As the person who was responded to about omegaverse, I want to clarify that I am not pro censorship at all and I think omegaverse has a right to exist unhindered. However, it is similar to any other media in that it is still important to analyse how media reflects cultural biases. Like, for example, it is true that a lot of commercial lesbian porn is created specifically with the male gaze in mind (as in the genuine analysis tool) rather than being targeted towards lesbians themselves, for example, and how that shows that there is a genuine social issue where the concept of heterosexual men is prioritized and women are considered objects for men's consumption. but that does not mean porn is bad or this kind of porn should just inherently not exist, it just represents an aspect of misogyny and lesbophobia in society and how institutions will value the concept of what heterosexual men want over lesbian realities. It is a way to analyse how society conducts itself sexually and what is normalized by groups.

And I'm not talking about pwp or anything either. I'm talking primarily about long form narrative that has a whole, quite common trope of, effectively, correctively raping transmasculinised subjects and treating it as a net positive for the character. But i would never call for it to be banned or restricted. I only know this shit because I read it. I can only say that I know certain trends cause I've read hundreds of thousands of words of omegaverse that ranges from pwp to long dramatic stories that explore gender and society to bodice rippers. Omegaverse deserves to exist and can be a fun and compelling genre even when it has underlying messages that are not positive

But that does not mean that it cannot reflect real societal biases.

Its the same as any art that has problematic elements. Whether the author means to say "there is a specific role that men who can bear children play in society and any deviation from that is self denial or lying and needs to be addressed sexually by a more dominant man who can put that person in their place and they will be happier once they accept their role as homemaker/submissive/broodmare" or not, that is the message that a lot of omegaverse has. Transandrophobic tropes don't make a genre toxic or bad or even a specific work bad or wrong, but they still exist. They still reflect the pervasive idea of putting the transmasculinised subject in their place. I enjoy "girl dressed as a boy to do x thing only men can do and she has a wacky adventure before settling down and being gender confirming and heterosexual" as much as the next person, but that doesn't make it not a transandrophobic narrative device.

And for omegaverse specifically? It might not register to an average cis reader that they are reading something with an inherently transphobic message (biology is the be all end all of what you are) because cis people don't think about those things, and it's never framed as a trans issue because it isn't in the boundaries of the verse. Unless you think about it. And people don't think enough about their passive media consumption in my personal opinion. Which isn't a sin or anything, but I think most people would benefit from noticing how much bigoted background noise there is in literally everything.

It's not dissimilar, in my eyes, to misgendering or detransition kink or any other kink that deals directly with social issues such as race play, etc: it should not be censored and can be an important aspect of people's lives, mental health, or just plain fun, but people who are not directly impacted by biases (and even those who are) can and will use it as an excuse to harm marginalised people or as confirmation that that harmful beliefs are justified. I am into CNC and the kind of kinks people scaremonger about. I enjoy and consume fiction with genuinely concerning topics the kind I don't even wanna mention on anon. But I also promote and participate in kink education events and know how important it is to engage mindfully with things. Which doesn't mean banning it. It means bringing attention to the implications and providing background and encouraging introspection. Education alongside.

Like how people should get their sex ed from reputable sources rather than assuming porn will be accurate to real life, or else they're likely to end up in trouble. Critique of how the genre reflects social norms around sexism, misogyny, and transandrophobia can and must coexist with the fun

Media is social messaging. That is why advertising works and how people end up with insecurities from the fact that television only shows conventionally attractive people as good people if non conventionally attractive people exist at all etc. I am a strong proponent of fiction is not one to one reality. But same as how video games don't cause violence, but the kind of social spaces around them are radicalising for the far right because of the culture and how many games shifting to being "us military killing civilians in the middle east" themed post 9/11, there can be nuance beyond "this thing is bad and directly causes social issues and must be banned". Omegaverse is not the cause of transandrophobia, but a lot of it shows the symptoms

Soo here's my bingo card. With some stuff I think will happen, some things that are basically pure hopium, and some other stuff that's vague enough to be checked off.

Erhu in mili song: The erhu is an instrument that is often used for (stereotypically) Chinese songs, to immediately give the piece a "Chinese" feel. It has a beautiful sound though, I feel like it'd fit the calm water symbolism a lot. (To give you an impression of how it sounds like, this song incorporates the sound of an erhu in its intro.)

Jia family member Distorts: And gives us an easy incentive for us to fight them. This also counts Hong Lu.

Mirror of the Fathoms instead of LobCorp branch: This is just a guess without any real reason behind it.

Hong Lu's jade eye is indeed unnatural: In the book, Baoyu was reborn with a jade pendant (with Hong Lu's name directly referring to a "path" jade, which is a smooth, bead-like jade worn around the neck) to signify his former life; here, the jade eye could have replaced the pendant.

So, that's not what that study [1] says.

The thin lines on each bar in the graph represent an error bar; they're present to visually indicate the degree of uncertainty in the estimate. In this case, the bars for heterosexual women, homosexual women, and homosexual men all overlap. Since the true rate for each group may be anywhere within this range, this study cannot be used to confirm this claim.

In particular, if we look at the charts showing the actual statistical tests (which help us decide if any observed effects are "true" or simply an artifact of this sample), we see gay boys only show lower rates of delinquency than gay girls for non-violent delinquency as adolescents and for violent delinquency as young adolescents. This is important since we already know sex differences in crime – while still present – are less dramatic for non-violent crime and for adolescent offenders.

Aside from the homophobia on display here, this also means their claims may not even reflect their data. (Without the data itself, I cannot determine if including bisexuals in these categories affected the results.)

This 2024 longitudinal, representative, national Dutch study [2] found that while "men in same-sex relationships were less likely to be a suspect of crime compared to those in opposite-sex relationships" and "women in same-sex relationships exhibited higher risk than those in opposite-sex unions", men (of any sexuality) were still more likely to commit crime than women (of any sexuality), particularly for violent crime.

Unfortunately, given the design, this study was still not able to determine the relationship with bisexuality (i.e., an unknown number of people in both homosexual and heterosexual relationships are actually bisexual).

This review and meta-analysis [3] on youth indicates "sexual minority girls, [but not boys], are disproportionally involved in the justice system", but cannot speak to the relative rates of gay girls to gay boys. And, again, what is considered "delinquent" in an adolescent does not always correspond to an actual crime (e.g., truancy).

This review [4] further expands on perpetration research in sexual minorities and highlights the substantial limitations in the research. In general, gay and bisexual youth perpetration varies broadly by what specific violence is being studied as well as study methodology. There is some limited support for the trend discussed above (i.e., perpetration rates decreasing from straight men -> gay men -> gay women -> straight women), but in general the limitations in the reviewed research cautioned against any firm findings. (To be clear, this review took place before [2] which is a strong study on this topic. Hopefully, more will now follow.)

Finally, the discussed trend isn't necessarily an effect of biology, as that poster appears to be implying. It's possible that gay women and men are conforming – in part – to the gendered expectations of the opposite sex (i.e., gender nonconformity, whether positive or negative in this case).

(But, also, as a note: much of the difference between women in same sex and opposite sex relationships appears to be driven by traffic offenses.)

Here are some interesting observations I have made regarding both Fnaf and Danganronpa that relate to each other. It may just be confirmation bias, but its still fun to point these out:

Killer robot bears

In DR 1 monokuma says "you look like you've seen a ghost. A robot bear... ghost?" Which is something that fnaf revolves around. And I don't just mean robot bears possessed by ghosts, we have ghosts that take the form of robot bears too. Specifically this happens during the scene when Monokuma explains to Makoto that his bathroom door doesn't fit the frame.

Both use the same stock clock chime sound effect, which is iconic to players of both games.

Both have an in joke in the community regarding butter because of an iconic, absurd moment involving the substance (Exotic Butters, and Mondo butter)

Both have a lot of dark humor, bizzare moments, fourth wall breaking, odd spin offs, weird anime moments, and tones that can range from light and goofy to dark and depressing. As a result of this clash in tone, both have become incredibly bizzare.

Both have crazy sci-fi elements that come out of nowhere.

The main two animals in both are a bear and a rabbit, in that order of significance.

One April fools day, r/fnaf and r/danganronpa collabed, with each temporarily becoming a sub dedicated to the other. Some people still have flairs from the other series on those subreddits.

As r/deathbattlematchups can attest, there are a lot of odd similarities between William Afton and Junko Enoshima, enough that the entire community there became split about the match up, and it has become an iconic match up there "a legacy battle" even, just like Mario vs sonic or goku vs superman. A short version of these connections will (maybe) be listed in a separate post. And yes the match up was supposedly acknowledged by the people behind death battle as "something they will consider". They are definitely aware of the match up.

Both had sequels that made their own series exist in universe.

Both have fanbases that are generally regarded negatively. Though as a fan of both, I do not necessarily agree or disagree with this assessment.

Both came out in the first half of the 2010's

Both have a well known Tumblr Sexyman (William Afton and Nagito Komaeda), enough so to both appear on the infamous Tumblr Sexyman poll. Afton only made it through the first round (though his opponent was Spamton and this was in 2022) and Nagito only made it to the second round. Both series also have a secondary Tumblr Sexyman in Michael Afton and Kokichi Ouma. Neither of which were on the poll but are still highly noteworthy, and both purple (Michael has purple skin, Kokichi has purple hair and eyes)

Each has a bazillion variants to their respective robot bears.

Both feature security cameras in almost every room as well as featuring monitors.

Simulated realities and artificial humans are common plot points.

Both have characters with a split personality where one side is homicidal and insane.

Toy bears with a video feed inside, that can be spoken through remotely by the primary villain who does so from a secret room within the main facility. Where have I heard that one before?

Faz-Coins (or Faz-Tokens, its gone by both names) and Mono-Coins. Both are even gold coins hidden around the environment with the mascots face emblazoned on them.

Funtime Freddy and Monokuma are both two colored (one of the colors is white, and in the fourth closet funtime Freddy is black and white just like Monokuma) killer robot bears who are super high tech and have higher pitched voices. Monokuma has an over the top and deranged sense of humor and in one of the books we see the same as true in a version of Funtime Freddy.

Both Spike Chunsoft and Steel Wool Studios are both really only known for each respective title.

Both have a thing where in their communities, fan made games often with the same or better quality to the original product are commonplace.

Danganronpa hit an all time high on Google trends in 2021 in the U.S and around the same time Fnaf was the highest it had been since 2017 during its long and steep decline from its initial explosion in 2014. These events can be attributed to new releases made by both in 2021. With ultimate summer camp S being released in November, but getting its world wide release in December, and Fnaf Security breach also in December. In their home countries each also had a massive spike relative to their own position in 2023, with DR in January and Fnaf in October.

The fnaf movie plays out more like a detective thriller than horror movie, and Danganronpa is a series of murder mysteries. The initial trilogy of fnaf novels and the first Danganronpa light novel both also have this, and feature female protagonists who have a lot to do with what's going in, but aren't aware of it, have memory issues, and turn out to not be who they believe themselves to be.

Danganronpa has a tendency to take away characters memories, and Fnaf has a tendency to give characters looks into other people's memories or let memories linger in objects or places.

In both series, Agony and Despair respectively are both forces that can affect the mind, and spread like an infection. Its a bit more literally tangible in FNaF but DR focuses on it more so it balances out. This is the basis for one of the many aforementioned Afton and Enoshima connections: both are obsessed with the respective substance and its effects and view it as the strongest emotion (the fourth closet shows that Agony is the source of Aftons immortality, and other sources also support that most remnant that powers animatronics and haunted objects is very specifically Agony based. They are not completely separate.)

Back to back (or at least, with nothing in between the two on their community page), popular YouTube channel Dead Meat announced they were doing a Danganronpa kill count, then they streamed the first fnaf game, likely in preparation for the movie. I even made a post about it back on obsessedwithecho, which I reposted here.

There are at least two, very high quality rap battles on YouTube that are "Monokuma vs Freddy Fazbear". Its rare to see two of the same match up unless the two characters often get compared. But they don't. And yet there's still two of them.

One of the most popular fnaf fan game series "Dayshift at Freddys" is a visual novel, just like Danganronpa is. (There's also a lot of other, older fnaf visual novel fangames, but those aren't as popular and were mostly dating sims and stuff)

In both series deaths that are highly bizzare, brutal, or both, are highly common. Here's a mixed list of examples from both, all from official materials, though excluding fnaf fanverse stuff. Unless you know at least one of these series well enough, it might be hard to distinguish which comes from which. Having your innards scooped out, turning into butter, turning into a kids at play sign, turning into a candy statue, being spahettified by a black hole and woven into undergarments, being crushed to death in a mascot costume while drowning in your own blood and being impaled from all angles, pummeled to death by rapid fire baseballs at machine gun levels of speed, burning alive, being hit by a truck, being burned alive then hit by a truck, stabbed to death with scissors and crucified, male pregnancy, being seasoned and then dipped in a volcano, being converted into a mass of genetically modified sea-monkeys, cancer, suicide by poison, being crushed to death underneath the floor of a ticket jumping machine, killed in the crossfire of a fight between two giant robot mascots, crushed by a trash compactor, round trip from earth to space, suicide by robot made solely to assist in said suicide, death by sharks, face eaten by a cupcake, brainwashed by a digital consciousness, stabbed from under a floorboard, face cut off by a guillotine paper slicer, forced to wear a mask with running buszzsaws inside,

There is a reference to the dish known as "eggs benedict" in both games. Though in one its a memorable joke and on the other its a throwaway remark. Here's the DR2 transcript for proof:

Both have a bunch of comparisons to the Saw franchise as well, but not as overly specific and bizzare as these examples.

Since the late-19th century, jeans have gone from rugged workwear to fashion apparel that we couldn't live without. During the 1970’s, demand grew for flared and bell bottom styles, the trend spread from the US to Europe and was no longer associated with the niche hippie movement.
