The Republican-led House voted 214-212 on Thursday to pass a proposal from President Donald Trump to cancel $9.4 billion in previously approved federal funding.

The “rescissions” package would claw back $8.3 billion for foreign aid and $1.1 billion for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which provides funding to NPR and PBS. It is part of an effort by the White House to codify cuts proposed by the Department of Government Efficiency, which was helmed by tech billionaire Elon Musk.

In light of recent developments in the United States executive branch I want to say this,

This will be a long four years. But remember VOTE, vote in your local elections, even the smallest ones they add up. Use your voice educate yourself and others IN YOUR COMMUNITY.

This violation of our privacy is causing American families across the country to fear for our privacy, safety and dignity. We must have guardrails to stop this unlawful invasion of privacy.

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson said Monday that "there should probably be conditions" on aid to help California deal with devastating wildfires when asked if he's open to sending funding, signaling a possible political battle over helping the traditionally Democratic state.

"I think there should probably be conditions on that aid. That's my personal view. We'll see what the consensus is. I haven't had a chance to socialize that with any of the members over the weekend because we've all been very busy, but it'll be part of the discussion," Johnson said.

He did not offer specifics and ABC News has asked his office to clarify.
