he’d just eat soup, burgers & hotdogs the whole weekend

packs 12 pairs of underwear for a weekend of camping

also has insane packing skills, like he could pack 2 weeks worth of supplies in one backpack

even if its not sunny, he WILL somehow tan just from being outside

Jason Todd:

also likes camping off the grid

unlike Dick, he probably prefers sleeping in a trailer or a cabin if he can help it

It’s not that he’s against sleeping in a tent or anything 

but he’s spent so much time sleeping on the hard ground/freezing his ass off that if he can afford the extra comfort, he’ll spring for it

so much more relaxed when you’re camping—it’s almost like he’s a different person

brings about a dozen books to read for like, three days of camping

if you weren’t with him he’d probably read them all too

even if you’re staying in a place with a stove, he INSISTS on cooking stuff over the campfire

a really good campfire cook too—he’ll make you some insane salmon & the most golden toasty s'mores for dessert

dork ass loves telling you scary ghost stories with a flashlight under his chin and everything

all so that you’ll cuddle closer to him that night

lets you wear his comfy clothes and his jacket if it’s cold outside and claims he ‘doesn’t get cold’

to begin with, i have a litle post as a warning for laito headcanons, bc for me, laito is one of the most complex and difficult characters to undertands, so he is so much more than a perverted character and a leg lover (anime laito is terrible guys 💀💀)

his looks and selfcare

i think laito is a man that do care for his appearence, he ofc takes multiple showers in a week and loves to smell good, he often buy new perfumes with different scents just bc he loves it.

but unlike reiji, laito does not spend too much time doing skin care, he uses is good and never ending facial soap, its a bar of soap, a mint one. and about his hair, he also uses the same shampoo and conditioner, with argan and a little herb scent. laito loves cold showers, but quick, he is not a man to take his time, he is fast and dont waste time. mostly bc i belive laito dont really like being naked... alone.

i think laito do use sunscreen, bc he wants to have good skin as he ages (even if he is a vampire, let the man belive it).

and sometimes when laito is down i do belive he uses concealer to cover his eyebags, this doesnt happen often but has happened in the past.

something laito enjoy about getting ready is his hair, he uses dry repair creams, hair texturizer and hair oils to keep his ends healthy.

and as for clothes, i belive laito likes soft colors and not so saturated, but not pastel colors! maybe bc i also belive that colors affect his vision, like when people dont like to see neon colors in sports clothes, thats laito but not only with neon colors, he doesnt like too flashy and explosive colors. actually he loves the color blue.

i think laito is aware of how handsome he is, laito has a marked jaw, a slightly upturned nose and slanted eyes with a seductive and cautious gaze, but as well, his gaze can turn into a penetrating and deep one, making everyone tremble for how intense his eyes are, and not tremble in a good way, laito is scary.

i think laito also has pretty lips, but a little detail i like too, is that laito used to bite the skin of his lips in his early teen ages, giving himself tiny wounds. but Reiji always told him to use lip balm to heal these same wounds, although this only happened at certain times of the year, or sometimes when laito past through a stressful situation. over time he has been able to realize and apply his lip balm in time, leaving laitos lips with a slight shine always, it became a habit that he maintains, even if laito dont bite the skin of his lips anymore.

i also think that he instead of exercising, laito prefers to do another type of physical movement, such as walking or running, he does not like to lift weight to get muscle since he sees it illogical if he has inhuman strength, this gives him strong legs and calves of steel, he always shows his calves as a pride for himself. that also give him a lot of stamina not just for his body, but also his mind. running seems to be a perfect way to clear laito's mind. but that does'nt take away the wide shoulders, it runs in the family.

a little detail i like is that laito might have more moles in his body, like one in his hand, other in his neck, another one in his calves, and his back! but he doesnt get to see those.

and finally, unlike his olders brothers, shu and reiji, laito can grow a beard but he does'nt like it, he feels old.

random stuff

so, its no secret laito loves games, but i think laito does not like online or digital games, he is more into the classic, ofc its pool and darts, but he also likes board games, dice, marbles and everything related to something physical, does not have much interest in the digital world.

as a said before, laito loves perfumes, does not use the same one for a long time and constantly buys the last ones on the market to try them, not all of them are to his taste but he enjoys to collect them, he likes the flashy bottles.

and as a plus to laito, i think he is more romantic than you think, how so? he totally has a poetry noteboook where he writes every little pretty and romantic feelings laito has, i like to think he also do this with weird dreams so he can't forget them.

oh, and laito has a sensitive tongue, no reason for it, he can't tolerate spicy food or too sweet / salty, he hates it, reiji makes special food for him sometimes so he can enjoy his cooking as well. laito appreciates this.

and as i said before with shu, laito is such a goosip as well, but he is a bad goosip, laito likes to know everything about someting or someone, just bc he thinks he has to know what he likes, completly. that's a reason he has more interaction with his bat relatives, so they can tell him everything.

i like to think that laito is really jealous, like a lot.

i think laito has a secret interest in humans and their way of living, specifically, he is interested in religious topics, he had read Bibles although he found them boring, so prefers to see them captured in movies, and it is even better when they have another meaning than something literal, such as a biblical reference like mother or lamb. but still laito can't get how faith works for humans.

i think laito deep down, want to be more close to shu, mostly for his music collection and stuff but dont know how to adress him, so he just ocasionally ask shu for his disc and vinyls, i like to think that laito wishes to speak more to shu but its so distant that he never tries.

i think laito is also a pranker, like, not with everyone special, mostly his uncle, he likes to hide stuff from him or surprise him by appearing suddenly next to him, he does that to his brothers sometimes, to ayato and reiji mostly.

Brozone headcanons

Clay is the type of brother to not believe what any of the others tell him. Whether they're lying to him or not, he don't believe them

John Dory can get his brothers to fall asleep in minutes. He's got all the tricks that knock them out. They worked when they were kids and still work now that they're adults.

Whoever ends up with John will get a wonderful lil house husband. He can cook, clean, bake, sew, and take care of children. Basically a house husband (or pod in this case)

John definitely dated Delta Dawn. They broke up bc they were too similar and too different. This was shortly after the band broke up and before Delta became queen. They were both young and adventurous. They wanted to travel the world together but Delta had responsibilities that she couldn't leave.

Floyd had ONE girlfriend. When he got on his own, Floyd told people he was bisexual bc he knew he wasn't straight but he thought he liked girls. He and that girl broke up on good terms bc she understood when he told her he's gay.

While on stage and interacting with fans, the boys do very different things. John Dory leans towards the crowd and the fans go wild, he's a bit taken back but blows them a kiss (cue someone fainting). Bruce still plays up the heartthrob card, showing off his body, a fan yells and calls him daddy. He whispers into his mic "I didn't give you permission to call me that." in a flirty tone, cue the deafening screams. Clay was always shocked a little bit when fans start screaming when he gets close to the end of the stage, he's talking into his mic like "you good? You need something?" which causes the fans to all scream something at him. Floyd is the most memeable, hes making faces and sitting on the edge of the stage. He didn't used to that but after V&V he gets tired pretty quick. So he often ends up laying on the stage, his leg hanging off, his mic by his head along with a bottle of water. Clay kicked him off once and nobody knows if it was on purpose or not. Branch is NOT used to the fans. They're screaming at him and he's backing away. He's also very memeable until he gets more used to it. He didn't perform as much as his brothers (by that i mean he only truly performed once)

Bruce teaches John Dory how to surf. After several hours he gets the hang of it, it's like skateboarding only rougher.

Bruce sometimes watches his boys and sees him and his bros. Theyre wrestling and he can practically see himself, Clay and Floyd on the floor of their Grandma's pod

This is actually a scary idea.

Think about it, you always saw Stu as your playful and joking brother.

You never expected him or his friend, Billy, to be sadistic killers.

To think your brother committed such crimes behind your back is a disturbing thoughts...

Which is why Stu doesn't plan on letting you know the truth.

I imagine Stu would have some overly obsessive and protective qualities towards his sibling.

To the point he may even get overly jealous with you around other people besides him.

Maybe someone gets on your nerves at school or work?

Stu somehow manages to know about it, even if you didn't tell him.

Next thing you know, they're dead in quite the gruesome way.

That or maybe you have your first boyfriend/girlfriend?

Stu shows distaste towards them, soon even doing away with them when he's had enough.

He takes his time to taunt them about you, claiming how no one can take his sibling away from him.

It's nothing romantic, don't read it wrong, Stu just feels you two have an unbreakable bond together.

He's overly obsessive about you as your older brother.

He definitely comforts you when people close to you start dying.

You hug him, rambling about how you're afraid you'll lose him too.

Stu responds by hugging back... whispering that he won't let that happen...

All with a grin on his face that you can't see.

He's possessive of his little sibling.

A lot of the blood he spills is for you.

Stu never plans on telling you that he and Billy are the Ghostface killers.

He does it in secret, all as a way to keep you to himself.

The only way you'd know is if you caught him.

Perhaps you walk in on something you aren't supposed to... Stu hunched over someone who "wronged" you in some way with a bloody knife in their gut.

He's covered in blood... crazed eyes flicking to you and your horrified expression from behind his mask.

He grins under the mask as you run off and he gives chase.

He won't hurt you... he's your beloved brother, isn't he?

So when he corners you, his touch is gentle.

Blood smears on your skin and fear eats at you as you stare at the killer in front of you.

Your heart nearly stops when he removed the mask... revealing your brother.

His smile never leaves his face as he pulls you in for a hug.

He claims he's been doing this all for you.

He also warns that good siblings will stay quiet about what they saw.

As blood seeps into your clothes... you nod aggressively.

You'll stay quiet about this... all for your brother...

This makes Stu smile softly.

Everything he does is to keep you safe and happy beside him, after all.

NIKTO HEADCANONS (but realistic)

TW: sexual themes, acute dissociative disorder mentioned, this man has definitely been through a lot.

A/N: I don't think I need to say this, but these headcanons are strictly from my perspective. Like many other people here, I enjoy writing for this character, and I have a lot of projects for the future. Anyway, y'all enjoy!

→ He loves cup noodles. He gives the vibes of eating them because they are quick to make and saves him a lot of time. But he’s skilled in the kitchen. Dmitry once founded him cooking in the kitchen’s base in the middle of the night. A glance from him was enough for Dmitry to turn around and walk away with another secret to hide.

→ He’s friendly only in private and only with his team, and obviously Sputnik. He feels comfortable around them, and he laughs only with them. He doesn’t hang out though. He doesn’t like public spaces at all.

→ Diagnosed with Acute dissociative disorder which may include symptoms of other dissociative disorders including dissociative identity disorder (source). This means that he experienced episodes where he dissociated, but since it’s acute, he had short but severe episodes (no, he’s not out of his mind). In my opinion, he doesn’t take any meds, or he would be discharged from the service. But he probably has periodic sessions with a therapist.

→ Possessing a hyena pet helped him find some balance in his life. For him, it’s like having a common dog, it doesn’t make any difference for him. He always finds it amusing when he uses him to scare Rodion, making him scream like a teenager. That’s how he discovered that Rodion doesn’t like anything that resembles a dog, even if Sputnik is a hyena. And he obviously uses this knowledge to his advantage.

→ He is neither hyposexual nor hypersexual (no, he’s not a pervert either). He actually has a normal relationship with sex and all the things that comes with. He doesn’t like sex without feelings. But if it needs it, he definitely jerks off at night.

→ He prioritize trust above everything, if he’s interested in someone. It will probably take him months to trust someone. Definitely a lot of trust issues, he’s really careful when he meet someone new.

→ Definitely not a religious person. He went through so much in his life that he’s more of a ‘realist’ person. He doesn’t think that there is a god, at all.

→ With the right person, he can be very protective: he has the ‘scary dog privilege’, and no one would definitely mess around with a masked big guy all dressed in black (most of the times).

→ He’s a reserved person and he appreciate the silence, especially if someone respect his own silence. Conversations with him can lead to a whole bunch of different topics at a deep level, and he loves when someone actually understand what he’s saying. He has a lot of knowledge and he used to read a lot of books, especially when he was a teen, and even more growing up and when he was recovering from his trauma. He still reads, and when he isn’t going to be deployed in a short time, he reads a lot during the night.

→ His trauma led him to a lot of insomnia, and a lot of nightmares when he actually manage to fall asleep. So, he usually goes for a walk, or he goes training, trying to take his mind off things.

→ Panic attacks are an occurrence, but he learned to acknowledge the symptoms even before it happens. He usually walks back to his room, finding the silence the thing that calms him the most. When he can’t go back to his room, the rest of the team usually has his back, and always managing to work something out. Every time they find a different solution, and that’s what helps him.

→ No one knows his past (and maybe it's better this way). Only Kamarov knows that he had to endure some bad shit back when he was a teenager. I can imagine living his years with her babushka before enlisting in the military. He doesn’t care about his parents since he lived in a toxic environment. Definitely doesn’t talk about it at all.

What do Gods know about love 

Shanks x reader. Soulmate AU. Just a little headcanon/shortfic I wrote while away on holiday.

Imagine a world in which the name of your fated partner appears on the wrist/forearm of your dominant arm. There is no specific moment, sometimes it happens to young children while others have to wait until old age.

Shanks has already lost his arm when one day, suddenly as he's walking along a pier, his heart skips a beat, and a sweet taste fills his mouth, as if he had bitten into ambrosia - the telltale signs that his soulmark is revealing itself. Excited, he looks at his right arm... and finds nothing.

He waits patiently for almost an hour, even though the appearance of one's soulmark should be immediate after the signs... And then he realises the truth.

Even though he's by now accustomed to using his right arm to wield his sword, or a spoon, or a pen, Shanks is naturally left-handed, or rather he was until he lost his left arm to save Luffy... which means that his soulmark has appeared on a part of his body he has lost forever, either swallowed by the Sea King or sunk to the bottom of the abyss.

He'll never know the name of his soulmate. Shanks feels... he doesn't know how exactly. He never cared too much about relationships and love beyond the occasional dalliance and one night stand, so heartbreak is too strong a word to describe his state of mind, but he is disappointed, a sense of loss he can't shake off and that for a while makes it harder to appreciate everything he should feel fortunate for, his freedom and the friendship and loyalty of his crewmates.

In time he makes peace with his loss. He's happy with his life as it is, the occasional woman (or man) to spend a night or two with and then say goodbye to, his heart closely guarded against anyone who could threaten to break it. One day, maybe, he'll meet his soulmate; he'll know because they will have his name on their arm, and then... Well, he'll decide what to do when the time calls, and until then he's more than happy with being unattached.

Until he meets you. He falls quick and hard, a feeling that goes well beyond physical attraction and that eclipses everything he has ever felt before; soon, everything he can think about is you, and the desire to have you by his side. He bides his time, gets to know you well as he does his best to make a good impression on you, and soon he feels reasonably sure you care for him as well. Unfortunately, he can't be sure he's your soulmate, because you're always wearing a long-sleeved jacket, or a long glove, or bandages, that cover your dominant arm and keep your soulmark secret. Which is not unusual, lots of people decide to keep it secret since it's a private matter, but Shanks would gladly give his only arm to know: he loves you desperately, so much the feeling is overwhelming and almost scary in its intensity. He doesn't know how much more he can take not knowing the truth, but discovering there is another person's name on your arm, and that he's not your soulmate, would break his heart.

Shanks has never allowed fear to stop him from doing what he believes is right, or something he deems important, and he doesn't intend to start now. He arranges for the two of you to have some time alone, woos you with flowers and a bottle of good wine, and then he takes your hand in his and, heart pounding in his chest so hard it hurts, confesses his love for you. He's overjoyed when, eyes shining with joy, you immediately return his feelings, telling him you love him as well and that you want nothing more than being with him.

A kiss follows, intense enough to make both of you tremble, and Shanks wants nothing more than to spend the rest of the night holding you in his arm, kissing your mouth and enjoying the sweet sensation of your body near his, but the doubt is eating him alive. And so, voice reduced to a whisper, your arms wrapped around his neck and as he sees you offer him your mouth for a new kiss, he asks to see your soulmark.

He feels his heart sink when he sees a crestfallen, and then immediately after melanchonic, expression fill your face.

"Why do you want to see it, Shanks?" you ask sadly; you look disappointed, like a teacher who has seen their best student fail an easy exam, and Shanks hates that he's the one who let you down, he who wants nothing more than to make you the happiest woman in the Four Seas. Conversely, he's also disappointed, convinced as he is that there's another person destined to claim your heart.

"It's someone else, is it not? I should have known, it was too good to be true."

"I didn't say that. Tell me, why is it so important for you to know whose name is written on my arm?"

Shanks has to pose that same question to himself, since he has not reflected on it, and once he does, he feels mortified.

"You need proof, right? You can't trust that I'm sincere when I say I love you and want to be with you, but knowing that we have been predestined to be together would reassure you."

It would, and Shanks admits, both in the privacy of his heart and out loud, that not only it's unfair of him to wish for a confirmation he himself cannot give, since his left arm has most likely become fish food, but putting his trust in a sign someone, the Gods or Destiny or some other imperscrutable force, assigned you, rather than trusting the sincerity of your feelings and words, is probably the most inauspicious way to begin your life together as a couple. You deserve better, at least from your man.

"Forgive me." he murmurs in the end, his eyes trained on your hand now held in his; you haven't stood to leave and never speak to him again, which Shanks considers a blessing given the horrible impression he's making, but he couldn't blame you if you decided that, after all, he's not the sort of man you can bind yourself to "It's not that I don't trust you, but... I guess that I care so much about you, and about the possibility of us together, that I wanted to be as sure as I could that it was real, and that it would last."

"It is real; at least for me." you reassure him "And I do want it to last."

"As I do. What I feel for you, I've never felt it for anyone else; and I also know that I should respect and trust you as well as love you, and that means believing what you say, rather than trusting the Gods made the right choice pairing us up."

You tell him you're happy to hear that. After all, you point out gently, plenty of soulmate couples are unhappy for various reasons, therefore having his name on your arm would not necessarily mean you're going to work as a couple. You'll build your future yourselves, staying together because you want to and not because someone compels you to, and as long as you trust and remain loyal to each other, you know you'll be alright.

"So... Do you want to see my soulmark?" you ask in the end, once peace has returned between you and Shanks and you're enjoying the warmth of his embrace, your cheek resting against his shoulder as his hand moves up and down your spine "I won't get upset if you want to, I don't want there to be secrets between us."

Shanks reflects on it for a moment before answering; he has perceived the tension in your voice, which has convinced him the name you carry on your arm is not his, but he's determined not to be discouraged. Who cares if fate didn't mean for you to be together? What do Gods know about love after all? He wants you, and you want him; what else do you need? You'll build your Destiny together, and while no one can know what future may bring, it is hard, as he looks into your adoring eyes and enjoys the warmth of your soft body pressed against his, not to feel confident that what you share is going to last forever.

"You decide." he proposes in the end "I don't want to make you uncomfortable, and it's your body, so... Yeah, the choice is yours."

He immediately knows he made the right choice, or at least one that has earned him forgiveness for his previous faux-pas, when he sees you smile, and then, tentatively, remove the long glove that covers your left arm up to the elbow. You wordlessly present it to him... and Shanks gasps.

"It happened when I was eleven." you explain quietly "I hadn't received my mark yet, and the town I lived in was famous for its fireworks shows. I had this... firecracker in my hand, and I don't know what happened, I was always careful... it exploded. I was lucky not to lose my hand, in time the wounds healed and now it doesn't pain me anymore, but as you see the skin is completely burned."

It really is, Shanks thinks, his heart full of pity, since your poor arm is still carrying the signs of that terrible accident... including the inner forearm, where your soulmark is supposed to be, the name of your fated partner forever hidden by the burned skin.

"You hadn't gotten it yet, had you?"

"I hadn't; I received my mark only years later. Shanks, I'm sorry if you're... disappointed..."

"I'm not; I'm just saddened, that you had to experience such pain." he reassures you, using his hand to bring yours to his lips; he kisses the back, and then the palm, and your wrist, and then a line of butterfly kisses along your forearm follows "So we're even in a way; neither of us can know the name of the other's soulmate. I must confess, I feel... relieved."

"As I am. I always thought that when I found the right person, the other part of me, I'd simply... know, if not immediately at least in time, for sure." you agree, almost shy as you look at him "And I think I was right."

Shanks smiles softly as he holds you against him; there is a peace in his heart he has never known before, a peace that fills him with joy, gratitude, and hope for the future.

"I think I was right as well." he murmurs, chastely kissing your brow to then lower his lips to claim yours in a new, breathtaking kiss "And I've never felt so glad of it.”
