The Day 40 prompt for @local-friendly-wizards‘s A Year of Art challenge was “crisis”, and I was kind of stumped for a bit on what to draw; there are a lot of interesting things that qualify as crises.  Finally I decided to just draw a character undergoing a crisis, which was maybe a bit of a copout... but then I was left to decide what kind of character to draw.  Well, I’ve been drawing some old characters lately; maybe another existing character; do I have a character who’s particularly panicky?

So I finally decided to draw Captain Rapton Vane, one of the main characters of an animated series pitch I’m working on.  (And when I say I’m “working on” it, I mean I haven’t actually done any work on it in months and really need to get back to it.)  This was actually my first time drawing the character in Adobe Illustrator—all my previous drawings of this character had been done in Toon Boom Harmony—which caused a bit of further delay because it was a pain to match all the colors; oh well.

Anyway, in redrawing the character I realized two things about his design.  First, his legs didn’t look right for a Velociraptor, and second, I ought to give him pants.  Yes, he’s a cartoon dinosaur, but that’s no excuse.  Granted, I’d never drawn him in a full-body front view before, which is probably why I hadn’t seen those issues before; from the side his legs are mostly hidden by his coat.  Still, well, yeah, he needed some design tweaks.

And dang; I didn’t get this posted till after midnight; so much for my streak of posting some art every day... though I only missed it by a few minutes, so I’m tempted to call it close enough.  And anyway, it was drawn on the 9th, so I haven’t missed a day of drawing something this year regardless.

there's a confrontation brewing in the near future of tatbp and I am very excited for it. Here's some of the lead up!

Ted wants to say he’s surprised, but he can see how Shiloh ended up in such a state. Behaviour like that, it was behaviour that had to be ironed out early, and while Ted didn’t doubt that Jamie was well liked here at Clarence Hill, he did doubt his ability to be the kind of role model needed for kids like that. He wasn’t what Ted would call even tempered, prone to fits as though he was a child himself.

based on your asks responses & characterization of yuuta this is what i’ve gathered — yuuta is like that one high school senior who looked at the new coming freshman’s & just adopted them on the spot. there’s no out. now his friends sees the kid & adopted them too. it’s a family now. a very young, close in age family. (i was yuuta in this situation 😔 i was use to be megumi in this situation but i carried the tradition out. as i should. high school & middle school was wild.)

YUUJI THOUGH. we will probably never see him in your sea glass garden au but your asks is killing me. like his one sided beef with yuuta? he’s just like me fr. i too would fight over megumi if it comes down to it.

i just know yuuji thought that yuuta & megumi was a thing at first cause of the whole “his boy thing”. i know he screamed into a pillow about it. i know he went to gojo to ask for permission to court megumi & gojo was flabbergasted at such a medieval act so he had yuuji do the dumbest shit to get his blessing (ha).

i just know nanami is sighing at the idea of his son yuuji being a jealous little brat because of his other son yuuta. i just know yuuta was so confused until he witnessed yuuji & megumi awkward ass flirting. i know he acts like a little shit to get on yuuji (& sukuna) nerves.

Yuuta is absolutely that senior who adopted that new student and made a little family. That is His Kohai now okay megumi is their collectively raised flour sack baby and they will kill for him.

Yuuji came back to life finally met the second years had just leveled up with his cursed energy and gained a new dad got his old friends back he was so so ready to go live his best life and then his new self appointed brother opened his mouth and started rhapsodizing about some impossibly beautiful and perfect man named okkotsu yuuta and yuuji is absolutely whacked in the face a la rubber squeaky hammer that there’s some gorgeous son of a bitch out there already living his best life.

His death sentence was overturned. He’s so powerful that he can save everyone if he wants. He is the legally adopted child of Nanami Kento. The curse attached to him 1) actually liked him and 2) moved the fuck on which some people (Sukuna) could take a few notes on.

Fushiguro Megumi is his boy.

This could not have devastated him more thoroughly. Even his newly acquired self appointed brother thinks okkotsu yuuta is the perfect man, which he manages to express at length in between warnings from the second years that Yuuta’s going to fly back from Africa purely for the sake of kicking his fucking ass for touching His Boy, which yuuji simply cannot handle.

Yuuji lowkey had a new lease on life and thought “hey! Fushiguro tried to kill someone with an elephant for me! Maybe I have a shot and he’ll let me hold his hand!” and then there’s god’s perfect man off in Africa who’s enticing megumi away from movie marathons with his fucking FaceTime calls right when yuujis almost hyped himself up enough to try the yawning arm stretch thing.

He spends at least three weeks trying to figure out if Megumi’s His Boy because they’re in a long distance relationship and it only ends because maki starts finding it more annoying than funny and establishes that it is not in fact a romantic arrangement. She thinks. (Okay it’s still kind of funny.)

Yuuji resorted to a terrible wikihow on how to get someone to date you and it insisted “get their parents approval” was his in and gojo could NOT have been more of an asshole about it. Nanami had to intervene to get it to stop. He is very tired and very confused. Why are you so upset about okkotsu he’s a lovely young man why is this making you more upset

Of course if yuuji ever found out that megumi became Yuuta’s boy after Yuuta personally restarted his heart he’d instantly understand why everyone acts like Yuuta’s the best thing since sliced bread. He is that amazing.

Yuuta and Megumi are completely oblivious to all of this.

I gained some weight over the pandemic. As a result, I lost most of my wardrobe. Being a Body Positive Girlie(TM), I thought, Well, that's fine, I will save some money and do a big shopping trip and redo my wardrobe!

I just came back from the first attempted shopping trip and I couldn't find one plus-size tank top I liked.

Knowing the issue is the fashion industry, and not my body, isn't helping much right now

Not sure if you thought of this but are the animals organic or cybaranimal or alien? I really don't know lol, not sure if there will be beastformers or Predacons in that world. Since there are fur and all that Megatron wears.

They’re a mix of cybernetic and organic! Thorns and Thrones is a soft body au, so nothing exactly ‘transforms’ mechanically (mecha, techanimals, beastformers)

This AU does have mythical elements added to it as well! Transformations are totally on the table if you’re dealing w Sorcery, Curses, Demonic possession, or Changelings

The furs are absolutely from a variety of techanimals that exists in this world from cyberwolves down to cybercattle, mythical techbeasts exists too, but they’re rarer to come by nowadays. However, since the Allspark’s disappearance, it seems more and more that strange, dangerous creatures are showing up out of thin air.

The ancient Predacons were rumored to be nothing short of half-beast, as not many outside of their people shared the knowledge on how they could seamlessly communicate with and command anything from titanical serpents to dragons. The Predacons aren’t in the current timeline of the AU, but many speculate that the Dinobots tucked away in the unclaimed Isles are descendants of them!

Dinobot armor is highly sought after since it’s believed that the scales of fallen dragons have been passed down through those family lines. Trading for this impenetrable, fire proof, material rarely ever happens. It’s more common to negotiate a hefty hand-crafted weapon or brilliantly colored fabrics, the latter kudos to skills brought in by the Seekers who merged with the Dinobots, than it is the ever get your hands on scaled armor. Because of it’s rarity, Dinobots who venture out of the Isles frequently conceal their coveted armor in furs.

so crash course, furs, scales, hides, and teeth, some materials used more commonly than others, are techno organic materials used to create clothes and armor in this world outside of the usual metal ore!

1. chipotle order? ugh okay not to spoil 26 but despite growing up on mexican food i have no spice tolerance, so i have a pretty basic order. either burrito or burrito bowl with extra black beans, brown rice, corn salsa, cheese, double lettuce, and guac.

7. what animal do you look forward to seeing when you visit an aquarium? finally my favorite question 🥰 i'm always thrilled to see cephalopods, especially octopus! any mammals they have tend to be quite interesting. but the biggest thing is anything special that aquarium has. i went to the scripps aquarium on my work trip a couple of months ago i lost my everloving mind about the little penguins - there are only 5 other aquariums in the country that have them and i've been following the new zealand national aquarium online for years because of their little penguin exhibit. thankfully by this point i'd long since ditched all my coworkers so when i finally tore myself away from the penguins after 40 minutes i immediately walked into the seadragon feeding and sat there entranced for another 25 minutes. unforch, seadragons live in low light conditions lmao

i also got to see a cookie cutter shark specimen which i was so surprised and excited abt and i did stick my hand in the cleaner shrimp touch tank because they get to opt into interacting so it was rly fun! i was also thrilled to see mola mola at the monterey bay aquarium, and the shark tunnel at the toronto ripley's aquarium had me truly & completely losing my shit with excitement, i insisted on going through multiple times. anyway sorry that turned into a recitation of cool shit i've seen, i genuinely am excited to see everything at the aquarium and i love to spend hours in there reading the placard on every single display, i'm very lucky that i get to visit so many aquariums when work is flying me around! i love them and i'm going to visit an aquarium on my birthday again this year! however i am surprisingly reserved about touch pools? i'm happy to look but idk... i know they swap the creatures out regularly so none of them get too stressed but it still doesn't feel right to me to go poke the urchin when i get plenty from looking at it. cause can't you stare at this shit for eons?

25. would you say you have good taste in music? idk about good but it's. hmmmm it's sure something. no one can figure out what it is. a couple of friends can now pretty consistently guess whether i'll like a particular song but god knows what the unifying thread is. my sister was visiting recently and i drove us around for a day trip and asked her to describe my music taste and she said 'irish folk' which is funny because i don't actually have a single irish folk song in my library? anyway angie labeled a lot of my music 'snoozers' so a lot of people probably think it's bad yeah
