when you dont train your dog you doom yourself to like 15 years of dealing with an untrained dog. i can, and have, accidentally left an entire plate of leftover porkchops on a low coffee table overnight in my living room and when i woke up my dog hadnt touched them, because he is well-mannered and knows he cant just HAVE food that he wasnt offered. he's part labrador and any other labrador would have inhaled them instantly and probably died. you arent infallible, you cant dogproof your entire house against a dog that hasnt been trained not to constantly poison or choke itself. you teach your kids not to stick cutlery in the toaster, you dont just throw your toaster away until theyre 20.
when i babysat my friend's two "we never go out anywhere so we havent trained them" dachshunds it was like living with toddlers who were always trying to attack me and steal my shit. they werent mean, but they had been taught specifically to act like hooligans because they got whatever they wanted no matter how bad they were and no one ever gave them any boundaries. anyway when my friend got back home he said the dogs were extremely well-behaved because i had spent one single week doing crazy unthinkable beastmaster shit like "not letting them steal my dinner off my plate" and "saying no in a firm voice and ending the interaction when they tried to bully me by biting". its not hard until you make it hard by teaching your dog (or cat) to act like a demon

Fig's whole thing about embodying a german shepherd is so funny to me as. Someone who works with lots of german shepherds.
YES they are intimidating YES they are working dogs YES they will startle at small shadows, come prepackaged with three separate neuroses, and scurry around like a furtive scoundrel hiding from invisible helicopters.

Adler is a dog guy because he loves the obidence, affection and deference dogs show their masters regardless of how they are treated. A dogs owner is their entire world, they are reliant on them for everything and this is probably appealing for Adler and his need for control. Having a dog strokes his ego both because a dog is obedient and affectionate to it's master, which Adler thinks he is owed and because it affirms his sense of American masculinity. Adler would be one of those dog people that hate cats because you have to respect a cat's boundaries in order for it to love you and you can't control them like you can dogs. Adler likes Bell for the same reason he likes dogs.
#Adler is absolutely obsessed with image and with being the The (Capitalist) American Man™#we get a look into this from his various zombies and online voicelines.#IDK what the American™ breed to have was in vogue at the time but I could see him with something like a gshep#malinois or golden.#Because those are Real Dogs™ that Real American Men™ have.#This is to say that he'd also hate small dogs like Chihuahuas#Park also likes dogs but her relationship with them is fundamentally different than Adler's#She's both non American and a woman. There is no sense of masculinity that needs to be upheld.#She is however#a scientist and dogs a the trainable animal lol.#Bell was named after Pavlov's experiment for a reason.#She'd probably also vibe with cats though because they're chill like that.#Woods would also be one of those guys who says “If it's under 50 pounds it's not a real dog” and grumbles when you bring home a Shit tzu#but still falls head over heels for it. David catches them napping together and he tries to deny it later.#Anyway I think David should find a scruffy white little puppy with the crustiest eyes you can imagine and bring it home and beg Woods#to let him keep it And the dog absolutely ends up being Wood's dog first and foremost.#Can you tell I don't exactly have a charitable view of Adler's personality lol?#You can disagree with me that's fine#Russell Adler#Helen Park#bocw#cod#black ops cold war#black ops#call of duty#call of duty black ops#call of duty black ops cold war

Once again stating this (because I've seen people say otherwise), the original lore of Star Wars is not "anyone can use the Force with training", George Lucas did not change anything, the original trilogy is just very mum on the why/how of who can and can't use the Force aside from a simple distinction of some people can, but most can't
What the original lore (and what was always kept with in Lucas works) was is that the Force EXISTS in all living beings
Everyone is a part of the Force, but not everyone can feel/use it, kind of a "all thumbs are fingers, not all fingers are thumbs" type deal, because Force sensitivity is like a sixth sense or a limb even, it's an innate part of yourself, if you don't have it, you don't have it

Fandom girlie meets non-fandom boy on a first date.
I asked him: ”Do you know what is shipping?”
Answer was no.
I had to explain to this poor man what it means to ship someone.
Is this a red flag? 🚩
Is there a future with him?

“why are dogs in movies and television always this same group of breeds!!!” i understand the frustration believe me i do because i love seeing variety but dogs in movies and TV are usually those breeds because those are the easiest breeds to train to do a bunch of weird niche tricks

If you make a list of breeds you would recommend most to your average household, what would you include? Any best-kept secrets? Any breeds that are popular as pets that you absolutely would not include?
Ohhh man. Hm.
Collies are an easy one - they are best-kept secrets in that not many families have them, but they're almost invariably incredible family dogs when well-bred. I've met one (1) Collie that didn't go "OMG YAY A CHILD" and get all gooey. They're friendly, they tend to be easy to train and live with, and (depending on line) they are often not demanding when it comes to exercise. I know people often say that Smooths have higher energy levels but I haven't seen this myself, just certain breeders who produce dogs (rough or smooth) with higher energy levels... a lot of "sporty" breeders just so happen to breed mostly Smooths ime.
I think most of the small companion breeds are fabulous, too. I've loved the temperaments of the well-bred Frenchies I've met - so sweet and funny. Obviously not a secret since they're so popular. Labs and Goldens (obviously), but I have known people who got a field line Lab as a family pet and ended up with a neurotic, understimulated nightmare. So, yk.
On the bigger end I find Berners to be incredible family dogs, and in my experience well-bred Mastiffs are, too (again be careful re:lines, I know some people who breed for more intense Mastiffs). Saints and Newfs are also great but a lot of maintenance.
Rat Terriers ime are great companions, they are so fun, so clever, and so portable. I've met very few that wouldn't make good family pets.
I wouldn't include Sibes (they don't seem as popular now as they were 10 years ago, but still), pits ( @pitbolshevik correct me if you'd like, I think AmStaffs/APBTs can make great family dogs but I do think prospective owners need to understand a bit about the breed and its history beforehand), GSDs (the well-bred ones I've met have been lovely, but even AmSL (the only ones I interact with) have been very suspicious of strangers... I imagine poor socialisation could still mess them up pretty bad), BCs, and. Sorry. Doodles
I'm not going to bother with Doodle discourse but I DO think that a lot of families buy a Doodle (Aussiedoodle, Bernadoodle, Sheepadoodle, what ever) because they think it's going to be like the Goldendoodle/Labradoodle/Cockapoo they met. "Doodle" has become such an ambiguous thing that I feel like pet owners don't really understand what they're getting when they get an "Aussiedoodle". I've never met two Goldendoodles with the same temperament, but ymmv I haven't interacted with many on account of the dog show thing
On a similar note, I know Mals are constantly touted by some as a "stay away stay away stay away" breed, but I have found show line Mals to be pretty great little dogs. 🤷‍♂️

would bo be a rider ?
Oh, definitely! I'm not sure what his dragon would be yet, though. Currently I just see him chilling with the Terrible Terrors, but they're too small to ride, so obviously he would need a different kind.
Eh, I'll decide on one eventually...
