I personally don't have dysphoria, but some of my friends do. I researched it so I could understand it. And I do. And I don't want to offer any false comfort, but believe me when I say I hope it gets better for you <3

I appreciate this and you greatly, but I've got to say something.

I'm... not a big fan/super comfortable with you (or anyone!) claiming to understand dysphoria just because you've researched it. A metaphor to help explain... it's kind of like a white American telling a person of color that they understand racism. Conceptually, maybe, but actually understanding... not quite the same. (Note: I am not equating the struggles of dysphoria with racism, it’s just an example.)

It comes across as somewhat patronizing and leaves a bitter taste on the back of the tongue.

I know that wasn't your intention though, and I appreciate the thought! I'm just taking this as an opportunity to talk about this, because I'm sure I'm not the only dysphoric person who feels this way.
